(00:00):
Do you know that's harsh. Yeah, I mean it's true, but it's
harsh. Hold on, I'm pullingup. I'm pulling up something. Yeah,
I should have told you. Ohit's a little banging. Uh.

(00:21):
All right, all right, we'regood, we're getting there. I just
need this is the actually Okay,we're good. Okay, count down and
start. Hello. Hello, Hello, Welcome to the Shamrocks Sports gast.
We have a pretty light crew ontoday. No Adrian, no, Tristan

(00:46):
will Is gonna show up eventually, just rowing Albert Kellie Sigler. How are
you doing, my friend? I'mgreat. You know. We have a
great crowd here. Oh, agreat crowd. Alan Scheller back there producing,
and yeah, Drew Taylor couldn't makeit today as an ear appointment.
So let's start off the show. We're gonna take a guess what is in

(01:07):
his ear earwax? Well, yeah, they'll they'll do it anyway. I
mean, this podcast unfortunately had tostart it on a pretty you know,
negative, you know kind of moodwith what happened last week with Brownsburg.
I mean thirty seven seven Westfield losing. They were down thirty nothing at halftime.

(01:33):
The one thing I will say thoughin the second in the second half,
Westfield looked way better. But atthe same time, it was with
JV guys in the fourth quarter thatheld their JV guys to zero points.
What was your biggest takeaway from thatgame? I mean, but we just
couldn't stop the run. You know, that's the base takeaway. You know

(01:55):
they scored on the first drive oftheir game. Yeah, I know.
I mean yeah, not only thefirst drive, the very first play,
Garrett Cheryl. I mean that thatguy. I thought we were gonna be
able to stop him, and Iwill admit I was wrong. I thought
for sure that we were going tostop Garrett Cheryld. I thought we were
going to hold him to under ahundred yards. And then it didn't happen.

(02:21):
And not only did not happen, but the dude just absolutely went off,
and quite frankly, it's a wakeup call for the team. I
think it's a wake up call.Hopefully they didn't need it, but if
they did need it, it wasa wake up call. Indeed, I've
talked to a couple of guys onthe team and there and they were like,
you know, we're gonna be betterafter this, And I completely agree

(02:45):
with that. The one thing Ido want to talk about though, Carson
Melvin getting some game reps. Hedid throw an interception, but it looked
like it was not exactly his falsekind of miscommunication. But at the same
time, I mean, just howwould you rate Carson Melvin's performance. I
mean, the position he was in. They were already down, so he

(03:07):
did a good job. You know, the interceptions on what you want,
but I mean he did a goodjob of for really his first time coming
in this he's in versus Brownsburg. And the one thing I will say with
Melvin when they brought him in,they were doing it mainly when they brought
him in around the second quarter. They did that to get a spark because
they were down twenty one nothing inthe first Jackson Gilbert. He wasn't playing

(03:30):
terribly. He was playing fine, but it wasn't enough. I'd feel like
for them, and they just wentahead and we're like, yeah, we
need to, you know, kindof get a spark in our offense.
And there were times where there wereflashes where Melvin got them into Brownsburg territory
once or twice and you're thinking, okay, okay, maybe we got something

(03:52):
going here. Probably not going tocome back, but you know, we
can take some momentum going into nextweek against Avon. But then Carson Melvin,
you know, he just had agood performance outside of that interception.
But you know, drives drives likethat, Like when we had momentum,
they would be stagnated by one falsestart penalties they were a factor. But

(04:17):
not only that, it was justyou know, the O line looked,
you know, it wasn't as goodas usual. They still I think they
still didn't a fine job, butthere were times where you know, they
had like Melvin or Gilbert had toget that ball out quick. But the

(04:41):
one thing I want I do wantto talk about now is Avon. I
want to talk about how they arewindless on the season. I mean,
just from watching this Avon team, what is like your main takeaway? We
got Will Holmes in the building.Yeah, Adrian cool, Okay, But

(05:02):
anyway, Callie, what was yourbiggest takeaway Wilhelms in the building, what
is your biggest takeaway? I guessfrom Avon this season? There haven't been
a good team all year. Justwhat has been like your main takeaway from
them? I Mean, they reallydon't have like they're not like really run

(05:23):
heavy, which we've seen lots ofteams. They're kind of pass heavy,
but they're kind of in the middleof bowls. So I think we've seen
like Brownsburg was really rush heavy. So I think that's something that I think
Westfield can use to their advantage.Yeah, absolutely, I mean, can
we get your take on this aswell? I mean, just what have
you seen from this Avon team,Like from watching tape and all that,

(05:47):
they're pretty good offensively, their defenseisn't great and they put up thirty on
Brownsburg, so I'm not gonna takthem Wiley and then I lost by eight
eight two fishers, So I mean, they're not that horrible of a team.
Like they're better than what the recordsays. So it can't take them
might Land. We gotta get thisone. And yeah, they are really
past heavy. Oh yeah, definitely. I mean, and it helps.

(06:11):
It helps when you have Western Michigancommit Mason Reynolds. Mason Reynolds look at
his stats from last week fifteen fortwenty four two hundred nineteen yards, didn't
throw a touchdown. Apparently it saysit's blank. I'm sure he did throw
one. He had an interception, though, and he ran the ball seven

(06:32):
times for thirty two yards. Imean, that's just what you get when
you have a guy like Mason Reynolds, you know, kind of that dual
threat. Just in your opinion withMason Reynolds, what do you see out
of him? Do you think atthe college level his level of I guess
I wouldn't say dominance, but hislevel of greatness could that be, you

(06:56):
know, sustained? I mean,I think I don't know what Western Michigan's
team looks like. I haven't reallywatched him, but I'm I think any
quarterback that has scale and can goto like it's Western Michigan. D Yeah,
they're like, I think his skillcan help with that. Yeah.

(07:18):
I think if he can succeed Iconstantly and not throw interceptions and not make
it easy easy mistakes, then Ithink he'll succeed at the next level.
Oh yeah, I absolutely agree withthat take. And so far on the
year, he's only thrown two interceptionseight touchdowns, and it says his completion

(07:41):
percentage on here is forty four percent. I don't know how accurate that is,
but that is not good. Thatis not only not good, that's
awful. Yeah, I mean whenwe're I'm pretty sure Westfield. All season
they've played guys above like every quarterbackthey've played. But to be fair,
they play a lot of run heavyteams, but they'll play a quarterback that

(08:05):
I think almost all of them,if I'm not mistaken, have over sixty
percent. Maybe not Gavin Neil fromnewpal but almost all of them have over
sixty percent. This is kind ofa change. And Avon, let's talk
about last week against Fishers. Fishers, quite frankly, they're a very good
team. I think offensively they area very good team. Yeah, and

(08:28):
like you said, only winning thatgame by eight against Avon, Avon,
I'm pretty sure they also lost aclose one to Franklin Central a couple of
weeks back. I mean, thisteam, they've been in close games.
They put up thirty against Brownsburg.Like you mentioned, they are way better
than what their record says. Imean, when you're owing six for a

(08:50):
live teams, you know, that'skind of like, you know that's what
it is. You know you're ownsix, you're a bad team. But
quite frankly, Avon, they're they'renot that, they're not that bad.
I still think there's room for improvementsquite a bit. But I don't think
Westfield could should take this lightly atall. I agree, we're not.

(09:16):
We're not taking it taking it lately. And I do want to ask you,
will, how is the team's mindsetchanged after last week? Vengeance?
That's our theme for the week.So I's gonna put all the pain on
Avon, even though they think it'sprobably their best chance to get a win,
because they think that we'll be down. It's just revenge game basically,

(09:39):
So we're gonna take all of itout on Avon. And yeah, obviously
we're down. Gilbert says, We'renot gonna be suking about it. We're
not gonna be thinking too much aboutit. We're gonna be like the perfect
like in the middle. So Ican't overthink it, can't take it lightly.

(10:00):
Oh yeah, I absolutely agree andI and I talked to coach Gilbert
the other day. It's gonna bein the Sports Joe hopefully coming out tonight
at five thirty. If the producersdecide that it should come out at five
thirty tonight. Well, I interviewedthe coach Gilbert. He said pretty much.
I asked him what went wrong, and he said about everything but at

(10:24):
the same time, at the sametime, there was a massive chip.
There's a massive chip on your shoulder. Coach Gilbert even said, even if
Avon didn't cause it, which theydidn't, there's still a massive chip on
your guys's shoulder. How has likejust practice in general been different than it

(10:45):
was when you guys were undefeated,Like, how has it changed? I'd
say, I mean it's somewhat differentbecause i mean Tuesday was more physical.
For sure. Tuesday was more physical. So yes, that was mainly the
only change. Yeah, I mean, it's just that loss. I'm sure

(11:11):
for coach at halftime, you dothe halftime interview with him. Cali.
I'm shocked that he actually spoke toyou because a couple of years, not
a couple of years ago, lastyear, Evan Cummings, former host of
the show Dear Friend, he wentand tried to interview Coach Gilbert. I
think it was after the No itwas the Noblesville Sectional yea, yeah,

(11:35):
yeah, and that was I thoughtit was Avon last year. That's what
you said, You're gonna go ourbutts. No, No, we were
living. No, no, wewere, and we were I'm pretty sure
we were up at halftime against Noblesvillein the sectional or we were down by
just a little bit. It wasn'ta blowout by any means. But no,
he refused to talk to Evan becauseof like the I guess he was,

(11:58):
you know, up about like somebad officiating. Possibly I think that
that was one thing. But no, he actually talked to you. I'm
shocked and he actually, I think, so just tell that story and just
how like just what a weird nightit was. I mean, it was
a weird night, Like they scored. I was on the sideline right when

(12:18):
Brownsburg scored, so it's like it'svery weird because you're on the Brownsburg sideline.
So but he was. He cameover and I said, and he
said, are you ready? AndI said yeah. And I really didn't
think I was gonna get it,but I did. And I interviewed him
and he said, basically, we'regetting our butts kicked and there's not much
adjustment as we can do. So, I mean, he was very honest

(12:41):
about that, and I think that'slike what makes him such a great coach
is he sees what's going on.Yeah, totally. And coach Gilbert,
I mean, he's a guy he'llHe'll say it like it is, and
quite frankly, I think that's agreat trait. He's not going to sugarcoat
anything, I think, and that'sthe best way for a team to grow.

(13:01):
And his culture, I have tosay his culture that he's brought to
Westfield and this team. And youcan back me up on this will if
you want. The culture he's broughtto this team has I guess, in
my opinion, from what I've seen, has made these guys on this team
not only better players, but bettermen in the future. Yeah, it's

(13:24):
yeah, that's one hundred percent right, and U are Mike. We also
our goal is to make great collegeplayers because we do it. We do
everything different than any other high schooland idiata and you can see it what
Dylan Thana Man, Max Webster wassand Yeah, they're all getting on the

(13:46):
field and they're on the ways.So yeah, now before we move on
to other sports, let's get ascore prediction. Let's start with anyone.
I don't care. I don't careanyone could give a score prediction, or
I'll start. I'm I'm gonna saythis one is going to be Westfield forty

(14:11):
five Avon three. Yeah, Imean that I know Avon's offense is good
and all that, but Westfield, this team is going to be the most
angry it's been in a long time. And I could and I totally see
Westfield just absolutely taking their anger outon Avon. And I think the run

(14:33):
game is going to be just unreal. I have a feeling Kendall Garnett.
He this is my hot take forthe game. Kendall Garnett will have over
two hundred rushing yards. That ismy hot take. So yeah, it's
anyone else's score prediction. I wasgonna go forty two, forty two twenty

(15:01):
eight. Okay, why such aclose game? Well, not a close
game necessarily, but why only afourteen fourteen point game? They probably square
like a touchdown way and uh,I'm gonna kind of go I'm gonna go
forty two fourteen all right? Sothey I think sometimes we struggle in the

(15:22):
first half a little bit. We'rea very second half team. So I
think if I think, but we'regonna have our mind right in the first
half of this game, yeah, absolutely, I mean because in the second
half, although a lot of it, like especially in the fourth quarter,
was JV guys on JV guys. You know, it was a we tied

(15:43):
them in the second half seven seven, and nobody scored in the fourth quarter.
We held them to zero points inthe fourth quarter. So I think
that's something to really, I guess, you know, take that they should
take with them and be encouraged about, possibly, especially especially those JV guys
who are going to be key playersnext year. When you know, big

(16:04):
time names like you know, MaxNosler, William Goodvine, just random seniors
I'm naming off are going to begone. You know, those JV guys
are going to be the key players. Now, let's talk about obviously the
main storyline in all Westfield Sports girlsgolf the state finals Friday and Saturday at

(16:30):
eight thirty am. Regional play. They were They finished second in the regionals
behind Carmel. I guess in thestate. In the state championship play,
I will give a hot take ornot really a hot take, but my
take, I think Westfield will definitelybe in the top three. I think

(16:52):
this is one of the better teamsthey've had since their last run to the
state finals or the last time theywere a runner up, which I think
was either twenty I think it wastwenty seventeen. That was the last time
they were state runner up. Ithink they definitely will make it back to
that point. I don't know ifthey win it. And Sam Brown,
I think she will be the secondShamrock to win individual state champion. That's

(17:18):
my take. I liked that take. Yeah, yeah, I agree with
that. Now. Also, bigweek for boys tennis coming up. Fucking
look here, oh yeah, theyhave they had sectional play at Noblesville or

(17:40):
they have sectional play at Noblesville startingyesterday and today. I'll have to check
the score on that. They playat Greenfield Central on Monday, and they
were playing at Noblesville. I'm tryingto think. I need to look it
up. Man, I need tocome more prepared. Alright, alright,

(18:04):
it's not loving. But anyway,it was a Noblesville sectional play, And
yeah, that's obviously a key storylineto keep up with Jack Deets that and
Gavin Deet's the Deets brothers. Itotally believe that they are going to do
great things with the tennis team.Quite frankly, I mean, they were

(18:26):
all conference last week, so Idefinitely see them. They're that dominance continuing
on those are my guys they're gonnalet it all. Oh yeah, and
now let's wrap it up with girlssoccer. The Sectional came out, the
Sectional draw came out there playing NorthCentral and girls soccer. I mean they

(18:49):
haven't lost all year. That's crazy. I mean they've they've tied a few,
they've tied a few games, butthey haven't lost all year. And
it's mainly because of Talio White soand how dominant she's been, especially coming
off a tour in ACL. Imean that's what really impresses me with her.
Yeah, that's really impressed, comingoff and ACL. Then leading your

(19:11):
team. Yeah, now let's getinto the Nash this, dude, Matthew.
But let's get into the national landscapeof sports. Big time trade happened
yesterday. Damian Lillard heading to Milwaukeein a three team trade. Lillard to

(19:33):
Milwaukee, Drew Holliday, DeAndre atAnd going to Portland. Then the use
of Nurkige, Nazira Little and KeianJohnson going to Phoenix. Big time trade.
What is your biggest takeaway from that, man? I mean, thank
to the Bucks. No wonder Isaw that one, so stop it.

(19:56):
I'm gonna go in there. I'mgoing to beat your suckin ass, dude.
That was my bad. Accidentally forgotthat it would do that again.
Now I'm playing Brom, I'm playingso yeah, I mean knowing song,
I'm going to the Bucks. That'sprobably one of the last dessinations. So
that was good for Pointling getting somegood value in Drew all Aiden. So

(20:21):
yeah, and they're gonna flip DrewHolliday. I'm sure that that's expected any
day now. Maybe it might evenhappen today. Drew Holiday might get flipped.
I expect it to be to Boston. You just get, you know,
possibly more draft capital, which Idon't know how I forget how much
draft capital Boston gave up to getPorzingis early on in the off season.

(20:41):
But quite frankly, yeah, Milwaukeebig time winner in my opinion, but
also Phoenix man just all the depththey got. I think I even said
it back when they got Bradley Beal, I'm like, they don't have enough
depth. They need to unload DeAndreAyton and get more death back. And
they sure got that. They gotGrayson Allen. I forgot to mention that
they got Grayson Allen, who wasa very good role player, dirty player

(21:04):
sure, but yeah, I meanKean Johnson good young role player as well,
and use of Nurkage maybe a hottake, not too much of a
down grade of DeAndre eight And quitefrankly, if if you if use of
Nurkage can stay healthy, then quitefrankly, that's a great deal for Phoenix

(21:25):
and they might be coming out ofthe West after that for sure. By
the front runner. Yeah, Ilike, I like Milwaukee, so I'm
I think that them and Phoenix arethey could be a good playoff runners.
I had twenty twenty one rematch rightthere, twenty twenty one finals rematch,
and by the way, that wasone of my favorite finals ever. Even

(21:45):
though it was like what fifty percentcapacity for the fans it was, it
was a weird time, but itwas one of my favorite finals. Jan
has had an incredible run, andnow he's Guy's co star. I mean,
he did have his co star, but he's got Damian Lillard, Chris
Middleton, He's getting up there inage. He had a pretty inefficient season

(22:06):
last year, but a man, this Milwaukee team, they could do something.
I think either them or Boston, especially if Boston gets through holiday,
that's gonna be very tight and I'mreally looking forward to seeing that. Yeah.
Now let's get into our final segment. It's called who Care is presented
by my logo Shop, and Iwant to talk about just the media in

(22:30):
general with this Taylor Swift and TravisKelsey. We're really doing this, Yeah,
we're really doing this. This wholething has been completely blown out of
proportion, this whole Taylor Swift andTravis Kelsey thing. I mean, people
are non stop talking about it,and it makes me want to go back
to the days where ESPN was talkingabout Dion and Colorado twenty four sevens that

(22:53):
you don't miss it. No,I mean if Colorado and ESPN is gonna
literally explode, oh, I know, it's like they don't. I don't
want what to do. But anyway, I mean, quite frankly, good
for Travis, good for Taylor, but I do not want to hear about
it. Twenty four seven, ESPNis going off on them. I saw

(23:18):
a post like about Travis's jersey salesgoing up four hundred percent, like every
woman in America wants his jersey? Now, yeah, what about you?
I actually don't. I'm I'm moreof a Jason Kelsey man. Good for
good for you, Good for you. Now, I think that's gonna wrap
up our podcast, Peace
