(00:00):
Speaking of the Hill is brought toyou by the Fourth Think of Discount Network.
Well, we're gonna make some menout of those twelve year old boys
tomorrow. I tell you what,Well, we still get to play practical
jokes. Right. They're not jokes, Bill, they're painful lessons. I
thank my father for all the trickshe played on me. He taught me
the most wonderful lesson a child canlearn. Never trust nobody. That's how

(00:23):
I know Bob Dole's faking that deadarm. I'll tell you what you do,
man, A dang old hand anda water trick, going work every
time. Ain't put into water likethat, and it don't. It's that's
been a whole dad dum day likethat. Clean up that dang old peepee.
Eh. But those are getting tired. We need some new material.
Dad. Can me and Bobby bringa life preservers? If you want to

(00:45):
be sissies? He said, yes, what you're listening to, son,
I don't think you like it.Welcome to Speaking of the Hill and Ozzie
King of the Hill podcast, wherewe go back and review every episode of
the iconic series for the very firsttime. And that's what we have never
watched Key of the Hill ever,But don't be afraid, guys, we
have loved the show so far.But yes we're hit stage review episode three

(01:07):
of the series. It is theOrder of the Straight Arrow. I am
Dando, he is Dando, andI am guying. Yes, we are
indeed newbies it comes to King ofthe Hill, but we come at it
with a lot of love. Youare one percent right, And I don't
know. I mean, I don'tthink we've broken the streak with the Order
of the Straight Arrow. Having saidthat, you know, it was more
of a sort of a for meat least, I don't know. It's

(01:32):
hard to describe really, I mean, I've got a few I didn't get
many laughs out of it, buta lot of smiles out of it,
a lot of like hmm, yeah, I mean I enjoyed it. I
didn't. I don't think I wasnecessarily like it was more like mm,
if you know what I mean.My exact words here are in my notes.
An enjoyable episode, but not anoverly laugh out loud episode. Yeah,

(01:53):
and here you go, folks. We are not you know, we're
not collaborating on these notes beforehand. We're pretty much winging it. That.
Yeah, it's a conversation show. All everything we do on the Fourthinger discount
network here, you know, downand I will get together and talk about
what do you think of this? What do you think of that? Live
and on air. So it's goodthat we're in sync about that. I

(02:15):
mean, I don't think either ofus disliked this episode, but yeah,
we found it was just more ofa sort of a I don't know,
a chill vibe so to speak.I enjoyed it for different reasons. For
what I liked the first two episodesbecause the first two episodes of very Hank
Hill being confused with the world kindof kind of thing, and that's what
I like. That's what I relateto. So five King of the Hill,

(02:35):
that the Hank Hill character. Butthis one here, what I liked
about it was the charm of thefather's son bonding and how it changed and
how he wanted to relive what hedid when he was a kid, because
that's a father. Now. Ilove seeing Elliott like playing with my toys
that I have when I was akid. I'm like, oh, it's
like it's like it's not reliving youryouth, but it's like seeing yourself as
a child. It's a it's aweird thing to describe. And I saw

(02:55):
I like them. I like thataspect of this episode, how was reliving
through Bobby what he did when hewas a kid. You like to see
the chain sort of continue that there'ssome yeah, tradition, that's that's ongoing.
Now. Not all traditions are good, you know, some of them
can result in let's not say,a cycle of abuse, but sort of

(03:17):
some certain bad patterns can maybe reoccur. So it's important to notice that and
maybe make adjustments where necessary. Imean, notice I said play with my
toys as opposed to abuse. Look, I may be overstayed in the case
when I say abuse, but yeah, yeah, not every tradition necessarily has

(03:39):
to has to go on. Butbut it's good. That's that's good that
some do. Absolutely. Yeah. What I did like here though, was
sort of highlighting here that the cyclehas been broken. So Hank. The
relationship between Hank and Cotton not agreat one. For all the flashbacks we
have seen so far, it seemsthat Hank is kind of like dealing with

(04:00):
trauma of what Cotton put him through. But it was it's very different to
how Hank parents right, and Hankwas sort of saying, you know,
it's it's part of the traditions ofwhat he says to Bobby at the end,
you know, us versus you kindof thing. He is, but
I want to be against you. We're a team dad, And I was
like, ah, so it's sortof like that's the way of saying the
Hank and Cotton relationship whilst Hank wastrying to continue that kind of aspect on
it's ended now with Bobby. Bobbywants to be friends with Hank. He's

(04:23):
not the enemy, he's his bestfriend. It really was a very sweet
moment when your Bobby says, we'resupposed to be on the same team,
and a little heartbreaking as well whenhe's get it, Yes, I mean
it would suck to have, youknow, the one man that you're I
guess supposed to look up to.Its supposed to emulating's supposed to a view
as a role model, is playingpranks on you or yeah, doing stuff

(04:49):
that you that he may view asfun and you don't necessarily view as fun.
It sort of sets you up toI don't have a bad view and
not necessarily a bad view of theworld, but you know, it creates
a little bit of suspicion about, you know, how the way the world
is supposed to operate, especially whenyou're a kid and you're supposed to figure
out when you're trying to figure outthe mysterious ways of adults. You never

(05:11):
want your kid to not trust you, you know, and once you've broken
that trust, believe me, itis very hard to earn that trust back.
You know. My daddy used tobe a pranks when I was younger,
and then they got to the pointwhere I just sort of like even
when he was when he was genuinelybeing nice to my dad, I didn't
believe it. I was like,no, no, you're never nice.
You know, you're always playing, like, what's the joke? Here's how

(05:31):
am I going to get you madefun of it by the end of this.
But no, sometimes you just gottajust gotta be nice to your kids.
Just just just love him, youknow what I mean. And shout
out to my son Elliott. Bythe way, he got grummets put into
his ears this week. Um,so it's been a bit a bit crazy
at the Danna household. It wasI used the word trauma before it was

(05:56):
pretty traumatic for me, to becompletely honest, I think it's kind and
I sent to Nichola last night.I feel like I'm kind of and this
may sound ridiculous to some people, but seeing Elliott, would they forcing the
mask on his face. It's almostlike a bit of ptsd M. I
had a nightmare about it last night. It's I think it's actually affected me.
And I shout out to any parentsout there whose kids are going,

(06:16):
you know, under Annasetti for thefirst time. So Elliot's four and a
half, well aware of of hissurroundings, but I just feel like the
approach that was taken because basically Iwouldn't to allow this bed so I can
put the mask on him, right, And it's a bit sort of like,
oh, I don't really want toget in this, but I'm in
this stranger of all these strange peoplewearing masks, big blue coats. You
know. It was it was veryoverwhelming for him. It's a bit overwhelming
for me walking to the room, all these big lights and things, so

(06:38):
I didn't really want to go inthe best straight away. And she was
just like I was talking about trustbefore, and I consider trust a very
big thing in the nur said, just lay him down. He'll be fine.
We'll be fine. I'm like Isaid, I said to Alie exact
words, it'll be fine, mate, I promise, trust me, it'll
be It'll be fine. I'd promise. And that's my way of sort of
reassuming if I say that to him, that's his comfort and saying, okay,
everything will be all fine, it'dbe all fine. I lay him

(07:00):
down on the bed and instantaneously thenurse just straps him up with like these
blankets, so she wraps him overso he's pinned. His arms are pinned,
almost like a strait jacket. Hefreaks out. These two other doctors
grab his feet and pinny his feetdown, and she just forces his mask
on his face. And I'm standingthere over him sort of right just trying
to comfort him. I'm inside, dying inside but not showing it, and

(07:21):
Alliott screaming, help me, Daddy, help me, daddy. I'm saying
please, please take it off.I'm saying please. I'm saying please.
It fucking affected me, man,That's what I was going back to before.
And I feel like now since then, Alliott's I've sensed the trust is
a little bit off. You know, since that day, he doesn't not
trust me, but he's just sortof bit more weary of there, and
I think it's affected him as well. So just shout out to any nurses

(07:44):
out there, just think about howyou approach these things, because I just
wanted to get out there on anyof my podcasts that I've been affected a
little bit a lot by this. And if you're a parent out there,
just be prepared that you know, give the nurse of the heads up that
you know, don't you don't haveto be so forceful with the kids.
Because Eliot wasn't really fighting it,but I guess I was just like,
we we're just gonna get it doneand takes twenty seconds get it in and

(08:05):
out. But that twenty seconds wasreally fucking It was a big deal for
me and it's really it has reallyaffected me. So yeah, I just
want to get that out there.I just have to vent that out cook
anyone else to really talk to.This is my outlet, these podcasts,
so I just want to I justwant to get that out there. Just
um, yeah, trust can bea it's trust an important thing, and
I feel like it was slightly brokenthere with that moment. No, justifiably,
so you're saying that, mate,I mean, look, I've no

(08:26):
doubt that you know, the bulkof nurses and medical professionals, I've got
a very good bedside manner, particularlywhen it comes to dealing with children.
But occasionally you're going to get theodd bad egg who just spoils it for
everybody else. And here it soundslike this was that kind of situation.
I'm very very sorry that Elliott, and then that you had to go through
that. I mean, that's justa that's a that's a tough, tough
beat. But yeah, I thinkanyone who listens to any of the podcasts

(08:52):
under the on the four Finger discain their work, and quite frankly you
should be listening to all of them, knows that Dando was definitely at the
running to get the world's Greatest dadcoffee mug every single birthday, in Father's
Day and probably on Christmas as well. So I wouldn't be sweating too much
about, you know, broken trustor anything like that. I think Elliott
knows you know what time it is. Well, today we were playing basketball

(09:13):
because he's got a couple of daysoff from kinder and you know, we
were the two in squad. We'llplaying against the Mons stars who would make
believe but we're pretending that we're there. And Aliothi's act words were we're the
best team, and I'm like, damn straight, there you go. Yeah,
of course, then I hope you'redunked one in more something. But
this episode here, so I feellike this is an episode you'll enjoy a

(09:33):
lot more of you went through thewhole boy Scout things. That's what it's
taking off. The Order of theStraight Arrows. The Order of the arrow
is the boy Scouts in the States. Anyway, were you ever a boy
scout? Did you ever do likethat kind of thing? I was never
into it. Never. You know, these hands, you know, they're
rough for more than manual work I'vedone. But I'm not someone who's going
to great camping. I just fuckingfuck campy man. Just not my thing.
Yeah, look, I never didany boy scout kind of business when

(09:56):
I was younger. I mean, listeners of the of the shows will know
that I did a year of boardingschool at the campus called Timotop, which
is up in the up in themountains outside Mansfield in Victoria near Mount Bullet.
So you did a lot of Youdid a lot of camping, and
did a lot of hiking. Youdid a bit of stuff in the snow.
You know. It was very itwas very outdoorsy. And while I

(10:20):
was like, I don't think anyone of any note ever actually slept in
the dirt. So do we haveto keep doing this? I don't know.
In hindstart, I'm thinking, oh, look, getting into the great
outdoors was kind of fun. Ihave a vision in my head or an
idea in my head about camping. It's very sort of an idyllic Buy a
river, it's nice, a littlecamp fire, you know, it's all

(10:41):
getting back to nature. It's allvery tranquil and nights. I don't think
that corresponds to any actual real campingbecause the lovely the reason I actually went
camping a couple of years ago.Now you guys were like, I went
none of this. A hot coupleof days down by the Murray River.
There've been flooding and then recessions. The whole camping ground was quite kind of

(11:03):
weird. We were there, youknow, with some some good people who
were a bit more experienced than whenit came to be camping than us,
but Yeah, after a few days, I was like, you know,
we're leaving tomorrow, We're leaving realearly, and we're going to get back
to civilization, and we're going tohave a shower and we're going to shit
in toilets like human beings. Andthat's funny proposed to it. That is,

(11:26):
it's like you're a keeper, babe. Yeah, what do you think
of the Peggy's got big feet gag? This is a recurring gag throughout the
history of the show of Going Forward, Peggy's got giant man feet, as
they referred to it. What doyou think of it? What did you
think she was up to? Well, that's the thing. I mean,
I'm as we as we said atthe start of the show, newbies to

(11:48):
King of the Hill, I'm doingan episode by episode. I'm not one
hundred minutes event familiar with the withthe lore of the show, with the
background and thing like that, SoI wasn't I wasn't aware of the whole
big feet thing. I think Ithink it might be a cool aspect for
this podcast that we keep it thatway, because it almost as if this
podcast is released in real time whenthe show came out. If we don't
know aspect of it, Yeah,I really do. And I think I'm

(12:11):
going to presume for you listeners aswell. Out there, like I think
the listeners might like it too, they go, No, we prefer experts
because because if we if we havegone twenty what six years or whatever it
is without watching an episode, thenlet's take advantage of that, you know,
absolutely, yeah, yeah, Imean it's always great to discover new
things for the first time. Yeah, that's a bit of a toutology.

(12:33):
But anyway, but when it cameto the whole Piggy storyline aspect, I
mean I think the initial thing wasI mean, well, the first time
he really gets some inkling that she'swanting a bit of or needs of it,
a time to herself, you know, all right guys, yeah,
go go go, go get outof here. I mean, what was
it push start in the car.I thought that was just fantastic. What
I was getting was real rancho, relaxo kind of flashbacks like initially, Oh,

(12:58):
she's just gonna want to have thehouse to herself, and you know
it's going to be fantastic. You'll, you know, maybe pour us off
a glass of yes, spread eagleout on the bed, all that kind
of alone time stuff that everybody needsonce in a while. And then it's
very clever how they sort of passabout gradually, gradually, gradually. It's
like, Oh, she's getting abunch of money at oh, and she's

(13:20):
being syncretive about that. Why isthat the gaze She's on the road somewhere
somewhere kind of distant and remote,it seems because she can't pick up a
radio station on the car radio. What is going on? You know?
Given false names when she checks intothe into the motel Salmon. I found
it really interesting but also kind ofLook, I won't say I've got absolute
wander lust or anything like that, but I'm a sucker for a good road

(13:41):
trip. I've taken one or twoin my time where you're just you know,
you make some mixtapes or you justload up a good playlist or whatever
you get in the car, evenan idea of where you want to go.
But yeah, you don't haven't necessarilyhave a fixed schedule. I love
that. I've only done it afew times, but I've enjoyed it every
time i've done it. So yeah, when Peggy was doing this, something

(14:03):
good for you, girl, Yougirl, girl, and of course you
find out exactly why she's doing it. Just one of the big shoes,
but she just needs big air shoes. I did like how she settled on
a certain white noise because she couldn'tcouldn't get anything. Obviously, I'll just
take this one. Then this episodewas dedicated with at the end to Victor

(14:24):
Aaron. Now, Victor Aaron wasthe original voice of John Redcorn in the
first season of this show. Heunfortunately lost his life in a car accident
on my birthday actually September fourth,in nineteen ninety six, before the show
even began to air, which isjust a tragedy put in the work.
He didn't actually get to see theresults, which is a real shame.
But yeah, so he passed awayon September fourth, ninety six, just

(14:48):
a week before his fortieth birthday, and he gets replaced by Jonathan jos in
season two, who plays John Redcorn. But yeah, it's that's why I
think they chose the right episode todedicate to him as well, with this
one here being you know, let'stalk about that. So this is very
very middle aged white man racism withoutrealizing they're being racist, you know,

(15:11):
it's just taking making fun almost tohis to his face, of all the
traditions and things like that. Yeah, I mean more insensitive than than actually
sort of cruel. Yeah, theyain't trying to be cruel. They just
were completely just blind to what theywere doing. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
And I mean I'm wondering how theywould react if you know, John

(15:35):
started talking smack about, you know, the local Baptist church or wherever.
What religion are these guys. Doyou think what a religion they have in
Texas? But yes, regardless, like I said, it more insensitive than
cruel. But you know, insensitiveinsensitivity. Even even when it's done without
malice, it still has a degreeof cruelty to it. It's not exactly

(15:56):
something you want to hear at theend of the day. Though. The
other turn to it is that atleast he gets to bang Dale's missus.
Well, that's true. I mean, I just get a huge laugh out
of you know, John redcorned thesubtle playboys like he would be my honor
to look after your wave. Okay, what a lord. But John's also

(16:18):
clearly, you know, he's notfeeling too grand about it. I mean,
he said very seriously when he sayswhat is it the spirit bag is
very secret, yes, yeah, but the little A few other little things
that I little facts about this episodethat I managed to scramble across here on
the interwebs, where there were variousautographed photos in the shoe store, and
one of them was an Attorney GeneralJanet Reno. And the shot of Peggy,

(16:45):
the one that we're describe earlier,of her in the middle of nowhere
trying to adjust a radio dial. That shot is actually used in another upcoming
episode called Next of Shin I believeit's the fortieth episode of the series,
maybe wrong, where Hank Mill andDale are traveling to Las Vegas. And
I read that and I was like, that's an episod that I want to
watch. Hand looked in Las Vegasnow in real life. Snipes Snipes,

(17:06):
the bird in this episode that they'resupposed to be hunting. A snipe is
actually a small bird native to theNorth America, North America, and that
is a prize for its elusive andhard to kill nature, leading to the
term sniper. Well there you go. Yeah, how does Wesley Snipes come
into this? Oh yeah, wellhe's very hard to kill. That's true.

(17:30):
That's obviously not his real name. That's a fucking badass name, right,
Wesley Snipes. Let's look it up. Yeah, what is his real
name, Wesley Snipe. That's gotto be his real name, you reckon.
I think it might be Wesley TrentSnipes. That is his real name.
What man? That guy was bornfor superstardom. It's his real name,
Wesley Snipes. What a name,Wesley Trent Snipes. Yeah, like

(17:53):
that guy is legit. You're justborn to be a fucking action star.
I saw I was on ute youI think yesterday, and I was I
saw a trailer for a newcoming, new upcoming movie called Back to the Strip
or Back on the Strip, starringWesley's It was basically a black Magic Mike.
Okay, I could work it lookedit look I don't know. It

(18:14):
looked cheap as like a lot ofWesley stars movies because it's a tagline.
You thought magic Mike was a bigdeal. Well there you go. Let's
get in touch with the makers ofthe new Wesley Sis moved. Say I'm
offering my services free of tag Yeah. It looks sheep, but it also
looked like fun. Because I don'tknow, Wesley just improves everything two percent,

(18:36):
as far as I because you lovedWesley, don't. Yeah, I
do. He's my man. Acouple other things before we move on to
trivia. So Peggy she checks intoMotel seven in this episode, which apparently
is a parody of a real thereal life Motel six. Motel six is
a chain in the US. Yeah, I think they're kind of your motel
Motel guy deal. It's the thebeer, the bare basics, the bare

(19:00):
minimum. I'm probably I should reallyshouldn't be dissing Motel six. They're probably
quite notice now said. One ofthe notes in the on the page was
that when the park ranger walks intothe into the group in the morning and
wakes them all up, this isa half A young, half naked woman
is seen sneaking out of boom Howe'stent with boom Hower close behind. But
I went back and I was like, oh really, I'm how did I
miss that? I went back andwatched it. No, it's just a

(19:21):
woman with a dress on. She'snot half naked at all. Unless they
met she was in her ninety I'mnot too sure, but she I wouldn't
call that half naked unless they've goneback I wouldn't call that half naked either.
I mean, that's it was apretty nifty gang that her coming out
of the dent and boom hour notfar very long. But yeah, it's
not like she was undressed or anythinglike that. As well, she's in
her skin bees yeah. Yeah. And then when Dale was jumping out at

(19:44):
the tent and falling down, whenhe was all tied up, his hat
falls off, revealing a full headof hair despite the fact that he is
bald. That's all that about,do you think? Yeah, no,
no idea at all. But anyway, there are some facts, and now
it's time for some trivia. Iam a proud ignorant woman. No one
is going to change that. Now. That is the stupidest thing I ever
heard anyone say. All right, mister Davis's time for truvia before we get

Each week now every podcast we do, I'm going to find out what movie
was number one at the US boxoffice for that week in which this episode
aired. So this episode aired onFebruary second, nineteen ninety seven, So
take yourself back to February second, early ninety seven. Mister Davis, you
know you have the movie men. You're the movie guy. What do you

(23:03):
think was number one at the USbox office on February second or that week
of nineteen ninety seven, the weekof January thirty first to February six.
Mm, well, I'm thinking aboutwhat were the big releases the end of
nineteen ninety six and what would maybebleed over? I want to say maybe
Scream Scream comes in at number fourfor this one. All right, I'm

(23:29):
going to need a little hint, mister Dan, come on, well number
two. Hinting skills number two hereis, show me the clues. What
was J J mcguires number two?Number one? I was like, that
wasn't released then, Oh, it'sthe re release? Oh would it be
Star Wars episode four? And youhope it is? It was number one

(23:52):
at the US box office when thisepisode of King of the Hill aired.
Yeah, I remember the glory dayswhen Star Wars was still kind of a
novel. You weren't you weren't inundatedwith all manner of Star Wars stuff.
And feel like I feel like Idon't know Star Wars anymore. I feel
like I don't know all this, all these extra kids shows and things like
that. But if you watching MandalorianI'm just like, I'm just not enthused
anymore about it. It's a realshame. I like the first episode,

(24:15):
and I still I haven't watched episodetwo of the new season yet, but
I must admit the excitement's gone forme. Yeah, listeners of the shows
will know that I was a huge, huge fan of Andre and I was
like, it's Wednesday at the andor day. Yeah, I can't wait
more of that. You know,New Mando dropped on Wednesday. Yeah,
but I've also got this new Jasonstate and of course Jason stayed from days

(24:40):
present, so we're just about everything. But I was like, we'll get
Demando when I get Demando. Shouldn'tbe that way. I should I should
be I should be front row centerfor every Star Wars thing. But it's
not exactly the case. But that'sall right. But okay, thank you
for those hints. You're gonna haveto keep giving me hints huge because it's
so long ago. But I liketo think I'll get it when I get
it. Yes, all right,So my first question for you is what

(25:03):
drink did boom Hammer Baby boom Hammerbring to the order of the show.
Arrow. Oh, it's is abloody Mary mix Captain Colonel's Bloody Mary mix,
which is actually not an alcoholic.I love that, you know,
just that vodka and everyone's like,oh yeah, getting all worked up on
it. My first question to you, according to Joseph, what does Peggy

(25:26):
smell like? A miracle whip shedoes? Or squirty cream as you might
call what has used to grown upto become He's become a successful patterned Loyd
m correct. What's his son's nameagain, Randy? Randy, Yes,
it's it's easy to see why Ustaceisn't really sort of part of the main

(25:49):
crew. By the way, howmuch did they both look like especially when
he was a kid. I usedto look like them the social worker from
episode one. They've got a certaintype when they're poking fun. Yeah,
I think what is the name ofthe bill that will stop the importation of
South American propane? HR fifty sevenfifty seven? And my final question here

(26:14):
that I've got is where were theyplanning to dump the bird? A dumpster
behind? Where it dumpster behind Stuckism, which was a chain of restaurants.
Not sure the restaurants are still around, And that's not a restaurant. It's
a convenient store, but it mayhave had restaurants in ninety seven, but
it's now a convenient store. Stuckis well? I hit you with one
more question, hit me with onemore and more Start air review. Yeah,

(26:37):
okay, what is Hank's tribal name? Ah Man? I should have?
Apparently it was ad lived as well. Um starts with one of them,
starts with K, right it does? Now? What is that?
Ends with Elk killing Elk, kickingElk. If you feel like having yourself
the time, then check out ournew podcast us Going Down to South Park?

(27:00):
Would he go back and revisit everyepisode of the iconic series, dissecting
the stories reveling and chef singer lungsand chuckling at the occasional fart joke.
Going Down to South Park is aboutbut now for free on iTunes, Spotify,
or wherever you find your podcasts. The original air day of The Order
of the Straight Arrow was February second, nineteen ninety seven. It was written

(27:21):
by Cheryl Holiday and directed by ClayHall. The episode kicks off with the
cold open, It's got Hank invitingall the guys are to the Boys Order
of the Straight Arrow event over theweekend. Maybe a bit of a flashback
there to up to theirs and acotton again. Just a horrible human being.
He really is a monster. He'sa monster. He's not just a
bad dad, He's just a badman. Ye make it, you're dad,

(27:47):
But you can tell that this ishow you think your parent. I
mean, because he looks like he'shaving fun with It's like, oh,
I'm a great dad. I mean, he's gonna pull evil face, all
the monster face on the kids. He's having a blast. He's having an
absolute ball doing side. But thekids that justifiably terrified of him. What's
up. What's funny is that Hankactually thinks that that was the right way

(28:10):
to be raised as well, becauseyou know, he makes fun of useless
later on. Imagine if you know, my dad said he loved me no
matter what. And it's funny howby the end he sort of realized,
I'll wait a minute, useless isapproach to parenting is how I should be
approaching it. I shouldn't been mockingthis guy. Yeah, and your boys
getting out there and back some stopsnipe. Shut up, Dale, there

(28:36):
is no snipe. I heard mydad talking to your dad, So what
are we doing out here, we'regonna get snackered. I tell you what,
boy mine. I want to gethome my Steff and they die blued
our minds three cheeks that nan Owin many ill up. I'm gonna drink
this stuff every day just like mydad, and fly jets and maybe even

(28:56):
be an astronaut. I'm going tolive in London and be a rich millionaire
and now people killed. I'm gonnasell propaine and pro paine accessories if my
grades are good enough kids, andthey're crazy dreams. I'm so depressed I
can't even blank. But we alsoget the reveal here too from Hank that

(29:18):
that the Snipe was never real.So they're letting you know from the get
go this is the bullshit story. We're gonna be telling everybody you know,
just say no in advance that Snipeisn't real. So we get the intro
start off with Bobby and Joseph battlingout with some power tools. Did you
ever do stupid shit like that?Like battle? That was something that you
look back now and go, whatwas I thinking? The closest thing we
did was like backyard wrestling, wherewe like jumped off the roof of the
house. Doing a splash and thingslike that. Yeah. I did stuff

(29:41):
like that certainly. And look,I was probably messing around, not necessarily
with power tools, but certainly likeaxes and saws. Maybe before I should
have. You know, we hada little woodshed out the back of our
old house. I'm like, well, I'm gonna help shop up wood for
the fire, please. It's like, I probably shouldn't have been. Now.
The axe was as big as meand the saw was rusty as hell,
and if you know that's slipped,I probably would have got tetanus.

(30:03):
Yeah. So um, but that'swhat you want to do when you're a
kid. Yeah, you know, you sort of you look at the things
around you. When you you're kindof already grow up and you're Harry,
I've sort of, you know, use the things of the adult world.
What's the point in life where youwant to start going backwards? Do you
think mid twenties, late twenties,Yeah, maybe it'll be thirty ish,
No, I remember sort of thefirst nostalgia I had was maybe in my

(30:26):
mid twenties, yeah, and Iwas thinking I'm a little young for this,
aren't I. Yeah, Because becausewhen you're young, like you said,
you want to grow up when you'rewhen you're older, you want to
be young again. It's just like, what's the point where it's sort of
what's there going to be some teamnice happy medium points. It's like,
I'm just in the right phase ofmy labins, I mean, the right
place of the right time. Youjust mentioned power tools. It reminded me

(30:48):
my uncle Harry used to still asa carpeenter, but he doesn't do that
anymore, but he still has qualified. But his whole back shed used to
be like his carpeter like it usedto be wood room, basically used to
call the wood room. And justthe smell of it so lovely. I
love the smell of the when yougo to wood class at school. He's
just got that fresh smells. Ilove that. Yeah. But yeah,
so basically, yeah, they've beenbatter the power tools, and Hank says,

(31:10):
you know, he's going to turnthose boys into men, and Dale's
going to teach him from life lessonslike never trust nobody, and I've got
he hated. I hated. Ihate when people say that never trust nobody,
that means you're gonna always trust everybody. Well, yeah, that's true.
It's bad grammar, but a goodlife, lesson perfect grammar for someone
like Dale, though, people, but people never trust nobody. I'm like,
so always trust everybody? What's thedouble negative? His buddy and Boomhower

(31:36):
he has boom how's just here forthe fun funny games. We'll put the
hand in the water and make himpiss their pants and stuff. Having a
great time. And Joseph arsked Dale, can we have some life preservers if
you want to be sissies? Hesaid, yes? Can you also relate
to Bobby and Joseph because we canrelate to Hank. Now can you relate
to Bobby and Joseph in regards likeyou're going camping? You want to be
protected, you want life preservers. You wouldn't mind being called a sissy even

(31:59):
meant you got to take what youwanted right exactly. Yeah, I'm happy
to be assist, even it meansI can take my game. Boy.
I love how you know sort ofselfish? Shoot, he is. I
mean, I mean a lot ofways he's not self confident, but in
so many other ways he is.And it's mainly, you know, born
of a sort of innocence and thenbut yeah, I mean moments like that

(32:20):
I just yeah, they're very sweetand and kind of dryly funny. So
I like that a lot. JohnRedcorn arrives and Hank suggests me some funny
Indian stuff, and I was like, whoa, okay, hey Dale,
there's your wife's uh heitler. Yeah, John Redcorn, let's get some funny
Indian stuff to do. Hey,John Redcorn, think del Bill Boomhower.

(32:45):
John Redcorn, We've got this orderof the Straight Arrow Retreat tomorrow. And
I was wondering, I'd be honoredto look after your wife. Oh well,
gee, thanks, But what Iwas really wondering is if you had
some good Indian stuff for the ceremonyaround the campfire. Our rituals are considered

(33:05):
sacred and are passed down only inthe nation. Oh well, that don't
bother us. Hell no, we'lltake a sacred one. There is a
very ancient ceremony I learned from mygrandfather. We call upon the sacred we
Matigna, and we asked him tobreathe life into our spirit bag. See
spirit bags women, Tanya funny lookinghead band. Oh the boys are gonna

(33:27):
eat this stuff up. The spiritbag is very sacred. You should not
make light. I like how yousay everything's sacred. That's funny too.
Let's do that, Hank. Butum yes, it gives them their tips
that they're looking for the women timethat way, I said, fetching on
times in this episode, it's almosttwo every minute. It's almost staff women
times. I was wondering how many, because it's a lot. It is

(33:49):
a lot. Yeah, it's thepoint, but it's almost it's not funny
in the end, but I'm almostannoying. But um yes, he says,
the kids are gonna eat all thisstuff up. He says, you
shouldn't make flatten. Then Dale's justsaid everything should be sacred. Make everything
sacred. I'll think that's good. And Bill says, um, he's got
some tennis socks from his ex wifeand he loves the fact that she she
gets blisters now when she plays tennis. And thanks, like, I'm pretty
sure she would have bought some newsocks. Bill look on his face up.

(34:14):
Sorry good note on online with someonesaid the fact that he asked for
the socks back. At the end, though, he sort of shows that
he can't. He can't let go. He can't let go of it.
No, Joseph and Bobby and outin a tent. They're planet. They're
preparing to go camping. Now they'regetting all ready to go, and they're
excited to get their badges. Iwant to get that straight outrow Patch so
bad. I'm gonna put it righthere next to my sow in bach.

(34:37):
It's supposed to be hard. Iheard they make you walk on hot coals
and then you have to eat themafter you walk on them. Hell,
that's hot. Hell, you're nkingfuck? Don't they mate? Did I
just hear what I almost heard?I was gonna say fuck it about son.

(35:00):
Peggy Hill knows half a swear wordwhen she hears one. I go
to sleep. You have the coolestmom. She smells like miracle whip.
I like this gag a lot.Actually, it was one of my favorite
bits from me. It was like, I'm gonna put it right in here
next to my sewing bead, whichimmediately falls off. Yeah, because he's
so shit at sewing. Yes.Then Usless arrives with Randy and he calls

(35:24):
him useless. You don't see himfor the rest of the episode. I
thought it was gonna be like arecurring thing throught the episode. Maybe they're
going to invite him with him.But I think you know what it is,
he's outgrown this shit usless useless. Is like, you guys are stuck
here doing the same shit you weredoing when you were kids, carrying on
this stupid tradition. You guys goingnowhere. You guys mocked me. I'm

(35:45):
a I'm a successful pattern lawyer.Hey son. By the way, you
know, if you don't do it, don't worry about it. I still
love you. Anyway. They makefun of him, He's just like,
whatever, Why would Why would anythingyou guys say bother me? You guys
are standing there drinking beer on thesidewalk. It's something good about the show.
I mean, I think it's heartis will and truly with the Hill
family, will and truly with Hank. It's not afraid to point out his

(36:07):
foibles. But I mean, Ithink the show really does have a soft
spot for Hank and his way ofviewing the world. But it also recognizes,
Yeah, he's fucking up, orhe's not. He's not moving with
the times quite fast enough. Yeah, you know, he's he's moving with
the times, he's learning on thefly. Yeah. But but someone like

(36:29):
Eustace has actually sort of got thegame sussed. Now this is where Lanne
gets pushed at the door leaving forthe arrangement. What does she give him?
She gives him a disposal camera camebased a fun save. I think
she called it fast, yes,but she gives one to hank As while
she was everyone gone really fast andI've just got here. I can relate,
like when Nicholas like, I'm gonnatake the kids at the park for

(36:50):
an hour, so he got sometime to yourself that five minutes beforehand.
I'm just like out kid getting fuckingshoes on. Now at the fucking door.
Just get the fuck out of here. By the way, A quick
thing about the fund saver, Imean it just felt for a moment.
How long did the disposable camera haveits moment in the sun until phones could

(37:12):
take me? Well, when didthey first come on the scene. Well
around when I was a kid,so they maybe about what ten years?
Oh for just before digital cameras.Digital cameras are around early two thousands.
I'd say I'm not late, notlate nineties. They were really expensive.
They are really accessible. By theearly two thousand, you could have fought
one. By the early two thousands, I reckon we got one here,

(37:32):
a little a little Sony one that'suh, you know, it's slightly smaller
than mobile phone, little zoom scope. Yeah, it's it's such a cool
looking piece of kit that I don'twant to get rid of it. It's
obsolete, but I love it.I'm not getting rid of it. I'm
not putting that onto long marketplace. But it's i'd say probably ten to fifteen
years. I don't know when thefirst one came out, but look back

(37:55):
now and you think, man,the process that we used to have to
go through to get a phone, you know, not a Polaro because we
put the ship in there. Butlike you'd take the photo and just hope
that you got the snaff you're wanting, hoping that, yeah, that something
was in focus, that you know, the heads were in frame, all
that kind of business that you know, you didn't look like too much of
a goose. That was I'm sorryto be doing that. It used to

(38:20):
be better. But that was thecharm of it though, because now now
we try to take the perfect photoevery time. We keep taking photos poto
the photo of photo until it's perfecthow we want it. Back then,
you took your photo, you gotyour given and you cherished that moment in
physical form. Yeah, that's thething. I mean, it was like
it was a bit like Christmas. You know, you'd go to the photo
photo lab or whatever rods you'd pickit up. Oh my god, that

(38:43):
sucks. Oh that's so terrible.Oh and you know they're the ones who
would end up on your wall,on your collars. Yeah, it was
great. It's like Christmas time.My Land's got some great photos that she
kept. She I don't know howit happened, but she took like two
lots of film with the one film. So like the the two pots lots
of photos, I merged into one. The omeber the money. We picked

(39:05):
them up. The guy at theKodak place was like, I've never seen
this before in my life. Youknow. There's one great photo of one
of my cousins, Taylor. She'sa baby and she's there like a baby
photos sort of like a toddler atthe time. She's standing there, and
there was a photo of my NaN'sdog, Caesar. She's taking a photo
and the ears are perfect, likeYoda on the side of her head.
It's like, you couldn't plan thisship, you know, But I don't

(39:29):
know about photos, so I'm yeah, so she'd given him the fun staf.
She wants them more at the door. Um, you know you said
you gotta asked a great spirit Wataniato look over them now and says,
pee now, because we ain't goingto be stopping on the way. I
can't remember last one. I wenton a road trip where I drove more
than three hours of it. Havethem take Nina to take a piss.
Can you remember, Like, nowthat I'm getting old, I need to
take a piss at least every twoto three hours. Oh god, yeah,

(39:52):
No, I'm sort of have tobe hit if I'm planning out a
round, like make sure there's plentyof you know, stops if you need
to you have a sit down orsomething like that. Yeah, he says
that. He says that the battery'sthere. We're gonna have to wait a
couple of hours. Peggy says, pop the clutch. She pushes them out.
Apparently they're her car isn't automatic though, so this wouldn't work. Oh,
it doesn't matter. And the carwas in the driveway and all of

(40:13):
a sudden, when she's pushing it, they're in the street. Who cares,
let's see we can let that slide. Yeah, they're on their way
and they're playing license plates. Thiswould be an annoying game. Oh my
gosh. I was annoying to watchthem and be a part of. But
how awesome was the tag team ofboom Hower and Dale just mooning them?
They are a deadly duo. Givehim a little pressed ham. If I

(40:37):
was in the driver's lead, Idon't think i'd want even one of my
close friends. I don't mind abit of mooning, but if they're pressing
their bare butt up against my car, win, I'm like, we're gonna
be washing. There's a bit later, we are gonna be watching it.
Since hard it's on the inside aswell. But he says pressed ham,
but the window was down. Itcan't be it can't be doing Yeah,
no, the pressed ham is upagainst the window. Then you get a

(40:58):
little fruit salad in there as well. Yeah, this is where Hanks had
enough. So it says the twentyfour hour Oath of Silence, and he
gives them all the slim gyms, that's what white Man calls them. I
was like, it was so fancifto say, do you like those little
meat sticks twiggie sticks? Yeah,do they really do? They still sell

(41:20):
them? Well, I used tohave them the supermarket. I'd occasionally pick
one up. It's like, yeah, this all this will do on slim
gyms because the much All Man usedto promote slim gyms in the nineties.
Okay, yeah he was the slimgym man, but probably just terrible for
you. They're just as salty asall hell. And you know, yeah,
give it, give a cholesterol justby looking at him. Well,
the twiggie sticks that I used tosell on the Dalhi, we're basically just

(41:44):
salami in twig form. That's all. That's all it is. But then
we get your hanks. Heals inyou five times speaking and you're out.
Peggy, then withdraw some money andburns with a seat in the bin and
bales on the bin. Bernie,I was like, what are you doing?
Peggy? It sort of just makesyou realize, though, what is
she up to? She must bedoing some dangerous shit. I'm hungry,

(42:04):
no problem, huh. That wasa test, Joseph. Give mister Doughtreeve
a bite of your silent stick.Remember, kids, you never know when
you're gonna be tested. Now,who else is hungry? I am got
you, Bobby, Randy Garth, pass your silence sticks up. See,

(42:29):
kids, it's harder than you think. You don't want to end up like
Randy's dad. My dad's a successfulpatent lawyer. Not in the eyes of
woman Tanya, i'mber Dell hungry whowants the dollars? Ain't me me?
Well, these things you're addictive,I've got Yet. This does not seem

(42:52):
like a fun weekend for anybody. It seems like psychological boot camp. Oh
and that's what Joseph's trying to say. That says the probably later on he's
like, this isn't fun. It'slike they're just they're just trying to prove
how stupid we are. But then, of course Dale moons them again,
which I thought was just great. They arrive at John Wayne State Park,
as Hank refers to it, thegreat Outdoors. I'd missed. I missed

(43:13):
that it was called the John WayneState Park. Yeah. I loved the
greenies in this episode, though. They preserved the nesting areas for the Texas
Spotted Hour, the snail data, and of course the endangered whooping crane,
which a little sea planned here forthe later in an episode, and then
of course, but they're also youknow, they're looking out for one another.
You know, you better not takethe brown herbal ecstasy. No no,
but they've also eliminated three hundred loggingjobs, which they're very proud of

(43:34):
as well. There was like, yeah, did you notice the hairy armpit?
I did? Yeah, No bra, Harry Amp would it kill a
tree if she wore a bra?Flipping around the Peggy she's she can't get
any reception in the radio, justto sort of emphasize that she is in
the middle of nowhere. There wasnothing around, and she just settles on
a random station. Joseph says he'srealized it's all a trick. Bobby's still

(43:59):
there. He won't talk, youknow, he still he's buying Bobby Bobby
throughout the entire episode. He justwants to buy into this. Why do
you think he wants to buy intoit so much for? Do you think
it's he wants to make his dadproud? I think so, yeah.
I mean I think he's He clearlylooks up to his dad, and you
know, like I said, oneviews them as being on the same team,
So you know, he views himselfas the next link in the chain.

(44:20):
You know, this is a hillfamily tradition or an land sort of
community, not a whole land communitytradition, but certainly among their circle of
friends. Yeah, I mean youlook at your dad and his mates when
you're a childing cool. I mean, they look like they're having a great
time. They look like they've gotit all sort of sorted out. So

(44:42):
yeah, naturally you want to beyou want to be a part of that,
you want to carry on that tradition. He points to the dad said,
look, they're taking it seriously, and they're holding their beers up to
the sunset saying womantania or its laughingmaking fun of it. So he says
he's removing the oath of silence.Whilst the fire is burning, you can
speak, and they're like, oh, thank God, thank God. And
then he gives a really mocking spielthe prayer, isn't it He basically uses

(45:06):
lyrics and so what's gainst this paradise, quoting when I walked through the twenty
third town. Yes, yes,so I walk through the value of the
shadow of death or a weave becausethe Lord is with me. Yeah,
so he says, walk through thevalue shadow of death. Then he quotes
the Spirit in the Sky the songas well recommendation to the Spirit and the
Sky, and Peggy arrives at themotel, refers to a self as Senora

(45:28):
grassh Ibanezz and she's gonna be payingcash. And I for the first time
when I was watching his thought,is this gonna be like some sort of
drug dealer she gaves like some sortof side hustle to do a drugs Is
that gonna be like a thing thatlike a running gag throughout this series that
she's got a side hustle that's drugrelated that no one ever knows about.
I don't know. I get yeah, I think there's a sort of like
an ongoing thing. Well, itwas in The Simpsons, wasn't it that

(45:49):
they went to Canada to get tocheap medication? Yeah, Midnight RX.
That episode was yeah, yeah,And there's also been a similar thing about,
you know, going down to Mexicoto get cheap meds or whatever.
So I don't know, maybe that'ssomething that they were hinting at or whatever.
That's it was one possibility that wentthrough my head. I mean,
like I said, I initially thoughtshe just wants some damn times. She

(46:09):
wants a bit of rancho relaxo.Even if it's at a motel seven.
You know, you just yeah, you check in. Oh my god,
this whole room to myself. Oh, I can watch whatever I want on
TV. Oh it's got a bathtub. Look at the little bath soaps.
Yeah. Yeah, you're sleeping, eating and maybe building a little thought.

(46:30):
It's fantastic. Yeah. Now wewill say the oath of the Order of
the Straight Arrow, A straight arrow, tell the truth nation, a straight
roa importation of South American propane.I love that he always wanted to be

(46:55):
involved in propane, though I've forgotto mention that the kid it was to
be a propane sales Yeah, baby, ain't. It was so awesome.
It's now time for the snipe hunt, and Bill gives them their whoopass sticks.
This, here's your whoop a stick. But it gives that though the
assumption that they're not actually gonna bewhopping anyone's ass because the snipe is not

(47:16):
real. It is his fault, but it's kind of like not. But
anyway, he'd put a weapon ina child's hand. So Bobby then ends
up killing one of five whooping cranesleft in the world and Bill just thankful
that the opportunity to see one.But what I liked about it though,
was when they left them, likeHank sort of chucks to himself, we'll
go back a game in an hour, Like he's having fun, but he

(47:36):
can't see that what he's doing it'sessentially wrong like that, do you think
it's wrong what they're doing? It'sharmless, but it's just like, I
don't know, it's pointless as well. You don't see a whole lot of
I mean, one would assume thisis a bonding exercise unless it's just,
you know, like I said before, a perpetuation of the abuse. You
know, it's like, no,this was good for us, and they

(47:57):
don't seem necessarily to be good memoriesthat the that Hank and his friends have.
It's more like just memories. Butover time you sort of reshape it
into remember when we were kids andwe did this, and you know,
you sort of almost convince yourself thatyou had fun even if you didn't really
he's like, oh, those arethe best years of my lad Not really,

(48:19):
so you know they're thinking, well, it's it's only right that our
kids get to experience the same thingyou know now whether it I mean,
whether they're doing that from a placeof love or a deep seated kind of
like, well I suffered, kid, Now it's your what's funny because I
don't asked for the first time today, can his friend have a sleepover?

(48:42):
I'm just like, mate, youfour, it's not going to be happening,
but I'm excited for the first timewhen you run a leap. Yeah,
I'm excited for the first time heactually does have a couple of mates
over, because remember how exciting itwas when you had a sleepover. But
my parents always just like you know, white my mum, my mum and
dad. You know, they're veryleaning. They'll let us sucking around of
things like that. But I'm lookingforward to just I'm looking forward to get
to that mode where I actually say, right, kids, shut the fuck

(49:05):
up. I'm like, I'm officiallymy dad. I like the idea,
don't get me the cool dad,and that lets some stab or not play
video games. But I get tolike two am, and I was like,
kids, shut the fuck up.I mean, I've got a very
very fond memory of well, Iforget how old I must have been.
It must have been about seven orsomething I think six seven or eight,
like the time when you first starthaving proper sleep overs. I reckon,

(49:25):
yeah, yeah, going over tothe Smith's house. They had the I
mean they were big time car dealersin Geelong, had a very nice house,
had a lovely pool, this restaurantand that's that's Rextase. It's got
Smith and the Smith and Garrel.Maybe this was this was a while back.
One of their kye I think wason near the river. They were

(49:47):
a cracker factor in the trape Terrorist. That's a big wheeling. But you
know, I went over and Ithink I can't remember what we have a
denimen was really quite nice and itwas one of those special occasions in the
nineteen the seventies when either The Wizardof Oz or The Sound of Music was
on. And I think we've talkedabout this in the past. They're long
ass movies. Yeah, so theywould start them a little earlier, yes,

(50:08):
movies. Yeah, thirty seven yeah, yeah. This this is going
for like three hours, you know, probably three out three and a half
hours with ads and we got tostab and watch the whole thing. I
was like, I mean, anunfamiliar couch. This is a different TV.
This movie is pretty good. It'sa bit, a bit of a
big deal up later on a Fridaynight and a strange some snacks rand it.

(50:32):
So whenever you watched the movie nowyou think of that moment. Yeah,
absolutely, ET is my favorite movie. Whenever I think of ET now,
I have this. I don't knowhow I remember this, but I
remember I was at my name,Marline's places now past but having a bath
or her place, and I'll neverforget being in the bath and her screaming
Brandon. ET's just started, andI fucking raced out. I remember four
out of the bath. I fellinto the four slits of my ask because

(50:52):
I was raced out of the bedthat fast. I ran into the landroom,
buck naked, you know, justnothing where, nothing on at all.
And I got about two instance themovie and I screamed my ars off
and hid behind the chain and turnit off. I was so excited to
watch ET, and then I gotso scared. But I always remember just
jumping out of the bath and slippingon my ars. Remember I watch ET
now at the start of the movie, I mean just visiting him, a
little three year old dand I justslipping on his ass and NaN's bathroom and

(51:13):
bean to me. But so thisis where Bobby has killed the crane and
the way and Dale is blaming them. He's like, he's trying to distance
himself. I had nothing to dowith this. He tries to leave and
Bill asked for his keys. Bobbythen thinks it was the woman Tania who
turned the snipe into a whooping crane. Why did you think it did that

(51:35):
again so the slot wouldn't kill him. Joseph's just like, no, your
dad lied, buddy, This isall bullshit, and Bobby says, like
we were saying earlier, he believeshis dad. Why would his dad lie
to him? He trusts his dad. Um, you know, he speaks
on the honor. They cust him. We'll just ditch the carcass by the
inn estate and the way home, and Dale says, you know, yeah,
we'll get some sleep. We'll orgo go to sleep now, and

(51:58):
Bill says, give us your pantsall. He tells Bill to get his
pants and shoes. The next morning, the Forest Services ranger has arrived to
look for the whooping crane because theyhad it a little tag on it,
and he's attracted to this very site. Hank sits on the caller because I
think the bird is still in there. Sir, do you know anything about
Thills? Yeah? May I tellyou what one him nipones last night man
with him stick the bag and whackwhack. Man if he'd go whoooo talking

(52:21):
about the big mistake y'all right therein that cooler. Well, if you
do see anything, you can contactthe ranger. Station people just explains it,
but no one can understand what he'ssaying, tells him where it is.
And the look on Hank's face whenhe realizes, oh shit, he's

(52:42):
explaining but the kids, the kidscan't talk to him because it's part of
the order of the Shred Arrow, and the ranger goes along with it.
Yep, so I did that aswell. I completely understand that that comes
above the law. You know, ordered the shred Arrow can't ask you any
questions. Dale runs out and hisundees and the ranger says, nothing's changed.
And so I was a boy, that's what we used to do,
like a frat party. Yeah, real sort of a coming of age thing

(53:04):
as well. Yeah, Bobby isnow holding the bird and chanting, and
the hippie sees him doing this. We're going to refer to as the hippie.
That's what Hank calls that, thisis called the hippie. She doesn't
get a name, does she.No, no, no, just just
a very free and easy young lady. So she goes to tell the ranger.
Meanwhile, Peggy has arrived at Lubbock'sVery Big Shoes Fashion for the large
footed lady. And even he doesn'tknow her real name, he refers to

(53:28):
as Grass. It's incredible how secretiveshe feels he has to be about it.
Yeah. I love the length thatshe's gone to though, to ensure
that no one in her community everfinds out, because the word spreads in
Ireland, right, So she's goingfar away as possible to make sure no
motherfucker knows that she's got big feetnow, even later when she's got the
shoes. But we'll talk about thatwhen it happens. But you know,
she chisels some of the some ofthe size details of the thing is though

(53:51):
that surely everyone can just see herfeet right with the shoes. Yeah,
anyway, but yeah, so shegot size sixteen Tripoli. He's got an
Italian again. It that she's gonnalove. It's noticed in the mirror.
I like this little touch where itsays objects mirror are bigger than they appear.
So it's just like, I knowthat's what you just says, but
it's just like to emphasize that whenthey put the shoes on in the mirror,

(54:12):
they do look quite small as opposedto fact that they're actually bigger.
And he tells Chuck and Buzz tocarry the box to the car for her
chucking. And then we get theother hippie reporting the snipe incident, and
Bobby's hanging in out the windows. They're driving out. They're trying to give
it one last flight and they're tryingto bury the bird. Now they've had
enough. It's like, we're justgonna get rid of this body now.
And the hippie see them and theystep on some eggs on the way through

(54:34):
to trying to stop them killing thekilling the nature on the way and they
kick the hacky sacks and throw theirfrisbees. I love you. I mean,
the show seems to have a healthycontempt is not quite the right word,
but you know, it's sort ofit's willing to poke funder just about
everybody and take the Simpson's approach. If they mock everybody. Yeah, yes,
yeah. They pull over by theculvert to dump the body, the

(54:58):
body of the bird, and theytry to stuff it in a pie.
Bobby then releases its spirit. GoodJesus Christ, kid, it's all nonsense,
like he comes Clean's like, thisis all ridiculous. Don't just stop
it now. We're gonna get ridof this birds that we ain't get in
trouble. Dale pretends that he nevermet him, and Bobby, he's really
disappointed by this. You can't believeit, Like, oh, wait,
Jesseph was right, you would alignedhim this whole time. And Hank tries
to explain it. It's a partof the experience, you know. So

(55:21):
everything you said was all a lie. Yes, that's the secret of the
snipe hunt. That's the whole point. Oh, I get it, I
guess, Bobby. I didn't meanto let you down. I just when
Dale and Bill and Boom Howard andme went through this as kids, all
the tricks and lies from our dads, they were part of the experience.

(55:45):
It brought us all together, youknow, us against them. I don't
want to be against you. You'remy dad. We're supposed to be on
the same team. Of course we'reon the same team, you and me.
It's a really nice moment, there, wasn't it. It really was.
I mean, we've given Pamela Adlina bit of a bit of credit

(56:07):
on this show, on the episodeswe've covered of King Hills, but I
don't think I don't think it canbe short changed. How good a job
she does bringing life to Bobby.I think it's I think it's really really
wonderful work. Unfortunately for them, the hippie points them out. The rajor
goes down there and he says he'sgonna be taking him to the station.

(56:30):
But luckily for them, the cranewakes up, flies away, and Bobby
thinks it was all Mosaigne. Yeah, oh my god, it's true.
This was all it was all thelast test. This is It's all actually
real, isn't it. Bobby? The berber is just unconscious. No,
no, no, oh man,my head hurts. And that's the end
of the episode. Well, notquiet, because we've still got a little

(56:50):
bit. Yes, of course, yes you have the memory of Victor Aaron.
But then we get the credits Peggyscraping off the one from the Size
sixteen and Hank walking catching her offguard. This family goes through more on
microwaves, or goes through microwaves fasterthan it goes through shoes. I love
that the shoes are so big. They're coming to a microwave stole balls.
Yes, these two hank Is easilyduped in their regard. Yeah, so
yeah, I think the more youtalk about this episode, as I was

(57:13):
saying, I think if you've doneboy scats and things like that, you
appreciate it more. But didn't haveas many laugh out loud moments, but
it was definitely a very Key ofthe Hill esque kind of vibe to it,
and it was still a really enjoyableI love the way. I think
they really needed that moment at theend with Bobby and Hank. I think
for me that's sort of absolutely thatsort of settled up for me. It
was like, yeah, this,no, this was worth it in the
end, this whole thing, becausetowards the end, I was just like,

(57:34):
it just fun. It feels likeit's just for nothing really, But
then we got that moment at theend, I was like, Okay,
so I sort of see what they'regoing for here. Yes, yeah,
I mean I don't think King ofthe hill based on what I've seen,
So it's not really a knee slapperkind of a comedy. It's more kind
of a you're right, yeah,that's that's that's just like me, that's
how I think. Yeah. Butit's also the kind of humor that just
kind of sticks with you a littlebit, you know. I mean sometimes

(57:57):
a laugh is just like releasing yeah, yeah, great the next lave.
The jokes in this or the situationsand this, they can't just linger with
you a little bit, stick around, and you know, they either keep
you smiling or you know, I'llgive you a little warm glow inside,
like with the resolution of the Hankand Bobby thing here. It's part of
the show's success that it's it's notnecessarily trying to battery you over the head

(58:19):
with like here's a gag, here'sanother one, but boom, another gag.
It's wine. This is just youknow, life in Ireland, Texas,
and you know, occasionally it's abit of a certain kind of funny.
It's it's bets and buttered for themature viewer. For the mature viewer,
that's correct. Bills, bills, bills, Why do we keep getting

I'm a huge fan of King ofthe Hill and I'm so glad that
you are doing a podcast about it. I used to add in a fan
page on Facebook with over fifty thousandfollowers, but then it got shut down.

This next one comes from Liam Bullick, and Liam Bullick says, Hi,
guys, love the new show.King of the Hill was one of my
favorite shows growing up, and Irewatched it a year or so ago and
loved it even more. You mayhave noticed that at the end of the
end credits they always repeat one ofthe funnier lines from the episode as a

(01:00:07):
final gag. No, they don't, because I read this email and went
back and listened on Disney Plus andthey do not do that. So whether
Disney, whether syndication they changed that, I'm not too sure. But on
Disney Plus here in Australia, theend of this episode, in particular,
they did not have any final linesat the end of the credits. It
was just the twentieth century Fox.But he says on his second rewatch,

(01:00:29):
he made the effort to stick arounduntil the very end to hear the SoundBite,
and even tried to guess what itwould be during each episode. Perhaps
you guys could try to pick itout. What you think it will be.
The funniest line of the episode usedat the end of the credits.
Keep up the good work, Liam, upon living in Spain. There you
go. Oh goodness, it's certainlysomething we will take under investment. Yeah.
I wonder if they maybe it wasjust from season two on. Wasn't

(01:00:50):
not too sure, but I promiseyou Liam, I checked and it was
not at the end of this episodeon Disney Plus here in Australia. Anyway,
all right, we'll do one morehere. This one is from This
is for Food, Stuff and Junk. I guess that's a blog. I'm
not too sure, but it sayshere listening to your square Peg episode,
I'm ashamed to admit that I oncerecorded Peggy shouting of vagina and set it

(01:01:12):
as my text tone, so wheneverI got a text and his awkward sex
ed story was They once watched thevideo where tried to make it fun and
had the title of just around thecorner and I even had a song about
it and they can and he sentme to the YouTube link for the song
as well, so he said, thanks for what you do. So somebody
actually the link for We're just aroundthe Corner for sex said maybe I'm just

(01:01:34):
a pervert that I'm reading something differentinto that. Yeah, I saw,
am I indeed? But thank youfor the message. Keep the Hillmailbag at
