Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, fundamentals and techniques. That's the key. Right sixty minutes,
right sixty.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Minut Thanks for the NFC North. Let's start up with
(00:28):
the Lions. Gave the Lions to C plus. They started
with defensive tackle Kylee Williams out Ohio State. He's a
player that can also play defensive end from over d lineman.
Definitely a run stuffer. He does have short arms, but
he can't contribute in the past rush as well. They
(00:49):
consider him to be a do it all defensive tagle.
They didn't get fill a lot of roles, but I
think the plans for them to use them at defensive
end to stop the run on early downs and then
move them inside passing downs. But he gives them a
lot of versatility, and he's picked in a good reign.
He's supposed to go, you know, to the Eagles like
(01:11):
that last pick on the early first round, so they
caught him before anybody else can bounce on him. It's
okay with me. In the second rounding with Tape Ruthers,
guard out of Georgia. He's a guard that's considered plug
and play at this point. Even though he does have
short arms, he is you know that nasty demeanor that
(01:31):
everybody likes, the very physical, great round block of still
improving in the past game.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
But he can also hold his own.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Mare need to clean up some technique issues, but he's
a very highly rated guard for the second round right
where he's supposed to go, so they might plug and
play him there, but he'll also be in competition with
another guard they selected later on.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
In the third round.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
They with a wide receiver Isaac Tesla out of Arkansas
that a lot of people like, more of a lanky
slot wide receiver said, not really fast, more quick and fast,
but he knows how to get open. He had very
good hands, so I like the overall fit here. So
he was creeping up as a sleeper with most people
(02:15):
bore this mentioned earlier. It's like another guard in the
fifth round, Miles Frazier out of LSU. He's going to
be able to hold his own as far as run
blocking and pass blocking.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
His experienced at guard and tackle. You know, they be
on more with the guard.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
He does have a small hands, but he'll be in
competition with Take Releives for that right guard spot. But
I believe another player could play. They definitely believe he
could be a start, playing up some technical issues as well.
In the sixth round, he went with age Russian I'm
Mad Jasania out of Boise State, one of the first
players out of Egypt to get drafted in the league.
(02:54):
He definitely showed some good pass Russian college, but they
still see him as a raw player, so basically be
a special teamer until he continues to grow as an
edge rusher. But with the production that he had in college,
I can see him definitely be a situational.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Early in his career.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
In the seventh brown, they went with safety Dan Jackson
out of Georgia. He's an aggressive safety alecs to you know,
lay down a hard hit, but he's not really considered
a run styffer.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
It's more of a coverage guy. But they can see him.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
He's played a lot on special teams, so they used
to see him as a special team bro possibly into
a hard hit safety, but until then he'll provide death.
And then when wide receiver it Dominic love It out
of Georgia, more of a speed threat wide receiver, also
playing on special teams, but special teams wild be the
(03:47):
way to heal be able to make the roster. That's
a late seventh Brown pick. That's a decent draft there,
nothing really plays. I like the Tyleague Williams pick. I
like add In Tessla. I said Jim Fraser gives him
a good depth of god where he lost a playing
right guard. The Ruthers is most likely to be the
start of the phraser behind him. Next for the Packers,
(04:11):
I can't a si. I said, I didn't really like
them starting off the first round wide receiver Matthew Golden
out of Texas. You know, he showed a lot of speed.
I said the production wasn't really high. I felt like,
I said, it was more of a luxury pick for
the package. I know they had one injury a wide receiver,
but I felt like they four wide receivers deep. I said,
he does have speed that Dy don't have, so he
(04:32):
could running something different to the position. But I like
him starting out more as a slot wide receiver. But
he does have outside potential as well. In the second round,
it when we tackle Anthony Belton out of NC State,
he considered more of a right tackle prospect. I mean,
he's six six, three thirty, so it seemed like the
package won't give him every chance to well develop into
(04:54):
a left tackle. You need to clean them some footwork
and technical issues, but they think it's low. What was
a right tackle this ceiling, it's left tackle. In the
third round, it went wide receiver save On Williams out
of the TCU. He played a lot of people like
it's good size for the position, but he was used
more like a Deebo Samuels where they let him run
(05:16):
the ball and catch the ball, basically play making space.
So he's considered more of a gadget wide receiver. Depend
how to package going to use him, but he's more
of a better replacement for Watson because they had more
of a similar bill and just play makers in that way.
But I think it'll be interesting see how to use them.
A lot of people see him as the sleeper. In
(05:37):
the fourth round, they went with edge rushing barn so
Well out of Texas. He's a player his good size
for the position, but he was more stand up and
and in the dirt edge rushing, but they see more
of the off ball linebacker in the league of the size,
so he's still developing as an edge rusher, but they
think your potential and even stopping the run game, so
(06:02):
you just got to get used to playing more off
ball than he used to, but he has the strength
to come downhill and attack lineman, which they like.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
In the fifth round, they want.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
McCalla Oliver edge rushing out of Oklahoma State. He's more
of an undersized edge rusher that they think have three
down potential, but he does something us some injury concerns,
but he is a special teamer, so they do expect
them to contribute on special teams with you earn his
keep and need continues to develop. In the sixth round
(06:36):
with defensive tackle Warren Brentson out of Georgia, Prince is
more of a pass rush defensive tackle that they see
more so in the rotation, but he still needs to
get strong and improve against the run. He's more developmental.
A disappointment, and the south of round there w with
cornerback Makyle Robinson.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Out of Julane.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
He had lanky dB with good speed, so he can
play a little safety, little corner more of a movable piece,
which could help him make the roster, but he's still
canaider rod the position, so it'll be a learning care
for him. The Nasty went with John Williams, offensive lineman
out of Cincinnati he played left tackle in college, but
(07:21):
they see him more as a guard based on his bill.
But the versatility might get him some tackle guard versatility.
That said, they all looking for a guard, so if
you can impress early, he might be able to be
out one or the other two. If not looking likely
away to see I say, where they needed position, you
might be able to stick around the developmental. That's a
decent draft there. Thought the wide receivers was a little
(07:45):
luxury picks to me. I mean he did had some
edge rushers and along the whole line. I thought cornerback
was more of a bigger need the secondary. They didn't
really feel that. Let's a decent draft. I think Williams
might be a contribute. Definitely get something out of Golden
with that speed. Felton developed into a left tackle eventually,
(08:06):
and so when there with no real standout, so I
say more over see CEE minus type draft. But I
must see it's okay for the Vikings game of D plus.
It's probably one of my worst drafts so far anyway,
But I didn't really like what they did. I mean,
I know they were limited on the picks after trade
for Dallas Turner played. I do like last year or
(08:27):
trading up for Dallas Turner. I liked how they started
off in the first round, getting gone Donovan Jackson out
of Ohio State. He went on draft boards the late first,
early second just based on playing left tackle last year
when Josh Simmons got hurt, another player selected in the draft.
(08:48):
So he's gonnasider, one of the top guards they basically
you know, he's a ten year like and play guard
at this point who can also slide over the tackle,
giving their versatility. Probably not left tackle, the league most
right tackle, so I like him just with the rebuild
of the old line. They got you lineman from the
coach in the offseason, so I think add Jackson completes
(09:09):
the old line rebuilt, given JJ McCarthy a solid line
to play behind. Then in the third round they select
the wide receiver Kyle Felton out of Maryland. He's a
lanky speed wide receiver you can consider more quick than fast,
but he got a lot of targets in Maryland due
the limit talent around him. So he was highly productive
(09:32):
last year, but a lot of teams were more skeptical
about it, but he fixed the Vikings bill. If they
liked more than lanky, skinny, a wide receiver like they
had with Addis and the Nailer, but I think he
fixed the system. They more of a slot wide receiver
and we also use some outside versatility, but they're more
concerned as far as him getting off a pressed man
(09:52):
coverage being so skinny, just the ability to block overall
or sustaining blocks. But I think he fixed the They're
not really top levelide receiver, but good value there in
the third round. Then in the fifth round, then went
defensive tackle Tyreon Ingram Dawkins out of Georgia. More of
an undersized pass rush defensive tackle. He's built more like
(10:16):
a defensive end, so he gets some d line versatility.
But I'm sure they're going to develop behind that big
guys that they already have, adding two veterans offseason defensive tackle,
so I'm sure he'll be in the rotation, but he
needs to improve against the run. Definitely add some stamps
and wait to his frame. In the sixth round, they
will with the linebacker Kobe King out of Penn State.
(10:37):
His brother played cornerback coming out of Penn State as well.
He's a coverage linebacker, also had a little pass rush
and he can saider a very smart player that away
and its good instincts, but he still needs to develop overall.
But he do see him as a player that could
eventually be a three down player just because of the
way that's the replays what's going on. Last in the
(10:59):
sixth round, he chose tight end Gavin Bartholomew out of Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
He's a blocking tight end with very.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Limited pass catching skills, so he needs to continue to develop.
There many dads who lost their tight end, so he
put his stick around maybe a third tight end, but
usually they bring veterans that already been there, done that,
so he'll probably depeat for the position. I said the
only real contribute I really saw it with Jackson. I
think felt provides good depth at wide receiver. The king
(11:30):
to developed into a batter linebacker, but did a special teamer.
I gave it a deep BLUs. Like I said, probably
the worst draft. I saw a specially limited pitch. Definitely
need some more value, say a better defensive tackle. Thought
maybe they'd find a replacement of safety, but never heard.
Starting off rebuilding the whole line, were finishing the whole
line rebuild lass for the bands that gave him a beat.
(11:54):
I mean, overall, that draft made a lot of sense.
You could probably give it a beat.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Bluss. I'm gonna pay more.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
B They started off selecting tight end Coast and Loveland
out of Michigan. She's made a lot of sense being
given Taylor Williams of pass catching tight end a peer
pass catching tight end, He's more of a mismatch. I
don't really expect Loveland to do too much blocking, but
smooth pass catching tight end the signs for the position
they moved boopies, but needs to Containe develop as a
(12:23):
blocker this overall man say, I don't really see him
as a speed gamon, more quick than fast. In the
second round, they got wide receiver Luther Burden the third.
It was a player I really liked, had them more
highly rated for the draft process, more picked him apart
had him as a high second round pick. So I
think there's great value getting in the second round overall,
(12:44):
more slot wide receiver. He could be a mismatched nightmare,
but I think he has outside potential as well.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
So he just didn't really get the quarterback played that
he needed last year.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Quarterback Brady could getting hurt in Missouri, but still a
playmaker in the space as he shown. Still got his
touchdowns any way, so I like really adding him in
the slot. Finished with Roman Dunes A DJ Moore. Then
in the second round, it kind of took a risky pick,
but it made sense. He took offensive tackle Hodgi Trappolo
out of Boston College.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
He's a six to eight tackle.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
It's considered more of a developmental left tackle based on
his size, does have the long arns everything still need
to playing up some technique issues. Played at six eight,
he had been issues and they believe he has all
the skills. Come from a football background, made foot bunch genetics,
so I think he had played that can at least play.
Not really sure if he'll make it a left tackle
(13:36):
first case right tackle, but he gives them some versatility
swimming tackle for now. In the second round, again it
went with defensive tackle Shamar Turner out of Texas at.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
A and M.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
He's considered more of a sleeper to some people. They
had him in the second round range, so like more
perfect to get him. He does need to have some
strength to start to run, but he does have a
good pass rush to the game. More of a high
motor guy, so they liked that, and he chased down
on every play. He can learn a lot from Grady Jarrett.
They signed obviously. He's another undersized defensive tackle, so I
(14:07):
like to plan there with him in the rotation. In
the fourth round, they want a linebacker, Ruber Hippolyte second
out of Maryland. He's a fast linebacker with good instincts
and athleticism. He needs to play with some technique issues
get better in coverage. He's more a sideline and sideline guy,
(14:27):
but he'll be a good contribute on special teams until
he get better and provide death. In the fifth round,
thee with cornerback Zi Frasier out of Texas San Antonio.
He's more of an older prospect, still a little bit wrong,
but the lanky corner is sixty three, but they see
him over outside presence.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
He'll provide depth.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Of the position, but he's still he declaims the technique issues,
but plays with good instincts and the lanking.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Is of course the on left.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
In the sixth round, they went with Luke Newman thought
out of Michigan State. He's experienced god he needs to
continue to get better at the position, but he doesn't
started potential the last in the seventh round, he went
running back Kyle Monagay out of Rutgers.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
He's a tough, small back, power runner, but he doesn't
really have top speed.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
It can send them too small the block, so like
kind of living him on third downs, but early down
he's got you to get the ball. Say, kind of
out man at Swift type built, but Swift is a
lot better in the passing game, so he'll have to
earn his keep them shut in this Offensele's.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
A solid draft for overall.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
I like how they started off to the coast of
Loveland picked a little iffy. They more of a luxury
pick than me because I do like Huka Man, but
he does provide something different for this offense, and he
competed to Ben Johnson has Sam Porter, so he wanted,
you know, base some pass catching tight end, but la
Porter does both block and catch.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
And I really like the value that Luther Burden picked.
That one was good Risks.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
I mean, I do like Jamal turned to think that
makes sense a lot of death only defense, so it'll
be he'll give it a be BLUs, but I'm gonna
give it a beat. But thanks for tuning in. Looking
forward to give you more real sing. Thanks for the
sport
