Speaker 1 (00:02):
Okay, So the other night I headed along to the
comedy Lounge and I got to check out American comedian
Craig Gas and Chris Kale of course, who was a
guest on our show on Friday, and checked out their
comedy show. Now, Chris Kle kicked off proceedings, and he
is a born storyteller. He has this unique ability to
(00:24):
kind of be able to mix what you would see
of a celebrity if you go along to like a
Supernova or an oz comic con, and mixed that with comedy.
So he got up first and told us a little
bit about some of the stories that he's come across
during his music career with Five Finger Death Punch and
(00:45):
put a little bit of comedy into that as well.
And like I said, it worked because he is a
just a born storyteller. If you've heard their podcast podcast,
Beado and Weird, you would know that Chris is a
phenomenal storyteller and that comes across as well in his
(01:09):
comedy show. And then after Chris, it was Craig Gas's
turn to to come to the stage. Now, it was
a little bit of a weird vibe for Craig. I
think with Chris going first, people were kind of like,
I think the familiar, what's the right way to put this?
(01:31):
I guess the people who were there expecting just a
normal comedy show were kind of in a weird space
after Chris Is set, because, like I said, it was
very much a storytelling kind of set, So there was
a little bit of a weird vibe in the room
when Craig came out, and to hear credit, he addressed it.
But then everything kind of warmed up and Craig hit
(01:54):
full stride. Now Craig for people that don't know out there,
Craig has got a very very rich history in the
US as being a comedian. He is part of the
Howard Stern radio show. He also does a lot of
the impressions that you hear on Family Guy. He played
a fairly prominent character in Sex and the City. He's
(02:18):
a very very widely well respected comedian. So for me
being able to sit there and watch him do a
set was just remarkable, and he was brilliant. He addressed
some of the issues that we've had here in Melbourne
at the moment of couse, the supposed macheti attacks that
(02:41):
are on every corner, which are a little bit of
a Sky News beat up, but Craig was able to
run with that and make a few jokes about that,
which instantly warmed up the local crowd. I think the
crowd might not have been warmed up as quickly had
he just gone into his celebrity stories as well, following
(03:05):
on from Chris. But because he broke that up and
did some local stuff, I think that kind of warmed
it up for everybody, and then he launched into his stories,
which are just absolutely remarkable. He also personalized it by
talking about the fact that his entire family is deaf,
and he was able to get the crowd to laugh
(03:29):
at some things that I guess over the last few years,
over the last decade, we've been told that we're not
allowed to laugh at anymore. But Craig did it with
such a personal touch that it made people feel that
it was okay to laugh at. He told stories from
the Howard Stern Show, he told stories about his long
running feud with Gene Simmons. And the great thing about
(03:52):
Craig is when he tells a celebrity story, he will
actually do the celebrity's voice that he's talking about. When
it's his tributing a line to them or something like that.
So Craig's comedy is just absolutely exceptional. I would wholeheartedly
travel to go and see him do a full set somewhere,
just because I feel here in Melbourne that because it
(04:17):
was a duel night with Chris, we probably didn't get
the full Craig Gas set that you would expect. So look,
I would easily travel to go and see him do
a show somewhere else. But if you ever do see
Craig Gas and Chris Klee's name on a list of
performers at an event, definitely go along and check them
(04:39):
out because they are well worth it. Check out their
Beado and Weirdo podcast as well. Like I said, Craig
is one of the best comedians in the world. He's
great at what he's doing, and Chris Klee is growing
as a comedian as well and really really getting laughs
these days. So if you see him on a build somewhere,
go and check them out.
