Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hmm okay, for some reason, it looks like our live
was deleted off of Facebook. Uh, all right, having a
(00:30):
little bit of technical difficulty. I hope everybody can hear me.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Okay, okay, So it looks like it looks like we
(01:05):
are back up and running on Facebook for some reason.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Uh, for some reason. Uh. The this always happens when
Harrison goes out of town, something screws up. That's why
we have him produce this show. Good evening. Before we
get started. The views and the penius express of this broadcast,
or not necessarily those of the SEV, it's GC for
any division, brigade, camps, or other subsidiary, strictly those of
(01:32):
us expressing him and for those this evening it's just me, Carl.
Can you hear me all right out there in Facebook Land?
I'm hoping y'all can. We had a hey, Jay, Bob,
a little bit of technical difficulties for some reason, our
stream God got messed up trying to get everything done.
Hope everybody's had a great week so far. I had
(01:55):
a great weekend. We'll talk about that this even good evening.
Lieutenant Commander in Chief Tony Griffin, hope you were having
a great evening. I hope everything's good up there in
the Commonwealth of Virginia. Uh, it is a rather hot
day down here in Mississippi's spent a hot week uh
in the South. Summer is definitely here, and I'm so
(02:17):
glad that. Well, I say that I'm glad it's here.
I hope that it's uh kind of cools off just
a little bit some this summer before we get there.
H fully fully there. Uh but yeah, no kidd in hot.
I think it was like ninety three this past weekend
(02:40):
over at the forest Boyhood Home. Carl, you are a
technological genius. Uh love love that you are, because of course,
you know for those that do know if you especially
if you have a streaming uh platform that I say
a streaming platform, but a streaming capability to uh watch
(03:01):
YouTube on TV. And I know several of our viewers
do that as well. But had a great weekend this
past weekend, went up to the Nathan Bedford Forest boy
hit Home. I also got to visit the museum some
and uh for for about an hour before it had
to shut down. This past weekend spent some time up
(03:25):
at Franklin, visited one of my ancestors that's actually buried
up there trying to download my pictures from this past
weekend onto my phone or from my phone onto onto
here so I can actually upload them. Uh it is, well,
I don't I'm not sure about the temperature outside right
now in central Mississippi, but I will say that, uh,
(03:48):
it is thundering, and that probably means that it is
about to rain out here, which that's just what we
need some more of, is rain, just as while I'm
waiting on this stuff to upload. Just as a little
bit of housekeeping stuff for you guys, are you all
or y'all rather if we're going to talk in proper
(04:12):
Southern English. We have just launched a new feature on
our Patreon. We have a brand news for those that
are patrons and our members. After three months, you get
a little sticker that's part of the real chathead sticker
(04:33):
community thing. What we have now done is we have
a new monthly I say monthly. It's every three months
you will get something. So get something as part of
your Patreon membership as a way to say thank you.
Now it's thirty dollars a month. But on the first
(04:54):
month you will receive a sticker and it's not the
real chadthead sticker. This sticker is based off of our
T shirt designs over on Bonfire. The next thing you'll
get is a mini poster. The third thing you will
get receive is a coffee cup, and a fourth the
(05:14):
fourth item, uh is a T shirt. So that's thirty
bucks a month over a year, and you get all
those items. And I know, I know j Bo's got
his his uh chat headsticker. I I really I haven't
gotten mine yet because as Patreon, as the ones that
run the Patreon, we have to order them at cost
(05:38):
in order to get them. So it was I just
haven't had a chance to order one. I really need to.
But the T shirt will be our our chat logo
within the circle of stars. Uh. The I'm trying to
pull it up so I can see exactly what it is,
because we don't want it to be a we we
do want it to be somewhat of a surprise, but
(06:00):
not a full surprise. But yeah, that's just that's just
something extra, you know.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Of course you'll get the same content that all the
other ten dollars a month, uh sub to do. I'm
actually looking for a sticker provider, UH, somebody who can
you know, make those stickers for us and you know,
for us to be able to sell directly maybe one
of these days. But you know, it is what it is,
(06:31):
all right, so under our Yeah, it's a sticker, a
mini print, a mug, and a T shirt. But that's
part of our new loyalty program. The sticker will be
one Patrick Clayburne quote with a picture of him. The
mini print will be the all I ask or the
Jeff Davis all we ask is we let alone? The
(06:54):
mug will be the battleflag with the microphone and the
wreath of stars. It's a a CV chat on it,
and the T shirt has the chat logo. It's it'll
be it'll be pretty their collector's items. The only way
you'll be able to get those is via Patreon, so
if you are so inclined. We also have our eighty
(07:14):
dollars a month UH sponsorship program, So if you or
your camp would like to sponsor SCV chat, or if
you own a business then you know you and you
want to get it advertised and we reach about you know,
last year million and a half people. We're on track
to match that number again, UH this year that's people worldwide.
(07:35):
If you ship worldwide or anything like that, considered eighty
bucks a month keeps us, keeps us going. Soout further
ado some of the pictures from this past. We're gonna
start with a video really quickly. Perpetual Union I was
the official title for it, and at that time Perpetual
Union met. There was no strict but indeed this was
(07:58):
a generation here all secessions and the Declaration of Independence
mentioned this very clearly over it's impossible to a door.
That act indeed rated the cos which impelled them to
the suburbia, meaning the American seas. And yeah, and there
(08:20):
you could seek some of the crowds. As one of
the speakers, uh in the background, uh speaking of course,
it was a day full of speakers. Carl Jones got
to speak for a little bit. Uh. The house was
open for tours. The house is absolutely love. It's the
first time I'd ever been, uh to the boyhood home.
Of course, there were venders. Uh. The house looked, like
I said, looked absolute beautiful. With it being as hot
(08:42):
as it was very little bit of a breeze. Uh,
it was. It was the place to be because it
had air conditioner, in there, but it really gives you
the uh, the the Tennessee Division and everybody who's restored it.
It's gives you a good idea of what Bedford forest
life would have been like growing up. That's kind of
what we're going to talk about tonight. It's Bedford Forest
(09:03):
a little, but we'll get into it later. H Some
of the vendors that were there, the Long Street Camp
or Long Street Museum had T shirts for sale. I
really love the Davis Stevens sixty one shirt. That is
a really really good and of course the cannon ball
or the the what what would have been the label
(09:23):
for a cannon cartridge or canon limberbox? And Sam Davis
home was there along with several others, and of course
past Commander in Chief Larry mclooney was there selling books.
I will say this that Friday night, UH, the girlfriend
I made it up to UH made it up to
(09:45):
Columbia and we met up with past or excuse me,
current historian and chief and Commander of the Mississippi Division
Forest DAWs, who will be on the show Thursday because
I'm having to host or getting host look around because
Moose is on his cruise and y'all be praying for
Moose for traveling mercies with everything that's going on in
(10:07):
the nation right or around the world right now. Uh.
Plus you know, God, we really don't want Harrison to
be left at his port of call, you know, after
an excursion or something like that. Uh. But we went
to Puckets now, for those that do not know, Puckets
is a restaurant up there in Yeah, it was Dave Benner,
and Dave did a great job. It was. It was
(10:32):
a really really good turnout. Uh. And and a lot
of the Confederation was represented. Lloyd who's in the chat
this evening, Uh and his lovely wife Renee. We're at
the boy Hit Home and it was a pleasure to
meet her. And uh, you know you had Ed Butler
from Tennessee, who is a legend of his own right
in the SCV, several several compatriots. I mean if it
(10:54):
almost felt like going to a natural national reunion. The
Kentucky Bluegrass Brigade was there selling food to help raise
money for the National Union, including their Kentucky Libation Society.
They were there. Uh. If you've already you know, reserved
(11:15):
one of the bottles or one of the gifts from
the Libation Society. They were they were distributing them. I
got mine, the old double O seven. But it was
a it was a really good day, A lot of
a lot of good speakers. We didn't get there till late. Yeah, yeah,
you got number one. I got double O seven because
the last name number one is cool and all, but
(11:36):
you know, you can't be you know, have the last
name Bond and not not wanting to have double O seven.
But yeah, it was a it was a it was
a really good event. The amount of vendors was really great.
We had o c R. Of course, the o CR
had their Confederation of States meeting this this past weekend
(12:00):
at Henry Horton State Park. So that was a that
was good. Uh but I digress. Uh Friday night, got
to Columbia around five o'clock six and then we met
up with Forrest. Forrest has been on a bit of
a diet. Him and both have been trying to do
(12:21):
the carnivore diet. And Forrest we we discovered uh puckets
a couple of years ago, and uh, Matt Singleton took
us there and it and it's good and the atmosphere
is really great. Uh, they had a live band playing
(12:41):
that evening, and uh, my girlfriend really loves live music,
so you know, we enjoyed that. But what the most
the best part of the entire evening was when Forrest
was able to get the cinnamon roll bread pudding. Now
this is not a paid advertisement from them, Uh, but
you just look at look at that face. He is
extremely extremely happy there and I look forward to to
(13:06):
potentially going back. It was a really fun time. Of course,
we went to the museum. Uh, and if you've not
been to our National Museum, you are missing out.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
The museum is you know, I remember when the museum
was first built. I was there for that October GC
meeting when Tom Strained was Commander in Chief and we
had the groundbreaking forward and everything that went along with it,
all the all the you know, museum being built and
(13:38):
you know sutten to get artifacts and the timeline going up.
And of course if you've watched the show for a while,
you know that we we do a monthly recap what's
going on museum with Adam. I'm on the Hearth and
Home episode what we call it because it is our
hearth and home, it is our headquarters and you know,
I remember when it would have taken you thirty minutes
to just go through that, to go through our museum.
(14:01):
We were there for about an hour and still didn't
get to see everything, you know. So that's just the
testament of the people who have donated. It's a testament
of our organization and our different compatriots have done that.
It looks really good. It tells our story, not just
our Confederate ancestors. But that's something as the son of
(14:22):
a past historian chief and sitting here in the Mississippi
Division Headquarters office where it used to be general headquarters
of the Sun's Confederate veterans. If you don't believe me,
here's an order issued July fifteenth, nineteen fifty three saying,
you know, War Memorial Building for the Germ as our
mainly address and as our headquarters. I'm very proud of
(14:45):
that doctor McCain and his legacy lives on through that.
So really, really, really take the time to go through
and visit our museum if you have not trying to
make the time, especially during the week, you know, with
the being summer vacation, a lot of people can can
(15:06):
can make that or hopefully can make it, uh, but
it is it is worth the visit to uh to
our headquarters just to see it. Then we left from
there and we went up to Franklin. For those that
are not familiar, back in the early two thousands, there
was a docu series done called Civil War Combat. I
(15:28):
don't like using the term civil war uh because it
wasn't that, But the History Channel actually made that documentary.
It was actually done pretty well with reenactors and people
you know, representing representing it, and they did the Battle
of Franklin. So I played that one for Brittany, and
we actually did a little bit of a tour of
(15:50):
uh of the battlefield and we went to the mcgavick Cemetery.
And I'll go ahead and say this in case susy Uh,
it's it's an entire commuit Jack and as far as
who are as far as who's our commissioner on there,
it's it's me. We're supposed to be me. Uh. That's
(16:11):
a question for off stream anyway, the uh the uh
I got where I was going with that. Oh yeah,
we we listened to the to the documentary on our
way up and we were able to see it and
they're actually uh if you type in Google for the
(16:31):
uh directions to the mcgavick family Cemetery. Actually there's two
of them.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
There is the one, of course, the Confederate Cemetery, and
another one out in the middle of a neighborhood. So
we're I'm i'd fallen asleep from frank or from Columbia
to Franklin. I woke up and I'm looking around. I'm like,
none of this seems familiar. We should have taken exit
sixty five and that should be there on the eastern flank. Nope, nope, nope, nope.
(16:59):
That uh that is uh yeah, so be careful when
you google that because it will mess you up. But yeah,
that was just a little bit of a little bit
of fun. We went into Nashville that evening and ate
and visited some of the sites and places up there,
(17:20):
and then we returned home yesterday. So it was it
was a very very good weekend. I hate that Kyle Thompson,
even though he is on tom tonight for for the episode,
was not there. But he was at Shiloh, so I
guess we can. We can let you pass this time, Kyle,
(17:41):
but I expect to see you there next year. Definitely,
definitely worth And of course I know that the Metcalf
had their annual in Florida. I saw some of the
pictures of it. And if you have pictures from the
annual this past weekend, please send them to SCB Youth
Outreach at she email dot com because we want to
(18:02):
picture them. We want to focus them on Yeah, no kid,
and I think I lost about that many at boyhood home.
But yeah, since send those emails to us, we will.
We really want to show off the pictures from that.
Other than that, we have had a interesting past couple
(18:23):
of days, at least in Mississippi dealing with a heritage
potential heritage violation. Not going to go into everything, but
the division is working on it. However, I know every brigasion,
every division has their own thing that they're working on.
But if you go to mississippiscv dot org you will
(18:44):
find our division website and on our website there should
be a way for you to donate if you are
so inclined for our two main heritage issues that we
have going on, we would greatly appreciate that anything and
everything will go a long way. Hopefully this one issue,
this news issue, will take care of itself. I have
(19:06):
a feeling that it will, but you know, you can
never be too careful. So yeah, uh a tour guide
man unfortunately did give it tours the Yeah uh I uh,
I really want to go to the Lot's house one
day and meet Thomas cart right. In fact, I'd love
(19:29):
to bring him on the show. Uh, but you know,
it just hasn't worked out.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Battle of Franklin is really one of the I'll be
honest with you, it it or you'll pardon pardoned the
little bit of language I'm gonna use, but it pisses
me off just uh what happened at that battle and
how you know, so much of it could have been
avoided and some of the decisions that were that were
(19:55):
made You'll excuse me for bumping the uh the computer there. Uh,
but some of the decis visions that were made that
led to Franklin, especially you know, the whole spring Hill
And did did John bell well, should John Bellhood have
been put in command of the army and should he
(20:15):
have should he have even ordered the attack? That is
a one of those what if questions, Uh that that's
going to that is going to plague historians for for
decades to come. My personal opinion is no, he should
(20:40):
not have been putting a command of the army and
he definitely should not have had that attack happen when
and how it did. That's just me. But yeah, I
would love to go and meet Thomas cart Right one
day as well as go and you know, take a tour,
take a tour let by him. Seemed like I think
(21:05):
that would be a great, uh, great bit of fun
Thomas cart Right. You know, you can look up some
of his videos that he's on YouTube and uh, he
is a legend within the within the Civil War Franklin
or War between the States Franklin community. So, uh, another
(21:32):
reminder for everybody. National Reunion is coming up. Please please
please please please if you are planning on being there,
Uh register register register we can, I cannot, I cannot,
you know, remind you enough to please register for National Reunion. Yeah. Well,
(22:06):
if I ever get the chance to meet him, jabo,
I will happily ask him, uh what he thought about
John Bellhood and should he have been put in command
of the army. My thing is new he should not
have been. He was past his prime. He should have
been put out to retirement well after after after he
(22:27):
lost his leg as Chickamauga. But you know that's just
my my armchair quarterback one hundred and sixty years later opinion.
So that uh, that's that's that so uh, it's but
(22:49):
it's an interesting battle to study. It definitely would be
if if somehow, you know, I ever win the lottery
and end up being able to invest a good chunk
of those winnings into SCV chat would be something to
(23:10):
make a full feature length film about. And then there's
just so much with it, you know, Clayburne's uh, you know,
mortal words to to go Van before going in when
Govan says, General, not many of us will make it
back to Arkansas, and he says, uh, well go Van,
let us dial like men. Uh, he knows better than that.
(23:34):
And then Susie, if you're watching, tell your husband, I'm
doing the ship. So that's uh, that's very you know,
just just a beautiful I mean, you can't write a
scene anything better than that. And you know, of course
the heroic or heroism of the the about hundreds of
(23:56):
accounts of the uh men of the Army of Tennessee
and the assault there. Uh let me let me see
how my schedule looks Jabou. I know that we will
be coming back up in March, uh for sure, around
(24:18):
the first. So but the fall, I don't know what
the schedule looks like. You know, October is uh completely
out of the question for me. November We're actually going
to spend Christmas in the mountains right now, that's our
game plan. So maybe on our way up for that,
but I doubt it because we don't want to put
(24:39):
being in position to anybody right there at the holidays.
But next spring, definitely maybe next spring, and you know,
maybe that may be something that that uh we could
actually do as a livestream kind of uh pay per
view type deal, if mister Cartwright would agree to that,
you know, doing doing a full tour and live streaming
(25:00):
it on on location. We got that we have we
actually purchased a new gimbal that's what I shot that
uh video with, you knowice how smooth the transition and
things of that nature. So that would be, uh, that
would be a good chance to uh to use it.
(25:21):
So I'm I'm that's that that is a thought, definitely
a thought uh there. So we uh we may we
may we may we may we may hook hook you
up or take you up on that offer there, Jabbo,
(25:42):
I think that'd be good. Of course. You know, I
got to see a lot of good patriots As I
was mentioning Tom would who just commented a second ago,
I got to see Tom. Always great to see Tom. Uh.
We ran into uh Kevin Winthraw Uh if y'all are
not for with Kevin. Kevin is a great photographer. Like
(26:04):
I said, just just compatriots from all over the Corinth camp.
Uh from uh well Corinth, Mississippi was there selling stuff Jabo,
you may know this, but how many divisions were represented?
Derek was there, were represented that Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, Carl
(26:25):
was there, Tennessee. I saw Ed Phillips for a second
eyeing the General Lee. He's out of Tennessee, but Ed
has enough money to purchase his own generally, so anyway,
I would I think that would be interesting to see
how many different divisions out of the army. Uh we
(26:47):
were there. And and you know that may be an
idea for the for the army leadership to make it
a and we have national events, well maybe we have
an army event at boyhood home. Uh. Just just an
idea Georgie, so that that gives Georgia. Yeah, Chris Hawk, Yeah,
(27:08):
Chris out of out of Kentucky. Uh, of course, you know,
like we mentioned they were, they were there, assault ran
into James Patterson. I always love seeing Patterson. Uh. Patterson
is a if you don't know, James, James is a
very hard working Patriot. So six six total divisions were represented.
So that's that's pretty good showing. So definitely I encourage
(27:32):
everybody for next year, especially once the dates get announced, uh,
to to make uh, make plans on it and bring
definitely bring a cheer and bring a fan, so uh yeah,
uh and definitely looking at the house I was explaining
(27:53):
to to Brittany which she had she'd been reading, uh
some of the some of the stuff that was there
after the informational posters and placards uh on site about
Forrest's his growing up in his childhood and uh, it
really helps you put it or put it. It really
helps put it into perspective of course, you know, because
(28:16):
we all know Forrest was his father died by when
he was a teenager and his uh uh he was
essentially forced to become the breadwinner there. Uh you know,
at a at a very young age, so Forrest having
to to do that was a was a you understand
(28:42):
that better looking at the house and everything. Excuse me
for one moment, my phone is going absolutely crazy right
this second. I do apologize. So Jason says that it
(29:15):
is Oh so we had somebody from the uh ok,
I was looking forward to meeting you, David. I heard
Adam had called me and said that that he said
he thought he heard that you wouldn't be there. Uh
So it's always third Saturday in June, so that means
that next year it will be June twentieth, nineteenth weekend
(29:37):
to the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty first, So go ahead
and put that on your calendar. I think that was
I think it'd be worth it. Think it's it's definitely
worthy cause for everything that is that that is there
so and definitely worth worth viewing because again, like myself,
he gave me a better idea about or at least
(30:01):
a better insight into forces mind and what all he
had to uh uh do as a growing up. So
uh yeah, that was uh that was good. Trying to
think of what else we had that weekend, uh or
(30:31):
over the weekend, I'm also doing some division chief heritage
of stuff. One of the things that we're doing with
in the division is is a postcard campaign and I'm
working on working on that design and some postcards. Uh So,
(31:02):
so tonight we're kinda kind of do a it's not
we're gonna We're gonna do kind of a a open
form type night. Anything y'all want to talk about within reason,
of course, go ahead and mention in the chat and
I'll try to give y'all at least my views and
(31:22):
opinions on it. I've already given y'all my views on
John bell Hood. Uh yeah, well I missed that too.
We we left early. Maybe maybe next year the descendant
of Cooper C. Cooper will uh still be there and
doing uh sharpy beards. Yeah. That's that's that's always, that's always,
(31:47):
you know, got to hope hope for next year. I'd
like to know how much it would cost to get
a booth or get a cost for a booth fee there.
Uh for next year the Mississippi Division, I'm making talk
(32:10):
Forest into uh into us doing one up there. We've
got a couple of projects that uh we're working on
that could be that could be good for it. I
want that work right. Update on the forest Plaza. I'm
(32:33):
gonna let pass Commander in Chief Jason Boucher's if he
wants to type something in the UH in the chat
about it. I do know that things are going and
if you came to Division Reunion, Larry, you would have uh,
you'd have gotten a good update on it. UH. But
I don't want to, you know, put put words in
(32:53):
the organization's mouth. I know that funds are still being
raised for it. I know that there's a lot of
work having to be done as far as structural engineering.
Work that is being I believe has already started. I believe.
I saw that on Facebook the other day, so it
(33:14):
is starting to UH. Work is starting to be done
on it. So that's always a good sign progress is
being made. So just continue to UH to pay attention.
Fifty dollars booth and twenty five for the tent and
one table. So that's actually not a it's actually not
(33:41):
a I do not have the Confederate Legion workshop date, David,
I'm sorry, or Derek, excuse me. I am sorry. I
do not have that, but I'll try to have it
for Monday all or excuse me. It is money for
Thursday with look around. We received the third b. We
(34:14):
will receive the third b. What do you mean by that, Jason?
But yeah, So as far as Forest Plaza going, it is,
it is a working progress. Continue to donate and uh, Derek,
like I said, I'll figure that out and let you know.
(34:42):
I'm looking forward to the U to the Kentucky Reunion.
I did see uh that their website is out for
the national reunion. Of course, you know Texas has their
website now out for for the national re Union. And
if you are not registered, I'm going to remind you again,
please please please register, get registered while you can't. All right.
(35:10):
We should have the third bid for repair of the
equestrian statue by the end of the week. All right,
So that's that's that's what Jason meant, so Larry, Uh,
we should So now is that the repair to the
statue or is that the is that the uh full
(35:32):
full thing there? Jason? Yeah, well you said that for
repair to the question statue. So that's that's the first step.
You know, the years of weathering there in in Memphis
calls and as well as you know, some other things
call some damage to it. No, all right, expecting the
(35:58):
plans any day then we will begin that big process. Okay, good,
So it is it is, Uh, it is a working product.
Of course. You know. You can't just halfway do something
like this. I heard that while walking through the museum
a couple of times, and uh, you know, and we
if we're gonna do it, we're gonna do it, right.
(36:21):
So I'm I'm really looking forward to that. I'm looking
forward to going up there for it. Of course, you know,
one of the happiest, proudest memories that I have and
that I hopefully will uh. Uh yeah, I wasn't. I
wasn't gonna mention the exactly the name brand of the
libation for the Libation Society. Uh, I'm I'm fond of
(36:44):
the Jeff Davis label Derek because I designed it. But
they are selling bottles of or or they're collecting donation
that is a way to thank you for your membership
to the Kentucky Libation Society. Uh. It is a commemorative
bottle of for I have an open mind. I probably
(37:04):
won't open the Jeff Davis one.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
They're actually gonna be saving the other double O seven's
for me because uh, you know, gotta gotta have the
bond number. But yeah, it's uh that they're they're doing
a good job with that. So yeah, but but you know,
the the anyway, as I was saying, the Forestry Internment,
(37:30):
I was asked to command one of the wings of artillery.
Uh that I was on the upper wing and those
guns going off. It was a very very honorable or
I was very honored to do that. It was something
I will never forget. The entire day is something I
hope to never forget. So uh but yeah, so it's
(37:53):
it's it is coming along quite nicely. I look, like
I said, I'm looking forward to the day and uh,
by then we'll have a lot better equipment and things
of that nature to be able to uh do the
uh do a good proper live stream. I hope of
the uh of the events that day, for the for
(38:16):
the re erection of the forest monument, uh thinking of
some other stuff. Reminder that on the Thursday of the
National Reunion. That Thursday, we will have our two hundredth episode,
(38:38):
so we will be going live like we normally do
with our our try to do with our reunion updates.
But that Thursday evening we're gonna have a special live
and we're encouraging everybody who is a Chatthead to attend that.
You know, two hundred episodes five years is quite a milestone.
(39:01):
I remember thinking when we first had the idea that lord,
this isn't even gonna take off. But you know, here
we are now five years later, So it'll be a
day to uh kind of an afternoon to ear an
evening to celebrate you know, what we've what we've had
here in SCV chat. Harrison's supposed to be working on
a video. I don't I doubt that it'll even have
(39:22):
it ready, but we'll well, he may have it ready
just because you know, five years is a long time
to go through and pull stuff. But he is trying
to get that squared away for us. But we'll for
sure have it on on our post Readnion coverage, So
(39:47):
be looking looking for that here in the next couple
of couple of weeks. But the idea of the live
show is we are going to invite people done it
once before with our chat Head dinner, uh the weekend
of the Bedford Forest Reinternment. Uh. But kind of the
(40:07):
idea is for us to you know, just like just
like you know, you're this is film in front of
a live studio audience, so you'll be able to come
and watch and participate and join in on the jokes
and the laughs all in real time. So that'll be
a hopefully a fun evening for everybody who wants to attend.
(40:29):
We'll probably do it around eight o'clock. We'll not do
it around our normal time. Uh so, just because you know,
we've got people ourselves included, that are gonna be you know,
it's national Union. You're you're having You're you're catching up
with the Patriots you haven't seen in a year, and
you know, going to eat supper and experience a new city,
maybe for the first time. I know, I've never been
(40:50):
to Houston. As far as our live schedule for that week, uh,
we are actually spending a couple of days in Houston
prior to, uh prior to the reunion, not Houston, excuse me,
San Antonio, prior to the reunion. So we'll be going
to the Alamo as well as some other sites. I'm
(41:13):
a big other than the War between the States. The
Alamo is probably my favorite thing to study. Uh So
we will be uh, I'll be nerding out on that
but so yeah, it'll it should be a fun, fun
week of National Union. Let me see one thirty dot
(41:39):
com for those that have not uh well you know,
and we'll probably actually do our annual awards that night.
We already have our award for Chathead of the Year. Now.
While Jason, I know you liked your your Chathead award
from last year, uh, this year is it's You're gonna
(42:04):
be jealous of this hat. You'll be trying to trade
I think for it. We actually picked it up this
past Saturday. So it kicks off in three weeks, one day,
eleven hours and thirty three minutes and twenty three seconds
for a full schedule, if you go to SCV one
thirty dot com. Uh, they've got the course. The registration
(42:27):
is gonna be from two to five GC meeting and
then they have their mixer and meet and greet. Then
on Thursday everything like that, and then Friday the normal
things with that of course, oratory contest, and then on
Saturday everything with that. So yeah, it'll be it'll be
(42:50):
a good time. You can still register online. Let's see
what they've got still available for registration. I know that
Michael Hurley was on was on look around. I believe
this past week, so it's too late for a program.
(43:11):
Ad uh, it doesn't look like it's too late for
a program, mad, But it looks like Vender is out.
The San Jacinto Tour and the Galveston Tour are sold out,
which is good, And it looks like everything else is
sold out as well as meals. Let's just see what
(43:33):
it's got on here. See, it looks like the meals
are sold out too, which is which is a good sign.
Oh and they have an official T shirt as well,
so I'll probably pick one of those up later on.
Uh So, yeah, it should be good. It should be
a good time. You know that James was here at
(43:57):
Almo was the older brother of Bonhomo. I did know that,
and also knew that the youngest defender of the Alamo
held from the Great and Sovereign State of Mississippi as well.
Of course, you know Crocketts, I can't remember if it
was a son or's grandson was involved with the uh
(44:19):
Marmaduke duel. So a lot of a lot of confederateties,
a lot of confederateties with the Alamo, of course. You
know that goes into most things of southern history. The
fact that we uh you know, as as the west
was people beginning to move out west, you know, Southerners,
(44:43):
Uh that that tamed the way, and then the Easterners
came out soon after, uh after we'd already teamed everything.
Going to Jason says he's going to San Jacento before
the reunion starts. I want, yeah, And that's uh that
(45:04):
that's probably on. Uh. What we may do one evening
is the is go to San Jacinto as well, you know,
kind of start the and we may do that Sunday.
On the way out of town, Mama, Mama wants to
go to Galveston. And that's the one thing I love
about our reunions is is the fact that it not
only is it like a big family reunion for all
(45:25):
of us who are members of the ce V, but
it is also a chance for us to travel together
as families. You know. That's that's you know kind of
the kind of the whole purpose of it is is
we are a fraternal organization. I was reading the weirdly enough,
don't judge, but I was reading the Debutante God on
(45:48):
the way back home from uh uh or not from
boy at home yesterday and It says in there that
this is a chance for the you know fathers and grandfather's, grandsons,
our father's, you know, the male family members to give
a positive light onto the Confederacy for their daughters and
(46:10):
stuff like that, and something for them to be able
to remember for you know, when they have sons of
their sons or daughters of their own age. But yeah,
it's a I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward
to it. Well. And Sandy Mitchum, you know, William Word
Adams was also involved in the uh Texas War of
(46:31):
Independence and in the art well on his way to
and then also in the Army of the Republic of Texas.
And so it was Albert Sidney Johnston. Uh, if you
said at the Menger Hotel, which is right beside the Alamo,
it's a great hotel. In his handy revery state of
the hotel. Yeah, Uh, we had thought about where to stay,
(46:53):
and we'd looked at places, but we found an Airbnb. Uh,
and we're doing that. I like Airbnb. You have more,
you know, more freedom than than than at a hotel.
You know, you're able to to save a little bit
of money. Also on the fact that you don't have
(47:14):
to eat out every meal. You know, if there's a
kitchen in one you know, we can pick up stuff
and and make sandwiches for lunch one day. Doubt that
we will, but you know, it's it's it's always an option.
So m uh, well, we'll definitely have to. You know,
(47:42):
we're gonna, Susie, if you're watching, this is what we'll
We'll have to visit that uh, visit that hotel on
the As part of the tour, we are doing the
river walk. Uh. They are the entire group wants to
do that or the river tour. Uh. I think that'd
be a fun way to escape the heat. Maybe so,
(48:05):
but yeah, well we've been added for about including the
technical difficulty, about an hour. I hope everybody has a
great week. Remember that we have the The Lord Have
Mercy our Bonfire t shirt sales for the moose Hunt shirts.
(48:28):
On Saturday night before the oratory, we will have the
moose hunt and there is a special one of our
California compatriots has made something special for the moose hunt
this year, so definitely check that out. Get a shirt
(48:50):
and you will be able to shoot five free rounds
at moose for a purchase of a shirt. Moose you know,
has agreed to do that. The money that we raised
this year will go to the Forrest Last Ride. We'll
do that before the oratory, before Lee Miller gets up
and starts telling jokes before it kicks off. So get
(49:13):
ready get registered for National if you have not until Thursday,
I will be back with Forrest Dawes who will give
an update on the Mississippi Division and everything he is
doing there. This upcoming Thursday should be a good episode. Well,
we'll be doing it from in here. Remember to do that. Also,
(49:38):
if you are interested in our Patreon, we have the
new we have two new levels that you can join
at again an eighty dollars a month sponsor and you
will get a slide at the front of the show.
You'll get a mentioned before we take a commercial break.

well as you will get a mentioned at the end credits.

wants to wants to do that, just go to patreon
dot com sign up as well as our thirty dollars
a month merch program. You get the sticker, you get them,
(50:23):
you get you get a Pat Claborne sticker, you get
a Jeff Davis mini poster. Uh, you get a scv
Chat battleflag coffee mug, and you get a SCV Chat flag,
not battleflag, but the flag we're probably going to commission

for thirty bucks a month, you get all that, you know,
(50:44):
