(00:06):
Hello, hello, Hello. Weare on episode four. Now, wow,
man, it's flying by, notreally. Welcome to the Shamrock Sports
Cast and we have a lot totalk about. We have a run turn
on your mic. What the dogon the left side? Are you're right?
You're right side? Oh yeah, right there? Okay, now we

(00:29):
started. Okay, Hello, hello, hello, welcome to episode four of
the Shamrocks Sports Casts. I'm rowandElbert and Holmes. Willhelmes couldn't make it
today yet, something come up,Trisan Cook. Dennis is back after a

(00:49):
very brief hiatus, and we havea new member to introduce, mister Drew
Taylor. How you doing, myfriend doing good? Glad to be here.
Yeah, we got Callie and Adrianhere and let's begin the show like
we usually do, and let's talkabout last week's matchup. Let's talk about
Noblesville and Westfield. Middle of therail game. Tristan, you lived it,

(01:12):
what was it like? It wasgreat? I felt like in the
first half offense we did good,I mean amazing. We came out fire
and we scored. Second half cameout a little bit soft, but defense
got it done and kut us tothe defense. So hopefully this week,

(01:34):
we can produce on both sides forthe whole game. And the one thing
I do want to take away fromthat though, is just how much like
Logan Schaffner for Noblesville they're running back. That was like the main priority stopping
him all week. And then youknow, I think other than that big
run play he had, like thesix dr touchdown, I think we contained

(01:57):
him for the most part. Yeah, we I forgot what the forgot what
it was, but we have ateam meeting every Monday, and defense held
him to like the lowest that theyever had, So, you know,
great, great defense a gad.Yeah. But also Jackson Gilbert thought,
I mean, he had quite thegame. I mean the interception, which

(02:22):
I believed that was, like youyou said when we were on commentary,
Drew Drews said that it was ithad to be just a miscommunication between Bo
and Jackson on that interception by Richardson. Yeah, it did. And but
what I love about Jackson is hhe's so mature beyond his years. I

(02:42):
mean it's his first year playing Ibelieve arsity football, and the way he
produces on the field, his mindset, it's pretty incredible to see. Yeah,
I mean also I think the onething I do want to point out
is how the defense, I meanjust the defense in the first staff,
I was very impressed of how theywere able to take the run game away.

(03:06):
I mean, their only first halfpoints came off the normal shotgun formation,
which I think surprised all of usthat they went to that. And
you know we're able to score ona deep passing play. I did not
know they were capable of that. And honestly, I mean this this game,
I mean, it holds a lotof weight. And the guy I

(03:28):
want to talk about though, MichaelWebster. He had quite the game on
both ends of the ball. Hehad a fumble recovery after Deacon King lit
up Schoffner and then also two touchdowns, including the go ahead touchdown. I
mean, what is your biggest takeawayfrom MICA's performance? Mica? MICA's Micah.

(03:49):
That's all I gotta say. Michaelhad an amazing game, like everyone
said, But you know that it'sthe way that he brings energy to every
practice every week, and that's whatyou see on the football field every Friday
night. So when you see that, that's what practices like every day.
So he's a he's a phenomenal playerand he will get it done every single

(04:13):
game. I wanted to add tothe athletic park of Mica. I had
noticed last year freshman track season hewas running the four hundred and he was
he was smoking quite a bit ofpeople at his size, so because it
was pre compressive see, but alsoI don't know very many players that can
play running back in linebacker at sucha high level. I mean, I

(04:36):
mean, the dude, he's yeah, like like you said, he's so
fast for a linebacker. He's builtlike a linebacker. The dude, like
you said, he can run thefour hundred very well. And last year
playing tight end a lot too,So that just shows how versatile he is,
not only in the run game onoffense, but as a pass catcher.

(04:57):
Anyone else would talk want to talkabout Mica. I mean, Mike
is a great player. Like wesaw him last week with two touchdowns,
and he does a lot. Youknow, I'm gonna kind of compare him
to Travis Hunter in Colorado. TravisHunter does a lot, So he's kind
of like I'm not saying he's likeTraps Hunter, but you can compare him
to like how he plays both sidesof the ball. I actually, yeah,

(05:18):
I think that's a really good comparisonnow that I think about it.
I mean, they both played differentpositions on each end of the on each
side of the ball. I thinkwhat Mike is doing, I think to
play running back and linebacker. Obviouslythe high school levels easier, and Mica
doesn't get too many carries at runningback. I think this is like really

(05:39):
the first time all season where he'sreally gotten at least like two or three
carries a game at running back. But let's say Michael was like the full
time RB one and was playing linebackeras well. I think that would be
much harder than playing corner and receiver. But that's just me, Adrian,
What do you have to say aboutMicah? Yes, you know the fact

(05:59):
that he and play both positions andlike so well, I think everything's kind
of been sad. He's a greatplayer. I agree with that, Callie.
That was a good comparison, andI'm just exlad to see what he's
gonna do for us this weekend.Yeah, great analysis. Let's talk about
anyway. Anyway, Let's talk aboutjust next week. That is going to

(06:25):
be a huge matchup hsccene Man.I mean it's it's a revenge matchup last
year losing in the sectional twenty nothing. I mean, Tristan you you you
lived it. I guess like howmuch like is revenge like the mindset this
week for your team? Of course, you know we've UH all week we've

(06:50):
been talking about how UH they beatus twice last year, once at homecoming
and then second in regionals where weput up a goose And we're not going
to do that this week. Andour main focus is as an offensive line
to block their nose guard, whichwho is their best player on the defensive

(07:12):
line and by a mile, andI feel like he's one of the best
defensive linement in the state, sonext to Goodvine. So if we if
we block him, move him offthe ball and open up the lane Micah
or whoever plane is running back thisweek this Friday, we'll score and we'll
run for a million yards. Yeah. And another guy from HSC do I

(07:36):
want to talk about on the defensiveside of the ball, is that their
middle linebacker, Judah Parker. Thatguy is something thirty seven tackles on the
season so far, eleven of thembeing solo and two point five tackles for
loss. I mean, HSC,they have a few guys that are above

(07:56):
twenty tackles on the season, whichis quite impressive. And obviously the main
storyline on the offensive side of theball is Jayleen Alexander. Are you guys
bought into the Jalen Alexander hype?I can't say for myself because I play
offense, not defense, so Idon't know what they're I don't know what

(08:18):
defense is preparing to do. Butfrom this week's practice, especially last night's
practice, we we look like ateam that's gonna win this game. And
if we play like we practice Wednesdayand Tuesday, we're gonna win this game.
Yeah. How often do you playlike you practice? H I said,

(08:43):
you saw most of it in Newpowweek. Uh, that that's when
the both sides produced. But youknow right now, But the past couple
of games, like LC's kind ofone sided Zions was kind of one sided.
So we're trying to get all thisone sided stuff gone and be a

(09:05):
complete team. Absolutely, being ateam is really important, and playing like
you can't be one sided or likeonly working for yourself. You need to
work for the whole team, andlike the togetherness is just like really needs
to be seen out on the field, and just from like watching some of

(09:26):
the past games, you can kindof see some of that that's definitely needed
some work this year. But that'sgood hearing that it's been getting a lot
better during practices and you think, you think this is going to be a
win. Yeah, And I needto have that confidence level against a very
hard opponent, and like HSC,I mean there's no doubt about it,

(09:50):
Like we know what they are,we know that they're legit. Last week
against Fishers, I think both HSCand Fishers are top ten school in the
state by far. I think itshouldn't even be a debate. HSC winning
in overtime on a two point conversionthirty five thirty four. I mean,
it's very impressible with his team hasbeen been able to do this year,

(10:13):
undefeated in the first game against theyear the year, the first game of
the year against Carol that was aa fourteen point win for them, and
it came from two pick sixes, which is very impressive. I think that
was Mason Alexander. So but goingback to Jalen Alexander, they're running back

(10:37):
so far on the year, he'sbeen the main storyline. I mean ten
yards for carry, seven touchdowns, already over five hundred yards. I mean
he's got an offer from Army.I mean the kids. The kid's a
good player. I think there's nodoubt about that. So Drew, I
guess what is he really? Allthat is the hype? Really there is

(11:01):
he that guy? I mean,I think with how it's looking, yes,
but I don't know that. Ican't speak for the type of competition
they played. Man, No,Fishers is a tough team, so I
think this will be a legitimate test. I know Westwoods got a pretty good
defensive line, and we'll see howhe handles that. Yeah, I'm gonna

(11:22):
agree with Drew. You know, they applied some good teams like Fishes,
but I think Westfield's really gonna bringthere his true competitor and who he really
is. You certainly, you certainlyneed to be looking out for a lot
of good players on this team, not even just Jaylen alexand they're like Donovan
Hamilton, just like a lot ofthe players on this team are really good.

(11:43):
There's like just a lot of theweeks, there's only a couple that
you really need to be looking outfor. And this there's there's a whole
list of them. So just makingsure that we're playing our best. And
I agree with with some a littlebit of the hype. I'll give him
the credit, but I definitely thinkthis week's this Friday, it's gonna be
a challenge for him. Oh yeah, I believe so as well. I

(12:07):
mean, if we're going back tilllast week, what they did to Schaffner,
which obviously Schopner, I mean nodisrespect whatsoever, great player for what
he's done at Noblesville, but Ifeel like Jail Alexander is a different level.
And but I think with the wayour run game, the way our
run defense played last week, otherthan the big touchdown run, I think

(12:31):
we could absolutely hold Alexander to undereighty yards. I don't think that's a
ridiculous thing. And I do wantto talk about their quarterback though, Shandler
Weston. They don't pass very often, only fifty only fifty four attempts on

(12:52):
the year, but when he doesstore the ball, he's pretty accurate throw
getting about seventy percent of his passes, seven touchdowns, only one pick over
five hundred yards. I mean, what have you seen from Weston that could
be an issue for this jam Rocksteam. I don't know. Uh,

(13:13):
I haven't really watched him. I'vebeen focused on defense. But the way
that people says, he sounds likea pretty good player. But uh,
I know we got we got Jackson. Jackson can scramble and can throw the
ball. I think right now we'renumber one in passing in the HCC.
I could be wrong, Uh,but where one of the last in rushing.

(13:37):
So we gotta we gotta run theball this week. That's main focus
this week. But I don't knowabout Chandler. Uh, it sounds he
sounds like a great player. ButHSC is a good team, so you
know, and Weld coach, Soyeah, I mean you, especially as
an old lineman, I guarantee youdefinitely want them to run the ball.
So yeah, I totally Jackson Gilbert. I get why he would be first

(14:01):
in the HCC because I think we'reI wouldn't say we're completely past heavy,
but I think we are one ofthe more past heavier teams in the conference.
Jackson Gilbert has been throwing the ballaccurately, and he's been doing it
pretty consistently, So I'm yeah,I think Jackson Gilbert going we talked about
him earlier. I mean, he'sexceeded all of our expectations, I believe,

(14:24):
I think, which obviously I expecteda lot from him, but he's
exceeded that. He's taken that barand taken and he's taking it to a
whole different level. And I thinkthat's incredible. Gotta give Chandler west In
some credit though, too, becausehe's just he's just amazing players. Especially
with last year two. He reallycarried him through. So you really need

(14:45):
to like look back to on lastyear's season a little bit and how far
he led them. And I thinkthat this this week is going to be
a very very very close game.Yeah, I mean the past what three
have been, Yes, I meanit's a roller CoA serve emotions. I

(15:05):
mean I've called games with both Drewand Callie on the live broadcasts, and
it's been it's been pretty fun.I mean I enjoy the close games.
I'm sure I enjoyed them more thanyou do, Tristan. I mean,
I mean chairs were broken. Theywere already broken, to be fair,

(15:26):
so one broke the chair. Nowif the chair was broken before I allegedly
broke it, By the way,I am getting a pie in the face
sometime within the next couple of days. I don't know when it's coming,
but it's going to be. It'sgonna be. It's gonna be pretty fun.
Thank you all for one hundred followerson the Instagram account. But if
going path to Chandler Weston, Imean pretty accurate quarterback when he does throw

(15:50):
the ball, which isn't as muchas you know Jackson Gilbert obviously, but
like, how do you what doyou think they Westfield can do to stop
I guess just not just the rungame, but the past game as well.
I think the defense has to bekind of on their heels a little
bit. I have to stay anticipatedNoblesville. Last week there was I believe

(16:12):
I think it was the first touchdownnobles Will score. They weren't shotgun.
We hadn't seen that all day really, so then he just got it hard
to anticipate it. But I thinkthey have to anticipate. I think when
it comes to stopping h Alexander, they got to stack the box really hard
and try to take him off theirbalance. Yeah, donoph and Hamilton's like

(16:34):
his main wide receiver, so didI mean did he has to watch out
for everybody but Donovan Hamilton's gonna beone of his first targets. He looks
at yeah without a doubt. Imean yeah, because Dov and Hamilton's four
touchdowns on the year, leading theteam in receptions and receiving yards. I
mean, he's been their guy,the senior, Donovan Hamilton's number one look

(16:59):
out for him. And finally,to wrap up football, let's get a
score prediction here. Let's start withanyone. Anyone can go. Let's get
a score prediction for this Friday.I'm thinking we're both going to kind of
hold each other back a little bitand it's gonna be super close. So
I'm thinking maybe I don't know likeit. Twenty eight twenty eight, twenty

(17:22):
nine, twenty eight, twenty nine, Wow, I mean so Westfield,
right, Okay, good good? But yeah, I mean I could totally
see that. Twenty nine twenty eightthat might be score GAMI. Yeah,
I would have to look at that, but at twenty nine twenty eight could

(17:44):
happen. Let's let's see anyone elsescore prediction. I'm gonna go kind of
like hers. I'm gonna go twentyseven twenty eight Hamilton. Southeastern's gonna miss
Pat and west is going to win. That's actually I like that. I
think that's a I didn't do mymask correctly. There, that's by that.
I mean it's okay, But like, I mean, they could could
happen. They could go for likea surprise two point conversion. But yeah,

(18:07):
I'm gonna have to look real quickly. I'm gonna see their kickers accuracy.
I have it pulled up right now. I'm good, look as quickly
as I can. It would haveto be a one point conversion. That's
not a thing, and it won'tshow me. That's that's great. I'm
gonna get twenty eight twenty seven.Okay, there we go. Yeah,
it won't show me. But belMonte the junior, I don't know much

(18:30):
about him. I'm sure he's prettyaccurate because HSC they've been. I mean,
I think to have a good team, you gotta have a good kicker.
Kickers matter too. But yeah, missing a pat, let's get a
blocked pat. How about that? That would be really cool. Well,
let's let's see anyone else score prediction. I'm gonna go twenty four seventeen Westfield.

(18:52):
I think that it's gonna be close. But I think vich of the
Rocks are going to pull away andkind of stunned the Royals at their house
and for themselves to be the bestteam in the HCC. I'm gonna say,
ye fourteen. I feel like it'sgonna be a close game the whole

(19:14):
game. I feel like defense, defense, both defenses are gonna pull through
it. Just I think our offenseis gonna Our offense is gonna play amazing.
So we're gonna run the ball, pass the ball, We're gonna score,
and well they're gonna win. Butit's gonna be a close game.
Oh yeah, definitely. It willbe a hard fought battle on both ends

(19:40):
of the football or both ends ofthe ball. And my prediction, let's
go Westfield thirty one to HSC.Mhm. I mean I really didn't think
about it. I'm gonna go HSCtwenty seven Westfield thirty one. I mean,
this is like you said, It'sgoing to be a hard fought battle

(20:00):
on both ends of the ball.I think Chandler Weston he's going to be
shut down essentially. I see himthrowing not one pick, but two picks,
and I think they're both going toJake Good. That is my bold
prediction. For the game. Andwhile we're at it, let's get everyone's
bold prediction for this game now thatwe have a score prediction. Was a

(20:22):
bold prediction for this matchup? I'mgonna go I don't think Chandler Weston's gonna
pass for over seventy five yards.Wow. Yeah, I think they're gonna
stop them there. So they're gonnago like either one really run heavy or
to keep themselves in the game,or two he's just gonna get absolutely shut
down. I think a little bitof both. You know, mine was

(20:45):
kind of the missph but I'm alsogonna go jail and Alexander is not getting
a touchdown. Oh. I likethat. It's very fold and I mean
it could be because like they couldalso go to their second running back,
Wallace, who has two touchdowns onthe year five yards per carry. Next
year, he's gonna really take overthat full time number RB one spot with

(21:10):
Alexander graduating. So I'm sure AzariaWallace he's going to be the guy that
will take over the mantel for JailAlexander. Let's get some more bold predictions
in here. I think that there'sgonna be a very, very long rushing

(21:33):
touchdown from somebody on our team, and it's gonna be very unexpected. Oh
plot twist. And then the nexttouchdown scored by HSC. They're gonna miss
the field goal. Okay, yes, on punt, I'm gonna get a
tack on missing Alexander. All right, there we go. Okay, so

(21:53):
they have you out there, Yeah, all right on the starting middle shield
the midfield, gotcha, gotcha.Anyway, it's gonna it's gonna be a
fun matchup. Let's move on alittle bit. Let's talk about other sports
in the Westfield area. I dowant to talk about girls golf the other

(22:17):
day, finishing third behind Noblesville andCarmel at the Chatham Meet. I do
work at Chatham Hills, so itholds a little bit of wait for me.
But other than other than that meet, Westfield girls golf has been on
a role. Sam Brown and AddieCoy have been leading the way perfectly.

(22:37):
And boys soccer, I gotta tellyou how impressed I am with them winning
the Westfield Invitational, their own invitational, beating out two teams South Bend,
Washington Tend nothing and then beating Culvertthree nothing in the tournament championship. We've
talked about Oliver Church quite a bit, but this team Church, but this
Westfield team they are I think theystarted they started the year not so hot.

(23:03):
Dan also a two one to winagainst HSC the other night. I
think they are legit. And let'sfinally talk about girls volleyball. They did
compete in the HSC invite last Saturday, and they took on HSC on Wednesday
or yesterday, But let's talk aboutCarmel on the road losing two to one.

(23:27):
I mean, I feel like thisgirl's volleyball team, It's been a
very up and down season for them. I would like that wave to be
a little bit flatter because I don'tbecause I feel like this season has been
rocky in some ways. I feellike this year, I think it's just
more beneficial. I feel like Ijust wish that they were more consistent as

(23:52):
a group. But when they areon it, they're on it. And
I want to end off the podcastand I want to give you all a
just an NFL question, A quickwell NFL question, Who in Week one
I would say was the most impressive. I guess in general, who's been
Who's like your standout player from Weekone in the NFL starting with anyone,

(24:22):
and it's got to be too.Ah. I'm so proud of him for
the sixty six yards. You're proudof him for throwing twenty. Okay,
you know, I'm proud of theyards. And Tyry Kahn an amazing game
too, So oh yeah, Itotally agree. I mean the Dolphins.
I mean, I won't deny two. I had a good game. I
think this Dolphins team, especially withthe Jets, with what happened there winning

(24:48):
the super Bowl. Okay, okay, calm down, not so fast,
but no, I mean the Jets. I mean that that's so brutal with
Aaron Rodgers. Any Jets fan rightnow would just be terrible. I mean,
they, to be fair, theydid win. I think they've I
think they have a top three defensein the league. I think they proved
that shutting down Buffalo. Adrian's sleepingthe room right now. Anyway, they

(25:12):
have a top three defense and Buffalo, I think Buffalo. I think if
the Jets had healthy Aaron Rodgers, this is my hot take, they're winning
that division with ease. I meanthat team looked super good. I think
I think I think they're still aplayoff team, which is how good that
defense is. I think you couldplug in Zach Wilson and then if they

(25:36):
could still grind it out and wina ball game. I think. I
think it's not going to be aspretty. I think they're gonna win like
nine, nine or ten games, but it will be close. So I
don't know if they'll make the playoffsor not, but I think it's gonna
be pretty close. We'll come backto this conversation when the Dolphins beat the
Jets. I mean they play twotimes, you know, so we'll see.

(25:56):
Anyway, who's for anyone else, who's a standout player from week one?
I'm gonna go Christian mccaf right here, you know, getting a long
rushing touchdown and you know he's dealtwith injuries in the past, so this
is kind of like he's found hisrhythm and I hope he just doesn't get
injured this year. I'm gonna stayon the topic. So the running backs,

(26:17):
I'm gonna go Tony Pollard, ohtwo rushing touchdowns, and really the
Dallas Cowboys defense and special teams.I know you set a player, but
a whole unit flick. The DallasCowboys are kind of solidifying themselves as the
best defense in the NFL, andI don't see Dallas. I see them
winning the NFC East. The forcedBuckner, oh yeah, with the fumble

(26:44):
and then fumble recovery for a touchdown. I'm gonna have to say, i'na
have to go on the same thingas drew. The whole close of defense
looked good now other than the fourthquarter. But hopefully our offense can produce
and we can't start winning some games. Because they actually kind of surprised me.

(27:07):
I even though I'm a close fan, they didn't at the beginning of
the season. I'm like, Idon't know if this is gonna be a
great year. But also I don'twant them to win a lot of games
so we can get Marvin Harrison thenext draft and then win the Super Bowl.
So I mean, I think theI think the main priority for the
Colts this offseason. Forget about JonathanTaylor. I think it should be one.

(27:30):
If you can draft Marvin Harrison junior, do it, but also extend
Michael Pittman. That guy was. He's not gonna be my pick for the
standout player, but he was legit. Eight receptions, ninety seven yards,
a touchdown, and I was atthe game actually, and my first takeaway

(27:52):
really was all they do is pastthe Michael Pittman. I mean, the
guy, he's really a wide receivedone and people don't think of him that
way, which they should. Butmy standout player, I'm gonna go with
another Colts defensive player. I'm gonnago with Zaire Franklin. Eighteen tackles,
which I believe is second in theNFL. And this guy he has was

(28:17):
so underrated last year, one hundredseventy tackles and he didn't make the Pro
Bowl. I mean, that's unbelievable. Zire Franklin. It's hard to believe.
This guy was on special teams forso long, like a hidden gem
for the Colts. And then lastyear was really the first year we really
got to see him full time,as you know, just a full time

(28:40):
defensive player, and he was thebest player on the Colts last year.
Him and him, Defoe and Groverwere really the three best players. I
mean, yeah, it was ZaireFranklin. He is a top I'm gonna
say it, he's a top fivelinebacker. If he can keep this up,
I mean I think he may.He may have already surpassed Shaquilla Leonard,

(29:03):
which I think he'll look Shaquilla Leonardlooked impressive in his return and it
might be a little bit of recencybias, but Zire Franklin legit, he
might pass him up. I meanZire Franklin's I think he last year he
had the single season record and Coltsfranchise history for tackles. I mean he's
extremely underrated and even Colts fans don'ttalk about him enough of how great he

(29:30):
is. But I think that's gonnawrap up our show. Any final thoughts
from any bone. Yeah, tostay on the topic of the Colts cut
Alec Pierce. He's got hands likebricks. Yeah, we we we looked
pretty good against a really good daymy bad. We looked really good against
We looked pretty good against a reallygood Jacksonville team. And you know,

(29:53):
if he, you know, decideshe wants to be a receiver and catch
a ball, maybe we could havewon game. But you know, Matthew
Richardson can't do everything. Oh yeah, And going back to Anthony Richardson,
man he looked for a rookie. He looked the best out of the rookie
quarterbacks and not as if we're rankingquarterback performances from week one, he's in

(30:17):
the top ten. The guy.The guy had a great debut and I'm
I think we're gonna see a lotfrom him. I'm really excited about that.
So I think we're gonna wrap itup here. Peace piece, piece
