Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, fundamentals and techniques.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
That's the key. Right sixty minutes, right sixty minutes next
(00:25):
to the NL West. They the Diamondbacks a B minors.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I liked how they started off signing Ace Corvin Burns,
kill him from the Orioles, give Hi him a six
year deal. I mean the deal was pretty high, that's
the market value. But they already had a good number
one and number two pitcher, so they add Corvin Burns
on the time gives them a soil of trio. They
traded for first basement Josh and Aler play that I
(00:51):
mentioned a lot during the season because how well he
was playing. But he's taking the place of Christian Walker,
who they lost his free agency and they resigned our
field of random rid Chuck to a one year deal.
He's more of a power outfielder where you don't want
them to play too much. That's when he kind of
get exposed. But if you need him to fill in,
you know, do the injury or even finch h it.
(01:14):
He's good in that role. The losses that they had
was of course Christian Walker that I mentioned at first
base when it's our first basement in the game, they
lost the h outfielder John Peterson. Peterson played pretty well
for them, had about seventeen home runs and he stole
a lot of bases, so solid production by him. They
lost and fielder Kevin Newman. He's another one of those
(01:36):
guys they he's get the fill in or in case
of injury, but we play them a little too much,
kind of get exposed. He's more of a home base
guy than the power guy. They lost first basement DH
Josh Bell. He's one of those guys that he hit
two home runs, you know, wouldn't even be crazy, but
at this point in his career, he's more of a
low to high one bad average at time. He gets
(02:00):
exposed a lot, but he's a player that you more
prefer as a death player at this point. And he
lost pitcher Paul Seawall more a closed reliever and he
played pretty well for them. And flaw as the X factor,
it's the same one as last year. Outfield of Goodland
Carl he's going well into his fourth season. I mean
it's twenty twenty two season doesn't really count, you know
(02:22):
when you get your told what MLB doesn't really count.
But this is third or fourth season. But they're looking
forward to step up, and he didn't do it last season.
He's a solid, young, twenty four year old left handed back,
you knows how to get on base, has a little
power to a game, and he's still bases. So looking
(02:44):
to see what he can do this season. He did
win and l work in the year twenty twenty three.
Next for the Dodger Game of eight plus, the Dolgiers
surprised everybody signing Blake Snell to a five year deal. Now,
you know he's known for having a side young and
al in the NL, but he just one of those
pictures that you're going to show up mostly during the
(03:05):
postseason when you need him. So that's why he's taking
flaarerty spot who didn't show up during the postseason but
showed up during the regular season for them what they
picked up the trade dead line. Then everybody wanted Japanese
picture brokeb Susaki, and the Dodgers jumped on him, signed
him to a nice six year.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Deal so they don't have him around for a while,
and then.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
While being so young, they were able to sign him
based to a minor elite deal. It's another smart money
moved by the Doge But just grabbing the top creagent.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
For the top move. That's why the A plus after
they came from here.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Then they resigned power outfielder Sayasko lenando Is who stepped
up big for them last season, so Night signed by
them last season.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Nice to keep him around.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
They resigned a long time picture Clayton Kershaw for a
one year deal. They didn't even really need him last season,
but he's got insurance to have around a.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Long time beat.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Then they signed another player that people were chasing in
Korean second basement. I see On Kim. He's a player
that can steal bass, another left handed back. He's about
twenty five or be about twenty six during the season,
plays good defense. So that's why they were able to
get rid of Gavin Lux traded him out of there
with too many second basement going on, you know, with
(04:18):
Mookie still in.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
The infield miss.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Then they signed relieve a Tannis Scott to a four
year deal, stealing him from the pad Dres.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
That was a big move there.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
And re signing reliever Blake Trenning played well for them
last season, and also signing reliever Kurby Yeats to a
one year deal, so they pretty loaded and the relief
pitching as well this season, and for outfield and bat insurance,
they signed Michael Fromforto to a one year deal, giving
them left handed bat insurance in the outfield. So that's
(04:48):
why Mookie can mostly staying in the nfield needed and
the only losses with pitcher Walker Buehler showed up big
in the postseason, not so much in the regular season
in the last few years.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Good job by them. Ain't on to them.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Then they lost pitcher Jaed Flaherty, so I said, showed
up during the regular season. They picked them up, they
trade their line struggled during the postseason and Gavin luck
so I mentioned they traded away after getting on Kim.
So it's a solid overall offason by them, say a plus,
loading up on pitching, mostly resigning the players that they
need to resign. For my X factor, I'm going with picture.
(05:23):
Blake Snell said they put them in basically for this postseason.
I know they do have blast now and Yo my Moto,
but if Blake Snell is Blake Snell, then they'd be
really tough to beat and looking at a repeat, Blake
Snell will show up. So that's why'ma put it all
on him. I mean, I know the bats are going
to show up, so I would put them on somebody
from the picture Blake Snell brought them to be that
(05:45):
guy next for the Johns CE. Plus I like the
signing William Donalds coming out of contract here. Brewers played
really well for them, so I'm sure the production they
looking for the Johnson looking for somebody just a litter
by the snop.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Spot to Brendon Grawford.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
But I thought Fitzgerald played pretty well, but they're looking
to move him to second base, so when Lea Donalds
will be that Shore stopped going forward with that big
seven year deal. They signed picture Justin Berlander, so one
year deal's looking to rebound. He has seen as a
chip on the shoulder this year and looking to prove
that he still has something left in the tank.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
So hopefully that's.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
The player that they can get because they do need
another and two pitchers behind Logan wab As they still
were looking forward to since last season. As far as losses,
they lost Blake Snell when he signed last season late,
but he did try to help him get in to
the postseason. Didn't work, even though he did play at
the top level. And he lost outfielders Michael Porto in Markcana.
(06:46):
Mark Canady picked up late, but he didn't play well
enough to kill him into the postseason. He was already
playing mid level when the Tigers let him go. In
him fourth to we played pretty well until the injuries
started to hit, as usual for him, but he just
the beats I mentioned for the Dodgers. Now, so for
my X factor, choosing Wally A Damas because they did
(07:06):
sign him to a seven year deal, and I know
the main point is they're gonna get these first three
to four big years out of them. Only twenty nine,
he should be in his prime. But hopefully they get
the one that the Brewers got last season. He should
help them try to get into the postseason. But I
think Adaminas Cancel let them by a short stop spot.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
But we'll see.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
That's why I got was my inx factor, especially for
the big deal next with the Padres, I gave.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Him a c. Their big move was signing Nick Poveda
to a four year deal. I mean, it starts off
pretty low, but then it goes up year of the year.
But I did think it was an overpay.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
EVE know, he did play pretty well for the Red
Sox last season, and he is a guy that can
go started or bullpen. But based on the injury that
just happened to you dollars is smart that they did
bring in another starter, at least more of a number
three number four guy. They'll probably even be number three now.
They re signed catcher the lot as he is. He
was a player the teams really wanted, but for some reason,
(08:03):
the Rockies just let him go as supposed to trade
him and the Paul Durys picked him up. But he
didn't play as well as expected, but with a full
fring training behind him, he should be a lot better.
Small but powerhad so that's more of what they need
from that position. They signed first basement outfielder Connor jail So.
He played pretty well for the Pirates before the injuries hit,
(08:24):
but he is from San Diego area, so he is
happy as more of a homecoming for him, but he'll
probably provide death more so replacing Dono Micellona. They signed
veteran outfielder Jason Haywood. He still has a little bit
left in the bat, but he can definitely provide veteran
leadership at this point and similar they signed you le
Garyelle to a minor league deal, but he didn't play
(08:46):
well last season, so carriage to see what he has left.
In the late move, they signed Jose Glaciers to a
minor legue deal and he should be able.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
To help in the infield.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
It's more of a second base, third basement guy who
can get on base to some power to his game.
We needed the guy you don't really want to overplay either.
And as far as losses, they lost believer Tanna Scott
to the Dodgers. Just mentioned outfield of Jerkson Profar. That
was a wild move because they just brought him back
again and they showed how much they need them, but
(09:15):
then they let him leave again, so it would have
been nice to hold on him in the outfield, not
the same one from the Dodgers, but the one that
went to the Tampa Bay Rays. They lost short stop
second basement hot On Kim. He got hurt more so
in moving the shortstop, but he is a solid player
over on base guy when he is healthy. They lost
catcher Kyle Higgashioka. He had a lot of home runs
(09:37):
for them last.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Year, so they missed that power.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
They lost pitching my team Perez, who they rented more
So from the Pirates late in this season at the
trade dead line. He's a solid more number three, number four,
but he moved on to the White Sox and they
lost first basement, third basement.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Donovan Solano a more of a deaf guy, but he
is a power back and he did play well for
them last season. As far as free agents, they still
have outfielder David Baralta.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
He's a veteran left handed back, move on base guy,
some power left to his game, so I'm not sure
if he'll be back or not. They kind of already
had that in Jackson Merrill and with Jason Hayward that
they resigned. As far as my expector, went with short stop,
second basements and the padres pic Xander to play a
big role at shortstop, grabbing him from the Red Sox,
(10:25):
which is an original position, but he didn't play well there,
so they ended up having to move him to second base,
and I see on Kim moved a short stop, but
then once Kim got hurt, Bogas had to move back
to short stop. But he played pretty well, so long
term deal that he has, I'm pretty sure they would
love him to play out well.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
At short stop.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
You know what, the long run, it is meant for
him to move off, maybe the third base for Manny Machado,
just because how long the dal is. So I'm gonna
put him as my expector just to see what Bogos
can bring. He hasn't been a player that they wanted
from the Red Sox can bring that type of production
or even just play shortstop well. With the production, he
has had to be a big step for them, so
(11:07):
I'm putting the pressure on him. But he is a
player I like, of course, coming from the Red Sox.
You know, he did leave, but while we let him leave,
thanks for the Rockies pave my f I did like
that they signed ketcher Jacob Stalins to a one year deal,
resigning him. We played pretty well end up taking Elias
did spot that I just mentioned to the Padres. He
(11:28):
was originally brought in to be more of a players
coach and death player, but he still had a lot
of power left, especially in the home run friendly park
like Colorado, so it was a good move bringing him back,
even though they will need death behind him. He signed
first basement, third basement Kyle Farmer for a one year deal.
He's more of a death guy because he suffers a
(11:49):
lot of injuries, but he'll feel a nice role for them,
get a lot more playing time here. Then they signed
second basement the Estrado from the Giants. He looking to
row his value after the down season and he was
one of their key players, but not really sure what
lambs to the down year last year.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
So they had a friendly park like Colorado. Like I mentioned, this.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Place where he could regrow his value and rejoin the
better team. It's only twenty nine as far as losses.
They lost. Pitcher Cal Quantrell that they signed last season
played pretty well.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
You know.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
I didn't expect much out of him, to see more
of a number four and number three type pitcher, but
he's a very head of friendly park. He actually played
well there, but he moved on after grow on his
value there. They left Brendan Rodgers second basement wall. He
played pretty well for them, but he's more of a
get on base guy than a power guy.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
But they decided lad walk.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
But the reason why I dropped him from a D
into a F was because they just traded outfield of
Noland Jones. But utility player Tyler Freeman from the Guardians
Nolan Jones was a player that was grown with them,
but they traded him for Freeman, who still has potential
as well. Still has a little bat and verage, but
they haven't been moving them around from position and position,
and they can't play second base, third base, and the outfield.
(13:07):
So that's why he moved into a utility role with
the Rockies. But I don't think they're the type of
team that can afford to do that, So that's why
I moved from a DAN to a f F grade,
mostly based on the move that just happened. And as
far as X factor, I went with first basement outfielder
Chris Bryant. He was a player that they relied on
last season, but he's suffer injuries, but they kind of
(13:28):
considered him and they had words big free agent move
getting him back just healthy, so they look at him
to do big things. I believe he's gonna move into
the outfield role that's vacated by Charlie Blackman, who just retired.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Another loss there, so I'm looking to see what Brian
could do.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
And he's been a big name that they brought in
a couple of years ago, but the injuries have been
here to mess with him, so we see what production
you can bring. But that is summer MLB off season
for me. Think for tuning in, appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
I was boy. Thank you again
