But she's like my friend Miranda Thomas anyway, and he's
an up and coming New York play right.

They're having great sex in the next.

Immediately after sex, he'd hop out of bed and shower and.

I don't know if that's necessarily a big deal for me.

I mean every time, Yeah, you want to cuddle, you
want to still be in that intimacy. Yeah, it completely

I'm starting to feel like it's me. He's like, it's
not you. He was just always taught that sex is
dirty by the nuns and when he was growing up,
and he got into the habit of taking a shower afterwards.
And then Miranda realized she was dating dut dut dull
Catholic guy.

When I understand that Catholic guilt is real.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Hell yeah, I'm a recovering Catholic myself, and they really
do ingrain in you that Catholic guilt for everything.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
Yeah, especially when they're beating into your inner child. It's
got to be hard to overcome.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Yeah, I feel like I can. Just a little site story.
I think when I was getting ready for my first
Communion again, I grew up Catholic, not practicing Catholic system
at all. I remember, for your first meaning, you have
to do your first confession, confessional right, and so at
nine I came out crying from from confession because I

thought I was gonna go to hell because I didn't
listen to my mom on that one particular week, you know.
And I feel like it really fucks you up. And yeah,
that does fuck you up.

That confession stuff never sat right with me. We did
go to Catholic school, our parents, my mother grew up Catholic.
I have a great uncle who was a priest, so
I have some attachment to the Catholic community or whatever,
even though it was never in me. But that neother
that confession never sat right with me. Why am I
confessing to a man like, Yeah, you're not God, bro,
who's probably doing what they be doing.

In the next scene, she's talking to Carry about it
and carries like, do you think the water serves as
a retro baptism kind of thing? Miranda says, if I
knew he was Catholic, I never would have gone out
with him in the first place. They should wear a
sign or something. And I do think that this episode
is about not just Catholics, but religious people as a whole,
which is why it was kind of like these girls atheists, like,

do y'all believe in God? Which if you're not, that's,
you know, your prerogative. But to judge people that believe
in a higher power the way you guys are is
absolutely or that follow structure religion a little bit, you know.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yeah, the judgmental Miranda came out for sure. Yeah. She
says people seldom ask their dates religious backgrounds because it's
kind of like asking their partners, how asking their their
dates how many partners they've had, And it's a scary
question that you don't really want to know the answer to.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
I wholeheartedly disagree. But that's just me because I need
a man that love God, love Jesus. You know you
don't love Jesus. Who do you love?

Speaker 6 (04:54):
Yeah, I don't know if that speaks to each and
every that's I don't think that's true.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah, I dated at atheists. He was the worst person
in the world, So never again. Like, you need to
know God, you need to know God.

Anyway, Miranda says he's logical in every other respect, but
about this he's just not. And Carrie is like, well,
he's also clean. You forgot clean.

He's very clean.

Carrie carries writing her column in the next scene, and
she's like, New York is filled with places of worship,
and it dawned on her that the only time that
she sees people mentioned actually going to these places is
when they're going to a singles mixer.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
She's like, our relationships the religion of the nineties.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Okay, I thought religion was a religion of the nineties,
but sure, sure, I was a baby then, so what
did I know. Anyway, she goes to do her research
and she's going to church because she was raising the
church of don't talk with your mouth full and be
nice to people. Religions I guess wasn't really instilled in
her as a child. So she goes to observe real

church people and they're coming out of church and they're
a luxury fashion designed you know, the Oscar de la
Rentas of it all, And she's like, what's it about
God in fashion that goes so well together? And I
will say, in a lad I noticed that people do,
and then you know people would really do dress.

You put on your Sunday's best before you walk into church. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Actually, in La the Church, the first church that we
were part of, I feel like I could. That was
the first time I felt comfortable to wear whatever I
wanted I got. They kind of shame me a little
bit for wearing hills. They were like, Oh, you're wearing hills.
That must hurt, that must be uncomfortable. I'm wearing my
flip flops.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
I'd like to dress up personally. Yeah, not that I
not say I will do it, but I like the
idea of it.

Speaker 7 (06:36):
Yeah.

The next week I definitely came in the foot flops,
but it's it's more.

Comfortable from heels to foot flops.

Maybe sneakers, maybe the little sands, little bricking stocks. But
and then she saw mister Big coming out in his ARMMANI.
She said it was a shock and she saw She
thought the only thing he believed doing on Sundays was
the Yankees. He's with a woman who he puts in
a cab and then walks over to carry and Carrie
is like, hello there.

He's like, what are you doing here?

Speaker 6 (07:04):
She's like research, No one, Carrie. I would have thought
she was talking me. I'm surprised I didn't come up.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
I'm doing a column one closet Presbyterians.

Actually I'm an antheist, but they'll tell that to the ministry.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
M atheists says, A lot explains a lot Big. Do
you think he was kidding though, No, no, no, it's
being real.

Speaker 6 (07:28):
But I don't think atheist means worship the devil. It
means you don't believe in any higher power at all.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
So it's a it's a way of being.

But I don't think it automatically equates the evil person personally. No, No,
I just I personally need somebody who believes in God.

I think faith in God is the middle of any relationship,
like you need to have a god fearing man, because
you know, I've had an atheist and I've had god
fearing men, and the god fearing men are just better
in my experience.

I just can't. I can't be with somebody who doesn't
believe personally.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Or even if it's not a particular specific religion, religion
at least being to like spirituality something like you.

Don't you know, yeah, I'm not a huge fan of
structured religion, although I go to church, but I definitely,
you know, have my Bible, have my relationship with God
and Jesus, and I just think that's so important for me.
She asked who the mystery woman was and he was
like that you know that he put in the cab
and he's like, that's my mother. He takes her to
church every Sunday. And she smiled. She was like, she

loves that. You never told me that. And he's like, well,
you're right on Sundays. So it's so cute finding got
new key things about your man. She asked, every Sunday
you go to church. He's like right, and they both laughed.
So he's like, hey, I got like some time before
my racketeering class. You want to my racketball game, racketeer

my racketball game, and you want to have some coffee.
She's like, I can'd on a deadline and her cappuccina,
her cappuccino just kicked in, so she has sleeve. But
she sarcastically says, God Bless before she leaves. And I
love the fact that you know she has a life
outside of mister Big. Yeah, that was one of those
small times that we see Carrie just sticking to her life, Yeah,

and not obsessed about him. I thought they we at
least hug her, kissed her something, but.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Okay, yeah, she did kind of just walk off bye,

Weirdo that one time.

Was one of those awkward relationship moments where you feel
like you know nothing about the person you thought you
knew everything about.

It's like you're continuously going to be learning things about
your partner.

It's only been a few months.

You're not going to know everything that happened from the

Charlotte and Miranda in the next scene, and Miranda's like,
he goes to church with his mother. Charlotte says, a
man who cares about his mother makes a wonderful husband,
and Carrie thinks it's sweet. Miranda's like, yes, well, yes,

it's shadower after sex.

That was her on her uh on her.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Carry shit, Yeah she did that last episode too, Yeah
she did. Charlotte can't believe that Miranda's man is still
doing that, and Miranda's like, she suplised he has skin
after all the showers he takes after sucks with her,
and Carrie's like, well, why don't you shower with him.
Miranda's like, nah, I'm scared her pull out across in
some garland.

That was funny.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
That was after, you know, they find out what Churchie
goes to. She's like, the thing is, I'm trying to
meet his mother.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
You just found out he had a mother. She's crazy
and I love her, but she's crazy. So can you
imagine can you.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Imagine getting on the good side of his mother is
like closing.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
The deal, which is true.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
I guess you want to get on you want to
mama like you, but you know, and down time, not
in yours, in due time.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
That's when Samantha walks in and she's like, I'm sorry,
I'm late. She had a five hour lunch with Jane's
and then she's like, I'm in love, which is crazy
coming from Samantha. They're all super shocked, and Carrie even
even says that Samantha falling in love is as unfathomable
as Moses partying the red scene.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Heard it and to her religious her religious metaphors. I
love it. I love the themed episode.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
But this is so for two with Samantha just seeing
the side of her that I think is a little different,
like her falling in love, her being opened to a
potential relationship, and then even last episode where she was
into the celibacy. So it just shows how there are
some layers to Samantha outside of just sex.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
I really enjoyed getting to know this side of Samantha.

She met James a couple of weeks ago on a
particularly black Wednesday night and she went out and treated
herself to some great music. He walks up to her
and he says it was a meet cute norms m
I couldn't.

Help but notice how you moved to the music. It's
a beautiful part.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Well, I love jazz.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
He's like, that's evident. She asked if he's a musician,
and he's like, yeah, I'm a musician trapped in the
body of a Lawyer's so cute, and she's like, okay,
I won't tell anyone. They just have real cute banter
back and forth, like a Rocue connection. They closed the
drink down actually with their cute little banter and conversation.
After he joins her at her table, and then they're
taking a walk in the middle of the night. He
even offers her a glaze Crispy Kreme donut that don't

It did look I wanted a bite. Man reminded me.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
How much I used to love blaze donuting. That was
that really did make me excited. I really haven't been
the same.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
No, they aren't. Nothing's the same in twenty twenty four.
It's all processed. But anyway, that glade was dale nut
from the nineties was something special. And she's like, oh,
it's heaven and I never thought i'd get there. He's like,
why not an angel like you? I love the banter,
but again for me another red flag. If the person
I'm interested in says I never thought I'd get to heaven,
why not just be banter?

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Yeah, it's flirting, honestly, Like I loved, I loved seeing
this whole meat cute unfold. You know, she found love
on a random Wednesday, See you like.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
I love that. I believe in that by herself.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Yeah, yeah, and you know what, I think, this is
the first time we see one of them go out
on their own, doing their own thing, not looking for men,
and coming from Tamantha. It's also very surprising.

I agree, I agree, and even more surprising.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
She didn't invite him up. She just wished him a
good night. He wished her the same and asked her
out again. So it was cute. He rubbed her face,
and with that touch, she was surely in love. Now
we're back at the scene with her girlfriends because that
was a little flashback, and she's like, I didn't even
know you could talk to men before James. The only
thing I ever said to men was give it to
me and go home. She tributes Charlotte for her new

outlook on men.

Speaker 7 (13:37):
What did I do all that goals you spouted about
not sleeping with men right away actually paid off. I mean,
if I thought James already, who knows what're we?

Speaker 2 (13:47):
We haven't had sex, so yeah, she hasn't had sex yet,
but she plans on doing it soon.

And Charlotte's like, ahh, that's great.

But she says a little awkwardly, and then we know
why she says it like that because Carrie narrates that
the idea of Samantha possibly being married before Charlotte shook
Charlotte to the core, so she had to take drastic measures.

That bothers me so much when it comes to friendships,
like being like that low level or underlying layer of
competition and I want it for all of us, but.

And I've come across people like that to the point
where you got to go out and do some extra
shit to make sure you get it before I do.
I hate that an extra shit is right because Charlotte
took her as to a psychic and the psychic is
reading her cards and she tells Charlotte, great.

Success in your future, but I do not see marriage. Well,
how can you just say that like that? I mean,
what about my feelings? Honey? I'm a psychic, not a shrink.

And after acting like that because your friend's happy, you
need to see your shrink.

And the next scene, Carrie is asking Big about his
mother because she just can't get over it. He has
a mom and she just needs to know everything.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Now.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
She's like, I want to I'm going to come to
church with you. He shocked, and he's like, you want
to go to church. He's like, she's like, you're saying, look,
I'm the Antichrist or something. He says, it's not that.
I just never thought of you as a church type.
She says, what type of man. He's like, well, you're
the most incredibly beautiful intelligence type.

Oh that's that was sweet.

Big knows how to talk to Caro. You know, she's crazy.

And he asked what religion are you and she's like, well,
I'm not a religious religion in particular, but I'm open
to all of them.

He's like, oh, he says, like seven eleven. She didn't
say that, but she says, I don't want to go.

My mother and I do, just the two of us.

I would respect that personally. I don't even see myself
taking that personal. It's a private thing between him and
his mom. You witnessed it yourself, so you know he's
really with his mom.

I don't get the need to be a part of
his situation with his mom. I'm like, you don't need
to be a part like I need private time with
my mom. I spend a lot of time with you.

girlfriend for a couple months.

goes to church on Sundays. Obviously, if he was interested
in bringing you along, he would have mentioned it, right.

So he sees the upset in her face, and he's like,
all right, you know what, you want to go to
the Caribbean next week?

And she's like, I can't afford it.

He's like, it's all right, I'll buy the tickets and
you just buy me a big margarita when we get there.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
I was gonna say, that's just like a typical big
like deflection and it was a good one. Tip, but
you're not about to be my mom. But I will
take you to the Caribbean, a really good one.

And that is a step in their relationship. I think,
like we we saw them in bed all last episode
and then you know her getting rejected left and right
now he wants to go on vacation with you. That
is a pivotal step in a relationship. Okay, and he's
paying for everything all you got to.

Anyway, Miranda's back cam and sex were her guy and
he goes take a shower and she doesn't want to
let him get up because with her boundaries to these bitches,
I mean, to these women.

is that the gospel according to Miranda? What are you
gonna tell me next? That God made the body? And
if God made the body and sex is an expression
of that body, how can anything made by that God
made body be considered sin Well? Yeah, it's a mixercle

I think the reaction was a little bit excessive, but accurate.

I just also think Miranda again wasn't respectful of his
boundaries though, Like when you disrespect somebody's boundaries, you're who
knows what reaction you're going to get.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, you don't
have to leave because guess what, by the time he
gets out the shower, he doesn't want you here.

He's just because she likes suggests. He's trying to help
you out. Like, you know, you don't gotta go crazy.
You don't have to think of yourself as some terrible
person for doing something that you're naturally going to keep
on doing anyway. So I continue to feel guilty about it.

I don't know. I'm kind of on his side. I
think Miranda is his boundaries.

Man, Yes, I get that, but I feel like he's
being a little ridiculous because if he really believed sex
was sinful, he wouldn't be having sex with women unless
they were married, right right. So I feel like it's like,
you can't use religion here and there, you know, molded
to fit your your specific I don't know, like like

Keeping it within himself and he's not making it your problem,
he just wants to take a shower. I think that's
either you want to leave because he does that that's
what he needs to do to feel comfortable. Then you
can leave if that makes you uncomfortable. But to try
to change that about him when that's what he needs
for his own spiritual relationship with God, that's not your
place to get into, like that's what he needs.

I've been in that situation before, and it was the

I too have been in a similar situation. I have
a lot of respect for this person. They were very

was so freaking nice and perfect.
