Speaker 1 (00:03):
Well, listeners. Now I want to talk about the Harry
Potter exhibition that is on at Fever in Melbourne at
the moment. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you are
going to want along, want to go along and check
this out, because this is an absolutely brilliant exhibition. It's

(00:24):
a lot different, I think, to what I expected. Of course,
last year I did the outdoor experience down on the
Mornington Peninsula, which kind of brought the Forbidden Forest to life.
This time around, it is more of a kind of
exhibition that you would expect to see at ACME, to
be honest. It showcases a lot of the costumes. It

(00:50):
also recreates a lot of the scenes, and there's props
and from the movies and everything there. It is a
pretty amazing exhibition and it's one that I would happily
go back and see again. Now I've got to warn
you first of all, it is a little bit difficult

(01:12):
to get to Fever. It does mention that there's car
parking around there, but you have to remember maybe if
you're going to park, pick your times, because this is
located in kind of an industrial educational area, so on
one side you've kind of got the police compound across

(01:32):
the road, you've got Urt University, so I recommend that
you probably try to go there a time when the
UNI is not in use. It's also the kind of
one you want to plan your trip there because if
you're going to go buy public transport, you either got
to get off at Brunswick or Jewel stations, and it
is a little bit of a walk. It's about ten

(01:54):
minute walk from the station, and if it's raining like
the day that I went, you are going to get drenched.
But look the exhibition and more that makes up for that.
I've got to say. There's so many different things that
you can do. This is kind of an exhibition for
people of all ages. So there's some interactive parts. So
when you go in, you'll be asked to select your house,

(02:16):
select your patronas and things like that, which will come
in handy as you go through the actual exhibition. You
get given a wristband that you can log into different
things during the experience and win points for your house
and things like that. That kind of the exhibition I
felt was more aim towards children. Some of it was fun,

(02:40):
like I've got to admit, even as an adult, I
found myself pretty impressed by the fact that suddenly my
name and everything was appearing on the Marauders map and
stuff like that, but a lot of the other things
it was kind of like, Okay, I've done that, it's over.
I know. One of them was like to cast a
spell for my patronas and it was literally me just

(03:01):
dragging my hand on the screen. That kind of stuff,
I feel is more for for kids. But there's lots
of other stuff throughout, like being able to stand back
and look at the Great Hall and things like that
was just absolutely amazing looking at the different ones that
we used through the Harry Potter and I've also got

(03:22):
to say the Fantastic Beast films. That was the one
part that really impressed me. I'm someone who loves the
Fantastic Beast films as much as I love the Harry
Potter series, So being able to see some of the
costumes and some of the props and everything from Fantastic
Beasts meant a lot to me, because it's not always
that way when you go to a Harry Potter event.

(03:44):
Most of the time Fantastic Beast s gets left off.
So there are some magnificent things that you get to
do you can try your quid it skills. At one point,
repotting a mandrake, I've got to say, was one of
the highlights for me. I love that scene in the movie,
so I found that to be something really really fun.
I don't want to spoil all of the experiences that
are there that they were just some of the highlights

(04:06):
for me. This is one of those exhibitions that I
think I enjoyed because I was kind of walking through
and suddenly finding myself in a room and there was
a recreation of the film, and it was just that
surprise of walking around the corner and finding it there.
So I don't want to take that away from people.
I've shared some of my I've shared some of my

(04:29):
things that I really really enjoyed, and of course, if
you do want some spoilers, you can have a look
at my photos that are online as well. But I
don't really want to go into spoiler territory for people,
because this is one of those exhibitions where I think
that element of surprise is something that you'll enjoy. But look,
I enjoyed looking at the different costumes. I loved reading
about the different costumes as well. Why they had to

(04:52):
use lightweight material on some of them, and why they
went for certain looks for people like Bella and Nimfidora, Like,
there's a long some of her costumes there, and they
talk about why they went for a certain look for them.
I'm kind of glad that they don't just mainly focus

(05:14):
on Harry, Harmoni and Ron. Of course they're lovable characters
and we all love them, but it was great to
be able to walk around and see some of the
costumes for some of the lesser known characters as well.
So look, if you are looking for a fun outing
to do with the whole family, or if you're a
Harry Potter nerd like myself, then definitely go along to

(05:37):
Fever and check out Harry Potter the Exhibition. Like I said,
take note how you're going to get there, because yeah,
Brunswick's not always the easiest place to get to, so
take note how you're going to get there, But it
is well worth the trip of actually going there. So yeah,

(05:58):
head down to the Harry Potter Experience if you're a
Harry Potter fan at Fever, and you definitely will not
be disappointed.
