Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of our podcast,
Slow Beauty, Skincare and Self Care for Women forty plus.
I'm your host, Carrie Sharf, and I'm so excited you've
tuned in today. In this episode, we'll be talking about
the internal choices that can really feed your glow. That
includes hydration, skin loving foods, and the importance of rest.
So sit back, relax, and let's get glowing together. Let's

(00:29):
start by talking about hydration, especially how crucial it is
for mature skin. As we age, our skin tends to
lose moisture more rapidly, making it even more important to
stay hydrated. But here's the thing. Hydration shouldn't feel like
an obligation you grudgingly comply with. Instead, let's reframe it
as a nourishing ritual. Imagine it as a moment to

(00:50):
care for yourself, to pause and refresh. One way to
elevate this experience is by incorporating herbal teas into your
daily routine. Some of my favorites are camameal, roibos, nettle,
and rose tea. Not only are they hydrating, but they
also bring a variety of calming and healing benefits. So
here's a little action step for you. Choose one herbal

(01:12):
tea and make it your daily sip this week. Use
it as a moment of quiet and grounding to truly
connect with yourself. Trust me, your skin and spirit will
thank you for it. Now, let's move on to another
essential aspect of nurturing our skin from within our diet.
But here's the important part. It's not about striving for perfection. Instead,

(01:33):
it's about making little choices that add nourishment and joy
to our life. Our skin reflects what we eat in
more ways than one, and incorporating skin loving foods into
our daily regimen can make a huge difference. Some of
my favorite skin boosting foods include avocado, berries, wild salmon
or other omega rich fish, pumpkin seeds, and leafy greens.

(01:54):
These foods are packed with nutrients that can help your
skin stay radiant and healthy. For example, avaca loaded with
healthy fats and vitamin E which hydrate the skin. Berries
are rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals, keeping the
skin youthful and glowy. Omega rich fish like wild salmon
are excellent for maintaining your skin's elasticity. Pumpkin seeds bring

(02:16):
a good dose of zinc, which is great for skin
healing and regeneration. Leafy greens, on the other hand, are
full of vitamins and fiber that aid in detoxification. Now
you might be wondering how you can easily work these
wonderful foods into your diet. Here's a simple action step.
Pick one skin loving food and add it to your
daily meals. It could be as easy as a handful
of berries in your breakfast or delicious slice of avocado toast.

(02:39):
Small consistent choices really do add up over time, so
why not take that step today? All right, now, let's
talk about something that often gets overlooked but is so
vital for both our skin health and overall well being. Rest. Yes,
beautiful people, rest is a sacred ritual that holds immense power,
and its significance is even mentioned in biblical contexts as

(03:01):
a holy act. Taking time to genuinely rest can bring
balance to our lives and rejuvenate our minds and bodies.
Let's explore a few rest rituals you might find easy
to incorporate into your nighttime routine. First, try a simple
five minute wind down. It can be as easy as
sitting quietly and focusing on your breathing, you'd be amazed
at how much calmer and more centered you can feel.

(03:23):
Another lovely ritual is to place a warm cloth over
your face. This soothing sensation can help relax facial muscles
and promote circulation. Turning off screens at least an hour
before bed can significantly improve your sleep quality. We're often
over stimulated by the blue light from our devices, and
giving our eyes a break can do wonders. If you're

(03:43):
spiritually inclined, a quiet moment of prayer or expressing gratitude
can also be incredibly grounding. And of course, a slow,
intentional nighttime skincare ritual is always a good idea. Taking
the time to clean and nurture your skin can be
deeply comforting and is a perfect way to end the
day on a positive note. So here's your action step.

(04:04):
Choose one of these rest rituals to try before you
go to bed tonight. Just one small change can make
a huge difference in how you feel and look. Your
skin will love you for it. So let's bring it
all together, shall we. We've covered three simple steps to
enhance your inner and outer glow. Sipping on nourishing herbal tea,
adding glow, giving foods to your diet, and incorporating calming

(04:27):
rest rituals into your nighttime routine. It might seem like
a lot, but remember small, consistent actions can lead to
significant changes. When you hydrate with a soothing herbal tea,
nourish your body with skin loving foods, and give yourself
the gift of proper rest, You're not just taking care
of your skin, You're nurturing your whole being. These small steps,

(04:47):
when practiced regularly, compound in their benefits, making you look
and feel radiant from the inside out. Let's close with
a quiet moment. Lord, thank you for the bodies you've
given us, for the beauty that it grows with time.
Help us choose nourishment over perfection, rest over rushing, and
your peace over pressure. Amen. If you want deeper support,

(05:11):
journaling pages, skincare rhythms, faith centered self care, and a
community of women walking this same journey, I'd love for
you to join me inside oil and light. It's where
we go deeper together. Check out the show notes for
a link. Beautiful friend, May you glow gently this week
and from the inside out. Thank you for tuning in today.
