Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Spacing Out with BB and Jason this week
covering Battlestar Galactica Season four, episode nine, The Hub.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Welcome back, I'm Babe and I'm Jason, and this is
Spacing Out towere today we will be discussing Battlestar Galactica.
If you are new to the show, welcome, and you
should know we're going to have a spoiler section at
the end of the podcast where we are free to
discuss future events. There's only eleven is episodes left to spoil,
so we probably won't say too much, but it will

(00:35):
still be there, so avoid that if you don't want
to be spoiled, but otherwise we won't be spoiling anything
past this episode, which is Battlestar Galactica season four, episode nine,
The Hub. It's aired on June six, two thousand and eight,
thritten by Jane Espinson, directed by Paul Edwards. A survivor
count in this episode was thirty nine thirty nine thousand,

(00:56):
six hundred and seventy three to the loss of one
from last time. In this episode, the hybrid keeps jumping
the bass Star while Laura Roslin has visions the Cylon
Dienna is unboxed humans and cylons join in the battle
to destroy the Resurrection Hub. Baltar is badly wounded and
Roslin has to decide whether or not to help him.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
She decided to help him, and then she walked that back.
She had to decide whether or not she wanted to
kill him.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
True, it was an active, active choice.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Vibe check. Did we like the episode overall? How does
it stand the test of time?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Did you like the episode?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I do like the episode.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
I do too. I think I like this better than
the last episode.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, I don't know. I liked it. They kind of
paired together well, and that some of the things from
the previous episode are explained in this one, like how
you see that ship that jumps back with the dead pilot.
And yeah, it's it's kind of more more of a
somber episode than you would expect from it being like
a kind of a big battle episode. It really just

(02:04):
focuses on Laura Roslin and her kind of processing her
life and her emotions and her feelings swords the people
around her in her life.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yeah, I like that, So we don't get to see
a lot of her inner workings. She's just the president, you.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Know, and she has that hard outer shell up all
the time, and she's realizing that she can let people in. Yeah,
and it kind of parallels the last episode where a
Dama is kind of sorting out how he feels about her.
So yeah, good stuff, Good.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Stuff trivia time. What facts could we uncover for the
hub trivia? I just have one piece of trivia here.
There's a deleted scene that featured the Rebel bass Star
being boarded by the other Cylons and the number eight
that's in the episode, the one that downloaded Athena's memories,

(02:56):
is shot and killed by a Cavil, who was then
shot by Hilo, and then Helo is very distressed over
the loss of the state because it is somewhat Athena
but not really.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
No, he's married to the entire line. Yes, yes, so
it's his wife who died.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Without this scene in the episode, there's now no explanation
for why we never see this number eight again in
the show.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Honestly, I feel like it doesn't matter because I didn't
like her. It was weird that she stole her memories.
I feel like, if if if I didn't think I don't,
I don't after this episode, I wouldn't think about her. Yeah,
she's weird, trying to make the moves on Heilo, giving
him a shoulder rub and shit, I don't know. And
then she's like, it's okay, I have the same memories.

(03:40):
It's like I'm the same girl. I'm like, no, that's fucked,
that's weird.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
But yeah, in my head, like if you wouldn't have
told me that she was murdered, I would have thought
that she just like I self, isolated herself from them
because she's like ashamed, like being so forward with a
married man and that's fine, we don't need any more
love triangles.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah. I think it was just there to do like
this weird kind of sci fi twist where it's like,
is this the same person or not? It's not, it's not.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
It's not because when was the last time that Athena
even fucking downloaded?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (04:23):
She shot herself to resurrect on the basar and save Haarrah.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Yeah, so it's been a while. Yeah, but she like,
I don't know, it's just not fully her, just because
you remember everything she remembers.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Deep Space Dive. Let's break down some of our thoughts
on the episode. You can share your thoughts with us
through email, Facebook, or Twitter. We may use your comments
on an upcoming episode.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I like how Altar It's like man'splaining to Laura how
to talk to the hybrid and he doesn't know how
to talk to the hybrid at all. He's like, you
just have to do it like this, Laura, I know
what I'm doing. Yeah, she still saves him after that.
I was surprised how little supervision Baltar had in this

(05:14):
fucking ship.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
That's true. They just kind of leave him. He sends
a long time just talking to that Cylon. Yeah, that's Centaur,
anyone he can preach to, and.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
He's evangelizing all the time. He's like my God, your God,
our God. And I feel like he was definitely like
turning a tide with that Cylon. But then they got
blown up. Yeah, and it's like all that for not
that could have been like a new revolution evolution for

(05:44):
the Cylon Centurions. You know, he could have had a
whole army.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Yeah. I was wondering, like where's this going. I don't
remember like him like converting all these cylons, Like where
are we going to cut to a scene of like
Baltar like leading all the Centurions.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Because that would have been iconic. Then Laura would really
fucking hate him. But yeah, I was really surprised he
was so unsupervised, and it was nice to see the
priestess again.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, Elosha, Elosha.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I really liked seeing her. At first. I didn't think
she was going to talk at all because the first
jump she just showed up and she didn't say shit,
and I'm like, god, damn it. They really brought her
back to say nothing. But she dropped some real truth
on Laura, like some harsh truths really about how she's
not connected to anybody and she won't admit or she

(06:39):
won't let herself love the people around her.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah, she's really I mean, she's all in Roslin's subconscience.
I would think. I guess you can interpret it differently,
but she's really driving the emotional aspect of the episode
with yeah, Roslin's self discovery.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
And I think it was there was a point to
it because when we flashed back to her deathbed, it
was like she was surrounded by her work colleagues. Yeah,
it sucks like she she hasn't like treated any of
them like family or anything like her and Bill a
Dama are a little close.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I mean that was the point that Alosha was making,
Like these are like the closest people you have the family,
and you're just their president.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Do you think it's Laura's fault though, or do you
think it's like this position of being a woman in
power and having like to shoulder that because women in
a lot of cases aren't allowed to be multifaceted individuals.
If she shows any sort of emotional anything, it can
be used against her, you know. So like it's kind

(07:49):
of shitty that she's in this position and she feels
guilty about it, Yeah, because it's not. I don't see
it as being her fault. I feel like it's this
societal pressure sure that she lives in, like this bubble
that she's kind of come into of being a leader
because you have a small inner circle, but how many

(08:10):
people in your inner circle are you allowed to really
let in? You know, Like that's a complicated issue. I
think because it was a woman writer, that nuance was
really perfect, like fucking just nailed it, because I don't
think a man could have written this, you know what
I mean. Yeah, So I think there's like the nuance

(08:32):
and this complexity of this leader who is facing her
mortality and really taking stock of her life and her
existence and what she's kind of accomplished and done. And
it's all dealing with her work and nothing to do
with her personal life. Like she won't let herself have

(08:54):
this great love affair. She won't let herself be proud
or close to like Starbuck or Leadama, which I feel
like they have a relationship like children to her almost
like you know what I mean, Like she sets them
up and like Starbuck really wants to follow her, and

(09:15):
like she's down for finding Earth, and.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yes, Starbuck and her have like a connection. I feel
like Leadama and Roslyn have been at odds more than
anything throughout the series.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Really, I feel like they I feel like it's playful
banter sometimes I don't.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
I guess she really hated him in Baltar's.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Trial, but I don't think it was him that she hated.
I think she hated his position.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
No, I mean he attacked her in that he went
after her taking Kamala again.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
And oh yeah, he did do that. But I think
there's part of her that likes him. Otherwise, why would
she fantasize about him, Why would he be at her deathbed.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
I don't know. That's why I'm saying it's odd.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Oh well, I think I don't know. I see it
as a more complicated relationship, I.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Guess, yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
I mean because that's her, that's her boyfriend's son, that's
like her step son basically, and his like the stepdaughter too,
because Starbuck is Adama's adopted daughter.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
You know what. They're all kind of too close.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Yeah. I really liked that Doc Coddle was there too
for a little bit of it, like at the very beginning,
and I'm like, he would be one of the very
close people to her because he's like seeing her all
the time.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yeah, she spends a lot of time with him. She
even quotes him later in the episode. It's like Doc
Coddle would say you've got a hole in your hide
or something like that.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Yeah. Yeah, And I think it's interesting to see the
juxtaposition between her deathbed and Guias's potential dying and his
kind of peace that he's made with it, and like
he's like, I'm not worried because I know God, and
she's like, okay, fucking asshole. And then I don't know,

(10:59):
I guess it must be death brain or something. But
Baltar like confesses his biggest sin to her.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Well, she juiced him up with the morphine.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Oh that's why. Okay, yeah, so he was real relaxed,
real confident. Just Lucy Goosey.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Makes his confession of what he did way back in
the miniseries, right.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
And honestly, he even says like he didn't know what
he was doing, but she didn't focus on that because
she's always had it out for him. I was surprised
to see her working so hard to save him, honestly,
and then when she took off the bandage, I was like,
that feels more on brand for her and him, like
I'm their relationship. And then she has that other, that

(11:43):
moment of clarity where she's on her deathbed and Bill
kisses her dead lips, and then she comes back and
regrets it, and I'm like, I kind of wish that
Baltar wasn't stabilized and that she killed him, But we
can't kill him in character like that. This isn't game
of throat and so you know.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
No, he has he has more purpose to fulfill.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
He has to go yell at that hybrids more, but
to stay in that vision that keeps having right, Well, yeah,
I know that, but like the gravity of her actions
if he would have died, I feel like would have
been so impactful and so juicy and like just like
really good for like the emotional turmoil that she's going through,

(12:29):
and just to add a little guilt to her and
like to have the juxtaposition of like, sure, he killed
a whole planet on accident, but you killed him on purpose,
and what does that say about you compared to him,
because she was just comparing herself to his sins, because
she always suspected him, and this is him confessing, and

(12:49):
so I don't know, like who's who's the bigger sinner.
It's like a dick measuring contest, and she's kind of winning.
She's kind of been the worst. I mean, I would
rather have Baltar and his presidential alignments than her, even
though he went he had a really bad term with
pylon occupation. But she has done things as a president

(13:13):
that I just disagree with. Shit that like when the
show came out was wild and now we're living through
it in real life when she overturned abortions and she's like,
we're making abortion illegal. During that like in this show,
when it came out that was controversial and wrong, and
now we're living through that and it's still an unpopular

(13:34):
opinion for most people. I think most people, not being
the Supreme Court though, So it just it's interesting, like
who's who's the better person here? Really? And how comes
she thinks she's better because she's not.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yeah, and that's part of what she has to realize,
I think. And also just like the value of life,
no matter no matter whose it is. So yeah, it
gets deep.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Yeah, I really liked it. I really like this episode
because it challenges her morality in a very deep and
I feel like we haven't seen that for her in
a while. And then I really enjoyed how the fucking
Diana woke up. Cavil thought that waking Diana up was
going to win the war, and she's like, what are

(14:17):
you doing? Aren't you going to ask me about.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
The Final five?

Speaker 3 (14:21):
And he's like, I don't give a fuck about the
final five because yeah, because he's fighting a war. And
as they're like in this gurroom, I don't know what
they're called a resurrection room. Uh, there's announcements that are like, hey,
there's like a ship coming up. They just launched fighters weird.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Yeah, well, his timing was just bad, I guess because
he didn't know that, like the other Cylons are coming.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
Right, They didn't know that they were after them at all.
It was like a surprise attack, sneak attack, which was
perfect for the good Guys, I guess is what we're
calling them, because they were able to swoop in and
they had their plan with their cables and towing in
the vipers. They had to trust the Cylons and that
was a big thing. And right now it's like, do

(15:08):
we trust the Cylons, but like we're finding out that
humans are just as like way more sneaky than the Silons.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yeah, because it was like a couple episodes ago we
learned that, like the Cylons were also planning to kind
of backstab on this deal, but then they decided to
reverse course and be true to their word. Yeah, and
then Natalie got shot and they jumped away.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Right, And I thought it was surprising that the Hybrid
knew and she's like freaking the fuck out. And then
the Hybrid k new when Diana woke up too. Yep,
she's like omnipotent, weird or she's really in the know
with the Cylon stuff. But So Diana's like talking to
Cawl and he's explaining that there's a civil war and
she's like, well, okay, and then they hear the news

(15:54):
about their surprise attack and she's like, well fuck, I'm
on their side, and she kills Cavell, and she the
Sharon Cylon that's fucking Cavil freaks out a little bit
and just quietly like sneaks off.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yeah, Boomer, Yeah, Yeah, I mean I think Deanna just
hated Cavil regardless.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Yeah, he boxed her, and I don't.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Think like the only update she has on what's been
going on came from him. So I don't think she
really trust anyone.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Right, right. And she said that once because Heilo has
specific instructions from Laura Roslin. Another again another like very
morally ambiguous or even wrong thing to do is to
double cross your allies. And she's like, bring the Diana
Cylon to meet. We're not going to go to the
rendezvous point. We're going to go directly to meet. And

(16:44):
I feel like Diana's just so smart because she's like,
I ain't telling you shit, bitcha Deanna. Sorry.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Yeah, she knows the card she holds, which is the
Final Five and potentially they're out the Earth. So yeah,
don't don't give that away freely.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Especially to a human who's like already double crossing. Like
she she's like, oh, we're not going with the plan.
Oh so all of a sudden, I'm going to go
talk to the humans. And she even called it out
and she's like, you don't know that these humans are
double crossers. They have two faces, and she's like, you
never understood this number eight.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
I also, I like that Deanna had like a genuine
reaction to seeing Baltar in that condition, because it took
a while for me to remember it. But like the
last person she was with was Baltar before she died
after seeing the face of the Final Five, and then
she got boxed right after that, so like they were
they're kind of close.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
And then yeah, they had that three way with the
number six. Yeah, so yeah, I like that too. It
was really uh. I like that it was genuine for
her too. She didn't know that Laura.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Was just about to murder his ass.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Imagine if she walked in and Laura was taking those bandages.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Off, or or she was just praying by his unbandaged body.
That was fucking psychotic. That was psychotic to me. I'm
gonna let you bleed out while I pray over here, psychopath.
But so mission accomplished. Oh and I really liked the
cgi of the whole battle scene. It was really beautifully made,

(18:15):
like with all the little like smoke trails and the
explosions and shit like that. Yeah, it's always nice when
we get like a view from outside. It was also
another thing that I really enjoyed seeing was Battle Star
cleaned out and empty when they were just walking in
the corridors.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, that was really interesting because usually when I think
of the Battle Star I think of like just random
ship piles everywhere and people walk in going to work,
you know, work, just like I'm sure their daily life shit.
But this one was like clean and dark and scary,
and it almost felt like a horror movie.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yeah. I mean it's very clearly from the beginning like
it's some sort of dream seek wins. Yeah, their vision
or or whatever.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Yeah, but they accomplish their mission and they go back
to where they started. They're jumping back and cut to
Adama reading his book being all sad loyal and do
they is it like an intercough thing they like call
in or they.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Don't really explain it. We see the bass Star jump
back and both or a dama like kind of gets
his seatbelt on and stuff. And then next time we
see like he's getting out of this out of the
ship on board the base Star. So I assume he
was able to contact them, right, I hope.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
So because last time I know their communications were weird
with that based Star.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
But yeah, then he like, they say they love each
other and they hug, and then they have sex in
that little ship. They do not they do too. They
have cancer sex and she takes off her wig and
he rubs her bald head and kisses it.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
And I have a.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Whole fan friction happeny over here. He's got that hairy chest.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
It is a really sweet reunion. Yeah, and we're finally
seeing these two just openly embracing their love for each other.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
Well no one was around too, so.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Well, yeah, they haven't said it out loud before.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yeah, and then that was the episode.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Yeah. I also I really liked the Roslin is a
Cylon fake out.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Oh yeah, that was so funny. She's like, you didn't
know you're the Silo because the credits in the beginning
are always like there are twelve Sylons and one is
still to be revealed. And I shit my pants when
she said Laura was the Silon.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
And I feel like they did it right because like
they didn't like drop that and then you know act
break cut the commercial and like try to fool the
audience for a long time or anything.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
No, no, but it was just like psych no. But
it was like even the music got like sinister. Yeah,
and you like you were like what and then and
then Diana's like, I'm just fucking with you. I ain't
telling you shit, bitch. That was a good psych out. Yes,
well yeah that was so good. And now we know

(21:18):
Laura is not a Cylon probably, so I'm excited to
see them reveal the Cylons and I want to see
the final five, like the final one, the one that
has not yet been revealed, yep. Especially where are they
like where could they be? Like were they on the
Resurrection ship? Where are they? Are? They? Are they on Galactica?

(21:41):
And like now, I also think it's really interesting that
there's a level playing field and that the Cylons can die.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Yeah. Yeah, that's a big change in this episode. We
shouldn't overlook. Yeah, because even when Deanna kills Cavil, he
can probably resurrect still at that point because they haven't
stored it yet. But she says, like, this is going
to be a lot more meaningful. You can actually die.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Baltar references of a flood story in the Book of Pythia,
which I just thought that was interesting because so many,
like hundreds of cultures on Earth have some sort of
flood narrative.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Many religions have a great flood yep, and floods they
happen yep.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
So I just liked that that kind of carries over
into their cultures as well.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Yeah, Astral queen, who was the standout character in the episode?

Speaker 3 (22:34):
Who's your Astral Queen?

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Well, I'm tempted to pick Deanna just for that fake out, okay,
but I'm going to pick Laura Roslyn. It's definitely you know,
her arc in this episode. Okay, So that's that's what
I'm going with. You're going with Laura, yep. Mine was
between Diana and Elosha, because without Elosha, Laura would not

(22:55):
have gone down this like mental emotional path of understanding
how her leadership and her position have stood in the
way of her creating real human connections because Elosha how
to hold.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Her fucking hand.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
True, And I was thinking about that, but like, I
don't know. I don't know how to interpret it because like,
is that actually Elosha in some form or is it?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Well, it could be like the number six in Baltar's head.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Yeah, well, I and we don't know.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Right, So I give it, like, I give it a chance.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Yeah, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Yeah, so I give it to Elosha. Plus, it's been
a while since I've been able to give her one.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Very true, we did, we did miss her.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
You ready for the next episode?

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Oh yeah, So Laura Roslin and Elosha be on the
lookout for those Astral Queen Awards. And that brings us
to the end the main part of the episode. We
will go into the spoiler section and we will spoil
as our hearts are content. But we will be back
next week to cover the mid season finale titled Revelations

(24:05):
Stereo Stylus in this group.

We have anything to spoil?

Speaker 3 (24:37):
I mean I almost spoiled the last Cylon is a
girl or a she?

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Yeah I cut that out. So yeah, yeah, we know.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
We know Ellen's coming.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Ellen's coming. Next episodes, mid season finale. The other four
are going to get outed.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Oh I'm so excited.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
So yeah. They jump back to the fleet and the
Anna really takes control of the situation and it's holding hostages.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
And she's a total badass.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Yeah, she's ready to play ball.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Ask Lucy Lawless, would I forget does Colonel Ty lose
his job?

Speaker 2 (25:16):
He really doesn't like I vaguely remember a scene of
like people trying to call out a Doma for like
allowing him to keep this job and everyone to kind
of keep these positions.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
They're really important positions too. It's like very strategically placed
where they are, like the head of your mechanics, the
second in command, the ear of the president, like what
and I for fucking honders. He's like a fancy football
player or something. He's a pilot, but before that he

(25:50):
was just a pyramid ball player.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Yeah, well, he's going to sustain an injury at some point.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
And become a hybrid, right, Yeah, what was I just thinking, Oh, well,
there's a lie with the Silons continues, and so like
they kind of stick with these the Rebel Silons throughout
the rest of the series.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
So it's like it's not that absurd that, like, I mean,
it kind of is, but I think we as the
audience have a lot of trusts in these guys, but
other people in the fleet are like really.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
Human about it. Yeah, yeah, humans jerk. Yeah, I'm excited.
I can't believe it's only ten more episodes or eleven
more episodes. We're doing the web series too.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Yeah, so it'll go this mid season finale and we'll
be off for a few weeks or something, but we'll
come back first with the web series, which you can
find on YouTube, is called The Face of the Enemy.
We can find it on well, no, I think it's
just on YouTube, so check it out there. But then
I'm not sure how we're going to cover the finale.
That's kind of why I'm not sure how many episodes

(26:53):
are left because it is like long. Well it's like
it was a three part finale they aired it as
part one one week, the second week parts two and
three together, but then the DVD and Blu ray releases
contained a three hour version of all three cut together
with extra scenes, which is usually like we go for

(27:15):
the extended cuts on this podcast. But I don't know's
that'll be like a really long episode to watch and
then talk about, especially as I don't want to do a.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Three hour thing. I'd refuse to watch the fucking Navatar
movie because of that and many other things that were
like politically wrong with it.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
But so, yeah, I feel like we should break it
up at least into those chunks. But also the way
it's now streaming on Peacock, which is probably where a
lot of people are watching now, is it's separated into
parts one, Part two, and part three. Oh so I
don't really know how we should approach it. Maybe we
should do it how it aired. Yeah, it seems like
a middle ground.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Yeah, that aired the right way. I think watch part
one and then part two and three together. That makes
sense to me. They couldn't come up with like a
way to make it two parts instead of three fucking parts.
Jesus Christ.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Well, they wanted a three part finale, and the network
was like, no, we'll give you like a two hour finale.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
So they pre they pre gamed it or they and
then they are like, okay, now here's the two hours. Well,
I really enjoyed this episode. I think the the emotional
elements of it really shone through, and I think that's
because of the writing.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Yeah, they're like, I'm really enjoying the show, like at
this point in the run, like, yeah, I really like
season four. And there's a significant chunk of the fan
base that really likes like the first couple of seasons
when the show was kind of really like raw and
grounded and you know, not not a lot of like
supernatural stuff happening, right, And I get that, But I

(28:50):
just really like season four and a lot of season
three as well.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
And you like the show, Yeah, you can just say
that I like all the seasons.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
I do.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
I like it. I like it up to the end,
and even the finale is a little controversial. A lot
of people don't like the finale too, but I'll defend
it to a point.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Oh okay, I'm excited now.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Okay, But yeah, I mean there's a lot of people
that like the early seasons of the show and really
start to dislike it.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Because it's a departure. It's a lot of mysticism and
conspiracy and theory, and I get that. I get that,
but I feel like I can see past that because
I see the emotionality and that's like for me, what
like grounds it again in this human kind of way,
like she can have visions all she wants, Like I

(29:41):
don't get fuck, like as long as they make sense,
and they're like giving me some sort of like character
developed the opera house shit I could live without. That's
just running around, you know. But it's also like the
show has a lot of momentum right now, Like this
is a show that from the beginning they did like
a purpose, like we're going to find Earth, right, even

(30:03):
if Bill Odamo thought it was all bullshit, like he
set that in motion, and now it's like very clear
that like we're getting closer and closer and we're almost
there right, which, by the way, next episode is Earth.
Oh I didn't know that spoilers.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
That's what we're doing here.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yeah, that's cool. I'm excited now because I know Earth
is a desolate like Hell escape, so they're going to
find Earth two point zero.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Yeah. But also I mean, I'll talk about it and
when we get to Trivia for that part. But it
was potentially gonna end up being the finale with the
writer's strike. Oh that they didn't know if they were
going to be able to finish the back half of
the season.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Oh, so they were like, this is it.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Yeah, they found Earth. It sucks the end.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Good luck the writers will write us out of it,
or we're going to stay here. Wow, that's awesome. Well,
I just, you know, like my personal feelings about how
Laura should have lived with a death of balt A
kind of extend to like humans should have just like
get that shitty Earth. I don't know if that's pessimism

(31:09):
or nihilism or what, but there's a part of me
that's really dark and feels like people deserve bad things,
not because they're bad people, but because life is just meaningless.
So maybe that is a little nihilistic, But yeah, I
would have been okay with that finale and then we'd
be done with the show. If the writer strike continues

(31:31):
in real life, we're done. We're striking to not just kidding.
Could you imagine though? That'd be so saying I feel
like they deserve their streaming rights.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Yeah. When it comes to strikes, I think I'm always
on the side of the labor. Yeah, support your writers
and tip your waiters. Waiters, you know about the final five,
but know that you're one of them.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
