E64: Turn the Ship Around

This week, Coach Jason flies solo to talk about employee engagement. We are diving into the book Turn The Ship Around! A True Story of Turning Followers Into Leaders by David Marquet. After being given command of a nuclear submarine, Marquet discovered that the crew were constantly waiting around for orders and were generally focused more on individual tasks than the shared goals of the group. Marquet revitalized his crew by empowering individuals, clearly communicating his intent, and trusting his men to be experts in their fields.
