with and with about life Chain. It's coming up this
Sunday from two to three pm in Sioux Falls. We'll
(00:22):
tell you how to get involved, but first and tell
me a little bit about life Chain and what this
event is all about.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Oh you bet, Thank you so much for having me John. So,
life Chain is an hour of public, peaceful prayer and
it serves as a witness for the unborn and we're
standing in unity for the dignity of human life. So
what we do is we basically are praying and then
go out and live what we believe, which is first
(00:49):
to love God and then it's to love our neighbor
as ourselves, no matter their size, their age, or their
level of development. So a little history on life Chain.
It began in nineteen eighty seven in California and it's
grown to over fifteen hundred communities across the US and Canada,
and it's always every first Sunday of October. So this
(01:10):
year it's on the fifth.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Very nice and Seue Falls Area. Right to Life is
who's putting this on Sue Falls Area. Right toolife dot
org is their website, and there's a lot of people
needed to pull off an event like this. It's going
to be the north sidewalk of forty first Street from
South Sirtoma to Southwestern Avenue. That is a whole lot
of people. That's a couple miles, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I think I measured about three and a half miles. Yes, yes,
So it is a long chain and life chain is
built on the promise we see from second Chronicle seven fourteen,
which is to humble, prey, seek and turn back to God.
And our desire is to heal our land and restore
a culture of life.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
I love that. And if you would like to be
involved in this, this is something super simple, super easy
to be involved in. All you do show up on Sunday,
October fifth. It's from two pm to three pm and
they've got signs printed, they've got everything coordinated, everything's ready.
All we have to do is show up.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yes, you bet, and and you know the nice thing too,
is we reach out to many churches and so multiple
denominations are involved. United together as well as other pro
life groups like Jacks for Life and the Signs. We
hold a firm the negligenable right to life and show
our love for mothers in an unexpected situation as well
(02:30):
as we're in repentance and also in the memory of
the many innocent lives that have been murdered. In fact,
it's sixty six million since nineteen seventy three. That's like
three thousand a day most recently, so it's a nine
to eleven every day. It's very serious and as Mother
Teresa once said, are any country that accepts abortion is
(02:53):
not teaching its people to love, but to use violence
to get what they want. And we've of course recently
seen what happen happens when human life is not respected.
So where you can go is to get a sign
is to Life Change Church parking lot at sixty three
hundred West forty first or at O'Gorman High School parking lot.
(03:14):
You can pick up a sign. If your church has
a designated block, go to that block. Or if you
don't have a church affiliation and just want to show up,
just come a little bit early, at least fifteen minutes early,
so you can find your way to a sidewalk so
you can go right there along Life Change Church or
Bio Gorman. If you don't have another place to go,
(03:37):
We would welcome anybody, and if you can't stand for
an hour, bring a lawn chair. Kids are welcome in strollers.
We suggest people try to stand ten to twenty five
feet apart because people can read the signs better as
they're driving along.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
And I really like that. Again, you're not holding hands,
you're not blocking intersections, you're not crossing the street, blocking streets,
so people can go about their way, they can ride past,
they can see that there's a bunch of people out
to support this in a very positive, loving way, and
they have wonderful signs. So again, the thing that's really
nice about this, it's a peaceful event and it's not
a negative thing for anybody. It's not causing any sort
(04:15):
of harm. It's not stopping people from their daily route.
So get out and be a part of it.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yes, definitely. And you know, if we're to love our
neighbors as ourselves, we want to start with the tiny
humans because they're the most vulnerable neighbor we have and
it is very peaceful. We have children of all ages,
so we love seeing the babies and strollers that accompany
their parents showing our love for life.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
And thank you so much for taking the time to
chat with us about it. Again. Sue Falls Area Right
to Life puts on this event and we've had a
chance to visit every year the last few years. I
always look forward to talking to you. It's a very
nice event that you guys put on.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yes, I so appreciate you you letting me have the
time to talk about it.
Speaker 1 (04:54):

to three pm and Sue Falls If you'd like to
