In this episode, I’m getting real about what it means to build a legacy-driven podcast — one that’s rooted in purpose, not performance. If you’ve been feeling burned out trying to keep up with charts, downloads, and social trends, this is your permission slip to step off the hamster wheel and create from a place of alignment. I’m sharing why I believe podcasting is a long game — and how consistency, clarity, and soul will always outlast hype. I’ll walk you through the mindset shifts I’ve made (and coach my clients through) to build a show that doesn’t just sound good — it means something. Plus, I’m giving you a peek inside my 1:1 podcast coaching — where we focus on interviewing mastery, personalized growth strategy, and building a brand that actually reflects who you are. If you're ready to stop chasing metrics and start building your podcast with intention, this one’s for you. ✨ Don’t forget to grab your free Launch Confidently Podcasting Checklist — it’s the exact guide I use with my clients.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Hey, beautiful soul Welcome back to Soul podcasting, the place
where heart meets strategy and soulful entrepreneurs like you rise
into your voice, shape your influence and build a brand
with meaning. I'm Demitrio zinga podcast coach, digital brand strategist
and founder of The Soul Podcasting Collective, which is a

(00:34):
boutique podcast agency for purpose driven entrepreneurs and creative CEOs
who are ready to stop hiding and start showing up
with real authority and today's conversation, it's a soul check.
We're talking legacy over likes because too many of us
are spinning in the hamster wheel of metrics, the downloads,
the likes, the charts, the growth hacks, all the things,

(00:56):
and we've forgotten the most powerful part of the mic,
which is our message. So let me ask you right now,
what are you building and who is it really for?
This episode is your permission slip to unplug from performance
and reconnect to purpose. And if you're just starting your
podcast journey or you're revisiting your current show with a

(01:18):
fresh intentional lens, I want you to pause and go
download that Launch Confidently Podcasting checklist, which is the same
guy that I walk through with my one to one
coaching clients. This helps you to get crystal clear on
your podcast purpose, design a format that fits your voice
in your brand, and launch or relaunch without overwhelm or

(01:38):
second guessing. It's absolutely free, and it's in the show notes,
so I invite you to go grab it when you're
done listening or now. If you're a multitasker, all right,
so let's land here for a moment. If you're like me,
you have a billion tabs open, and so I'm going
to ask you to close those extra tabs and just
start to focus in silence your pings on your phone,
drop that to do list, and just know that you

(02:00):
have now entered your creative CEO time, which is that
sacred container where your voice, your wisdom, and your why
takes center stage. I want you to take a breath,
inhale purpose and exhale performance pressure. We're going to get
rid of that pressure to perform. This is your space.

(02:20):
So let's talk legacy, not just in the business buzzword sense,
but in the real way, the impact that outlives you.
This is the kind of resonance that keeps working long
after you've unplugged. The micro. Let's start with some truth.

(03:05):
The platform trends will change, the numbers will fluctuate, but
your voice, my friend, which is hopefully rooted in your
truth right, rooted in your service and your intention will
always hit deeper than a viral sound bite. We've talked
about going viral, what that means, what's the purpose of it,

(03:26):
and a couple of episodes back I believe it was
episode sixty, why visibility isn't about going viral, It's about
staying relevant. And so I'm going to stick with my
sermon there and just invite you to go back and
listen to that as well, because these two episodes kind
of sink together and go hand in hand. But just
remember that purpose is your anchor, not the algorithms you

(03:48):
want to keep in mind, your core purpose for your podcast.
I personally have had some high charting podcasts and now
I've also had some very quiet seasons. But the episodes
that landed in hearts were the ones that I created
from alignment and not anxiety of trying to keep up
with my shows. So if you're in a journaling mood
right now, I invite you to ask yourself, am I

(04:11):
podcasting from clarity or from comparison. I know, it's easy
to look at what other people are doing on their
shows and how successful they become. Maybe they have taken
off astronomically. Maybe they just began their podcast one year
ago and they've already got way more engagement than you
ever could imagine you would have after your first three

(04:33):
or four years of podcasting, and you still haven't arrived
at that mark that maybe your friend or someone you
know who's also podcasting has arrived. And so this idea
of comparing your show with someone else's, your podcast with
another person's podcast, it doesn't serve you at all, because remember,
your mission is very different than anyone else's, and it's

(04:55):
very possible that the things that you are doing on
your show serves such a unique audience that maybe you're
not going to grow quite as quickly as they would
because maybe your show is more niche. Maybe you are
speaking to a very specific sector, a very very small
niche audience that really gets you and engages with you
and loves your content, but your podcast is not going

(05:17):
to reach the masses in a way that would grow
your podcast faster. So you have to look at what
you're talking about on your podcast and the kind of
content you provide and what type of audience is going
to be attracted to that. And be very clear. Again,
your journaling prompt would be am I podcasting from clarity
or from comparison. Secondly, I want you to know that

(05:38):
legacy is built through consistency and not hype. Now, if
twelve people hit play on your episodes this week, that's
twelve people, twelve souls tuning in to you for fifteen
to twenty thirty minutes, right or an hour. That's not small,
that is sacred, that is too be applauded. You need

(06:01):
to celebrate this achievement. Twelve people, and I'm just throwing
a number out there. It could be five, it could
be ten, it could be thirty, it could be one
hundred and fifty. I don't know how many people are
listening to your episodes, but my point is that even
if you deem the number very small this week, just

(06:22):
know that that small number of people were impacted by
your episode. This podcast, and all my past brands like
Christian Homeschool Moms and her business Elevated mom Per Nursing Hills,
they were never built on trends. They were built on Truth,
on my Truth, where I was in my journey of
podcasting and in my life in general. And that's why

(06:44):
I believe that they're still searchable and they're still serving
an audience, still showing up in inboxes and dms to
this day, because people are listening to what resonated in
those years that I created that content, and it still
resonates with them today. And so I celebrate every time

(07:04):
I open up my stats and I see someone has listened.
Five people listen, thirty people listen, two hundred people listen.
I celebrate all the numbers, and I'm encouraging you to
do the same, no matter how big or small your
podcast is. Thirdly, podcasting is a long game of thought leadership.
Every episode you create becomes a digital asset that's evergreen, searchable, shareable,

(07:29):
all of those things. And here's what I like to
remind my coaching clients that your podcast is not just content.
It's your speaker reel, it's your sales tool, your book draft.
You know you might want to write a book, and
this will help you to begin crafting that content. I'm
so excited about that because I actually have a couple

(07:50):
of guests coming up on this show that are going
to be talking about how they've written books or how
they want to encourage you our listeners to move in
that direction. If that's something that you want to do,
and that's definitely something I'm thinking of doing again. I
wrote a book many years ago and it was self
published and it was just a thing that I needed

(08:10):
to do my own personal project for mompreneurs in Hills.
But I am really considering writing another book in the
upcoming year or so. And so if you're in that mode,
I would love to hear from you, and I would
love to just chat with you about what you're thinking
of writing and how your podcast is going to help
you with your content creation. So just remember that your

(08:33):
podcast is not just content. It's all these other things,
including if you're deciding to write a book one day,
or it works in so many different avenues for your
marketing strategy. And that's why strategy matters. It's what we
build together. It's a roadmap that aligns your show with
your bigger goals for your business, for your entrepreneurship journey. Next,

(08:55):
I want to just clarify that you're not just a creator.
You know, a lot of us call ourselves content creators,
because that is essentially what we're doing. But you're also
a legacy builder, so this isn't about churning out content
to stay visible. You are building something that outlasts the scroll.
You're building community, credibility and connection. So forget the creator

(09:20):
economy boxes. You're not just putting content out there. You're
shifting perspectives and you're establishing voice equity. And I believe
that that does require intention, not just output. You have
to be intentional about what you're doing and why. And
I just want to encourage you that real purpose attracts

(09:40):
real people. When you podcast with soul, you draw your
people in naturally. And I say your people because everybody
has their people, So you're going to naturally draw the
people into your show that appreciate the quality, the value,
the content, your personality. Right, there's no forcing, there's no gimat.

(10:00):
This is all your values, your energy, and your truth
that will speak louder than any fancy funnel that you
could create. Those are the people who become clients, community members, collaborators,
and not just casual listeners. So let that be the
reminder that you don't need ten thousand fans. You just
need one hundred aligned souls, ten aligned souls, fifty aligned

(10:25):
people who see you, who trust you, and are ready
to move with you. That's called legacy work, all right.
So we're going to talk about going a little bit deeper.
If your interest is peaked and you are wanting to
know just a bit more about what it is I do.
If this conversation has you nodding scribbling those notes in
your journal and you're thinking, okay, yeah, I need help

(10:45):
applying this to my actual podcast, guess what I got you.
I now offer one on one podcast coaching. I have
been doing this for some time now, but I do
like to remind you as a listener that this is
something we do, and this is not surface level. And
here's what we work on together. We can work on
interviewing mastery. This is where I help you prep like

(11:06):
a pro, ask better questions of your guests, or answer
questions as a guest. I want to help you lead
interviews with confidence and with charisma. And this is something
that I've been working on for so many years that
I feel like I'm not completely polished. I'm never at
a point where I'll say, hey, I am perfect at this,
but I would say that I have a lot of

(11:28):
experience with interviewing guests, and I just enjoy the process
of getting to know people in the short thirty minute
interview slots that we have on the shows. And I
would love to help you to prep your interview questions
and to lead your interviews with confidence. And so that's
one thing that we can work on together. And we
can also work on personalizing your growth strategy, so we'll

(11:52):
get you a custom roadmap for your show's growth that
aligns with your brand, your energy, and even your revenue goals.
So this is for the CEO creative like yourself who's
ready to stop winging it and you want to start
podcasting with purpose and presence. Usually on my shows, I
talk about how we offer podcast editing. We also offer audits,

(12:16):
and I talk about that a lot because video and
audio production are such a huge barrier for many many podcasters.
But I also realized that many of you love completely
enjoy the process of editing your own shows, and so
I wanted to make sure that you knew how much
we love helping and assisting podcasters. That we offer much

(12:38):
more than just audio and video production. That we also
offer coaching to help you through the process of launching
and managing your show. So we are a multifaceted agency
and there's lots of things we can do to help
you with your podcasting. So we want to highlight that
coaching on today's show and let you know that that
is available to you. So if this sounds like you,

(12:59):
sounds like something you're interested in, you can head over
to soulpodcasting dot com slash services. You can also DM
me on Instagram at soul Podcasting and let's build your
podcast with the legacy lens that it deserves. All Right,
So here's a quick sidebar from the industry. I always
like to bring up a little bit of podcasting news

(13:19):
on at least one show every week, and so this
time we're going to talk about the power of being
in the room. And of course I am getting my
news from podnews. So I read in podnews this week
that podcast conferences are still one of the most underrated
game changers for indie creators. And it's not because of

(13:42):
the panels, but because of the people. Because, honestly speaking,
being in the room with other creators, strategies, editors, and coaches,
the insights, the synergy, the momentum. You can't replicate that
anywhere else, And so I would say that even if
it's virtual, even if it's on Zoom, head to a
podcast conference in the upcoming year, you know, make it

(14:06):
a goal to be a part of the podcast industry
as a podcaster in some way, shape or form, and
I think podcast conferences are a great way to do that.
So I have a little fun assignment for you. And
if you've been playing small behind the mic, we all
have been there, We've all done it. We all shrink
a little bit when we're just getting started or maybe
feel a little bit intimidated of the process of podcasting

(14:28):
and what it means to like really be a part
of the community. But I want to ask you to
consider getting in that room, whether it's podfasts or some
other podcasting meet up, a local creator meetup, invest in
that space, because in all honesty, I've grown so much
as a podcaster, even in just the past six months

(14:51):
because of my investment in places like Podfest, which is
a virtual conference that I've been a part of for
the last two years, or just being on platforms like
pod match. You know, legacy requires connection. So getting out
there and connecting with other podcasters is an excellent, excellent

(15:11):
way to be in tune with what you're doing, you know,
and really embrace your role as podcast host and producer
of your show. All right, friend, let's land this with heart.
Here's the truth. You're not just a podcaster, you are
a legacy builder. I say this quite often on this

(15:31):
show because that is my heart, and this is my
mission to inspire you as a podcaster to see yourself
as much more than someone behind the mic, but someone
who is actually building a movement and building legacy. This
is going to help you also to lead with intention.
So when you lead with soul and strategy and your

(15:52):
signature voice, the likes don't matter, but the impact does matter.
So if you're ready to build a podcast that reflects
who you are and supports the brand that you are becoming,
I love to walk along beside you again. You can
visit Soulpodcasting dot com or dm me over at soul
Podcasting on Instagram, and of course you can find me

(16:12):
on LinkedIn at dimitria zinga my name. Let's build something
that lasts, my friend, and until next time, stay soul, whole,
stay true, and leave with purpose. Happy podcasting
