building and self development for young children. Guardians and teachers join Teacher A Meal
and friends as we aim for thestars raising Heroes up tomorrow. Now here's
your host, Teacher A Meal.Hey you guys, so welcome to the

(00:41):
podcast Amptheycha Miller. And in thisepisode we are going to talk about well,
not really a conversation this is,but I'm going to just ask you
for questions because i know a lotof you are thinking about going to the
pre school's education sector. Unlike theprimary school and secondary school, there are

(01:03):
more needs and expectations when you areentering or you are in the preschool sector,
regardless of the different parts of it. Either you're going to be a
childcare teacher or a kindergarten teacher,an Richmond teacher, any segment of the
pre school sector. You got tolisten to these four points. You get

(01:26):
to ask yourself if you are readyfor entering or for the responsibilities expected of
you when you go in that sector. Now, the first one, it's
important when you go into the preschool sector, it's never a job.

(01:48):
It is a job, but it'smore than that it is a commitment because
you're not just teaching. You arecaring, you're developing, you're cultivating,
your inspiring, your everything in oneright. No matter what your role is,
you have a commitment you have tocarry out. It's more than just

(02:10):
the teaching part. So are youable to take on all the responsibilities and
task off of preschool personnel. It'snot just a job. You can't just

(02:30):
clock in an out. There's somuch involved in raising young children because it's
not just like you know, it'snot education. It is education, but
it's raising young people. So thefirst one is not a job, but
it's a commitment. It's gonna bea long term thing because if you can't

(02:52):
commit something, and if you're notsure, don't enter the pre school sector.
Now point to you, everything youdo will no longer be about what
you want or what you need. It's no longer just about you. Yes,
you want something to happen, Yesyou want to get something. Yes

(03:15):
you have goals and this and that, you have your inspirations. But when
you go in the pre school sector, it's going to be all about the
children and you, the people aroundyour colleagueshipps and you, the school you're
working with and you the curculor andyou, so it's not all about you.

(03:35):
You got you've got a big, massive ego and you you have such
wonderful dreams. Yes, it's goodto have aspirations. It's good to have
dreams, but you need to puta lot of yourself aside for you to
be able to truly commit to youbeing in the princool sector. Right,
so that's something to you. Areyou ready to put yourself only aside and

(04:00):
include the other people involved in yourcareer in the profession? Now point three
and this one. It's not alot of people want to They don't understand
that you need to be ready todo more than the actual work hours when

(04:27):
you are in the priscal sector. It's not just clocking at seven and then
you clock out at five or sixor seven, pin whatever it is.
There's a lot of learning, alot of preparations, a lot of planning,
a lot of different things. Yougot to go on a weekend to
get to go shop and a weekendto get to get things ready. You
got to finish up reports to getto the so much work to do that

(04:51):
you will find it frustrating if youdon't expect such things. Even if you
are in Richmond sector. You goin the afternoon to certain schools that to
the five like in my company stageof kids. Now people think, okay,
i'd worte from three to five. When you get paid, this is
this. But when you get whenyou go to work, it's not just

(05:15):
you don't repare your materials there andthen you still have to linear curriculae.
Still get to get things ready forthe kids. You gotta get the props,
you gotta get the art materials ready. You gotta have things, you
know, templates ready. Pain.Do you have enough pain? All the
work is outside of your official officehours, official work hours, because you

(05:36):
can't be getting your templates ready andhave your group of fifteen kids sitting down
looking at you. You gotta doa lot more than that before the kids
arrive. So be ready to investa lot more time than what is on
paper, because you definitely will needto give more time. And if you

(05:57):
can't do that, I don't thinkyou are going to survive. I don't
think you will like this jobs. It's gonna take a lot more from you.
It's gonna drain out of a lotof your personal somewhere if you are
passionate about it, I think it'sthe best thing to do. It's a
lot more rewards. But I'm justgiving you all these four points that's really
gonna want to make you think andmake you kind of all over before you

(06:24):
commit. It's not fair for theschools and the children for you to go
in and say, Okay, I'mjust gonna try. If you want to
try, you can do internships, you can ask the schools if you can,
you know, volunteer for probable store. See how things are before you
sign on the paper. Right, anyway, let's go to point four.

(06:45):
The point four is everything, literallyeverything. It's your responsibility, even when
the space, the tools, andresources are not of your choice or your
pickings. So your options now.Yesterday I was with one of my newer

(07:06):
teachers in a school and she's beenstruggling with a space because it's a massive
school. The classrooms really big. It's just divided with divided by cupboards,
and the other class classes next youknow, next door, and they're all
noises, a lot of noise andall that, and she's struggling to project

(07:26):
your voice and to manage their childrenbecause she feels that the children are just
distracted and she doesn't like the spaceand everyone's noisy. Now, those are
excuses. What you have to doas a teacher, childcare, kind,

(07:49):
gun, language, En Richmond teacheris to be able to use whatever space
you have, whatever tools you have, forever resources you get, and make
an effective lesson time for the children. You can't be teaching children to be

(08:11):
fantastic if you're not going to befantastic yourself. You can't teach children to
be resourceful if you're not resourceful yourself. You can't teach them to be amazing
people and be responsible, be responsiblefor the actions if you are not going
to be responsible for your actions. You can't teach them to be good if

(08:33):
you're not good, right because theseyoung kids are going to be learning from
you, and you know three orthree to five or six that's the best
time years to learn, to do, to learn and to develop character.
So you can't use all these excusesexternal factors as excuses for you not being

(08:54):
able to be an effective or abetter official teacher, because if you can't,
you shouldn't even have to know. When you get a job, you
would have gone through the space, you would have seen the space. You
would have at least seen the childrenand the teachers and the people before you

(09:15):
stand in the contract, you wouldhave known. Firstly, you hadn't known
that you should have gone to theplace to figure it out and see if
you like it. If you're sosensitive through the space and the children and
the conditions, then you don't justyou know, get in there and commit
and then realize a couple of daysor weeks later that it's not the space

(09:37):
you want. That's not the rightway, because you know, schools need
people who are able to commit whenthey say they will commit with a space
that's given. So again, justto repeat these four points, it's never
a job, it's a commitment. Can you commit? Are you one of

(10:00):
those who's going to be jumping jobs? Is not going to be one thing
to do something even though you knowit, even though you say you will.
And then second, why are youable to feel your needs once with
the needs and ones of other peoplearound you, especially children? And number
three are you ready to give andtake? Can you give more out of

(10:24):
the official hours to your commitment? And then fourth are you going to complain?
And why? And if I neverexcuse to not be able to run
your classes effectively. Right, Sothere's so much that you need to consider

(10:48):
before you sign that piece of paper, the contract, and you say I'm
going to go into the field. So many differences to the childcare, the
primary school and other upper level schools. Education academy is a requirement, but

(11:11):
there's so much more than the academywhen it comes to the pre school sector,
regardless of what part segment of it. Right, So think about those
points and only if you say yes, I'm going, I've expected all of
those, I am willing to giveall of those. I want to put

(11:31):
in my one hundred percent more thanthat to all of those, and then
get in there. Be ready toexperience a lot of changes. Be ready
to go to a lot of failures, Be ready to get even school things.
Be ready to feel heartbroken, beready to feel a lot of different
things. You don't want to feel, but you will feel and experience that

(11:52):
you don't want to but will experience. You will experience horrible adults, you
will experience excuse me, worriable children. Are you able to do all of
that and then gain there. It'snot fair for schools and children for us

(12:13):
to just take it as you know, this is just a job. It's
never just a job with handling youngchildren, right, So think about those
points and then if you go onany comments, just let me know to
forget to switch scrap of the podcastand I will see you guys in the
next episode here the Dreaming. Thanksfor listening to the Stage for Kids podcast.
