Isaiah Reinhardt is just sixteen years old when he leaves his home in Beaufort, South Carolina. He had been betrayed not only by his brother but by his sweetheart, who was pregnant with his brother’s child.
Not wanting to commit murder due to the overwhelming rage he felt and bring even more shame to his family, he left, heading west. He meets Jacques Ledoux, a French trapper, and his son in St. Louis, and is taken under the mountain man's wing and trained to become a trapper. Will the West capture Isaiah's heart? Or will he feel the need to return to his roots in South Carolina? Whichever route he follows, it will be wherever the wind takes him.
