Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is Six in the Morning with Brett Caine on demand.
Check out Brett weekday mornings at six on Altitude Sports
Radio ninety two five and on the Altitude Sports Radio App.
It's about life, Football Friday. Happy Halloween to everybody that's
(00:25):
out there. This is always sort of the cutoff, isn't it.
It's because I know this because I have a daughter
that is a trick or treater now and every year
she's been trick or treating. Halloween is like the cutoff
day for when it starts to get really cold outside
(00:46):
every year. Uh, And it's been something I've learned is
that if you're going out trick or treating and you
got a little kid, that kid is going to be
so bundled that nobody's even gonna see the costume. Baby
Jamal Kill will be a witch this year. By the way,
(01:07):
huge news yesterday as the Avs have signed Martin Nachs,
and I think that this is a huge and massive
accomplishment for two reasons. The first is very simple. You
have a very very very talented player under contract for
(01:36):
the life of what this run is going to be
with McKinnon and mccarr and everybody else that we have
considered the core of this group to be a champion.
Martin Nachs has also earned that by being somebody who
has been consistently a top twenty point scorer, and I
(01:58):
think this year very easily be somebody who's like hovering
in the top ten playing a full season alongside Nathan McKinnon.
You also did this eight years at eleven and a
half million dollars per a half million dollars less than
(02:22):
Miko rantonin so you got a similar player skill wise,
in production wise for the price that you probably wanted
to play pay Miko but couldn't come to an agreement on.
You know, he does do things differently than what Miko does. Uh,
(02:46):
he's a little bit more adept at movement and puck handling.
You know, I actually think Nelly, I can't remember if
it was two weeks ago, three weeks ago. I asked
this question to Jared Bednar though when he was one
of the first times he was joining us for the
(03:07):
weekly chats on The Jared Bednar Show, and I asked
what the difference was between him and between Miko Ranton
and brought to the table, And it just hit me, Now,
if you can find it. Please, if not, don't worry
about it. But he is a different player and it's
a different style that you need to play when you
(03:29):
are alongside somebody like Nathan McKinnon, and I actually think
his style fits a little bit better. Miko had that
really that really reliable one timer that if you threw
it across the ice because of the attention that is
drawn by Nathan McKinnon, he can rip one off before
(03:50):
the goal even has time to react. But Natus has
this ability to just find open ice. It's it's more
along what like mccarr does. That's just you can avoid traffic,
squeezing the tight windows and just find open eyes. And
(04:13):
so a few weeks ago, a couple of weeks ago,
I asked Jared Bednar the difference between Nate just being
on that top line with McKinnon as opposed to Miko Ranton.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, so different players in a lot of respects. Both
super talented guys. But like one of the strengths of
Miko's was packing the pock down low in the offense
his zone. You know, a defenders on his back, He's
still able to handle the pucket, his eyes up find
the open man's really good in traffic because he's so
(04:46):
big and strong, just you know, an elite passer and
an elite shooter, right. And then you got Marty who's
he's he's a great transporter of the puck, a little
bit more dynamic with his movement, like through the neutral zone,
out of the D zone, carrying the puck into the
offense zone, getting set up.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
This is what they wanted, though. They wanted a player
of this caliber for that price. Eight years, eleven and
a half million dollars, a front loaded contract, sixty million
in signing bonuses. Like they wanted to get this deal
done with Miko, they couldn't, and so they found somebody
(05:30):
of a similar production level to get this contract done.
And what's really interesting is it doesn't feel like the
Caprice off stuff really affected his deal. You Know, we
all kind of thought that Caprice off and seventeen million
(05:51):
a year would just throw everything out of whack. And
I think the real equalizer in this was that McDavid
was willing to take the same contract he had before
for two years. He could have asked for the moon,
but he's like, I'm gonna do this. I'm gonna give
you two more years in Edmonton, and if we can't
(06:12):
get Stanley Cup by then, then I'm out of here
and I'm going to make five billion, gajillion trillion dollars
a year. But him taking that one little step there,
I think helped a lot of other people in it,
or a lot of other teams in their contract negotiations
(06:34):
with players they wanted to keep long term. Now here's
the really good news, because I've been seeing this over
and over again, and this is something that just popped
up the other day. This is what Pierre Lebron said
on his show Insider Trading. All three days ago, the Avs,
(06:59):
in talks with Martin Nachus agent, have said, listen, there's
an ecosystem here. We're gonna have to sign cal mccarr
to a healthy raise, but we're still confident we can
get Nachu's extended at some point. That was three days ago.
So what's the translation. If they have gone out and
(07:20):
gotten this deal done with Martin Nhs, cal mccar's right
around the corner. They would not have done this deal
if they didn't know the price tag it was going
to take to get mccar locked in long term. And
(07:40):
was never a concern whether they would sign cal mccarr
or not. But that's what this tells me, because I
thought the same thing. It's gonna be hard to give
Martin Nchus his his contract extension if you don't know
what the price is going to be with McCarry yet, well,
(08:02):
they know there's no way this deal gets done without it.
He's guess what if cal mccarr walked into Chris McFarland's
office today and said, I want twenty million dollars a year.
He's getting twenty million dollars a year. He will go
down as one of the greatest players he's ever lived,
and that guy gets to name his price. So the
(08:24):
fact that that has not been announced yet but we
have gotten the Marty Nachos deal tells me that mccarr's
also done. It's just a matter of when. When is
everything going to get signed? And the i's dotted and
the t's crossed. But I am you look at both
(08:46):
of these teams honestly, the guys that you consider long term,
core players that need to be on your roster for championships.
Both the Abs and the Nuggets have them. I mean, yeah,
(09:06):
Nikola Jokich's deal is not done. Yet it will be.
Mccar's deal is not done yet, it will be. But
everybody you consider like this is going to be the
engine of the car that's going to get us championships
or not. You have them basically for life. So again
(09:31):
you know exactly what's going down when they get this
Martin Nacho's deal done. The car is basically everything is.
It has to be set. They wouldn't have done the
deal without it. There's no scenario in which the APS go, oh, God,
did we spend too much money already now we don't
have enough for Kale wouldn't happen. So this is great
(09:56):
news and moving forward, you have a lot of things
going on today because it is Nevada Day. The As
are going to be playing at two o'clock. That is
going to be at am nine point fifty with pregame
(10:17):
at one thirty. That really weird middle of the day
game whatever, But the Apps will be playing today at
two o'clock in the afternoon because Nevada decided to throw
a holiday. The Nuggets, by the way, play tonight at
eight o'clock, which you can hear on ninety two to five,
(10:39):
so you can stay tuned for that. We had football
games all over the weekend as well. I get a
lot of football I want to get into with the
Broncos playing against the Texans. I also got something on
the Buffs, because I don't know what the Buffs plan
is from here. They just had a game in which
they got molly wopped. Where do you go from here?
And is it time for a change? It feels like
it is, but nothing's been announced yet. But this is again.
(11:07):
The biggest news from yesterday was very obviously that Marty
Nachos gets his deal done and he is going to
be here for essentially the rest of his career and
certainly what feels like the rest of the Avs sort
of cup run with this corps. So three oh three,
five oh four, nine two five shot mas de text line,
(11:28):
one price, one person, one hour. The Thursday night game
last night did tell me one thing. The Ravens aren't dead.
It blew me away yesterday when a textra said this
to me and I didn't believe it. I had to
go look it up for myself. The favorites to win
the AFC North is still the Baltimore Ravens, who had
(11:51):
a one in five start to the season and I
think that that is way more a mistrust in what
the Pittsburgh Steelers are as opposed to believing that Baltimore
is just gonna turn it around. But I mentioned this yesterday.
You look at the schedule that's laid in front of
the Baltimore Ravens. They've already won their last two. They
(12:13):
beat the Bears last week, which was massive for them,
Snoop Puntley putting up thirty points. So they win thirty
to sixteen against the Bears last week. They come in
short week playing in Miami, Miami just had a big
win last week, and kick the snot out of him
(12:34):
twenty eight to six. They then go on to play Minnesota,
who is gonna be starting JJ mccarthew did not look
good in his first couple of weeks. Then they play Cleveland,
who's terrible. Then they play the Jets, who's terrible. They're
probably gonna rattle off five straight wins, and then it's
(12:54):
Cincinnati Pittsburgh. Cincinnati having them is the favorites for the
AFC North. I totally get it, but it's something like
when they were in the middle of not having Lamar
and giving up a billion points a game and all
that different stuff. You kind of I did. I thought
(13:15):
they were dead, and then the rest of their division died.
And then Pittsburgh last week lost that game to Cincinnati
and it became huge. Do you guys remember, by the way,
when Mike Tomlin got so upset that they traded Joe
Flacco in the vision, Remember when he called out Andrew
(13:35):
Berry by name. Do you now understand why he was
so pissed. He knew Mike Tomlin's not new to the game.
They made Cincinnati a more viable team by getting rid
of a veteran quarterback who doesn't who knows what he's doing.
(13:58):
And he thought a loss against then was possible, and
it certainly happened. And now he's got to look over
his shoulder at the Baltimore Ravens in a healthy Lamar
Jackson for weeks now. On the flip side, I don't
know how much longer they can keep doing this Toua
(14:20):
and Mike McDaniel thing. I just I don't. I don't
think you can you can continue to watch that every week.
Tua has got eleven interceptions this year, eleven already Mike
McDaniel was already on thin ice. Kind of going into
this year and then a two and seven start with
(14:41):
a mostly healthy TUA not helping matters either, Like I
would be really surprised if he makes it through the
rest of the year, especially if they continue to play
this way. But a lot more to get to here.
On a bud Light Football Friday three zho three five

Football Friday. But like the official beer sponsor of the
Denver Broncos remember to enjoy responsibly textrass. Question that I
think is interesting. Are the Broncos scene as frauds similar
to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Depends what you mean by frauds.
(16:23):
I don't think that there's a question whether the Broncos
are a playoff team. The question is when they make
the playoffs, what do they do from there? The Steelers
have a question mark whether they're a playoff team or not.
(16:46):
So I think that's the separation between those two teams.
But do I think there's skepticism among people locally and
nationally on how good the Broncos actually are? Yes? Am
I skeptical of how good the Broncos are? Yes? The
(17:08):
Broncos have not yet.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
There's there's one thing about being in being at the party.
There's another thing about looking the part.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
You know.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
For example, if there's some big, swinky, rich guy Bezos
party and I'm there, Okay, I'm at the party. Do
I look like I should belong there? Probably not. There's
actually there's no probably about it. The answer is a
(17:45):
straight up no, I don't belong, but you got there.
I think the Broncos could very much prove that they
could feel like they belong. And I actually think this week,
out of all the weeks, is one that they could
(18:07):
start to change some minds surrounding that subject. You're playing
a really good defense, really good. You have an offense
that has mostly struggled this year with spurts of brilliance,
(18:30):
but the inconsistency is something that's not trustworthy and we
all know it, we feel it. If I ask you,
how's the Broncos offense going to perform this weekend, wouldn't
your answer be I have no idea. That's not typically
what good teams say about a unit of importance on
their roster. You take all the teams that Nelly find
(18:56):
me a random power ranking place. Just go to Google
and Google will search power NFL Power rankings and give
me the first thing that pops up. And I want
you to read some names that are in front of
the Denver Broncos, please, because I want to do an
exercise here, and I think that the Broncos should be
treated with skepticism, but but in optimistic skepticism.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
I would say, Okay, this is week nine Power Rankings.
I believe this article was published three days ago. From
whom espn. Okay, do you just want me to start?
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Take?
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Yeah, where the start was at first? Where the Broncos
at first?
Speaker 3 (19:28):
That's a good question. I'm scrolling scrolling. No, no, we're
still going. They're number nine.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Okay, nine sounds perfectly fair. Now give me the number
eight team. Who is it?
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Number eight is our coworkers, the Los Angeles Rams.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Do you have any questions whether the Rams offense is
good or not?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
No?
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Okay, go to seven.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Seven is the Green Bay Packers?
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Do you have questions?
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Well?
Speaker 1 (19:53):
I think there is questions about them, not as vast
as what the Broncos are. My question with the the
the Packers offense is they're good? But how good are they?
So keep going? Go up the list.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Number six is the Kansas City Chiefs, No.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Question about them right now operating at a pretty high level.
And then you can go on and on from there,
because I'm sure above that is what it's Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Or it's the Buccaneers, then the Bills, then the Eagles, Lions,
and number one is the Colts.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Most of those teams, you look at them and you
don't have a question of what's going to happen on Sunday. Now, ironically,
the Eagles are probably one of them. But the Eagles
have had this, been there, done that thing for three
four straight years now, where you can't question too much
of it. All I'm telling you is when you have
(20:52):
no idea what kind of group you're gonna get on
a Sunday, how are you supposed to react to that?
So three oh three, five four nine two five shot
maz de text line, one price, one person, one hour.
(21:17):
I do think it's a very legitimate question about do
you treat the Broncos with skepticism or not? And it's
why I feel like this Houston game is so important.
It's one thing to do it against a terrible defense
like Dallas, and Dallas had no issue with allowing your
(21:39):
receivers to run wide open, unencumbered by like five yards
without anybody around him, like I on that Troy Franklin touchdown.
They scored so much last week it's hard to keep
track of how many scores people had. But Troy Franklin
(22:00):
the touchdown later in the game is second, so he
catches one all by himself in the middle of the
end zone on like the short side of it, and
you go back and watch that play, Nelly. Not only
was he wide open in the middle of the field
(22:22):
standing in the end zone, bo Nicks had like six
seconds to let that ball go. That's all stuff that
is not going to be happening against the Houston Texans.
That clock is going to start ticking in a hurry.
It's gonna be quicker. You've got to make quicker decisions.
(22:43):
You got to put balls on the money faster, and
receivers are going to have to find a way to
get wide open faster or not wide open, but at
least open. If they can go out this week against
that defense and put up a decent offensive performance again,
we can start to have some discussions like maybe they
found something midway through the year, point being this is
(23:11):
a big week to change minds on how far you
can go. And I am somebody and this is like,
this is a silly thing about me. And I understand
it's silly because what's the bottom line. It's winning? Okay, cool,
but at least yeah, I'm nothing if not pretty consistent,
(23:33):
because over the last couple of years I have called
out the Chiefs for winning in an ugly fashion and
saying that I don't trust it and they ended up
making the Super Bowl. I called out the Eagles for
winning in ugly fashion, and they ended up winning the
Super Bowl. Now I can be wrong, but it's just
how my brain operates. Things need to look proper for
(23:56):
me to believe in it. And right now the Broncos
I think are getting there, but they aren't there yet.
If they had more games than just basically the Cowboys
and maybe you can throw the Bengals in there, of
offense looking consistent over four quarters, I'd be in a
(24:19):
much different place. But instead they've had multiple games of
nothing for three quarters and then an explosion in the fourth.
And that's what I can't trust. But you do this,
you put together another game with consistency against a defense
(24:40):
that's actually great, I'll start to believe one thing I
have no issues with that I would go down. Like
when pats Ertan before the season said this could be
a historic defense in the NFL, he was right about
(25:00):
one thing. The way that this team gets after a
quarterback is unbelievable. The reason I think that you have
a really good shot to win this weekend because this
is one of the rare occasions. Guys. The Broncos are
dogs in this game one and a half point dogs,
and I think they're gonna win. And here's why. The
(25:22):
O line for the Houston Texans is atrocious. They can't
run the ball and they can't stop people from hitting CJ. Stroud.
And if there's one thing that we know for a fact,
no question about it, that they do for sure at
a high level, they make your quarterback hit the ground
(25:44):
over and over and over and over and over again. CJ.
Stroud has had less than two hundred and fifty yards
passing in six of the seven games this year. He
has taken multiple sacks in almost every game this season,
(26:06):
with one exception. So when they went out, remember CJ.
Strod had that rough start to the season. They lost
three straight to the Rams, the Bucks in the Jaguars
to start the year. But he's taken at least two
(26:28):
sacks in six of seven games. And then they put
together a really nice game against San Francisco last week.
That's the game that he had his first three hundred
yard passing game, or is it really his first two
hundred and fifty yard passing game, but he ended up
with three to eighteen. The first game that he went unsacked,
the entire time, and that's sort of the mo about
(26:48):
it's not just about c J. Stroud, but it's about
quarterbacks in general, but especially with CJ. If he's under
duress and he's under pressure, he's a really tough time
being effective, like most quarterbacks do. And if your O
line is bad and you're facing a defense that's on
pace to not just break the single season sack record,
but to absolutely shatter it, it gives me a lot
(27:11):
of hope. At the same time, you're without your starting corner,
you're without the defensive player of the year. You're gonna
have to get help from your offense. And if your
offense can't do things consistently and they're going three and
out and you're putting your defense on the field over
(27:32):
and over and over again, it is just leaving you
in a very tough state of relying on the defense
to bill you out repeatedly. So again three ZHO three
(27:53):
five oh four nine two five shot Master text line.
By the way, when we get back on the air
on Monday, we're gonna be a day away from the
trade deadline, and I wonder if the Broncos are gonna
be players in this. We've heard a couple of things
about what they could be doing. Shopping for a tight
end is one of them. But I asked Adam Schefter
(28:18):
about what the Broncos could be looking for when the
trade deadline arises. I believe it's Tuesday at like two
o'clock or something like that is when the deadline is.
Here's what he said.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
You know, I know the Broncs have I think they've
had some interest in a wide receiver, and I think
that they might feel like they need I think I
would say, like, I don't know, I kind of like
to see these young guys grow Pat Bryan and Marvin
Mins and some of these other guys, Like sometimes you
get a veteran receiver and they become what Bill Parsol's
(28:52):
you just say, progress stoppers. And maybe I'm missing something,
but that was an offensive looked great yesterday. You know
you had Franklin making plays all over the field. Brian
got involved, made some plays like a veteran like could
you use anotherse You was sure, But sometimes it's best
to let some of these young guys develop and you
make calls. If there's something, they're fine. But my point
(29:13):
is if they don't, if they don't do anything. I'm
okay with that. I'm okay with that.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Yeah. They The question is if they were searching for something,
what would you go out and get. And I think
the help would have to be on offense. It would
probably have to be a playmaker. You're good on the
offensive line even with the injuries Ben Powers is do
you remember, Nellie how long that injury was supposed to
be with Ben Powers? Because I'm I don't, but I
(29:39):
know it's yeah, You're supposed to return at some point
this season. So I don't think you'd go out and
find an offensive lineman for a rental duty for like
a couple of weeks. It would have to be a
skill position spot. One of the things that I think
they could do. And there's been rumors out here. I
don't know who's who's tossed this out there, but it
(30:02):
could be tight end And I think we can all
acknowledge one thing. You know, I had this written down
at the beginning of the week. We just haven't gotten
to it yet. Kufonga like he's a very very good
(30:23):
free agent acquisition that has changed and made better a
unit that was already pretty good. JK. Dobbins has done
the same I don't feel that impact from Evan Ingram.
Is it better than what you've had? Yeah, it's better,
(30:44):
But is it this same sort of thing that we've
seen from guys like Kufanga and JK Dobbins. JK Dobbins
has changed like it's made you the third best rushing
attack per game in the NFL. That's what he's brought
to the table. Hufonga has been somebody that is He's
(31:07):
a dude that plays with his hair on fire and
is constantly around the football, which was missing from last
year opposite of Brandon Jones. Ingram's been fine, but I
don't think anybody's been like totally blown away with his production.
If they all want to find a god damn joker,
(31:28):
he hasn't been that. I guess if you are in
the market for a tight end, I think I would
totally understand it. When we were talking about this before
the season started, you know Evan Ingram and I know
he's been banged up, he's played through injuries, he's missed
a game, all that different stuff. But through seven games
of the season, Evan Ingram's got twenty six catches for
(31:52):
two hundred and fifteen yards in a touchdown. I don't
think that's exactly what we thought the production would be
for him. Like your bona fide number two guy in
the past game is Troy Franklin, and there's no question
about it, and that's I think that's a good thing
that he's made a jump to where he's a legitimate
(32:14):
number two guy, but that that sort of impactful Evan
Ingram something something like it, just it hasn't happened yet,
but it's about light football Friday, a lot more football
to talk about it. Do want to get to the
buffs in just a second and kind of where they
(32:36):
go from here after last week? Also, we'll make Nellie
sing stick around. High school football on Altitude Sports Radio
continues tonight as Mark Johnson and Tyler Plumbus call the
action between Cherry Creek and Grandview on AM nine to
fifty at seven o'clock. High School football is powered by
sport Clips, proud supporters of Chats Up Bud, Light Football Friday,
(33:01):
and a lot more football to talk about. One of
the questions I have is cu who got demolished last
week to the tune of three hundred and eighty six
yards to negative eighteen at halftime we heard all the
Dion clips after the game, throughout the week of He
(33:24):
doesn't understand how that happened.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Dick is a snicker.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Bbls. If Cadence Salter starts again, do you have a
problem with it? Because I do.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
I don't understand the point. And Vic mentions this all
the time, and I think he's totally right about this,
that Dion has this mix of a new school tendency
with an old school mentality as far as his head
coaching approach, Cayden Salter, if he goes out and he
(34:02):
starts again, there's one reason why loyalty and honoring a
promise that you made to somebody was a grad transfer,
which I think is honorable. But I don't think there's
a single football reason as to why he should be
continuing to play nothing against the kid. It hasn't worked,
(34:30):
and last week is the nail in the coffin. They
couldn't move the football for an entire half. In fact,
they moved backwards even in the second half. He did nothing.
And at this point, at this juncture of the season,
this is no longer about twenty twenty five, This is
about twenty twenty six. In twenty twenty seven. In twenty
(34:54):
twenty eight, that's what it's about, which means Juju Lewis
needs to play. Have an issue with him not benching
Salter in the middle of the game. I don't think
it would be beneficial to really anyone, if we're being honest,
to put Juju in at halftime of last week, give
(35:16):
him a full week to prep. And I hope they're
They're pretty tight lipped about this stuff, but I hope
that's what's been happening. If he's not playing by this week,
there is no purpose to it. I know there's always
(35:40):
this mentality of, hey, we haven't been eliminated from a
bowl game yet, well you're going to be. There's just
I don't know how many people can look at the
schedule that they have left, which has gotten increasingly tougher
because I don't think the Big Twelve has any elite teams,
(36:02):
but they got a lot of teams that are pretty good.
Now you're a dog to Arizona, and we were talking
about this by like week three of the season, that
you're probably going to be a dog in each of
the remaining games, with the exception of maybe West Virginia.
Now West Virginia is terrible, but I thought maybe you'd
be a favorite in Kansas State, and now Kandas State
(36:24):
has kind of hit another gear offensively where they scored
at least thirty four points in the last month worth
of football. If you don't focus right now on what
the future of this program is, then you're wasting time.
(36:47):
And there's nothing worse than I always say this time
is a valuable thing. And you guys pay myself in
Nelly and Vic and Moje with your time and not
your money. And I think that's more valuable.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Onely fly by as the pendulum swings exactly right, drop
some Lincoln Park on me.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
There you go. But it's more valuable. And if you
waste that, it's so punitive. There just serves no purpose.
You brought somebody in who's a high level recruit. You
were able to land him, and that's a compliment to
(37:29):
you for your recruiting tools. I understand that he's very young.
He has been practicing in a buff's uniform for basically
a year. Now take the training wheels off and let's
see and if he stinks, who cares like, Let's be honest.
(37:54):
If it's bad, if he's just not ready. Do you
think he'll have more than negative eighteen yards a half?
Because if the answer is yes, then you already know
what that looks like. It tried to stop thing that
also didn't work. It's time to just look towards the
(38:17):
future and say we are spending the rest of this
season preparing for next year.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
That's a setup.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
It's also the truth. You have to by the way,
in college football this weekend or in the NFL this weekend,
what a huge game and like you want to talk
about a real, actual test. Kansas City's going on the
(38:46):
road at Buffalo as a two and a half point favorite,
and think about the reactions we're gonna have if, first
of all, Kansas City wins that game, because people are
gonna start calling Buffalo frauds, which they've kind of been
trending that direction anyway. They've had a rough last few weeks.
I mean, they did blow the snot out of the
(39:08):
Carolina Panthers last weekend, but in the previous weeks they
lost to Atlanta and then the week before that they
lost to the Patriots at home. They lose to Kansas City,
There's going to be some takes to be had from
a lot of different people. But it's also going to
be all right. The Chiefs aren't unstoppable. Wagon again, look
the hell out. And I think for all of our sakes,
(39:32):
especially us in Denver, is anybody more of a Josh
Allen fan thin your Broncos fans right now? Josh Allen,
you would love nothing more than that guy just going
out there and just ripping apart that Chiefs team.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Well, then the good news is if the Bills win,
then we get to hear Patrick Mahomes meet Josh Allen
at midfield and complain about refs robbing right and not
complimenting Josh Allen.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
We did.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
We get to hear Mahomes complaining about how bad the
refs were literally the opponent no credit.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
So there you go the turning point for me and
what pushed you over the edge with Mahomes because I
was getting there and then he did that, and I've
just I've never been that. I've never seen him the
same since changed.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
My entire perception was that the game where Travis Kelcey
had some crazy catch on like a trick play and
then it was called back.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
They might have they might have cost him a Hall
of fame career.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
What Yeah, well, hey, it's you know, Kane, It's it's
not easy being green.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
I know. I don't know how people do a ma
Home's impression. They say, do Kermit the Frog, but it's
not Kermit the Frog. It's almost higher pitch than that.
It's like Kermit the Frog with a little more throat
in it. Yeah, a little bit more. Yeah, I think
that's pretty close. Hey, now that your voice is warmed up,
Nelly good, come on, everybody, and you're cars. Let's go.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
Betty Bretty Bretty his best. Rip it, Nelly, rip it, Bretty, Betsy, Betty, Betsy,
Betty Betty Betty did his best.
Speaker 1 (41:27):
Here's what we do. At the end of the appetizer.
Every Friday, I give you one lock of the week
and one underdog of the week of the football weekend.
My lock is in the NFL. The Raiders. Yes, that team,
uh thirty one to nothing last week they lost to
the Chiefs. The week before that, they did beat the
(41:47):
Titans twenty to ten. They have Jacksonville coming to town. Jacksonville,
I think is a good team. They've lost their last two.
They have blownout excuse me, last week against the Rams
thirty five to seven. I don't think they're losing three straight.
And you look at the spread in this game, they
are favorites barely two and a half points. As they
(42:11):
go on the road to Vegas. I think that they
beat them pretty easily in cleanly, so they're gonna be
my lock of the week.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Now.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
In college football, Texas Tech looks like they're getting back
Baron Morton, but after being out as long as he's
been out, They're playing against Kansas State, and this Kansas
State team has blown out their last two opponents, including
TCU and Kansas in the last couple of weeks. They've
scored thirty four points in the last month, at least
thirty four points in each game in the last month.
(42:38):
It's Texas Tech by seven and a half. I don't
like that kicker. I think Kansas State not only has
a chance to cover that touchdown, they have a chance
to win outright because we're playing really good right now.
So Kansas State's the underdog of the week. Come watch
