Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, fundamentals and techniques. That's the key. Right sixty minutes,
right sixty minutes.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I would like to welcome you Sports Talk uncensored MLB
audition the top twenty five MLB signings. They're in no
specific order, just twenty five random signings that happened so
far in the offseason that I think you mentioned it.
Of course, I'm still waiting on Alex Bregmant to make
(00:47):
a decision, Peter Lorenzo and Jack Clarity, but there's still
been some top moves made so far. And number one,
of course, we'll go with one. Sodo signing with the Met.
I gave you that an eight plus signing an in
town rival. I may not really division rival, but it
(01:08):
still hurts the Yankees, so it makes Mets fans feel
a lot better. Soldo one of the top players as
you've seen throughout the playoffs and into the World Series
this year. To the player to easily go for two
home runs in the game, no issues, gets on base
a lot, stays healthy for the most part, solid left
handed back there. And number two over Corvin Burns signing
(01:32):
with the Diamondbacks. Corvin Burns run out the cy young
l right behind tire school. Coming off a solid season
with the Orioles. You know it's a solid pitcher before
that with the Brewers. The Diamondbacks had already flooded money
into the picture staff last season, which didn't paying out well.
(01:55):
But to go get one of the top guys to
go to their duo as At Gallam and Merrile Kelly,
give him a nice three man rotation like they had
when he made the postseason run two seasons ago. And
even though he cost a lot, it just was the
going rate for pictures. So I can't really say they
overpaid here either. The number three when we'll pitch youre
(02:17):
Rokie Sasaki, the new picture out of Japan. You know
he's a stall over there, not really known so much
over here. But with him being under twenty five, the
Dots be able to get him in a minor league contract,
paying a lot less for one of the top pictures
that everybody wanted. Man, I know they love to see
the padres hurt who thought they really had a solid
(02:40):
chance to getting but that didn't work out so well.
So Sasaki comes in town to no rush to really
throw them into the lineup, but it'll be in the
stark rotation and sometime the season. Solid pick up there
and I gave that an eight plus just beating out
all the other teams for another Dodger signing. Of course,
(03:02):
Pitcher Blake Snell signed to leave the Giants after rentle
there and a solid season towards the end as he
got back in the form after missing training camp wait
for a big contract, but they ended up getting their
hear from the Dodgers, so this is a solid pitcher.
It looks like with the sign and the Snell that
(03:22):
Jack Flaherty won't be back, but Flarerty got them into
the postseason but didn't play well in the postseason, and
Blake Snell is kind of the opposite. He's known for
they always being ready for the postseason, so I know
they'll be looking to count on him again. Then he's
a two times our young one as well and al
and you know, just showing his talent. And I gave
(03:45):
that move a A. So they didn't really overpay. Did
had to come out the pocket and Blake Snell about
his money. Of course, the number five more pitcher Max
Free signed a big deal with the Yankees. I gave
it a B plus. I almost gave it a B.
Thought they were a little left handed heavy, but then
they ended up trading out and that's to go Taz
(04:08):
so Max Freed. They did give him a lot of
money in a lot of years well, number two pitcher,
which they really needed though, especially with Gary Cole in
and out at time due to injury. He's a picture
I really liked, but I don't know if I gave
him that type of money. I think he was more
important for the Braves than he will be for the Yankees.
(04:30):
But me and Salad Pitcher overall, they needed some pitching,
so to B plus slight overpaid, but you need a picture.
You gotta do what you gotta do in this market.
And number six, I'm wan Anthony Santander signing with the
Blue Jays. I gave her a B plus. They didn't
(04:52):
have to overpay with him sitting on the market for
so long, and they needed an out. Heeeld back bad
and a big home run hitter, so they'll definitely get
that with him. Said he struggled to get on basis
much last season. Overall, that's not really a problem for him,
so I'm looking for a solid season from him the
season going forward. So it's kind of show that three
(05:12):
j's are looking up. I guess bro what they have,
So I'm gonna get that A B plus and number
seven with short style Willia Damas signing with the Giants.
I gave it a B Willia Domas because he was
solid with the Brewers and they relied on him a lot,
and he really followed through with the depth. But like
(05:33):
I said, I didn't really like him as much as
Tampa Bay. Something that really showed up. They're getting the
Brewers William Damas or Tampa Bay Willia Damas somewhere in between.
But the Giants had that money burning the hole in
their pocket and just needed to fill that shortstop spot
for so long. He's a solid player overall, so I
gave it a BE. I say it could turn out
(05:54):
to be like a B plus maybe a move in
the short term, but overall, I can't really call it
right now. I do like to player. And number eight
the Dodge is again gonna relieve a tennis Scott who
can also be a closed as well. I gave her
a beat plus. He stole him from the pad Dreins
gave it that extra uncle. I gave him a beat plus.
(06:16):
But he's one of the top closest relievers in the game,
and he planned to get a few innings out of
him though possibly keep the mind and close the rope,
but more so going a few innings in that relief pitching,
especially belying on on the playoff time. So solid pick
up there, with a nice market sized contract too. They
didn't overpay for them as well. Number nine got Christian
(06:39):
Walker signing with the Astros. Walgo was a solid first
baseman for the Diamondbacks and he really showed off mid
to late this season, then early in the season when
he started off high, but he did suffer injuries, but
solid home run hit him. Definitely a power back. The
Astros been looking at so first base for a long time.
(07:01):
The Jose and Brady deal didn't work out well, so
I'm gonna give it an A. It's a nice contract,
solid player, power back. Bill jerned the first base I
think in a short time be like a eight plus.
I don't know how it goes the years goes on.
If I'm just giving solid a number ten, I want
to pitcher Nathan Ilvaldi resigning with the Rangers. I gave
(07:24):
that an A. I mean he showed off as the
ace last year with all the injuries really carrying the team.
They didn't have to overpay him to stay. He enjoyed
being there. I would love to see him come back
to the Red Sox, but we threw him out like that.
A solid pitcher overall. Iobaldi shows up old season during
(07:46):
the season, one, two, three, whatever, you want to throw
him in the lineup. Just a solid pitcher that said
market price, solid a and number eleven old pitcher. Shane
Beaver resigning with the Guardians. I gave it a bat plus.
Beaver they originally, you know, in this last year was contract,
wanted to move him for the season, but decided last
(08:09):
year they're gonna keep them. But then he ended up
getting injured and he still had a solid season, but
have to lose in veteran pitture Matthew Boyd. They basically
need that veteran back in the lineup and that production.
So I think Beaver can fill that form and keeping
him away from all the teams the big move THEMN.
I just give it a beat plus because you don't
(08:29):
really know think it with Beaver, you're getting off an injury,
but he should be at least okay going forward. And
number twelve with outfielder ta Oscar Hernandez resigned him with
the Dodgers. I gave that an a. He was a
player that teams start, struck out too much, didn't really
need him around. But he's the perfect fit for the
(08:50):
Dodgers with so many solid bats ahead of him. And
then there's another player that they don't want to see
in the lineup, another solid power back and even showed
some assistancy to get on base last season, so solid
improvement dead it didn't overpay. He wanted to stick around,
I said, just a problem and at fifth, sixth spot
in the lineup with so many other bats ahead of him,
(09:14):
to bit job to hold on him. They moved there
at thirteen. I want to picture Michael Waker re signing
with the Royals. I get it a beat plus Michael
Waker one of them Podury's pictures the Royals stole last year.
We have him and Seth Lugo and both really showed out.
(09:36):
Michael Waker really showed out, solid right handed picture. So
we felt a number three, number four roll didn't even
show up in the postseason when needed. Solid moved to
stick on him after production. They got fourteen and went
the second basement cleeve with Torres signing with the Tigers.
(09:56):
I gave it a beat. Plus Torres is coming off
of solid season with the Yankees. He's always been up
and down. The last season he really showed out and
even took on the leadoff spot. It was tough on
a lot of players last year, but it hit before
Soto and Judge was very important in the lineup that
he held it down for a long time. Not really
(10:17):
the most power bat, but definitely more consistent than getting
on base. He'd be a solid veteran addition to a
young team feeling them. He he did, even though they
did have coch keep at second base, but allows him
to move either first or third. But solid signing bringing
toy Is into the mix and number fifteen pitcher Luis
(10:40):
Savarino signing with the Athletics. I gave that an a.
It was one of the first few signings for the
off season. I really liked the move, coming off a
solid better on myself season with the Mets, so he
really showed out, even in the postseason, showing up as
their ace as they had injuries to pote our singer.
So he's really what the A's needed last season, they
(11:02):
chased two veteran pictures, the Elix Cobb Rod Stripling, but
their real low level pictures Several Reno is more of
a B the last year even a pitcher, so even
showing they can handle that ace role, he a solid
pitcher to pick up hit the lineup for a young
A's teams looking to grow their pictures. So I like
(11:23):
that move there, Salad He and number sixteen mentioned another
Mets pitcher, Sean Manaia, who resigned with the Mets, the
one they actually decided to keep. Manaya had a resurgence too,
just like Several Reno, where he was known more as
a journeyman inconsistent pitcher, but last year he showed out
(11:45):
as the number two row right behind Several Reno, even
showing up into the postseason just as a pure power
pitcher left handed. So Salid moved to keep him around,
even though I know they wish they could a cap
both man South and probably should have, but solid move
to keep Manya. I gave him that to eight for
(12:06):
that one. At seventeen on outfielder DH Jack Peterson signed
him with the Rangers. I gave that a B. I
like that move gives them good death and they had
injuries in the outfield last season, and then without Mitch
Hannagen who had left in the off season, they needed
(12:26):
somebody to really fill that. Dh Roll and Jack Peterson
just per athlete. He can do everything still basis, hit,
home run, hit on base for average, but he usually
has the injuries from time to time, especially at this age,
but dh Roy has kept him pretty healthy. It's coming
off a solid season in a similar role last season,
(12:47):
so he'll fit in perfect the Rangers team with a
lot of other solid bets, just making them more dangerous
to be moved there. They didn't overspend a nice two
year deal for him eighteen on a pitcher, Walker Buehler
signing with the Red Sox. I get it a B minus.
It's not too bad. It's a nice one year rental.
(13:11):
Maybe I'm a little hard on him being a Red
Sox fan, but Walker Buler, everybody had a solid postseason
last year with the Dodgers looking like one of the
best pictures ever. But prior to that, Walgar Bueler was
coming out of injury, looked horrible at the end of
the regular season when he came back, and at times
it's always been inconsistent or dealing with injury to the
(13:34):
last few seasons, so it's not a bad deal with rental,
especially coming off season, coming off of It's the type
of deal or gamble at the Red Sox like the tape.
But I'm gonna give it a B minus. He's not
expected to be no ace, so I mean they're gonna
put him positive the number two, number three row, so
we'll see which Wauka buler we're gonna get. So one
(13:57):
year can't go too bad. If it does, they'll bench them,
put him in the bullpen as usual and number nineteen
outfield of Tyler O'Neill signed and deal with the Orioles.
I gave it a C plus. I felt like the
three years was a little too much. I mean, I
understand it makes sense. I gave it a seat plus
(14:17):
where they basically need a home runs to replace Anthony Santander,
who they knew they wouldn't be able to afford. But
Tylo O'Neill is basically coming off a rebound season with
the Red Sox. I would have liked for him to
stay with us, but I understand the business for the
Orioles to be a team that doesn't spend a lot
to give Tyler O'Neil a three year deal player it
was proven that he hasn't really stayed healthy. That was
(14:40):
a little weir for them, but it could work out us.
I gave it a seat plus. It could be a
BE to B plus move like it was for us.
But I say it was more on a rental for
the Red Sox. This is a three year deal, but
it kind of stuck with them. But I think, of course,
when he is healthy, will get home runs, so I
understand the idea. I know him to stay healthy again.
(15:02):
Not to ask them, Gie Cardos fan and the tested
that the C plus moved there number twenty more picture
you say, kakushi sound with the Angels, it's like the
first move of free agency. Here be able to see plus.
He's basically the type of picture he could look like
one of the best pictures at the beginning of the season,
(15:24):
then more towards the end he more so levels out
with inconsistent play where he's somewhere in the middle. He's
really more of a number three, number four type picture.
But the Angels planning to use on his ace. They're
limited staff, but like last season, When he started out
with Toronto, he was their number four and he had
(15:46):
a solid season. Then they traded him off to the
Astros with injuries and he was their number three, number four,
and he didn't play as well. So I'm pretty sure
the same I had with the Angels, but start off
looking more like the ace they paid for, but dip
more as the season goes down. So I gave it
you say, Son and the Sea plus. In twenty one,
(16:10):
the dodge is again from outfielder Michael Vinfronto. I gave
it a C plus. Fo too, was a solid player
a few years ago with the Mets. He's been mostly
dealing with injuries by this time with the Giants, but
he has shown power at times and get on base.
He'd be a nice left handed play to provide death
(16:32):
because they'll probably lose Heywood and Carmeia, so silid replacement
for them. So just some death, more death or a
team just never know when the injuries. That number twenty two,
I want the pitcher Charlie Morton signing with the Orioles.
I get her a C. Charlie Morton was a solid pitcher,
but he's getting a little older. Used to filling in
(16:55):
like the number three row at losing Corvin Barns. I'm
not really sure that's what the Orioles need, but maybe
they just wanted a solid ending. This guy in a
veteran who we train their young staff. At this point,
I don't really know how many equality in it they'll
be getting out of Morton, but it's just a rental.
(17:15):
We'll see how it goes there to see. And number
twenty three when we close a roll, this Chapman signing
with the Red Sox, I get you a C plus.
He's another older picture, but he's shown that he still
got some gas up in the tank, still can throw
over one hundred miles power like you always been able to.
(17:35):
He had a nice streak going and getting teams into
the postseason by the ended last season when he was
with the Pirates, even though they did start off solid.
So I'm sure he'd be looking to regain that postseason
formed with the Red Sox and hopefully you can get
us in, I said, just a veteran. Then they've done that,
come in postseason, regular season and helped me at any time,
(17:57):
so I like to move said nothing to really brag
about though. Twenty four on first baseman Paul Goldsmith signing
with the Yankees. I gave that a B plus. The
Yankees been looking for somebody to feel in that first
base role for a while. I mean, I know they
thought Anthony Rizzo had it as another older player. He
(18:18):
suffered injuries right before the postseason into the postseason, try
to play through them, but they could always use upgrade
at their first base spot with Rizzo being a left
hand with Salad and right handed Goldsmith felt like two
seasons ago he was MVP calib and deserved to be
in a conversation. So he's coming up and down here
last season, so I'm not really sure what Paul goals
(18:40):
have they'll be getting as he's getting a little older,
but Salad pick up there. I mean, veteran usually shows
up and still has some power in his back, definitely
gets on base consistently besides last season. B plus number
twenty five veteran pitcher Matthew Boyd signing with the Cubs
(19:05):
get it a beat plus to boy coming off a
solid season with the Guardians, playing at number two role
and even showing out in the postseason as well. Solid
right handed veteran pitcher. They still got some prime years
in them. Solid picked up by the Cubs needed to
improve their pitching staff for overall, just a down year
(19:26):
by the pitching staff last year, even at age justin steel.
So Matthew Boyd Wild probsibly be their number two, number
three behind still behind stealing show Telly Managa, so solid
pick up there as well. The base you can hear
from the list, you know you got teams like the Yankees,
the Dodgers of course, and the Mets leading the way,
(19:49):
so they would be my top three because in order
of Dodgers, Mets, Yankees so far this off season as
far as moves made. But I hope you enjoyed this,
looking forward to giving me more sports news. Thanks for
turning in, Thanks for the support.
