on the telephone right now, I have Vicky Stewart, the
executive director with Employment Disability Resources. Vicky, Welcome back to
the program.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
How are you, thanks, John. I'm doing great.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
We've got some fun stuff coming up this month. We
talked a little bit about this a while ago, but
now here we are. It's July and we've got a
bunch of different things happening this month. You just had
a fun event beer and bingo at Severn's Brewing, But
that's not the only thing. You get a lot of
fun things. Let's talk about some of the events that
are happening. And it all culminates with a big festival
on the twenty sixth. What are some of the other
(00:45):
fun things happening leading up to that?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
All right, Well, all month long, we are featuring our
Refocus exhibit at Shrivers Squares. So that's in partnership with
staring Gippity Studios and it's a psychogasty incident of local
people with disabilities, so check that out. Throughout the month.
We also are showing Cryptamp, it's a Disability Revolution documentary
(01:10):
at the Sua Fall State Theater. The first showing is
July twenty third, it's seven o'clock, and the second showing
is July twenty seventh at four o'clock.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
And then on July twenty fifth, we are having a
lunch and learn about ADA employment and access. That's from
noon to one at Startupsuit Falls and it's free, no charge,
bring your own lunch, and we hope to gather a
lot of people there. And then finally we'll culminate all
(01:40):
of our events and activities on July twenty sixth at eleven.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
And that is the EIGHTYA Festival strengthening connections and moving
forward together. And what time does everything get started? On Saturday,
July twenty six it's quite the evening.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah it is. It's starts at five and we'll go
through to nine thirty and we're going to have all
HAPs the performers with disabilities and food trucks and vendors
and lots of fun interactive activities.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
And again that is coming up on Saturday, the twenty
sixth of July, which sounds like it's a long ways away,
but as I look at my calendar, that is next Saturday,
so it is not.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
That far away, right exactly. I'll be here before we
know it.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
If you would like to learn more about any of
the things that we talked about, a Dasoux Falls dot
org is a good place to go. And again I'm
going to throw a link to make that really easy.
And I'm looking at the email that I got here,
there's a bunch of wonderful sponsors that help make this possible.
You can't do this without sponsors, can you?
Speaker 1 (02:39):
All Right? Sponsors are so important and our volunteers and
our committee members. It really takes a lot of people
to make events like these come together.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
And a big think at all the sponsors. Again, you
can see them on the website as well. Adasoufalls dot org.
And for everybody that steps up and helps out with
these things, and you know, comes out whether you're a participant,
you know, involved in helping with the festival, or if
you're there as a spectator watching the festival, thank you
to you as well, because again, when everybody comes together,
we can have a really good time and raise some
(03:11):
awareness and everybody leaves a little bit better than they
showed up.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
That's great.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
If people would like to get involved, are you looking
for volunteers or you kind of got that all covered.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
I think we have a few slots left, so yeah,
definitely check out our website and you can sign up there.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Again that website a Dasioux Falls dot org. VICKI thank
you so much for taking the time to visit with me,
and we just saw each other not too long ago
at the fairgrounds as we were doing our ribbon cutting
for the fireworks. It sadly got rained out, but it
was really nice to see you there and I look
forward to seeing at this fun event at the end
of the month.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Thanks John, it was great sing you there too, and
I hope you can join us.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
