I'm Kayla, I'm Elijah, Kai, I'm and Dana's gone.

Dana's on her eat love Prey. She is traveling, but
she is with us in spirit. We are three single
women in our thirties dating who happened to love Sex
and the City. We've been breaking down the episodes one
by one and we finally made it to episode seven,
the Monogamous and Oh my God to watch. Yeah, I

mean it was very enjoyable, but just like our girls
were just letting me, letting me down.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
A little bit with a little bit of their actions.
But you know, it's new. It's Sex and City, right,
That's what they do. That's what they do.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
So after the classic intro, Carrie starts with explaining the
feeling of love. Her and mister Big are completely infatuated.
According to her, she says, us.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Four hour conversations flew by in the space of fifteen
minutes and a few days apart, felt like weeks. I
realized that Einstein's law of relativity would have to be
amended to include a special set of rules. Those two
explain the peculiar effects of infatuation.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
They are so infatuated they genuinely seem like love when
four hours feels like fifteen minutes, and a day apart
feels like a couple of weeks. Oh, I love that
feeling so much. Yeah, I was loving the honeymoon phase.
It's always the best part of a relationship where you're like,
I don't know, just wanting to be around that person
all the time, nothing else matters.

Speaker 4 (01:51):

Speaker 6 (01:55):
No, I mean, I'm happy for her. She's enjoying herself.
It seems like the in a relationship, you know.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
In the next scene, Miranda calls and she jokes about
how Carrie's been a stranger lately.

Mm hm.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Carrie's like, I've been meeting a call, but I've been
Miranda's like, effing your brains out, and Carrie's like, listen,
that's the least of it. So after she had sex
on the first date, they were able to build a
real relationship that's not just based around sex.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
It seems like, yeah, they genuinely enjoy each other's time.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
And I would get mad at Carrie about neglecting her girlfriends,
but I just feel like that kind of goes.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Hand in hand with the honeymoon phase.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
It's not something that should last forever, but when I'm
in a new relationship, I just want to be around my.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
Me and my me and my man exactly.

You know, as someone who hasn't really been in a relationship,
I feel like I've already told my friends that once
I'm in a relationship, they can tell me nothing. I'm
gonna be like bye, I'll call you when I call you.

I feel like it's immature too for people to be
mad or take it personal when you're spending time or
your man, Like, it's completely understandable, Like you say, you're
an the honeymoon phase, Like you know what someone's going
through with their person, you know where they want to be,
and that person's doing things for them that you're not
about to do for them, so it's understandable that they'd
rather be around them that part. Carrie's like, I haven't
been hit this hard since never mind. I don't even

want to compare it to anything else because everything else
has ended and I just don't want that for this relationship.
Miranda's like, so, well, I actually see you sometime. Carrie's like,
how about tonight, big hat of dinner. Anyway, I wasn't
going to see him. And she's like, oh my gosh,
would you listen to yourself?

And Carrie says.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
I've become one of those women we hate.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Which it does get annoying.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
You know, when your friends in a new relationship and
all they do is talk about their man as somebody.
I can understand the person in the relationship, and I
can also understand the friend.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Girl, I don't love him, I love you. I want
to talk about you.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
But sometimes when your friends are in that infatuation, faces
like my me and my me and ma me, and
it also comes off annoying when you're the friend. Yeah,
I found it funny that she's like, I'm becoming one
of those girls we hate, Like Carrie, it's been you.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, I didn't even realize that, but you're right.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
But Carrie's like, I realized I had committed the cardinal sin.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
I had forsaken my girlfriends for my new boyfriends for
her new boyfriend. Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
That was supposed to be blural, just one, just one boyfriend,
quote unquote. And at night she had to face the tribunal.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
We really weren't.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
Just completely hurt an offended. Actually he missed.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
A lot of So Carrie catches up with her friend.
She learns that Miranda had a huge merger at work.
Samantha's wanting to move, she's obsessed with apartment shopping, and
Charlotte's practically engaged again, but.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
This time it is to Michael Conway.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
He's from a good New York family and absolutely adored Charlotte.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
And she thinks it might be the one again. Right,
She had to retime, I'm not mad, though, I get it.
I think every guy's the one too. This it's true.
I love love you, hope you hope each one is
the one.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah, And being in love and just having that dream
is just so fun. It's so fun to live in.
You just feel happier, healthier.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
You want to just.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Put your all into every aspect of your life because
that the aspect.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Is going good. You have things to look forward to.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
And Seam and Miranda met him. They actually agree that
he's so perfect. Actually his dog is even perfect. But
Charlotte has one dumb ass complaint. Let me tell you,
this complaint is so dumb in twenty twenty four, but
in the nineties, I guess it was a big deal
or am I being harsh?

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Yeah, it seems a little immature.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
Yeah, it seems a little prudish to me.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
I don't know if this was the thing back in
the nineties where it wasn't common, you know, I was
only in high school myself or younger.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
Yeah, or is it just a Charlotte thing.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Well, the complaint is they went on a date and
then they played blow job tug of war.

He wants one, and apparently she hates doing it.

I did not appreciate him, like pushing her head that's
what it was.

Respectful immediately know, honestly, Like, I feel like that's a

Okay, maybe it will lead to that, maybe it won't,

Now he could ask I mean he could gesture, but
to actually move her head that way, I don't know.
And I do think the girl's reaction to her not
wanting to do it was a little bit extra, like
if she doesn't want to do it, that's her prerogative.

They're all like, honey, you can't be serious. Are you
telling us you never perform this act.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
She'll juggle, she'll spin playing so she won't get bad.

Funny he cracked me up there.

Yeah, yeah, I fel where Charlotte was coming from. I
do feel like in this day and time today, it's
probably not realistic. I mean, I've watched there's an episode
of Housewives I like from Housewives New Jersey, not an
episode but a franchise. I love Housewives in New Jersey,
and there is one of the wives on there who
admits that she does not like to.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Do that for her husband. He does seem content with that.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
It seems like it's something that's airy once in a
blue if at all. And I just wonder if that
really is realistic or if he's getting it somewhere else. Well,
Charlotte has a really strong gag reflex, and I think
that everybody's sexual preference is just different, Like some people
really value head and some people are like I could
take her or leave it.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
You know what, having a gag reflex, a really bad
gag reflex shouldn't stop you. But still like, I can
respect Charlotte's where she's coming from. If she doesn't like it,
she doesn't like it, right, But I feel like the
way her friends frame it, you have to do it
in order to receive it. That's also like not true,
not true.

No, not true, no, no immature. If someone's like, oh,
I'm not gonna do you if you can do me,
that's right to get hit like what.

And to be and to be fair to Charlotte. Charlotte's
like I did try, like I practiced.

of the day, I really just don't like it. Miranda

But I also think maybe maybe it was different in
the nineties, because I think that's like, if you don't

And Samantha says, some guys don't give you a choice,

Carrie's like, yeah, that's just bad behavior, and I have
to agree with carry girl. Yeah, one thousand percent right.
I wish a man would not give me a choice,

I know someone who claims they did that before told
the man that she did not want that to happen.
They did it anyway, and she spit it right in
his or wait it till they were kissing and then period.

Charlotte's like, you honestly like it, and Carrie is like,
it's not my favorite thing on the menu, but I
order it from time to time, and with the right.

Guy, it could be kind of nice. I just love
the way Carrie talks.

Listen, I one hundred percent agree with Carrie, and that's
very you know, not often, it's very rare. But yeah,
I feel like, with the right guy, it's a really
nice experience.

Yeah, truthfully, I.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Would like to be more liking of it, but I'm
just it's just not where I'm at. So as a
grown aice woman, I do feel like I could, you know,
grow up a little bit more in that area.

I guess you more comfortable with it.

Miranda's like Earl's God's give to women is how you
can get off and not get pregnant. And I get
I get liking it, but I don't get getting off
to now Like I don't that, but I do know
women that are like I just love to do it.
It's my favorite thing on the menu. Men don't even
have to ask for it. I'm just dropping on my
knees because I enjoy it so much. And I'm like, hmm,
are you people pleasing?

Do you need something? Or is that really a thing?

I don't know, it just it's just something I can't
relate to.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
I can relate to it, too, but I've been in
the situation where I really liked the guy and I
really liked doing it, So I think it's it really
does matter on the person you're you know, dealing with.

Yeah, I agree your sex should be about the connection
with the person, and that does make things more fun more.
I don't know, And I don't agree with Miranda when
she says it's like you don't have to worry aboutting pregnant,
Mean you don't, but like it doesn't replace the.

I wouldn't know that that's all we're doing tonight as
birth control. Like no, especially if you're just receiving and
that what the hell am I getting out of this day? Yeah,
this doesn't seem fair. Yeah yeah, But Samy that thinks
it's a sense of power.

Maybe you're on your knees, but you got him by
the boss, which I do want. I do.

I do think that there is something so powerful that
you have. You do have a lot of the chips
in your hand at that point. I think that it's
a way, I don't want to say, to control a man,
but yeah, if you're doing that, he's going to be
wanting to be around you. However, I don't know that.
I feel empowered on my knees serving. I just know personally, Yeah.

road with him, how do you expect him to go
down on you?

And we already discussed, like yeah, what some men just
do it. They love it.

It's a trip to Baskin Robins for them. Yes, I
mean I do see the point. I think it's immature
for man's Like, like I said earlier, if you don't
do me, I'm not going to do you. But I'm
not someone who thinks you should just receive, receive and
not try to please your person. I know eventually, like
even if I don't like doing it, over time, I
might feel like, you know, let me return the favor.

And that's what makes me think Charlotte's dry is a

the person he's at dinner with happens to be a woman.
Her happiness just fades away. She looks kind of confused.
Maybe the hell is going on here?

I mean, she ain't know what she was about to
walk into. You ain't see that he was with a
girl from across the room, Like she just saw Hamy
and Hammy and Harmyn when she just said earlier an episode,
it's just them two and all a manhattan.

I mean, that's what I'm like, did honestly, did she
just pretend like she didn't see the woman or what?

nice to meet you, and then she's like, hey, Big,
can I talk to you for a second?

He's like sure, She's like, excuse us, and then they
walk away.

If I was Julia Woods, I'd be pissed, Bradshaw, pissed,
like miss the big this is where, this is where
the Atlantic City, New Jersey comes out of me because
I don't care what kind of restaurant we are in.
This would have been a scene and I need to
emotionally control my emotions better. I agree, but I'm flipping
the table. I'm cursing her out because I ain't got
no decorum. I'm cursing you out. That's just what it is.

But Carrie, excuse them. I feel like it's ingrained in
me to think, like, if you're not going over there
to shut shit down, calling it just out, then what's
you doing?

Okay? But Carrie just says, are you on a date?

I thought you said you had a business thing tonight.
Well she's stunning, and I should know, because frankly she's stunned.

He asks, are you okay? And she's like, I didn't
realize you were dating other women. He's like, not a
lot of other women. Let's talk Saturday.

What are you going through norms?

Speaker 6 (17:13):
I mean, I don't know what I want to say.
Is that you already know. I have my dislike towards
mister Big, but I feel like this is when it
really starts, like it when he really shows the kind
of person he is. And we know what Carrie does,
but I feel like this is this is not okay.

You know, especially in the beginning of the episode, we
see them very happy in the honeymoon face, like that
gives me the idea that they are in a committed relationship.
And so the question is, are you really supposed to
not assume you're not in a relationship if the hanging
out is going this way, like, well.

They know you know what they say when you assume.
I think it is a conversation. They're both grown, they're
both single. It wasn't like like, hey, let's be exclusive.
You're my girlfriend.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
Now.

You knew he was a bachelor beforehand, you knew he
was dating models and everything. I think it's a conversation,
even if we are together every day.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
And the thought I think is like, you know, are
we exclusive?

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah, I agree it should be a conversation, but I
also agree with you, like this is where Big kind
of shows you who he is. Maybe to some extent
he's like leading her on you know so yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:25):
Can I because in the episode in episode six, right
before this episode, right, you know how she does this
whole thing of going to his apartment drunk and then
asking him like, so are we a thing? Like is
this real? And he's yes. All he says is could
be right. He doesn't really give it like a definite yes,
but that I feel like that is leading her on.

I agree.

I think Big, like I said before, is a simple guy.
What he says to you is exactly what he means.
So if he did not say that we are in
a relationship and you are my girl and you're the
only person I'm seeing, then that's not the case.

Oh I already said that, we'll enjoy it twice and
then she goes back to her friends and she's.

Like, he's seeing other women. Prick. And that's also why

This couldn't happen when I was by myself, super embarrassing

She's pacing her apartment in the next scene, and she's like,
it's true. They never really discussed exclusivity. So she said,
for another man, it'll be like if she was to
have another man right now, be like fitting an outfit
into an already over stuffed suitcase. Yet BIG's doing it
like it's the most natural thing in the world. Do
men have an innate aversion to monogamy or is this

more than that? Has monogamy become too much to expect
in a city like New York with ultimate possibilities? Yeah, unfortunately,
I do feel like you know, and I don't know
if all men feel this way. I feel like there
are men probably who do want to be monogamous. But
I've also talked to men where they believe it's not
natural for them to be monogamous. And this was back
in the nineties, you know, where it's like they don't

even have access to social media and dating apps, and
where it looks like everybody's genuinely at your fingertips. They're
just talking about living in a crowded city. I think
it's so much harder in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 6 (20:23):
Mm hmm. I think polyamory is suffering more popular nowadays.
But as much as we shouldn't yuck polyamory, don't yuck
my monogamy. Right, So I'm very much into monogamy, and
I feel like, then it really is important to have
this conversation, right and are we exclusive even more now?
Because I wouldn't want to be dating someone who isn't

just stating me and he's dating all around and he's a.

Little messy with it. He's not even clean about it,
like you're just outside with it. And we'll move into
that a little bit later in the episode, for sure.

But the streets had some opinions about monogamy, and this
again is the nineties.

They're saying, I've been involved.

In monogamous relationship for over a year now.
