a comedy call today, We're going to visit with very
funny comedian David Jolly.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Hello, sir, how are you hey?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
How you doing today? I'm doing great to you, so.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
I am fantastic and we're excited to have you in
Sioux Falls. It's fun to say next week, Holy cow,
it's next week already a little over a week away.
And for folks that don't know you from the Kiltony
podcast or from your comedy, let's talk a little bit
about your background and how you got into comedy.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Oh. I was just a buddy of mine had a
show and I went with him in just like a showcase,
and I asked the guy who was scoring the show,
he'll let me do a little comedy before the show started,
probably like a weekend advance. So I kind of like
just wrote some stuff down and at first he was like, no,
you ain't never did a comedy. These people fan of
this show. I ain't letting you do that. And then

(00:58):
I guess whatever reason you let me do it, and
I did it, and I was like what I do next?
And that's been history.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
That is awesome. How long ago was that, Dave?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Oh, I've been doing comedy nine years now.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
And let's talk about how you got involved at the
kill Tony podcast, because that's got to be a life
changing moment for you there.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Well, yeah, yeah, it's an excellent like family, you know,
I'm really appreciative of that. It's real cool. You know,
you get to meet different people across the world without
actually being in front of their faith, so you know,
that's pretty cool. Just good energetic people. And kill Tony
has just been an amazing experience.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
And what was your first episode, like the first did
you get on the very first time you went there?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Or was it multiple times before you got on the show?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Now? It was My experience was kind of crazy, like
if you follow kill Tony and you a no, Tony
just kind of gave me an opportunity and then you know,
I just ran with it. And then I actually moved
to Austin life like two months after that, and I've
been a regular on there now, you know. So that's
it just grinding.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
So, David, where were you living before you move to Austin.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Orlando?

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Very nice and so you were going back and forth
from Orlando to Austin and then you move there.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah, for like a couple of months because I got
I got a call back at the Muzzleship to be
like a regular. Yeah, And once I got a callback,
I just kept coming back and I was like, yeah,
I'm about to move here. I was basically waiting on
my son to graduate high school before I moved.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I love that in Austin, Texas. Is it's quite the
place right now for comedy. It's it's kind of become
known as like one of the most important places for
stand up comedy right now, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Oh yeah, it's I like Austin. Austin is different in
the city as far as like, you know, how a
lot of cities to be segregated by race or class
or whatever. It's kind of like people just all together here.
It ain't a lot of segregation. It's just it's pretty cool.
You know, it's interesting every day living.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
In absolutely again we're visiting right now with Dave Jolly
he's going to be in Sioux Falls on the thirty
first of July, that's next Thursday, And if you like
to come out to the show, I'm going to give
you details on how you can get to the show
and get tickets and all of that. Now, the other
guys that are on the show, you've worked with several
of them in the past, haven't you.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Oh yeah, I worked with those guys quite a bit.
I mean because like here in Austin, it's like a
showcase city. So you can go to any club in Austin.
He'll basically see anybody, anybody from Kill Tony, anybody who
might be a seer to act or arena act. Oh.
They kind of like just bounced around between the different clubs.
So we all kind of work together.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
And the show that's going to be here in Sioux
Falls again. Tickets available right now. I was just visiting
with the gentleman putting it on. He said, tickets have
been selling at a pretty good pace, so that's nice.
They're not sold out yet, but I would not wait
till the very end, because you know, there's only so
much room. It's a good sized room, but there's only
so much room in any room right.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Oh yeah, exactly. I'm excited. I've never been to the
South Dakota before, but are it is a beautiful place
landscape wise.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Well, we're excited to have you join us in South Dakota.
And for people who are maybe not familiar with you
through the Kill Tony podcast, how would you describe what
you do on stage?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
What is your style of comedy?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
I mean, is this something you got to come see.
I don't care about getting cant you know, like, I'm
just trying to be funny. If you want to get offended,
you know, some people are just gonna get offended because
they want to be offended. You probably to show for you,
But if you just want to laugh at just stupidness,
then come on out. That of it is personal, none
of it is trying to be offensive. But we can
find a fence in anything. That's what we looking for.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Absolutely. The show is coming up on Thursday. It's next Thursday,
the thirty first of July in t South Dakota. It's
at a place called Titans Tavern. I've been there several times.
It's a great place for comedy and there's no such
thing as a bad seat. Every seat there is a
good seat, So get your tickets right now. David, Jolly
and a whole bunch of other folks from the Kiltny
podcast and Dave, I get to work with you. I

(04:41):
get to be themc that night. So I'm excited to
work with you, sir.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Oh yeah, that's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (04:45):

a whole lot of fun. If you get a chance,
