is the last day BK is out. I'm actually gonna
get to some sleep after today's show. I have I've
inhaled more coffee this week than i have the entire

joint practice yesterday. We're gonna talk about that. We're gonna
talk about their game against the Niners coming up this weekend.
We're gonna talk about the New York Yankees, because that's
all Baka cares about. The only thing Baka cares about
is is Hamilton and the New York Yankees. Isn't that correct?
Baka is Alan Baka in for Steve and everybody took

the day off. Man most took the day off. Nelson
took to day off. I'm sure Vic's gonna mail in today. Hey,

your CALIBERL Rockies did not lose yesterday. It was because
the CALIBERT Rockies did not play yesterday.

Aaron Judge is doing amazing, is doing stupid ridiculous things

he's d h right now. And now I'm just on
edge that anytime he throws the ball, he's gonna, you know,

early with Showhy. But now he's like, watch me throw

So the Rockies are thirty five and a half games out. Uh,
the Yankees are six and a half games out, and
Toronto sixty eight wins for the Blue jaessus crazy. But anyway,

We had that Broncos practice. Man, let me tell you something.
Let me tell you something. It wasn't listen. You can
you can take the word of the local media chuckleheads
here in this city when it comes to the Broncos.

You can listen to what they're saying. But you you
keep hearing us say the same thing over and over
for weeks. Now about how you know the Broncos looking good, man,
The defense is looking good, man, Bow's all right, man,
like things are gonna look things are gonna be pretty
good this season. But yesterday I think you got a
different view angle of the Broncos because you had a
bunch of San Francisco forty nine reporters going, oh damn,

this defense by the Broncos is the real deal. And
it's because the Broncos defense came out and punched San
Francisco in the face. They picked off brock Perty twice
in the seven on seven. Now pretty got some back
in the red zone drill. But happens later in practice.
I mean, the Broncos defense looked like the best unit

out there in joint practice, and one of the Niners
reporters was saying, like the Broncos defense compared to the
Niners defense is night and day, and the Niners think
they're a super Bowl team. The Broncos defense is so
much better than what the Niners are throwing out there
on the defensive side of the ball that it's just
so I mean, the hype, it just keeps going up.

The hype just keeps going up. Buck, have you got
some of these Let's play some Sean Payton, man, Let's
play some Sean Payton as he addressed the media yesterday,
Bo Nicks, we're gonna hear from bow. He had some
fun things uh to say yesterday after practice, and so
did Mike mclinch. But let's matter of fact, let's let's
start off with cutting umber one from Sean Payton just
talking about the joint practice.

So obviously a lot of good film for us to
get on here in the next you know, day and
a half. Anytime then you guys know this, You get
to work against a different team, different cadence, different defense alignments.
Offensively the same way rout concepts. You know, you're you're
solving maybe some problems on the fly. You know, I

spent the book most of the practice on the offensive field.
Of course, Kyle was on their offensive field, so uh,
I said, you know, I said to the players there
there's a lot when we get back to the hotel
that we're going to want to look at clean up.

Overall, I was pleased with the work.

We got and and both sides, I thought, you know,
hand handled themselves. Well, it was competitive, and yet you know,
we we got a ton of situational work, you know,
two minute red zone, third down, a lot of teamwork.
So a lot of players getting a lot of work.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Sean Payton seems pretty happy with joint practice. There are
some coaches, well let me say this that a lot
of coaches in the NFL right now like joint practice.
But that's because they are losing these preseason games. There
are some coaches who hate Andy Reid is always like
as not the big but he he's so much of

(05:26):
a control freak. He doesn't want and I think a
lot of coaches like this. He doesn't want another another
another another coach, another team coming in and telling him
how to run his his practice. So Andy Reid is
one of those guys. He's like, I don't know, I mean,
they do it, but he's not super stoked about him.
Who else was Robert Salah. Robert Salih was the same
kind of way. He was like, I want to we

practice hard enough against ourselves. We don't need another team
to make us practice hard. So let's just do it.
But a lot of a lot of coaches really like
joint practice. Sean Payton seems to be one of those guys.
And it all worked out yesterday. That's because, I mean,
the Broncos look like the the better side. But once again,
it's joy practice. I'm not sure how hype you can

get about it. All right, excuse me, I want to
do I want to do something interesting here. After talking
about this defense the entire offseason, then with the additions
the Broncos made to the defense, like the Broncos defense

was killing the Niners yesterday to start that practice, and
they didn't have green Law and they didn't have Singleton.
Both of those guys didn't practice. And it sounds like
Peyton said after practice that green Law is most likely
not going to go in the game tomorrow night, and
Kyle Shanahan said most of his starters aren't gonna go

in a game tomorrow night. He's like, we're not gonna
set all twenty two starters, but we're gonna set most
of them. So who knows who San Francisco rolls out there.
I mean, we're not gonna see brock perty at all.
But all right, Broncos country, you tell me this Broncos defense.
Now listen. I'm an offensive guy. I love offense. I
like laser beams and fireworks and explode. I like offense,

and I love to see the Broncos offense catch fire
this season. But the greatest defense in the history of
the Denver Broncos is the twenty fifteen Denver Broncos. Right,
that is the greatest defense in the history of the
Denver Broncos what we had here in twenty fifteen. Matter
of fact, I will say this, I believe the twenty
fifteen Denver Bronco defense is one of the top ten

defenses of all time. Like, I mean, I'm not sitting
here saying that they're the eighty six Bears or the
Steelers Steel Curtain from the seventies or something like that,
but that is the best defense they've ever had. And
guess what this defense this season, this defense this season,
they think they get right, They think they could challenge

that they can Could this defense be the best defense
in the history of this team? Can they be better
than what we saw in twenty fifteen? Can they be
better than that von Miller led defense that just created
havoc and won the whole Super Bowl? I don't know.

this defense is what we think it is, can it

who sees what the Broncos are doing on the defensive

a good team. That's gonna be a good, good, good,
good good defensive unit. Man, how good can it be?
Can it be a top ten all time unit? Because
that's what it would be. If they're better than the
twenty fifteen team, that would be a top ten defense
of all times? That right, the twenty fifteen Denver Bronco defense.

This is crazy. This is why I mean, I love
hyping up the Bronx when they're playing like this, but
it this might be a might be a step too far.
When I'm when when you're like, can you be the
twenty fifteen Denver Bronco defense? You know what that team did? Man,
Teams couldn't run on them on the twenty fifteen team,

they couldn't score on them in the playoffs. In the
playoffs that year, the year they won the whole day,
that Broncos defense held Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady and Cam
Newton to a combined forty four points while dishing out
fourteen sacks. That's how dominant that defense was in the playoffs.

I mean, should you set expectations that high? I mean,
Super Bowl is as high as it gets. But top

be the player in his rookie season that we think
he can be the player he was in Texas, and
Moss continues to be Moss and PS two just shows
up because that man is a monster. You know what
team they could be? They could be that Buccaneers team,

the to Tampa Bay Buccaneers team, who was also one
of the greatest defenses in the history of the NFL.
But do you remember that Bucks team? I mean, the
game of football has changed a ton since O. Two,
but nobody could pass on that team. Remember that Ronde
Barber Warren Sap defense that they had there in Tampa.

You could not throw on that team, man, You could
not throw on them. You like that, like you you
had to try to move the ball by running because
you could not throw on that team. Could the Broncos
be like that? Could the Broncos be like the O
two Buccaneers defense that was? Man? Is that the was

if he would we consider the two Bucks team. That
defense is a top ten defense of all time. Do

this city right now, could be a lot like that

leaning Danny Dimes. But what the culture wanted to do
was give Anthony the majority of this game to see
what he can do. Then their next preseason game, they

were gonna give you the majority of those snaps to
Daniel Jones. But Anthony Richardson got sacked and he dislocated
his pinky. Matter of fact, he said he looked down
at his hand and his pinky was going the wrong way,
and he said, well that he couldn't feel it. He said,

his pinky was pu the other way, So he went
to the sideline. They snapped it back into place, but
then they didn't. They didn't throw him back in there.
He did try to throw a ball to grip. He

dude's been in the NFL for three years. And I

He was nonumber four pick overall, but it feels like
he's been in the league forever. He's two years younger

be consistent of the quarterback position. I don't man, Dan

know if Anthony Richards is ever going to be a
starting quarterback in this NFL. After I was like, man,
I really like him. But Daniel Jones came in ten

for the Ravens. The SEU Buffs. The CU Buffs were

bringing it for Baltimore. Why Lejonte man Wester went off
last night? Western was their best receiver. He had a

He's like, That's what you hear constantly at this time
of the year. Even nobody, nobody cares about these preseason
games unless you're a coach or you're betting on him.
But everybody's always like football's back, baby, And then you
watch it, like the first quarter, you're like, I'm moving on, baka.

If you can guess what the number one NFL cliche
when it comes to training camp is, what would you
say the one thing players always they always say all
these like all the every rookie in the NFL is
currently exceeding expectations, right, every rookie. You ask a coach,
you ask your teammate, Oh man, yeah, he's playing much

better than we thought. He's exceeding expectations. That's a rookie,
he's exceeding expectations, right, That's what that they always say.
That nonsense.

I mean everyone's always talking super Bowl, right, like yes, yes.

You always see it's uh people, because we are so
happy that football is back. We we like a grandize
we prop up just like these average routine plays at camp.

like that, and we're like, that's amazing. But yeah, that's
exactly what happens when training camp comes around. You get

is if there's a new coach, it's a new culture, right,
but we're you know, coach is putting a new culture
in place. But number one on the list is he's
in the best shape of his life. Everybody you ask

is in the best shape of their life. If you're
coming off injury, if you're coming off injury rehabits that
is ahead of expectations, right, rehabs ahead of expectations, and
everybody is in the best shape of their life. That
that's what NFL training camp is all about. But yesterday's
joint practice, how what do you think, baka, what do

you think we're gonna be freaking out about on Monday
morning after this? Get because Broncos camp has been so boring,
so like, you know, so down the numbers, just checklist
kind of thing that I don't know what we're gonna.

something he probably didn't get a lot of credit for
when he was coming out, but you see it every
day and you saw it all last year. That that

that spontaneity in which he plays with and get a
little bit of the backyard feel. It's certainly something that's
really helpful for our offense.

That's what glinch, you're talking about. How Bo can extend
plays is that the one category is that is that
what you guys are focused on, is that what you
want to see from Bow the ability to extend plays
with his feet. I mean, he did last year look good.
At matter of fact, I think that was probably the
one thing that Bo did last year that surprised the city.

the pocket and run with the ball. You're like, dang man,
he's a little more athletic than I thought he was
gonna beat. Right, he looks pretty good out there, So
I like, that's not a category. I think Bo needs

we switched it to the other side of the ball,

if if we were like, what do you think NFL
defenses are gonna focus on when it comes to bow
this season? Like, what what do you think they're gonna

didn't have a running game last year. Maybe you have

take away the run and try to make bow knicks

struggled under pressure last year when operating in the pocket,
but when they ran rollout passing plays, he led the
league in passing game yards attained outside the pocket. So
you want to see Bo and much more the well, listen, man,
I think the offensive line protected him pretty well last year,

are you all? I mean, the game doesn't seem too
fast for bo Right a lot of times, and it
feels that way. We were talking about Anthony Richardson earlier
in the program. It feels like sometimes the NFL game
is going too fast for Richardson, feels like it's going
too fast for Anthony's brain to catch up to it,
and it's why he makes those mistakes. It doesn't feel

that way with bo Right. It doesn't feel like the

what the Broncos offense can do. And the smartest play

If you can average twenty three to twenty five points
per game. I guarantee you this Broncos defense is gonna
