After some time away, I’m sharing a short 5-minute episode about what’s been directly impacting my life. This is me reclaiming my voice, standing in my power, and inviting other women to do the same. I also open up about why I stepped away from the podcast for a bit — and why I couldn’t stay quiet any longer.
This isn’t about shame. It’s about strength. It’s about choosing to celebrate life and treating my energy like the expensive luxury it is (thank you, Taylor Swift, for that perfect reminder). 💜
Enjoy. ✨

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Spirit Journey Collective. I'm your host, Sarah Tai.
Get ready for compelling conversations with guests of all walks
of life who believe they have found their purpose. Together,
we will uncover unique backstories, hearing the raw experiences that
led them to the work they're doing today. Let's expand
our minds together with the captive being stories and inspiration

(00:22):
that awaits. Hey everyone, it's been a minute since you've
heard from me, and today I want to sit down
and just be completely real. Life handed me something unexpected
and it's time to talk about it. Because I don't
believe in disappearing into silence when things get messy. I

(00:42):
believe in reclaiming the narrative, and that's what I'm going
to do here today. So here it is. I'm pregnant
and the partner I was with for almost two years,
the man I thought would be standing by me, he
isn't because he chose not to. I want to pause
here because even saying those words, there's the old familiar

(01:07):
voice inside that whispers, aren't you embarrassed? Aren't you ashamed?
And you know what, that's the voice that I'm here
to silence today because why should I be ashamed for
his choice? Why would any woman hide herself for something
she didn't create herself. I didn't get myself pregnant. I

(01:31):
didn't abandon me. He did. And yet society is so
quick to hand the scarlet letter to the woman, while
men get to walk away with barely scratched to their reputation.
And that's the bullshit that I'm done subscribing to. This
wasn't some random fling. We were together for almost two years.

(01:52):
We built trust, made plans, lived together, and when this
happened a while completely unex suspected, I believe it was
something that we could walk through together. But when push
came to shove, his decision was clear. He didn't want this,
and suddenly I was left with the burden not just

(02:13):
carrying a child, but carrying the weight of his rejection
as well. And let me tell you that can mess
with your head. It makes you want to hide, It
makes you feel like you have to explain, to justify,
to apologize. It makes you wonder if people will judge you,

(02:33):
whisper about you, label you as naive or careless. And
that's what shame does. It isolates, and it whispers lies
and here's the bigger picture. Why is it always women
who carry that shame? Why are we the ones left
defending our choices? Our bodies are worth? When men get
to vanish into the background and nobody questions their character,

(02:58):
it's the same tired pattern. A relationship falls apart and
she gets asked, what did you do wrong? When a
pregnancy happens unexpectedly, she gets the side eye while he
gets a pass. When a woman chooses to keep the
baby anyway, she's often seen as reckless instead of resilient.

(03:19):
And I'm calling the bullshit because none of that shame
belongs to me. None of it belongs to any of us.
It's society's projection, not our truth. So here's what I'm
doing instead. I'm refusing to hide. I'm not broken, I'm
not dirty, I'm not a cautionary tale. I'm a woman

(03:42):
who's still evolving, still creating, still showing up for myself,
my nine year old daughter, even in the face of abandonment.
And if you're listening and you've ever been in a
version of this story, whether it was a breakup, a pregnancy,
of rejection, or situation where someone walked away, I hope

(04:03):
you hear this. You don't have to shrink, You don't
have to take on the shame that society tries to
hand you, because that shame was never yours to begin with.
So yeah, I've been gone from the podcast a little while,
but I'm back. I'm not hiding, I'm not apologizing. I'm

(04:24):
not letting anyone else's choices define me. This podcast has
always been about the spirit journey, talking to many people
of all walks of life, and it's all about finding
your way through the mess of life with clarity, with courage,
with truth. And right now, this is my truth. This

(04:46):
is my journey. So thank you for being here, for
walking with me, for letting me share this part of
my story, and I'll keep saying it until it sticks
for me, for you, for all of us. We are
not our circumstances. We are not our shame. We are

(05:06):
our choices, and I choose me. Let's keep going and
continue this journey together. Thank you for joining me on
another inspiring episode. Remember your purpose is a unique and
unfolding path. I hope these conversations have ignited a spark
within you. Until next time, keep exploring, growing, and embracing

(05:29):
the beautiful adventure of connecting with your purpose. Stay tuned
for more meaningful conversations. If you enjoyed the episode today,
