Speaker 1 (00:00):
Faith also shows up in the form of self confidence.
Self confidence is a choice. It is a form of
believing in yourself and your journey. This is why the
most confident people are typically those who practice their skill sets,
often put themselves out there consistently, and have daily routines
that enforce self suggestion. Hey, I'm Brianna Aponte, your host

(00:20):
of the Self Life CEO podcast. I dropped out of
college at the age of nineteen to start my first business.
I worked seven days a week, wore way too many hats,
and was the true definition of a hustler. Years later,
I'm finally living the dream that I worked so hard
to make my reality. I've transitioned from a hustler to
a self life CEO, working only two days a week
to maintain and run in high earning business that gives

(00:41):
me the freedom to live a life I love. Now
it's my mission to help as many entrepreneurs as I
can elevate their brand, increase their income, and reclaim their time.
Join me and guest experts as we share our transparent journeys,
work smart, not hard, strategies, and the behind the scenes
of running a successful brand in business. You're tuned in
to the Self Life CEAEO before we jump in. This

(01:02):
is for you if you're an entrepreneur who is looking
to tap into your faith in order to grow in
your brand or business, if you are ready to lean
on your faith and fully feel aligned in your brand
or business, and if you're wanting to prioritize building your
brand and growing spiritually. What we're going to cover is
the role that faith plays in entrepreneurship, because I do
think it is super important. Four different ways that you

(01:24):
can build your faith in order to be the best
entrepreneur you can be. Three faith building tactics and practices
that will help you build your brand and your business,
and then fellowshipping as a form of building a life
you love. Faith that driven entrepreneurs view themselves as stewards
of the resources and the talents that they were given
by God. They use their business skills and resources responsibly

(01:46):
and ethically for the betterment of their society and in
alignment with their faith. Faith provides entrepreneurs with a strong
moral compass, helping us stay grounded and focused on what
truly is important. This can help us make decisions that
align with our values, even when it's not the easiest
or the most profitable choice. And then a big part
of faith is that faith isn't just spiritual, right, It's

(02:08):
a state of mind, and it can be developed by
training our mind to believe positive thoughts and dismiss negative ones.
One of my favorite examples of this is self suggestion.
Self suggestion is if you repeat something enough, you'll soon
believe that it is a fact. Therefore, you speak to
yourself the things you want and who you desire to be,
and you will soon believe it and therefore subconsciously make

(02:30):
decisions that align with that belief. This is something that
I did to go from Cleveland bree to current bree.
And the reason why I use the word Cleveland bree
is because my mindset and who I was when I
lived in Cleveland was a completely different person. And when
I moved to DC, I took things into my own
hands and I really decided that I was going to

(02:51):
practice teaching myself and almost like rewiring my brain to
be the person I ultimately wanted to be. Our thoughts
to dominate our mind. If you change your thoughts, you'll
change your reality over time. You must have a clear
mental picture of the person you wants to become and
the life that you want to obtain. If you combine
your spiritual faith with the mental state of faith, you

(03:13):
can do anything you put in your mind to. Faith
also shows up in the form of self confidence. Self
confidence is a choice. It is a form of believing
in yourself and your journey. This is why the most
confident people are typically those who practice their skill sets,
often put themselves out there consistently, and have daily routines
that enforce self suggestion. Because confidence grows each time that

(03:35):
you prepare yourself to do something. You tell yourself you
can do it, and then you prove to yourself that
you can by actually doing it. This is why I
always preach setting small, tangible goals. Each time you set
a goal and reach it, you grow a little more confident.
People who set unrealistic goals and never meet them are
actively decreasing their confidence levels. Now let's talk about the

(03:56):
four ways to build your faith in order to be
the best entrepreneur you can be. I have seen firsthand
how building your faith will directly make you a better entrepreneur,
and not just that, a better friend, a better daughter,
a better spouse, and overall a better person. The reason
why faith is so closely tied to entrepreneurship is because
your faith should then create your moral compass and values

(04:16):
for how you run your business. So I'm going to
give you five ways to build your faith. Number one
is to believe in your purpose. Number two is to
have a plan for your purpose. Number three is to
make prayer a consistent part of your life. Number four
is to have routines that support growing your faith, and
number five is daily journaling or affirmations. So number one,
believing in your purpose, the first thing you need to

(04:38):
do is really remind yourself of your why. Ask yourself
these questions, what do you feel like you're on this
earth to do? How does your natural God given talents
allow you to benefit the world? Who are you meant
to serve? And how can you better serve? After you
go through these questions and you are affirm on what
your purpose is and what I like to call your why,

(04:58):
being very clear on what that why is, then you
want to have a plan for your purpose. You have
to have a tangible plan that allows you to feel
aligned in your purpose as well as hold you accountable
for doing the things that you need done in order
for your brand and business to succeed. Create an overall
goal for the year, and then break that into one
main goal for each quarter, and then one main goal
for each month. This is called having vision for your

(05:20):
brand and actively working towards that vision. Making prayer a
part of your life does not have to be cringy, right,
Prayer does it have to be an awkward thing where
you're actively getting on your knees and praying or pulling
out your Bible. It should be something that feels natural
and easy, like a relationship. For me, I pray almost
every day at these specific moments which are already built

(05:41):
into my morning routine. It's in the morning. I pray
in the shower. This is kind of like how I
prepare for my day. Have gospel music on, and I'm
trying to get in the best head space and really
just pray for all the things I need to get
through my day. Right, let's say that I have a
day of coaching calls. I don't pray for money. I
don't pray for these people to continue to work with me.

(06:03):
What I pray for is the ability to say to
them exactly what they need in this moment. I ask
God to let me be his vessel to send them
on their journey in a way where they have clarity
and full confidence on what it is that they're doing. Right,
So I pray to be prepared to do the things
I need to do for the people. Get my free

dot com backslash free training to do it for And
at night, I pray while in bed, right before closing
my eyes, and my nighttime prayer is all about gratitude, right,

(06:45):
It's all about thanking God for another amazing, beautiful day,
really just thanking Him for my family, my friends, my husband,
my life, my home, like literally every little thing. And
what this does is it actually helps me go to
sleep like it makes me more peaceful, it allows me
to unwind, and it just makes me feel like I'm
prepared to go to bed and wake up for another

(07:07):
productive day. Then you want to have routines that support
growing your faith. Adding routines like daily affirmations, journaling, meditation,
Bible study, or church can all be ways to help
you further your faith. Finding the method that's best for
you is really important, right. It shouldn't feel forced. For me,
it is a must that I write things down. So

(07:27):
journaling is my therapeutic practice that also allows me to
work on my faith. I believe your routine should look
a little different for morning and night. So for example,
in the morning, I journal because it allows me to
remind myself of my priorities and goals and encourages me
to start the day right. I write down the things
that I want to be mindful of, the three things
that I will accomplish that day, and the things that

(07:49):
I am thankful for, so that I'm starting my day
with gratitude. And at night, my method is a little
different of how I do my journaling. All I do
at night is I write down the things I need
to do the next day, because for me, it gives
me permission to turn off my brain and get a
good night's rest so that I can have a great
day tomorrow. Now, let's talk about three faith building practices
to help you build your brand and business. Number one,

(08:11):
which is the most important to me is budgeting to
grow if you can't be trusted with a dollar, what
makes you believe that you deserve more. This is a
practice that is talked about in the Bible. God always
talks about being a good steward over what you have,
So being a good steward looks like this, taking care
of what you have now, being intentional with how you're
spending your money, not putting yourself in further debt, structuring

(08:34):
your business with low overhead costs, and being strategic with
managing your money. Here are three different things that I
think are very important when it comes to budgeting. Number
one is to set goals. Right to build wealth, you
have to envision a life beyond what you have now.
Set intentional goals for what you want and what you'll
do with your wealth. Number two is to strategize. There
are so many ways to build your wealth. Once you

(08:55):
set your goals, strategize the different ways to get there.
And when it comes to this, you want to think
about the fact that God knows your heart right. He
wants you to be happy, He wants you to feel fulfilled,
but you have to put the work behind it. He
will bless anything that your heart is truly in and
is truly in for the right reason, So keep that
in mind when you're thinking of the different ideas. The

(09:17):
examples that I'm going to provide is what I do
with my business right. I know that not everybody can
afford to have this done for you service. That's why
I launched a community, That's why I do discounted coaching calls.
That's why I mentor young girls who I know don't
have the means to do any of the things. And then,
lastly is all about software. Make budgeting easy. There are

(09:37):
so many softwares that can do the work for you.
Easily track your income, expenses and projections with a tool.
My challenge to you is to read the book Money Psychology.
Let's talk about faithful planning. Planning is essential both as
a person of faith and as an entrepreneur. Remember the
saying faith without works is dead. Well, it's as simple
as that. Going through life with no plan and no

(09:58):
preparation is a recipe for failure and stagnation. If you
want a successful business, you have to take the necessary
steps for that to be your reality. You can't just
believe that since you prayed for it and God loves you,
that you'll have it. You have to put in the
work to prepare for the things that you want. Then
and only then will you be deserving of it. Fellowshipping
with other entrepreneurs, building faith based and entrepreneur based relationships

(10:22):
will bless you beyond measure. Being connected to a community
of people who value spirituality will naturally help you to
continue to build your faith, and connecting with other entrepreneurs
will allow you to have relationships with people who you
can relate to as well as continuously learn from. So
make sure you're going out of your way to build
new relationships that are mutually beneficial. Fellowshipping is a great

(10:43):
way to build a life you love. I didn't start
to live a life I truly loved until I surrounded
myself with the type of people who fit into that life.
I ditched old relationships that weren't serving me and I
replace them with fruitful and intentional ones. It's not an
easy process, but it is sasa if you want to
have the life that you truly have envisioned in your brain. Right,

(11:05):
there's things that have to change. People have to go,
and I know it's hard. It's always hard letting go
of people, and it's also hard building new relationships right,
but it's something that has to be done. You have
to change up your circle and really make sure that
you're surrounding yourself with like minded individuals. Key takeaway one
is that building your faith is like building your confidence.
You have to put in the work to convince and

(11:26):
remind yourself each day of your purpose and to make
decisions that align with that purpose. Number two is remember
faith that works is dead. This is a major key
takeaway because if you're not prepared for the life that
you say you want, it will never come, or worse,
it will come and you won't be prepared, and then
you drop the ball and then you never get the
opportunity again. So either way, you're not winning. Preparation, preparation, preparation,

(11:51):
and key takeaway number three you don't just want friends,
you want fellowship. Find like minded people who can build
intentional relationships with you, people that you can relate to
and learn from while having a mutually beneficial relationship. Thanks
