In this episode, Fred shares chilling wilderness accounts that remind us how quickly the familiar can turn unnerving in remote places. First, Margaret and Kyle set out for a simple berry-picking outing—until an oppressive feeling of being watched settles in. What starts as subtle unease escalates when they spot an enormous figure moving nearby, forcing them into a tense, instinct-driven retreat.

Then we head to the Alcan Highway, where Jonathan’s late-night drive takes a terrifying turn. Alone in his RV, he’s jolted awake by violent impacts against the vehicle—an apparent attack by something powerful, unknown, and determined.

With nowhere to run and no clear explanation for what’s outside, Jonathan is left to endure a long, fear-soaked night on one of the most isolated roads in North America.

Together, these stories explore the raw, primal dread that can surface in the wild, the sense that we’re not always alone out there, and the haunting questions that linger when encounters defy logic. Listener discretion is advised—these accounts are intense, unsettling, and may stay with you long after the episode ends.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now one of your pudding. I got a string going
on here, something just cause my dog. Something killed your dog,
my dog. We're flying through the air over the tree.
I don't know how it did it, Okay, Damn, I'm
really confused. All I saw was my dog coming over
the fence and he was dead. And once you hit
the ground like, I didn't see any cars. All I
saw was my dog coming over the fence. Sat, what

(00:38):
are you putting? We got some wonder or something crawling
around out here? Did you see what it was or
was it was? Standing enough? I'm out here looking through
the window now and I don't see anything. I don't
want to go outside. Jesus quice, you better hello, get

(01:03):
somebody out here. What went on out there? Let's thought
of a bit of about second fourth nine.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I don't know easy, im out there, yeah right away,
Oh greetings. Wanted to share with you today something that
happened is probably close to twenty years ago now. While
out berry picking Margaret and we'll call him Kyle. Margaret
and Kyle were berry picking for a relative. They were
all getting blackberries, some salmon berries if they're around, just

(01:31):
berry picking in very similar terrain where I was pointing
out the salmon berries. Imagine that kind of train that
they're in, but in this particular place they were picking berries,
there's a lot more muskeg. So as they're picking, as
they're going along, they get separated by about one hundred feet.
Margaret was more anxious to get the salmon berries first,

(01:54):
and she was trying to get a couple quarts of them,
which it doesn't sound like much, but when you're picking
something this big and trying to fill up a bucket
takes time. So she's methodically going along and through and
she hears a grunt. She assumes it's her husband. Now,
with the assumption of it being the husband, she continues

(02:15):
doing what she's doing, and there's no immediate sense of dread.
As she's reaching for a berry, out of the corner
of her eye, she catches movement. Now, what that movement
causes her to do is just to sit up and say, hey, han,
she thought it was her husband right next to her.
She was in an area close to the trees. It

(02:36):
wasn't just the black spruce though, there was alder willows
and various other brush in this particular area. So as
she says, hey, Han, how's it going on. She starts
to relay her berry picking in how she was happy
she was getting berries, and she turns and that figure
was no longer there. She turns around and realizes her

(02:56):
husband is too far away to have made the grunt
noise and had made it in her peripheral vision for
a brief moment and then make it all the way
back to where he was picking berries. He had the rifle.
They had a two seventy, I believe, So immediately she
gets spooked. She grabs her berry bucket. She stands up.
She's scanning the area. It's not easy to see into

(03:19):
that shit. Someone could disappear. Even play in a hide
and go seek with your friends, someone could disappear into
that shit and you wouldn't find them if they didn't
want you to find them. So she starts backtracking slowly,
and with each step she's sensing something doesn't want her there.
She had the peripheral she assumed it was a human
like figure, but she wasn't on top of it. She

(03:40):
wasn't in a panic state because she had her husband armed,
were picking berries good day. So every step she takes
moving back towards her husband, she's getting that more and
more of a sense of dread, and so once she's
close enough to get his attention without yelling because she
didn't want to draw any unwanted attention from that area,

(04:03):
she saw the figure move into out of the corner
of her eye. As she starts talking back. Her husband
senses the tone and her voice had changed. He's a
real dude. He's on top of his shit. He dropped
his berry buckets and immediately comes over with the rifle.
They're standing side by side. As he comes up behind her,
he calmly talking to her as he's getting closer and says,

(04:24):
just stay there, kneel down like you're picking berries, and
I'm gonna do the same. So she takes a step
away from him, kneels down and legitimately is picking berries,
and she starts speaking to him in Yupik, telling him
what had been going on. Why she chose Yupik. I
think it was to disguise they were talking about the
hairy man. She didn't specify. I meant to ask, but

(04:48):
that's twenty twenty hindsight. So they sit there. He's laid
the rifle in front of him, but he's got his
head down and he's scanning the trees for any movement,
and he catches something just off to his right hand
side but in front of him, and so he starts
focusing on it with his head down, trying to look
in that direction on the sly and as he's doing so,

(05:10):
they are hit with little blackberries. And they're confused because
the berries are being thrown from somewhere off to their
left in the trees, and they're just right next to
the tree line in the tundra, and he's facing a
different direction of which the berries are coming. Immediately, he
thinks prankster. So he gets mad, because you don't play

(05:33):
pranks on anyone in the bush. It's not safe, especially
people who are armed. So he stands up and he
has the rifle and he starts yelling, hey, we're not
playing these games. Stop throwing the damn berries. As he's
walking the direction the berries were thrown from, expecting to
find some kids they may know, or another villager just
playing a prank or whatever. He was half expecting that,

(05:55):
and as he's walking in that direction, he hears his
wife's scream, turns around and sees her. She's lurched back
away from her berry picking bucket. And this thing is
walked out into another patch of black spruce about thirty
feet away. The way they explain it is as soon
as he turned his back to go in the direction
of the berries being thrown, she immediately sees this thing

(06:20):
come out of the trees because her husband's not looking
with the gun, and goes over to another stand of
trees about thirty feet away roughly, and it crossed this
span in four steps. According to her, she said it
looked very big, and she had no size reference, but
she said it was almost as tall as the black
spruce trees that were in the area, and that would

(06:43):
make it anywhere between ten and twelve feet tall. So
she screams, lurches back away from where she was picking,
and is pointing in the trees just as a husband
turns and sees the dark figure going to the trees. Immediately,
berry picking is over, so they gather the bucket, though
they leaving them without those berries. They were gonna fight
for him, so as they're backing away, he's keeping mindset

(07:06):
on something through berries from over here. So they're backing out. Ah, jeez,
get the chills, because I was just in that environment
feeling that creepy feeling anyway. I got the hair on
my arm standing up. We'll make sure it's not because
of something standing behind me. He's keeping in mind something
was throwing berries from right over here. As they're backing up,
he's keeping any on his wife and I over her

(07:28):
shoulder into the stand of trees, and he's also keeping
mindful about off to his left hand side. They get
to a certain point, he notices movement broken up in
between the trees, because, like I tried to show you,
you're only gonna catch small bits and pieces of something
going through brush like that. Right immediately, he moves his
wife to the side and puts a bead with the rifle,

(07:51):
just not pointing at it, but in that direction at
a ready. At this point, they both said they were overwhelming.
He caught the sense that they can't be there, and
so they back out. As they're backing out, they noticed
one of the trees where she saw the one walk
into and he caught a glimpse of it shaking in

(08:13):
the center of this group of trees. Now, he said
that when it was shaking, it was almost like it
was taking the tree, moving it to the side to
look at them, moving it back to look at him
from the other side, and he could see its face.
Every time it did that, every time it moved it,
he was making eye contact with this thing. There was noises, cooing,

(08:38):
kind of noise. Some of it sounded like someone trying
to speak Upik, but different. She couldn't pinpoint it. And
as they're hearing the sound, she starts yelling out phrases
in Yupik. Who is it? Who are you? We're from? Wherever?
Who are you? She kept asking who are you? In Yupi?
And as they were back on the husband said, just stop,

(09:00):
nothing's responding. Let's we gotta go. Just as they got
to a point where he felt she could get behind
him and they could turn instead of walking backwards, turn
and get out of there. Just as they were about
to do that, they heard in a Yupik like language
something being said back to them, but it wasn't Ubik.

(09:21):
It was similar. She's fluent Yupik, but she couldn't place
what was being said back, but it was Upik like.
So it makes you wonder was there a universal language
at one point where all the tribes spoke, Because like
the Occlute in the Indians, here just down the road,
towards Anchorage, their dialect of language, they could communicate with

(09:44):
the Sioux Indians. So there's something universal we have lost
in the past that I find intriguing because that could
be a key to really bringing this past a tipping point.
I've been going out into the field to share people's
experiences on site because me explaining them I could paint
a pretty good picture, right. But there's something to being

(10:08):
in an exact location of someone's stuff. That happened with
James and Debra's experience. When I was in that area
and I was circling around, there was an overwhelming sense
of being watched. It wasn't squatch bait. He was circling
out in the canoe, how dense it was, he wouldn't

(10:28):
have seen me. I wouldn't have saw him. Gosh, it's
really hard to explain. I was walking in that circle.
I was half expecting to draw something out. I was
half hoping to I would rather shoot something with the
camera versus a firearm. I wasn't there to necessarily shoot anything,
but being there in that location. A little less than

(10:50):
a handful of hours later, I was still jacked up
on adrenaline. From that. We went from the filming location
for James and Deborah over to it was like close
to twelve miles away where I filmed that next portion
with the tundra and the trees. It affected me so
much that that many hours had passed, that many miles
had passed, and my adrenaline was still pumping. When you

(11:15):
get out in the woods and you're doing things berry picking,
whatever it may be, there's something to be said about
someone's feelings as far as it's almost universal, feelings of dread,
feelings of gotta go unwelcomed, things of this nature. Not
one of these people have spoke to me about mind
speak or portals or anything like that that I haven't

(11:37):
witnessed myself. I have no dog in that fight. Just
some things to think about. Why is the fear of
being struck like that on such a primal level? See
this bury picking encounter. There's a lot of them that
are very similar. Maybe I'll do a playlist of bury
picking chronicles or something, but a lot of them happen
just like that, whether with a group of people two

(12:00):
or more, sometimes two, sometimes up to seven different people,
and there will be a movement attention has got one
way or another, whether it's silent by peripheral throwing something
like rocks, berries, sticks, twigs. It makes you wonder why
they would invite you to see them with throwing stuff
to get your attention or being in a peripheral what's

(12:23):
their driving force to get your attention, to draw your attention.
It could be to lure you away from others, to
keep you from seeing what they're doing. Because obviously he
felt and she felt there was more than one. One
just walked across and then something throwing berries at them
from a different direction. It's hard to mistake that for
anything else than being more than one, because it's not

(12:44):
like that one could throw a berry, a boomerang berry,
and I don't see that happening, So I don't know.
It's those intriguing thoughts that really get the mind churning.
What's the end game of getting our attention when we're
doing these things? What's the endgame to that? And so
far no one is stuck around to find out, And
if they haven't shared their story or they can't really

(13:07):
intriguing stuff anyway, I wanted to share that very picking encounter,
talk about those feelings because they're damn near universal up here.
A primal fear. Something will strike someone funny, even a
hunter that's been in the woods for thirty years, all
of a sudden, we'll get this fear. He's never had
even a bear hunter. I've done bear control. I've had

(13:28):
him charging at me. That's an adrenaline dump, right the
holy shit. But it's different. It's on a totally different level.
So I don't know. I'll always follow your gut in
the woods. If you're wondering why I'm in a rundown
old RV, I'm just checking it out. I'm on site
at Jonathan's place. He was traveling the Alcan Highway in

(13:52):
seventy six or seventy eight. He's in his late seventies now,
so his exact date really irrelevant to what happened. So
they had just cleared the Canadian border coming up to
Alaska on Alcan Highway. When they got to he said

(14:12):
it was the third rest area. He doesn't exactly remember.
Him and his then wife, who divorced him shortly after
this situation. We're basically essentially sleeping right there. New or mattress.
He tried to start refurbishing a while back and gave
up on it. Just too many memories ruined it for him.

(14:34):
So they're at this rest stop. They got done eating,
they were chilling in here. They were essentially laying down,
chilling out and listening to a radio of some AM
station that they could pick up. Now. They weren't horribly
far from Fairbanks. Wherever there's a turnoff or something. It's
been so many years since I've been up on al Can.

(14:55):
Someone probably knows the answer to it. Stay tuned for more,
ask watch out to see We'll be right back after
these messages. So they're at this rest area chilling. They're
mellowing out for the night. It is still early in
the spring, so it's not like we have the daylight now,

(15:16):
but it builds day by day at that time of year.
They were sitting here and they noticed out this window
here dark shadows going back and forth a couple times,
and so he jumps up. They didn't have any firearms
back then. You were allowed certain rifles, no handguns I
think or something. But he had mailed everything. So he

(15:39):
was coming up to work in the oil field and
just bought a place and use this camper to bring
the rest of his shit up. Now, as he was
trying to investigate the movement outside the windows. This whole
thing shakes, it shakes, and it draws his attention to
the back. Now, once he gets to the back, he

(16:01):
said that right here in this area, that's why I
was attempted to be rebuilt. This thing smashed its hand
up through and was trying to pull essentially this whole
area off, and commenced to banging and doing some other stuff.
There was a hole put in the ceiling. I think
he said that crack there came from it as well,

(16:24):
this crack in the window. So essentially they started trying
to open this thing like a ten can. Now he's
in his place right now. He after sharing it with me,
and I went over it with them a couple times
to make sure I had the proper information to share
to try to gauge their emotion whenever I can. Sometimes
I just have to read the email and elaborate on

(16:47):
certain things, like a twisty trail. Anyway, I digressed instantly.
Where he's standing. He runs forward and grabs something off
the stove and bashes the arm when it tearing that shit,
so he bangs the arm. It pulls its arm out,
pushes against the place, and then I think that's when
it tried to come through up there. It's been some

(17:11):
of it's been changed out and some of it has not.
The old stuff is up in the front, and this
part here was changed out some years back when he
was doing the renovation. He's not keeping this. He's trying
to rebuild it and kind of garner back to earlier
days or whatever. But he just can't mess with it.

(17:32):
So anyway, it tears this part up. It tries to
come through there. Now they have no firearms whatsoever. All
he had was some kind of frying pan, a small
cast iron skillet, and he's running around banging, making a
whole shit ton of noise as he's doing it. He
himself tore down these open areas here. He tore the

(17:54):
doors off of those looking for an old machete he
used for trail blazing. So he breaks all these down
looking for it. He finds it, and he attempts to
hack at it. When it was trying to get its
hand in, it had broken up all this stuff up
in here. All this was all replaced and tried to

(18:15):
reseal and all that. You can see the underpart here
where he made his attempt at fixing it. Now as
this attack is going on, his wife at the time
was under there. Don't blame her, no firearm. I would
have been under there with her. So he's running around
hacking with the machete. Whenever it stuck its arm up

(18:38):
and through, he felt it pulling this whole thing. Man
from where it was grabbing up and here it was
like pulling and moving the whole thing. The only thing
that stopped them from moving any further was the fact
it was in park. Not a happy feeling. So this
is basically ten thirty eleven at night that this happens,

(18:59):
just as it was getting dark enough, still light in
the sky, but dark everywhere else right, and the tree
lines especially, So the initial onslaught happens. He hacks away
all the hacking was where all this stuff has been replaced.
Now he tried to find the scraps in his garage
of the hacked parts and whatnot. But I was like that,

(19:20):
I believe you, don't worry, just tell me what was
going on. So as he hacks around, it was trying
to pull the thing forward. It was trying to pull
the top off, and for whatever reason, there was a
high pitched whistle off in the distance, and it ran off.
Now when it ran off, he heard other footsteps from
just outside the doorway run off as well. Then it

(19:44):
dawned on him that thing wasn't alone, And then he
thinking back, he wasn't even sure if it was the
same one that stuck its arm through over here or
what it could have been a combination of the two.
He was so freaked out. His ex wasn't a witness
to any of his. As soon as s it started
going sideway, she was under there. I think as soon
as the hand broke through over here is when she

(20:05):
got under there. Can you imagine having this thing busting
through the damn ceiling? This thinge was brand new at
the time, and if trying to tear off this cab
over man, that was some freaky shit. But I shot
through the wall. They stayed their distance. This thing was
trying to get them, So forgive me. I'm sitting here

(20:30):
reliving it through what he told me, and I'm just
trying to imagine it runs off. He hears another one
run off. Now he's regrouping, trying to get her from
out of under there. There's a howl going off in
the very far distance, and then return gral howls as
he called them. In the near distance, just off into

(20:52):
the tree line. Now there at a rest drop. There
was another Ford pickup at that same rest stop. He
saw the guy already in his single cab old school
seventies Ford, sleeping on the bench seat in the front.
So he runs over to get this guy's attention. Guy's
already sitting up, has his truck. It just started as

(21:14):
he comes running up, and the guy jumps back and
he goes, we need your help, We need your help.
These things attack my RV. The guy said, I saw
them run off, I'm out of here, and just backs
out on him and goes. So Jonathan runs back here
because he didn't want to be left out in the woods,
so he runs back over here. When he gets inside,

(21:34):
she's back underneath because he wasn't in there and she
didn't feel safe looking out the windows, which I totally understand.
Comes back in and is trying to put stuff. Took
the old pads that usually go around and through here.
Was like he's got an old glass unit. There must
be one of his. Maybe it's his, no judgment. Just
notice that that's even got a rick and morty stick

(21:57):
around it. Hilarious anyway, he's trying to stuff things, the
old cushions that were here, to see the velcrow where
they were held in the place and whatnot. He's trying
to stuff it to fill the holes. Now he's got
the machete, and I guess a couple of times when
he was swinging he had struck it at least once
that he can remember. But he was in a blind

(22:18):
fury of fear and just whacking away and screaming and
going off right. So as he gets back in here
and he's doing all this stuff, that howling has continued,
not rhythmicallee or anything, but periodically he would hear the
scream in the distance seemed to get closer, and the
screams returning. The howl or whatever hal Grau seemed to

(22:42):
be congregated in one area. Now he's sitting there and
the dawns on him. I need to get out of here.
So he does what he has to do and fires
up the rig. He backs out from where he was parked,
and as he was pulling around to leave out of
the rest area and hit the road again, he sees

(23:03):
one of these things cross the road in front of him,
and also sees one off in the just off the
side of the road at the tree line that didn't
run after the other one, did not tell anyone about it.
He didn't even put in a claim for the insurance
policy that he had for this thing through the dealership

(23:23):
because he was still making payments on it and they
had some form of insurance not we have today, but
had a form of insurance he didn't even file a
claim on. He actually almost lost this thing twice because
he stopped making payments on it because of the memories
of what happened. So they get out of there and
all that, But can you just can you imagine being

(23:45):
in here and something actively attacking the roof, attacking the sides,
ripping all this shit for you, Like it wasn't trying
to share berries, it wasn't trying to point out the
fastest shortcuts to get the Fairbanks or wherever it was
here with an intent. And it still boggles me they
would try to come through over here when there's all

(24:08):
these single pane, thin ass windows that are chintz. They're
real chintzy. There are so many things with these creatures
that boggle my mind. I just don't I just don't
get oh. Also right over here, it broke through right
in this area here with a tanned When it started
tearing up the thing. Anyway, it just dawned on me

(24:29):
because I could see light out it. But Jesus, I
wouldn't have wanted to be in here, especially with that
actively tearing through. Holy shit, what I'm gonna share with
you today happened in a place called West Pappoos Lake.
To be exact, I got the topographical here and where
this happened was southwest past the airstrip in a bog

(24:52):
So here's Pappoos Lake, West Pappoos Lake here that it
happened southwest of there past the airstrip which is here.
It has to be this muskeg area here with a
couple ponds and lakes or whatever. And this is the
little Susitna River. Now what happened in this area? So
what happened was is this happened actually the week before

(25:13):
Father's Day two years ago. They were on their way
just to have some fun explore. They've been to the
airstrip before, they went past it, and they went down
this little embankment that opens up into that flats area.
What drew them there is Initially they were just playing
around the airstrip, chasing the little ones or whatever. This

(25:35):
was shared from Jason. Jason and his wife Jennifer real
first names. They didn't want their last name shared. So
Jennifer and Jason they're wrangling their kids doing the dad day.
So what ends up happening is the kids are squealing
and screaming, and often the distance they hear this god
awful sound. They do not know what the hell made

(25:58):
that sound. Jason is out in the woods with his kids. Man,
this Alaska, you gotta take it serious. So he does
this thing. He gets the firearm, gets Jennifer to get
the kids to a safer spot, and he's going to
go investigate and confront this sound. Now, he goes down
and he's looking out into this flats area and he

(26:21):
notices a brown hump in one of the ponds in
the muskeg and he thought, oh cool, a back of
a moose. The moose has got his head under the water,
and maybe the kids will be able to see this
moose pop up and show its antlers and stuff with
all the moss hanging off of it. Excellent. So he
runs back, gets Jennifer and the kids and says, hey,

(26:42):
it was just a moose making this weird noise. Let's
go look at it. So they go. Jennifer. The two kids,
a boy and a girl. They were both under three
years old, so they were carried and it was a
bit buggy there. They weren't there very long because of
what happens, and plus the mosquitoes, they weren't planning on
being there long, Ash say. So they get down to
this vantage point where they're looking down and Jason's trying

(27:04):
to tell the kids, hey, look, there's that moose. And
they see this brown hump in the water, just a
brown hump, assuming it was the back of a moose.
So they're whispering to the kids, Oh, it's going to
be great when this moose stands up, you'll be able
to see this moose. They're teaching their kids, giving them
some culture in the area. Being raised in Alatska fair enough.

(27:25):
As a kid. I was always raised with the knowledge
of the woods, so I'm all for that. So they're watching,
they're thinking, man, it's taken forever for this thing to
pop its head off. They must have been sitting there
five to six minutes. Then it stands up. It's not
a moose. He said, it looked to be about four
to five feet across the back. They were approximately one

(27:48):
hundred and twenty yards from this snave, so he's estimating
four and a half five foot across the back. It
didn't see no discernible neck, just a hump in the center,
and the little girl screamed. When the little girl screamed,
its whole body shifted and turned and looked directly up
at the little girl, which made her breathe freak card.

(28:09):
They did not know what to do at first. They
were in shock, and immediately Jennifer has both kids and
is heading back up the trail back up to this
airstrip to go back across to where they had their
boat over at Papoos Lake. They had one of those
foldable little boats. Said he didn't go to West Papoos

(28:29):
Lake that often because just how to get there and everything,
and not many people go there that he was aware of.
And they didn't see anybody. So she's scrambling with the kids.
He's got a spire arm out at nineteen eleven to
forty five acp whatever. He's continuing eye contact with this
thing and is freaking out. Has no idea. He never

(28:53):
even had bigfoot, sasquatch or anything on his mind. Ever,
this experience changed that. He backs up the trail and
is keeping his firearm pointing at this, saying and this
thing's just standing in the pond. He gets back up
to the airstrip with his wife two kids. He decides
he's going to go and get a friend that lives

(29:15):
a few miles away, get back up and get someone
there to witness this with him. So he takes Jennifer
AND's kids. They jump in their little claps of both
things and they get back across. They go and he
goes to talk to his friends. Now, when he gets
to his buddy's house and starts explaining what happened, his
buddy immediately is dismissing him, pretty standard practice. He tries

(29:40):
to explain to his buddy, Hey, I'm being serious. I
need someone to go with me and check this shit out.
His buddy reluctantly agrees. They grab some high power rifles
and video camera, old school video camera. They don't know
if they'll make use of it or not, but they're
going to attempt to get something on video. Stay tuned

(30:03):
for more Sasquatch out to see, we'll be right back
after these messages. Now, they don't have a lot of
daylight left. It stays light out that time of year,
let's be honest. But his buddy didn't want to go
out that late at night. So Jason's got his backup.
He's got his buddy to go with him. There's a

(30:24):
bit of a discussion between them, arguments of is this safe.
They decide they'll be all right with the firearms, and
they continue on. They make it back to the point
of the airstrip with his little quarter boat, and they're
both hiking over. And as they get to this place
in the following day, I should say, there's an airplane

(30:47):
at the strip. And so as they come back and
get up onto this airstrip, they go and they see
a guy they want to talk to him. They go
over to him and they ask, hey, we heard something.
He saw something yesterday over here. Have you encountered anything?
The guy chuckled and laughed and said, no one ever
comes over this way. As a matter of fact, I have.

(31:07):
I've seen this thing jump in that pond over there
and never come back up again, and I'll see it
the next day. So they start discussing with each other.
It must be going underground, or must have another spot
it comes out, or whatever. It sparked a memory about
what the elder shared with me and when he was
dealing with that those issues on the Quejack River where
it dived into beaver pond and then was in the

(31:29):
grove of trees. There's precedents there anyways, and so the
pilot said, hey, be careful, don't shoot it if you
don't have to things of this nature, and he had
to go on about his way. So they went down
to that little area where him and his wife have
viewed it the day before, and nothing's going on, and
his buddy's starting to really think that he's getting pumped.

(31:51):
He thinks it's some kind of elaborate hoax to tease him,
and he's not really too happy about it. Jason reassures
his friend, Hey, look, this ain't a joke. This thing
is down here. I don't know that pilot, so just
bear with me. So they sat there for a handful
of hours and then they heard a loud gurgling sound

(32:13):
and the water coupluche, and so they watched the water
bellow out in this spot next to shore of this
little pond and out pops this thing and it's the
hunching back and nothing is visible. And immediately his buddy
is like putting a beat on it with his rifle,
and Jason's put your gun down, put your gun down,
let's watch this. Let's watch this thing. So as they're

(32:35):
watching it does the same thing. It raises up broad
no neck, just a hump in the center of its
broad back. And this thing started raising a hand up
and smacking into the water and pulling out like this
grassy type of material or whatever, and was flinging it
up onto the bank. Now they're watching this thing and

(32:57):
they're just transfixed on whatever this thing is doing. They
must have watched it for about an hour before his
buddy stands up and yells at this thing. As soon
as his buddy stands up and yells at this thing,
it turns around, stands up all the way. And he

(33:17):
said it must have been out of the water by
about five to six feet. They didn't know how deep
that plond was at that point, but it was obvious
this thing was a lot bigger than it appeared initially,
and so they immediately freaked out. His buddy is gone.
His buddy bails up that trolley runs off. Jason follows,

(33:39):
looking over his shoulder as he does to make sure
he's not being followed. Nothing followed him. And as they
get up back up to the air strip, the pilot
had already taken off and they were standing on the
airstrip and his buddy is walking in a circle. He
lit a cigarette and is trying to calm down. He goes, dude,
that shouldn't be there. That should not be there. We
need to go. We can't be here, dude, there's something

(34:01):
wrong here. We can't be here. And as they're having
this little argument discussion really, because they were both pretty emotional,
they heard a gargling screen and at dawned. The whole
time they're sitting there, they were so transfixed they forgot
about the little handcam in the pocket and all that shit.
It came back to him as the scream is happening
that they hear, so Jason gets out the little handicam,

(34:25):
takes his forty five, and he goes back down the
trail to try to record. Now, when he gets to
that little landing they were at, he notices a big
wet footprint just to wet outline. Nothing imprinted in the ground,
and once he saw that, he dropped the camera and bolted.
This thing had come out of the water, went up
to where they were and is somewhere in the vicinity

(34:48):
of this airstrip. So he gets back up to his buddy,
he goes, hey, it's somewhere over here. So they immediately
decide to get the hell out of dodge. He has
not been back first handycam. Anyone in that area finds it,
say man email, he wasn't able to record a thing,
and his buddy now won't go to the area with them.

(35:10):
Just trying to put yourself in these people's footsteps is
really hard to do without experiencing it yourself. You really
don't want You really don't want it. I know you do,
but you really don't, because once you do, you can't.
There's no going back from that. There's no reset to
go Okay, I don't have to worry about this anymore.

(35:31):
It doesn't work that way. When you see one, when
you hear one screaming, you will never be able to
go into the woods with the same kind of just
whatever attitude. You just don't it's impossible. It's one thing
to worry about bears. It's another thing to worry about
wolves and all this stuff. But once you see one

(35:53):
of these things and have it scream at you or
you just see it run off, there's no fix. There's
no going back to a peaceful mindset in the woods. Ever.
Anyone who says they're comfortable in the woods after inexperience
like that, I believe they're full of shit, because there's
always gonna be something within you that is screaming, don't

(36:15):
do it, don't do it. I don't know. I want
to thank Jason and Jennifer for Sherry, and thanks for
joining me, and we'll see you on the next WOLFI
