Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome back to say it as it is with Brandon
and Tyler. Tyler is out doing uber and he also
didn't want to himself to record this week due to
insomnia issues and I wanted to do purely baseball. We
tried getting them sub I'm playing other sub list from Salway,
and stuff happens. We can keep on going.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Anyways, this Timmer round, I'm going unscripted. Is it a
good idea for me going scripted or so well unscripted? Yes,
Solo not so much because he usually goes scripted. Anyways,
in the baseball world, Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Has been on a tour at hot streak, as in
like thirteen straight and they've been scarring a crap tender run.
Pittsburgh just kind of rolled over and died the previous
series and Blackie got free burgers, and I was told
that those burgers are actually mediocre, But when they're free, no,

(01:17):
there's a lot better then because they're free. Anyways. Baseball
America also released their prospect rankings in the past few days.
They're pretty reliable when it comes to the firm system rankings. Now,
obviously you can't go on the LB website and pull

(01:39):
up whatever like you want related to baseball, and they
have their own ranking system from three days ago as well.
Naturally they like just embracing the Dodgers and doing that
whole stick where they put LA's number one, no surprise
to anyone, then they put Minnesota's number two. They sold

(02:03):
their entire team, so not really much the prize there.
Seattle is ranked three on their system, Milwaukee is ranked fourth,
Cleveland fifth, Detroit six, and then they put the Mets
at number seven. I'm not going to continue on their list,
but with Baseball America's system, I think it's more interesting.

(02:27):
So first off, number one is Milwaukee, Number two is Pittsburgh, three,
Detroit four, Minnesota five, Boston six to Seattle seven, Dodgers
eight Athletics nine, Mets ten, Cincinnati eleven, Baltimore twelve, Arizona thirteen,
Marlins fourteen, Saint Louis fifteen, Cleveland sixteen, San Francisco seventeen,

(02:52):
Yankee eighteen, White Socks nineteen Phillies twenty is Tampa Washington
twenty two is the Cubs. Now, what in the world
happened with the Cubs? Like, oh my goodness, they are
after the All Star break. They just want dialld spiral

(03:15):
earlier than they usually do, and they have the twenty
two like the twenty second farms the best pharm system
or ranked twenty second farm system of grand to Baseball America.
Twenty three is Tron twenty four, Kansas City, twenty five,
Angels twenty six, Texas Rangers, twenty seven, Colorado twenty eight, Houston,

(03:37):
twenty nine Atlanta, and to no one's surprise, number thirty
is San Diego. San Diego. They gave away their entire
farm system, excluding and Ethan Sallas, who is the number
sixty third top one of the top one hundred prospects

(04:00):
in baseball basic catcher, and he can't under like, you
don't want to give up like these top catchers or
potentially top catchers, because really good catchers are hard to
come by, so therefore they're probably gonna hold on to them,
unless if well Treller is like, hey, let's just trade

(04:23):
away Sallas now and remove the farm system or the
non existent farm system that they have. Naturally, Toronto has
to have a deep run this year because that's not
a good ranking for them. Dodgers, like everyone else, we
wish they just went away now after this year and

(04:46):
next year is after after their whole contract like their
players Association working contract thing or agreement with the MLB
will be expired, there will be another lockout, and it's
over salary cap. Now, with the salary cap right now,

(05:13):
you only have a luxury tax, which is more like
a soft salary cap. You get punished, you might lose
draft picks, you might lose actually no, you do lose money.
You get tax. It's literally a tax you just pay
into the league for and when it comes to players,
half of their salary is taken out due to taxes. Anyways,

(05:33):
but only the Dodgers and the Mets basically ignore the
salary t e luxury tax. That's you know what I mean,
the luxury tax. And the Dodgers have like a billion
dollars over a billion dollars in deferred money, basically mortgaging

(05:59):
away they're future to go on like a ten to
fifteen year run of deep playoff runs and championships, and
like six hundred and eighty million dollars of that is
a Otani's albatross where it looks, which is actually a
really good and clever way to do out, like to

(06:22):
create that contract because he gets paid two million a
year while he's playing, and then when he retires is
when everything else is due. We can't wait to see
their downfall anyways, the luxury cracks I think should be
left in place. After they put a salary cap in.

(06:45):
Harper told Manfred to not come into their clubhouse and
to go f himself over the salary cap. The salary
cap is more meant to punish Steve Cohen also knows
daddy Steve out in the world of the Mets, who
just says, hey, so too, here's seven hundred million dollars

(07:06):
to just give up front and there's no deferred money
because he doesn't care. He just wants to just pump
money into the Mets until they win a championship. And well,
like it's it doesn't that's not really working for him. Currently,

(07:27):
it's entirely possible for both New York teams to not
be in the playoffs this year, which would be the
funniest thing out there. If the Dodgers weren't miss that'd
be hilarious too, But that's not gonna They're going to
be in the playoffs. I personally think one of two
New York teams will be in playoffs, but not both

(07:49):
and then of course the Dodgers with all their deferred
money and the salary cap. Thing is to basically punish
those two teams while the other twenty eight teams look
at those two organizations go screw you guys for doing this.
And then you have some people who who are like

(08:10):
the Cubs, who have a ton of money because they're
like one of the largest markets, and their ownership is cheap.
They don't trade away prospects, they don't spend during free agency,
and they're just kind of content that they won championship
nine years ago. That is going to do basically nothing.

(08:36):
It's just like, hey, you're gonna have to see a
great season, been hit about the last six weeks of
the regular season, which are the most important weeks, and
you'll see the team tank. And then the White Sox
fans and anyone he doesn't like the Cubs, which are
Brewer fans and St. Louis fans go. Cubs are an
acronym for completely useless by September and they only have

(09:02):
one year of Kyle Tucker. Cayle Tucker is gonna get
paid during the off season. Now with that lockout, I
personally would recommend don't sign anyone to more than a
one year contract because of said lockout. Otherwise all those
contracts can get Grandpa bothered in and that will be

(09:27):
just cap hell for a lot of teams, And I
mean a lot honestly. If you pose like I still
say to a floor and cap where you want to
have a floor of about ninety million dollars and like,

(09:51):
you can create some pretty competitive teams by doing that realistically,
Like look at Tampa they put about ninety million dollars
and out of know where they are usually like the
best ninety win team you've never heard of, a bunch
of nobody's, but they get the job done. And the

(10:13):
Marlins they're not doing anything. They are at sixty six
point one mill Athletics, which no one wants to play for,
and are playing in Triple A Ballpark and Sacramento until
their stadium in Vegas is built. They're at seventy seven
point three. The White Socks are at seventy seven point

(10:34):
four six, Pittsburgh is at eighty two point six. So
really it's like Tampa Bay is the cutoff right now,
they're at like eighty seven mill. But if you want

(10:55):
to just make rounding the math easy call it ninety mil.
So it's like pay least ninety mili half and then
you will go down to the highest paid rosters. You
have Houston at two hundred and thirty one mil, Toronto
two hundred and fifty two mil. Affiliate to like to

(11:15):
eighty eight mil to ninety eight for the Yankees, three
thirty nine for the Mets, and three forty one for
the Dodgers. Where you have and that's like not in
deferred is well north of a billion for them. So

(11:35):
realistically you want floors like ninety mil, and I'd put
a cap at like two hundred and twenty million, leave
it zip for three years and think mump up to
two forty and just leave it at two forty because
that'll be a healthy balance the teams. You can spread
out the talent and leave all the current contracts in
there and let those expect the new contracts fall in there.

(11:58):
And as I said, the talent spreads out, then there
is even more parody. The more parody the better. Like
when you look at the NFL, you don't want to
be any team though, You'll either want to be competing
for a championship or you just want tank hard. You
do not want to be in the middle. Hocke, you
have to look into a bit more basketball. Honestly, I

(12:21):
don't care about the NBA. I'd be real with y'allos,
I do not care about the NBA. College is more
interesting to watch. But even with like college players getting
paid down to how large a transfer portal is, Honestly,
I'm like, I start to not care about that whole lot. However,

(12:42):
do I approve of college players getting paid, Yes, but
they have to only do it with like sponsorships and
not any other way Otherwise, No, because there are getting
full right scholarships from those universities. To cop it for
another day, The best matchups for you alls to watch

(13:09):
if you have LB TV are fable to watch. I'm
just unfortunately not lobbed in. Give me one moment. Okay,

(13:29):
so uh, since A versus Milwaukee should be a good
matchup because in Division Pittsburgh's garbage against the Cubswinsier Cubs fan,
you don't want to watch that. Seattle and Mets will
be good, Toronto and Texas should be fine. Detroit versus
Minso will not be interesting because Minnesota doesn't have a

(13:50):
team anymore. They sold half their team because fun fact,
there were four hundred and twenty five million dollars in debt.
And then San Diego versus LA will be interesting. I
know yesterday Baltimore almost had a perfect game against Houston

(14:12):
that got broken up in the last four outs of
the game. And then if you think baseball is too boring,
well maybe check out an add of all. I don't
know what I tell you. I'm a baseball guy. I know,
Tyler's baseball guy. I like hockey, and then the other
ones kind of don't care about. However, the NFL. I
