Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Hello, Hello, how's everyone doing? Another week? Another episode?
This is Stats over Politics as always, I'm your host,
Sean Holko, alongside my guys, Kevin Dent, Okay, Vaughan Totti.
We're back for another episode, number one hundred and fifty four.
I'm officially back. I was not with the crew for
the last episode. I was visiting family out of town.

(00:51):
I appreciate the guys for holding it down for me
and Kevin Dent. How are we doing today?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Doing well?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Shot, I've been waiting for this moment. I got as
tee shirt that I was just waiting to show you.
Hell yeah, women's sports. Yes, I did not have this
shirt on when I had to do the research. I
was telling Tindy before the show, I thought the Phoenix
Suns were moving to Boston. Just a little steak to
we're talking about. And then we load up and I

(01:17):
do the topic of tiny goes Is that a w topic?
I said, you know what, brother, Jason Tatum goes down.
I thought you guys had to run at the stadium, Sheriff.
Stadium times are hard. Everyone gotta go.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I get it. Take agent, I'm all for it. But
I'm doing well. Man, can't complain.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
My father came into town this weekend, so we have
to do a bunch of stuff. Got to eat some oysters.
There's some oysters on the grills. Salmon U good days.
Eagles football is back, so you know it's it's against
that time, so I cannot complain on this end.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Oh yeah, Jayvon, how are we doing today?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Going good? Everything's on up and up football shirt. I'm
comfortable and I'm comfortable with my own space. But I
mean we're everything's on that up. Enough football seasons coming back.
We're seeing all the preseason games. It's just another thing.
It's just trickling down week by week, guys, week by week.
You know what that means. Hotline's back. When college starts Hotline,

(02:15):
it's time to make money.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Second weekend of college football. Because I don't know if
you guys know this. The kickoff is Soelf's birthday. Tity
will not be watching second week. We're talking about college football.
We will be doing college football episodes as well, so
we're gonna have a big fall for the podcast. We're
getting to that goal of three hundred subs as soon
as possible, So make sure you have the northcations because

(02:37):
we're gonna be going live lot.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Yeah. Kevin mentioned Soub's birthday on August thirtieth, literally opening kickoff.
I got a plan in mind for that day. It's okay,
everything's und.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
He said. You don't do a party at eight am.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Oh my god, man, I look forward.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
I look forward to hearing what that plan is, because
you're gonna have to finish your way to watching those
games and giving your lady the birthday that she deserves.
So I wish you the best of luck and Kevin,
no need for the hate on the tank top from
Toddy Man. This morning, I had a meeting with my
coworkers at my new job. I now am a reporter

(03:20):
for West Coast Preps. I am now covering the entire
Saqquaquin section. Went from covering three schools in Woodland, two
schools in Twollamie County to now like one hundred and
fifty in the Saqquaquin section. And I got to get
started today officially attending practices for schools I've yet to cover.
I was out in Oakdale, I was in Escalon, and

(03:41):
now I get to cover the best of the best,
and so I'm so excited for that. Thank you to
Chris Jackson and Gregory moreland Ton for the opportunity. But
the reason why I bring up that meeting this morning
is because when I attended that Zoom meeting this morning,
I had a similar tank top on Toddy. So you're
comfortable in your own home. It's not like you're indecent,

(04:01):
and so I respect it and that attire works for
me as well. But Kevin doesn't.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Before we move on, you must not you must have
listened to that episode.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
You must have not watched last week, because he came
on with the one watching this.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Was like, this is my cousins. Oh that's pretty hilarious, Kevin.
I I love the shirt. I'm glad that you now
know about the Connecticut son. And that's that's a key
difference to is it's the Connecticut son rather than Son's.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Son.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then uh soon to be the
Boston son. And so maybe that'll persuade Toddy to give
the w a longer.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Look on fire to win it all next season. Mmm.
I like it, like coming to Portland. I'm getting a jersey,
you know.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
So well, we'll get to the WNBA at the end
of today's podcast, but real quickly. While we're on the topic.
I just wanted to give a shout out to my
friend Matthew Pearson, who's also locked into the w like me,
and we were messaging back and forth when this news
came out, and he sent me something that I thought
was pretty dope, where if they decide not to keep

(05:24):
the Sun franchise name and they're moving to Boston, they
could call them the Boston Charm.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I like that a lot. Or or since they're from
Connecticut going to Boston in Massachusetts, they could kind of
follow up on the Patriots and be referred to as
the New England Something's. Obviously they're not going to be
the something like the Washington football team, but they could
either be the Boston Charm, the Boston Son, or even

(05:54):
the New England Son. So I guess we'll have to
wait and see, but we'll get to that later here
on episode of stats or Poltic, Sean Holg go alongside
and Jayvon Totty. Guys, let's not waste more time. Let's
get right into it as we kick things off with
some NFL this week. And I know last week you
guys talked about my guy, Scary Terry McLaurin from the
Ohio State University. Kevin, I am saying this at a

(06:18):
bad time, so I wanted to delay it a little
bit as you took a sip of your beverage there.
Oh I oh, yes, sir, all right. So I know
you guys talked about Terry last week because he's been
waiting to get paid and he hasn't and so because
of that, in the last week, Scary Terry McLaurin has
formally requested a trade from the Washington Commanders. But that's

(06:38):
not all in the NFC East because, much to Kevin's joy,
Micah Parsons, arguably the best player on the Dallas Cowboys,
has also requested a trade, and he posted a novel
in a notes app on x to explain why he
felt that way. But ultimately, two of the best players

(06:59):
I'm not saying the best, like two top ten players
Kevin in the NFC East have requested a trade, and
so as our resident Eagles fan, our NFC East expert, Kevin,
what was your reaction when you saw each of these
trade requests?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I don't I think it might have been me once
I put the Terry McClure in number that he was
asking for, and we kind of went through it last
week on the numbers that he wanted, which is thirty
three million. Me and Ty talked about it last week
that DK Metcalfe really came in and fucked up the
market because Terry's not looking at the market. He's looking
at DK Metcalfe. If you're looking over the production. Terry
McLaurin has a thousand yards besides one season he finished

(07:37):
with nine to fifty eight, I believe, and he was
catching footballs from me. He was Ty, you know what
I mean, Taylor, Heinikey kirk Cousins.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
He had a lot like a long length he lifted quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
So he's been catching football from And to have a
guy like that, and with a new regime, I understand
he's not the new regimes guy. But to have a
rookie quarterback on a rookie deal, you're really not paying
anybody besides it's Larry Tunsell and Marshawn Lattimore. You don't
make a Larry Tunsell move and not resign your best receiver.
There were three two to three games last year where

(08:10):
they won off a walk off Terry touchdowns. Terry McLaurin
had a big impact for Jade McDaniels. And if you
take him off, I know there's two guys on this podcast,
especially Toddy who says skinny debo, you know he's there.
They got Luke McCaffrey and they got some other rookies,
but I mean, they're not Terry McLaurin, and I get it.
I'm also one of the big guys that once they

(08:32):
hit the age of thirty, you don't really want to
pay him because they're only going to regress. But he's
a guy who's been there through the trenches. You know,
he could have requested to trade his prime and he
did it. He stuck it out for them, So as
a leadership locker room guy, I think they should pay him.
I think that's what's gonna happen because I don't think
anywhere he goes he's getting thirty three. And if he

(08:53):
is getting thirty three, he's playing in Carolina, he's playing
in New England, you know what I mean. So he's
no longer winning. He went to ANC Championship for the
first time in his career, and you would only think
that he would want to build on that momentum with
his quarterback, and like I said, on a rookie deal,
there's no reason why they shouldn't do it.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Now there's Michael Parsons news. It dropped.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I sit all the screen shots and then I got
an unrestricted number and I answered it right away, walked
down my office. It was Howie Roseman. So we're pitching
back and forth. He's let me know what kind of
trade packages we're gonna hit. So Michael Parsons might be
an Eagle. Toddy Things is out of the market. No
way in hell he trades them. But is he gonna
risk him sitting out? They already got enough going on.

(09:35):
And yes I know Jerry Jones is infamous for paying
in Superstars late. Michael Parsons did not show up to
training camp today, so this was the first day.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Where he was a no show.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
He was not a whole double to hold end. So
it's it's interesting to see how this plays out. But inevitably,
I told Toddy, whether he's an Eagle or he's out
of the NFC East, I'm a winner. We don't got
to see him no or is it gonna be on
our team? So either which way it works out. Michael
Parsons Terry McLaurin, go get the bag, my man, go

(10:07):
to the AFC. Go over there with Joe and and
Lamar Donald go go over there with it. They they
need the help. So it's gonna be interesting to see
how this plays out. They paid Dak I think the
morning of the first game or the night before the
first game last year. So the spread did I know
Tyson saying the hotlines back? The spread did jump to

(10:29):
eight and a half week one versus Dallas Cowboys. So
if they have no Michael Parsons out there, I mean,
we're getting rumors that Kyrien Williams ran up and down
the field on them, and they're inner team scrimmage, so
he's not Sae Kwon Barkley. So the Dallas Cowboys better
figure it out or trading for George Pickints was a waste.
And what a lot of people aren't mentioned are forgetting

(10:50):
or they are forgetting, is that Michaeh Parsons and George
Pickts have the same age. So that can go a
long way.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
It could go a long way. Javon, what was your
reaction to Terry McLaurin and Michaeh Parson Michael Parsons equal
excuse me, run it back. I fucked that up. Javon,
What was your reaction to Terry McLaurin and Michael Parsons
each requesting a trade from the Dallas Cowboys and the
Washington Commanders.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Well, my first initial reaction was Terry couldn't wait. He
couldn't have did it a day earlier when me and
keV recorded the.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Podcast, right, I hate when that happens.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
And then as far as the Terry McLaurin thing, I
think you saw him, like on the sidelines, he's dapping
up Jaden, he's given hug the Jay Daniels mom like.
It doesn't seem like he's like I need to get
out of here, and this is like he's a cancer.
He's not that we all get. We all know Terry's character.

(11:49):
He's been one of the we saw I don't know
if you guys saw the Orlowsky thing. And he's basically
been the bright spot for the Commanders, the only he's
the only Yeah, he's been the only guy to get
something positive about the Commanders besides JD last year. Everything
before him, like before Jen Daniels got there, it was

(12:10):
like this guy, Terry McLaurin is a monster, like he's
gonna get thousand yards every single season and he doesn't
get hurt, So for him to want to raise it's
only it kind of just makes sense. By the same time,
you're looking at it from a new regime Adam Peters,
who came from San Francisco Fort Donors. By the way,

(12:31):
he didn't draft Terry, and the new ownership wasn't really
a part of all of those bad years. So from
a g from a general front office standpoint, you're looking
at it from Hey, we love you, Terry, but I'm
not gonna give you forty million dollars thirty eight million dollars.
Let's find the middle ground. We want you a year,

(12:52):
Let's get you out a reasonable number. I think are
reasonable number is thirty. That seems like the number Harry's
asking reportedly for thirty four thirty three million dollars. That
is what DK Metcalf got, And me and Kevin don't
view DK as a top five wide receiver, although he

(13:14):
is being paid. Because I think a team in the
Steelers was desperate for something on the outside and they're
like a blank check, here you go, just put whatever
number you want on there. We got Aaron Rodgers come
and don't worry about it. I think DJ Metcalf is
a really talented player. I don't think he's a top
five wide receiver. Now Terry's looking at like, well, DK

(13:36):
got this and look at my stats, X, Y, and
Z as he should, and his agent is are there
are him and his agent are arguing, in fact, my
numbers are better than DK metcalfs I should get more
money than him. That should be what anybody's agent should
do based off what the market has presented itself. Now

(13:59):
we all knew realize that there are blips in the
system when it comes to certain people's contracts, like oh,
I don't know, Deshaun Watson getting two hundred fifty plus
guaranteed million dollars and has been terrible and hasn't played.
So there are things like that that happen that will
mess up the market from time to time, and the
mark will always reset itself and there will be players

(14:22):
like a Jamar Chase, like a ced Lamb, like a
Justin Jefferson that will get crazy amounts of money because
they are the best at their position. Now, prior to
this all happened in Courland, Sutton signed a twenty three
ish million dollar dealing. Kevin was like, Hey, look how
much Courland Sutton got. Why isn't Terry sign for that.

(14:47):
I think that's slapping the face of Terry. I don't
think he's I wouldn't say Courland Sun's a bad player,
but he's not. Really. He's a very very good receiver,
but he's not the up rational and he's very consistent,
but he has shown signs of Terry has not shown
that those signs of injury in the past. He's very production.

(15:07):
Sign of product. Production is literally what Terry McLaurin brings
to the table. And obviously when he got a good quarterback,
you saw that what he was able to do in
the playoffs, what he was able to do in the
regular season, it was just tenfold. So I just think
Terry has to kind of come down a little bit
on his number and let's be a little bit more
realistic about what he's going to be getting. And then

(15:29):
another thing we mentioned last week was Terry McLaurin has
Noel Bros. And he doesn't have I don't know, I
think he only has like one Pro Bowl. So I
think that does play into the fact I'm not saying
Terry is not. I think he's one of the top
receivers in the league. But I'm just it gets a
little murky when it comes to the money. Now, but
the Micah Parson side of things, as far as Michael

(15:51):
Rich requesting and trade, I think this is a little
bit more realer than a lot of people are thinking.
Jerry and I could. I guess it was reported that
they had a handshake deal and OTA's and Jerry this
is not nineteen sixty whatever, nineteen seventy. I don't know
what he thinks this is this. Michael was like, all right, cool,

(16:15):
I guess they were. They were talking about when when
Dion signed with the uh when Deon signed Deon Sanders,
when he signed after the nine and one Super Bowl
he went to the Cowboys, that was like a handshake
deal for like thirteen million dollars. I can only imagine
what that thirteen million dollars was for Deon Sanders back then,
probably have been like thirty million dollars. Now, I guess

(16:39):
he did the same thing with Tony Romo. He said
that he bought the Cowboys off a handshake deal, And
I'm just like, what type of fucking like lank decass.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Like what it's going to gain everything in writing nowadays.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Yeah, So it was just like Michaeh did the right thing. Hey,
we talked about this number. Let me get my agent,
who I'm paying, who I'm paying to orchestrate this deal
for me, as anybody should iron out all the details,
make sure this isn't Then Jerry's like, well, we listen,
blah blah blah blah, and I'm just I wonder how

(17:09):
I don't know what the number is, but it should
Me and Kevin were talking to me and Kevin talk
all the time. Obviously, the number should be in the realm.
I think it's in the realm of a Micah or
of a TJ. Watt, of a Miles Garrett, which is
I think Micah is like right below those guys. He's younger, obviously,

(17:32):
so the potential, the potential for him to be better
than those guys is you know this guy's limit for
Michael Parson's obviously, but right now he's just right below.
I think he's like right below those guys, so he
should get something similar, maybe a little bit less. But
I think Micah's asking for top dollars. But when you

(17:52):
look at who the Cowboys are paying. They're already given
CD thirty plus Dad got sixty. So dray Von's got
one hundred million dollar contract and he's heard and Micah
probably wants forty. So Jerry's kind of looking at it like, hey,
I'm paying. He already said it in a presser or

(18:14):
one of the press conferences that one of the interviews
that they did. I paid Dak and he only played
seven games for US. I paid c D this and
so I under see both sides of it. It's gonna
be tough because Micah is gonna ask for an astronomical.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Amount of money and as he should.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
As he should, yes, but I don't know if the
Cowboys can pay what he's asking. So I see I
definitely see Michael Parsons willing to say games out like
just trade me, like I see that, like from the
Terry McLaurin if I think it's night and day from
the trade request. As far as what's going on, I

(18:54):
feel like the Commander's gonna end up coming to a solution,
whether as the Cowboys and Michael Parsons. I don't think
there's been any movement since him and Michael shook hands.
In that alleyway or wherever they were at when this
when this deal, when they struck this deal. So I
I he's definitely not going to the Eagles. I will

(19:17):
tell you that, Kevin. I'm just letting you know that
right now. Jerry ain't. No, he may be an idiot,
but he's not stupid. He So I just Kevin's gonna say, well,
we can offer him the best we can here. You
know what, you saw what Sakwan did when they just
let him walk. The Giants let him walk, and he

(19:37):
was just two thousand yards and Super Bowl ring Joe
Hill was sick to the stomach. Now we're just gonna
willingly do a deal with the devil.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Hell No, Jared, When you get two good guys and
two pigs, why not?

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Hell, because because then you have to watch him twice
a year.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
That's why we have to freeze over before Jerry Jones.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Jerry Jones give a fuck. Jerry Jones is out in
two three years.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Jerry okay, Well, Jerry Jones would rather.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Literally Jerry okay, Shawn, So before he gets all mad
at me, twenty seconds later, he sends me a fucking
gift talking about nine good trained for Michael Parsons crazy
as I am.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
You too, You're with me, He's not that right now,
fans you go out to all right, well.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Context matters, so thank you for revealing that asking. Well, okay,
but what the thing that I was about to say
is that Jerry would rather see Micah sit out for
two to three years, go to the XFL, go to
the CFL, whatever. He'd rather see him just completely set
out than become a Philadelphia Eagle. Jerry Jones would rather

(20:51):
die before seeing him become a Philadelphia Eagle. And it
would have to it would take Jerry Jones dying for
Michaeh Parsons under team control to become a Philadelphia Eagle.
It would have to take Stephen Jones to be the
one to bite the bullet and say, hey, the Eagles
can give us the best package. It's gonna hurt, but
this will help us better in the future. And so yeah,

(21:13):
so yeah, I was about I was about to Okay, Yeah, you.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Guys look at it from like, where would he get
traded to. He's probably gonna get traded to like a
bad team that's not good. That's where like Dallas is
a bad team, but they're like we think we can
be this type of team, but.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
They're not the Jacks their year everywhere.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
They're not the tight ends. They're not that. Okay, it
was a low blow. We're just an a championship game,
But I mean, one year actually would go. It's not
like it would realistically probably be an AFC team that's
not good, that has a lot of cap space that
can absorb his contract. That's kind of where So it's like,

(22:00):
you want to get paid by the Chad. Why money's green, Toddy, Eric,
Not a lot of people request trades from the Cowboys.
It's more like I want to go to Dallas or
get drafted Dallas, versus I need to get out of here.
So yeah, Kevin's right, he does have a point there.

(22:22):
Money is green.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Well, contact certainly matters, And Kevin, I'm glad that you
mentioned the other part of that conversation that Toddy was
not revealing, because that saves us some time because I
was just about to ask Javon, all right, Kevin thinks
that Michael Parsons is going to be an Eagle. Javon,
what do you think is a realistic landing spot? And
now we just saved ourselves some time. Just to cut
out that bias.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
And so.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
I do think what Javon just said though, is a
good point, just in terms of the realistic options. Is
it's a bad team. I mean, Kevin, you sent that
one trade proposal in the group chat of who says
no and is created by a Boston fan and in
that trade, wasn't Terry McLaurin and Micah Parson's going to
the Patriots like? And my response was just, of course

(23:09):
that came from a Boston fan. Only a Boston fan
would make that trade or trade proposal. And so the
last thing that I'll say to close out this topic
before we move on to another wide receiver, actually several
wide receivers are coming up next. But what I'll close
with is that I love Terry McLaurin. I think he
deserves to get paid. I think he deserves to get

(23:31):
paid a little bit more than what Jayvon is saying.
I think around the thirty three thirty four range, not
thirty eight thirty nine. But he deserves to get paid
thirty three thirty four million dollars annually. And all of
that is said, but wide receivers, unfortunately for Terry, are
more so a dime a dozen in terms of like

(23:53):
right now, the forty nine ers have arguably the worst
wide receiver corps in the NFL, as Kevin has been
telling us for months, But the forty nine ers have
a little bit of optimism because they drafted Ricky Pursol
in the first round last year before he got shot.
They drafted other rookie wide receivers that are going to
be starting their careers this year. And so the point is,

(24:16):
is Kevin takes a nap, is that the forty nine
ers have optimism because they spent draft picks to try
to find that replacement. It's a lot harder to find
that replacement through the draft for an elite defensive end
than it is for a wide receiver. And so that
works against Terry McLaurin. Like when we're just talking about

(24:37):
these two players by themselves, Micah could sit out and
he will get what he wants eventually. He may have
to pull a Le'Veon Bill, but he can get his
money eventually. Terry, on the other hand, might get paid,
but he gets traded to a crappy team to do so,
and it's like his leverage is less. And so I

(24:58):
think both of these guys deserve to get paid, but
it'll probably end up working out better long term for
Michah Parsons, just because there's not as many Micah Parsons
or potential Micah Parsons out there in this world. But
there are plenty of elite wide receivers who are coming
up throughout the high school college ranks and even some
in the NFL today that haven't gotten that opportunity to

(25:22):
really flourish, and a team like the forty nine ers
could give some of those players an opportunity. I don't
know if it's necessarily chosen Anderson, who we're going to
get to in a bit, but the point being is
that it's a lot easier to replace it an elite
wide receiver as great as Terry is, than it is
to replace an elite defensive end like Micah Parsons, and

(25:43):
so it'll be interesting. We will continue to follow both
of these stories as they develop in you can count
on us to talk about it here on Stats over Politics.
As we continue here on episode one fifty four, Sean
Hopo alongside Javon Totti and Kevin Dent, guys, were gonna
can continue with the NFL and we're gonna get to
the Chargers because the Los Angeles Chargers, led by Jim Harbaugh,

(26:08):
who's got it better than us, apparently a lot of
people right now, and that is the sediment coming from
Chargers fans because we see on our Instagram live comments
as one in a million says Chargers season over see
you guys in twenty twenty six. And that's following the

(26:30):
news of Keenan Allen returning to the Chargers after being
traded to the Chicago Bears and playing one year with
Kayleb Williams and it ultimately didn't work out. But now
we see Keenan Allen returning to the Chargers, one in
a million saying on Instagram, Charger season is over see
you guys in twenty twenty six. And so Toddy, I'm

(26:50):
gonna toss it to you first. Is this a good
or bad move for Los Angeles that Keenan Allen is
a Charger once again?

Speaker 4 (26:58):
I think it's a good move. Me and One we
go back and forth. He's a big Charger fan. He's
talking about obviously Rashaun Slater going down. I think with
the Pelotar.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Yes, yes, the news of the day.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
Than Pelotar, I think he went down with a peloton.
I don't know how to pronounce it, whatever it is.
Somebody can help me out.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
But he season enduring, pateller tendon.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Pateller tendon. There we go. He went down after you
just signed a big contract a couple of weeks ago, actually,
but he was telling me about, you know, Keenan Allen
coming back. I actually really like this receiving core that
the Chargers have. Kevin is wide eyed because he does
not know Ball does have a They do have a

(27:39):
lot of young receivers, two rookie receivers I'm really interested in. Obviously,
they have lat McConkie coming back, who had a monster
year for them, Keenan Allen, who's gonna be a vet,
probably be close to one thousand yards. Trey Harris, old
miss receiver, battled injuries throughout college, is a dog when healthy,

(28:00):
and a guy in KeAndre Lambert Smith kale s and
he has he's been going by in camp from Auburn
uh for transferred from Penn State, went to Auburn called
touchdown basket of Hall of Famme from Trey Lance. He's
going to be a guy that I think is gonna
make noise for them, so I kind of I like
their receiving corps going into it. They do have a

(28:23):
Marion Hampton, the rookie running back out of UH North
Carolina who's was viewed as one of the top backs. Obviously,
they had quin Shawn quin Shawn was coming out Trevon
Henderson Ohio State Boys. Those two guys were gonna get
drafted regardless wherever they were, they were gonna ball. But
Amrio Hampton was that guy that was always in the mix. Well,

(28:45):
I think is gonna make some noise for them. I
was looking at getting first team reps and obviously they
have Najie Harris, but I don't know what his severity.
He's had like eye injury that happened during the fourth
of July, so he's kind of up in there. But
I like the Chargers team come back. Obviously Herbert, he
didn't really have a good showing in that playoff game

(29:07):
a couple of months back. He's been a guy that
has been had kind of been had to carry the
offense because they I would they lacked weapons. But I
think Jim Harbaugh another year building through the you know,
building through the old line, building through the draft, being

(29:27):
able to get young receivers around him. I think their
defense is going to be pretty good next year. Keenan
Allen is gonna be iceing on the cake for Justin Herbert.
There are no strangers to each other, and I think
the Chargers gonna be I think the charge are gonna
be pretty good this year. But I do think what
one was talking about twenty seasons already over because Rashaun Slater,

(29:50):
their star tackle, is already out in training camp. So
I still think they'll be a viable team. Obviously, Rashaun
Slayer was a big part of their own, but I
think Carball is gonna be able to find a way
to build around him. Must be able to win games
this year.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Kevin, what is your reaction to Keenan Allen returning to
the Chargers. And obviously, as Javon mentioned, the news of
today is that Rashaun Slater as a torrent Peateller tendon
and so that is a big loss for the Chargers
as one indicates. But overall, Kevin, is this a good
move for Keenan Allen and the Chargers to reunite.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
This reminds me of when Dwayne Wade left the Heat
and came back two seasons later.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
This is a guy who ship never left the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
I get it, Mike Williams goes down, But Keenan Allen
should have retired a Charger. He should have only played
in that jersey in the San Diego Chargers treachy we
talked about uh Terry McLaurin and his loyalty through that
franchise of the Bad Days. Keenan Allen was also loyal
through the Dark Days, So I think it's well be cool.
I guess Toddy mentioned they do from Ole, miss and

(31:00):
the other dude from Auburn, Sean. How many NFL catches
have you caught in your career?

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (31:06):
You know, a total zero, Toddy?

Speaker 3 (31:08):
How many touches have you caught in your NFL career?
The same as them?

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Right?

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Yeah, all right?

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Three podcasters are the same stats as them. So let's
uh cool down on the the Trey Harris hype.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
You know he was good.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
There's a lot of guys that are good on Saturdays
and not Sundays. You mentioned one of them, Trey Lance,
so uh thanks.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
He looked elite in that Hall of Fame game where
he did I caught the highlights.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Now I don't think anyone watched it live.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
I had it on in the background, but I was
not watching attentatively. But he did play all throughout the
first half into the second half.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Go Trey Lance is not one, not two, but three
first round picks to start miss the rebelevant goddamn.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Who know?

Speaker 4 (31:52):
We'd like to think Ford killing this podcast. Kevin would
like to dwell on the past.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Hey, mister irrelevant saved our ass. Thank you God for Brockhardy.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
What has he really done?

Speaker 3 (32:03):
But that's for another day, another day. But uh, yeah, congratulations,
you guys got another washed up receiver to play along
Quentin Johnson and Lavi Conky.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
So oh yeah, I forgot about yeah, the reason why
he didn't mention him.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
That's all good, I guess.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Yeah. And so now speaking about washed receivers, that gives
us the perfect transition into our next topic, which is
that the forty nine ers have chosen their next wide
receiver aka yeah chosen Anderson foreigner formerly known as Robbie Anderson,

(32:48):
and then Robbie Chosen, and now he's chosen Anderson. I mean,
I don't even know, Like I I joked in our
group chat, I was like, chosen the savior, just like
I joked about Saint Brown equanimious Saint Brown being the
savior for the forty nine ers. Yeah, and he got cut.

(33:10):
I guess we got our new savior. So Toddy, I
don't really have much to say about this one, but
because we do base this podcast mostly out of northern California,
this is a relevant topic, especially given how bad or
down bad the forty nine ers are right now in
their wide receiver room. And so as a fan, just
watch your reaction to this news of Chosen Anderson becoming.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
A forty Niner.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
I mean, I don't know, Like we've signed Eli Apple,
and before I could tie my shoe he got cut.
We signed Chosen Anderson.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
Maybe we're just trying to get a look in practice,
but I don't really see him being or making the team.
I think our wide receiver depth is kind of just
DeMarcus Robinson. He's probably gonna get suspended. Jacob Cowing is hurt. Brandon,
I you gu is obviously hurt. Freaking Pars been opening

(34:04):
practice today. Kevin is for audio and the listeners giving
us the thumbs down.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
We'll see.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
I think is gonna be all right. He's the worst
number one, quote unquote, but hey, uh, I think our
our wide receiver room is just just kind of shot
right now. Like Russell Kyle Sham was talking about Russell
Gage today. That doesn't excite me. But uh, Jordan Watkins,

(34:33):
Jordan Wilkins, he's been out there balling in practice. So
I I we're just we don't we got no where
to turn here, so we're kind of just like, hey,
just we'll bring in and we'll see what it looks like.
But as far as Week one goes, who's going to
be our starting wide receivers, I have no idea. I

(34:53):
feel like that's like the focal, that's like the the
main thing for our whole entire team is who's catching
passes from Brock Purty not named George Kittle, Christ McCaffrey.
And yeah, really those two guys.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Well, Kevin, I am personally dead inside that this isn't
even a topic that's relevant enough to talk about with
the forty nine ers. But given all the discourse and
shade that you've been throwing at the forty nine ers
throughout this offseason, given what the state of their wide
receiver room looks like, now, it's probably your your chance
to just dance on their grave a little bit more.
But just what was your reaction to the forty nine

(35:30):
ers choosing Anderson.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
I am extremely disrespected by the air quotes, Toddy. So
I'm gonna need you to unmute me because we don't
get people what they want. And I'm sorry, Mako has
to hear this, Toddy. I'm gonna go through all thirty
two teams in the NFL, and let's find out if
Ricky Piersoll is the worst wide receiver one in the NFL?

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Oh god, really?

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Is he better than Kali here?

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Who?

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Khalilsha here from the Buffalo Bills?

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Yes, all right, so there you go, he's not the worst.
We don't have to go through the rest of lis.
We're done. So that was easy.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
I forgot we were on politics over stats.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
My man, Look at look at Mako, smile even he
knows that Ricky's better than Is.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
He better than Tyreek Hill? Is he better than Stephan Diggs? No?

Speaker 1 (36:22):
Maybe, maybe it depends.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
You can't say maybe, And they say he's been here.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Okay, I was Kevin. I was just going to make
a joke. But it's okay. We can keep it going.
I was just gonna say maybe it depends on if
Stephan Diggs is actually at the Gamer, if he's at
the Strip Club, it depends.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
But is he better than Garrett Wilson, They Flowers, Jamar.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
Chase Hell, Jarry Judy, DK Metcalf No, Nico Collins No,
Michael Pittman.

Speaker 4 (36:57):
Yes, Ran bt J, Brian Thomas mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Calvin Ridley No, he played like six games? Is you better?
Courtland Sutton?

Speaker 1 (37:15):
No?

Speaker 4 (37:15):
No?

Speaker 2 (37:17):
Is he better than Rossi Rice?

Speaker 3 (37:20):
No?

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Is he better than Jacoby Myers?

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (37:25):
He could be better than is he today?

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (37:31):
Is he better than Lamba Conky No? Is he better
than Ceedee lamb Hell Moligue neighbors A. J.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
Brown?

Speaker 1 (37:43):
No? Terrible Horn Javon. We should have just said yes, J.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Moore.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
Any receivers the rookie from the Panthers from Arizona.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Yeah, because you can't even name.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
His name, I'm not gonna butcher it.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
McMillan. You're talking about McMillan.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
For the Panthers from Arizona.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
Wasn't that McMillan.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Is that my name? McMillan, I don't know McMillan. Oh, yeah,
is he better than he's not better than Mike Evans.
He's not better than Marvin Harrison. He's not better than
Poka Nakula, and he's not better than JSN. So the
only two names that you guys have hoping is Jacoby
Myers and Calisi here.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
And Michael Penman.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
Wait and see, we saw seventeen games. He came back.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Kevin Dan put some respect on our twenty ninth ranked
wide receiver one.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
You know what, let's make it bad. I bet you
kalil Ar has more y'all the rocky piersong, but I don't.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Want your money.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Is even the number one receiver?

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Yes, I'm pretty sure Little is the number one? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (39:12):
It's it's shak here is it?

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Okay? So what what are the terms of his bet?
Because he just said that he doesn't want your money?

Speaker 2 (39:20):
I want your money, loser, gott to cut his hair?

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Oh, I want your hair.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
I want you to put locks in a ziploc bag
and send it to my house. No, you believed in Ricky,
I do cut my hair?

Speaker 4 (39:38):
Fun.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
Uh? Well, Kevin, Uh, I'll make that term. Kevin, I'll
make that bet with you. I'll cut my hair. That's okay.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
I want his hair.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Well, when I had when I had the super hair,
when I grew my hair out for two years until
I cut it at the beginning of this year. I
had like a ponytail that was maybe like like that
long when I when I put it up, and my
mom actually suggested, she was like, you should have them
chop it off and put it in a box and
save it. So anytime that you think about growing your

(40:10):
hair back out, you look at that and you think,
do I want to do this again? And it's actually
worked out pretty well. And so all right, chosen Anderson.
He's a forty nine er. He probably won't be by
next week. Yeah, I turned into a Rick Pearsall segment.
So to continue the discourse, when it comes to the
forty nine ers wide receiver room, I just ask you simply, Javon,

(40:33):
will the forty nine ers pay Juwan Jennings?

Speaker 4 (40:37):
I mean pay him thirteen ish twelve?

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (40:42):
Why not twenty million dollars? I don't know about all that.
I think, Uh, Juwan, well, right now he's injured, as
must of our wide receiver room is. So I mean,
I think when it comes to Juwan Jennings, we love him,
love him as a player, who's a seventh round pick.
What he was able to do for us last year

(41:03):
was obviously crazy. He was a great fantasy waiver wire
pickup for a couple of weeks. But I do think
when it comes to Juwan Jennings, the number is closer
to like thirteen ish. Sean wanted to give him like

(41:24):
ten to that, but I think the number has to
be like thirteen million dollars for him to come back
on a reasonable deal or this will just be I mean,
we just extended him, so, I mean like his extension
was like not what he was hoping for.

Speaker 1 (41:45):
So well, he also he had a he had a
career year, and he's trying to capitalize on that.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
I don't think absolutely so I think I love him
to come back for thirteen, but I think he's hurt,
so I think that's kind of factoring into the hold
up of his actual contract of his deals. So yeah,
come back, Juwan, come back for that thirteen. We got

(42:12):
you got spot for you.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
Kevin, Given all the discourse about the forty nine ers
wide receiver room again, uh, do you think that the
forty nine ers will actually pay Juan Jennings, who you
like to refer to affectionately as Jan Jennings.

Speaker 3 (42:26):
Give him give my man nineteen to twenty mil. He
deserves it. Wide receiver one Corland sunn got twenty seven.
You can give Juwan twenty. That's all I gotta say
on it.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
Hey the man his money.

Speaker 1 (42:43):
Fair enough? All right now, Kevin, it's time to move
on to one of our favorite segments, if you could.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
It's been a while. We have a fact or cap.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's been a while. We're doing a
lot of this to that, a lot of shots pop quiz.
We're going back to one of the og segments of
the podcast. So we have two Niner fans. We just
talked about two Niners subjects. I think it's only right
and so mus it to you. First factor cap. The
Los Angeles Rams will win the NFC West for the

(43:12):
second year in a row.

Speaker 1 (43:14):
This is a cap because the San Francisco forty nine
Ers will be reclaiming their throne atop the NFC West.
As Mako agrees with me, because this is the forty
nine ers division. They had a bit of an off
year due to injuries, just like they did back in
twenty twenty, and now it's time for them to reclaim
their throne. This is cap because the forty nine ers

(43:36):
will be the NFC West champions in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
All right, tyy, we got one fact. We got one cap.

Speaker 3 (43:42):
Must swe you to you next fac to cap the
Los Angeles Rams, you win the NFC West for the
second year in a row.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
I think this is a capital world. I think the
Niners schedule is just quite too easy. The Rams schedule
is tough, and the health of Matthew Stafford it's kind
of up in the air right now. Reports came out
about him saying that he got an epidoral in his back,
and that's not good for the I know that's not

(44:12):
a good thing for a guy that you just signed
to one hundred million dollar extension. So give them the
Niner schedule the health that they have come back. I
do understand having a young team, but Vegas has this
as like ten and a half wins, like that's a
lot in the juice to the over. But Kevin said,
they don't play the games in Vegas, they play them

(44:33):
on the field. So with that cham back, so I
think that this is a factory or this is a
cap for sir. I think the Niners won the LFC.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
West Actor Cap.

Speaker 3 (44:44):
The Los Angeles Rams will win the NFC Rest for
a second year in a row. I'm gonna say this
is a fact, Sean, as a Niner fan, what can
you tell me without a debate, The Niners do better.

Speaker 4 (44:55):
Than the Rams.

Speaker 1 (44:57):
They have a better tight end, they have a better
running back. They have going into this season, they will
have a better quarterback, they have a better defense, they
have a I was about to say they have a
better coach, but mcfay's actually won a Super Bowl, so
I can't say that without having biased shining all over.
So yeah, tight end, running back, quarterback defense.

Speaker 3 (45:19):
I mean two players compared to a NFC championship defense.
We just is Fred Warner, Nick Mosas is that much
better than anybody else?

Speaker 1 (45:28):
Yes, you've You've got hey Demo. He really emerged last
year and he got paid because of it. But the
thing about Fred Warner and Nick Bosa is that when
you have two guys who are at the top of
their position across the whole league, not just the division,

(45:50):
that matters. And so yeah, I think they're better overall.
You You're muted right now, Kevin.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
The way I look at it, is This Rams team
is young. Yes, they don't have the experience of the
Niners do. But the quarterback play, I'm gonna go with
the Rams. Wide receiver room, I'm gonna go with the Rams.
And as far as health goes, it's not crazy to
say Kyrien Williams is the better running back. We don't
know what CMC version we're going to get, so kind

(46:21):
of going off of, you know, to Achilles injuries.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
He had to get some surgery done, he came back
and got hurt again.

Speaker 3 (46:27):
What is CMC? Yes, I get it. He was an
offensive rookie Offensive Player of the Year two years ago. Yes,
once of the Super Bowl years ago. But what is
he today? August seventh, Kyle Williams just got paid as
a top ten running back in the NFL. Can we
even sit here and with a straight face and say
CMC is still a top five running back? So now
he's in the five to ten or six to ten,

(46:47):
and so is Kyrien Williams. Matthew Stafford took this team
to the NFC Championship. This team adds DeVante Adams Kuka Nakula.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
This wide receiver room is one of the top duels
in the NFL, what do we see.

Speaker 3 (47:03):
I would put my money on the Los Angeles Rams
winning the division for a second year in a row.
They beat you guys twice last year. I get it,
you guys were hurt. Matthew Stafford is a baller. They
don't bring in a guy like Devantae Adams to not
win the division, and I get it. Toddy said that
you guys have an easy schedule. That schedule will means
absolutely nothing when it comes to the division because if
they beat you guys, if they win more division games

(47:25):
than you guys do. We saw what the Vikings and
the Vikings in the Lions last year. Vikings had a
better record, but they had the worst conference or division records,
so they had to play on the road first at home.
It only matters about those six games. No one really
no Cards. No one's really looking at the Cardinals, and
no one's really looking at the who's the fourteen Seahawks? Yeah,

(47:49):
no one's looking at Sam Donald's. So with these two,
like Harry Williams said, the Big we're big bro down.
You know they went in there and got you guys twice.
I I think you guys split this year. But I'm
definitely gonna take the Los Angeles Rams to win this division.

Speaker 1 (48:06):
Well, over the last couple seasons, this division has belonged
to the forty nine Ers and the Rams, because, Yeah,
last year, the forty nine Ers just had a dreadful season.
I would attribute a lot of it to the injuries.
But then you look back to twenty twenty three, when
the forty nine Ers not only made it to the
Super Bowl, but they also won the division. But you

(48:26):
look at the division records from twenty twenty three, the
forty nine Ers and Rams each went five and one,
they split with each other, and then you had Seattle
at two and four, the Cardinals at zero six, and
then you even circle back to twenty twenty two, another
season that the forty nine Ers won the division. In
twenty twenty two, the forty nine Ers were six and

(48:46):
zero in the division. So over a two year span,
the forty nine Ers were eleven and one in their
own division. And then you have an injury riddled season
and the forty nine Ers go one and five in
their division. It was dreadful last year. All things combined,
it was dreadful last year. I feel better going into

(49:07):
this season in hindsight because of twenty twenty. Like last year,
thinking about twenty twenty just made me miserable because the
twenty twenty four season was like deja vu to twenty
twenty all over again. But I look back to twenty
twenty one, and the forty nine Ers had a good season.
In twenty twenty one, if I remember correctly off the

(49:28):
top of my head, they made it to the NFC
Championship Game, where they lost to the Rams. But at
that point the forty nine Ers were on an eight
game winning streak against the Rams overall, and then they
lost that playoff game because Yakwaski Tart dropped an interception,
and so it's it's easy to say that the Rams

(49:50):
could repeat atop the division, but recent history has shown
that this is the forty nine Ers division over the
last five, ten years, even fifteen years, dating back to
when Jim Harbaugh took over, and it's an anomaly when
the forty nine Ers don't win the division. It's not
necessarily like the NFC East, where a different team has
won the division every single year for twenty years. The

(50:13):
forty nine Ers have owned this division for the last
fifteen years. Last year was an anomaly, So I think
that this is cap Yeah, those RAMS.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Scenes went as good as this RAMS scene. You have
to admit that.

Speaker 1 (50:24):
Yeah, for sure, for sure, and that's why, like the
forty nine Ers had that winning streak against the Rams,
where Sean McVeigh could never beat his predecessor in Kyle Shanahan.
And when I say predecessor, obviously Kyle Shanahan didn't coach
the Rams, but you get the point that they were
together with the commanders and McVeigh was lower on the

(50:44):
totem pole. But I think we can all agree that
this division will be won by the forty nine Ers
as forty nine. Well, I meant I said it a little.
I had a dramatic pause there my thought process. Forty
nine Ers Rams, We can agree that the forty nine
ers ramps will with a division and yeah, and I

(51:06):
mean Seattle they were they were solid last year. But
I'm just like you. As much as I love the guy,
I'm not that much of a believer in Sam Donald.
And so we'll just have to wait and see when
it comes to how the Seattle Seahawks look this year
with Sam Donald running the show. As now, we will
continue here on episode one fifty four of Stats Over

(51:28):
Politics Sean Holko alongside Kevin Dent, Jayvon and Mako Toddy. Guys,
now we are going to transition from the NFL to
some basketball. We're gonna start out with the NBA. We're
gonna close things out with some w NBA. So let's
get to a couple of extensions because two all stars

(51:50):
recently got paid. And we'll start things off with the
Lakers signing Luka Doncics to a three year, one hundred
and sixty five million dollar extension. And the significance of this,
and I hope that I remember this correctly, but he
signed this extension six months to the day that he
was traded to the Lakers from the Mavericks, and it's

(52:13):
still hard to believe that that trade actually happened. And
the other thing that I want to say about this
before I get each of your thoughts on this contract extension,
is that I saw a tweet recently on X where
it said, like, imagine if in the NBA when a
player got traded, there is no breaking news about it

(52:34):
or any type of Yeah. It was man, and it
was like, imagine if it's like the WWE, where they
just come out of the tunnel, you hit their theme music.
And then this tweet showed the gift of Stephen A.
Smith and Michael Wilbon when they I believe it was
in the NBA Finals a couple of years ago, where
they were just absolutely shocked. And then it's like, that's

(52:57):
what the Laker fan reactions would be still to believe
that that trade happened, And I really don't like thinking
about conspiracy theories and like collusion and all these things,
but still looking at it now, Luka Doncicch got traded
to a big market, to the Lakers, to Kobe's home

(53:18):
where we know how Kobe felt about Luca. Luca gets
traded to the Lakers, and then the Mavericks end up
getting the first overall pick with like a one point
three percent chance of doing so, and they get Cooper
Flack to replace Luca, kinda just like when Lebron went
to Miami. Then Cleveland gets the first pick and they
get Kyrie Irving, and it's just a pattern that it's

(53:38):
hard to ignore. But regardless, the Lakers signed Luca to
an extension. He is staking his claim in Los Angeles
that this is his team now and Kevin as the
Lebron stand on this podcast. You probably noticed that half
of Luca's teammates came to the press conference to celebrate

(54:01):
his contract extension, but there was one person, one significant
person missing, and that was Lebron Raymond James. So, Kevin,
what's your reaction to Lucas signing this contract extension with
the Lakers and does this mean the end of Lebron
James is the Los Angeles Laker.

Speaker 2 (54:22):
I'm really happy they got this done.

Speaker 3 (54:24):
Going into this next year, it would have been all
about is Luca gotta re sign? What's Lucas summer look like?
So for them to get this he's done now goes
a long way. So I'm happy that they were to
get this done. The Lakers had a really good offseason.
I know a lot of people are gonna say they
did it, but signing number one former number one overall
draft pick and DeAndre Ayton and then Jake larvae He

(54:48):
was a solid guy for the Kings. He was more
known for his time in the Grizzlies. But the lost
as Lakers are making traction for this to be to
make move to move off with Lebron James, I think
from here on now in Lebron's career, it will be
a one year deal. So let's say they go out
there and win a championship. I definitely don't think they
move off of Lebron James. I think they bring him back.

(55:10):
But as far as him not being there, it's kind
of whatever. I mean, there were rumors that Brian Winhurst
came out said he faced timed them live at the
press conference, so it's not like he's anti Luca. Fuck Luca,
ABC and D and he was just on his podcast,
so I know he's a very big fan of Luca's game.
I know there was a Team Kobe where everyone was
gonna wear the Kobe's. He wanted him to be the

(55:32):
first person on Team Lebron. So the relationship between Lebron
and Luca are is never going to be salted. Like
Lucas said multiple times that Lebron James is his favorite player,
so I did not see anything wrong with him not
being there. But Lakers are making decisions that are best
for them, and if that means moving off of Lebron
James or putting him on this kind of one one

(55:54):
year to one year wonder, I'm kind of going from there.
I'm not mad at it. He is forty one years old,
you're twenty three. You don't really see that a lot.
So for Lebron James to still be playing at a
second team all NBA. He came fifth in NBA voting,
So I would just say that I think they're gonna
put him on a one to one year deal from
here on out, the kind of focus things around Luca

(56:16):
and kind of see where that goes.

Speaker 1 (56:18):
Well, I appreciate you saying that because that is the
reality of the situation now. And so Javon, what's your
reaction to the Lakers signing Lucas to this extension and
was it a good move for Luca to lock himself
up in Los Angeles?

Speaker 4 (56:33):
I think LA is just a natural place where everyone
will all free agents kind of want to go to.
They're also lingering drip drop rumors that Oh Jokic didn't
sign the extension. Luca just signed a three year extension
for one sixty five. Does this mean that Luke that
Yoka is going to LA. I think that's kind of

(56:54):
a stretch, but I do think in the future people
are going to want to come to LA.

Speaker 2 (57:00):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (57:00):
By the way, Luca Dodgers is there. It's kind of
already set up for him to be the man there
once Lebron kind of, you know departs. And we've seen
when Luca when healthy. The last time he was healthy
for full season, Uh, they went to the Vitals and uh,
obviously they got bounced in five games by the Boston Celtics.

(57:23):
I do think when we obviously understand the Luca transformation,
Uh the magazine cover in when him lost times and uh,
I think that when he is, you know, locked in
in shape, Luca is obviously one of the best players
in the NBA, and a lot of people before last

(57:46):
season had Luca ahead of Shay Gillis Alexander who was
Nikolay Luca Shay. Obviously, everything that happened, Shae Gillis Alexander
won MVP, had a crazy year, they won a championship.
But a lot of people before the season started thought
Luca was the better player. And I think we can

(58:09):
all recognize that he's one of the best players in
the world. And when I think it was off season
as the Lakers kind of you know, they kind of
were getting what they could get. It's not like a
lot was available for them, and I think that getting
of DeAndre Ayden was like, hey, we got DeAndre Ayden,

(58:32):
but it's like we had Jackson Hayes. So it's like
we got to work what we can get and obviously
don't connect with the guy who has been in trade
rumors throughout the They traded him to the Hornets, but
you know, Mark Williams wasn't a guy that they could
go out and go get so obviously due to a

(58:56):
failed physical. So I just think that when it comes
to the Lakers as a team currently constructed this year,
I don't know how good they'll be, but I think
when you know, the future kind of presents itself, it's
gonna come down to Luca's are our focal point, our
piece that we're going to build a championship team around,

(59:17):
and Nico Harrison has proven that it's possible to build
a championship contending team around Luca. Doncons Now, Luca is
a lot lighter and brobably a little bit more healthier
than it has been in years past. So we'll see
what this Luca is gonna be. Because if this this
like rookie like Bubble Luca or like we get one

(59:41):
of that type of that type of Luca coming up
this NBA season, I think the Lakers can be one
of the best teams in the league, and it depends
on the health of Lebron James and obviously Luca Donkons.
So this was I think this was already gonna happen.
I don't think it's really news to anybody that Luca
would leave LA after being traded there. So I think

(01:00:02):
the Lakers are is it is a Lucas team yet,
keV or is it still Lebron James team or it's
Lucas team.

Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
Watch him out?

Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
Yeah, I mean Luca, Luca ain't brought no championship to that.

Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
Teams came and gray haired is it and he's still
wearing that twenty three jersey.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
It's Lebron's team, man, Bro, it's Lebron's team without it.

Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
Now, I don't know I think saying that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
I'm an NBA fan, and I think this extension.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
You're twenty two, forty years old, top five NBA MVP list,
second team on the NBA.

Speaker 1 (01:00:50):
I mean, this is this is Lucas team. It's Lucas team.

Speaker 6 (01:00:53):
Now, what makes you say I think Lebron they extended
Bron wants him to do it. Lebron is always wanted
like a teammate to like, hey, like you please help me, Like.

Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
Yeah, help me. I don't help you, you help me.

Speaker 1 (01:01:09):
Yeah. But like we we all.

Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
We also and he's still saying get on my back,
but we all.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
But we also thought that Anthony Davis was gonna be
that guy that he passed the torch to. And like
that Bubble championship, when Anthony Davis was the one who
carried them through the Western Conference Finals past the Denver Nuggets,
we thought that was the passing of the torch moment,
but it wasn't. And so like and Kevin, I saw
your eyes get big. Anthony Davis was the guy in

(01:01:38):
that one shot in that Western look at that. Really,
I maybe maybe my memory is is wrong from five
years later, but and I know you'll take it, take
the time to look at the stats, but I remember
Anthony Davis. Yeah, damn right, Uh gotta gotta defend Lebron
at all costs. But I thought that that title run

(01:02:00):
was ultimately the passing of the torch where Lebron was saying,
you're gonna be the next Lakers great. And then Anthony
Davis got traded for Luca Doncic, and like understandably, so
Anthony Davis should have been traded for Luca Donci as
the key piece because if you'd rather have Luca Doncers
or Anthony Davis, I'm taking Luca Doncic. But Kevin, to

(01:02:21):
put it simply, I feel like this extension officially makes
it Luca's team because will Lebron be here in three
years on the Lakers when this extension is over. We
know he's coming back for one more year, and if
I remember correctly, Luca, did Luca have one year left
that they've now extended upon three more years? And so

(01:02:44):
the question is will Lebron be on the team in
three years when Luca's going into the final year of
this extension. Luca will get paid and Luca will be
eligible for the Super Duper Max in twenty twenty eight,
But will Lebron even be on the Lakers when lucas
to get that money. He may not. Lebron may not
even be in the NBA anymore because he'll be like

(01:03:05):
forty five years old. And so that's why I believe
that this contract extension solidifies the Lakers as Luca's team now,
and Lebron just has to respect that because he's arguably
the greatest of all time. But he can't play forever
because Father Time is undefeated. And so this contract extension,

(01:03:25):
in my opinion, solidifies that the Los Angeles Lakers or
Luka Doncic's team.

Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
And I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (01:03:33):
You know, in the tail end of the contract tomorrow,
he's eighth today as seventh Lebron James team, They're not
making moves for the future, They're making moves for the now.

Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Yeah, you guys can call me crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
He will never play with a guy as good as
Lebron James is at forty years old.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
I mean, that's that's not a statement considering that Lebron
is one of the all time greats period.

Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
Like I mean, let's let's Lebron James is still that dude.

Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
We can bring up the age, we can bring up
the one year deal, we can bring up the Luca extension. Yes,
Lebron's not going to get another three year extension because
of the age. But when it comes down to it,
who hires it, who who's bringing all these guys and
who's we've called them le GM forever he's the one
orchestrating all these moves. People love Luca.

Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
We had dudes that have Wade County say I'm coming
to Cleveland. I mean, let's let's call it spatas fada.
This is Lebron James. When you play with Lebron James,
you're on TV every night. We've seen people play with
Luca and be on NBA TV. You're playing with the
face of the league. You cannot be the face of

(01:04:52):
the league and not the face of your team. It
will just be Lucas team this time next year, guaranteed.
But as long as US twenty three is lacing them
up and throwing the I was gonna say the chalk
throwing the chalk in there, it's Lebron James's team without
it out.

Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
That's fair. That's fair, and I think I think we
can agree on that just in regard to the here now,
but also two to three years from now, because I
think that this contract extension was them locking up their
next guy, as they should, because Luka Doncic is arguably
a top five, if not top ten player in the NBA,

(01:05:32):
and so he deserved to get paid and he wanted
to lock up his next home because he thought he
would never leave Dallas and things changed quickly overnight. And
so now, guys, let's get to another all star guard
who recently got paid. And for those of you who
are watching on YouTube, Instagram, in Twitch, you may have
noticed a quick outfit change.

Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
For me.

Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
I had to change my shirt because deer and Fox
of the San Antonio Spurs just got paid, as he
should as the Spurs agreed to a four year, two
hundred and twenty nine million dollar max extension with Dearon Fox,
and I had to change into my dearon Fox shirt.
I bought this shirt after he got traded because that's

(01:06:14):
how big of a Dearon Fox fan I am. But
simply put, he deserved to get paid. I'm happy for
him getting paid. Whether or not he's a San Antonio
Spur through the rest of this contract, that's a question
mark because of now Dylan Harper being a San Antonio Spur.
But I'm happy that Dearen was able to secure the bag.

(01:06:37):
He's back in his home state and it's well deserved
for Dearon I'm happy for him. Kevin, as a fellow
Sacramento King fan, I know that you and I are
kind of on the opposite spectrum of how we view
former Kings players. But what was your reaction to Deeron
getting paid by san Antonio?

Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Surprising to tell you, the least to pay him fifty
seven point eight million dollars on his with a team
with Dylan Harper, with a team with Stephan Castle. You
have guys behind him, man for you to pay him
this kind of money, could this hinder their development?

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Maybe?

Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
I'm also tell him Tidy before the show that this
could be a deal used to go get a guy
like Giannis, to go get another big time guy, because
they have another contract to help match that so they
don't have to give up so much capital. Darren Fox
is a top ten boy and guard and he's seven
through ten. So there's a lot of things to like

(01:07:34):
about dearon Fox, a lot of things that dislike about
dearon Fox. We didn't get to really see this combination
of him and Wimby Floorish because they were both hurt
and both shut down towards end the season. I didn't
They only played probably six seven games together. So it's
gonna be nice to see everyone screaming from the rooftops
that we wanted to see Womby added with an all
star teammate.

Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
Now we got that teammate.

Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
This is a young team that wanted to trust the
process versus rushing the timeline.

Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
So I understand it from that.

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
But like Shaun staid, I doubt he sees year three
and two of this contract. So he's because now he'll
be there for the next five years. He had one
year deal left, so one year left. So I when
this contract hits, will he be on the team?

Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
Will Dylan Harper have an amazing rookie year? Will he
kind of have a James Harden. Okay, see Kinnie where
he's coming off the bench and they got to kind
of say, look, Darreon, we love you.

Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
But when we traded you, we didn't think we were
the number one pick, number two things.

Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
So now that they have it, Stephan Castle gets a
year to continue to develop. But like I said, is
that going to stunt their development? We saw how good
Stephan Castle was last year, Rookie of the Year, playing
majority of the year without Darren Fox. So now you're
taking the ball out of his hand and put in Dearon.
So what does this team look like? But we saw
what Daron Fox is on the best on a We
saw what he's like on the best team, on the

(01:08:50):
best player on the playoff team. He's after twenty eight
points to night so coutch Player of the Year. He
has other accolades. So as a Kings fan, I'm happy
to see it, but as a Spurs believer, I don't
see him being a part.

Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
Of their future.

Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Darn darn Fox gets paid. Javon, what was your reaction
to that. I was shot, just like.

Speaker 4 (01:09:12):
Sean or Kevin was because you got the number two
pick in the in the drafting Dylan Harper, And I
think Dylan Harper was a guy that I thought I
was gonna be able to start, and Darren Fox as
a trade piece. But when they traded for him, Sean
was like, Kevin was like, I know, I did. They
were gonna get the name. So I think it's a

(01:09:36):
I think it's a pretty massive.

Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
Thing for that.

Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
So yeah, yeah, I'm really happy.

Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
Don't worry, Toddy, I just needed you. But yeah, you know,
I'm really happy for Daron, and Toddy just dipped on out.
So we will see the pod Father next week. And
so Kevin, now we're gonna close things out with another
one of our favorite segments. But also we're gonna chat
a little W.

Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
I mean, we could wait for Toddy to do it
next week, unless you want to do this too, and
I then I'm in.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
I'm in for whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
Let's let's close things out with this or that and
then we can save the W for next week.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
Perfect. So we have a we talked about him. We
have Sean has A nick Key, Nick Cleveland, Claver, Clavered Cleford,
what's his name?

Speaker 1 (01:10:23):
Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
The new number five?

Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
He has his shirt on, Nick Clear. You should have
came you should have came on out with a backwards
but now, hey, I don't want to listeners. He has
number five.

Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
You know the thing.

Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
The thing that's funny about it is I was I
was gonna come on with it backwards, but I wanted
it to be like a little bit of a reveal.
Uh yeah, so uh yeah, Now I got my d
Aaron Fox shirt.

Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
Yes, okay, perfect. So we are going to end it
with a this or that, the Aaron Fox edition. Sewan
first name up, Jamal Murray, Oh, Darren Fox umber number option,
give me Jamal Murray because Jamal Murray plays great alongside

(01:11:16):
the Joker.

Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
Now, if they were both number one options, I'm taking
Darren Fox.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
But as both being number two options, we're gonna go
Jamal Murray here. Next name up your boy, You're you're
gonna be hardy. This is tell you that the heart
Tyr's haliburt.

Speaker 4 (01:11:30):
Give me Tyr's halliburn.

Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
Give me Tyr's Haliburt. An All NBA All Star, one
of the most clutch runs we've seen in a while.
Next name Darius Garland.

Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
Oh, that's tough. I'm gonna go with de Aaron Fox, though, I'm.

Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
Gonna go Darius Garland for the playmaking aspect. We know
de Aaron as a score as a great clutch player,
but Darius Garland is the key to that engine. We
saw what he looks like in those two games when
he was out burst the Pacers and ty Jeromeo like
a normal guy all see all season, looked like he
was gonna get a bag in that playoff series.

Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
He lost all that money.

Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
So that just goes to show the impact Darius Garlett
has playing alongside a guy like Donald Mitchell and Evan Lobley.

Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Next Nick Tyler, hero.

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
Mm Darren Fox.

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
I'm gonna go do Aaron Fox as well.

Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
I know Tyler Herro is coming up with All Star appearents,
but you switch him out and have Tyres or not
Tyre's Daron Fox play with Bam. I don't e think
it's a question. Yeah, Kentucky Kentucky relationship. I don't even
think it's a conversation. This one's gonna be home.

Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
Go ahead before before you said the next player, I
just want to add regarding the Fox at a bio
combination that we saw with the Wildcats, don't be surprised
if we see that again in the NBA one day,
because I don't know if Daran will necessarily get traded
from San Antonio to Miami unless it's a Fox for
Hero trade because Hero could fit better next to Harper.

(01:12:55):
But I feel like they might find a way eventually.
Next name Trey Young, it just got really cold here.

Speaker 3 (01:13:06):
I gotta we've seen Trey Young take it Atlanta Hawks
to the e CF. You don't hear that like when
you hear ecfnythink about the Joe Smith, the Joe Johnson days.
You know, for for him to take him on that
historic run and to run into Giannis, I mean, you
gotta go Trey Young.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
Yeah, I gotta go Trey Young simply for that point
as well. I mean, when Dearon Fox was the number
one guy in Sacramento, they lost in the first round.
They may have lost in the first round because of
a Steph Curry fifty ball that was generational, but they
still lost in the first round. Versus Trey Young willed
his team to the Eastern Conference Finals, and that's nothing
to be scoffed at or forgotten.

Speaker 3 (01:13:40):
I will tell you this, though, Deeron Fox playing in
the East, he has a resume similar to to Trey
Young's All Star wise, I'm not saying teams just as wise,
but if you put him in the East, the West
are just loatued, so he's it's it's really hard for
him to get the All Star knots all NBA, not
because you're playing.

Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Okay, well, I'm sorry. I just wanted to say, hypothetically,
if you put Deeron Fox on the same exact Atlanta
Hawks team alongside Kevin Herder, Clint Capella, the whole squad
that they had that made it to that Eastern Conference finals,
does the Aaron Fox lead that Hawks team to the
Eastern Conference Finals in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 2 (01:14:11):
No, not at all. I'm not saying Dearon Fox is better.

Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
I'm just saying the accolades would look a lot different
if he played in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
Playing in the West, it's hard to.

Speaker 3 (01:14:19):
He made third team All NBA when they were it
was the best season of his career because Samos Sibona's
playing in Sacramento. So playing in Sacramento, you have this
narrative around anywhere. It's just hard to get that spotlight.
Last name LaMelo.

Speaker 4 (01:14:33):
Ball Ooh.

Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
Uh, that's tough.

Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
It's hard because you see the potential of LaMelo ball
They both have the one All Star nod. But when
Labelo was an.

Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
All Star, he was running the show. The Aaron Fox
had the opportunity to run the show. But once the
bonus came and really kind of took his game to
the next level. So now you look at it as
is LaMelo will one hit. Wonder is the Aaron Fox
only good when the culture and the team is running.

Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
So with that being said, I.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Think I'm LaMelo ball I get it, he's injured, but
he single handley took a team to the to the
playing Yeah for the Bonus Fox, we weren't going in
into the play.

Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
You read my mind regarding LaMelo's potential, because I'm gonna
go with dearon Fox because of what we have already seen.
But I understand the LaMelo potential. And when the off
season started and LaMelo's name started getting thrown in trade rumors,
and I think it was it Lonzo who said that
LaMelo was gonna get traded to the Clippers, and so

(01:15:33):
like when we think about LaMelo anywhere else but Charlotte,
it's kind of scary hours. But that's all potential, that's
all hypothetical. And also, if I just think about the
year that each of them have coming ahead of them, Dearon,
next to Wemby has a lot higher ceiling, just as
Dieren as an individual, he has a lot higher ceiling
