Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, fundamentals and techniques, that's the key, right sixty minutes,
right sixty minute. Thanks for the al Central I gat
(00:27):
the Guardians a plus. They lost four one to the
Yankees ALCS. They looked like a mid level team to
start the season. They were more so sellers trying to
trade veteran pitcher Shane Beaver, but they decided to hold
on to him. It was like a good move because
they have a solid young pitchers there, but he ended
up getting hurt before the season. But luckily they picked
(00:47):
up Matthew Boy from the Tigers and he turned out
to be the batterman and yeah, I'm a pretty good season.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, So the.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Young pitchers all showed up, played well. They had one
of the best young clothes in the game in the
Manuel classe. Surprisingly so on the trade block as well,
but they decided to keep him. Turned out to be
a good move. They still led by short stop Ramirez.
You know, you're a small guy. Nothing that he can't
do out there. Very underrated player always belongs to the
(01:15):
MVP conversation, never MVPX seed and by him you had
the Nailer brothers with more so Josh Naylor with solid season.
He was overbied and started the season and then you
know South with a little bit of injury, but came back.
They continued to play well. His brother both was hit
a mess but solid fine and catchup deal some wrong
(01:36):
for him there. I outfield is steam Quan had a
solid season getting on base, showed a little power, definitely
more a on base guy. Solid season by him. Some
of the Andreds and Minnies at second base, I mean,
they was just more of a team that just got
on base. But a few powerheaders like Ramirez, and he
had a guy like David Frown who stepped up in
DA to first base hitting some home runs for.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Him, saying are hitting home runs both of them.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Find a young Dominican player in Chickinski know Whatell He
turned out to play well for them on into this postseason.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Solid find there especially providing some power.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
But the smartest move, like I said, I think the
Philly should have done it trade off of the Lange
Thomas from the Nationals, who was a big playoff on
into the postseason. Solid player, we get on base, secret
power to his game, most players don't expect it. But
anyway in the lineup, anyway in the outfield, anyway. The
line up as first like hitting first, second, third to
you don't mind him as your league off think Thomas
(02:35):
Burn productive this lineup for players to get on base,
providing some super power too. Solid productive season by a
young Guardians team really unexpected, expecting to be more of
a A level team that just ran away with the
Al Central If I said, eight plus season by them.
I was lucky to see them live in person in
Cleveland fans. You know you all good fans there even
(02:57):
show love for the Oreos. Good season by them. I
shut by support and they showed me love when I
was there next to the Royals, me and my a.
They lost three to one to the Yankees and Alds.
A solid season by Bobby with Jr. Mentioned the Oriels post.
He really took this team where they need to be.
They had limited bats. I don't know why he got
(03:18):
pitching to him until the end of the season, but
some teams started a smart up. But this is a
solid player that can do it all. The real growth
of this team came from picking up pitching. Like I said,
it was always hard to find, but he stole two
pitchers from the Paul dres except Lugo and Michael Walker.
Both played well, played that they had their own Cole
Reagan's looking like I said, young candidate early in the
(03:41):
season before slowing down a little bit. Solid season by him.
Then they also had Brady Singer who played well. I
mean he couldn't really get to win all the time
without the production at bat he kept alive already love
and as far as the bats outside of Bobby with
veteran Salvador for solid in DH in first base when needed,
(04:03):
first basement, Bennie Patch Contino. He was solid when he
did play other big guy first base smacker home runs,
but they have some injuries. More towards the middle of
the season and early in the season we slowed his production.
But they really needed him, and he showed up. Lake Boom,
Mpel guard Seas started out hot, playing get on base.
(04:24):
He even hit a few home runs. I said, they
messed him up throwing them at their leadoff spot. They
slowed them down. You know, he kind of played a
little average after that. Going forward, they needed all this production.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
MJ.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Melendez is a player who he never really seen to
get on base, and he can play catcher and in
the outfield, but his power really showed up late in
the season when they needed it. Even though his own
base sent it wasn't really there. He really didn't have
anyone else to allow on so they needed the power
veteran bad Hunter Refro.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
He played pretty well. I said.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
He saw other injuries as well, but he provided some power.
Get him trading shortstop Paul de Young who provided some
power late in the season which was much needed in
the white side sow them for low He was just
a wrestle for them, but he showed solid production with
them as well.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
So solid season by the Royals.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
A lot of growth pitcher staff, lot of group by
the leader now Bobby with where he paid already to
be around for a long time, so they have a
lot of direction now around Bobby. With keeping the pitching
staff mostly intact. They were able to take out the
Orioles and fight hard for the Yankees. I just need
Passed Contino to stay healthy. But definitely looked like a
(05:35):
good team going forward. Next for the Tigers, gave a
They lost three two to the Guardians. Alds Tigers was
another team that nobody really expected much out of. I mean,
he did have potential, but I said they didn't really
spend much money in the off season just picking up
pitcher Kent at Maia.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
It was okay, veteran bat canner.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
You know, he's a decent player, brings more defense offense
of production. Now he either did what they expected when
he gave him a lot of pennings, even though you
know he did have a pretty high we already was
expected if Mark and I actually started hot for Detroit
before cooling off, So I thought they should have sold high,
you know, instead of waiting to trade him late in
(06:18):
the season when he cooled off. They were lived by
AlSi young winner Trek School, but had a very good season,
very hard to hit despite being lefty, and I thought
they had a nice one two punch School and Jack
Flaherty who was coming off the off season with the
Orioles but came in pitching very solid for Detroit. But
(06:39):
they decided to trade them off low to the Dodgers.
Was helped lead to their championship, so it never really
made sense for moving off. They would have gave him
a nice one two punch Clarity is still fairly young.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
I guess they go right it out with School, but.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Surprisingly did get nice production, you know, going into the
post and out of their pitching staff. Out of Reese
Olsen and then case he Lives played that they really
wanted to see grow. They both had really solid production,
especially prest Olsen. I say solid production want into the postseason.
Out of the pitching staff, it's a nice like B
plus production would be very unexpected, maybe higher, especially with
(07:15):
high school ball.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
This was unheedible.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
But the bats, I said during the you know, before
the season they started players. Riley Green, he lived up
to the hype and he did have some injuries, but
solid season by Riley Green. Whole outfield played well, Got
Parking metto's Karrie Corbin, to both of them who took
the next step and they stut for injuries, but not
out too long.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
It's a long MLB.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Season, so solid season by both of them, especially into
the postseason. Riley Breen Matt ver Lane when he took
a chance from I mean he played pretty well as
a backup player for the Phillies, but getting the real
time with the Tigers when he took off this season.
He has to able to play outfield and second base
and third base, but he played more in the infield
at third base without being so loaded, giving them even
(08:01):
more solid production. That's a total center who I thought
would take the next step. Started out cold at the
end of giving him another chance, where he turned out
be very going to the postseason boring. It's the power
that they needed as well, solid power, but I said,
I just need to up that bad beverage. They found
a solid second young Bason and Cole Keith and get
(08:22):
on base as well. There's not much power to him,
but they invested in them before the season. A smart
move there. Definitely see the growth for some reasons. Short
stop how is I just can't hit anymore. But I
can't say he just can't hit anymore, but just can't
hit consistently anymore.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Bat average is horrible. He showed some power point but
not enough to keep you around.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
This might be the end of his days. How he's
playing solid season by the Tigers. Looking forward to seeing
a lot of growth out of this young team, and
definitely surprised a lot of people on a low market spending.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Very level going against the grain. So I just wanted
to move Jack Flaherty, but I didn't fact into my
grade at all.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I'm gonna give it an eight next for the Twins
heat my C minus it was a team that looked
like locks for the wild card all season or maybe
even pushing the Guardians for the Central and instead ended
up four games out of the wild card. I mean
they had solid big three, a pitcher Pablo Lopez, Joe
Ryan barely over leading away Pablo Lopez, the ace playing
(09:24):
pretty well even though he did have some injuries, and
they even loaded that back even with the death. So
that's what was surprising that they couldn't keep it going.
They start shortstop call those career. They got hurt during
the season, they still got solid production played that they
wanted to be more of their franchise player now and
Royce Lewis or young franchise I should say his career
(09:48):
more the franchise at this point, but they wanted Royce
Lewis to really get a name. He got hurt early
in the season. Despite your your power. He came out
with good production, but his power laid off or towards
the end of the sea with the injuries. I got
Max Kepler in the outfield here the solid season, but
separ injuries.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
As usual, he had a high street when they needed
as well.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
They always depend on Byron Buxton and the outfield solid
player can do everything, solid all around player.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
He wasn't as.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Injured as he was in most seasons. You know, the
injuries still don't help if they needed production all year,
but solid production out of Byron Buxton. Now I said
they had good death all year despite the injuries. And
Matt Wallner, Trevor launch and outfield, both of them power
lefties you had like Willie Castro califall Man had moved
down here, but he has versatility. Alice Krilloff play first
(10:40):
based on outfield, double Leftick Austin Martin field and pretty
well second base on outfield. So a lot of versatility
doesn't keep it the sister Thomas Carlos Santana.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
At first base had a solid season. Then they catch up.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Duo Ryan Jefferson Christian Vasquez provide a lot of power,
especially with Brian's ever had a nice high streak early
in the season before pooling off, say with a big three,
a lot of bats. Surprised they didn't put it off
to just watch the wild calls. Spot fall off more
towards late the season. They had a strong purpoint earlier
to bed season, say more of a B plus start.
(11:17):
Sea finished getting the C minus. They didn't really make
any move. It seemed like they had enough. Death Rad
came back from injury, Lewrens came back from injury, pitching
staff got healthy, just not in that consistency. Probably could
use another picture. I don't know why they didn't move
off some of those bats next for the White side game.
F I mean, they started the season looking like, you know,
(11:39):
they had a good picture staff, They had Dylan Cees,
they had picked up Eric Fatty surprisingly in free agent
that wanted to go to him. It looked like they
had a solid outfield and Luise Robert Lloyder Mines and
Andrew ben attended. But the plan was to move off
of you know him, Mines and Roberts sell at the
highest to get a lot of prospects they need.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
They decided to go to another season.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
You on Mancata at third base despite the ability to
stay healthy, and of course he didn't stay healthy. They
decided to trade Della Cease for the low despite saying
early in the season that they would keep him. I mean,
he would have been a solid eight going forward, especially
after Lucas gi Alito fell off last year, but they
trade him to the Padres decided to go with Eric
(12:24):
Fetti and Gary crochees they wanted too. Gary Groche has
never really started before, was surprising. They got a solid
season out of Garrit Crochet. Eric Fetti came back playing
well coming back from Korea. First season back. For some reason,
they decided not to trade Gart Brochet and they decided
to trade Eric Fetty Cardinals despite being on a good
(12:45):
two year deal. So now they don't have Seats and Fetty,
which leaves them with just Garth Brochet his first season
as a starter, so now they want to shut him
down as supposed to trade down at its highest point,
which didn't work out. Then Luis Robert had a down season,
but they still asked for a high price on him.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Didn't really have many takers on him.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Loyd Jimenez had an injury field season another damn year,
so they couldn't really sell high on him. Ended up
cutting him and he went to the Oreos. Ben in
Tandego they paid for wasn't able to stay healthy as well,
and despite being on base, guy wasn't able to get
on base, but he did pick up his production later
in the season, but still wasn't enough price that they
(13:26):
paid them for the whole outfield fell apart.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
There the players that they depended on.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Before when they were young, Gavin Sheets and Andrew Vaughan
both showed some production when needed.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
She's more of the death player, you know.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
He can play first base, outfield and DH, but they
had him more as a DH at times, silent left
handed power back, but just not enough production out of him.
Andrew Vaughan did get real hot at first base, being
one of the best players at the point, but still
not enough from him as well.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
But good to see their production anyway.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Mentioned during the Royals, they took a chance on veteran
Paul the young and shortstop, mostly playing the age he
came in. He had a lot of home runs for
him he sold them for the load for the Royals,
So we just expected that this year it would end
up with a lot of prospects that could help them
going forward.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
That turned out now to be the case.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
They didn't really get the protection expected, losing value on
all the players. Decided to stick it out with just Crochet,
which wasn't a smart move as they brought them back.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Holding them back later in the season. The production just
wasn't the.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Same, so as value dropped as well and yeah, that's
the team with no direction really going forward. Kind of
stopped in the same place with less players, less players,
the trade leading to the F grade. But hope you
enjoyed this, looking forward to give you more sports news
going forward. Thanks for tuning the Thanks for the support.
