This month’s Smut Tea Stories topic is Bear Shifters! We’ve got a lot to cover this episode so buckle up buttercups! From polar bear hybrid billionaire aliens, to raccoons destroying a bakery, to getting folded like origami by a lumbersnack and even found family sweetness we’ve got you covered! We’ll also be talking about a charity anthology we’ve been a part of, the books we read for the month on our theme, some changes to the podcast formatting, and what we’re up to in our bookish lives!

We hope your Thanksgiving is BEAR-able, and if not, well, you can always listen to US be unhinged instead of your family. We’re far more entertaining.

We are, without a doubt, three trash cats in a trench coat guzzling coffee next to a dumpster fire while our Executive Producer tosses candy at us to keep the chaos going. A Coven of Critters, if you will.

(00:00):
Buckle up, Buttercups a writer andeditor, and wat walk into any book
story and start podcast because why thefuck God? Hello, and welcome to
our second episode of Smutty Stories podcast, where three trash cats in a trench

(00:22):
coat talk about smutty books. Sobuckle up, Buttercup, there's fuckery to
spread and talk about. I amthe Apossum. Carlota Hughes. Hello,
I'm an author and illustrator. I'mJersey, and I am the raccoon,
always exhausted mom. Hi, howyou don't I'm chin, I am the

(00:43):
skunk. I am the editor andalso always exhausted mom and a teacher in
my normal life, and also soanxious that you would spray people if you
had the capacity. True, true, True. So today is our second
episode and we're going to be talkingabout bear shifters. But before we get

(01:06):
into that, we wanted to remindeveryone to please support the I Am the
Fire Anthology. It is a anthologyof thirty three plus stories by various authors,
some of them USA Today bestselling authors, and all of the proceeds are
going to go to the National Networkof Abortion Funds. So it is a
limited charity anthology that will last throughJanuary. It would make a great gift

(01:32):
for those of you in your familyand wish lists people that support bodily autonomy
and reproductive rights, or gave itto people that don't support body autonomy and
reproductive rights and teach them a lesson. I mean them, do it,
you know, but not not wrong. And a couple of cool things about
the I Am the Fire Anthology.I have a short in it called Sharon's

(01:53):
Honeybee. Jersey did some beta readingand I actually edited did a bunch of
the stories I did. I editeda bunch of too many actually too many
of the stories, yeah, whichwas great. It was a really fun
way to experience a bunch of differentauthors. So if you are looking like
to find a new author to doa deep dive on, trying them out

(02:15):
through the anthology is definitely definitely worthyour while. So I loved editing it
and getting to experience it. Solast month we did not get to finish
Farrell by Trish Heinrich, and sothis month we decided that we would make
sure that we always if we hypeup an author in a book that we

(02:36):
are going to read, that wewill read that book. And so we
read Farrell this month and it isa werewolf, and so we're going to
be talking about the distinction between werewolvesand shifters because they're two very different things.
So werewolf, if you did notknow, they do not choose when
they change. They change with thiscycle of the moon. When it is

(02:59):
the full moon, they are shiftinginto the werewolf, whereas a shifter can
change at will, and they areborn that way. So what they shift
into, whether it be wolf, orbear, what other shifters are out their
cat or their cat shifters, Yes, all right, they get to choose
when they shift, and they areborn that way, and they're always a

(03:20):
shifter, which is different than ananimagus animegus and agus animegus who they have
to go through an extensive potion situationand they get to pick what animal they
are going to change into, andthen they can change into that animal it
will. So those are your kindof three variations. And the animegus is

(03:42):
um JK. Rowling invention I believe, and the other two are pretty commonly
accepted in the Fantasy universe. Sowe finished Feral this month, which is
book one of Trish Heinrichs M.Monsters and Artifacts book, and this is
a werewolf with a human woman andat first we start with a fake dating,

(04:04):
fake dating trope love that UM,and then he finds out that she
is his true mate. And thisis a very spacy and has a lot
of the tropes that I enjoy, and it one of them being that I
didn't even know as a trope UMwhen I found out was a trope very
early, which is a primal chasing. I love primal chasing. I don't

(04:28):
know why, maybe we should getinto that, but he I mean with
the werewolf, they have sex whenhe's in his human form, and then
eventually they have sex when he's inhis werewolf form, and that's where we
have the primal wol chasing come in. And I at first was like,
I don't know if I a handleof this. Yes, I can handle

(04:49):
this. I highly recommend. Um. It's not too much, especially if
you're not as new to the monsterfucking as I am. Highly recommend Trish.
And she has another one UM Ibelieve called Bound that is already out
as well, UM that I recommendthat. UM. The bound Bound is

(05:12):
UM A f mm, what Ahow do you do the letters? I
think it's an MFM. I'm notsure. Yeah, I think what is
the difference, Carlotta, The differencewould be who's in the relationship and would
dynamic I guess. So if theif it's two two guys that don't want

(05:32):
to, you know, cross swords, and the F is in the middle,
then so it's like a female sandwich. So well yeah, and then
if it's like m m F,it could be that it's the the two
male characters and one of them orboth of them are involved with the the
female character woman character. I don'tknow. We could be talking about alien

(05:54):
females or monster females a half.Or if it's like f MM, it's
like the email and one mail, and but then like the guys involved with
another guy, and it could belike f MM. It could be so
it's like it's it's basically trying tolay out in letters what the polyamorous relationship

(06:15):
looks like. So on the coverit goes and then f M. So
yeah, she's she's cluing you inas to what this is going to be.
I did not know that the orderof the letters meant anything until this
very moment. So you so thatis Ferrell recommend. It's available on Ku

(06:40):
and then bound as the second oneand is also available on Ku. They're
part of the same universe and partof the same series, So Trish,
thank you for that, and thankyou for being patient with us as we
figure out what the fuck we're doing. Yes, so this month we're talking
about bear shifters because they're awesome, and um, we're also talking about bear
hybrids, which so the difference betweenbear shifter is somebody who looks like a

(07:06):
person and can shift into a bearback and forth at will whenever, and
then a bear hybrid is somebody whohas the traits of both. And in
this instance of one of the booksthat was read this month, it is
a a being will say that looksmostly like a man, however, is

(07:28):
covered in fern, has bare ears, right, I think, yeah,
uh and uh depending on mood, his eyes changed from more man to more
bear and that that is that isbear shifters. And we should definitely get
started. Which book do we wantto start with first? Ladies want to

(07:48):
start with Amy Wrights book? Sure, So for this month I read Amy
Writes Alien Billionaires Assistant. I loveAmy Writes. Other series that I've been
reading but this is her first inthe Billionaire series, and this is a
polar Bear hybrid. I have neverread a billionaire romance because most of those

(08:09):
tend to be contemporary romances which takeplace on Earth, and I don't tend
to read books that take place onEarth because nobody wants to be on Earth
really, So when Amy Wright cameout with a billionaire romance that did not
take place on planet Earth, andI already knew that I liked Amy Wright,
I was like, SI met thefuck up. So this is a
kind of a playboy polar Bear whogets kicked out of his family to go

(08:35):
and kind of earn his own keepfor a while because he's just wasted too
much of the family money and beentoo irresponsible, which I will admit is
not my trope. I'm like,I don't like you. You're a waste
of my life. Like really, like Amy is great. This is the
second time she's done this to mewhere I'm like, I do not like
this man, I don't want tobe friends with him, and I'm like,

(08:58):
I'm gonna keep reading it, andshe she gets me to keep reading
it and I do, and I'mlike okay, because then he like falls
for his girl so hard and you'rejust like ye look um. And so
he hires UM, this poor humangirl UM who's essentially homeless UM and trying
to make her way UM as hisassistant. But he has no idea what
an assistant does, and has noidea how to treat in an assistant.

(09:22):
UM. She shows up and he'sin bed, and he's just like,
just make things work, and likebear functioning as an adult human would be
like helpful to him. And soshe's like, I can make this work,
um, And of course they fallin love UM and uh spiciness ensues

(09:45):
and he is a bear hybrid,so we have nodding and this is a
a different kind of nodding than Ihad experienced. UM. Once she's exposed
to his uh seman, she hasto take his knot um otherwise like it's
not good. And then once shetakes it's not like it's so much for
her. She passes out and likethat sounds not fun, but it's actually

(10:07):
very fun. So sounds like agood time to me. Um, not
a long time, but a goodtime. Actually. Yeah. She's like,
I promise what we can go longer? And then she like passes out
after round one like both times,Um, hey, um, which time?

(10:28):
Like, good for you girl?Um, so it's I I would
I could go into it further, but I don't want to give away the
entire plot of Like, but they'relike with the same billionaire trope. You're
going to see how his family reactsto this. Not only is she poor,
but now she's human. She's notshe's not a bare hybrid like him,
and so his family is not acceptingand we see kind of how he

(10:52):
responds to that. And there isa very spicy epilogue that takes place in
a giant pool. Um, anduh, these bears hibernate during their mating
season and um, I I thinkI need to go read it again.
Do you guys see you Okay?Well, I mean we need you to

(11:15):
finish the podcast with us first, but after that we won't stop. I'm
just thinking about the pool and thebathsub scene, and I'm just like I
I'm you know, we've we've allread a new Yeah, hey, authors
loved the bathtub, the stream whatever, don't never stop writing that. Don't

(11:37):
ever stop writing that. Or inthe rain yep oh rain Carlotta, um
the rain and the baths. You'rewelcome. Yeah, yes, thank you.
So that is Amy Writes book thatwe read, highly recommend Um.
I finished it in one sitting.Um. I did finish it at two

(11:58):
am, which was a super bummerfor me because that means my husband's snoring
next to me, and I'm justlike, I guess I'm going to bed.
The book that I chose this monthis Bearing a Bakery by Liz Paffel.
It is the first book in theSDS Park Bear Shifters series. And
they're they're they're nice, little shortlittle candies, num num numbs. Um.

(12:20):
I loved it a lot because,okay, okay, it's got it's
got a lot of troops that Ilike in it. Um. I love
the hilarity of it because it startsout that this this poor entrepreneur, she's
having a very hard time with herbakery, and raccoons somehow get into her

(12:48):
bakery and destroy it, like destroyit, and there's like water damage and
all sorts of stuff. Well, they were eating the ceiling tiles. We
were reading the case. I knowwhy you even feeling tile. That's bad
for you. I'm mongering. She'slow and iron. It's the craunch for

(13:13):
you. That was the cutest littlemini girl. Okay. Um, but
there was a lot to this book. It was only like one hundred and
fifty something pages something like that onmy reader. But it was very sweet.

(13:33):
The characters actually were very well doneand rounded out for the length of
the book. Um, there washeat time, so the okay, outside
of outside of the entrepreneur who's human, her dad who is a very sweet,
supportive dad who's a little bit moreinvolved in her business than he probably

(13:54):
should be. Um, hires acontractor who the contractor loves the sticky buns
that she makes. Um. Andit's his son that comes in to do
the contracting and they don't know eachother. He has no idea that she
makes sticky butts that his dad likes. It's cute, um. And it's

(14:16):
like immediate attraction, immediate and alot of silly little slapstick things. Um.
So it's install love. Um.There's the male character is very flirty.
The female characters like determined not tofall for it because she has like
a bear shifter X who is bearshifter X yeah, who is not who

(14:41):
is not an alpha evidently and asan asshole and a stalker. Um,
there's faded mates, there's it's likebecause bear shifters don't technically have a not,
but it's sort of the same conceptas nodding. It's like just being
stuck in there for a while tomake sure the baby batter takes UM.

(15:03):
Should we explain nodding for people thatare new to this episode, Oh yeah,
that's true. UM, okay,So nodding essentially it means that UM,
after the deed and the orgasm andejaculate, you just hang out in
there for a little while. You'rejust you're stuck. You're stuck together for

(15:24):
a little bit technically with with anactual like knot that's along the shaft at
the penis, but um, andif there's not not, it's basically you're
just staying inside to make sure thatbaby batter turns into a bun in the
oven. Very bakery appropriate. Yeah, right right, very very nice darling.

(15:48):
Yeah. Also, this book hasUM. It's a happily ever after,
which of course we love here.UM. The one thing that I
okay, as someone with disability,it is very rare to find UM an
author who writes disabilities disabled characters insuch a way that it's not a negative.

(16:14):
That it's not some sort of putdown or like, oh that poor
thing. No, this was welldone. I highly appreciated the side character
who had as an arcilepsy, andso it's like occasionally we'll fall asleep and
she jokes about it, and thateveryone treats her like they let her,

(16:34):
they let her do things without tryingto baby her and then and support her,
and it's it's nice. Good disabilityrep. Good disability rep. I
appreciate it, but uh yeah,it's definitely open for more. There's more
in the series. Um, Ithink there's four books. I despite was

(17:00):
nice, the spice was nice.I am definitely the truck scene in the
truck cab yep, now I needto go read it because it's you get
she gets into a heat and shehas to have it. Now, so
what happens in a heat? Yeah? Yeah, I shouldn't clarify with Amy

(17:22):
right, like I might not beusing her vocabulary right with regard to like
what happens like not heat, likewhatever the knot comes out, like it
has to happen, so it startsthe heat for her, Yeah, I
think, yeah, yeah, yeah, it initiates the heat. Yeah yeah,
I'm I'm I'm new to all theterms. We haven't talked about what
a heat is, Okay, wecan talk about that. Heat essentially is

(17:45):
a period of time where you haveto do the deep. You are so
horny. It's horny to the extreme. They think of think of the movie
Crank, right where he's god tokeep his like adrenaline high enough he doesn't
die. He sucks his girlfriend infront of like a like like that,

(18:10):
Like you cannot stop, you cannothelp it. It has to happen right
now. It doesn't matter who isaround. You can try to get somewhere
safe. Doesn't always work, doesn'talways I like, I just feel like,
okay, so I'm the one herethat's from La and I know nothing.
I have never even seen or heardof the movie Crank, and I
don't have a well known movie.Okay. It just has a really well

(18:33):
known actor in it. Um,that's all. I grew up on action
flicks, a lot of them, give me too. Yeah, Yeah,
it's it's known for that scene andJason Statham. That's what it's known for.
I've seen Jason Statham in person.See bitch at a at a bakery
in Malibu, a bakery I knowwhere's the buck there. It's gonna be

(19:00):
a book on that. Damn it. He's much Oh no, I know
that man is tiny, but heis really gorgeous. If he's shorter than
me, yeah, he's any pittysweetie. Yeah. So that means I
would be the lumber snack. Yes, yes, yes, um but you
guys have just convinced me I'm inthe middle of my orc um lumber Snack

(19:25):
book that we're going to be havinga heat situation in a in a cave.
Yes, the one trope, Yes, level one cave trope. It's
so much better than a one bedtrope um not, which is also um
yeah yeah. If I had topick though, it's a one horse trope

(19:47):
or one horselike creature, which Idid for sure. And sunny Bee Yeah
yeah, I remember that one.Yeah, that's out and I am the
fire. Yeah it is an eyeon the fire. Yep. Hmm a
good scene. Writing that was likea fucking fever dream. I put so
many weird jokes and you put somuch in that short story. I tried

(20:14):
cut it out, cut it out, No, not the spice. Cut
everything but the spice. We don'tneed to know who they are. He
wants for you too, just justshorten every all of this information down to
one paragraph, like maybe three sentences. And I'm like, how you need
to take this three pages a paragraph? It's fine, but this five pages

(20:40):
of smut just together, that needsto stay. Don't change it. I
said, we can combine one smutscene. I just make it. You
did do that, yeah, yeah, yeah, because I had to like
shortened like three pages of it,like lead up. I'm not happy about

(21:03):
that. And by the way,it's a saphic story. Just in case
anybody's wondering between an orc and ahuman beekeeper, You're welcome just to review
a few terms. Saphic means womenloving women. It's the romantic aspect of
being lesbian. And then there's umBBW, which is a big beautiful woman

(21:25):
and that is for all of ourplus sized readers, and that is something
I personally enjoy and I enjoy writing. So yes, anyway, hi that
but oh and also the main femalecharacter, excuse me, and baron a
bakery is she's not plus sized, but she's curby, which is nice.

(21:48):
Okay, brack up, alrighty,I'm gonna have to add that to my
TVR. Now my TBR hates,right, I don't have a tv R.
I have, I have vibes. What is that like? It's not
good for when you get arcs.Honestly, it's very stressful. You're like,

(22:11):
this arc does not hit my vibes. I don't know. I've I've
got. My style is a manicsquirrel hibernating, like gathering nuts for winter.
I have so many books that Iwill probably never read, but I
just keep collecting books because I likebooks. Yeah, the the the act
of obtaining the books versus is theact of reading the books, two very

(22:37):
separate hobbies. It's it is thewallpaper I've always wanted because it's constant stories
that I can dive into at anymoment. It's it's the best wallpaper.
Yes, books, yes see.The thing is I found now that I
when I go to the bookstore becauselike Barnes and Noble doesn't really carry indie
authors. Um, I don't.Actually they have started to. You just

(22:57):
have to look. I there's nota lot that I want to purchase.
I'm like where like I'm like I'lltake this Katie Robert, sure, but
like and then Ruby Dixon and thenlike that's where it stops. And they're
indie authors are gonna be on thenook. Yeah, so I can't put
the nook back here. No,but you can't get like you can make

(23:21):
a little many figure or whatever.I've seen people do it on TikTok.
They take a little wood block andprint out on sticker paper the cover and
they make I do crafts. Youwant me to do stickcrafts? You do
pople Um what Well? The thingis is that in a lot of big

(23:42):
bookstores like Books a Million and Barnesand Noble, they have their TikTok tables.
So it's all the books that aretrending on TikTok. Like that's how
I initially got a copy of offrom Blood and Ash. Um I think
got ready yet? Um? Whatis books a mill a really big as

(24:02):
bookstore My mom used to work thankingI'm sorry it is. It is a
very big bookstore. Um, itis a book chain that is mostly what
Midwest to the South. Yeah.Yeah, because Um, when I was
living in North Carolina, there werebooks of millions. Um. Yeah,
when we lived in Little Rock,my mom was she wasn't quite a manager,

(24:25):
but she was more respected than afew of them. Is this a
manager? No, she she didn'ther words, this is my mother's words.
I never want to be a chief. I'll stay a little Indian.
That's racist. We're welcome to mymother. Did you just you just heard,

(24:48):
like both Jennifer and I just cringingasked that, like, oh dear
god. Yeah. Added to thefact that my high school mascot is the
Indians yves hows wow, like cowsliterally really, well, that's better.
I would take hows. But atleast at least my high school changed it

(25:11):
to Pride, which is Lions. And I'm sitting here going this is a
Catholic school and you called it Pride. Yeah. I was like, that's
very forward of you. I guessthe new pope is like really inspiring you
guys. Fuck Finally, anyway, moving on, Yeah, so Folk Similian

(25:32):
is just really really stupidly big.I just I've seen it on TikTok and
I always thought it was Canadian becausewe only have Barnes and Noble on the
West coast. No, it's it'slike the difference between um waffle house and
I h yeah, no waffle Houseon the West Coast either, Exactly.
It's the same but different. Nono, no, no, no no,

(26:00):
it's more waffle house, no denaflehouse, Denny's and then ihop.
That's that's fair because a waffle houseis where like okay, which it happens
at two am? That it's likethis is transdimensional, like what is going
on here? And you're so usedto it and expecting it you just don't

(26:22):
pay attention to it anymore. Right, Yeah, it's like it's like,
what are we on the sixth dimension? Right now? Okay, that's fine,
you know what, just just giveme my waffles and iyeah. You
go to waffle house at like twoor three o'clock in the morning, you're
expecting a gunfight and a knife fightand then somebody drunk in a corner and
you just sitting there eating your waffleshaving a good time. And I thought
it was like a like a sexbehind a waffle house. Okay, basically

(26:48):
anything you can think of bad couldhappen at two am around waffles. Okay,
yeah, quick story. Denny's,no ihop. We have friends from
England, the one to go toeye hop so bad because they've heard about
the American pancakes. They don't haveAmerican pancakes in England. Okay, cool,
So we get there. He getsa stack of pancakes that has the
big like scoop of butter on it, and he thinks, because he's European,

(27:11):
that it's whipped cream. So hejust puts the entire thing in his
mouth and it's like, let mejust yeah, that's butter Russ Sorry.

(27:32):
Like Denny's. Denny's is where yougo to have a sword fight in the
parking lot and you watch a seagulllike fight god for half a French fry.
Yeah. What waffa House? Theyhave their own system for keeping track
of the weather and when waffle Housecloses, yeah, everybody closes. Yeah

(27:55):
right, So did see waffle Housestayed open during the pandemic. They put
shower curtains between the booths. Thatseems very waffle House. It's very waffle
House. If if waffle House closesduring a hurricane, then you know it's
it's a bad hurricane coming. Justsay shower create It's like, yeah,
I'm sure to do something, allright. It's very waffle It is odd

(28:18):
brand for waffle House absolutely. Okay, so someone needs to write a waffle
House shifter. Um, well, what does that mean where it's like,
I'm gonna fourteen werewolf is behind awaffle house dumpster? Like I'm sure that
it's just on AO three. Okay, Okay, So if it's a waffle

(28:41):
house shifter, it's got to bea possum, a possum that lives in
the dumpster and eats the waffles andthen shifts Buba Jays. It's a high
really, dude, Yet his nameis Babba Jay and he's missing teeth yeah
yeah, from all of the fightsfor the waffles, and he's had other

(29:04):
critters. Um, all right,Jersey, you want to tell us about
your book? Yes, this onewas by ts choice. It was called
Bear My Soul and it is thefirst one out of three so far.
I think in fire Bears they're exmilitary firefighter bear shifters. Yes, fair

(29:25):
nice um. This one starts offwith a woman who is desperately trying to
figure out how to handle her fiveyear old son who happens to be a
bear shifter. And she doesn't understandhow it happened, where that came from,
because she had a one night standwith somebody who said somebody else's name

(29:47):
in bed. Oh oh yes, yes, So she figured this is not
good, so she figured she'd bowout gracefully and just run off. Can
god pregnant? And she realized muchtoo late she was pregnant, and when
she finally got up the courage tocome talk to him, her son shifted
for the first times. Like,I don't know if he will be able

(30:10):
to handle that. I don't knowwhat's happening. I'm going to protect my
son and keep him over here. But he's gotten to a point where she
can't handle him by herself anymore. So she has to go find the dad,
and he convinces her to stick aroundfor a little bit. It's like
I missed out on the first fiveyears. Let me help you, let

(30:34):
me be apart, let me helpAnd they agree to just nothing with each
other, just friends, just takecare of the boy. And obviously that
works so well. So this oneis the second chance romance. Ha,
Like I said, So he andhis brothers, his entire family, they're

(30:57):
all bear shifters and they protect theirsection of the world in California. Oh
really, I think it's California.I don't remember where they are. I
am a bad person. But sohe and his family, they are all

(31:18):
firefighters. They take care of thelocal area that way, and they also
help with charities and making sure everybody'sthe general community is taken care of.
But it's really sweet and his familyjust kind of adopts her because her mom
said, if you're going to havethe baby, then I never want to
see you again. And that wasother than her mom's sister, who is

(31:41):
all for her having this kid andtaking care of her. That is,
she has no other family, soshe gets completely adopted and taken care of
by all of these fair shifters andit's very sweet. And he teaches his
son how to be a shifter withoutattacking mom. Seems reasonable. It's you

(32:05):
know, she doesn't need any morescars, oh dear, well, he
needs fine. He's had to figureout how to do how to do the
shift. She's had to try andfigure out how to do the shift,
and all she's been able to reallyfigure out. It's like, okay,
I need to contain him so hedoesn't get out and people know who he
is. So poor thing. Hegot put into a cage. It was

(32:29):
very set. But the family helpsher just breathe so she can relax,
and he they all help him sohe can figure out I am safe,
I am okay, what I amis not bad? Yeah, and a
lot of feelings for a bear shifters. And there there's there's a government agency
involves using the family to their owngains, so that you know they have

(32:53):
supernatural beings on their side. Andin the military. Yeah, they they
forced them to do a couple oftours in the Middle East. Sounds like
us joy, sounds like Americans. It's definitely an American concept. Yeah,
but they have to figure out howto deal with the government agency while also

(33:15):
figuring out how to be a family. And it's very cute. I liked
it a lot, and I lookforward to reading the rest. I have
to tell you, I am nota fan of second chance romance because it's
just like me. It's like, you fuck up, I'm gone and you'll
never see me again. So totallyunderstandable. But this one. I normally
don't like the second chance romance stuff, but this one, this one,

(33:37):
I liked. This one was good. I would read this one from everything
that you've said, because it doessound like it's it's very sweet. Yeah.
This one was between one hundred twohundred and fifty pages digitally and it
doesn't take much time, and itis. It's very cute, and I
think both of you would appreciate it. It's funny you say you don't like

(33:58):
second chance romans, because I've onlyever read one and it was also the
same thing where I I I don'tDNF a lot, but I'll get really
angry at a character and I'll belike what the fuck? And so as
soon as I figure out that it'sa second chance romance, I'm like,
I hate you. I'm still readingthis, but I hate you. So

(34:20):
there's there's just something about it.It's like the there's already so much pain
that it's like, yeah, wellI go back to it. But for
something like it was a one nightstand like that, that feels like it's
okay, like that that's doable.Yeah, I would be doable. Reason
Yeah. Reasonable. It's like oneof those like bully like Werewolf ones with

(34:44):
the omega's and like they were reallymistreated and then it's a second chance romance.
I'm like, girl, no runyeah no. Um. And that's
the other thing is you said thatyours was Carlotta an install love, and
I know a lot of people don'tlike that. I person and only love
that. I don't. I don'tusually want to wait four hundred pages for
them to get together. Thanks,it wasn't four hundred pages, ma'am five

(35:15):
less um. It's okay. Yougave us the scene in the cave in
the beginning. I lived on thatfor four hundred pages. It's fine.
Oh. And also the one inthe past when he was having a fun
time there that was solo fun though, it was so fun. Yeah,

(35:38):
and she had a solo and youknow, uh huh. And then I
gave you how many chapters back toback of pure on. I gave you
three chapters of fucking like oral andshit, and then another three chapters of
like serious hardcore bantting. I toldyou, I have said this from the

(36:01):
beginning. Like it may be aslow burn in terms of its sticking a
while to get there, it's agood payoff. Yes, dear, we're
picking at you, but we shoulddefinitely pull out that. I gave you
three chapters of Oral to use forTikTok. Clear, you're not wrong.

(36:28):
We should. We totally should.So. Owen is by author ELM.
Drew and she has a like aWerewold Shifter series as well, and um
Owen is the first in this oneparticular series, and it is very much
a um It is very much alumber snack situation, and there's instant attraction.

(36:52):
It is. It's got its littlefunny parts and I there's a big
focus on communication, which I reallyappreciate it. And there's also a lot
of little awkward, silly moments thathappened between them that is very realistic that
I appreciate. Is very good spice, beautiful stretching and stuffing, yeah,

(37:19):
nodding. This particular park is onethat we all read together. So this
was my first. I read thisfirst this month. This was my first
ever bare shifter and which, likeI said, I haven't read shifters that
much because I don't tend to likebooks that take place on planet Earth.
But this, having read this now, I think I would be more open

(37:40):
to it because it's so little ofPlanet Earth, like I expected to be
like a stressed about real life things, like she lives in a little like
Hamlet that's on the outskirts of society, so it's not like we're stressed about
like the news or traffic or anythinglike that. It's yeah, yeah,
that's yeah, And that's fine.Um, but so this so I do

(38:08):
not read the trigger warnings usually becauseI'm a bad human. Um So I
checked these this time because I wasgoing into turning a new genre, you
know that. Ever since I endedup in a poly relationship that I didn't
know I signed up for, I'vedecided to start reading the warning smart boat,

(38:30):
smart boath absolutely m So this isthe first that had um stuffing and
stretching, which I had to goover to our Empress and be like,
um, man, I don't knowwhat that is. Can you explain please,
So Carlotta, if you want toexplain what that is? Okay.

(38:52):
The stretching part is enjoying that feelingthat skirts the edge of pain, want
to particular, grothy cock is insertedinto an orifice. And then stuffing,
of course, is trying to putas much of it inside of you as
possible, even if it hits yourcervix or goes past your cervix. Wait,

(39:14):
if it goes past your service, where's it going into your womb where
the baby man goes? You can'tdo that. I don't know this shit
I've read, Okay, So afterchecking with the Empress on this, I
have read stretching and stuffing. Ihave never had it described that way as

(39:35):
as such, many of the alienromances have this like it won't fit.
We have to like work towards gettingit to fit, like woman has to
like work up to this. ButI had never seen that specific warning.
I think Silian Drew was the firsttime I've ever seen it either. And
I really like that she specifically saidthat, because yes, it is a

(40:00):
kink. I like, sometimes it'strigger warnings and sometimes it's a menu.
And now I know when I'm lookingat the menu. Yeah. Um,
there's another series that I'm reading rightnow that definitely has quite an emphasis on
stretching and stuffing that I I amhere for. So I liked about this.

(40:22):
Um. The the LM. Drewis that he is older, and
he has it seems that like beershifters, they don't generally do faded mates.
That's more of a wolf shifter situation. But he is not interested in
like a hidden and quittit situation, and so he hasn't um. He hasn't

(40:44):
found anybody, and he hasn't reallylooked for anybody. He's lived kind of
a lonely beer existence. And Iwas sad for him from the get go,
Like I was like, that waswhat he was doing, is living
the bare necessities up up in thefucking woods in his cabin up on yep.

(41:06):
Yeah. And so then you haveour our female main character who moves
to the small town for a quietlife. Um was just doing a career
that got her by and wanted somethingdifferent and wanted a man, and so
bing bang boom, and I amif y'all are not a fan of instant
attraction, like you should be instantbeautiful. One of the things I really

(41:32):
appreciated is that Cordelia, the mainfemale character, was like, I know
exactly what I want. I'm goingto this podime place. I'm going to
find me a lumber snack and I'mgoing to he will be mine. And
she is a BBW and she islike She's like, I'm fucking hot,

(41:54):
I am down for sex. Ifuck and like she's very open about that
and what she wants, which isfantastic because so there's there's usually so much
shame, unlike around what you want. Yeah, and she's just like,
I just I want to have sex. I want it, I want your

(42:15):
dick, and I love that theywould she first discover sees a bear shifter.
She almost hits him with the withthe truck she borrows, screams and
then he like she's screaming and thenhe just turns into a human and she's
like, called down, it's andshe's just riving it on his cock.

(42:37):
She's like, holy fuck, thatwould stretch me so good, and she
does doesn't even she doesn't register what'shappened. She thinks she's dreaming, which
she cock bedazzled and so and itdoesn't kick it until after he fucks her
real good, which is nice.Oh I just fucked a bear. U.
Yeah. She's like in the bathroomhaving an existential crisis, like what

(43:00):
huh. She's like, I'll havea panic attack later, and then she's
having with antic attack and he's likeit's okay. What I loved was that
he was the awkward one. It'sall almost every story, the guy is
the one who's super confident, superjust fully understanding of who he is,
what he wants, what he's goingfor. This time it was so not

(43:20):
that, and it was so cute. It was like he sees her,
there's instant rats like I want that, but craps, she saw me red.
He did that multiple times. Hejust was like, I have to
leave now, this is too much. I must go. Yeah. It
starts off with just staring at herand then bolting and then high and then

(43:45):
bolting, and then my name isOhen and then it's like, sweetie,
just conversation, had mistake, youget talk damn it. And then no,
no, my favorite part, oneof my favorite parts. She picks.
She makes them a picknic basket andI'm like, oh and I just

(44:14):
pull went my husband, who's sittingright next to sweet Are you okay good?
I just felt I was like, after the third time he ran,
I was like, if you juststayed there, she would probably just like
sit on your lap, like juststop running away, like stop moving,

(44:36):
she'd mount you right now. Basically, yeah, I could have mounted him
in the store if there wasn't Yes, yes, And she knows what she
wants and he is what she wants, and then so she's willing to like
wait for him to like and shedeals with his awkwardness really well. Like
he says he's gonna come back.I'm gonna agree that he like, I'm

(44:58):
gonna believe that he comes back, and he does. He comes back and
he's still just as awkward, butshe's like, Okay, well he gave
me his shirt, so that seemslike a good sign, right. I
love the fact that too, isthat he's not he's not like a ripped
guy, but he's more of likea power builder guy where it's it's not
like that high definition that you usuallysee with like wear shifters, like not

(45:22):
where wolf shifters, but it's thatlike strong powerlifter, Like he's got the
belly and like the big foot, muscular m he could easily pick her up,
throw over his shoulder and just gobigger than I think that's something that
women really like about the bear shiftersand the bigger dude is like they want

(45:45):
to be tossed around, and abigger woman can be tossed around by a
bear shifter. So would love thatsix foot tall BBW. Yes, same
same. I am the small, small baby of the group at five to
seven. That's not shart um.So I got ruined. I got ruins

(46:09):
in early in early college. Yeah, because I went to Van's warp tour
Hawthorne Heights. Okay, we're playing, and they were like, okay,
so we're gonna do a mosh pit. There's a lot of you know,
girls in the in the crowd andstuff, and you know, if they
fall down in the mosh pit,you pick them up. Um, we
want to make sure that they're safe. And so they created a mosh pit

(46:30):
just for the girls to just runaround in. And it was just skipping
in a circle, all these womenskipping in a circle. It wasn't even
we weren't crashing into each other. But then someone tripped in front of me
and my best day at the time, and then she tripped over them.
Um, and someone dodged in front. Some guy did to pick her up.

(46:51):
I tripped over that guy and thenall of a sudden I get lifted
from under the armpits, off thegrounds. Oh oh ground. My feet
were in the air and I justwent and I was like, I am
not ruined, and I'm like lookingfor this guy. I'm like, I
would marry you. Where are you? Like? Where where are you?

(47:14):
What? I wouldn't give for that? I sorry, just memory of it.
It's just like okay, m no, I'm with that. I'm trying
to think of other things that Ireally liked. Um, this wasn't a
first blow job, but it wasdefinitely a new experience for him. Yes,

(47:35):
which I'm a big fan of,a big fan of UM. And
he is pretty enthusiastic about her honeyas well, which also every woman is
a big fan of I mean, and I'm not speaking for every woman.
I'm just saying a lot of womenare a big fan of when the guy

(47:57):
is the fan of their honey.Yes, okay, So what I really
like in Owen is Ellen Drew talksabout hypersensitivity post orgasm. So Cordelia is
really hypersensitive afterwards, and Owen evenbrings her up higher to have even a

(48:19):
secondary, stronger orgasm. But Ilike that she talks about that because you
know, post orgasm, you canbe really hypersensitive. So I like that
a lot. I like that too, especially as I mean, like I
don't want to get too personal, but that there's something that women deal with
U and so I like. Andit was also mentioned m Ellen Dard did

(48:42):
a great job on her trigger warningsor menu options, whatever you want to
call it, because she also talkedabout there there are no children in this
UM. There's no It does notend in a yeah, we're pregnant and
that's how why we're Happily ever After. So if you are not interested in
um that's heard of Happily ever After, this book is definitely for you.
They talk multiple times about children possiblyin the future, but it's a definite

(49:07):
down the line situation and it's somethingthat they are sure that they're on the
same page about. And I reallyjust appreciated like the upfrontness about like the
communication between the two parts is reallywell done. And in other part it's
like, why are you the waythat you are? Yes? Yes,

(49:29):
every time Owen runs away, yes, yes, And that's how you know
it's a man. He's a man, yeah, a man. Yeah,
And he's a man in his latethirties, so they're kind of you know,
hard to like crack down at thatpoint, like most of his life
alone. So he doesn't know howto yeah, people, doesn't know how
to people. Yeah. So Iwould say, um, we're gonna give

(49:51):
are we gonna give the bucket acome to Owen? For sure? Yeah?
Yeah, I would say it's it'sa high steam. It's a high
if you're looking after um high steamlow angst, Like definitely you could read
in one sitting. I would alsogive it slipping slide, Oh, yeah,
yep, I'll go with um.Um. So next month we are

(50:16):
going to be doing something that Ididn't know what it was again because I'm
so new. Uh, we aregoing to be doing Crampus. Carlotta take
it away, forget what's in Santisfans. We want to get it taste,
so Grampus Andy came, give meup that, mom and stick.

(50:40):
Okay, we're doing Crampus and UMit's gonna be again a fun time,
not a long time, and weare going to stick with um. We
are going to read all the samebook, which we're not going to announce
yet. We're still kind of workingthrough which one we are going to pick,
but we like the dynamic of beingable to talk about the same book.

(51:01):
So what our format will be goingforward is we'll all read one of
the same book and then we'll allread another book to discuss m So it'll
be roughly four books that you unlessone of us decides to branch off do
a novella or something crazy like that, but it'll be roughly four books that
we cover each month. And sonext month we'll be Crampus and we're going
to be sticking with putting things outat the end of the month, and

(51:23):
so that'll probably be around Christmas timeand then other updates that we have.
Um, we are all participating andum, some of us having more success
than others. Um in Nano Reimo. UM, I've had a kind of
a rough go at it. I'vegotten sick and um, but I am.
I just hit twenty thousand words thisweek, which feels like a lot.

(51:45):
Um. And so I am writingan orc an orc alien orc romance.
Um, and I'm just getting throwna lot of tropes to just like
stuff in their stuff in there.Um and I'm having a great time.
So yeah, and these two convincedme to do Nano Rimo because they're insane,

(52:06):
and apparently so am I because Istarted. I'm not quite to ten
thousand words yet, but I'm overseven, so that means something. Okay,
so proud of you and mine.I won't don't even know how to
describe mine. You two have monsterbar Okay, so it's monster hunter who

(52:32):
frequents a monster bar and yeah,we'll just stick with that as a descriptor
for now. The friendship that theythat they grow together, yes, and
then Carlotta mine. So it's wrappingup Rugs Pearl. The last few chapters

(52:54):
have been pretty difficult to try towrangle everything together, and then um writing
Ruger's Tinsel, which is going tobe a holiday special that has to do
with baby happening because Amelia is pregnant, so I figured that should happen.
Um. But yeah, so that'llbe a short. It'll be probably about

(53:16):
twenty thousand words, maybe a littlelonger forty thousands. So many there are
only so many, like coming downthe chimney jokes and other things I could
put in there. I don't know. I might be able to be coming
around the Christmas tree. She couldjingle his balls a few times, you

(53:43):
know, I could be into that. Okay, Christmas on the California coast.
Don't can I just say, don'thave them have sex in the ocean.
It's too cold. I will notenjoy it. No, I would
not speak the websites in the ocean. It's too cold. You'll get I
both throw me up. All right. So that's sort of the wrap up

(54:05):
for our second episode on bear Shifters, where you can get stuffed. We'll
have more recommendations for you outside ofthe ones that we have presented you today.
