>> Corinne (00:00):
Let's go. Are we doing this? Are we doing this?

>> Sarah (00:03):
We're really doing this. O it, this is happening.
Finally.

>> Corinne (00:07):
Here we go.

>> Sarah (00:31):
All this time after three years of
working on a book that was set to publish.

>> Corinne (00:37):
So much momentum behind it, so much excitement for
the work that was coming out. And then all of a sudden it
disappeared. And then we juste.

>> Sarah (00:45):
We went dark. Yeah.

>> Corinne (00:47):
Yeah. Tell anybody why?

>> Sarah (00:49):
It's very tailor of us. It's probably the most like Taylor
Swift I've ever felt in my whole life.

>> Corinne (00:54):
Yeah.

>> Sarah (00:54):
Just disappear. Go dark. We changed our
profile pictures black and white.
There's a whole thing people,

>> Corinne (01:02):
Yeah. Asking where we were, if we're okay.

>> Sarah (01:05):
Yeah. And you know what the answer is? For a little while,
we were not okay.

>> Corinne (01:09):
Yeah. It's true.

>> Sarah (01:10):
Things did happen. Something did happen. And yeah,
it is part of what we're going to talk about going Plots,
plots.

>> Corinne (01:16):
Plots were twisted, developments occurred.
The story that we thought was done and dusted and we were
ready to publish, that story
kept going. And part of what we're
doing here is we get to share about all of
it.

>> Sarah (01:31):
We finally have a way to share our story,
to tell about what happened
and what's been happening in the
form.

>> Corinne (01:40):
Of, in this little podcast, Spiritual Pyro.
Yes.

>> Sarah (01:45):
Welcome. I'm Sarah.

>> Corinne (01:47):
And I'm Karene. We're starting a
podcast, Spiritual Pyro. It'sn to drop
the initial episode on April
27th and I mean, honestly,
it's going to start out a little heavy. So
I wonder if people will get through the first episode, if
they'll make it to episode number two. What do you think?

>> Sarah (02:07):
Oh my gosh. I feel like if they do, they should get a trophy
or somethinghies. Yeah. Like a metal.
Like you are heroes. Because it is heavy
and yet so
important. Yeah, so important. It's not the
end of our story, but it is where we start.
And we want to bring you along for the whole ride.

>> Corinne (02:26):
Yeah. It's the bones. It's the framework
for the rest of the story, which is where it gets
good. So I think what I love so much is that, yeah, the first
couple episodes are a little heavy, but then we get to have
some fun and we get to talk about
a lot of things. Some of it has been shared before,
but a lot of it has not. A lot of it we're sharing

(02:46):
for the very first time and that feels fun.

>> Sarah (02:49):
Yeah. So Spiritual Pyro, the first episode, you
can expect to hear a bit of our backstory about the
Fallout that we experienced both in our own lived
experiences, separate parts of the whole world.
for myself, it was one of the biggest megach churches in the
United States. And for KN it was at an
international anti trafficking nonprofit.

>> Corinne (03:08):
Yep. And each episode o. I just
love because each episode weaves our friendship through it
all, through the absolute ruin
which, you know, even just recording these
episodes, taking us back to those moments has been a
wild ride. But then
we get to talk about the healing and the unraveling

(03:28):
of our faith systems, the reckoning
there and then the rebuilding of our lives, which
m. It's just been such a beautiful arc.
And I love that we're going to get to share it here in a way
that's so conversational and fun.

>> Sarah (03:43):
It's so true. A big heartbeat of this podcast
is refusing the narratives of shame
that have been designed to keep us silent, not only
for us individually, but also for others.
That it would potentially be like a form of collective
liberation. That it would be about being able to own your story
and own your voice and tell the truth about your lives.

(04:04):
Even as you're listening to us talk about ways we've tried to do
that and we've done that, you know, imperfectly. We've
done that in a messy way. It's not like we've got all
the answers. But we are here to tell the truth. We're here to tell the
truth about our lives, about our own stories.

>> Corinne (04:17):
Yeah. And it's also about the cost of
courage. And anyone who has
ever had to stand up to
anything, speak up for anything, come
alongside anyone who is doing that
brave work, they understand the cost of
courage. And yet, you know,

(04:37):
the question that we always have to answer is, what's the
alternative? What do we need to sleep at night?
And so that cost of courage comes with the hope of
healing. And thats the better part of the story.

>> Sarah (04:48):
Yeah. Yeah. And I want to be really clear about why
were choosing to share our stories, because I think thats really
important to talk about. What's our
intention and our hope and our desire here. and really like what
spiritual pyro is, is just as important as being really
clear about what it's not. and the goal of our
podcast is not to destroy. We're not
out to get anyone. We're not out to take anyone down.

(05:10):
We're not creating this from a place of bitterness or
rage or vindiction.

>> Corinne (05:15):
So sharing our stories is not about an inability
to move on or about living in the
past. Sharing our stories is
this wild act of solidarity and
this deeply held belief that we each have the right to own
our own story. No one can take that from us.
Daring to share the stories is a part of our

(05:35):
slow journey back to ourselves. It's
about building something new.

>> Sarah (05:40):
Okay, so we're doing this. We'd love for you to come along with
us. Yep, we are creating a space to tell
our stories and make room for others.

>> Corinne (05:47):
We're excited that you're with us. We hope you'll get past
episode one, baby, because it's going toa be a fun ride.
That's what I want to listen to. Episode one will be out on April
27th. We hope you'll join us. Come pull up a seat around
the fire. Bring your matches.
