Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now on Source Pages, we are going to be
heading into the Dreaming and meeting up with some of
the Endless as we talk about The Sandman, and we're
going to be discussing the seasons of Miss storyline season
and miss seasons and Miss whatever. It's one of the
main things that they're going to be talking about on
season two of The Sandman, which drops relatively soon. But first.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
It's time for the podcast. Welcome back, my fellow Endless.
I'm Haley Hobbes and I'm Brian B.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Klein, and it's.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
The Source Pages where we read comics and novels and
graphic novels as primers for all the geeky TV shows
and movies we love to watch, such as The Sandman.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yeah, this is I was looking back on our history
of this and The Sandman Season one, I believe is
the only show or movie or whatever that we had
to do. We did two review episodes of it because yeah,
and I mean it was pretty much just a you know,
(01:21):
we could have probably been one three hour episode, but
I'm sure you guys don't want to be dealing with that, but.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
And challenge.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah, and in this case, we're actually going to be
each one of us had a different source for what
we are covering on this because of I listened to
the audible audio representation of it, which is pretty much
almost verbatim. I mean it, it is the comics, and
they describe even like the scenes were like at the
(01:50):
beginning when they're sitting there all the endless are gathering
in Destiny's room or whatever you want to call it,
and the audio book or the audio drama like this
ribes this is what dream looks like, this is what
delirium looks like. This is what this So it's sort
of it's the exact same thing, but it just it's
easier for me, especially with all the work I've been
(02:11):
doing lately, to just take three hours and listen to
the audio version of it, which I would suggest anyone
it has audible. There's three versions or three acts of it.
They go through the first I think they cover pretty
much most of it, if not all of it, But
I mean sam An ran for a while and then
off shot into other stuff, and who knows, we were
(02:35):
not going to touch with a fifty foot poll anything
that is being related to the creator of this thing
right now. So that's you.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Know, you have to say about that, yeah, about him.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Although the thing what Netflix said was is that, well,
we were all planning on just doing it in two seasons,
Like no, you weren't.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
I mean, yeah, they have to say something.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Because unless they end it and jump, because they did
say that a lot of the filler stuff is going
to focus I mean, the season's going to focus on
dream like season one did. But then if you remember,
they added that extra episode like a couple of weeks
later where they did the Dream of a Thousand Cats,
which I loved that episode and just being a cat
(03:18):
owner now being like, yeah, the reason why it wouldn't
work is like you can't get a thousand cats to
all agree on something. And then what was the calliope?
The one with the muse with the the writer Arthur
Darbal who was in Doctor Who. And by the way,
did you see any thing I posted in our group
chat about what happened this weekend at Glastonbury.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Where I didn't watch it.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Oh yeah, Peter Capaldi jumped on stage with Frans Ferdinand
to do a rendition of Take You Out, and it
was it was really cool. That's mad as Mouse. Yeah whatever,
I don't care, It's just about the same time frame.
But yeah, I'm trying to think what else? What is
(04:05):
this actually.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Drops on Friday Thursday.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Yeah, it's the first so many episodes, and then they're
going to release a few more on the twenty fourth,
and then I think the thirty first they're doing like
the bonus episode, which it might be. It's whatever one
is going to not you know, fit into the whole
Dream storyline because a lot of the stuff we've already
(04:30):
talked about it. We've done primers, we watched the show.
We did a review of The Dead Boy Detectives, which
was an offshoot of stories that they didn't use from
season one and season two of or the X whatever
you want to call it, the comics, which is one
of the that it falls into. What was the chapter
(04:51):
It was right around the interlude, right around the middle,
right where they talk about what's happening with you know,
what's going on with the two guys Arth was a
charge Garrels and.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Oh god, I can't remember anything today.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
It was the two main characters of the Dead Boy
Detective show that was on Netflix, and it has nothing
to do with Dream except for the fact that all
of the stuff happened when Dream was in that century long,
you know, yeah, when he was no one was you know, dreaming,
(05:26):
and no one was doing all that other like you know,
the whole thing from season one. So anything trying to
think we can what happened. It's been a kind of
a slow news week is for anything. I don't know
if it's just going to be. And it's the thing too,
is like San Diego is coming up in a month,
(05:46):
and I don't think like Marvel's not gonna be this year,
So it's pretty much going to be very low key.
Although they don't have I mean, yeah exactly Loki. Speaking
of Loki, I was looking like next year all they
have is like they're after Fantastic four. Their next movie
(06:08):
is then Spider Man and then Avengers Avengers at Christmas
because everything I pushed around and we don't have anything
gearant or like for next season or next year for
twenty twenty six for like television.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Shows, do we know, I don't think so they haven't
announced anything. I still, you know, I've beat the drum
that I think wonder Man is going to get pushed
to next year. But yeah, because iron Heart came out,
have you watched it?
Speaker 1 (06:33):
We watched the first episode it's been just time wise.
There's certain things that Liz and I want to watch together,
and we found out with like and Or, I had
to watch it, like I couldn't physically wait, and so
I would watch it and then we would watch it
together over a couple of days, you know the rest
(06:54):
of them the but with Ironheart, it's been like this
past week, I'm going to bed by nine thirty because
I got to get up at five thirty and she's
getting the kids down at about and ready to be like, hey,
nine to fifteen, you want to watch a show. It's like, no,
I'm about ready to well sleep now. Plus with the
weather here, it's just like as soon as I don't
(07:14):
even have that ten minute of like my bot when
I sit down to watch TV going like, okay, are
you sure you shouldn't now now, because I'll fall asleep now.
It's pretty much just like I know I'm going to
I lay down and I'm out because it's been the
heat index here for the last ten days has been
over one hundred and it's just it's ridiculous. But I
(07:36):
enjoyed the first episode. I like how they pretty much
just uh kicked rewad to the curb and Mit. Literally yeah,
and I love too.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
How they banded or an ice pack or something. It's
so funny.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
I love that. I don't. I think we talked about it,
like you didn't watch Community, did you?
Speaker 2 (07:57):
I tried to start up years ago.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Okay, Well, Dean Fountain Jim Rash was the guy that
was the I mean, he kicked there. I was like,
oh my god, the Dean's back.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
That's fake arm injury.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Yeah, exactly. And he was played a d and again, wasn't.
He's like, I mean, I think he's pretty bach type
cast into something.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
But it's fun. I like it. I think you'll like it.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Yeah, I mean the first episode was interesting enough. I'm
getting used to the characterization they've had of the Hood
and I mean we only saw him in the first
and he really didn't do much more like but it's
like he's.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
The low point for me, just if I'm being honest. Okay,
But the rest of it I think is really fun.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
I'm gonna say, yeah, this is one of those ones
that just you know, by this time on Wednesday, it'll
already be done, so knock him the six episodes out.
But anyways, that's not why we're here today, we're here
to talk about Sam Man and pretty much just covering
the Seasons of Mist, which is the first I believe
(08:58):
it's the first. It's the name of the first episode
of season two. But I have a feeling that it's
going to be a little bit more than just the uh,
look at this thing here. I'm just pulling this up here. Listen. No, no, no, no, no, yeah,
(09:19):
they're releasing six on Oh yeah, so this episode season
will be twelve episodes Seasons of Missed, the Ruler of Hell,
more devils than dast Hell can hold.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
So we're gonna follow pretty closely.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, so I think those three right there, because then
number four is Brief Lives, the Song of Orpheus and
Family Blood that goes on to what the next story.
So we're pretty much going to talk about the first three,
uh episodes. If you remember just a brief thing, how
season one ended with the Devil pretty much being like
(09:58):
Lucifer Gwendolyn Christie being like, Okay, I'm gonna do something
that is going to cause Morpheus so much trouble the
and he, you know, capital h e, he is not
going to like it either. And then also Morpheus getting
(10:20):
into it with his I don't even know if I'm
want to. It's his sibling desire because he was one
net and pregnated Rose or Rose's great grandma to have
you know, the whole thing. And it's just like, oh, well,
if you would have had to kill her because she
was the the dream vortex, then you would be killing
your own blood, which you can't do. And then blah
blah blah. So what's the setup? This episode or this
(10:45):
the thing we're talking about now pretty much starts off
with who was a Destiny is. He's basically just you know,
doing his own thing, walking around wherever destinies don't is,
and the Hectata three, the Crone, the Mother, the the
(11:07):
them come and say, you know, there's going to be
trouble coming, and he's like, what are you talking about.
He's like, I'm Destiny. I see all this stuff, and
they're like, well, I see this. And it was all
based upon the fact that they need to have a
what does he call it, the like a conclave of
Endless or something.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Yeah, I believe, so.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
So Destiny goes and because Destiny was is the oldest,
he was the first, like he was created with everything,
like like when creation was created, because they've even said
it was like fourteen billion years, so it's pretty much
around the same time. It's like what the universe is.
(11:50):
So he has to call his five other known where
they're at siblings the one have you gotten to the
point where you know which sibling is missing? Because they
keeps saying it's.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
He actually, okay, yeah, spoiler.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Well it's destruction. Destruction was well I started, yeah, because yeah,
because we get yeah. Well That's the thing is though
most of them all have the it's like the well
it's not I'm out of po but it's sort of
alliteration because you've got destiny, and then we got dream
(12:29):
and death that we know of, and then the first
season we had desire, and then we had his twin sister,
which is despair, and then the other one is used
to be delight, but now it's delirium. And if you've
reckoned the audio books, it's voiced by Oh my god,
(12:51):
why can't I remember?
Speaker 2 (12:52):
I mean, I don't know you wanted to do this
get together, Brian.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
She was in Oh my uh she voices on so
I say her name, you're gonna be like, oh yeah,
it's because she doesn't. She never changes her voice. She's
on Bob's Burger. She was on What we Do in
the Shadows this past like the last three seasons.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Oh my god, it means nothing to me.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
You know the voice?
Speaker 2 (13:18):
What if I don't?
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Oh yeah, you know who exact will come the delirium
in sand Man.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Because this is riveting.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Death is Kristin. Shall you know who christ is?
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Chris Christian Kristin. I have no idea who that is?
Speaker 1 (13:40):
She is Kristin. You look at her like, oh yeah,
I know. Well Death is Cat Dennings. So you know,
my god, why can't think of her name from uh Darcy? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:54):
So anyways, that girl, I didn't know that girl's name.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Her voice is always like what she does a lot
of voiceovers. It's always her voice.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
So anyways, back to the rely scheduled program. Here he
calls them all and he goes, I met the fates.
We need to gather here, and then all of a
sudden they start ripping on dream for imprisoning Nada, who
(14:28):
was the African queen that like ten thousand years ago,
like didn't what did? They couldn't be together, and so
he basically banished her to hell.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
And we see Nada in season one. I'm pretty sure
he like, yeah, we do.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yeah, he walks by her and then he's shown to
her in the way that he goes her name. The
name she calls him is Kai cool because he was
thought it was like an African god as well. But
so basically they are ripping on him for this, and
he's just like.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
You're the worst ex boyfriend ever.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Yeah, and I don't know, I mean true. Yeah. So
he he's going like, Okay, well I gotta take care
of this.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
He takes the bait.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Yeah, so the whole point and then they go they
go away from this conclave. And then now that that
whole part of it where the is like, that's over,
that's done. So Morpheus goes back to the the Dreaming
and he's talking to he's gathering everyone of.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
The dreams caretaker, I forget their name.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
He's got Lucien, the librarian, and then the Matthew, the Raven.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
And the Jack Janitor, everybody, all of the people there
to tell him, hey, I'm going away because that he says,
it's been two years since he's been so everything.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Don't make a mess of my house again.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah, but they're all like, wait a second, we just
did this, and then he goes, well, here's what I'm
gonna do. I'm going back to Hell, which before it
was sort of just like they let him in because
Lucifer was playing with him. And then he's like, I
got to go back to Hell because I've got to
(16:24):
save Na, to sort of save face more than anything.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Yeah, because my siblings were teasing me.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, because the sibling and then even like because death
basically gives him some like crap about it too, it
was just like, yeah, that was kind of crappy what
she did.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
So it's like, yeah, they all lay it on him.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
So he's telling all, oh, yeah, you have to basically,
I mean even from he gets his come up and
later about it, which I think when little spoilers earlier,
when she just clocked like slaps them like clocks them,
I say, what do you do? She's like, what are
you gonna do to me? You've already done everything you
can do to me, you know, so, but they're just like,
(17:06):
yeah we could. The hell should be easy because Matthew's
like the Matthew the Raven is telling him, you know,
we should be able to sneak in easy and do
all this stuff. He's like, no, I'm gonna, you know,
let them know I'm coming. So and so he sends
Cain to go and let the Lucifer know that Dream
(17:27):
is coming. Doesn't say why, and it's pretty much a
good play. I think on Dreams part to send him
because he's got the mark of Cain, which was that
God put on his head saying, anybody kills this guy,
they're gonna suffer my eternal wrath. But the problem is
(17:50):
Lucifer knows this but doesn't stop him from Yeah, we
don't have to kill you. We could just torch the
hell out of you though, right, So I forgot what
part comes next with that where uh he was just
Kine was sitting there, but then Dream shows up, right,
(18:13):
I don't know if Dream just because basically Dream shows goes.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
To see hob as well, his friend that lives forever.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Oh yeah, So I forgot what part that that does
when he was saying oh yeah, because he tells him
to the same thing like yeah, I might not be
coming back if because I think that little part of
exposition was more like, well, you'll come back at some point,
because oh he also tells his minions in the dreaming, like, Uh,
(18:41):
if I don't come back, that means I'm being held
and like tortured. But if I do come back in
another form, that means I'm dead. But you just have
to like listen to the new dreaming or the new
dream orbeous. So but he tells he tells Hob the
same thing I think to be becauf. You remember in
(19:03):
season one where he missed it and then he came
back again and they had shut down the tavern and
he had to go to a new place and Dream
walks in and he goes, oh, there's my friend, because
that was the thing that in eighteen hundreds was just
like the only reason why you're coming to this is
that you're lonely, and he needed to front So I
think he was doing a telling Hob to be a
little more disrespectful of like, hey, I might miss our thing,
(19:26):
because it was like he said, I just saw you
two years ago, it's not eight years earlier. He's like, well,
I might not be back by then because Hobby, as
he said something funny, He's like, a long time to
you is just oh my god, I can't even fathom
that would be like in human years because he said, like,
hob is like seven hundred and forty some years old,
so anyways to go to Hell, and he was basically there.
(19:50):
I don't even think he brings up to or no
he goes to does he go to I don't know
if he goes to Lucifer first and doesn't even bothered
to go look for Nada because it is she's gone.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Well, yeah, as they show us that she's being held
in limbo.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Basically yeah, I think that that might have been because
at that point, the devil literally made his decision and
Azazel is sort of going like, Okay, I'm gonna use
this as my power play, as my extra bonus move.
But the big shock of all of it is is
that he's talking with Lucifer and Lucifer's like, yeah, you
know how I said I was gonna get you back,
(20:32):
and well I'm I'm done.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I actually give up.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yeah, I'm giving up. I'm closing. I'm shutting down Hell,
I'm closing up shop.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Here's my flesh. Key isn't nice it's yours now.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Well that's the thing is like he walks out, everything's
clear because he goes it's all empty because he'd already
emptied it all, and I think that's when a Zazel
knew was going on, and he took Nada and was like,
he took Nada, and then he befriended the devil that
had had Morpheus's helm and the spider woman. So he
(21:13):
walks out, locks the door because at one point dreams like,
my god, how big is this place. It's empty. It's
like goes on forever. And he's like, yeah, pretty much.
It's it's eternal. It's hell. So he walks out, locks
the door. When he's walking away, says, oh, hey, by
the way, I remember I told you I was going
to get you back here. It's yours. Now do what
(21:35):
you want, and dreams like, crap, what am I going
to do with an empty I didn't.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
This isn't what I wanted, and this is not what
I came here to do.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Now, this is not what I came here to do.
So we get after that, I think, a brief like
interlude with different godlike entities that are getting this information.
I don't know about in the comics, but in the audio,
you know, the first one we come to is Odin
and Loki going we need to get hell, and Loki
(22:06):
is voiced by David Tennant, and he is I mean,
if you guys know David Tennant's I mean, his voice
is instantly recognizable, and he plays Loki because this Loki
is a you think he's scheming in Marvel. This part
is these everybody's unhinged, especially when they're doing the whole
(22:30):
thing with you know. Uh, well, we'll get to it
in a second here where we go through a couple
of other things like as Azel's talking to is that
Corazone or whatever or qorans on Orson saying, Okay, we
know how we're gonna get though they're out scheming on
(22:50):
how they're going to get the key to Hell to
rule it, and he goes as as Azel says, I'm
going to do it because I've got I've got the
thing that he went to Hell in the first place for.
And then there's like fairies that wanted to get it,
and like a uh Egyptian gods, and then like the
(23:11):
cat god and everybody there, everything that you could think of, everybody,
any kind of deity. Yep. So what happens is like the.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Next day spread fast. It spread so.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Fast that like the next day, I think Matthew woke
up Dream quote unquote, he doesn't sleep, but he came
to it and he's like, there's a ton of people
here that are all trying to get your want to
want a meeting with you because they want to tell
you why they should be given the key to Hell.
(23:48):
And then so he's just like, okay, we're going to
have a feast. And then it's the introduction, was like,
who was it Kane? He was torturing his b I'm
not gonna lie. The amazing the magician like did his thing,
because you know that in the Bible, it's like the
(24:08):
cane Cain killed his brother and the Sandman's lower kan
is continuously killing his brother, right, And so he like,
abel is the man in the box and he saws
them in half. But then he shows him. He's like, no,
this is I actually did it. Here's his lower torso
and here's his upper toriso.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
And he's fine.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
So in the course of this smooth fest, people are
coming up to Dream being like.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Well, and they're all offering him. The thing they're all
trying to offer him is we know where your final
sibling is. We know where they are. And he's like,
that's not really what I care about.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
See in the audiobook, the only person that says that
she thinks she knows or she tells him she knows,
is the cat God. Everyone else was just like like,
we've got you know this for you and interesting for you,
We've got I think.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
That they were all offering the same thing.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Yeah, it was just like the fairies were coming up
saying like, well, every seven years we had to give
a like a sacrifice to Satan so or Lucifer, so
we don't want you to leave it open. And like
there's a couple of angels that were there and I
forgot what like thor and Odin authoris that's like completely
(25:29):
debatress drunk who's hitting on the cat God and.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Basically what a surprise debauchery and the Sandman god.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
He so he basically tells them that over the course
of like what he said, he'll send a like a
fire something, so when it comes to your door, follow
it and I'll take you to my chambers. And they
all pretty much plead their case to be like this
is why we should have it. The funniest one was
like the the genie with the cardboard box that basically
(26:09):
his master was in there and he would reach in
and give him a note and it was just like
thank you or like it was basically like the basic
the genie would be so like elaborate everything and then oh,
here's his message. I want help, Like it was so simple.
Fell Over the course of the night, he's talking to
you everybody, and he's just going on. He has to
(26:33):
listen to everyone, and everyone thinks that they're right, and
I think the only one that really kind of intrigued,
but it was Isasle because of the whole not a thing.
But when he tells me, he's like, I will let
you know my decision tomorrow is Zazel was like, what
are you talking about? I just literally gave you what
you wanted. You will give it to me now And
he's like that's not how it works. So he's sitting
(26:56):
there the next morning thinking I still have no idea
what to do, So knock on the door. The two
angels show up and they're over here. I know, but
I'm like a folio artist. I just knocked on my table.
They're like, we got a message for you. Like, what's
(27:19):
it say? It's like, I have no idea, but hold
on m hmm, okay, okay, uh yeah, God says, you
can't give it to anybody because it needs to be
you know, done. It has a purpose. It serves a
purpose because at the point too, it is here. One
thing I forgot to mention is when the Devil or
when Lucifer closed up shop, all those souls are like
(27:41):
returning to Earth. Everything was going back to where they
were coming to you. Yeah, because death was just like, yeah,
I can't talk to you right now, to your long dream.
I've got a major problem I got to deal with here.
So he's telling the mess He's telling the angels what
you know, God's giving him this message and then they're
like okay, what no, no, no, no, no no, because
(28:04):
basically what he's telling him is that you've got to
give these angels the key to Hell. And then God's
letting these angels know now that, yeah, you guys are
going to be the stewards. You have to stay there.
And they're just like, we'll never see the Silver City again,
We'll never be up in thet.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
We don't want to go to Hell.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Yeah. He's like, I'm going to defy it, just like
samui Al did who became Lucifer. The funniest part was
that there was two of them, but one of the
angels was the god or the angel of silence, and
so he wasn't saying anything the whole time.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
He was can't stand up for yourself, just deal with
somebody else.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
It reminded me a little bit of like Jay and
Silent Bob, because you had the one that was so
like it was like vociferous, and then the other one
was just like okay. So the next he then goes
to like where all of them are gathered and this
is like all of them are again explaining why we
(28:58):
should have it, and he's like, yeah, I'm not giving
it to any of you guys, and then he explains
what's going on. Yeah. Yeah, the one person that's like
pretty much could just come in and just make the
rules did because he goes, Hell has to have a
purpose and it has to be run by one of
(29:19):
his I mean he gave it to Lucifer because Lucifer
was a fallen angel. These two are not fallen angels,
but they're still one. It made still yeah, so it's
like he's still under God's you know, leadership, I guess,
and all of them are pretty much just like okay,
(29:42):
well I understand that point that that's a little bit
more of a we want to do it in order
to just have like some of them are just like,
we want to expand our kingdom. We want to be
able to have this area where we could torture him
freely or whatever. All of them are pretty cool with it,
except for his asshle. He was just like, how could
you know? He's like, you're not ever going to see
(30:03):
this person again. But then he goes, well, I did
tell you when he came here that you're under my protection,
including like the people you didn't tell me you had
with you or under my protection too, so that includes
NAA and Corizone and stuff like that. And he goes, yeah, whatever,
I refuse your hospitality. And so they go to fight,
(30:25):
like in Azazel's brain, like.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
You know, an existential crisis fight, right, And so he
doesn't last very long. Dream takes him down real vow no.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Dream takes him down really fast, and he puts them
in a jar. And then he's just like I'm gonna
let him do for a couple of millennia, and then
he comes back and is like, Okay, we're cool. Not
as he like, he he doesn't explain stuff to no
until later and the whole time, like Corizone, the I
(30:57):
forgot who the spider lady like had him like all
like we like webbed up and stuff because he yeah,
Mrkan was gonna give him to because mercan that was
the other thing that he was gonna give the dream
and dreams like, why do you want me to take
vengeance on this guy?
Speaker 2 (31:13):
What?
Speaker 1 (31:13):
No, that's a whatever.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
This isn't my fight.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
No, So all the rest of them are pretty much
just like, yeah, you can, you know, stay here and
do whatever, but you know, if you don't have to
go home. But he can't stay here anymore. So the
only one like they granted pretty much. They granted the
two fairies like an extra day because they wanted to stay,
(31:37):
and the male fairy was just like, I'm leaving, and
then the female one was with him was like, wait
a second, why not come with Oh yeah, by the way,
I didn't I forgot to tell you didn't. I you're
staying because you were a gift to Dream And she's
like what and he's like, uh, not to sound like jerk,
but I don't want her, but he then ends up
(32:00):
being like she reverts to her true form and everything.
But he's like, you'll be here as my guest. You're
not going to be anything more than you you guys,
you'll have to stay in the dreaming, but you're not
going to be like a servant or a slave or
you know, torture nothing. You'll be free to do what
you want. And then he like gets attacked by the
the Japanese warrior god guy and then he tells him like, okay, stop,
(32:27):
I know you're Loki.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Yeah you're not.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
This guy didn't because like during the whole thing with
the Zazzo when he was they were having that whole confrontation,
he like swap places with them, but they I don't
know if they said what happened to the actual Japanese god,
but they he pleads with them, like Loki does the
whole trickster thing, but dreams like, you know what, I
don't have time to deal with this. I'm gonna make
a copy and then you'll go back to Odin or
(32:53):
whatever and Spartleheim or Anaheim and then Loki can just
go do whatever he wants. And then so then the
next thing he does is he has to talk to
Nada and he explained like she was, she's still pissed,
like right, and because he was just basically it was
(33:19):
like she didn't want to like didn't want to be
with him in that way, and because once they figured
out what was going on, they couldn't live together. So
she basically like denied his advances that he wanted because
the only time he's ever fallen in love and this
is what's happened. And then she like just flat out
cold cox him, and that's when he's just like, you
(33:40):
can't hit me, And she said, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Like I did?
Speaker 1 (33:43):
If you kill me, it'll actually be good for me,
But are you good? There's no you could. You can't
send me back to.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Offer me.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
So basically he gives her the the option again she
says no, but she also says you can come with me,
and he's like, I'll basically give you two options, and
then they like cut away whatever, And then I forgot
what happens after that, But it's not really that important.
I think he's basically just like finishing up, like clearing
(34:12):
everybody out of there and making sure everyone's not like
like Thor wasn't.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
You know I skimmed again?
Speaker 1 (34:21):
Yeah, Thor wasn't sitting there or whatever. So then Nadas like, well,
I'm gonna take the second option. He's like, you sure,
and she basically disappears but gets reincarnated into a newborn.
I think it sounded like it was like a Japanese
child or an Asian.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
Yeah it was in Hong Kong.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
It was in Hong Kong, Okay. So then she gets
she gets reincarnated. She has a new life and she
won't remember anything about Kai Kool or Dream or Morpheus
or any of that stuff. And it's just going to
be a clean slate and she'll have another life to
live what she wants, to do what she wants.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
It's a very nice way to apologize for being the
world's biggest grade A asshole, right exactly.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
So we cut the hell and as Zazel was having
so much fun like torturing this guy and the one,
they said, he how it looks pretty much the same,
except for now there's this one like ivory tower in
there which they can look over everything. And because the
angels aren't the ones running it, aren't demons or whatever,
but they need to be able to, you know, see
what's going on. So what the one comes and says, hey,
(35:21):
we don't do that. Now. We're going to punish people,
but we're gonna punish to rehabilitate. We're not going to
torture for fun, as it wasn't having that. But he's like,
what are you gonna do? You know, I'm I'm here. Yeah,
you're gonna be pissed, but it's not gonna change to me.
And then the guy that's getting torched because there's been
something like there was when they were clearing out all
(35:42):
the the uh, the demons and all the people in Hell. Earlier,
when Lucifer and Dream were walking around, there was this
one guy who like one hundred thousand years ago, was
like a Middle Eastern ruler who just beat people to death,
and he was like he was in knowing the torture
in Hell. But they're just like, no one knows who
(36:04):
you are anymore. It's like you're not. It almost reminds
me of nandor the Relentless on what we do in
the Shadows is that he just is like it was
so like bad then, but nowadays it's like no one
has any idea with this person. His history has never
not remembered him so exactly, it's like the thing that
you did to do what you the thing, the reason
why you did what you did never happened, so yeah, sorry,
(36:28):
try again. So they're just like, yeah, so now Hell
is going to be more of like a rehab center
instead of like a torture prison.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
So, but the last scene is this old dude going
up to some beach bump in Australia being like, hey,
what's going on man? And he's like, yeah, he's just chilling.
He's like, oh, you're bum beach bump seeping on the sand.
He's like yeah, it could be fun and all this
other stuff. And you find out that beach bumb is Lucifer.
That's what he's doing now. He's just chilling in the
Australian beach being like, okay.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
What up my brothers? And Lucifer has no wings anymore
because part of him leaving Hell was Morpheus had to
cut them off, which was kind of nearly oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
In the audio thing, it's like you can hear him screaming,
and you can.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Hear like, this is why I didn't listen to that
this time. I was like, first of all, I'm not
wasting an audible credit on that person, and second of all,
absolutely not. I learned my lesson the first time you
made me listen to that crap.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Never I am. It's just like I said, for me,
it's so much easier, And I've read the comics up
to the same point to see like sometimes you like
you hear it, and then the visualization of it. That's
why it's really going to be cool to see what
they've done, because this isn't like a primer so much
that it's going to be like this could be like
(37:50):
this is actually what's going to be used. It depends
on what form they're going to take and how they're
going to do it, because I know that season two
is going to focus pretty much on the Dream and
like his family the Endless because if you look at
all the names of the the titles and stuff like that,
(38:11):
it's all based on like the family and all that.
So any of the little interlude stories like we talked
to like the Dead Boy Detectives and they even like
hob which was a full episode in actually it was
the episode after like when Death and him were like
walking around and being like what can we do to
see what's going on here? In humanity? I think that'll
be a lot less, but all of this was all
(38:34):
done and finished because we got to think about it
like that was it's been two years or three years since.
I think it's been three years of twenty twenty two
is when September twenty twenty two is when, yeah, let
me see.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
When we do implies when you're having fun or something.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Yeah, our Sandman primer was on August first, August first,
twenty twenty two, So that was it's been almost three years.
And that doesn't seem like it's that like different than
what goes on in most streaming things today. But that
means you know.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Well there was a lot that happened between then and now, so.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Oh yeah, with strikes and other stuff like that too.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
So all kinds of things indeed.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
Anyway, so that's how that first part ends. There's gonna
be a lot more to it. But I figured also
this was would be enough to get you know, at
least your appetite, you know, quenched it without being too
into it and being like this is what you're going
to see. You be a little surprised. They might change
(39:36):
it up a bit, but I don't think at the
end they're gonna be like not give hell to dream
and he doesn't have to deal with what's going on,
because I'm pretty sure that's like a big major selling
point of what the whole storyline is. I just want
to see how they're gonna go further with the family
dynamic of the because I think after this, when they
come back, then they finally go and like, we're gonna
(39:56):
look for destruction. We're gonna look for our brother because
we need to have him. So, which to me is
it makes a little bit of It doesn't make much
sense that destruction is the one that's gone because war
is usually you know, war and destruction go together, and
there's nothing but.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
War in I'm like, you've read these books, not me.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Yeah, well I didn't get as I just try. I'm
thinking now is I don't think I got due. There
was supposed to be one more act in the audible thing,
but since he's he was the narrator of them, I'm
pretty sure we're not going to see him anymore. So
always have to continue the story about finishing them off
on the comics, which are on DC Unlimited or DC.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
And I think most of them are on Kindle Unlimited
right now too, because that's how I read.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
It cool, so we got that it's worth Yeah, I
mean they're good, they're good stories and all they are.
I mean they are almost put thirty five years old now,
so they all came out in the early nineties and
ninety Some of the stuff is very the early nineties.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Yeah, little Haley was not reading when these came out.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Yeah, I would have been a little bit on your
parents being like, you don't let your kids, said, are
like seventy years old reading?
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Any I was a toddler.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Okay, well it would be cool if you could read them.
Then they'd be like, hey, you can read comics, old man.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
If I'm a prodigal, then what am I doing here?
Speaker 1 (41:23):
It's like you wouldn't be reading vertical imprint comics, which
were like all designed because there was too adult for
DC stuff. So anyway, anyways, yeah, and let them know
how they can get a hold of us.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Yep, you can follow us on our socials. We're on
Instagram and Twitter and Facebook. Next week we'll be doing
what are we reading our Superman book next week? Yeah,
we're just gonna do a one issue thing for Superman
because you know, people got stuff to do. So we're
(41:58):
reading Superman I'm limited it from or is it unlimited Superman?
No Superman unlimited from this year? Just the first issue
that's being written by Dan Slott, so you know it'll
be good because he's a good writer, and I do
believe you can find that on the DC app and
then you can email us with your feedback at Spark
Podcast at gmail dot com, and you can follow all
(42:19):
the shows over at Strandedpanda dot com.
Speaker 1 (42:22):
Yep. And I think if you want to get a
little bit more into the minutia of what the new
Superman is going to be, I think, what's it? All
star Superman?
Speaker 2 (42:34):
All Star Superman is good? And there's another one I
met somebody message our Instagram account and I forget what
I told them, But you can always google like what
would be a good thing to read, and the Google
machine will tell you yep.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
And I also want to just wish Hayley because it
happened last week, after our day, after our episode last week,
so the day that our last episode aired, we probably
could have done it done. Was our fourth anniversary of
our first actual full episode, which was June twenty fourth one. Yeah,
it's been four years.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
That's really crazy, right, And.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
Also because after after the Superman primer. What we're going
to be doing is a very special two hundredth episode episode.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Yes, so stravaganza. Yeah, we don't know what it's going
to be to you.
Speaker 1 (43:26):
Yeah. And our our Google doct that has all of
our stuff, it just says it's a secret you wouldn't understand.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
Do you know what that's from? No, that's a reference
from the office. And Nathan and I say to each
other when people are being real sketchy or something, We're like, oh,
it's a secret you wouldn't understand. Is it a secret
or I wouldn't understand.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
We I pulled the office reference a little while ago
where one of the guys because it was coming up
for it was for a Memorial Day to bring the
party Planning Committee and Jimmy is like, yeah, we're running
the party Planning Committee. I raised my hand like is
it the Party Planning Committee or the committee for planning parties?
(44:07):
And there was a chuckle from about four or five people,
and he goes, is there a different group. I'm like, no,
just watch the office.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Oh, I know, I feel like the office is like
starting to be in the rear root window and you know,
they're starting that spin off the paper paper newspaper one, so,
which I think will be good. I'm excited that who
is it that's the lead? Yeah, yeah, Donald Gleasing. Yeah,
I think it'll be fun. I think he's funny.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
And there is a handful of guys like Oscars back
in it. Yeah. So, I mean, obviously there's certain things
that in the timeframe you couldn't have it be like,
I don't think there's paper companies anymore because it's not
like most of the.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
They're all e commerce companies now.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
It could be, but it's also like office Depot, Office Max,
any of those specialized things around. They all disappeared because
they got merged in with other superstore just people just
buy on.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
We still have an Office Max here.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
Really you too.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
It's not very useful. There's not a lot in it,
but you can go and get things that are in there,
like weird envelopes and chairs if you need them. So weird.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
But speaking of things that are are useful though, is
our sparse podcast Buddy's List, which are some podcasts and
we think you should check out because we think they're
cool and we think you would think so too. The
names and links are on our show notes, but I'll
let you know who they are anyway. Right now, which
is across the by Frost and Mighty four Dan Any
and you have questions, commute the podcast Sigabits, mock Tails
(45:39):
from the Cantina or Force Radio presents The Babu Freaks,
Jack to Kirby, So Weird, So Fun, and the Star
Wars Yo Universe, which is hosted by our very own
James Yoda Hugh Hewings. And I'm pretty sure he's going
to have a new episode coming out soon because he
asked us for all of our input for what we've
been doing with Star Wars.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
So it's true, it's true, exactly.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Those are the best kind of truths. So this episode, well,
this was sort of like the four Happy Anniversary. I
didn't get you anything, but I don't think you can
get anything for a fourth anniversary. But it's like, I'm
good anyways. But we'll be back next week with Superman.
(46:22):
Until then, remember two things be excellent to each other
and never judge book by its movie.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
