In this episode of Plants, Flowers, Oils & Whimsy, I’m sharing an introspective look at the art of coziness—how warmth and connection go far beyond soft blankets and glowing candles. True coziness, I’ve learned, lives in the quiet moments of peace, presence, and gratitude where we feel God most near.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of our podcast, Plants, Flowers,
Oils and Whimsy. I'm Carrie Sharf and I'm so glad
you're joining me today as we explore something I've come
to treasure more and more with time, the art of coziness.
Let's settle in and journey together into moments of warmth
and presence that remind us we are held by God
even as life shifts around us. Hello, my friend, Welcome

(00:27):
back to Plants, Flowers, Oils and Whimsy. I'm Carrie, and
today we're talking about something I've come to treasure more
and more with time, the art of coziness. Not just
cozy sweaters or soft blankets, but cozy for the soul,
those small moments of warmth, stillness, and presence that remind
us were held by God even as the seasons of
our lives begin to change. As I've grown older, I've

(00:51):
realized that cozy living isn't about filling our homes with things.
It's about creating moments that make space for peace. A
warm cup of tea before the sun rise is a
candle glowing quietly beside your bible. A soft blanket pulled
around your shoulders while you pray. These small comforts become
invitations to pause, breathe, and meet with God right where

(01:11):
we are. A few nights ago, I sat with my
tea and opened the psalms. The only light in the
room came from a single candle. For a moment, everything slowed.
The world felt still, and in that stillness I felt
the gentle presence of God, steady and near. That's the
kind of coziness I'm talking about today, the kind that

(01:31):
settles not just into your home, but into your spirit.
As we grow older, we start to understand that warmth
isn't only about temperature. It's also about connection. It's the
warmth of a friend's voice, the comfort of a quiet
dinner shared with someone you love, the light that fills
your home when you invite peace inside. Simple rituals can

(01:52):
help us keep that warmth alive. Lighting candles at dusk,
writing a note of encouragement to a friend, sharing a
pot of tea with thin someone who needs company. Jesus
said in Matthew five p. Sixteen. Let your light shine
before others, that they may see your good deeds and
glorify your Father in heaven. Light has a way of spreading.
When we create moments of warmth and connection, we reflect

(02:14):
God's light into a world that deeply needs it. Our
world tells us to keep rushing, to stay busy, to
always do more. But I've learned that radiance doesn't come
from hurry. It comes from peace. When we slow down,
we begin to see beauty again. We notice how sunlight
falls across the table. We feel gratitude for the cup
of tea in our hands. We sense God's quiet presence

(02:37):
in the middle of our ordinary moments. Aging gives us
permission to slow down, to listen, to notice, to savor.
It's like skin care for the soul. Just as our
skin glows when we nourish it, our spirits glow when
we rest, pray and let God renew us. Maybe this
week you could light a candle, sip something warm, and

(02:57):
simply thank God for the life He's given you, right here,
right now. Before we close, I'd like to leave you
with a few gentle reflections. Journal Prompt one, Where do
you feel God's warmth in your life right now? Journal
prompt too, How can you create small rituals of light
and comfort in your daily rhythm? And a final thought,

(03:21):
God's comfort is like the soft glow of a candle, steady,
quiet and always near. If today's episode spoke to your heart,
I'd love for you to subscribe to Plants, Flowers, Oils
and Whimsy and join my membership Oil and Light. Each
week I share a skincare and soul care herbal guide,
simple recipes, reflections and rituals to help you slow down

(03:43):
and shine from within until next time. May your days
be filled with warmth, peace, and the gentle light of
His presence. This has been Plants, Flowers, Oils and Whimsy
with carry Sharp. Remember to check the show notes for
details on the resources mentioned and for more content like
the Skincare and Soul Care Herbal Guide from Oil and Light.

(04:04):
Wishing you continued warmth and peace until our next encounter
