Speaker 1 (00:12):
And welcome back to the pod also knows let's chat
with Brendan Tyler or whoever nickname you decide to call
the show. It is what it is anyway, new direction.
Starting next week, we're gonna be narrowing down our topics,
so we're not gonna be covering basically anything on planet Earth.
We'll be moving it to current news like current events
news slash politics. Quite frankly, that top turns into politics,
(00:34):
sports ball, occasionally video games, and once in a blue mood,
although that topics also can get cut off at some
point is music. And then we're gonna put a little
flavor of every something every once in a while for
like a special. Otherwise it's just gonna go down those
four down the road. After that, we might shorten it
down to just like two, maybe three, likely just two
(00:55):
topics to short like short up stuff, and that way
we have more focused what we're covering. Now. We also
have the like because as the end of Star Wars week,
we're going to do a little bit more sci fi
sci fi and fantasy stuff. I personally don't care more
like so much about sci fi. I care more about
the fantasy aspect of that. Just who I am as
(01:15):
a person besides the point and to kick things off, Tyler,
you want to give a baseball update.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Let's see baseball update for the this.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Week, this week, of the past couple of weeks, however
you want to do it, Let's.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Say this week. So this week, oh god, this week,
the White Sox have been on a one, two, three, four,
four game losing streak against Kansas City. They are playing
Miami today at home. Oh god. So in the standings
their tenants.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I was gonna say, isn't the only worst team like
the Rockies.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
The Rockies are six and thirty one.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I know they're bad six games lose to like get
shut out against the White Sox for the one game
that I could not tell you. Anyways, continue.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Milwaukee. They are nineteen and nineteen. They are tied with
the pixie loving Saint Louis Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Gotta snort some of that pixie dust.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yes, they have been trying to snort the pixie dust.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
But yeah, you know, guy lining up the pixie dust
on the table and just go like got a duel line,
you know.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
And other related current news, Uh, the pope has the
new pope has been announced. Uh. The first American born pope,
and he is from Chicago.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yes, the provost has a chosen papal name of the
I like to say Leo the fourteenth. And he is
a white Sox fan, Yes he is. And also I
did a little light research on the guy. I thought
he was like from very initials, like very soft surface
(03:04):
level research. I thought he was more of a like
more liberal politically and theologically conservative, which yes that can
be possible, and theologically conservative liberal means totally different than
compared to political. But then when then I listened to
some stuff and did a little bit more digging and
found he goes more liberal on like firearms and immigration.
(03:29):
Whether as the guy was a registered Republican when he
lived in the US and voted in Republican primaries in Illinois,
and Illinois is a closed primary state.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yes, it's almost always a democratic state anyway.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
So the like, you got that main thing about the pope,
and there has been some pretty funny memes. Actually one
of them was introducing Pope Chicago style. It's just the
Pope and hot dog bun. Pretty funny.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
So the topic is, as I said, is still sci
fi related.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Tyler, would you like to kick it off.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
No, you can. I told you to do research.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
I mean, that's fair. I mean my research has been
mostly listening to a Throng novel.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Okay, talk about that.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
So, but the Throng novel, it's the ultimateth these on that.
In other words, like basically all the Throng novels. There's
two sets. There is the set made in the nineties
which went with the non Disney cannon, they complete anti
Disney cannon, and then you have the stuff that goes
with the branches of the pure Disney cannon, the one
(04:33):
that does the hybrid and the one I found I
apparently is the one that's meant for the Disney cannon,
the hybrids area. And it follows his initial discovery by
the Empire going into the like him joining the Imperial Academy,
go through the program in three months, start off as lieutenant,
(04:55):
and then start growing from there. Right now, I'm on
chapter eleven, and I know.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
The book has been out.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
For eight years and the like that I know. In
terms of media, when it comes to like games, movies, shows,
a lot of books, the time period for spoilers is
typically lacked at like two weeks to a month, and
after that.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
All bets are off typically how it goes.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
So all that informations are out there, and if it's
really spoilers, I just never really dove into it. And
I don't really look into lore or kind of like
major events in timelines for a lot of stuff. More
often than not, I care more about the individual characters,
and Thron was I found one of the more interesting
of the Imperials that you know, we're higher up and ranking.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Right, Thron is one of those characters where it's he's
part of the bron series, New Empire stuff from Legends.
He's actually one of the coolest characters in that canon.
I wish it was still canon.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, but Thron is still very much a thing. And
both are all three canons if you want to look
at three different canons.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Right, But isn't that old Disney canon?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
So yeah, the one that I listening to is for
Hybrid and Disney. Oh okay, I see, not original. Yeah,
so you know I do the Hybrid.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Like I talked on Monday, we're trying I want to
try to get back into that old Republic. It's been
out for fifteen plus years. I did not know that
it was out for that long. So I am sorry
to anybody who I offended. Old Republic. The only thing
(06:45):
I really know is about Malgus and Revin. I know
Revan basically started the civil war between the Jedi and
the Sith and then basically said, oh no, I'm going
to kill you all.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
So that's fun. And then and the discord chat. We
even had a question brought about Star Trek technology that's
used in the modern.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yes, like the real world and examples cell phone.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Okay, I'll read that question out.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Let me get to it, please do, because I have
a couple of items now Star Trek. I would say
the like, doesn't Star Trek fall underneath like sci fi
fantasy except closer to the sci fi end? Yes, would
make sense. Why I never read on anything for Star
Trek during note taking stuff? Actually more mental notes, but whatever?
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Right, So that question was it's not really a question.
It was, uh, how sci fi fantasy is becoming the
new modern day and how can we make it real
for everyone? So let's start with that question.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
So how can we make it real for everyone? I
would say rather not, Well.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
It depends on what technology you want to really invest in.
I mean teleportation. Yeah, that'd be great.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
It would be handy.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
It'd be handy.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Uh, we got the cell phone, So.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I mean hyperspace travel would be neat because we could
go visit other stivilizations if they're out there, right.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
But it also could lead into just disappointments or accidentally
like jettisoning into a black hole that you didn't know
was there.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Yeah, but still, I mean hyper travel comes with its risks.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
But yeah, and then the question goes are like, is
the risks worth it?
Speaker 1 (08:42):
I would say no to me, I value too much.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
To me, it would be And I'll give you my
reason why. My reason being is that hyperspace travel can
honestly help with trying to go see other planets looking
for a new home for us, you know, since the
Earth is basically being destroyed at this point. And yes,
(09:09):
it is there a risk of try of accidentally going
into a sun or a black hole. Yes, But there's
gonna be risks with hyperspace no matter what you do.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Yeah, more like.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
There's gonna be a risk with teleportation. Yes, it'd be handy,
but if you if if, if it's not the right coordinates,
if it's not the right like algorithm, you're gonna come
out looking like spaghetti.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Rue and it's like, as I say, I care too
much about life, then I don't know doing something stupid
and then just like whoop, have like a whipsie moment
and all of a sudden death involved. And I also
am a guy who's like, let's fix the problems here
before trying to go ruin or do something somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
And then like however, when it comes to like space
their explanation stuff, I'm like, if you can you, if
you can like mine like moon rocks and minerals, and
that's have to produce energy to barrel life here. That's
the way to go about. And plus you make money
about it. That's as far as that goes. Otherwise I'm
not interested. I like color too much.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Okay, So the next question we got it says, why
can't we have the old Star Trek spaceships and future
tech right now? We don't have the technology money, money, Yeah, technology,
we don't have the technology for it.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Yeah. And plus again I'd rather see that the money
for studying that type of stuff go to better allocated
and like other places that can benefit society now and
everything around it.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yes, yeah, I mean quite simply to put it simply,
we just don't have the money for it. I mean,
we spend trillions of dollars in military defense in the US.
I don't think we're really thinking about space right now,
since we're kind of trying to fix our own.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Country country and then try to help convince others to
fix their own environments. Because if you can't take care
of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else. And
if these other places and that will take care of themselves, then,
quite frankly, just why are you keep on trying?
Speaker 2 (11:16):
That's why we have a elon Musk he's the basically.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Yeah, but he just wants to move himself and a
bunch of people over to Mars.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yeah, good luck with that, because Mars doesn't have breathable.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Air, right, and that's where his idea of terrorforming, which
is actually pretty cool concept.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
And then millions but terror for me, ny, no, not
too much money. It takes millions of years.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Oh yeah. And then I know that next week we
are going to be doing Bethesda related stuff and we'll
go and we'll take a proper dump on uh Starfield.
But they do have that stuff on Mars in Starfield
that I theoretically could possibly work, but that's just a
(12:04):
mind And now the Sciences Day's without incident, which reminds
me I need email a Dane County supervisor.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
To like, hey, this is the ideal that we should
do that might help the area.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yes, and then another little update in July. We will
be hopefully by the time we are done moving in,
will be all set to do episodes probably every Friday.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Yeah, because we'll be having a calendar with where everything
lines up there and because of the whole topic realignment,
well not topic realignment, but more like the updated direction
of where everything's going to be going. The rest of
like what we were thinking about doing is basically just
going to be scrapped off the table. For the most part,
(12:52):
I still.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Want to do because I'm not I still want to
do those topics because I May. I took the time
to research and I took the time to actually get them,
so I still want to do the Okay here to
anyone listening out there, I'm making an executive decision, right Brandon.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Ooh fun.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
The rest of May, we're going to do the topics
that are on the list in the discord server. So
next week is Bethesa and Elder Scrolls if you're not
a discord server, Next week is Bethesa and Elder Scrolls.
May twenty third is Memorial Day History and Military Facts,
and then May thirtieth is our halfway point review, which
is our shorty episode. Then the first Friday in June,
(13:38):
we will not be picking topics anymore and we'll just
go with the narrowing dot. I don't Yes, we have
topics already for this month. I am not getting rid
of them.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Well that yeah, that's heir. And like the Memorial Day
think falls underneath the special and Bethesa kind of falls
underneath the whole gaming category. So it kind of already
lined up perfectly with the reorganization right starting next week,
everything else is scrapped.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Yes, when you think about it.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
So for like June, if we did anything for June
like pick up topics, that's script well just yeah, that's.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
You think that was like I thought about for June
is gone will be because you know, narrow get down
to essentially three topics plus specials.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Which is fine.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Yep. So that's just the general direction. And then we'll
be also probably extending length of everything by possibly doing
like segments. So let's say we were two combine segments
or like combined topics for a week, we might do
a pause where you might hear a commercial break and
then when we come back it will.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Be a correct That's a smart idea. I say we
should test that out see if audience, if the audience
lights the uh blow of that new format, and if
they don't, we go back to the all format. How
about that?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Yep, it's and I think the best way to do
that would be starting in June.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
And I would say, if you have not, please tell
us how we do on our social media platforms and
the Discord server if you're not a part of it already.
Our break is already on Facebook and X.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Yep, we're like, best way is contact us Facebook X
and then email.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yes, and and the Discord server if you're not in
the Discord server. But if that is it, then that
is it for me?
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, that's it for me again, Like you can so
our X is let's chet bete and then it'll be
underneath the name of both our names on there the
Facebook announcement page. You can find by looking up the
podcast Discord not Discord. Well, yeah, you can find a
Discord link on the Facebook, and then you have the
(16:04):
Facebook community group, and we'd like to see activity in
both the Facebook Community group and Discord until we discussed,
because of which I think is gonna be a longer
episode quite frankly, because I have to on my older
scrolls and I used to be an elder scrolls.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
And nut, I mean the.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
History stuff like Acaber and everything, and like who share
Gareth is and why the whole split between jag Leg
and Sharegareth happened, you know, just a little sneak peak.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Yeah, So I mean next week will be our longer episode,
but we'll see all them, yep. Peace
