Speaker 1 (00:02):
How are you raising your children? This is not part
of the message you but your decide to bring this
one up. This money because this video was sent to
me and then it was it caught my attention. I've
sent it on our waterapp group so you can look
at it again. But I want to challenge every one
of us that thinks that disciplining a child, eh, that
(00:26):
you are being wicked to the child, even those of
us that are yet to become parents. All we are
saying is that our future hm, this is church. That
the future is going to be worse than what we
are saying today. That's what we are painting. Some of
us go to farm, we go everywhere. Our children never
(00:48):
go to farm. They just sit down at home. They
waste away and they constitute a nuisance and they become
big boys and girls in the house. They don't know
any think about life at all. And then we think
we are raising children. H. In the last few days
(01:11):
we have the Lord has given us two beautiful children
and with thank God for it. But you see, it's
all in our hands, parents, it's all in our hands.
Do you want to know how the future will look like?
Just wait and see how your children display their attitude.
(01:34):
Then you can tell it's not magic. Eh. There are
some things that you don't need to pray about. You
just see them happening. You just see them happen. But
just want to call our attention to this. How are
you training your children? And for those of us who
are young people, all right, supposing your parents you think
(01:57):
they've not done enough by training you, well, they say, way,
you can turn things around and you can become a
better you. And that's all I want to say about that.
Don't let your children the those that constitute nuisance in
the environment. For us, we don't need any more of
(02:18):
those children. We don't need any more of those children.
And by the way, if you think you are taking
care of your own children, well you see, that's the
reason why we are to do the prayer. We did
this money for our children. Eh, that's one of the reasons.
Some of these are children. They are engaged in different
kind of people out there. School don't start again, so
(02:41):
you don't know what they are going to eat. They
go chop something, We'll be saying, they go come inside
your house. You go begin to see this kind thing.
Way the wait, did your son never have you talk
before you begin. Yeah, wait, did they wront with this
boy like this? But that the no entire brain say something?
Don't they apple spiritualign Please let's be careful our girls.
(03:04):
I begin to dress and there is nothing about it. Eh.
May the Lord help us in Jesus name. You see,
there are some things that we should not be praying about.
That's me personality. There are some things we should train.
That's what the Bible say, train op a child. He
(03:24):
didn't say we should pray. No, there's room for prayer.
H May God help us in Jesus name. Right charge
this money. Let me start from a dickness question. Father,
we ask that you would teach us your word this
day in the name of Jesus. Let it be a
(03:45):
revelation beyond the letters, to the glory and honor of
your name. In Jesus' name, we pray. All right, So
let me begin from the from dickness question last week.
So I'll just touch on it briefly, and then I
(04:05):
will go to what I want us to do today.
It's not going to be too long. I trust God
for it. Then will give room for interactions again like
we've always been doing. So Dickness was asking the matter
of eating one's tight, because some people will say that
(04:34):
the Bible say that we can eat our tight. So
let's understand what the Bible has to say about eating
one's tight, so that we have a clear understanding of
what God has to say for us, because many Christians
are confused when they read the israels that Israel was
(04:58):
told to eat the app and understanding this requires seeing
the three different kinds of tides. All right, we have
mentioned it, but let's take a deeper look into those.
Just if it won't belong, I'll just point at those things,
and then this response will help us to grabs the
(05:21):
meaning of eating the tights and what it meant. So
we look at that. So we look at some biblical texts,
and then us looking at Deuteronomy chapter twelve, seventeen to nineteen,
then chapter fourteen twenty two to twenty nine. I think
there's one other text from numbers. So we just look
at all of those very briefly, and then we see
(05:44):
what God has for us. So let's first go to
Deuteronomy chapter twelve, seventeen to nineteen. Look at what the
Bible says said. It says you must not eat in
your own towns, the type of your green and new
wine and olive oil, or the first bone of your
(06:06):
heads and flocks, or whatever you are vowed to give,
or your free will offering or special gifts. Eighty says, Instead,
you are to eat them in the presence of the
Lord your God. At the place the Lord your God
will choose you your sons and your daughters, your male
(06:31):
and female servants, and the levites from your towns, and
you are to rejoice before the Lord your God in
everything you put your hand to. Verse nineteen says, be
careful not to neglect the levites, all right, as long
as you live in your land. Okay, so that's do
(06:54):
you see what the Bible's saying there, So keep that
in mind. Then the other one says in Deuteronomy fourteen
twenty two, distribute to to twenty nine. But let's take
it portion by portion, all right. Be sure to set
aside a tenth that's the type. Now, what's wrong to
(07:22):
set a tenth of all that your fields produce each year?
It's the type of your grain, new wine and olive oil,
and the first bone of your heads and flocks. In
the presence of the Lord your God at the place
(07:46):
it we choose as a dwelling for its name, so
that you may learn to rever the Lord your God.
But if that place is too distant.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
And you have been blessed by the Lord your God
and cannot carry your tythe because the place where the
Lord we choose to put its name is so far away.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
So Verse twenty five, then exchange your type for silver.
That is, like you know, selling your type, right, you
sell it, and then the money you not carry the money,
and take the silver with you and go to the
place the Lord your God we choose. Use the silver
(08:34):
that is the money to buy whatever you like, cattle, shape,
wine and other fermented drinks, or anything you wish. Then
you and your household shall eat there in the presence
of the Lord your God, and rejoice. And do not
neglect the levies living in your towns, for they have
(08:58):
no alongments or inheritance of their room. Twenty eight says
at the end of every three years, bring all the
tithes of that year's produce and start it in your towns,
so that the levites, who have no allotments or inheritance
(09:19):
of their own, and the foreigners, the fatherless, and the
widows who live in your towns may come and eat
and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God
may bless you in all the work of your hands. Right,
(09:39):
so three tights are mentioned. Okay, three tights are mentioned.
So the first one is the levitical tithe, the sacred
tythe We have talked about it already, so I'll just
mentioned it in past. So it belongs to the tides.
Every year they will have to bring these. It is
ten percent. Okay, that is the levitical tithe. Okay, that's
(10:06):
the first one. So the one that we're talking about
now is is the festival or rejoicing tithe. Okay, the
festival type or rejoicing tight. That is the second type
of tide. So the purpose of that is to be
eating and enjoyed in God's presence as an act of worship.
(10:32):
You don't eat it at all. I hope saw it
in that text, those scriptural passages. I read right, you
don't eat it at all. You must bring it to
where God has chosen for you to worship. Okay, so
today we can take it to the what we call
(10:55):
the swallow ship. H So you bring it here. Everybody
bring whatever they are, and then we eat it together.
But even though it is the title of these people,
but God is saying you are not to eat it
at home, but you we bring it to the House
of God and everybody, your family, everybody that we eat
(11:17):
it today. But it is not only your family that
we eat it, but you also prepare portions for the
priests out of it, all right. So where are there
supposed to do it? The place the Lord chooses, and
it's supposed to be a solemn monthfold duty. No, I
mean not a solemn or monthful duties. A place of
(11:39):
rejoicing where you celebrate, all right, that's what that is
meant for. And so the key future of that again
continues to say, a portion of grain, wine, oil, lifetalk
and all of those things. The entire household we participat
in it, and then it was a festival of that's
(12:00):
what you see in that particular one, all right. So
it is not something that so when somebody comes and
say the Bible say we should eat our tipe, don't
let us just isolate a portion of the Bible and
capitalize on it and form a doctrine out of it.
Let's allow the Bible to so you see that there
are three. So the third one, the third one is
the charity type, okay, which is meant for the poor
(12:24):
people in the community. In those texts I read again,
it says that every three years you're supposed to bring
this together so that the widows, the widows, the offhanse,
and the less privilege in the society, they will also
participate of what the Lord has blessed you with. In fact,
he says, then they levites, the foreigners, all of them,
(12:46):
they will all be they will all participate in it.
All right, is that play? So what's the the theological
significance of this? Now, the understanding here is that typing
was not just a tax. Typing is not a tax,
(13:11):
but it was worship, fellowship and socio key. That is
very important. So it is not you have to you
must bring ten percent and that is this thing you
must if you don't bring it, and you know it
is beyond that, it's a way of worshiping God. That's
what God intends that to be. So God reminded Israel
(13:33):
that he is the source of all the blessings Roman
I mean Deuteronomy fourteen twenty three. So joy, generosity and
compassion at the hearts of true giving. You know this
subject of tax, we investigate more. You know, Nanagia, you
(13:54):
have to go and do your most pay tax now
if you have not been paying tax. The federal government
has put up a law so that by January faus
this year, your team number, everything else to be ready.
So if you're doing business, but we'll find out details
of what it requires so that we can tell all
of us and we know where we stand as a church.
(14:17):
So that But I am sure that even at the
association yesterday, they gave us an understanding that we should
not panic and say that after generally, first you will
not have access to your money. No, that's not what
the law says. You will say have access to your money.
(14:38):
But we get detailed on our understanding about this, and
then we'll be able to inform the church about it.
All right, Okay, so man, is that fair? Bit? So
we all understand. So eating of the tides, it's not
just that you won't bring the tides. There's the one
that you must bring. There's the one that goes to
(14:59):
the let privilege. Even with that world that you are
going to eat, you come, you bring it in the
presence of the Lord, that's where you eat it. So
that's for them. But let's not go to the New Testament.
Something is wrong with this setting. Let's now go to
the to the New Testament and see what God has
(15:19):
for us in that place. So New start Testament given principles.
All right, It is grace based giving. Can we say
it together? Grace based given? All right? So, and that's
what we're going to look at again in the next
couple of minutes. So let's pay attention. So we look
(15:40):
at Matthew chapter six one to four, Acts two forty
four to forty seven, part of where we read in
our commenter Bible reading this morning, and then Second Corinthians
chapters eight to nine. But we just pick out some
points from those places and see how God is going
(16:01):
to help us, all right. So Number one thing that
I want us to understand is that New Testament given
is secret. And since here can we all say it together?
New Testament given is secret? And since here, okay, so
(16:25):
what does that mean? Let's read the Bible Matthew six
one to four. Be careful not to practice your righteousness
in front of others to be seen by. Then when
you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpet. Okay,
(16:49):
that is a pabolic Eh. That writing is a public
of course, you will not carry trumpet and start blowing it,
all right. But the Bible is trying to emphasize something there.
But when you give, do not let your left hand
know what your right hand is doing. So that you're
(17:09):
giving may be in secret. Then your father, who sees
what is done in secret, we reward you. So the
New Testament idea of giving is secret. So the principle
is that what you are giving the other person. Of course,
(17:31):
so when the Bible is say the right hand should
not know ami the left and you don't know where
the right hand is given, is saying that the other
person should not know what you are giving, so you
give it the secret. What do we understand from that?
The key point there is that Jesus wants against giving
for show off or priest. It is only when you
(17:52):
go for the old one base that one is permitted.
Adi that one's permitted. Okay, you are doing launching outside
the church, and you are doing all of those kinds
of things. Eh, then you know you're singing. As you're singing,
they're just praising you. And there your head, is your tony,
is your tony? Ah, then just carry out your bang ballace.
(18:15):
Just begin this praying musician, just the praying musician. Yes,
you can do that outside, it's not I don't have
anything against it. You can go ahead, But as far
as the church is concerned, that is showing off. Don't
do it in the church. Don't do it in the church.
You're showing off. So Jesus wants against such kind of
(18:37):
a thing. And then the one that you say, pastor,
announce my name. I am giving ten billionaire for the
church for this one, this one announced my name the church. No,
God doesn't want that show off. God doesn't want that
show off. But can the pastor announce that someone has given? Yes,
(18:58):
why not? And I've done that several times. The family
is blessing the church with this. There are times that
I don't mention the family, but there are times that
the family will come and you know, so it could happen.
But what is their heart? Their heart is key to God.
(19:19):
All right. True giving is not for public display. But
it is between you and God. Ah, that is true giving.
It's not for public display. Everybody, come and know what
I'm giving, all right, God, rewards sincere secret and spirit
(19:42):
led given. But of course there's a way you can
do it. So once you do it your own way,
you would have received the blessing. But the wound that
God actually worthy world is what you have here. So
what is the context. Let's put it today. In some
churches today people give just to have their names on
(20:05):
the donation list or to be given front seats. Jesus
says that that is all the reward that we get.
That they will just mention your name and they will
put you in front seat. That's all you get. God
looks at the heart, not the hype. Is that strange? Eh?
(20:39):
Is that strange? But that's exactly what the Bible wants
us to do, all right. Number two, New Testament given
is voluntary and community focused. New Testaments given is voluntary
(21:03):
and what community focused? Voluntary? That nobody has forced you
to do it. You have decided in your heart to
do it, and so you do it. Why community focused?
Because you have seen a need to do it, and
(21:27):
then you are convinced of that need and you go
ahead to give. Look at what the Bible says Acts
Chapter two four, forty five and forty seven. So I've
got it. So all the believers were together and had
everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give
(21:48):
to any one who had need, and the Lord added
to their number daily those who were being saved. What's
the point. The key principle that you see here is
that any Christians were not first to give. They did
it willingly. And that is our model. Nobody first and
(22:11):
anybody to give. No, they were willing. In fact, when
you get to chapter four again you will towards the
latter part of it. You will see We're bannerbas contributed
to the growth of the church. And then in chapter
(22:31):
five you will now see Annias and Saphira they decided
that they will sell their plot of land, and they
sold the plot of land. After they finished selling the land,
they now came to the apostles and they say, Pastor,
this is what we have sold. It's no more than
that too, and we too, we have come. And if
(22:56):
you listen to the conversation, Peter was telling them that
it is not something that belongs to you. Why are
you going to lie to the old spirit. It belongs
to you. They didn't force you to bring it. Others
are doing it. They are not saying because others are doing,
but because you also want to say, everybody notice me
or me too, I don't contribute to And that was
(23:19):
where the challenge was. So the pipe is saying, that
is not the kind of thing that God expects of us.
So what God expects of us, be willing. And then
it should be a voluntary thing, not something that somebody forced.
You know, it is you that decided in your heart.
(23:42):
So they are giving was a way to meet the
needs and build unity in the body of Christ. They say,
focus is community. We do it for the benefit of everybody.
As a result, what happened, God increased the church. God
(24:04):
increased the church. Imagine a church where the wealthy help
the struggling members, schoofies, lend food all of those not
by force, but from love. That is the New Testament,
(24:25):
given in action. I have what other people don't have,
and I say a need in the life of their child,
in the life of that family, and I take a
step to go and bless the family. I don't need
to announce it, or perhaps you don't even want them
to know you, all right, And that happens a lot.
(24:48):
It happens back then, Mother Church, there's a family that
we always give the dickens every year at the beginning
of the year. This man will always, you know, get some.
It doesn't matter the number of the dickens. And in
(25:09):
that church they have I think, I don't know, maybe
they are less than twenty five now, but I know
they have up to twenty five twenty twenty five dickens
in Garrikeee. But all of them, all of them, there
will be something packaged for them. Every year. A woman
just passed. Just in fact, they just went for the
(25:32):
barrier yesterday, I think yesterday or this past week. Each
time they are having the annual Thanksgiving in the church,
this woman, because she's a caterer, she will get a
stand of her own. She will make body make different
kinds of things, and then she would distribute and give everybody.
(25:56):
She will bring our workers to come and do it.
And it got to a point that some people started
complaining that this woman, it's only some people that she
used to give. She doesn't even give anything. And after all,
we are the world who gave our money to do
all these things. And I came to the church and
they are to see this one that you're seeing or
(26:17):
not be anybody give. It is out of our own
that she gave it. The church did not give her
a penny, and she has been doing it year in
year out. During VBS, she would do something for the children.
Did they force her to do it? Nobody does, No
one ever did that. That is giving you see in
(26:41):
need in the life of the church. That is the
level that God wants us to get to. It is
not a time to say I don't have anything. That's
which you have. How do you think you can become
a blessing to the body of Christ through what you have?
It is not money. This woman didn't. It wasn't even money.
(27:06):
It's just part of what she knew that she can
use to bless and she's doing it. So which one
is yours? Number three? New Testaments Given is grace based
and spirit laid. New Testaments Given is grace based and
(27:30):
spirit laid. We have touched on this before, but I'm
bringing it up again. Second Corinthians from chapter eight three
to five, then chapter ninety six and seven. For I
testify that they that they gave as much as they
(27:50):
were able, and even beyond their ability. They audiently pleaded
with those for the privilege of sharing these are the
Macedonian Christians. They were even begging Paul. They don't have
so much. It's a poor community. But they were even
(28:10):
begging because Paul was saying, hey, don't even give, don't
you you don't don't let us bother you. But they
said no, please give us the opportunity to give. Why
they say the giving beyond just giving. They are saying
it as an opportunity to contribute to the growth of
the Body of Christ. Each of you should give what
(28:34):
you have decided with in your heart, what you have
decided in your heart, Give it not reluctantly or under compulsion.
For God loves a cheerful giver. We have dealt with
(28:56):
this before when we looked at the heart of the giver.
But what's the key insight that I want to get
from here? The Macedonian Christians gave sacrificially even though they
were poor. So before somebody say me, I am cookoo poor,
You're not just cuckoo poor. It is just that your
(29:18):
mind is poor. And if your mind is poor, it
will affect your physical life too. These Christians, the Macedonian Christians,
were poor people from every standard, yet they pleaded that
they wanted to also give, and they gave sacrificially beyond
(29:40):
what they could ordinarily have given. Giving should be planned
from their hearts and joyful plant plan you're given, Oh today,
Oh God has blessed me. This is what I want
to give, and you go ahead and give it. There
(30:08):
is no fixed amount, only a call to give generously
and cheerfully. The difference between Old Testament and New Testament given.
In the Old Testament given it is ten percent. But
in New Testament everything is combined. It is not ten percent.
(30:34):
In fact, by analysis, eh, it is more even more
than ten percent. Because if God had taken care of you.
Somebody had an accident and the person is in the
hospital spending millions and you God has rescued you, eh,
(31:01):
and you are opportune the same road where you follow
the person follow that road and the person nearly can
put but God stay keep in life. And the they
hospital and they say make it bring five million before
they go solve the problem with in life. But you
easily you pass that road and you reach out safely,
(31:25):
and then as you come you won't Comet does do
this thing. They can look for one this wife foundering alies. Okay,
that's all God deserves for his protection over your life,
and then you come and give, give generously and cheerfully.
(31:51):
The contrast, yet, between the Old Testament and New Testament
is that in the Old Testament, giving like tides, was require.
You don't have a choice, it was required, you must
give it. And I'm sure that you can notice it
from those three types of tides that I mentioned earlier on.
(32:16):
Nobody nobody is exempt. Everybody. Everybody must give, everyone must give.
In the New Testament, giving is free will, but goes
deeper because it comes from the hearts and is guided
(32:40):
by the spirit. So it is expected that it is
the only spirit that has prompted you to give what
you have given. That's the difference, So you're not first.
It's a free will. The important thing to notere is
that New Testaments given is not about less giving, no,
(33:03):
but about better giving. And a better giving is something
that is intentional, something that is sacrificial, something that is
spirit led, something that is joy fielled. That is the
kind of giving that the New Testament has pushed to us.
(33:29):
So let's do a comparison between Malachi chapter three. You
remember that six to twelve and then second coninnfience six
to eight. So if you look at those two sites
in Malachi, the Bible says, bring the ald tides. And
if you don't bring it, what apple you are rubber?
(33:55):
Is that also? Eh? Malachi says bring the old time
all of them, don't remove. And if you don't bring it,
what happened? You're a thief. You're a robber. But in
New Testament, give what you decided in your heart, not
(34:16):
on that compulsion, not because they force you to give it.
Do we get a just are we following? Is it Claire?
Is it Claire? Okay? Some people are here too, They're
still confused. A Malachi giving was a command. In the
(34:43):
Old Testament, failure brought a course. So if you don't give,
you you're in trouble. You are bringing course over yourself.
That's Old Testament. But in New Testament giving is voluntary,
it is spirit led, and no purse is attached to it.
(35:06):
That is New Testament. Again. In the Old Testament, the
motivation is obedience and fear. That's are you most operate to.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
You?
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Remember when we're looking at it last week, we said
that if this one you feel, this one is even No,
I don't let me give that one, let me give
this other one that is not looking good. The Bible says,
the one that you early are chosen, you have chosen
earlier on and the one you want to replace it.
(35:44):
Two of them together, Eh, they now become God to
It's it's it's obedience and fear. But in New Testament
it is love, joy and peace and grace. So it's
it's it's a grace of God that you have to give.
(36:05):
It's not everybody that gives, but that you are able
to give. It is the grace of God. In Old Testaments,
the promise that you have there is material blessing and protection,
all right. But in New Testament the promise is the
Bible say, grace to abound in every good work. Grace
(36:30):
to abound in every good work. So it is not
just about material blessing. It is not just about protection.
It is an all round that blessing. That's what the
New Testament says to us. And finally, there the amount
in Old Testament is what ten percent is a required
(36:54):
thing that you must give. But in New Testament, as
a lead the spirit, it can be more, it can
be less. So when you hear some people who say
I am giving ninety percent. Well, it is the grace
that has been given to them. If God has not
given you such grace, eh, let the only Spirit help you.
(37:20):
But willingness, voluntary giving is important in all of this,
all right, So let's conclude typing in the Old Testament
was like paying taxes. Giving in the New Testament is
like giving your parents a gift, not because you must,
(37:42):
but why because you love them. Because you love them,
so grace giving goes beyond ten percent. It gives everything
God leads you to give. The key take away from
us in all of this is that giving in the
New Testament is not first but from a willing and
(38:02):
a generous heart. Grace based giving comes after encountering the
love of Christ. So all of this word that we
are discussing, if you have not encountered the love of Christ,
it will still be a burden to you, right, it
will be a body. So somebody who has encounter Christ.
That's where it begins from. That's where it begins from.
(38:25):
Because you will never be able to see the reason
to give, because you have not recognized the fact that
God gave his only begotten son. The only Spirit guides
each believer in what an hour to give? So what's
the only spirit telling you this money to give? As
we give the offering this morning, God still a word's
(38:47):
faithful giving, not just with money, but with grace, with
peace and opportunities. You don't give to buy blessing or
avoid courses. That's not the reason why you give, is So,
that's not the reason why you give. You don't give
(39:08):
because you want to buy blessing or to avoid courses.
You gave because you are grateful, because you are blessed already,
because you want to be a blessing. That's to be
the reason why we should give. God doesn't count nairah
and cobble. It looks at the heart the sacrifice and
the jury behind it. So this week, don't just give
(39:31):
because it is Sunday. No, but give because you love
the Lord. Give as a spirit leads you and made
the Lord apples to be faithful in this in Jesus' name.
So all right, before we pray any question and interaction.
(39:54):
So let's go quickly over this and then we'll be
able to we'll be able to say some I mean,
we sing our hand and then we go on giving.
We take some announcements and then we'll be on our
way home. Yes, anybody okay? One mister Uji, two mister Soho,
three mister Dugara. Four Bae bae. Okay, that's all, thank
(40:21):
you very much, sir. So mister where's the mic? Please?
What is mike? I don't know what to bebout. People
use it last night and you didn't charge it. Eh.
(40:45):
My question is like this. I noticed that some churches
they used to give their title without recording it, but
baptize nowadays all since they are recording it. Why. The
(41:10):
reason why that is done in the Baptist is primarily
for accountability, and it is between you and God. So
at the end of the year, you look at that card,
that card, because usually you should have the card. At
the end of the year, you should have the card
(41:30):
so that new year they will give you a fresh card.
All right, So you have to look at yourself and
in your room have a personal talk with God. So
have you been faithful? Have you been faithful? Have I
been faithful? That's just the reason for that. It's just
to app us to be accountable, is to help us
(41:54):
to be accountable. And there's nothing wrong with that. There's
nothing wrong with that, you know it. When the spirits
say you should do this, you should do this, all right.
The point is this, where you faithful, when God says
should do that, you yourself, you will know now, and
I should guide them so that in the new year
(42:16):
I should do as the Lord leads me to do
so just for the purpose of accountability, not because anybody
is going to you know, mark or do anything. No,
God doesn't need it. It's just for you. It's for
each and every one of us, so that when we
look at it and we are accountable, all right, that's
just the purpose for it, yes, ma'am. The cards, well,
(42:47):
I think from what we have studied in the scriptures,
I don't think it is the business of that pastor
to do because as first Bible is concerned, what you
are giving is between you and God. Yes, some people
are doing it. In fact, for me as a person
(43:11):
earlier when I came, when I first came, because I
always transfer my tithe straight to the church's account, all right,
and not until somebody from the account how to clarify,
because there was an understanding that pastor doesn't give tide,
you understand, So it was asked and only then that
(43:34):
one of the people in the accounts because they see
the alerts and they say, oh, no, it is not
so this person gives all right. So it is not
between even for the money counter the only just recorded.
It is between the individual member and God. So as
far as I'm concerned, no, I don't think, not just me.
(43:58):
I'm sure the way we have looked at the Bible,
it is not for it's not for anybody to use
it and use it to preach. But I can tell
you that in some of the churches they do. Now.
In fact, if we are going to come for your
name of your baby, we will bring out the tithing
card and we'll check how much you are being contributed
(44:18):
to the growth of the church. If your popsy die,
your mom say die, make we go, we go look now,
or you want, mardy, we go carry the card. Come.
Dispersing on the contribute to the growth of the church,
he said, no, they will keep it aside. They won't
do anything. But excuse me, let's come to the knowledge
(44:38):
of the Bible. Is that exactly what God wants us
to do? No, as far as the Bible is concerned,
why are we doing that? We are doing that just
to encourage us so that we will be able to
you know, will be, will give. But it's one thing
about God is this You can see it from the
New Testament. It's a lon the very thing. Even you're
(45:01):
coming to church. I can only at best I can say, Ah,
I can encourage you. Please come to church, Let's worship together,
Let's do this one together, and all of that. That's
the best I can do. I can never force you
to come to this place. No, I cannot. It is
not the mandate that God. Even God does not force anybody.
(45:23):
In the Old Testament, he says I have placed before
you life and death. But he says, choose life. It's
just advising, no, choose life. But you know that when
people see choose, they choose death.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Right.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
Is it God's fault? It's not God's fault. The Bible says,
for Gods all love the world that he gave you,
only begot you, so that whosoever listen, whosoever believed in him,
we're not perishh Is that not that? That's what God
has said. Didn't force anybody to come to him. No,
he didn't force anybody. It's your choice. So if you
(45:59):
decide that I want to follow Jesus today is your choice.
But the best thing I can do is to appeal.
And that's what Corinthians is saying. We appeal to you
in Christ Jesus be reconciled to God. So we can
only appeal that you come and reconcile with God. But
I cannot force you to do what you don't want
(46:20):
to do. And on the day of judgment, it is
your what you have decided. That's what is going to
speak for you. All right, May God help us in
Jesus name. All right, honorable?
Speaker 2 (46:34):
So who.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
Of the parsonal constituency they we hear you praise alone?
Speaker 3 (46:43):
They do?
Speaker 1 (46:44):
Some question is on ten percent? Okay, sir? I want
to know that. Is it good for me to touch
a ten percent? I want to appeal to you not
to touch. If that is what you have decided to give,
(47:05):
don't touch it, give it, okay. The reason why I
asked this question is that there was a time I
asked this question in one of the Baptist church. For example.
Now I have packaged my ten percent and I'm ready
and I'm going to church. On my way to the church, oh,
(47:28):
I just came out from the house and I discovered
that one of my neighbor was seriously sick, which I
don't have any other money that I can assist him
to go to hospital. Is it good for me to
touch that ten percent and send him to hospital? No, sir, no,
(47:52):
it is not good. The same thing with your offering.
And that's why the Bible saying it's about your heart.
What have you decided? You have decided this money you
are going to give it? If it's not just about
tide now or offering. Even if you have decided in
(48:13):
your heart that, oh, there's a family that are indigen
and you want to assist them, and you have decided that, Ah,
thank you God, I want to give them this one
thousand and as you have going and you see another
person with another kind of challenge and you are related
to those people too. No, you have decided in your
heart that that is what you want to give these people. No,
(48:36):
let God help you to provide something for that other family.
Go ahead and bless this one and let it be
between you and God. It is about the heart, and
that's why the Bible is saying, what you have decided,
So what you have decided is what you will give.
(49:00):
They move out of it, because that's which you have decided.
It means that there is a connection between you and
the spirit, that that is what he wants you to give,
and then you give it. It's tough, very tough. Secondly, yes, sir,
(49:24):
I want to know, is it every money that ones
can give us a ten percent? When we studied the
beginning from the beginning when Abraham gave to make kissedech
(49:46):
the tenth that I gave from where did they give it?
M hmm. From the blessing? From the blessing? What has
God blessed you with this week or the past week?
What has God blessed you with in the past week?
(50:09):
That is where you remove. It's just an out of
appreciation God. I am thankful to you for this blessing.
And you bring it, and you bring part of it
and give it to the Lord if you want to
give it. But God will not force you to bring
it in the first place. So if you want to,
you just want to give it to appreciate God. That sitter.
(50:36):
Every blessing, every blessing that comes to you is what
God wants you to appreciate Him with that that you do.
So it's that of the blessing. Yes, it everywhere, every everywhere,
every way. Because there are some blessings, people call it blessing.
And it come in different ways. Lessen. For example, now
(50:58):
where I'm working, okay, and it happens that the money
there are some of us as a Christian, maybe from
your working place, your boss send you that go and
buy so so so things for me. And maybe you
tell your boss that this is the amount of what
I'm going to buy for you. And it happens that
it's not the writer it. Maybe you top something on,
(51:21):
you put something on top, So can I use such
money to give him the church? I don't have scriptural
backing for this. Just like Paul, we say there are
some matters that he didn't have. Boy said, counsel, this
(51:44):
is my counsel. Please don't please don't why because God
knows where you are bringing it from. You have been
dubious to get that money. I don't know because I'm
not the one receiving it. Take the instances of Annas
(52:06):
and Sapphirah what happened. What you have just done is
to lie and God will not bless you for that. Yes,
the money you know is big. You see it is tough.
But you see, if it can just be obedient. Let's
just be obedient. Your salary is paid. It is two
(52:31):
hundred K this month. As the spirit of God leads
you bring something out for the Lord. The Lord blesses you.
Somebody gave you a blessing. Out of it give to
the Lord. But you have torn old. You have cheated somebody.
And then because you have cheated, you are bringing out
(52:53):
of the proceeds of your cheats to God. No, I
may not know, and God will not. If you bring
it here, you put it here, we pray God receive it.
But the point is this, you can never be blessed.
It is biblical principle. It is the heart. You will
(53:13):
not be bleased. So why bringing what you will not
be bleased? Why don't you bring what God will blesse you?
That is my counsel final, Liza, it will be listen.
I will plead with you, as a leader and as
(53:38):
a pastor of this church, to create time so that
you will teach us, the members of this church. Because
if you look at what is going on in our
churches now there are some of us as members. Sometimes
we'll come to church and will bring on clean money
and offer it to God, which I know that there's
(54:02):
no blessing, and this is what some of some of
us don't know. Please create time to teach us. Let
us know what type of money are you supposed to
bring in the church and what type of the money
are you not supposed to bring the church? Thank you
very much, thank you, sir, h mister. So, who ah,
(54:27):
how long have we been teaching this? I think we're
teaching some overy a month. This teaching has actually been
going for over a month. And we don't even rush
it every Sunday, every Sunday. This is how we do
it every Sunday in the last over a month. Now,
(54:49):
I think it's only one Sunday that we just you know,
we pushed out of it and then we came back
to it again. All right. In fact, where we add
a situation in question, just like I I started with
a question from last week, I said, I will find
out more about it, then I will come and explain it.
And that's how we've been doing because it's not something
(55:10):
to be rushed. There are a lot of things going
on there. So I just feel that it is best
that all of us look at the Bible and then
we get the information from the Bible and we act
in that way. There are so many things that see,
you will not see black and white in the Bible,
just like you will never see in the Bible. Where
(55:31):
the Bible we say just in adga, this your wife
is kindly? What was that for my this day? No,
it is not written in the Bible that that is
our wife. No. But somehow because of the principles of
the Bible, you have been following. You have been reading
(55:52):
the mind of God. We shape your thoughts and that's
how it happens. May God help us in Jesus name.
That did you hold on? Four? Sir? Let me take
mister Garra, and then after mister who else? No, no, no,
and bye bye here, so let me take all those people.
(56:13):
Just old on, yes, sir, praise amen. My question is
that I want to ask questions about the task. So
you talk about three types of tasks that we support
to GIF. So my question there is is that you
said three type of Thir is inside time person you
(56:39):
will come up or from where? All right, thank you sir. Now,
the the understanding is this, sirn It is not like
that in the Old Testament. Yes, in the Old Testament.
If you were around last Sunday, we talked about these
types and because of dickness point that she released that
(57:02):
some people we not gift tights, or some people will
say that they can, the Bible say they should eat
their tights. And that's why I had to come from
that direction against this morning. But when we're looking at
it in fact, the entire fights like we started last week,
sometimes it could be twenty three percent of your income
of the blessing that God has given to you. It
(57:24):
is not just ten percent, but a cap is ten percent,
but sometimes it goes even beyond that ten percent. But
in the Old Testament, the Bible clarifies that there are
three types of tides that the people of Israel we give.
But we must balance it because now we are a
(57:46):
New Testament church. But big fact that we are New
Testament church does not mean that we should throw away
everything in the Old Testament. But there are principles that
we can learn from the Old Testament. But we are
no longer under the law, and that is why we
are bringing this balance. Okay, we are under the grace,
(58:09):
and that's why it is bad grace based giving. So
we are under grace. We are no longer under the law,
so the law of giving those three types does not apply.
But however, the principle is still applicable. Do we have
needed people in our midst Yes, we have needed people.
(58:31):
Do we need to give to them? Yes, we need
to support them. Do we have people who are working
for the Lord and missed us. Yes? Do we need
to give? Yes at their times? That even the other one,
I just I just put it under the guise of
a swallow ship that we have loved fist in the church,
(58:52):
everybody will bring something and we share it. Yeah, it's
happen even in the New Testament too, all right. But
in all of this, what is most important is your heart.
It is not the size of what you have brought,
but your heart. That's where God is concerned. Not that
(59:14):
you are forced to give, not that you are pushed
or anything, all right, But this is what you desire
and then you give it. So the Old Testament, that's
how it is structured. But in the New Testament it
is not. And that's why you see that it is
tight and offree. That's what is given, all right.
Speaker 4 (59:35):
So according to the teaching, So even certify, I understand
very well. That accordance to Malarcha chafter three that you
talk about that bring all your tats. Yes, so, and
I see that the truth of the matter, we are
roping God. No one is no one is perfect among
(59:56):
all of us. So attaind that we have have a
long way to go and that is the truth.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Thank you very much, sir. So we have a long
way to go or less not rob God, but then
beyond that in the in the New Testament. Uh, that's
where our focus is now. Praise God. Amen.
Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
I want to ask my question on the Matthew. Don't travels?
Don't it rain?
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Okay? Sir?
Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
He said, what sorrows await you teachers of religious law?
And you, pharasi is hippocrate, for you are careful to
type even the tinness income from your halt Guardian, but
you ignore the more important aspect of the justice of
the law, that is justice, mass and faith. And look
(01:00:46):
at what Jesus said you should tight, yes, but do
not neglect the more important things. So when I'm looking
at it, he is talking to the I don't know,
can I pharasees who still believe in the ten percent?
And Jesus is still telling them, yes, tight, and you
(01:01:06):
still you see as if it's still referring to the
ten percent, so how do you yes?
Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
That is also to Jesus is not against the typing.
Contrary to what people often say, Jesus was not against
the typing. And the fact it's pointing out in that passage.
I think we made reference to it last week or so,
or maybe they had to give or so. You see,
Jesus is not saying don't pay the tight. But what
(01:01:33):
Jesus is saying is that there is something even much
more important, eh than just following the ten percentral Because
for these Pharisees and Sarduces, oh yes they want to
your show. Yes, they just come and then do like
this and give their ten percent and all of those things.
And the the other time that Jesus was sitting and
(01:01:53):
it was looking at everybody, that widow that gave her
two pieces of penny that you kept in that Jesus said, no,
that woman has given more than all of these people
bringing their big amount of money. Why it is the heart,
It is the heart. So against Jesus in this passage
is making it clear that yes, you give the tides,
(01:02:19):
but there is something more important than that. Take care
of the less privileged, take care of them, take care
of them. So there is giving that you bring to
church to say, Lord, I am grateful. You can also
give to those that are around you to bless your lives.
(01:02:39):
And that's why we must strike the balance. And that's
what Jesus is trying to push across to road. There
strike the balance. And just like what mister Soul said
the other time, can I give what I've decided to
give us tight to someone else losing? No, you can't
do that. You can't do that. You have this, I
(01:03:00):
have to give that to the Lord. Give you to
the Lord. Then as the Lord blesses you again, now
help the other person. That's the balance I mean, goes
brand us deeper understanding in Jesus. All right, so two
more people, okay, three more, let's beget from bye bye here.
(01:03:20):
Then we'll go to mister came up, and then we'll
come to Babar, my man, and then we close Praise God.
I have to constantly ask, okay, sirm, first is this
please let's be patient. There are people that end money
before month end. Yes, so does that end morning before
(01:03:44):
the month ending? Can they wait till the weekend the
month end before. They're not bring the air tight to
avoid touching it. No, because there are business people in
the house here, ehm that every week there is something
(01:04:05):
that they gets has gained at the end of their sales.
Somebody who is a market to my in karom or
in market today, that person can give every and that's
why the ushers will always bring the card every every Sunday,
all right. They always bring it every Sunday, okay, So
you can give it at any time, all right. In fact,
(01:04:28):
there are people who have sent it to churches account
during the week it is coming from the account. They
just send it straight to the account of the church
and it is done so they don't wait even until Sunday.
So as as much as it comes so that you
won't touch it, give it and let it go of you, okay,
(01:04:51):
Praise God. Amen. The second person is this like if
you are giving tits, it's between you and your God. Yes.
Then maybe you end some money within the week before
the weekend you love, Maybe you are in somewhere else.
Maybe you use another peas to send one to church
(01:05:12):
account as tight. Once you called the church to tell
them that you have seen your tight. It's between you
and your God. It is between you and God. The
highest thing that you can do to airpost in record
keeping in the church, because we want to identify what
is tight and what is offering. It is good because
(01:05:32):
in our cooperative assignment to the association, to the conference,
to the convention, we're also going to you know, we're
cooperating with all these bodies. So out of the tights,
offering and thanksgiving, we're also supposed to share this part
with all those bodies. So it helps us to be
(01:05:53):
able to know. But if you're giving towards maybe the
tea of the children, no you That's why we always say,
please indic kate what you are giving so that it
to apples in proper accountability. Yes, mister came up, praise
the lords. My aunt goes to the question that mister
(01:06:14):
Soho asks, and my own first and foremost, I'll share
the testimoney, and no, no, no, no, don't share testimony.
Now goes to question you're not balance it when he
asks about time is don our side? When he asks
about when you are coming out from the house and
that is your last money off, I'm tied. You made
(01:06:35):
somebody and it may be sick. You're not supposed to
touch that money.
Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
Twenty seventeen, I traveled to village. It was June. I
have some more project by then and I was not
having money. When I was in the village. I travel
Friday Saturday and the only word will remain the captain
to do the work. And I borrowed money the carpenter
(01:07:03):
front here I sent him. I told him that I
don't have money, but take transport if you do the
work for me. After I don't get the money, I'll
pay you back. You agree when I travel together out
you It was on Saturday evening. One elderly man made
me and what I was having only transport to come
back and the titan offree. The man made me. It
(01:07:26):
was it was sick. Tell me that my son, please,
I'm sick and my drugs don't finish. Can you help
me see the the sample of the drugs. Can you
help me give me something sugar and buy the drugs.
The thought of that borrowing tight and offree. If you
can't give somebody, don't borrow it. Most pe I reminded.
(01:07:50):
It hit my chase. I tell him, sorry, I don't
have money. All lay title offering. But in my heart
I decided that if I come back then a week,
any amount of money I get it, I would send
five thousand to him. Better. I didn't tell him. I
just decided in my mind. So Sunday I lead the money.
(01:08:10):
We went to the church. We finished on the school.
When the men's harvest start, when they called afree and
tighter stand up, I just thought, hit my chase, and
I heard him voice saying that you didn't help the
sick man. You are going to give Titan afree which
blazing and benefit I are going to receive. Tears just
(01:08:31):
come in my heart, my mind, my eye. I sat down,
let her stand up. I gave the tights and offering.
I come back. I tried to God to forgiven ess
because what I supposed to do I didn't do. Away
give Titan offrey, and I decided in my heart, by
God grace, no matter it be, I'll help the man.
(01:08:53):
And then one of my friends is living here. Tight
friend Isaac, that repairing shoe. Sam know him to sixteen.
He was having problem with his wife and he went
to the market bower if you want to hang himself,
He was praying, first thing, let God show him the
(01:09:14):
way to solve the problem with his wife. No option,
no answer that I travel the village on Sunday. But
he traveled with Majen on Sunday. I want to go
to the church early morning before I come back to
a Budja. He was on the way. He need one
(01:09:35):
man dressed like a mad man, and he was the way.
He told me. He said, only offer and tight he
was having. The man asks him, please, I'm feeling hungry.
Can you give me money? Let me go and buy food?
They eat and that borrowing of titan Orfrey hit his chase.
He said, don't have anything. He passed back, you know
(01:09:55):
which from here to this route. He had a voice
telling him that you didn't help them, and you want
to give titan offering, which blazing are you going to receive?
When you turn back, you don't see the man. You
go around asking people either you see somebody like a madman.
You don't see anybody here the choice that you didn't go.
(01:10:16):
You come back and sat down cry to God, okay
this one. How can we balance it that if you
meet a sick person, you have the money, you cannot
use it to save their life. How can we balance
on it. Thank you. So contextually, this is simple. It
is not difficult. The two instances you have given, you're
not going to see those people again. And see, all
(01:10:38):
of this is about our connection with the spirit of God.
It's our relationship with God. The two instances you have given,
we put ourselves under the law. Eh. We put ourselves
under the law, and that is what that's why we're
(01:11:02):
having that pressure. This person needs that help and you
know you may not likely be able to get back
to this Father. I'm going to give this person this,
but don't be unfaithful because the dimension the reason why
answer mister Soho, what many of us do is that
once you have given it to that person is done.
(01:11:27):
That is where it is wrong. That is where it
is wrong. You have made up your mind. But now
there's a challenge with someone that you need to assist
the person. Let's balance it. Go ahead, assist the person. Lord,
I'm having to assist this person. God, we know that.
And then later on you now get the money and
(01:11:49):
do what you intend to do for God. That balances it.
That balances it, That balances it. So let's not let's
not feel that. Uh, somebody is in it and the
title or the offering that you have decided in your
heart to give because you have given it to somebody
(01:12:10):
and you feel that that is all. No, no, no,
what you have decided when you now have the money
or when you get back home, take it and then
give it and that balances it. And the Lord blesses
you that the mama the last person a man.
Speaker 5 (01:12:36):
Issue of bringing dirty money into the church. Actually, like
what he said, it's not supposed to be so dirty money.
When you know that this is dirty money. You have
a boss and he asks you to go and do
to buy something, you all you need to know that
(01:13:00):
you are a child of God and you have to
do the needfool from the first at the first place,
in the first place, you're supposed to do the needful.
Whatever change that is remaining, we turn it back to him.
That's not your money. So if you eat that money,
it's a sin. And I make I'm a civil servant
(01:13:21):
and I know what is happening in the civil service.
All others are doing it. I said it in the
Sunday school during the Sunday school. Others are doing it.
So if I do there is nothing. I'm not the
only person doing it. What you know that it is
a sin. Please don't do it, even others. When others
(01:13:42):
are doing it, and you do you get the money
you want to bring it to the church. Yes, there's
not nothing bad to bring it in the church. But
you know the the, the the the the the whatever
that will follow you. So go help us in Jesus' name.
Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
Thank you very much Church for this opportunity to go
through this Bible study. I want to believe that we're
being God has ept us all right, and the Lord
we continue to help us in Jesus name. I know
there are so many things and the way our world is.
(01:14:22):
So many confusing things are there, and the only way
for us to balance it is for us to search
the scriptures. There are some things that are not particularly
written in the Bible, but how do you know how
to navigate such things? There are principles in the Bible
that we guide us in taking the right decision. I
(01:14:43):
pray God will help us in Jesus' name, all right,
So we will take him as we are taking to him.
Well at the same time, be given our offering as
we are taking to him. And then the secretary we
come afterwards. Where's the So we take the end count
(01:15:04):
to your blessings, named them one by one,
