Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Spacing Out with BB and Jason this week
covering Battlestar Galacticas season four episode thirteen, The Oath.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Welcome back, I'm Baby and I'm Jason, and this is
spacing Out where today we will be discussing Battlestar Galactica.
If you are new to the show, welcome, and you
should know we're going to have a spoiler section at
the end of the podcast where we are free to
discuss any future events in the series, but otherwise we
won't be spoiling anything past this episode, which is Battlestar

(00:35):
Galactica season four, episode thirteen, The Oath. This aired on
January thirtieth, two thousand and nine. Written by Mark v Heiden,
directed by John Dahl. The survivor account at the beginning
of the episode is thirty nine, six hundred and forty
three people just down one from last time who died?
I don't remember?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Oh okay.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
In this episode, Felix Gata springs Zeric from jail and
organizes a mutiny aboard the Galactica, with both civilians and officers,
A Dama and Tyre taking hostage but break free of
their captors. Rodland uses Baltar's wireless to address the fleet,
and the two escape on a Raptor heading to the
Cylon Bastar, but Gata orders the raptor destroyed.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Cut to be continued.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
It is to be continued, and there's a lot more
action in there.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Five check Did we like the episode overall? How does
it stand the test of time?

Speaker 3 (01:33):
This episode was awesome, Right, there was so much violence
and gore and like movement, and there was this one
shot of fucking Colonel Tie with a rifle in one
hand and a handgun in the other and he just
looked fucking cool. I was like, what is going on.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
This old man making ass?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah, it was really fun.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Like we've seen a DAMA get into like some action before,
and we've seen them like I don't like, suit up
and go down to the planet and like its military garbs, or.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
We've seen them bunch a couple of guys.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
And this is like, we're going back to all of
our old military training, just like me and my buddy
taking on everyone.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
So yeah, it's full of like adrenaline and kind of
an espionage thing with people like being undercover and choosing
sides and yeah, lots of action, violence, and kind of like,
I don't know, people like I guess making the decision
to do stuff that they aren't going to be able
to take back, like right, very very like we're nearing

(02:43):
the end of the series and people are really it's polarizing.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
I think they were. They were making decisions that are
going to change the trajectory of their characters in this universe.
And I think Godama even says like they're gonna be
a rockoning. Yeah, so it's like, WHOA, But I really

(03:06):
like this episode. I think this is one of my
favorite episodes so far.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, and even for like a part one cliffhanger, like
it wasn't just like all build up with no payoff,
like it was engaging the whole time.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, trivia time. What facts could we uncover for the Oath?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's a little bit of trivia. This episode was originally
set to be directed by Kevin Smith, who was an
ardent fan of the series, but there were some scheduling
conflicts that prevented him from directing.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
I'm kind of glad. I don't think it would have
been as fast paced unfortunately.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Yeah, I don't know what Kevin smith Battlestow episode would
have been.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Does he ever get star again? I guess that's a spoiler.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
No, maybe in the new seeon the one that's like
in the works.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Maybe it's also like, well, so this episode directed by
John Dahl. I think that's a new name for Battlestar
as well. But at this point in the series there's
not a lot of new directors coming in, like they
kind of need people who know what's going on.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Wait, so it's like Kevin Smith working on Jersey Girl
or something like that. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Do we know? I just trying to look into it.
Seems like there was some like miscommunication going on and
they ended up like thinking he couldn't do it, and
they scheduled someone else and then like, I don't know,
there was some like apology letter.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Wow, someone dropped the ball. Huh.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, I don't know. This episode was written and shot
before the webisodes were even conceived, which is the reason
that there is no on screen display of Gata and
Hoshi's relationship or the potential conflicts that may have entailed,
which is an element that the show runner, Ronaldy Moore,
wished he could have included in the episode.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Oh yeah, because his boyfriend's like probably on the side
of Galactica.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, yeah, and they're communicating back and forth on the CIC. Yeah,
there could have been another element.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Just even like eyes, like like long full looks.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yeah, but that's all I have for Trivia.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Deep Space Dive. Let's break down some of our thoughts
on the episode. You can share your thoughts with us
through email, Facebook, or Twitter. We may use your comments
on an upcoming episode.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
So what do you want to talk about because this
episode super juicy and has so many different things that
are going on. Well, okay, I want to talk about
how we start at six am in the morning and
Admiral Adama is in his quarters having a gross cup
of coffee that's freshly brewed, and his bff, Colonel Tye,

(05:49):
who happens to be a cylon, comes in and is like,
good morning, bestie, and then awkwardly, it feels like it's
awkward for Tie. Laura comes in in her head wrap,
real cash like and be like ooh baby, good morning,

(06:11):
and Colonel ties like a squirm and and it was
so good. I really like and Adama and her like
kiss good morning, and they have like a regular relationship.
And I think it's really weird for Colonel Tie to
witness this, But I love how Adama just plays it
off like, oh, yeah, this is just casual, everyday thing.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, this is a new normal. Yeah where you've been
get with Roslin knows that it's making him uncomfortable and
shesus rolling with it.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah, she's making it even more awkward. And then like
she sits down and opens a book, but she's totally
listening to their conversation. Yeah, and they're talking about like
how you know there's still people who are not getting
with the program to change the cylon technology, and they're
like refusing to let cylons on their ships and they

(07:02):
have Zeric and custody still and a bunch of shit
is happening. And I love when they cut to Laura
looking over at them big side eye, and then when
then she all of a sudden like looks back at
her book like, Oh, I wasn't paying attention, just playing
I'm not involved, I'm not getting involved.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah. She keeps saying that she's not getting pulled back in,
so she getting.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Pulled back in. It was so funny. I really love
that she's like, I'm not getting involved, but you really
need to get so and so on board or else
it's not going to work and you need to talk
to this guy and you really need to do this
and that. But I'm not involved. And there was a
look that current Adama gave her before he left that

(07:50):
was like, bitch, you get involved. And she's like, that's
all I'm going to say. And then their whole little
tid for tad like they're a little back and forth
about like having supper ready. That was so cute. I
really enjoyed that conversation. I feel like their relationship is
really blossoming.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yeah, Like it's adorable and it's nice to see it
after you know, all these years of build up.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
And quiet like looks and just like admiration and all.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
That, and they started like with so much friction between them. Yeah,
soh yeah, it's nice to see that. But then later
when when her boo gets in trouble, she's fully back in.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Oh yeah, she had her wig on, she had her
like in the morning, she had her scarf on, her pajamas,
her robe. She was like, you know, real chill, and
then like shit was going down. I'm sure she heard
like gunshots and shit too, so she like got it together.
She put on some blush. She threw on that wig

(08:47):
and brushed her down. She's like, whatever happens, I'm gonna
look good. And so that's like Laura. She's like in
her in a dama's quarters, basically waiting to see what's
gonna happen and ready to do whatever happens next. It
looks like, thankfully, in the background there's other people moving,

(09:10):
so Gata he feels so like, I feel like, what's
going on, you know, like midlife crisis or something like
the depression or the like denial or the like unprocessing
of his like amputation is causing him to just like
act a fool and instead of like taking care of himself,
he's like, no, fuck the cylons and fuck everyone who

(09:33):
likes the cylon and he's like, I'm going to start
a revolution. And he we saw him doing that when
he's stirring the pot, when he's like, close that door,
we're gonna have a conversation. And then he goes and
talks to Xeric, who I don't know if he's at sale. Honestly,
I feel like Zerk is just using him as a
pawn and he doesn't realize how powerful of a pawn

(09:57):
he's got because this guy controls the communications of the
warship that protects the whole fleet. Like, I didn't realize
how much Gata was like the head of communications until
every time anybody tried to call Galactica, it was him
that was like, good afternoon, thank you for calling Galactica.

(10:20):
How can I help you? I'm sorry, he's busy right now,
I can take a message.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
He is the administrative assistant, he's.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
The receptionist or the like, yeah, he's he's basically like
what is it called when you like do something with
calls and screaming. He's screaming the calls and I had
no idea, Like everybody who calls Galactica or is trying
to communicate with Galactica, here's Gada's voice. Yeah, so he's

(10:52):
effectively the voice of Galactica to other ships and to
other crew members who call in and were like, hey,
there's a fire here. Gata knows.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Yeah, And he's in such a unique position because of this.
They're like, he's really able to control the CIC for
quite some time and throw them off the trail and
uh huh, anytime something comes up, he has, you know,
another solution in mind of like, well maybe this is
the greatest ghost whatever that is.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Yeah, he's a great improviser because he knows the ship
so well and he knows the mechanics, and then the
reactions that the that Adama is going to have to it, like,
oh it's probably this, Oh you're right, well let's just
do let's just evacuate everyone then, and as I as
you evacuate everyone, then his goonies or no, what are

(11:42):
they called goons? Goons? They're like cleaning out the artillery compartment,
and you know, Starbuck calls the CIC and is like,
civilians are arming themselves, and Gata's like, I'm sorry, he's
busy right now, Can I take a message? And he

(12:06):
makes it so that Xeric can escape without any problems.
And when Zak gets to Colonial one, which is the
name of the ship that all the politics happens on,
I guess everyone's confused because there was no message from
Adama saying hey, I'm sending him back. We're gonna like
let him go because he didn't let him go. He escaped, yeah,

(12:29):
and Lee calls Galactica and he's like, hey, what the
fuck is my dad doing? And Gada is like, I'm sorry,
he can't talk right now, you can leave a message,
you know how he is. So it's like another instance
where Gata is blocking effectively blocking communication that is necessary

(12:50):
for the ship to be in the know that something
is off.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Yeah, And it's funny later when Gata is in control
of the CIC and he's giving orders like none of
his guys know how to do shit.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
No, yeah, he's like, why don't you just block the signal?
And he's like, what do you mean, I don't know
how to do that, And it takes him forever to
get from the table where everybody does their little playbooks
and all that, you know, where Captain Odama does his orders. Yeah,
to go up the stairs through that narrow passage behind

(13:25):
all those chairs to get to his seat. And then
he was able to finally kill the transmission, but it
was too late, the message was out. But yeah, he's
working with really Like there, I feel like there are
two types of people working for data, like die hard
Cylon haten motherfuckers, and then people who aren't sure but

(13:46):
they're like it feels right and I'm following orders. It
sounds right that this is treason, so I'm going I'm
going with the flow. And I think we saw that
with the two guys that the two Marines that were
taking Colonel Tie and General adopt or is it General
Admiral Admiral Adama to the brig. The one in the

(14:09):
front was such a dick and then the one in
the back was like, you know, we're just doing what
we can.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Was his loyalty was divided because yeah, he served a
DAMA for so long.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Yeah, and he worked. Yeah, so, and I think that's
kind of interesting. I think like that, I feel like
he doesn't have full control of everyone the way he
wants to have control of everyone because of that, and
there's hesitation in a lot of them. You saw the
hesitation with Leeadama coming on the board and Racetrack watching

(14:43):
everybody like almost kill Leadama and she's like, wait what,
I didn't sign up for this? Yeah, because they like
Leadama was almost shot in the face.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Yeah, we see you know a number of characters that
we we know and maybe come the like like taking
sides against a you know, you got Racetrack, you got
Celis who distracts Anders so he can be taken.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, she was a I was like confused why she
was coming up to him and talking shit to him.
I was like, Oh, is she trying to like flirt
with him right now?

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yeah? I thought she was just like horny right there,
like I know your wife's back, but let's give us
another shot.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Like why didn't you look at my tits last time
we were out drinking. Well, it's because you're a defective
silon and I fucking hate you. And then they beat
the shit out of Wonders. I could not believe it.
I was so upset. He had very little lines, and
but his emotion and his like acting in this was
so good, Like you could tell like he is done.

(15:45):
He is like depressed.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Yeah, so they're rounding up all the cylons.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
Oh yeah. They go into Heilo's house and they're like
beg ben ben bang, and the baby girl's like what
the fuck and they grab her. And then the guy
that was from Pegas's was reminding him how he killed
that rapist. Yeah, and then he threatened to rape Sharon.
I was like, that's horrifying. That was that's a motivator

(16:11):
to fight back. But he's on the brig now. They
I'm glad that they put them together so at least
they're like in a family unit.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Still was in there.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Yeah. Yeah, they threw him in there unconscious.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Remember that makes sense. I guess I wouldn't just leave him.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah, but I remember the last thing he said was
like I'm coming back for you, like he was going
to come back and rape her later a scary Yeah.
So they got they got They already had number six
in there because she basically lives there and is pregnant
with Ty's baby or something.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Yeah, they have Athena and they got anders.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
They were looking for Tie. They thought they had Tie.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Yeah, they had Tie for a moment. Jeef Tyrrell, he's
like he was hanging out with He's hunkered down with
Guayas and kind of helping. This is out there doing
good deeds. Basically.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Yeah, he's doing he's doing the lord's work. I didn't
realize that he was so invested in it until I
saw him at Guayas's like camp and like giving orders
and telling people like we got to do this. Like
he figured out that communications weren't working and so he's
like walkies and he's just so smart. Like I really

(17:18):
like him in this episode, I think because he's so
chill and not in that awful uniform.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
He was pretty chill and just like managing the situation. Yeah,
it was kind of weird, just the cut to.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
That, right, because he's normally just like a guy who
follows orders or is really stressed about one of his girlfriends.
He's like chill, he's in command, he's in control, and
he's like got this. But yeah, I really liked his

(17:48):
role in this. I feel like he was like taking
up arms. He's like, we're we're gonna we already have
an escape plan for Guias because we know they're gonna
come after him because he's a Cylon lover, like to
nobody knows what extent, but it's he's an extreme Cylon lover.
Like he doesn't even have a Cylon on his side,

(18:08):
but he imagines them in his mind.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Like the toy wasn't in this episode. I think she's on.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
The basis the Cilons. Yeah, but they did reference her
when guyas Baltar and Laura Roslin were having their conversations
about how they both didn't pick good residential like aids. Yeah,
and she tells him, like, you know, Felix, maybe you

(18:36):
can talk to him, and he does try. He calls
Gata and he's like, this isn't you man, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:43):
And then he brings up something about a pen.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah, so I believe he's referencing when Gada stabbed him
with that pin. It was after Baltard whispered in his ear,
which we only know from the webisodes, that he was
referring to how Gata was giving on on New Kapra.
He was giving a list of names to that number eight.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Oh yeah he was. He was executing the reverse Schindler's List. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Yeah. So he's basically saying like, hey, like, your hands
have been dirty and all this too.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
You're right, nobody's innocent in this war. We all have
had our difficulties. And I'm really glad that Laura talked
about that in her broadcast. So the reason that they
go to Guayas is because they know that there's safety there,
but I think they also need that broadcast. Laura needs
to get a message out to the fleet. And they

(19:38):
happened to see what's his name? We just were talking
about him, chief Chief, Yeah, Chief, which, like I feel
like running into him on accident was a godsend.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Because the other woman wasn't gonna let her in.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Yeah, she was such a bitch too.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Well, because like the previous interactions that the group has
had with Roslin is her trying to like shut down
there to organize like gathering.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Roslin likes to fuck around with people's human rights that's
been established. She's like not, she's a complicated character. Like
she took away the right to abortion, let's not forget. Yeah,
they predicted that rob Bade would be overturned, so that's scary.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
And yeah, I feel like she has There's just like
a lot of good dialogue back and forth between characters
and this and they're usually pretty short scenes, but like
Roslin and Baltar, it's kind of going back and forth
about like who.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Is the worst president? You're not even on the throne anymore.
It was good to see them together too, because they've
had a lot of like conflict before, like you know,
they don't like each other in the ways that they do,
and so work them working together, them escaping together crazy.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
They've also saved each other's lives before. Yeah, yeah heard
unlikely ally the first person she thought of when they're
like calms her down.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah, and so Chief is like, well, we have a
plan where if you can be at escape hatch number
four at noon, we got an escape plan.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Yeah, Chief already had it all set up for him.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Yeah, he's like, we're already done, we're leaving.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Yeah. So we get like a big kind of reunion
scene where Starbuck and Lee and the President and the
DAMA and everyone kind of convened during that. What was
that room was like an old.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Something that got destroyed during sometimes something, and Chief was
like working on regace just in case something. He's like,
I rebuilt it just in case something like this happened. Honestly,
I don't know what.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
You guys have been doing, but.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
I've been prepping. He's a prepper.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
He's got like buckets of food and stuff.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Well, they had crates of shit out with Baltar. He
was probably helped them hoard.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Yeah. So President and the Admiraler making out while everyone's
standing around watching them.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yeah, it was weird and it was kind of a
long kiss too. But it might be their last kiss, right,
that's kind of the understanding. There's it's like they haven't
seen each other. There's been a lot going on, and
there's safeties at risk, and I think Adama at this
point already knows that he's staying behind, so he's gonna

(22:28):
make it count.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Yeah, I mean you get the sense of like this
is our last stand.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
Yeah. Speaking of kisses, though, how about that Starbuck and
leea DAMA kiss that was random and just for the
thrill of it.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
It seemed like, Yeah, I mean, Starbuck was just hyped
up on adrenaline.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
She was in the moment.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
It was like I finally have something fun to do
in the ship.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
He was so chaotic because I think she's been dealing
with like burying herself or burning herself up.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yeah, She's like, I need a war to distract me.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
I need to shoot people. I need a murder. She
killed up. She straight up killed that man that was
about to shoot a Leadama. Yeah, and then she shot
another guy almost fatally, like in the chest, and she's like,
I will fucking shoot all of you motherfuckers try me.
And she even told them before when she got Lee
on her side and was like run, She's like, please

(23:22):
follow me, like, please make my day.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
She wants a fight. She doesn't want a DAMA taking
hostages like no.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Yeah, She's like these are the enemies. That was scary
and I wish they would have done a little bit
more with that, but it wasn't about her, So I
was like, that's fine. I don't know what they did
with her though, because she didn't look like she stayed
behind with them in the escape patch. It looked like
it was just because she was in the room with them,

(23:49):
with Leadama and Roslin and the other ones. But we
don't know. Like the only people we saw holding down
the fort was Colonel Tye and General or Admiral Adama.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
Yeah, I honestly don't remember where where they were. Well,
Starbuck ended up at the end. I don't think they're
in that room with them. I don't think they left
on the Raptor either.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Yeah, so maybe they left before it got hot in
there in that area. We don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Yeah, so to.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
Be continued, that was oh my god. Yeah, so the
Raptor is able to undock and leave with Laura and Gaius,
heading probably to Colonial One so that she can like
put out the fire, that metaphorical fire that Felix started.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
I think they said they're heading to the bay ship.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Oh I don't know what that is. Oh okay, well
I don't know where they're going. Let me just be honest.
They're leaving and as they're leaving, we cut to the
CIC with Gata in charge, and he's like, who's available,
who's like in the air right now? And they're like,
it's hot Dog and this other guy. And he's like, well,
get a hold of the other guy because he probably

(24:57):
thinks hot Dog will listen, right hopefully Maybe, I mean
I want hot Dog to be on our side, Yeah,
I hope. So he gets along with Starbuck for the
most part, like they were giving razzing each other the
earlier in the episode, talking about how she named him
hot Dog and it was a good name for him
because he got a girl pregnant. But then she threw

(25:18):
her cereal at him, and I was confused.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
She can give it out, but she can't take it.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
Yeah, because she fucked half the fleet too. She can't.
But she's got nothing to show for it. And that's
weird because I think she does want a kid. Remember
when she had that kid that didn't belong to her. Yeah,
But anyway, he doesn't choose hot Dog to be the
guy to seek, destroy and kill or whatever. I don't
remember the exact line, because that guy was like, what

(25:45):
are your orders? Like, once I get hold of this
other guy and his orders are to kill or destroy
that raptor yep, And I feel like that is the
true turning point for him because he had a choice
to let him go, but he chose to like try
to destroy them. And now it's to be continued, and
I'm so excited.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
I think we covered the whole episode. I mean, I'm
sure there's we can keep picking little moments in there
we love.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
But oh yeah, it was a good episode. There was
like the whole episode was Chef's kiss except for the
kiss between Lee and Starbuck. I could have lived without that.
I could have had her like doing some other like
extreme physical like fists in the air, like shaking up
and being like, yeah, I was so excited. That would

(26:33):
have been funnier.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
Like I'm let me picks him up and tosses him.
So yeah, that was a lot of fun. But let's
move on.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Astral Queen, who was the standout character in the episode.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
How do you pick an astral queen in this episode?

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Right? Oh my god, how do you pick an astral
queen in this episode?

Speaker 2 (26:57):
I guess. Let me talk through and narrow it down.
So you've got Colonel Ty looking badass.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
He looks so cool with those guns. He had the
coolest stance.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
You've got Roslin getting back in the game, putting her way,
giving her speech. I'm kind of leaning towards Chief Tyrol
because he was like ready prepared.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
He was ready and cool about it, just calm as
a cucumber.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Everyone else is like scrambling to figure sit out, and
they get the Chief Tyroll and he's got everything lined up.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
He's like, yeah, I have some juice boxes in the back.
Are you hungry? Like, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Guys don't leave on an empty stomach? Yeah, I mean,
who else is an option?

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Starbuck? She she like saved Leodama from being straight up murdered,
and she like was one of the one of the
first to like notice something was off. That girl from
Guayas's temple went straight to the temple and was like,
there's something for she happening. We better like the redhead
with the short hair when she was leaving the hangar
deck or whatever. Oh yeah, she's so like. Starbuck was like,

(28:06):
citizens are arming themselves or civilians civilians? I don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Yeah, I think I'm just gonna go with Chief Tyrrel.
You're gonna have together.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
Tiro I'm gonna go with Laura Roslin because she was
like going to stay out of it, but she got
sucked back in.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
All right, I mean honorable mentions for everyone else basically.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Yeah, even Gata, Right, even Gata was like doing the most.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Gaida for running the whole CiCe on his own.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Right, like I'm doing all of the jobs. He's like,
get out of my way. God damn it.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Who put these consoles so far apart? All right, well, then,
Chief Tyrol and Laura Roslin, President Roslin, her awards are
going to your last known address. So that does it.
For the main part of this episode, we're going to
go into the spoiler section. If we have any spoilers,
we'll see when we get there.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
But better I want to know more.

Speaker 2 (29:02):

need to stop listening right about now, and we will
have you join us next time for the episode Blood
on the Scales, which will continue the events from this episode.

living stereo stylus in this group.

(29:45):
three two one.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
All right, let's spoil something.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
What happens to the ship? You don't remember?

Speaker 2 (29:53):
What do you mean? What happens to it?

Speaker 3 (29:54):
I feel like Laura obviously gets away with it. She's
like gonna get to her destination and takes everything right.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Yes, I mean remembering specifically how events go down. Not
too sure. I think so they retake the CIC. I
think Chief Carrold does does a lot more next time too.
I think he's like crawling through the vowels of the
ship to get to where they need to go. And
while he's down there, he notices that Galactica has got

(30:22):
some major crack center and isn't going to live much longer.
Oh no, so then setting up for kind of the
rest of the episodes there. But yeah, we Gata and
Zeric do not win this, and they are executed. They
execute Kata how in the airlock? No wait, I think

(30:44):
it's firing.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
Spot what And he has Derek too.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Yep, together, and I think there's a kind of nice
heart to heart between Baltar and Gata right before that.
But yeah, it's the end of a sad arc Forgata.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Yeah, I'm damn out fit air.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Yeah. I think next episode is kind of continues the
energy of this episode. So it's very much satisfying in
that way, I guess. So after that, we kind of
shift gears and we start learning a lot more about
the Cylons the final five, and we get Ellen back
in the mix, and I'm glad it's going.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
To feel like she has this chaotic energy about her
that really lives up the Cylon crews and the lives
is of like a Colonel Tie and everyone else. I
just keep anytime I think about Ellen, I think about
that time they had dinner and she was flirting so
hard with Leadama, so hard.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Well, I wanted to touch on how Adama is like
very clear about how there is no forgiveness, no amnesty
for anyone who's taking sides against them. M that's not
necessarily true because the end of the series, they need
everyone they can get to go attack the Cylon colony,
and so we see people like track Back in action.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
So there's some forgiveness for like white women meant but
you're a gay brown man, you're.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Fuck well, you're leading the insurrection versus you know, just
merely participating in it.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
I was just caught up in the heat of the moment.
You know. Then why was there duct tape and firearms
in the trunk at your car? Ma'am? I don't know.
I don't know if I buy it. How do they gauge,
like how innocent somebody is they're a loyalty test. I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
I don't know either, and I don't know what else
to talk about.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
All right, Well, let's end this episode.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
So next time, there will be blood on the scales
of justice.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Is that what it means?

Speaker 2 (32:45):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Oh, it means blood on the scales of a dragon.
What if the show all of a sudden just had
dragons in it?

Speaker 2 (32:51):
No, there's an interview somewhere with Edward James almost or.
He was like, if they bring aliens into the show,
I'll give them like one scene where I fake a
heart attack and die, then I'm out.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
He's not into Star Trek.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
No, he just didn't want the series to go there.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Oh well, and in the next episode he's going to
have a heart attack.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
All right, that's it something about a mutiny and don't
do that or do it depends?

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Yeah, would you do a mutiny? I feel like I
would be like, I'm open to technology. What if it's
like the introduction of Wi Fi. You know what I mean.
We've been using these fucking calm systems and all of
a sudden, now I can text people. What I get
the Cylon technology?

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Please, Suddenly you can be like streaming and all this stuff.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Yeah, I want TikTok.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
I don't have to listen to these like twenty four
hour political talk shows they seem to have.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
It's either political talk or the religious like radio station
and the rural like Arkansas.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Might only have two stations.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Yeah, I think, Yeah, sign me up network nic ship. Yeah,
give me the Sylon technology please? Oh my god. All right, Well,
see y'all later. So say we all, So say.
