Speaker 1 (00:00):
The longer it takes you to start, the longer it
will take you to succeed. I remember how scared I
was when I started my first business, but I remember
thinking to myself, if I don't try now, when will I. Hey.
I'm Brianna Aponte, your host of the Soft Life CEO podcast.
I dropped out of college at the age of nineteen
to start my first business. I worked seven days a week,

(00:21):
wore way too many hats, and was the true definition
of a hustler. Years later, I'm finally living the dream
that I worked so hard to make my reality. I've
transitioned from a hustler to a soft Life CEO, working
only two days a week to maintain and run a
high earning business that gives me the freedom to live
a life I love. Now it's my mission to help
as many entrepreneurs as I can elevate the brand, increase

(00:42):
their income, and reclaim their time. Join me and guest
experts as we share our transparent journeys, work smart, not hard, strategies,
and the behind the scenes of running a successful brand
and business. You're tuned in to the Self Life CEO. Hey, you,
I know that you have an idea, a dream goal
that you've been sitting on, waiting for permission to go

(01:03):
after it, And here it is. Do it. Start that business,
start that workout plan, take that trip, commit to that relationship,
whatever it is that you've been wanting to do. Do it.
We usually know what we want, but hesitate to go
after it. Why well, in today's episode, we'll talk all

(01:24):
about it. I'm here to help you master the art
of simply getting started, So let's jump in. We've all
heard this saying that there's no better time than right now,
and I'm a firm believer in that life is too
short to hesitate and play games with your goals. If
you want to do something, you should do it. I'm
excited to empower you to get started and make today

(01:46):
be the day that you will never forget. Our world
is becoming more and more obsessed with comparison and validation,
this idea that people who are successful never failed, or
have a story that's behind the glory. Most of listening
to this probably haven't started that thing, whatever it may be,
because deep down you're afraid of failing at it. You've

(02:07):
thought of all the possible obstacles, all of the things
that could go wrong, and how hard's going to be
and how you're not capable of doing it. But have
you thought about the positives, like all the things that
you could learn from the process of just trying to
do it, the people you could meet, the experiences that
could shape your future, or how about this, the fact

(02:28):
that you could actually do it and not fail. You
are holding yourself back from moving forward in your life.
How long will you sit at this place that was
meant to be a stop sign, not a red light?
In life, there are many stop signs that come our
way that force us to stop and take a look around.
But the rule of a stop sign is to stop,

(02:50):
look both ways and continue on, unlike a red light,
where you are forced to stop until the light turns green.
So if you are at that red light, I am
letting you know that, hey, the light is green. Now.
I know that life isn't perfect and you all face
adversity just like I have, but nothing should cause you
to stop and be complacent with where you are for

(03:12):
too long. Growth is so important as humans, We should
consistently grow and evolve. In order to grow, we have
to make mistakes, overcome challenges, and get back up when
we fall. Some of my biggest mistakes were the best
life lessons and blessings. The quicker you fail at something,
the quicker you can learn, adapt and succeed. No one

(03:35):
in life has ever succeeded without failing first, So just
get comfortable with the fact that you're going to fail
at some point, and that is perfectly okay. In fact,
it should be welcomed. So here are the things to
remember in order to master the art of getting started.
One Research and make a plan. This first step is
a given, and it's also something I talk about frequently.

(03:59):
Researching and making a plan is the best way to
gain the confidence you need to start something. The research
will help you prepare and have knowledge on whatever it
is that you're wanting to do. I suggest that once
you've done the research and have a plan, you should
share it with the right person. Talking about your ideas
and plans out loud is a great way to make

(04:19):
it feel more real. You'll also be able to bounce
your ideas off of someone else who can possibly provide
valuable feedback or suggestions. Make sure the person you choose
to share your idea with is someone who loves you,
supports you, and can relate with what you're talking about.
Number two, excellence isn't required for growth. Now that you've

(04:40):
done the research and have a plan, remember that you
don't need to be excellent to grow. Your growth will
come from the act of trying new things, putting yourself
out there, and always striving for your goals. No, it
won't be perfect, No it won't be easy. But what
in life is abandon the idea of perfecting the process
and instead just strive for progress. The most successful people

(05:04):
in the world have failed many times, but the difference
between them and any other person is that they learn
from their mistakes and they continue with pressing forward. Number three,
It is more important to start than it is to succeed.
When I look at my life now, everything that I'm
successful in started from a failure. Your path will lead

(05:24):
you to places you couldn't have imagined, but in order
to get there, you have to start. The longer it
takes you to start, the longer it will take you
to succeed. I remember how scared I was when I
started my first business, But I remember thinking to myself,
if I don't try now, when will I get my
free training from Hustler to Soft Life CEO, which includes

(05:45):
my untold entrepreneurial Journey, the soft Life CEO Roadmap, and
my winning recipe for elevating your brand, increasing your income,
and reclaiming your time. Head over to the soft Life
ceo dot com backslash free training. And if I never try,
then I'll never know what my life could bee been like.
I knew I wasn't happy with where my life was,
and I had a crystal clear vision of what I

(06:05):
wanted it to be. So for me, the decision to
start was the easiest thing I've ever done, and it
is one of the things that I will never regret.
Number four, don't compare yourself to anyone. Stop looking at
the gram and comparing yourself to people who you know
nothing about. You are titled to have desires and to

(06:26):
live the life that you want, but don't base those
things off of what you see other people doing or
the life that they have and how they live. Be
your own person. If you don't, you'll never make the
leap to start anything because your motives are misplaced. You
can't want something just because someone else has it. You
have to look deep down at who you are and

(06:46):
what you want out of life in order to get
the balls to actually go after it. If your motivation
comes from others, you will never get to where you
want to be, And no matter how much you have
or how great your life is, you will continue to come.
There will always be someone who has more money than you,
a bigger house than you, more cars than you, and
who cares. That cannot be the thing that motivates you.

(07:10):
You will never find happiness that way. You are your
own person. You have your own purpose in your own path.
Stay true to it and be an example for others.
Five Create accountability. Once you make the choice to start,
what's going to hold you accountable? Choosing to start is amazing,
but having a plan to commit to it is even better.

(07:32):
Like when I made my workout plan, I knew I
needed accountability, So instead of getting a membership at a
regular gym, I found a place whose membership in itself
would hold me accountable. Orange Theory. They have a pretty
expensive unlimited membership. Plus you have to sign up for
classes in advance and are charge defeat each and every
time you don't show up to that class. Now that's accountability.

(07:55):
What can you set up with your plan to hold
you accountable? Is there a person who can help a
system you can put in place, Think about it and
find something that works for you. Six, reward yourself. Once
you have an accountability plan in action, set up a
reward system. How can you create benchmarks and different rewards

(08:16):
to help keep you on track and motivated. For example,
Orange Theory was my accountability partner, and my rewards were
massages each week. If I showed up to all six classes,
I would get a massage on the seventh day. Your
reward should be something that you really enjoy that makes
sense for what you're working towards. For example, if my
reward was fudge brownies, even though I love me some

(08:38):
fudge brownies, they would not be helping me with achieving
the goal of getting in shape, So be creative. Your
rewards should be given as often as it makes sense,
depending on your goal and how long it will take
to achieve it. Number seven never give up. Starting is
great now that you're finally doing it, remember not to
give up. A list of all the reasons why you

(09:01):
want to accomplish your goal and make that be your
reminder to not give up when things get tough. Put
your list somewhere where you can see it daily. If
you forget the reasons behind what you're doing, you might
fall off track and never get back on. I am
so thankful for the day that I decided to start something.
That one thing led into so many other things, but

(09:23):
it all stemmed from that one day, that one moment
of abandoning fear, committing to becoming my best self and
creating the life that I always wanted. If I did it,
you can do it too. So I hope that today
will be a day that marks the day that you
decided to start. Thanks for tuning in to Soft Life CEO.
