Andy l'abbiamo incontrato la prima volta al demo day di Y Combinator, a marzo 2021. Era uno tra 319 e aveva un minuto di tempo per fare il suo pitch a una platea di migliaia di investitori. Presentava Pry (pry.co): uno strumento intuitivo e intelligente per gestire le finanze di una startup (al posto dei fogli Excel).
Ci è piaciuto, lo abbiamo risentito, e durante la prima call ci ha convinto definitivamente: lui come founder, il suo percorso, le metriche di Pry, la sua vision per questo prodotto - secondo noi - con un potenziale enorme.
Ma lui soprattutto: chiaro, deciso, misurato, assertivo, con un piano, una visione, un grande obiettivo. Dopo la nostra due diligence, e qualche scambio di mail con Andy, abbiamo deciso di investire.
Con Andy abbiamo chiacchierato una mezz'oretta della sua duplice esperienza in Y Combinator (nel 2010 con InDinero e poi nel 2021 con Pry), del suo punto di vista sul fundraising (che ha fatto diverse volte, con e senza YC) e del ruolo della Silicon Valley nel suo percorso.
