Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the heart of the city, where the beat meets
the rhythm of your day. It's Shawna and.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
What's up.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
You're listening to Shauna and La La. We are back
after a few weeks off. I have been in an
out of hospitals. Nobody knows what is going on with me.
Test after test and doctor after doctor.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, I can't believe it. It's like in this day
and age for doctors and nurses and tests not to
be able to pinpoint what is going on. It's just
it's it's absolutely crazy.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yeah, I just want to get down to the bottom
of it and find out what is wrong.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I think everyone would feel that way for you. I
feel so bad. I'd like watching you suffer and then watching,
you know, going to doctor's appointments with you sometimes and
these doctors are just just like flabbering, like I don't know,
I don't know, this is weird, I don't know. Nothing
makes sense. So it sucks when you have an illness,
especially when it's not something that you could see on
(01:09):
the outside or not something that's easily treated. That a
lot of times you suffer in silence and people don't
they don't or doctors don't know how to treat you,
but it sucks. And I hope that you can get
back to living a normal life and a healthier life
and not having to suffer like this.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah, you know they always say, you know, you have
to be your biggest advocate. Well you know me, Yeah, yeah,
I'm on the phone twenty times a day.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah, it's and that's the other crazy part is that
it shouldn't be that way. I mean, yes, you should
always have to advocate for yourself, but it shouldn't be
this way that you're chasing doctors down, You're chasing nurses down,
You're chasing this down. I know doctors are busy, I know,
I get it, but you went to this profession. There
has to be a system where let's not have the
(01:58):
patient chasing us down for a week, a months, a month.
That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yeah, we're not even going to get into the endophrenologist.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah yeah. Months. That's all I'm gonna say is months.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
It is absolutely insane. This healthcare system and what it
was when I was little versus now, it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah. I know, you know, I understand being in six
since I was little too. It's just advocate for yourself,
do your own research. Doctors are smart, but they don't
know everything, and a lot of times you can figure
things out for yourself. You can diagnose yourself more than
a doctor can at times. And I've done it, You've
(02:42):
done it, and now chat GBT seems to be doing
that for people. I just saw an article on that,
and that's crazy. Did you see that?
Speaker 1 (02:49):
I didn't see it, but I have, you know, typed
in different symptoms and it came up that I had
gas stritis and then I had my colonof could be
and I had gas stritis. Mm hmm, so chat GBT
was correct. But it's just it's insane.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
That's gonna be the future that they're not gonna be
real doctors. It's gonna be chat GBT diagnosing you. It's
like typing your symptoms and then you know, because they
are they're spot on. It is spot on whatever it
is a thing. But yeah, it's it's a good tool
right now for us because we can go to our
doctors and say, hey, you weren't giving me the answers.
(03:32):
This is what I found, and you know, then they
could take that and run with it and do it,
you know, treat you hopefully.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
But yeah, It's just crazy to me that all my
tests except for the astro virus, but all of my
tests came back negative.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Jeez, I know that it's shocking. It's absolutely shocking.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
So the weight continues.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, and hopefully we can get back on track with
the show and hopefully show on it feels better and
we can you know, give you, guys the stuff that
you've been missing.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Mother's Day is around the corner and you're going away.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, I'm gonna be in Bermuda for Mother's Day, So
I'm really excited about that. I tend to I realize
I tend to go on vacation a lot during Mother's Day,
which is great for me, but it's usually packed, so
it's probably not a good time to go on vacation
because everyone's thinking the same thing, like let's treat mom.
But yeah, that's a nice Mother's Day to be in
Bermuda and buy the ocean or buy a pool or
(04:30):
in the heat. And I'm just with the I feel
like this year has been really just really overwhelming for me,
so I'm really looking forward to it.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
So you're going on a cruise. Are you going to
be on the boat for Mother's Day or are you
going to be out of beach.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I'm gonna be on the beach, So I'm like really
excited about that because you know, this is my favorite
thing ever. So I'm gonna go to the beach, go
to a nice restaurant. Should be a fun day and
better than being in cool New York even though weather's
been nice. But I think it's gonna rain the whole
time I'm gone, So I'm sorry, Seanna.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Oh great. Well, speaking of Mother's Day and getting away,
we are reviewing a bunch of products and one I mean,
you are going why so I hope you packed your
cupsh bathing suit.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yes I did, and I you know, Cups she has
been around for a while. And it's funny because when
it first came out, I was like thinking it was
some sort of Sheen type, you know company, and I'm like, eh,
I'm not gonna order from there. And then my friend
had a cup she bathing suit and it was absolutely amazing.
It was the quality of it was just like I'm like,
(05:41):
this is from where, you know? And then Cole started
selling it. Yeah, and this is a big deal. You know,
you're in Cole's Jesse James Decker this is the line
that we we love Jesse James Decker number one. So
she has some bathing suits on there, and they sent
us one. It's a beautiful bikini. It reminds me of
like a Mediterranean like has a Mediterranean flair, and I
(06:03):
can't wait to show you, guys. But it's absolutely gorgeous.
And what I love is I mean, I don't know
if it's like a love hate relationship with their website
because there's so many options on there, Oh my god,
so many. I couldn't even get through all the pages
of bathing suits that I just gave up. I'm like,
too many options. I kind of felt like when I
go to cheesecake Factory and I'm in that big menu
(06:24):
and I'm like, oh my god, I don't even know.
Everything looks amazing. So cup she has a bathing suit
for everybody, everyone, any style. It's like so many different things.
And I love that about them and that we're all
about that, you know, something for everybody, every and every
body literally.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
You know, Yeah, and that is kind of like what
they stand for. But it's the truth, and I love them.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I have a few of their bathing suits and I've
been ordering from them for years.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
They're the dresses, the sun dresses. I bought two of
them for my vacation because and I had more on
my cart. I was gonna go broke. I had like
seven dresses in there. I had four bathing suits, and
I'm like, I just need a chill because I'm spending
way too much money. But there's just I couldn't choose,
you know, so I had to pick my two favorite ones,
I asked my husband. But yeah, guys, Mom's like they
(07:22):
will love this. Anything from that website, they will love.
Go on there, pick them out something or have them
pick it out. Say hey, I'm taking you on a
shopping spree. Not into a physical store, but here, go
on this website and pick something. And that would be
an amazing gift. Like if my son or my husband
said that to me, gave me like a budget, oh
my god, I would go crazy. But what a perfect
Mother's Day gift?
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Right? Would he do that? That's a good idea.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I don't know. I mean maybe he likes not. I
you know, my husband likes to pick stuff out for me.
He finds it more personal. He's really good with that.
He's really good with gift giving. I got very lucky.
His mom raised them right with that. But yeah, he
probably like, no, I want to pick something, and it
means more than me if I pick it. But yeah,
I could probably ask and he would, you know, say.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
All right, does he have good taste? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
He has really good taste. I've pretty much loved everything
he's ever bought me. You know, some I think there
was like a couple of things I was like, eh,
but most for the most part, Yeah, he has good taste.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
You're lucky.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, And I got to go with my bathing suit.
Kuru sent me these really cool sandals. They they gave
me like early two thousands kind of vibe. They were
the big chunky platform heels with the wave kind of
yeah on the bottom. They are so comfortable, Like I
(08:43):
I liked them when I saw him on the website
and I'm like, am I too old for this? Is
it going to be uncomfortable? They were so.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Comfortable and that style is coming back.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
I know, and that's why I'm happy I got them.
I like, I can wear them with my with shorts,
I can wear them with my jeans and they go perfect.
So you know, I took some pitchers in them in
my Jessica Simpson jeans and their comfy and they have
this technology for their heel. They have this special patented
heel in all of their shoes and I don't know
(09:12):
how to describe it, but it kind of just like
cups around your heel in the perfect way that it
supports you, but it's giving you. You know, it's comfortable
and it's protecting your heel, and it really it does
make a difference, especially in a shoe that high. I
didn't even feel I didn't feel like I was standing
in a chunky platform type heel. It was so comfortable.
(09:34):
I can't say enough about it. And I've gotten shoes
from them before. They're high quality. They still I think
I've had Crew for four years now. I take my boots,
I wear on them in the winter and they still
look brand new, like they are made to last and
they're made for comfort.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
They look comfortable.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Actually, yeah, you should see how your heel fits in them.
It's crazy. All their shoes are like that.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
It's like I wish they had my size.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
I know, I know. And I was talking about my
jeans and I wore my Kuru sandals and they were
Jessica Simpson jeans, and guys, the wide leg is coming back,
and the flare.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
I'm so excited.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
I know you are. I wasn't. I used to love
wide legs back and I think I was fifth grade.
Fifth grade. I feel so old.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Like the jeans.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
I didn't wear the Jenkos, those are too big, but
I had the like the wide legs jean boots.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
The boot cuts a little bit.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Wider than that, but yeah, the boot it was like
a little wider, like I felt like a tomboy, like
when I look back at pictures, I look like a tomboy.
And I wore those. And then I went to flares
and I felt so cool my flares, and then it
took me a long time to stop wearing flares. And
then I got into the new style of the skinny jeans,
and I love my skinny jeans now. And now that
(10:46):
I'm finally loving my skinny jeans now, flares are back
and wide legs and I'm like, I don't know, I
don't know if I But where I'm going with the
story is I Jessica Simpson. They sent me these wide
leg jeans and I was hesitant, but I put them
on and they look so good. They really looked so
(11:07):
good on me, and I'm like, all right, right, maybe
maybe I could I could swing this, maybe I could
look good in this stuff again, you know. But they
were really comfortable. They such a thick quality jean, but
I still could move in them, so they were flexible
but high quality. It didn't feel like thin material, didn't
feel like it's not gonna last. It's like her jeans,
(11:29):
you know, they're gonna last me years. So I loved it,
and I paired it with a lace top from Jessica
Simpson line. It has these roughly sleeves that go kind
of they're loose around your hands, and it just like
it's not fancy, but you know, it is a little
fancy that you could wear them out to dinner and
it looked really great. And I love that Jessica Simpson
(11:50):
has her clothing line of Walmart right now, because Walmart
used to have crappy clothes.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah when you said that, remember we went shopping. Yeah,
I couldn't believe that she has her line in Walmart. Yeah,
it used to be in like Cole's and Macy's and
I just can't believe it. And her stuff is like
it's still even though as much as I washed my
shirt that I got from her, it's still like in
(12:18):
good shape.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Mm hmm. That's a lot of these clothing lines today.
They're not made to last past one or two washes,
and they don't last past one or two washes. So
when you find a clothing brand that is reasonably priced,
it's beautiful or it's fashionable, and it's lasting multiple multiple
washes and still looking good, that's like, that's a win.
(12:42):
That is a win. And I love that it's in
Walmart because I always shop at Walmart, and the clothing
line there is getting just cuter and cuter, and I
love that. I love that they're finally doing that, you know,
like that was always a Target thing and but Walmart never, never,
But now I love going to the Walmart clothing section
and Jessica Simpson's line is like my absolute favorite.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
So my add brain is going, how's the squirrel?
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Oh my god? Yeah, I mean I had two squirrels,
baby squirrels. As you know, I'm a New York State rehabber,
so I've been trying not to take on any more
animals the last two years. It's just it's just been
too overwhelming for me.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Not only that it's emotional.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
It's very emotional. I get very emotional with these animals,
and even if I've only had them for one day,
I will ball if they don't make it, you know.
And so I finally took on these two baby squirrels
because I kept telling the lady now and she was
begging me. She's like, they're dying, and the other the
siblings died, the three other ones. So I'm like, I
have to do something, and I didn't want to tell
(13:42):
my husband because my husband is not a big animal person.
Number one and number two, like I had told them,
I was done taking in squirrels, especially because we had
at one point we had eight squirrels, baby squirrels, and
I called them the zombie squirrels because at feeding time
they were just like zombies in a movie, just all
attacking me to try to get the bottle and they
(14:03):
would all at once like so they destroyed our office
because I kept them in a cage there and I'd
let them run around. They destroyed the office. It smelt
so yeah. My husband was not not wanting that ever again.
So when I got the squirrels, I'm like, I have
to hide them. So I told Sean. I'm like, I
gotta hide these her mic and she's like, how are
you gonna hide them from your husband? I'm like, they're tiny,
(14:25):
they're so young that they're not moving around. They had
to be bottle fed, their eyes were kind of closed.
I'm like, he won't know. I'll keep them for a
few days until I could find another rehabber to take them. Well,
I kept them, i think for two days without him knowing. Yeah,
And I hid them in the bathroom, the guest bathroom,
in a little basket because I had to go outside
(14:45):
with my son and we didn't know that my daughter
Julina had saw or had a feeling that they were
in there. So me and my son are outside collecting
the toys and my husband's laying in bed relaxing, and
all of a sudden, me and Geo here my husband's screaming,
like screaming.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (15:05):
What is it? What is it? And I didn't even
think like it could be the squirrels. I'm like, oh
my god, something happened. So we run in the house
and she goes like, what's wrong, what's wrong? And my
husband is standing there with the basket of the squirrels.
Holding it out, going what is it?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
What is this?
Speaker 2 (15:21):
What is this?
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Like?
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Whatever he was saying, I can't remember. He was freaking
the f out, like freaking out, and I just stared
at him because I'm like, is he really this petrified?
He was petrified. I'm not saying he was mad. He
was petrified.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
I said, he didn't look in the basket.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
No, he got so scared. So the story is Jelena.
I look back at the camera footage. You see Jelina
run into the bathroom after we leave. She takes the
squirrel basket with the squirrels in it, and she runs
into my room where Mike is laying and she said
to him. I asked him what she said. She said, Daddy,
look how cute? And he thought because it's an Easter basket.
(15:59):
Mike thought that Jelina was saying, Oh, look how cute
my basket is. And he said, oh, yeah, yeah, and
she's not. She's like, no, look how cute inside, And
he said he thought she had like toys in there
or candy. So, as he's watching TV, he said, he
put his hand in the basket and he felt warm,
like warmth first off, and like something furry, and he
(16:21):
said he thought it was a snake, but I think
he felt the I had like a rice, a sock
filled with rice in there that I heat up to
like keep them warm. So when he must have felt
that first and like the feeling of the rice, he said,
it felt like a snake. And then he like his
hand moved over it and he felt the fur of
the squirrel, and he just thought. He didn't know what
to think. He said, snake, He thought rat. Maybe a
(16:42):
rat got into her Easter basket and was eating candy.
And he just freaked out, like he was having a
panic attack. So I have a home video. We'll have
to share it because it was so funny, like from
my security footage. He was freaking out, and then I
finally got him to calm down, and he's like, how
long have you had them? Only if you had them,
it's like on like two days. He's like, and you
didn't tell me. I said no, because I know you
(17:03):
don't want them here. I was trying to find a
home for them. He'said, Jesus Christ, you should have told me.
That scared the shit out of me. Leave it to Jelina.
I was like, thanks, Jelina, thank you. I wonder how
long I could have hit them from him?
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Did she know what was going on? Like, did she understand?
Speaker 2 (17:20):
She just kept saying, Daddy, no, scared, don't be scared, daddy.
They're cute, and he's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, but he's fine,
he's fine. It's just it was just the initial not
knowing what he thought there was a rat in the
house or something. So it was funny. It was pretty
funny though, and when I played it back for him,
he started cracking up at himself. He's like, oh my god, well, yeah,
(17:44):
so the one unfortunately, the one little squirrel she passed
away in show on his house. I tried everything to
save her, and I was crying a lot, like in
the morning because I knew she was going. And that's
what the sad part about rehabbing is, like it comes
with some highs. There's a lot of loaves because sometimes
we get these animals when they're at the end of
the stage, like there's no helping them, but you try
(18:06):
and make them comfortable and you try your best, and
it breaks my heart every time. And that's why I like,
I really don't want to do it anymore for that
I can't handle it.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
I don't know how you do it. I wouldn't be
able to handle it either. Yeah, I mean I can't
handle it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
I didn't want to tell her. I was like when
I went to his cage. I was at her house
hanging out yesterday and I saw that the one had passed,
and I'm like, I'm not gonna tell Shana because she's
gonna get too upset. And I just turned around and
she like looked at my face and she goes, it's dead,
isn't it? Or whatever? Whatever you said?
Speaker 1 (18:37):
She died, she died, didn't she.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
I'm like, how do you know? So I had to
tell her, but it was written all over my face.
I can't hide my emotions, I guess. So yeah, I
mean I guess I added on two new, two more
tasks in my very crazy, hectic life of taking care
of these little babies. So yeah, I deserve a nice
Mother's Day definitely for all that I do every day
(19:02):
taking care of the between the animals, the frickin' chickens,
my husband, my son, my daughter, everybody in my life.
It's like I am losing my mind.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
I forgot you had the chickens.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Oh yeah, I have chickens, and the deer. The deer
is still there, and she's annoying in her own way.
She's always like, no matter what you're doing outside, she's
sniffing your butt, she's chewing on your arms. She's just
getting in the way of everything.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
So how's her babies.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
They're good. They're two little bucks and they don't come
near us, which is great. I don't want them to.
But they're always with her. She's a very good mom.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
It's crazy how nature just knows how to do things
because I did not teach her. She did not have
a mom. I was her mom, so she had a
human mom. And then when she had these twins, I
was like kind of worried, Like deer learned from each
other usually for many things, some things are ingreened and
them something's come, you know, just naturally. But I was wondering, like, hmm,
(19:58):
is she gonna know how to take care of them?
Is she going to you know, breastfeed them like or
is she gonna like kick them, you know, not feed
them and abandon them. But she did everything amazing and
they're still they're almos going to be a year old
actually in I think they were born the end of
may or in June last year. So they're gonna be
a year old and she's she's such a good mommy.
(20:19):
They're still with her.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, you definitely seemed overwhelmed.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I'm so overwhelmed. I'm just like, I just have too
much in my life.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Speaking of being overwhelmed, I know you have trouble sleeping.
You're taking We got something for you from Goodness Lover.
It's mag biotic and it's a pill to kind of
help you sleep.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Sleep, relax, a whole bunch of things. Because I thought
it was just for sleeping, but it's it's not like
it helps in so many other ways. It helps your
memory in a way because it has it helps reduce stress,
which yes, then in turn and helps you have a
better sleep if you're not as stressed you know what
I mean, and anxiety. So it has ingredients in there
(21:06):
that help calm your nerves. It helps to lift your
mood and put you in a good mood, and it
helps you sleep. And I love that it has these.
It's like psychobiotics, so it's you know, probiotics are for
your stomach. This is still good for your stomach, Like
it gives you some good gut biome, but they have
these probatics basically for your brain, and which I've never
(21:27):
taken anything like that, So it's gonna help me with clarity,
which I need. You know that I forget everything. Oh yeah,
So it's gonna support like a good gut brain connection.
And also, like I said, it helps the intestinal flora,
so it's like a regular probatic also. But all these
ingredients mixed together have been amazing for me. And I'm
not even lying, like I took a video like to
(21:49):
show you guys. I have used it every single day
for almost a month now, and I'm getting depressed because
I'm running out, so I'm gonna have to order more.
And it has made a world of af diference for me. Now,
am I sleeping one hundred percent better? No, but I'm
sleeping eighty percent better, which is amazing for me because
I used to not sleep at all, or I'd sleep
(22:11):
only two hours a night. Now I'm getting about six
hours straight of sleeping, which is a big improvement for me.
So I'm hoping the more I take these, I can
get past that and get to my full eight hours.
But it's definitely made a world of difference, and I
highly recommend them, even you know mother's days coming up,
I say, this is something great. Moms are overwhelmed. Moms
(22:32):
are stressed out, we have too much on our plate,
we are anxious, we have just too much to think about,
and we get that brain fog. So this is something
that every mom should have and I would highly suggest it.
And it's a goodness lover dot com. It's called Magbiotic. Again,
I would really yeah, try it out. You're gonna love it.
(22:53):
Like give it a month, and I saw a difference
within a few days, So you'll notice a difference. Pretty
sure that you'll notice the difference right away. I know
everyone's different, but for me it was like maybe two
days that that's amazing. And alongside with the Magbiotic, I
am also using the clear light red light therapy and
(23:15):
that has been beneficial to me too. So I started
the magnetic before that, and I saw the difference. Now
that I've added the clear light red light, it's like
the small personal tower. I put that right next to
my bed and every night it's like my non negotiables.
I take my magbiotic, I turn on my red light
and I just relax with that and it helps me
(23:36):
sleep so much better. And red light therapy is just
blowing up all over the place. It's amazing. It's so
good for you. It helps your mood, it helps your sleep,
it helps feeling, it helps your skin. So there's so
many benefits to it, right.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah, I've tried it. I did try the clear light
at your house a few times for my stomach, and
I notice that it kind of like relaxed me. Yeah,
and it kind of like relaxed my muscles, relaxed my mindset.
And I think that's what I needed because I've just
(24:11):
been thinking like, oh my god, my stomach, my stomach,
and it really does help.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
No, one hundred percent. Like I've noticed a difference with
that too. So these are all things that mom needs. Okay,
we don't need flowers, I mean they're nice. We don't
need a box of chocolates. We need things to help
with our stress levels, to help with our sleep, to
help with our brain fog. And I'm telling you, guys,
this is stuff that you should be getting mom or
(24:36):
getting for yourself because we all need a little help
and we need better sleep.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
