(00:00):
So tonight, I don't want tojust speak about President Trump's successful policies,
while there are many, I wantto talk about the man that I know.
When the President hired me, Iwas the first mom and only the
third woman to ever serve as theWhite House Press Secretary, and in that
(00:28):
role, I endured relentless attacks fromthe left. I was insulted as a
guest at the White House Correspondence dinner, my family was denied service and kicked
out of a restaurant, and aparent at my three year old son's preschool
(00:56):
spit on my car. And inthose moments, it was President Trump who
defended me. And when an MSNBChost, the author of several books on
empowering women, said I was unfitto be a mother, and another MSNBC
host said I was vile, noteven human, and that I should be
(01:22):
choked, MSNBC again did nothing, but our President pulled me aside, looked
me in the eye and said,Sarah, you're smart, you're beautiful,
you're tough, and they attack youbecause you're good at your job. Never
(01:45):
let them stop fighting. Thank you, mister President. Not of first Governor
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former press secretaryfor Donald Trump, current governor of Arkansas,
Ryan Schuling back with you six pointthirty k how and to me,
that was as important of a twominutes as we saw last night. If
(02:07):
we bring in Mandy Connell joins uslive from Milwaukee, I want to get
your thoughts on that too, Mandy, because this was a very deeply personal
story that Sarah shared and it helpedhumanize Trump once again after he'd been dehumanized
and demonized by the left for solong. What are your thoughts. I
loved her speech. I thought thatlast night yesterday. Let me just say
(02:28):
this, because you know, there'sa lot of speeches that happened earlier in
the day. You got a lotof people running for Senate. You've got
you know, like people coming outand they're given those kind of campaign speeches.
Those were the ones that lost thecrowd, right, I mean,
unless you were from that state andthen you were cheering, you know,
cheering and passionately. But but thekRamaswami, Sarah, the Huckabee Sanders,
(02:50):
they did the kind of aspirational speechesthat lifted everyone up. And to your
point about humanizing Donald Trump last night, I think sort of accidentally turned into
that because not only did Sarah HuckebySanders do that, then we saw Laura
Trump, who I will admit Ihave underestimated until last night. She gave
a warm, an eloquent, andemotional speech about watching her father in law
(03:15):
get shot with her children in thehouse and having to turn the channel as
quickly as possible so she didn't scarkids for life. She talked about him
being a grandpa. And there wasa lot of stories about Donald Trump that
we did not hear before. Thiswasn't what a successful businessman it was and
how rich he was. It wasthis is the man you don't see and
(03:36):
this is the man that we love. And I thought it was I thought
it was great. I thought itwas a brilliant stroke across the board.
And this this week has turned intoI don't I don't want to say it.
It sounds horrible, Ryan, butwhat happened on Saturday, which was
horrific and ended up with the deathof two people, one of course being
the gunman who shot at Donald Trump, but the fact that he was basically
(04:00):
give it a flesh wound right hisear was nicked, but he survived.
This has changed everything and the feelingis different. And last night we got
to hear from people who know thepresident intimately, and they gave a completely
different view than any we've gotten before. Yeah, whether it was the story
of Madeline Braime and her veteran's sonwho was killed on the streets of New
(04:21):
York City and Alvin Bragg dismissed thecharges let the criminal offendants go, or
the heart ripping story of Anne Vundnerand her a young boy dying of a
fentanyl I mean, so many personalstories about how America has become unsafe,
whether it's our borders and the drugsor the crime in our streets. And
I just thought it was beautifully framed, Mandy, if I were to put
(04:43):
it together as a production, andthen you had, you know, the
names that you mentioned, But NickiHaley with a conciliatory note. Ron de
Santis with the Weekend at Bernie's line, Ben Carson his usual very stoic self.
I mean, this was a lineupof heavy hitters. It was an
all star game in and of itself. Well, I called last night the
Night of the Vanquished, right becausebecause the Vikaramaswami did an absolute scorcher of
(05:03):
a speech, and I mentioned thison my show Ryan. We could see
the teleprompters right because we're sitting wayup in the nosebleeds kind of off to
the side of the stage. Sothere's teleprompters. There's three teleprompters in the
in the arena. We can seethem all. Well, I see two
of them, and he went offscript. The vik Aramaswami like half of
what he said was just off thecuff. Wow. Yeah, it was
(05:25):
pretty amazing because you know, theystopped the prompter and he's still talking,
and so his speech was amazing. Then you have Nicki Haley and Ron De
Santis both doing the what had tobe done. You know, I voted
for Nicky Haley and I loved her. I thought last last night's speech felt
like I have to give this speech. I have to say these things,
(05:46):
and I'm gonna say them with asmile on my face, and then I'm
gonna go off the stage and I'mgonna look at my political future. You
know. Later on, she wasnot super well received by the delegates.
There was there were some booze. When she came out, they gave her
a wrap round of applause, arousing round of applause when she was done,
after she had said I absolutely supportthe president, then you know it
(06:09):
was it was it was. Itwas her redemption that if she wants to
have a future in the party, she had to do it, and she
did it. I actually got RonDeSantis gave one of the best speeches he's
ever given. True, if thatguy had shown up on the campaign trail,
I mean, would it have beendifferent, Probably not, but it
would have been better. It wouldhave been better. So it was.
It was a great night of speecheslast night. And I was skeptical of
(06:30):
the sort of everyday American speeches. They have been the absolute best. I
mean, so compelling, personal stories, gut wrenching stories. They have made
the biggest impact. And I thinkthat people watching it at home, I
think felt the same way. AndI think that to your point, the
narrative that is being scripted every nightis being scripted masterfully. Yeah. Rachel
(06:54):
Morin's brother as well. He wasextremely powerful. She was the one that
was brutally killed of course in Maryland. And Michael Moore and just forty years
old. I thought he spoke fromthe heart, was very moving in a
speech there. But Mandy Connell joiningus live from Milwaukee and the site of
the RNC is we are on daythree. Just highlights from today for you,
Mandy. I was able to heara portion of your conversation with Representative
(07:17):
Marjorie Taylor Green in Georgia. Thatwas interesting. What else stood out?
Well? Early this morning we actuallywent to an economic forum put on by
the Committee for American Prosperity and SteveMorris Joint, you know, and Art
Laffer was there. Doug Burgham,Governor Doug Burgham was there, and his
comments really indicated to me that heis probably going to be a cabinet secretary.
(07:41):
He's just got such a masterful issueon energy policy. Talked very eloquently
about that, talked about AI andhow we need to be deploying it in
certain ways, and how we're reallygetting sort of raced past when it comes
to AI by China, who isusing it to shore up their military capabilities.
It's super interesting. He's just kindof dull, right, we learned
(08:03):
that during the presidential campaign. Butthere's no doubt the man is incredibly smart,
I mean just incredibly smart. Sonow what's going on now kind of
feels like people I don't want tosay jocking for cabinet positions, but almost
like sort of putting themselves out thereas potential cabinet positions. If that makes
sense, it does, And Ithink Doug Bergham is a no brainer for
(08:26):
Secretary of Energy if that's the postthat he wants. And tonight's going to
have a different feel in tone.I know two of the featured speakers I
believe are kind of this populist faceof the America First Movement. Tucker Carlson,
I believe it's supposed to speak orRucker is not tonight. I think
tomorrow. Tomorrow. Yeah, wejust got the list of speakers, and
if you give me just a moment, it is a list of heavy hitters,
(08:50):
and they're they're and tonight, ofcourse hdy Vance is going to speak,
So he is going to give hisacceptance speech tonight. Now earlier,
Ryan, where we are. Weare in an arena. We're not in
five Serve Forum. We're in thePanther arena next door, and we have
the giant arena screen right at thetop of in the middle of the arena,
and it plays NonStop what's happening atthe FI Serf. So during the
(09:13):
day when we're doing the show, they're doing mike checks and they're doing walkthroughs
and things of that nature where theyliterally walk through every single aspect of what's
going to happen tonight. And DonaldJ. Trump was up on that stage
earlier, so he has not beenon stage to my knowledge. That was
the first time I saw him onstage. Obviously, he's speaking tomorrow,
(09:33):
but I'm wondering if he's not goingto come out and introduce Jadie Vance.
Donald J. Trump Junior is goingto be on stage as well. Greg
Abbott is speaking tonight, Doug Berghamis speaking tonight, Kelly and Conway tonight,
Newt Gingrich Tonight, Everyday Americans,Donald Trump Junior, Jade Vance's wife
(09:54):
Usha is going to speak to theassembled, and then a bunch of Congress
people, Brian Mass, Nancy Mace, Ronnie Jackson, Matt Gates, Rick
Grinnell, who was, of coursethe first openly gay high level cabinet official
that the Left likes to ignore. He was the acting Director of National Intelligence.
It's going to be another good Night, and tonight is supposed to be
(10:16):
about uh foreign affairs that are standingin the world, so we'll see how
that comes together. I'm interested tohear what Jade Vance has to say.
I think he's going to lean intohis biography and we may get a little
abbreviated Hillbilly elegy from him, becausehis main role here is reach out in
the rest belt right, is reachout to people who's means of living are
(10:39):
decimated, and he is going tobe talking to those people who are suffering
at the bottom end of the economy. So it's going to be good night.
Yeah, very fascinated that they're savingTucker Carlson for Thursday night, kind
of the cleanup hitter, if youwill, before President Trump. But real
quick, I know you got togo, Mandy, But just bottom line
it, what does jd Vance needto do with his spach tonight other than
(11:00):
what you've already said. Well,I mean, who's he talking to?
That's the question, because nothing jdVance is going to say tonight is going
to make anyone on the left likehim, So let's just take them out.
What he needs to do is talkto the people on the right who
feel like a he doesn't have enoughexperience, he's too young. He's only
(11:22):
been in the Senate for two years. I wouldn't be surprised if he did
not reference the fact that President Obamawas a senator for two years before he
became president. Sure, you know, I really don't think obviously he doesn't
think it's a problem, so hehas to address that part of the party.
But let's be real, Ryan, people don't vote for the vice president.
They vote for the president of theUnited States. So jd Vance's role
(11:43):
as a mouthpiece, as someone outthere talking about Trump's policies, that's going
to be great, But I don'tthink he himself is going to move the
needle one way or the other inany significant fashion. Well, another dynamic
night in Milwaukee at the Republican NationalConvention. Mandy Connell is there. You
can look to her show weekdays noonto three pm over on KOA. Mandy
will let you get back to it. We'll talk to you again tomorrow.
(12:05):
All right, man, Thanks Ryan, I'll talk to you soon. Erriran,
Mandy Conell right there, your reactionfive seven, seven, three nine,
start at Ryan, if you wouldTucker Carlson going tomorrow night. As
they released the lineup, Mandy justhad that hot off the presses there for
a lot of names recognizable ones that'llbe going tonight, including Don Junior and
of course JD. Vance. Youcan trast what's going on in Milwaukee with
(12:26):
the unified Party that I don't thinkI've seen. I'm trying to think back
maybe nineteen eighty four Ronald Reagan.Honestly, I think it's been forty years
since we've seen a Republican Party thisunited, this energetic, enthusiastic, all
in lockstep behind Donald Trump. Andyou compare that with the Democratic Party that
(12:48):
is an absolute shambles right now.And it's a reflection of the person at
the top, just like the Republicanconvention and this primary has been a reflection
of the person at the time.Donald Trump, the fighter, projecting strength,
resilience. Nothing can keep him down. Everything is keeping Joe Biden down.
And now he's opened the door forsomebody like Representative Adam Schiff to say,
(13:11):
hey, buddy, it's time togo. Some medical condition that immerged.
There's somebody if the doctors came tome said you got this problem.
That problem. But I made aserious mistake in the whole debate. And
look why I originally ran and mayremember it, I said I was going
to be a transitional candidate. Ithought that I'd be able to move from
(13:33):
this just passing on to someone else, But I didn't anticipate things getting so
so so divided, and quite frankly, I think the only thing age brings
a little bit of wisdom, andI think I've demonstrated that I know how
to get things done. Folks,if we go back to Gary's text from
(13:54):
the previous hour, He's absolutely right. Joe Biden's dug in, and it's
not just him, it's Team Biden. It's doctor Jill Biden, who may
have been the individual for whom SecuritySecret Service was redirected to an event also
in Pennsylvania that day that left DonaldTrump wide open. Don't forget that.
(14:16):
If you want to hear the detailson this, I'm not getting too far
into them because there is somebody outthere who knows this stuff and it's been
jaw dropping and eye opening, andthat's Dan Bongino. He's a former Secret
Service agent himself. He has contactsources within the Secret Service that want to
get this story out, but theycan't talk under potential threat of being fired.
(14:37):
There's a big cover up going onright now. And I'm not a
conspiracy theorist. But there are alot of questions that just don't have answers,
and least of all, Kim Cheedlethis absolute garbage from her. So
that roof have been secure, period. That building in particular has a sloped
roof its highest point, and soyou know there's a safety factor that would
(14:58):
be considered there that we wouldn't wantto put somebody up on a slope roof,
and so you know the decision wasmade to secure the building from inside
safety factory. You mean, likea former president taking a bullet to the
head, would that be would thatbe a reasonable rational safety factor to consider
in this entire matrix or equation,Kim Cheatle, this is a buffoon.
(15:20):
This is a moron, a DEIpick running secret service. She worked for
Pepsi Co or some crap in herpast history. Joe Biden liked her though,
and so as a favorite to hiswife, Joe Biden hires her to
run the Secret Service. And she'sciting a sloped roof as a reason why
(15:41):
they didn't put a sharpshooter on thatbuilding. They were in the building,
explain, I am not a specialOps swat team member, but how in
the actual hell does a member ofthe Secret Service protect the president from inside
that building? Map that out forme, it doesn't make any sense.
(16:06):
Another thing, Kim Cheetah is stillin her job. That bullet moves one
inch over Donald Trump's head explodes likea pumpkin. He's dead. Is she
gone? Then? Oh yeah?Okay, Then you're telling me everything's the
same, only the result is different. But only because of that result,
Donald Trump's death. Would she befired? But everything the same. She
(16:30):
keeps her job because the shooter missed. That's the only variable in the equation
that's keeping her in that job rightnow, was that the shooter missed.
What if the subject, God forbid, was Joe Biden nicked his ear?
You think she still has a jobtoday? The answer is no. Okay,
then why is it different? Becausethey don't really care that much,
(16:53):
not enough anyway to have any kindof accountability in the wake of Donald Trump
coming within centimeters of losing his life. That's a problem, And that Kim
Chetle is still employed just confirms everybody'ssuspicions about the Secret Service, the FBI,
(17:15):
the CIA. I don't trust themone minute. You trust the FBI,
who greenlighted the Russian collusion hoax andthe Steele dossier submitted by Hillary Clinton
given to John McCain laundered through theFBI. Fis the warrants granted against Trump's
team. You trust that FBI,led by Christopher Ray to conduct this investigation
(17:41):
of the Secret Service? I sureis held out. I don't one bit.
Speaker Mike Johnson, I encourage youas well to go back and listen
and watch Dan Bongino's podcast earlier today, full hour. It precedes his radio
show. Johnson said, they're gonnabasically create a special committee, not just
your typical subcommittee, but an investigativecommittee that's going to get to the bottom
(18:06):
of this. And I hope thathe follows through all the way. I
know you and I both have ourdoubts, and we've been disappointed by Mike
Johnson in the past, but Ithink he's on task on this one,
and I'm hopeful that there will bea thorough investigation of everything that went on
in Butler, Pennsylvania last Saturday, because there needs to be. And the
next step that needs to happen whenDonald Trump is re elected and he's going
(18:30):
to win, is for him toclean house top to bottom in the Secret
Service, in the FBI and inthe CIA. Tim Meadows is straight ahead.
He's coming to Comedy Works South.Looking forward to that conversation and your
chance to win tickets stick in Stateof six thirty k Olfs Frank durand the

(19:37):
going to get the job done.Frank Durant Holmes dot com. That's Frank
Durant Holmes dot com. Frank durandthe real estate man, and tell him
Ryan sent you. So that callhappens Saturday, as you mentioned, with
a new Democratic coalition where many ofthose members are frontline members. Those are
the ones who represent swing states. They call themselves the majority makers of the
(20:00):
Democratic Party. And the readout Igot to that call is that it was
intense that Biden quote screamed at Crowand that it was absolutely a disaster.
That these members had been extremely concernedthat President Biden is not hearing what he
needs to hear, that his smallcircular circle of people are keeping him so
(20:22):
separated from what the Democratic Party electedofficials, donors and voters think that this
was their opportunity to tell the presidentthat directly. And as you reported,
Dana, it did not go oververy well. And we see that the
president is still entrenched and sticking inand so is the campaign is behind him
and his team, but there's stillthis is not going away. A lot
(20:45):
of the attention is on this Republicanconvention, and there's still so much frustration
and nervousness among Democrats, and there'snervousness and others are jumping off the ship.
This from earlier today. Adam Scheff, now a prominent Democrat calling on
Biden to withdraw. The chief, had told donors the other day quote,
I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose, and we
may very well lose the Senate, lose our chance to take back to the
(21:07):
House. And now, according toa statement that was given exclusively to the
Los Angeles Times, and we areworking to get this ourselves. He has
now gone public with this. SandraScheff is the most influential Democrat so far
to call for Biden to step asidefrom the ballot. In the statement,
Shift said to Biden, he hasbeen one of the most consequential presidents in
(21:27):
our nation's history, and his lifetimeof service as a senator, a vice
president, now as president has madeour country better. He goes on to
say, John, but our nationis at a crossroads. A second Trump
presidency will undermine the very foundation ofour democracy. And I have serious concerns
about whether the president can defeat DonaldTrump in November. That's from Sandra Smith
(21:51):
John Roberts Fox News. Previously, you heard from Leanne Caldwell CNN recapping what
was termed by her a disaster ona call, a conference call that Joe
Biden had with House Democrats, mostnotably Representative Jason Crowe sixth Congressional District.
Here we heard from John Fabricatory earlierin the program about what Jason Crow must
(22:15):
be worried about with Biden down ballotdragging down some of these races. Could
that go as far down as asixth district that Crow won comfortably the last
time around. His district is aboutthe mirror image of the fourth district that
Ken Buck won by twenty three points. Well, Jason Crow won the sixth
district by about that same margin thelast time around against Steve Monaghan. But
(22:37):
he's sweating. Why is he sweating? Well, he knows that Joe Biden's
an anchorweight. Well, maybe he'sgotten out there. He's doing more appearances,
interviews, speeches and stuff. NeiaMalika Henderson, Is that enough from
CNN? This is getting really personalat and you know, obviously we've covered
the president. He can be aHe can have a bit of a temper,
and it's certainly flashed in in thatconversation. The problem that Biden has
(23:02):
is that he has gone out forthe last three weeks to try to turn
the narrative around to say that thedebate was just a one off, that
he is in fact strong and vigorousand was just having a bad night.
He just had a cold and hewas tired. The problem is his appearances
so far since then have been hitor missed. There have been some relatively
strong appearances. The news conference wasfine, even though he had some gaffs,
(23:26):
but still he's making gaffs. He'sstill talking in a low voice,
he still seems kind of infirm infact, when he walks and greets voters.
I think he was out in LasVegas greetings voters after that very strong
into blacp speech, and that's whatvoters are strong come and that is what
they're telling folks in their districts, these congress folks who are complaining to the
(23:49):
president, some complaining to Nancy Pelosias well. So it's not going away
because a lot of what we seeof Biden still just affirmed what folks saw
in that debate. Nia, yousaid that the NAACP convention speech was a
strong one. All right, let'scheck it out. We go to the
(24:10):
highlights. You know what's coming. It's your moment of Biden. And now
your moment of Biden with the fortysixth President of the United States, Joseph
R. Biden. This is amoment when all I'm all of the dreaming,
(24:34):
steaming and screaming become ok. Finderon a black job is it's the
vice President of United States. Theidea, the idea, the corporate owned
housing is able to raise your rentthree four hundred bucks a months. On
there nd, I'm about to announcethey can't raise it more than five dolars.
(25:03):
One of my best friends, Reseda, when I was a life guard
in the projects, he was hisname is his nick name is Mouse?
What do you say? At thispoint, I also, yeah, I
was a lifeguard back in the project, Sir, my friend was Mouse.
I'm telling you, it's not ajoke. It's not a joke. Now,
(25:25):
Gina is saying, Ryan, yourimpersonation of Biden sounds like Jimmy Stewart,
which is funny because Dina Carvey isalso busting out a Biden impersonation,
and he did a spot on JimmyStewart. But I'm thinking, did Mouse
know corn Pop? Were they incahoots? Were those two friends? I
gotta know, you know, ifyou go back and cast this thing and
then the other one, this isvery important too. So he really paused
(25:48):
here, I want to go backand listen to this one more time.
I know what I'm about to announce. They can't raise it more than fifteen
time. Knowledge. Well, hemeant five percent. That's how it looked
in the prompter, and he saidfifty five dollars instead, we'll take a
quick time out. We'll come backand still looking to be joined by Tim
Meadows. He's coming to Comedy WorksSouth. We'll have that for you.

job in another state and this longdistance relationship is really tearing us apart,
(27:15):
you know. So do you thinkwe should try phone sex? No?
Absolutely not. If one who hastried it, I can tell you it
is not a good idea to havefixed with a phone leon. That's not
what phone sex is. Yeah, listen, I know, Monica, but
I had to try it anyway, you know, you know, I was
(27:37):
really drunk one time, and youknow it was one of those the Godfield
phones, and I'll be damned. And that little orange bathroom that's look real
good one night, Just hilarious stufffrom what I consider to be the Golden
age of Saturday Night Live the nineties. Tim Meadows one of the longest serving
cast members on that show, andhe's one of my favorite. He's coming
(28:00):
to Comedy Works South and like me, he's a Michigander from Highland Park right
outside Detroit. He joined us now, Tim Meadows, Tim, thank you
so much for taking the time.Oh yeah, no, my pleasure.
How you doing. I'm doing great? And I'm hearkening back to that show
and I picked it out for areason. There was a special guest on
The Ladies Man that night and itwas Monica Lewinsky. Can you take us
(28:22):
back in time to what that waslike? Oh? Wow, yeah,
I remember she was. They wouldtold us she was going to be a
guest on the show that week,so if we had any ideas for sketches,
that she would be available. AndI was not particularly interested in having
her in our sketch. And thenthe writers Parker Steele, I'm sorry,
(28:47):
Harper Steele and Dennis me Nicholas hada really funny idea for it. So
we did it and she was amazingand very nice, and really it changed
my opinion of her because I realizedthat, you know, she was it
was more of a victim than anythingelse. So, h there's a trip.
It was a trip to do andshe was very funny. You were
(29:11):
such a glue guy on this show, Tim And I mean that as the
ultimate compliment, because you would playa lot of different roles, a lot
of different cast members that you've encounteredover the years. What stands out to
you maybe as a top highlight thatcomes right to your mind, top highlight
on the show. Yeah, probablymeeting Paul McCartney and seeing him perform,
(29:33):
and seeing these other great musical actsperform. I think, like when I
look back on the show, I'mjust always very like I can't believe I
got to see Tina Turner perform live, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Mick
Jagger, you know, Annie Lennox, you know. I mean this is
(29:55):
like all of these performers that Iwas just so amazed I got to see
and the perform I mean, likehis sketches and stuff like being able to
work with like you know, WillFerrell or Mike Myers or Adam Chandler and
Chris Harley, like those are allhighlights. Definitely, He'll be a highlight
this weekend at Comedy Works South that'sat the Landmark and Greenwood Village for showby
Tomorrow night seven thirty pm, andthen two shows on Friday. Two On
(30:18):
Saturday, early shows will be sevenpoint fifteen late shows nine forty five,
And stay tuned for your chance towin two tickets to either one of those
late shows either Friday or Saturday atnine forty five. Now, Tim,
something that stands out to me aswell in your career is that you've been
very well cast as a principal ata high school as John Glascott on the
ABC sitcom The Goldbergs. But thenalso really stand out performance to me in
(30:41):
Mean Girls. What is it aboutyour acting profile that screams principle? I
think because I look good in thesweat of this. I think I'm one
of the guys that when you seea sport of vest, you naturally see
me in it. Yeah. Idon't know. Man, people writers and
other people, they sort of seeme as like this nice, authoritarian sort
(31:04):
of figure. And yeah, Iplayed the I played the dean in this
movie I did with Nick Cage calledDream Scenario, and that was last year.
And when I showed up to wardrobe, they were like, yeah,
we have this button up sweater vestsfor you to wear. But yeah,
I can't excute these things. It'scrazy to Metals joining us and look out
(31:26):
when he's in a sweater vest. That's when he stands out the most.
I got to ask you about yourexperience being born and raised in Highland Park,
Detroit. My mom's from River Rouge. You know that experience growing up
and what got you into comedy fromthat youthful experience there, I don't know.
I guess, you know, justthe surroundings and stuff. I had
this really very supportive family and alot of all my brothers and sisters are
(31:49):
very humorous, funny people. Wewere all fans of comedy, and I
think he just stuck with me.I just had this audience of you know,
big family, and they just allowedme to like be myself really and
I consider myself very lucky to havegrown up in Detroit and having done that
as well. The thing about theLadies Man that stood out to me,
(32:13):
and I'd like to just fill inthe gaps as to where that idea came
from, is I could imagine thatbeing on late night on like WXON Channel
twenty or w KBD channel fifty justin the seventies or whatever, and it
just happens to pop up on theTV screen. What was the genesis for
the Ladies man Well? I inDetroit, I worked at the liquor store
and I called Vince's Party Store. And there used to be these guys that
(32:37):
would come into the store to cashtheir checks and they worked at like a
slaughterhouse, and they would you know, come in and buy cavasier on the
weekend, and then they would alwayshave, like on the weekend they would
have to be with a pretty woman. And I just was fascinated by that
lifestyle of you know, guys whowere sort of not wealthy but could still
(32:59):
have a very active social life.So when we start, I when we
started writing Ladies Man, I sortof thought about those guys in Detroit that
used to drinkabatia and used to likehave advice for like, you know,
if you were having problems with womenor whatever. They had some secret method
like you know, yeah, yeah, nothing. What you do is buy
(33:21):
some chocolates or something. You know, you take something to a really nice
and be really kind to her.You know, they'll give you that kind
of advice or whatever. And whenwe started doing a character. Its just
it was a perfect fit for myhistory. You know, sounds like sound
advice, and I know exactly thetype of personalities you're talking about, and
you did such a great job ofbringing those personalities to life. Tim in
(33:43):
the final minute that we have orso here For the people that are coming
on out to the landmark of GreenwoodVillage to watch you at Comedy Works South
this weekend, what can they expect? What is your show all about?
Well, it's me talking about me. A lot of people, you know,
they know me from doing movies andTV and shows and characters and stuff
like that. But this is metalking about myself and growing up in Detroit
(34:06):
and being a single dad and raisingmy kids and loving to smoke pop and
just it's just really an introduction towho I am basically, and it's fun.
There's conceptual bits in the show Italked to the audience. They get
to know me, I get toknow them, and we all come out
(34:27):
better people for it and nobody getshurt. I love it looking forward to
this. Always great to talk toa Detroiter and one of the all time
greats from Saturday Night Live. Oneof my favorites, Tim Meadows, and
