Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the heart of the city, where the beat meets
the rhythm of your day.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
It's Shawna m.

Speaker 3 (00:14):

Speaker 1 (00:28):
And check me out at Bella Underscore Lala at one
two five.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
We've been m I A for a few weeks, both
of us, actually, I think the whole family, like my family,
your family, we've all been sick.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
I feel like that's every week that we've been recording
as someone sick. It's been a horrible year.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
It really has. Me and Geo actually ended up in
the er. Yep, I ended up in the er Friday.
I have been so sick. I thought I had a
stomach bug, but it ended up being we think a
GI infection and a UTI and Geo they're not sure
what's going on with him.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
No, they it was Severe's stomach pains to the point
where I thought it was a pendicitis because he was
screaming and rolling around on the floor, and they think
it might be either he's another allergy has popped up
because he had anchovies right before this happened, or you know,
trapped gas. But we're going back to the doctor next week.

(01:29):
And they tested him for everything and it all came
back okay. I don't know. I don't know what's going on, guys,
but I'm ready for it to be over.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Me too. They tested me for everything under the sun.
And I went to the doctors on Thursday and they
did blood work and everything came back fine. I go
to the er. Blood work comes back fine, you know.
Then they decided to do other tests and other blood work,
and that blood work and the other tests didn't not

(02:00):
come back fine. So it just makes me think that,
you know, if I went to since I went to
my regular doctor, they would have never found this.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
No. No, And you can get sepsis, you can a
lot of things. It spread the infection. That's really bad.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
I think it did. I think this has been brewing
since I went to Florida, because when I was in Florida,
I had this pretty much similar symptoms, not as bad,
but with the throwing up and the diarrhea I had
that it seemed pretty much when I almost threw up
in the restaurant yeah, so I think it's been brewing

(02:36):
for quite some time, and yeah, they just didn't figure
it out.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
It's scary that blood work doesn't pick up on everything.
So you always have to advocate for yourself and say,
all right, I know my blood work looks okay, but
something's not right. What other tests can we do here?
And just like in Shota's case, her red blood count,
her white blood count was fine, but in the other
tests it was she had an infection. So you cannot

(03:04):
always trust that the blood work that's gonna say that, hey,
you have an infection or you don't. You know, you
really got to advocate for yourself.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Which is crazy to me. I just don't understand how
in one set of blood work it's it was fine,
and then the next set of blood work and tests
it wasn't, you know, like within I don't know, they
drew the same blood work at the same time, they
drew like six or seven viols.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
And that that last blood work the white blood count
and red blood count was high or was it normal? No,
it was normal, Okay, So that's what I'm saying. Your
blood work showed you were normal, no signs of infection. No, yeah, no,
But you're urine sample showed yes, infection.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
That did. And then a different panel that they ran
a b MP I think it's cold mm hmm that
whatever that test for came back abnormal.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Okay, yeah, it's crazy. So yeah, that's why tell people
just don't always trust that, Oh, your blood work's fine,
you're fine. We all know when something's going on with us,
and it's it's hard because doctors believe they know best
a lot of times, and they're so they're so focused
on your blood work sometimes that they stop treating your

(04:17):
symptoms and they just kind of just go, well, the
blood work's fine, you're fine. You know, it's scary, it's
really scary.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Which is what the hospital said too.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Yeah, and then they decided, all right, let's run more
tests because clearly I was all swollen and something was
going on.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yeah, And I mean a similar story was with Geo
a few months ago.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
He had the same thing.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Well, he had severe stomach pain, throwing up fever, and
we're like, oh, it's probably a stomach bug. But then
when it continued and he couldn't even walk and his
fevers were like one hundred and five, they took him
to the emergency room in laws, and the emergency room said,
he's fine, he's fine. His blood work you know, I
don't even know if they did blood work, right.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
They didn't, because remember you were with me. We were
at the Apple store getting your computer fests and they
they called you to talk to you, and you said,
can you do blood work? And they said you need
to go to his doctor for that.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, the emergency room would not do blood work on
my child who's in there with high fevers. Then they're like,
it's probably just the virus. It's it's just the stomach bug.
I was so livid, like, I'm paying all this money
for him to be in that er.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
You're gonna charge me.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
You're gonna charge me five hundred dollars for this right,
but you're not gonna do a single test. It's absolute bs.
So I took him to Urgent Care after that, and
Urgent Care ran every test under the sun for me.
They some I asked for and some they did on
their own. Stool test, blood tests, IVY. They gave him
bag of IV because he was dehydrated. He turned out

(05:49):
to have a very rare parasite bacteria in him. Called
I can't I can never pronounce it like, can't be bacterium,
and it's like food poisoning and it could be deadly.
So if I just trusted the hospital and was like,
all right, it's just a virus and didn't take him
the urgent care, who knows what could have happened to him.
So this is what I'm talking about, Like we cannot

(06:11):
always just trust these doctors in these hospitals, and we
have to go with our gut. And I knew something
was wrong with my child and it wasn't just a
stomach bug, and you have to just push because I pushed.
I said I want a stool sample done. Something's not right,
and they did everything and it was great. So yeah,
advocate for yourself, for your children, for your family, and
don't just trust what the doctors say.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
You have to these days, and I learned my lesson.
I learned not to hold off because I waited five days,
well four days, but I had to go for blood
work and I just you know, told the doctor, hey, listen,
this is how I'm feeling. Can you just run some
extra blood work? But yeah, that was bad. I don't

(06:54):
wish a GI infection or a UTI on my worst
enemy oh, I've never had one before and I don't
ever ever want one ever again.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Let's hope you never get one again.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
So shout out to Garnet emergency Room, who we actually
donate to all the time. We donate to their pediatric unit.
But the er took really good care of me. I
was there for seven hours, unfortunately, but it actually the
time went by pretty quickly once I got back there,
like I was busy, you know, like it really wasn't

(07:30):
a lot of downtime. But their urgent care not good.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
No, no, a waste, a waste of your life. Their
urgent care that I don't even know why they are
an urgent care if they can't do anything.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
They couldn't do body, They couldn't do blood work. They
did a P test, but they threw that away, and
they did another test and they threw that away. They
don't do blood work, they don't do ultrasounds, they don't
do cat scans. They send you to the er. So
I don't know why they're an urgent care.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
To the point of them, you better check your insurance
because I guarantee they will charge you that they did
a P test, that they did a swab, that they
did whatever they did, the little that they did, they're
gonna charge you and you have to call and say nope,
they threw it in the garbage.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
So who do I call?

Speaker 1 (08:17):
I'm saying, I'd say your insurance company? Like do you
do you get the explanation of benefits? And like what
you Yeah? So when you see your EOB check for
the urgent care like mine comes, it'll say where I
went and then see what they charged you for? I yeah,
And then complain and say they didn't they did crap
for me, and try, you know, try not to get that.

(08:41):
It's it's it's a it's a crime. But I'm glad
you're doing a little bit better. My son's doing better.
And as we say, we've been saying the past few months,
hopefully this is the end of the sicknesses and let's
enjoy our spring and summer.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
But you never know, no, you never know. But Easter
is coming up. I can't believe it's only like what
three weeks away?

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Yeah, it's And we were just talking today why does
Easter move? So it's so drastic how it moves around
at the calendar. There has to be some explanation for it.
But a few years ago or last year Easter was
today right or yesterday.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
It was March thirty first, March thirty.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
First, and now this year it's April twenty something, So
why what what?

Speaker 3 (09:28):
I don't understand what I don't know. I don't get it.
Do the kids get a spring break?

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yes, April twentieth is Easter, and yeah, the kids are off,
But how how is there like a three week difference
from last year or the year before or whatever it was.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I don't know. I don't get it. It's crazy to make.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
We're gonna have to look this up or chat GBT it. Yeah,
it's probably something that I probably know, but I don't know.
I don't know. But yeah, then getting the kids stuff
out there, we are trying to get some cool products
for the kids for spring and Easter coming up. And
we were sent Good Pop I don't know if you've
heard of them, but I am all about natural, organic,

(10:11):
healthier versions of anything food treats. And this is the
first ice cream that they sent us ice cream and
it was the Mickey Mouse ice cream that Julina picked out.
She loved it, and it's non dairy. I could not
believe it. I'm like, this is gonna taste gross. You know,
I didn't tell her this, but I'm like, this is
gonna taste gross.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
She ate it.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
She loved it. So I took a bite and I
couldn't even tell that it wasn't real ice cream, like
real milk. No, it was coconut milk, and it didn't
taste like coconut. It tastes like ice cream. I could
not believe it, which is weird to me. Yeah, it
tasted so good. It had the chocolate shell on the outside.
She ate the whole thing besides my bite, and it

(10:54):
was so yummy. And so that was the non dairy
I think it's vegan. I don't want to say if
it's not, but it was the non dairy version. So
that helps anyone out there who has dairy intolerance or
their their vegans. And then they also sent us their
cookies and cream regular ice cream, and this is grass
fed and organic, and I'm big on that, Like, if

(11:14):
you're gonna have milk or dairy products or even meat,
look for grass fed. It's the best that you're gonna get,
especially if it's organic. So this ice cream had both
of those. So it was real dairy, organic, grass fed,
and it was absolutely delicious. I ate. I'm not a
big sweet tooth, but I ate the whole thing. So
it was good. But they have a ton a ton

(11:36):
of options on their website if you go to good
pop dot com, tons of different flavors. They have ice pops,
and they're all going to be without the dyes, without
the crazy high sugars. They have the dairy free, they
have the organic. There's just so many options so and
you can order them right on there, which I love.
And I'm hoping that they start coming to more of

(11:57):
our local grocery stores because I I would love for
people to steer their kids towards these products versus the
other crap that's out there. And we loved it. So
these are good Easter and springtreet and summer's coming, especially summer.
But hey, stock up now, order them and get them
stocked up.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
So I meant to ask you, since we were all
at our own houses for the last three weeks, how's
potty training going?

Speaker 1 (12:24):
It's going? This child is so difficult. I don't remember
having this many issues with my son, even though they
say boys are harder. But Julina is just not about it.
She Pea's in the toilet. Fine, she'll tell us when
like yesterday, me and Sean are at a restaurant and
in the middle of eating, she's like, I gotta go
to potty, and she we took her. You know, she
went to the bathroom. So she's good with peeing, but

(12:46):
she doesn't go poop. So that's that's a struggle right now.
But what's made potty training easier for me is be
Miss sent us the most amazing little training toilet seat.
It's called the Next Step two and what it is
is like it's a regular toilet seat, but in the
center is a tiny little toilet seat that fits their

(13:08):
little toddler butts and that can be lifted and put
down when the toddler needs it. And I love this
because I hate those little portable seats with you knows
the foam up top. It has like characters on it,
and the kids could put it on there or whatever,
but they get so dirty and you can't clean them
really good because it's the foam, and underneath it just

(13:30):
has all these nooks and crannies that it's hard to clean.
And Jolina was having a hard time when she, you know,
because toddler's hold it to the last second, and then
when she had to go, she was running in the
bathroom trying to get down her pants, then trying to
get the toilet seat to put it on the toilet,
and by the time she got a little butt up there,
you know, she sometimes had an accident. So I love
with beatus. She just walks in, she puts her little

(13:52):
seat down, it's already there, just plops it down and
then she can get up there and she doesn't fall in.
She feels secure and safe. And that's another thing that
was scaring her is that she on the big potty.
You know, the kids feel like they're gonna fall in
the hole. So I just love this. And it has
the magnetic button in it so that when the toddler
puts it up there or a parent, it sticks. It's

(14:13):
not gonna fall and crash on them, and then it's
easy to come back down. So absolutely amazing toilet seat.
I highly recommend it if you have little ones in
your house or your potty training. Even when she's done
potty training, this is going to be amazing for her
to just not feel like she's gonna pull on the toilet.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
And it was easy to put on the toilet. You
and her, Actually, yeah, me and Jelina installed it.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I got I've had this toilet seat for a couple
of months now, and I kept asking my husband, can
you put it on? Can you install it? Can? And
you know how that goes? So man, Yeah, I was like,
you know what, I'm doing this and I started doing it.
Julia's like, can I help. I was like, yeah, go ahead, honey,
you know, I'm showing her. Let's be independent. We could
do this, and uh, we did it. We put it

(14:55):
in and it was super easy. It really, I'm not longing.
It was so easy. It was like one, two, three.
So highly recommend it.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
And speaking of men, you've been asking your husband to
put your canoli cart together for at least two months now.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Yeah, two months or maybe three? Maybe two? Yeah. I
on the side, guys, I have a cannolium past the business,
and I wanted to create this cart that I could
take to parties and rent out for making cannolis. And
I bought all this stuff. We went to Low's and
Home Depot. We bought everything we needed and it's been

(15:34):
all the wood's been sitting in the garage for two months.
So last week he finally was like, I said, can
you do work in my cart this weekend? He's like, okay,
So we cut all the shapes that were needed, but
that's as far as it's gone. And then this weekend
I was like, oh, can you finish working on my cart?

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah, yeah. So I'm doing stuff in the house, cleaning this,
this and that, and I see him come in the
house and he's measuring things in the laundry room, going
back to the garage, measuring things going back to the garage.
I'm like, what is he doing? Is he gonna put
my canoli cart in the laundry room? Like what's he doing?

Speaker 2 (16:12):
And I go out there and this freaking man took
all the scrap wood from my canoli cart and started
building a bench for the laundry room. And it was
screwed together. Everything he made the holes. It was like,
you know, it was a lot of work making all
those cuts. So instead of finishing my cart, he created

(16:32):
a whole new project that because he wanted it, and
he made a bench for the laundry room and it's
almost done, and I'm like, what about my cart? Oh well, yeah,
you know, yeah, I'll get to that. I'll get to
that next. No, I wanted it done now, you know,
like these.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Freaking men, I can't. I just can't.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
I would have been like, what are you doing?

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Like I know, and it's not.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
And he's like, although you wanted a bench in here, Yes,
I did want a bension here, but was now like
a good time for that? When you're supposed to be
building me a cart, It's not time to build the
laundroom bench now, like I asked for that last year.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
I you know, you could have did it last year,
or you could do it.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
After my cart, but so, oh god, I'm not looking
to fight because I can't make it without him. This
is something I mean, I probably could. I shouldn't say that.
I could probably do it if I watch YouTube videos,
but you could do it. It's it's a lot, it is,
it's a lot. But yeah, I really want him to
just do it because it'll be much faster and I
want to get this going.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
See, if my mom didn't have surgery, I would have
volunteered her because she is like a man. She could
build yeah, two different things. Yep, I would volunteer, but
she just had surgery, so.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
I know, I know, let's let's see this weekend coming.
We'll see if it rains, that's gonna be the next
excuse it's raining.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
You know, I would say bring it into the living room.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Bring it in little in your room, yeah, or bring
it into the garage. Yeah, it is he but when
he makes the cuts, he likes to do it out
and the driveway so doesn't make a mess and it's
more room to work, which I get. But oh my god.
I we'll see. We'll see how this weekend goes, if
I have a cart or not.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
He blamed it on me not buying the wheels for it,
because it has to have wheels for you to move it. Yeah,
I said, Mike, the wheels are not holding up the
build like they're not holding it up. You could build
the whole cart and the last second week you go, oh,
let's put the wheels on. That was his that was
his reasoning, Like, you didn't get the wheels for it yet. Well,
you know, I spent a lot of money on everything else,

(18:38):
and the wheels were on Amazon, and I'm like, oh,
they're not at home depot. I'll order that when it
gets more more finished with the cart. But yeah, that
was his excuse.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
So you know what I would do is I would
go on Amazon and yeah, and that the wheels are here.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Let's go chop chop. What's your excuse now.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
No, I'm sure he will come up with one.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Yeah. I mean, I'm appreciative that he's doing it, but
it's like, come on, dude, let's let's let's do the
bench later and you don't need the wheels. Let's just
get this done and then I'll leave you alone. I
don't ask for much and I'm not one of those
wives like all these projects. I don't do that to him.
So well, we'll see how it goes.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
So April Fools just passed. And I'm not a big prankster,
but did anyone do anything with you or No?

Speaker 1 (19:28):
No, I absolutely I've always hated April Fools. I just
hate it. And it's like the same old jokes and
pranks people do. What is the point, Like it's I'm
not trying to be I am a fun person, but
I don't see the point in it. And back in
the day, it used to be, oh, pretend you're pregnant.
You know I'm pregnant all and then you're not, and

(19:49):
that was stupid.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
But I knew.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
I just saw a new one. I was really shocked.
In our beloved Mom's group, this mom went on there
anonymously and said, I want to prank my husband for
April Fools and I need to have a big favor
to ask. Can multiple women in this group text my husband.
I'll give you this number if you message me, text

(20:12):
my husband and send him naughty naked pictures and flirt
with him, so I could, you know, I want to
prank him like that. And a few moms like is
this a set up? Are you setting him up? Or
you know, and she was like, oh, you know, some
people were getting nasty water about like this is stupid
or this is like why would you do that? And yeah,

(20:35):
she didn't. She admit like that she's trying to see
what his reaction.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Is going to be or whatever or something like that.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Yeah, like that's just that's that's disgusting and you who
knows where that can lead. I wouldn't want to even
give them the temptation. Now they have this other woman's
phone number. They just had a naked picture of her,
you know, like, what is wrong with people? She went
a little too far to try to prove that her
husband would cheat on her. You know she's not admitted
that's us, but I think that's what it is she

(21:02):
wants to see. But that that's absolutely you know, she
was anonymous, but whoever she's, whoever is gonna write her,
it's gonna know who she is. And that's kind of embarrassing.
And a few people said they would do it. A
few people said, I'll do it. I'm gonna message you
or message me whatever they said, and then she's gonna
give him the number. I should write what was the outcome?
What was the outcome of this? Because that that's absolutely no.

(21:25):
I would never ever have women send my husband naked
photos of themselves. I don't care what kind of setting up.
I don't want that, you know, I don't want that.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
I just find that crazy to me. It is it's
it's really weird because any guy is gonna be like
oh wow, yeah, like.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Yeah, any even my husband, if if a girl was
flirting with him and sent him a picture of her butt,
he'd be like, damn, who's loose, you know, and that
doesn't mean he's gonna cheat on me, but they're gonna
be interesting, like, oh this is nice, you know. So
I don't know, I people have lost their mind. Now,
some people might be into that, but the Mom's Group

(22:03):
I don't think was the right place for that with
a bunch of strangers. I think that you should have
a friend prank with a fake number and a fake
photo they got on Instagram or I mean on Google,
you know, do that, or go to the after hours
mom's group, you know the cocktails one oh, where they
talk all the sexual do it in that group. But
I don't know, I just found it very weird.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
I don't know. The Mom's group is always just weird
to me. The things that they ask is just really.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, yeah, it's pretty. A lot of it is so dumb.
A lot of it is just like my eyes pop
out of my head sometimes. But it's entertaining. We get
a lot from this from the Mom's Group of the podcast,
I tell you that much. So they're giving us stuff
to talk about.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
We get all of our content. Yeah, from the Mom's Group.
They should have a podcast.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
I know. It's funny.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
And that's our show for this week. Thank you so
much for tuning in. We will see you next week.
Be sure to follow us on all social media platforms
at Shauna and Lala. You could follow me on Instagram
at the real Shauna May.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
