Nato a Renazzo, il 28 aprile nel 1916 cresce in un ambiente agricolo dove la madre e il padre lavorano la terra dalla mattina alla sera, oltre ad occuparsi dell'allevamento.
Ma il suo successo, quello per cui viene ricordato ancora oggi, nasce da una frase molto particolare: "Te non sai guidare le mie macchine. Al massimo guidati i tuoi trattori!!"
