Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now on source Pages we get the first of two, yes,
that's two primers for the upcoming Captain America Brave New
World movie that is coming out shortly. And this one
we are focusing on the Red Hulk.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
But first, after these messages be reading, it's time for

(00:34):
the podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Welcome back, my fellow Hulklings. I'm Hailey Hobbs.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
And me Brian.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
It makes sense that the male Hulks tend to be
that way and the female ones don't. And this is
source Page is where we read comics and novels as
primers for all the geeky TV shows and movies we love,
and we love that we have a new Marvel movie
coming out in just what two weeks ish? Three weeks?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, well it comes out on the twenty something.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
No, it comes out on this time next week. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
So next week we'll have our second primer. We're going
to cover the six issues of Captain America dealing with
Sam and then we'll have our reviewing comparison. But first,
this one is the follow the Red Hulks, which was
probably one of the densest four issue comic runs I've
ever read in my life.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
I was excited, I was like four issues and then
you message me and you're like, have you read these yet?
And I was like, oh crap.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Well, mainly because it's we'll talk about it when we
get to the discussion, but there was so much, just like,
first off, there's one issue I think that is all
a description of like how Rick Jones became a bomb
or like half of it is. And then there's a
lot of flashbacks and it's not even flashbacks, it's exposition

(01:52):
from the characters explaining what's going on and why it's
like a double cross, and then this is a triple cross.
And then this is a simulation and this is a
manipulation and this is a oh my god, what the
heck is? And if you get thrown into this fire
like what it is already blazing hot because you know
stuff's already going on.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
But again, it takes place prior to Fall of the Hulks.
It's like it's it's almost like a prequel, but it's not.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Right they explained it because even like what the first
issue they have like and here's a steak peak of
the issue whatever six forty something of the Hulk which
takes place in this I don't know this isn't part
of World War Hulk? Is it a war? War Hulk
was like, this is like followed the Hulks the Hulks,
But that's the thing is at the end of it, it
doesn't matter because they reset it and it's all good.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Have you seen any of the Friendly Neighborhood Spider Man
episodes yet?

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I watched both of them. I watched the second one
at work, and I didn't I wasn't really focusing, So
I need to watch it again because I couldn't actually
tell you anything that happened in the second episode.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I can't tell you anything that happened to either one
of them because I haven't got it a chance to
read it yet or watching yet. But isn't it like
so the like week one is two episodes, Week two
is three, Week three is three, and week two is
the final two. So it's like all ten episodes in
three weeks or four weeks, and.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Yeah, kind of like I guess they're doing like story arcs.
I don't know, we'll find out. I guess.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I don't know. I just heard some people's the one.
Most people like it as long as you can get
the grasp of the animation.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Oh, I like the animation. It's very two D, which
is like I like that.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Okay, so it's not as jarring as like the first
time you start like into the Spider Verse where it's
got like that.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
It's not like that mixed media. No, Okay, there's like
this weird like contemporary retroism about it, because like Peter
looks like Peter from older comics, but it's obviously taking
place like in current times. So yeah, it's interesting. I
didn't think it was jarring though, Okay, cool, cool, It's

(04:03):
like regular animation to me. It just looks normal, you
know what I mean, Like not like what if for
any of that stuff. It just looks normal.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
And we won't have a chance to talk about it
today because this episode will come out the day after
we record, but you'll probably be able to talk about tomorrow.
The little teaser trailer we're getting for Fantastic four First Steps. Yeah,
so I saw that little like a teaser with like
the kids in the sixties running up to the shot
window that watched the TV and the you know, the shop, So.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
I wonder, like they said, this isn't going to be
an origin story. So it's interesting because that's that shot
on the TV is of them going up into space,
which is how they get their powers in the comics.
So maybe that's not what it is. Maybe they're already
the Fantastic Four doing something I didn't. I've been busy
today so I didn't see much of it. But yeah, yeah,
it looks cool. It looks good.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
I mean, at least it won't be them going to
like the negative Zone to get their powers. Yeah, which
was like can the movie that will not the jash
Trank movie.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
So I've still never seen it. No, it was it
was just like I feel like I need to you know.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
No, it was them trying to do something edgy and
different and it just didn't quite work.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah, but you know, I'm looking forward to covering that
because I haven't read that much Fantastic for and the
little that I have has been like really old stuff.
Like when I was on Ryan's show for whatever, why
did we talk about Fantastic Four. I don't remember, but
we did, and it's like, oh, I want to know
what the modern Fantastic Four comics are like, so we'll

(05:39):
read something newer.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
That's true as long as I mean, we try to
get something that's pertinent we're not going to read like
one of the first issues that deals with like him
and like paste Pot Pete, which is.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Like your favorite though favorite character, Brian.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
The thing is, though I love reading those old comics,
but they are so like every everything. This one did
have a few times where it's like they fight, but
not as much as like some of those were. Every
one of them was a whole comics.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
I don't know, I don't know. I don't really love Hulk.
The Hulk is very jabbery in most of their card Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
I mean I remember a time go into early maybe
like early two thousands, late two thousands. Of early aughts
were a lot of these books you could get through
in like five minutes because it was a lot of
splash pages with nothing but fights and exposition and stuff
like that. Like I said, not like the sixties and seventies,
where it was every page was three by three. Nine
panels just explain.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Every single thing they were doing, like as if people
weren't using their eyes to read the comic books.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
And like every other panel had like a see this book,
see this book, see this book. Go talk to Stan,
Go talk to Jack, go talk to whoever Steve didco
You know it's one of those things, but this one was,
I said the first time I read it, read it
on Saturday Friday.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Uh, you texted me yesterday.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, I had already read it before that. I read
it on Saturday after I got home from my eleven
year old's birthday party, and before because the kids were
running around and I'm like, I got nothing to do
ever read these comics. I'm like, I'm so confused by
who's double crossing who, and whose team is who and
who's on what. But anyways, we're talking about all of
the Red Hulks. First issue came out January twenty seventh,

(07:32):
twenty ten. I think that that was fifteen years ago.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
We don't need to talk about that over fifteen years ago. Unnecessary.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
It was this whole run was written by Jeff Parker,
and the people that do all the fancy drawing were
Carlos Rodriguez. The coolest names that are in all of Marble.
These next two guys gents twent days And I always
heard how the guys on the Marble podcast, would you
know call that? And then Guru e f X, Like,

(08:03):
what kind of name is Guru e FX? I mean,
I'm assuming that one that's like either an AI guy
or just like I'm like, what's that? That's I was
gonna call him sures he who's that? That? The British
painter that like does all the banksy That's it. It's
just like and then we also got Simon Bowling. So

(08:26):
the first issue is number one, that the power cosmic.
And then we've got previously on Hulk Well Not and
the Leader have formed a team to kidnap the eight
Smartest Men. Bruce Banner and Red Hulk have allowed to
stop that dumb location undisclosed. It's an AIM facility, and

(08:48):
Red Hulk takes out the AIM guards with one of
his big you know Hulk collapse.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Which was cool, Like right off the battle, I was like, yes.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
We get this going, and they're just like, uh, oh
you can't. It's it starts off because they refer to
him as oh, it's his old coworker. So it's like, oh, okay,
so the Red Hulk used to work for AM. Okay, cool,
we got this going because it basically throws you right
in with into the mix of this like there's already
stuff that's been going on, and he is looking for

(09:20):
Modoc's big doomsday device and a bomb who is Rick Jones,
And he basically kind of looks like DC's Doomsday because
he's almost all like metallic and like spiky and blue
and blue.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
He's sort of got Zilla Hulk pretty.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Much like he has like a that kind of it
doesn't what this isn't what normally I remember a bomb
looking like, but it works well for the story because
he's also has the power of invisibility, so he's sitting
like on the like the wall there, and he's hiding
and Red Hulk is like, first off, they always refer
to him as the Red Hulk. They don't explain who

(10:00):
it is if it is, Yeah, you know who the
actual Red Hulk is because everyone else is Rick Jones
or Bruce Banner or Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
I guess we just are supposed to know.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah, so, I mean, it could be Thunderbolt Ross. We
don't know, but we're assuming it is because it's Red Hulk.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Is there anybody else who's ever read Hulk?

Speaker 1 (10:19):
I don't know. I've never been a Hulk is always
even one of those guys that I know. One of
the first comics I remember reading as a kid was
The Hulk, where Wolverine was introduced back in the seventies,
but Hulk was never I mean, my big exposure to
Hulk was watching the LUF Forigno Bill Bixby Show in
the seventies, and neither one of the Hulk movies are

(10:43):
like in my like, we didn't even watch The Incredible
Hulk when we did our like when I was catching
my wife up with some of the Marvel stuff back then,
because it kind of seems like, yeah, well these aren't
the same actors, and.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
The AI overview of my Google search says yes. In
Marvel comics, Red Hulk is always the all your ego
of General Thaddeus Thunderbolt Russ.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Okay, well there we go, Thank you Internet. So they're
at this ame facility and they're looking for Moodox big device,
and Bruce has a bomb shadowing Red Hulk because he
doesn't trust.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Him in nobody trusts anybody, and.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Nobody trust anybody. Nobody would Yeah, and you don't know
because you don't know whose side is not who is on.
But he also doesn't want to get too cozy with
his former partners. This is what Bruce says to Rick
about Red Hulk. And so basically this place is mostly automated,
and they open the door and it's like, oh, Modroc
is here. Nope, it's a clone. They explain what happens.

(11:43):
They cut the brain function of these things immediately, and
the brains are pretty much just organic hard drives for Aim.
And then he harvests the organs for because he wears
his organs out really fast.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Because because he's all, you know, messed up.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Yeah, and they show later on especially they just heart.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Like that.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
It's basically just like, oh, yeah, you got the clones
for like just Harvest's disorganed. This this comes into play
later on like an issue like three or four two.
So they are let's see, Oh there's a hulk bot
that is in the next room, but it has a

(12:24):
recorded history lesson and now this is where in my
notes that says read from the comic. Yeah, so there
is a first off, there is a CD that comes
with this. So it's twenty ten. It's a CD that
comes with it, and it says the history of the vessel.
Cosmos Automaton now referred to in its current uses as
Cosmic Hulk. It is a self replicating program slash entity,

(12:47):
an artificial life form that must be developed by a
native of its based world. Once built, the synthetic entity
must osmose any available band of the spectrum of cosmic
energy in the base world solar system. Wow. Okay, it's
a lot to take in right there.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
I think I read that four times and I still
don't know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Typically this would be hydrogen fission hulks. Like, I don't care.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Yeah, I keep going like too much talking.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Ex this is like I was, like word, and we
really don't have any of like the grunt hulks in
this thing. I mean one of them reverts a bit,
but that's a whole different story. Was Yeah, it continues
the cosmos. The cosmos Automaton exists primarily as a data
loop that probes the universe seeking a mental receptacle that
can give it form. This data loop reached saw three

(13:32):
slash Earth eleven cycles ago. The data loop found a
Professor Gregson Gilbert, a scientist at Empire State University. Like
all the hosts of the data loop, Gregson was compelled
to build a synthetic host body. Gilbert largely based his
frame on what he considered to be a powerful enough model, Dinosauria,
which is this purple dinosaur looking guy whatever. Before activation,

(13:55):
it was triggered by the alchemist Diablu. Though successful, it
did not mean to criteria area of the Cosmo's automaton
program requiring completion. The data loop found another suitable mind,
the scientists known as the Mad Thinker. This man already
had experienced building battle robots. Compelled by the program to
choose a form that inspired fear in the public psyche,
Mad Thinker based the armature on the transformed scientist Bruce Banner,

(14:19):
was properly known as the gammera radiated hulk. Once completed,
Thinker locked the Cosmic Hulk away. I'm sure is why
he made it, and thus distrustful of the Android. Three
years later, a group of engineering students found the automaton
and tried to claim development of it. It was brought
above ground. The Cosmic Hulk absorbed an unnatural burst of
energy caused by a group of advanced beings. And none

(14:42):
of these people, I mean they have the high evolutionary
looks like one of them. And I don't know who
most of these people are. Finally, the Cosmic Hulk was
charged and active. He embarked on the destructive rampage until
it was put in sleep mode by the ancient beings
who released the Cosmic and then by this time Hulk
just takes the things, smashes Red Hulk does.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Like honestly same, I was so like, I don't care
about all this. The important thing to take it from
all of that is the Cosmos automaton, the Cosmos automation
data loop. That's the important thing. So like, I don't
think any of the rest of it mattered.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Basically, it was alien, it was powerful, and it should
stay off. So the Red Hulk gets too close to
it because he's gonna try to like turn it off,
and he accidentally react based it and it's speaking this
alien language. And then Hulk Green Hulk, this is the Hulk,
like the grunting one, reassesses it and all of a

(15:37):
sudden learns English and he throws Red Hulk through the
ceiling and he fights both a Bomb and Red Hulk,
and he gets orders to dispatch them and then proceed
to point to two. So he flies away, and the
first time when I see that, he goes, oh, he
flies out, And I just thought of exactly a Rise
of Skywalker when the Stormtroopers like.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
They fly now they fly now, this old thing was
the trap that the Leader and Modoc set for Rehd
Hulk because he has that same gamma cosmic energy that
is needed to reactivate it.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
So all of a sudden, they're like self destruct sequence
in six seconds and the base blows up. But they
obviously these are two main guys in the story, and
they escape too. Bruce Banner's secret base the cave. Abomb
and Red Hulk talk and Cosmic Hulk wasn't at full
power and they sent him away to absorb more cosmic power,

(16:31):
and they're like, oh my god, this guy wasn't at
full power and he kicked a crap out of both
of us. So yeah, we're in big trouble. So Abomb
gives Bruce the CD. Ten minutes later, Bruce was all
caught up and he's like, oh, I can ask this
thing questions. Cool. He finds out it was created by
Galactis because before he had the Heralds, this thing was

(16:56):
what they used to go and you know, get it
to the law.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Was like ready to be eaten basically right.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
But the thing was though, is that being an automaton,
several of them are reprogrammed in order to fight Galactus
and so then he just like got rid of that
and got the heralds and this is where they find
out that there's like seventy overdue discs to the Library
of Alexandria. And I'm like, wait, what are we talking
about the ancient thing? Or is this talking about something

(17:23):
completely different than the planet I had? I was intrigued,
but they really don't talk about that.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
No, they don't.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
And there for plot, they're trying to find out how
to fight this or figure out how to fight this,
and Bruce is like, I don't hulk out anymore. And
right now Modoc and Leader because they pretty much want
to have balances out. It's sort of the reason why
why Civil War, why Thor and Hulk were like sent
away because they couldn't be part of that fight because

(17:50):
they were too overpowered unless they were on opposite size.
So right now they want to try to balance the
scale with which team has more Hulks. And they figure
out that modocn Leader has Samson and what they call Red,
which I'm assuming is we find out later about that
Bruce has Scar and maybe Scar is the Bruce's kid

(18:14):
in that's the guy that they introduced into the end
of She Hulk but I'm not sure what his connection
is in this because I don't.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Think he was show up. Okay, I don't think.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Well, he doesn't show up in this story. Yeah, Jen
Walters basically doesn't either.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
But they go, well, because she's missing or something, they.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Should they show her in one flashback when she went
to go beat the crap out of Red Hulk. But
then they're like, well, red Hulk goes, well, there is
another another that's that's the thing too is as soon
as he goes there is another reminds me of Yoda
saying about there is Star Wars references and you may
have influence on this other Bruce, seeing as how she's

(18:56):
your daughter, and he's like what, And then that's how
this episode issue ends. But then they also give you
further reading from the Library of Alexandria data discs, where
it's just like six pages of stuff that is basically
tied to this from looks like comics back thirty years.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yeah, it does looks old eighties.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
So Issue TOO is called the Deal and he's like, wait,
my daughter, how And they talk about there's this woman
from the future Thundra. She came back in time on
an unstable time machine to face the Green Hulk. Basically
it was for historical purposes to inspire her future forces,

(19:36):
because in the future, like men and women are at
odds with each other and they don't even like come
together to approcreate anymore. It's all like in vitro and unnaturally,
it's all like almost like futuristic, like what was that
movie Gatica where it's like no one gives birth anymore.
They're all just like harvested and broad.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Toude that's harvesting going on.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Yeah, So, but she came back and in time and
she couldn't beat him, but she ended up getting his
cheek DNA and do it in vitro fertilization. It was
she got pregnant with a girl who would take Thundrous
place Lira the Savage she Hulk, And in the twenty

(20:19):
third century it was where they come. It's like man,
girls know this at birth. It's common knowledge. They teach
us to them in like first grade schooling for the
females on that side. And so Bruce is like, Okay,
well where is she now? Well, she's still here. She's
working with the Leader with Wizard Claw and the Trapster
and the Frightful for whatever they're calling him, and they're like, well,

(20:41):
why them, Well, because Wizard helped Thunder when she arrived.
But Bruce, you need to convince her to come join
our team. And then Red Hulk is kind of like
he's at this point you're already realizing like he's sus
I mean, he is like suspicious and you can't trust

(21:02):
him because obviously they couldn't trust him to begin with.
While they sent a bomb to spy on him, Bruce
did so. Basically what happened was they read hook leaves
and I don't know who he's talking to, but he's like, ooh,
I left out some of the details because Bruce was
on a need to know basis him. He's like, he

(21:24):
doesn't need to know. It's basically for us as readers
to know.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
This part internal villain monologue exactly.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
He's monologuing to himself to the readers of this story. Yeah,
what happened was is, like I said, she came back
in this roockety time machine and she couldn't establish a
temporal bridge back to her main time to get back there.
So the Fantastic for It tried to help her out
but couldn't. And then they decide that they're going to
have to do it the long way and just wait

(21:52):
in time. So they send this message and she records
this thing on this desert orb that ends up being
like Lilah the Little Again, there's so many Star Wars
references in here, like Princess Leah's Little Droid from the
Obi Wan Kenobi series. It talks about like it has

(22:13):
information and can fight and do all this other stuff
and is like basically a friend to Thundra. And so
she stays out in the desert where she's like basically
hiding to be left alone. But the government has a
file on her. It's called Project Pegasus and the Intelligentsia,
which is basically the name for the Leader and Modoc
and you know, the mad Thinker and stuff like that.

(22:35):
That's they're called the Intelligentsia and they got a hold
of it. And that's how Red Hulk got all this
information because he was allied with them. Why again, he's
telling us this no idea just.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
So we know, just so we're in on the secret.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
So this is the part where he calls the Lady Liberators,
which was Thundra and She Hulk and Storm and Spider
Woman and Hellcat and Carol Danvers came to basically beat
his ass, and this sort of cleared his head, and
that's how he remembered what Leader's plans were for Thundra.

(23:12):
And so he's telling you because Red Holk goes out
now and this is the thing, is like, I don't
know if this is in present time or in the past.
When he's talking about they don't establish times because he's
like he approached. He goes out to the desert to
find Thundra and talks to her and he's like, so,
here's what the deal is. The Leader's gonna come to
you with a deal to try to get you back home.

(23:35):
And she's like, well, can he and he goes yes,
But Willie, M I don't know. These guys never really
come through on their promises, and they basically just get
what they need and dispose of them. So when you
go team with them, up with them when they show
their true colors, you can ride with me and then
we'll go from there. And then she's like why me,

(23:57):
and he goes, well, back in the day, you were
the only one that was willing to kill me as
Red Hulk, and so this is so she takes the
offer to join with up with the Leader and monoc
and those guys. So I think she was actually with
Wizard and Claw, which, by the way, that is the
comic representation of Ulysses Claw, which was Andy Serkis's character

(24:21):
from Black Panther. It's a lot different in the comic
than he was in the movie because this is one
he's almost like half robot. Samson does a double cross
on her, so this is when she teams up with him,
and there's another double cross. And then now that they're
wait until they go after Doom, and like I said,
if they come for you, come find me. They did. Wizard,

(24:43):
Claw and Trapster come back to find Thunder and she's
just like, what do you want me. She's like, well,
you need to do one more mission and then we'll
get you home. We want you to capture read Richards.
Like what my friend. They're like, yeah, just for bit.
Don't worry. This isn't this isn't going to be a problem.
And she's just like, I don't know why. So Claw

(25:05):
tries to convince her in quotes and so this traps
her and he like has this machine that basically makes
this big giant hand and smashes her into the ground
and the trapster manipulates the ground like stuck her it,
and they're basically torturing her. Yeah, and then they're like, oh, wait,
we can go try to convince her. They're going to

(25:26):
smash the robot with the genetic sample, which I'm assuming
is the genetic sample of Bruce that is going to
help make it. It's like, so, is this the time
before she was pregnant, after she was pregnant, set the
kid in the future.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
It does doesn't, honestly, no earthly idea. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
So this is when Red Hulk shows up and she's like, oh,
because she he gave her this like life alert button
that if she's in trouble, hit it and nipeball, I
can't get up, Okay, come help me, Red Holk. And
he's like, I got here really quick because I was
only I was only one state away. So if you remember,
like the Hulk can like fly really fast when he jumps,

(26:04):
he's like going hundreds of miles an hour. And the
Thinker and all those guys they escape, and this is
when he tells her It's like, why are you in
the desert and not in New York City? So this
has to be way later on, because she's back in
the place where she met him, the first place where
he like convinces her. So I'm like, they don't say
like later on. Beforehand, he just starts he's telling the story. Yeah,

(26:29):
and she's like, well, I'm avoiding the one person who
I want more than anything to see, and that is Lira,
and she just arrived in this time. But it could
be a variant because they don't know, and so she
is not really sure one hundred percent of this is
actually her physical daughter. But in the meantime, the intelligence,

(26:51):
the intelligency gets a hold of read and they get
ahold of Challa and Bruce and Red Hulk let that happen.
They knew what was going on. They let it happen
because that was just basically, this is a way for
them to find intelligents. Yea how they don't explain, but whatever,
that's not no point to it. Lira took Thundra's spot

(27:12):
on the Frightful four after she gets there, and so
now for some reason they know that Doom's castle is open,
so Red Hulk and Thunder go to Doom's Castle.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
I have no idea what this part had anything to
do with anything.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Well, they go to Doom's castle because when they get
there they find the time machine that she used to
come back in time. But when they're there, the nose
Feratu guards, which is because Doom not only as a scientist,
he deals in the occult. So you know, fitting timing
right now with the Noserati movie out there. These guys

(27:45):
are fighting them and they're going after a Hope because
he's got the best blood. And with the time machine though,
they do a temporal shift complete boom, they send her
to the future and he's like, oh my god, what
in the future. She's like, yeah, I just sent this
like twelve hours because you know, I don't want to
deal with all that. No, so he she takes him

(28:06):
and the time machine to the place where her people
in the future found the time machine and she's hiding it,
so she's basically creating a paradox loop for herself, which
in some ways it sort of like reminds me of like,
you know, Bill and Ted's exited adventures, like we got
to remember in the future to hide the keys here
behind the bushes, and they walk by the bushes like, oh,
here's the keys. You know, we found them, so we

(28:27):
got to make sure to do it later if you know,
then what's happened. So it is actually the same one
that uh, that she used before, and then it can
find its way back to the future because it has
that link because it's the same thing. So it is
the physical same time machine from the past in the future,

(28:49):
in the past again. Yeah, however that means itself. She'll
help if she can, So she kisses Red Hulk, and
Red Hulk starts thinking it's like, wait, am I the
dead Like no, no, no, larr is green, but it
should be me because I was the one that facilitated
this whole thing. I made it happen. And then he's

(29:11):
just like he's like, I don't want any more of
the science talk. I want to talk about the one
thing I can't really deal with, and that's trusting people.
And he's still in the desert, and again this issue
ends with a bomb. Rick Jones is sitting there lurking,
spying on all this stuff that's happening.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Yeah, so wherever and whenever it took place, because we
don't actually know.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
I think this part there was like in the current time,
because it's like setting the things more into the future,
and we know that that's probably who read was they
were talking about in issue one, because Ler is back
in modern time, the current timeline when they're doing it.
So it's weird. Issue three, the adult issue, which has

(29:54):
the best title because it is Doctor Strangelove's title, Twisted
a Bit, and it's call how I Learned to Stop
Worrying and Love the a Bomb. So Abomb attacks Red
Hulk for what he just saw him do and with Thundra,
and then a bomb gets hit hard and we get

(30:15):
a flashback sequence of how Rick Jones gets made into
a bomb by the intelligence. He It's just like, okay,
so now we're getting the.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
Learn wie, you're unnecessary.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
No, it just gives us. Basically, we find out that
he has they infused him with Blonski's Emil Blonski the
Abomination's DNA, because he was already killed off, I guess
by this time, because he was unsuitable to be you know,
he had some attributes, but he wasn't good enough to
stay on to be a Hulk that he was in

(30:44):
the Hulk movie. And because Rick Jones was part of
the prime Gamma event, and that's when they start blending
they blend him with like a cuddlefish's DNA, which makes
him invisible.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Jurassic World is calling.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Yeah, so it's just like, oh my god, what's going
on here? So now we get more flashbacks where Rick
knew about Red Hulk working with the Intelligentsia and he
wanted to tell Bruce, and right when he was about to,
Samson stopped him from telling him, and so then they
programmed the Intelligencia programmed a bomb to kill Bruce.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
Ye.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
Now this body now is a bomb, is the physical body,
but he still has Rick Jones's mind, so he is
an intelligent hulk, so to speak. So let's see back
to Bruce's layer in New Mexico current time. That was
the flashback to explain why Rick Jones was the way he.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Was, because everybody was really wondering.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Exactly because it was just like, Okay, there's a lot
of this backstory here. Where should we know about it? Okay, fine,
it's put. It's put in the book. They're trying to
figure out if this is a double cross again with
Red hu because Red Hulk shows up back in New
Mexico with Abe. Rick Jones tells Bruce what he just
saw with Red Hulk and he shows up and then

(32:13):
they start fighting, and then Bruce shows up in the
Redeemer armor, which is pretty much looks like a like
an early version of the Hookbuster armor. Yep, but he's
got like a clear head on it. Like it's very
Jack Kirkby, Yeah, exactly, but it needs to be. They're
they're hitting him and he's like, stop, I need this
to be one hundred percent for when abamb attacks me.

(32:34):
He's like, what are you talking about? And he's like,
because I know that you're programmed to.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Kill me.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
This is what the Intelligencia did. How he found it out.
I think it was last because he heard he heard
Rick heard Red Hulk talking about it, and so then
he's a thundress. So then Rick told Bruce about it.
And so the only way that they could purge this
out of his sister is system is by triggering it.
And they're like, well, it's not a word. They don't

(33:03):
think that would be too easy if it was just
like a word to trigger it, like a or even
the sequence that would that triggers you know, Bucky when
he's the Winner Soldier. But it's got to be a situation.
So they decide oh. The thing that must trigger him
to kill Bruce is when someone else is trying to
kill Bruce. So he tells he takes the glass helmet

(33:25):
thing off. It almost looks like a like a like
a scuba gear like that old timing like Gi Joe
with a big clear head on it. And he goes, hey,
red hook, start crushing my skull. And he starts yelling
at Abam to help him, but Abomb attacks him. So
this is when Bruce starts telling Rick like, you got
to stop. He pleads it's not working, and then he's

(33:46):
telling him, he's like, you know what it's like to
kill That's not you. You're about life. You helped the
Avengers this and that, and then Rick's just like die
Die Di Di di. And Bruce gets thrown against the wall
and the armor breaks off, so he's running after him.
They chase, and he's like, your anger comes from guilt,
and then he's like from what he's like from the

(34:07):
main Gamma event, it should have been you, not me
that got turned into the Hulk. And I forgive you, Rick,
It's not your fault. And it broke through, broke through somehow,
and we were like, oh, we both saved each other
right now, And that's pretty much how this issue ends.
It doesn't like basically pushed the story along end, it

(34:27):
doesn't do anything, no, but it's like, you know, we'll
be there for each other. So issue four it's called
best case scenario. We're at the Gamma base and this
is the recent past, so again it's a little bit
who knows it might be Like two weeks before it's
the recent past, and the intelligentsia is talking about their

(34:48):
plan for world domination. Red Hulk shows up and he's
kind of mad because he's like, they're sometimes when you're
so smart, neglect to think of the little things. And
he goes, war is not chess, it's not about logic.
It's people fighting to keep you from taking what's theirs.

(35:11):
And he's just like it. He brings up Vietnam, and
the main reason why the US had a pull out
of Vietnam because it was getting his butts kicked, is
because they weren't you know, they thought everyone was just
gonna surrender to them, and they're like, no, they fought
back to be a com fought back and kicked their
butts because it was on their territory. And so Modoc

(35:32):
is getting really pissed off at him at Red Hulk
for like, basically he's saying, get into some ordination. Okay, fine,
leaders more rational. He's like, we will account for irrational behavior.
And they're like, this isn't irrational, this is them. This
is just the way that they're thinking. They're protecting themselves.
And Modoc's like, you dare, and I thought he yelled science,

(35:54):
but I thought you said science. I'm like, what is
this This that makes no sense. It was like, oh, silence, Okay,
that makes more sense. But I just wanted to think
that Red Hulk is his yelling or Modoc's yelling science,
like that's his end all be all argument. So Modoc
keeps blasting Hulk and it's not doing anything, but what

(36:14):
it's doing is taking him out of the picture because
if you remember before, but the Hulk or the Modoc clones,
he's basically letting Modoc deplete himself from all the energy.
And so Modoc has to leave because he has to
go get new body parts because he was just like
what he was just doing was ruining all of his
like his optic nerves and other stuff, and he has

(36:36):
to go basically get like a retrofit to work, right,
So now it's just the leader in Red Hulk. And
he apologized for excluding Red Hulk from the strategy sessions,
and he goes, your main problem is the intelligences. Main
problem is you'll always lose to those that don't act

(36:56):
according to your plan. And if you don't factor into it,
then it's just going to end up. You're gonna end
up losing all the time. And in this case, it's
some kind of Hulk. So just give up now. So
basically I'm just gonna skip it. I don't have to
describe the whole thing. Leaders running through a whole bunch
of scenarios and Hulk.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Always ringstase VR set on.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
Yeah, and he's just going every even when Hulk has
like these gigantic like like batlith spikes through his chest,
Hulk still comes back and kills the leader every single time.
And he goes, I reject the idea that a green
caveman trumps my every outcome. This is not the way

(37:42):
it's supposed to go. But Red Hulk is right. And
Red Hulk again is being all lurky around like the
corner looking at it all this stuff, like you know,
I have basically implanted doubt into their minds. So now
weeks later, which I'm assuming it is like up to
the present time now because this was well never actually,
well we'll never do. Let's see, they find out where

(38:07):
Thundra possibly hid Doom's time machine and they were right,
and so they have the mad Thinker has this gamma
droid that he's like piloting from Afar to like knock
down the rock as they hit it in this like
like stone or a fist type things sticking out of
the ground, and that's where the time machine was, and

(38:29):
they want to make sure that the android doesn't damage
it because if he does, then Lira won't it'll it'll
mess with the future. And Lina doesn't come back to
help them, and then she doesn't join the Frightful Four,
and then there's no abduction of reading the others, and
so they want to make sure to just be careful
with it. So they're like, okay, well let's see what happens.

(38:51):
Open a portal to one year from now to see
what happened. And the desert that they were in is
now this lovely oasis and normal and Betty and the
Thinker are like a couple Betty Ross or Betsy Ross
who was Hulks Bruce Banners like love interest and the

(39:12):
thinker doesn't have this giant conical head. And Modoc looks
like this creepy like almost he's he's normal looking, but
he still kind of looks like a like an apeish.
His face is kind of like Sano's looking almost in
a bit. Yeah, and do I just wrote Doom is
just his brain dead looking burn victim. That's what he

(39:33):
looks like. He's basically just like, you know, what should
I do?

Speaker 3 (39:36):
My master?

Speaker 1 (39:37):
And there's a fallen Comrades statue which has like Red
Hulk and Claw and Wizard and the others, and they're like, oh,
you know what, we're happy with this future see off
the time machine again. But you know it, don't tell
like Claw and Wizard that they're going to die, because
that might just mess with our plans. And so somehow

(39:57):
Red Hulk and Bruce are looking on and the future
scenario that they just watched was just something that Bruce
programmed into it somehow. So now since they came close
to their goals, their overconfidence is going to be their
own self destruct device that causes the intelligencia to lose
and the last words are Red Hulks like Bruce, You're

(40:18):
starting to catch on the end the.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
End, Okay, I understand zero percent of it even after
all that.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
Yeah, So basically they just use the time machine to
put a false scenario in to get them over confident
and then thinking that whatever they're gonna do is gonna work.
And then probably the one thing that they put in
their doubt that they don't take an account for the
Hulks as it looks like they beat Red Hulk, is

(40:47):
that they'll end up beating them anyway. So you have
to keep issue reading into the follow of the Hulks
to find out.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
But this was just like a thing, probably just to
have his probably makes not isolated, but I don't know.
The Internet research said this would be a good one
to read. It does have Leader in it, it does
have Red Hulk.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
So the one problem I had with it was it's
just you didn't know when they were telling the stories,
like what was in the past, what was recollection? What
was the I mean, I'm assuming when they said distant
or near past when he explained his stories, and then
now a few weeks later that catches the back up again,
but it doesn't explain it. But it is kind of
funny that the logic that comes from like Red Hulk

(41:31):
seems to be the most calculating and logical one of
all of them is follow the Hulks.

Speaker 3 (41:38):
Right, He's just like playing everybody against each other sort
of pretty much so.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
To what end we don't know, right, but it gives
us a little bit of a look at what Red
Hulk can do as although it makes it look like
in the movie, at least from the trailer, the version
at Harrison Ford turns into might be at first more
like a you know, Benji is Aga Ultron type Hulk.
Where's the cave Man the monster? Right, so we'll see,

(42:10):
we will. Yeah, he's always angry.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
So from a movie exactly. So all right, well we
did that one. He wasting that on everybody.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Yeah, if you read the hubk beforehand, try to listen
to this episode to find out what we was talking
what they were talking about. But we really don't know.
I mean, at the end they think that because who knows,
they might have caught on to the fact that it's
like another double triple cross where the intelligencia knew that
Bruce and Red Hulk were watching, and then that they

(42:47):
knew that this was all the scenario that was actually
wasn't in the future because the way that Bred Hulk,
or the way that Leader and Modoc now didn't have
gigantic heads, like because he doesn't like Modoc decided to
become like a normal and he doesn't have like the
tiny arms and likes. He just looks like a regular
bipedal human.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
At that point, my brain cells weren't even rubbing together.
So I was just kind of like going through the motion.
What Ryan tell me what this was about.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
I really don't know, well, because when we talked about
it earlier, you were like, was the whole thing like
a like a just a simulation. I'm like there were
some parts of it there were, but some parts weren't.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
I don't know, though. I mean, I guess maybe that
was the whole point. Maybe the point was just to
confuse us.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Anyways, we should probably have more fun, because I think
we did. Didn't we do four Falcon in the Winter Soldier?
We did a sam run back.

Speaker 3 (43:43):
We did we did the Falcon in the Winter Soldier run.
If I'm remembering correctly and pulling it up here, Uh,
I can't.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
I'm typing the wrong thing here. Find that Falcon fact. Yeah,
we did Falcon in the Winter Soldier twenty twenty one
to five, and All New Captain America twenty fourteen one.

Speaker 3 (44:03):
So this was the next year's Sam Wilson and uh
from twenty fifteen, which was the start of the all new,
all different or was that twenty fourteen? I can't. Oh,
obviously it was twenty fourteen because it says it right.
They're all new Captain America. So yeah, and I think
it will be good.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
And this one has more in mind too when it
comes out in twenty fifteen, Like they don't know, but
they already know that with Captain America being Sam Wilson,
they could sort of mold it to be like Anthony
Mackie's Yeah, Sam Wilson. Where That's the.

Speaker 3 (44:36):
Nice thing about reading the comics like from twenty fifteen
on is they are more MCU minded, even though they
don't have to go with the MCU. Not if there's
anything wrong with comics that came before, but it's just
because of what we do it makes more sense.

Speaker 1 (44:51):
Right, And sometimes I can confuse people.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
This has maybe got the Serpent Society and this one
should be pretty good. I'm excited. Yes.

Speaker 1 (45:00):
So that is Captain America Sam Wilson from twenty fifteen
issues one through six, So that'll be next week, and
then after that we've got Daredevil Daredevil. I think we're
probably throwing there too, like an episode of when does
Daredevil start? March fourth?

Speaker 3 (45:18):
It starts, yeah, that week of the second primer.

Speaker 1 (45:22):
Okay, so we can probably throw in like our review
in comparison of Friendly Neighborhood spider Man sometime up soon too,
because I think the only thing. The other thing we
have scheduled right now is our sacred edit text Deceived
Darth Maugus novel, which will come out sometime next month.
So yeah, we we'll get there.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
We'll let you know what's happening.

Speaker 1 (45:42):
Yeah, just follow us on socials and other things, which
if you want to learn how to do that, Haley
will tell you. Right now.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
You can get on your phone and download the apps
that everybody has. We are on Instagram and Twitter and Facebook,
and you can email us what you thought of this
bizarre comic. Run at Spark Podcasts or Sparkpodcasts at gmail
dot com, Spark with Ac and then check out everything
going on on the network at Strandedpanda dot com.

Speaker 1 (46:10):
And we got a list here of what we call
our podcast buddies, which are some shows that we think
you should check out because they're cool or they're ones
that we have that are like, we're also on so
other podcasts we do. So we've got a Across the
by Frost and Mighty thour Dan and Een Have Questions,
which is kind of on a hiatus because there's another
show called So Weird, So Fun that they are doing

(46:32):
with me, which is another one of our shows now
where we talk about just like a whole bunch of
cool stuff. We've got Commute the podcast Sega Bits, Mocktails
of the Cantina Rebel Force Radio presents the Babu Freaks,
Jack Kirby and the Star Wars Yo Universe, which is
hosted by our good friend and other Sacred Jedi text

(46:53):
member James Hewings. Now, someone did mention to me why
I don't mention the Multi Verse News is that that's
on the main So that's why it's sort of just
like you just go there. It's a catch all for
everything that's on the network.

Speaker 3 (47:09):
So that's a Landa dot com.

Speaker 1 (47:11):
It's on a Strandedpana dot com. So all right, anything
else we need to talk about, and maybe by this
time next week, actually when we record next week, will
either have Haley in a good mood if Kansas City wins,
or in a bad mood of Philadelphia wins.

Speaker 3 (47:24):
So scary, I know, we.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
With it now. You've won two in a row and
three of the last four.

Speaker 3 (47:30):
Seedy, greedy, greedy. That's how we're just so greedy over
here in Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
You ain't got much else to do with there beside
the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (47:38):
Right whatever. You've never been to Kansas.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
City sports, go, No.

Speaker 3 (47:44):
We have all kinds of cool things happening in the
state or in that area. We have the Casey current
women's soccer team, We've got a sporting case. We've got
the Royals, we've got the Chiefs, We've got all kinds
of things.

Speaker 1 (48:00):
You get good barbecue.

Speaker 3 (48:01):
You still claim to be a Bears fan, so you
know that's on you.

Speaker 1 (48:06):
I know, hey, we didn't. It wasn't too long. I
was just thinking too. It's like some of my friends
are just like it hasn't been too long, Like the
Bears won thirty nine years ago. This is Super Bowl
fifty nine, they won slive. Yet I don't even consider
the last sports team in Chicago. Not talking about sports
too much here, but the last team in Chicago to
win something was the Cubs, and that was eight years ago.

(48:30):
That was in twenty sixteen.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
So does don't come at me with your haterraid.

Speaker 1 (48:35):
No, we'll just see how the reps give it to him. Anyways,
I was so already. So there's our sports talk. But yeah,
until nobody wanted. Until we talk again next week. Remember
two things, be excellent to each other and never judge

(48:55):
a book by his movie.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
