The surf is serving up some moderate rip current action today with waves ranging from 2 to 4 feet - perfect for experienced surfers but requiring some serious respect. Water temperatures are hovering around a comfortable 70 degrees with mostly sunny skies and those classic southern winds blowing southwest at 15 to 20 miles per hour.
Heads up - wind gusts could hit near 35 mph, so secure those beach umbrellas! The UV index is cranked up to very high, so slather on that sunscreen unless you want to look like a boiled lobster by sunset.
Speaking of sunset, let's talk tides. Jacksonville Beach and St. Augustine will see low tide around 11:20 AM, with high tide rolling in around 5:30 PM. Fernandina Beach and Vilano Beach follow a similar rhythm.
The afternoon might bring a chance of showers after 5 PM, so keep an eye on those skies. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s - hello, summer preview!
Looking ahead, Tuesday cools down dramatically with highs in the lower 70s and north winds around 10 mph. Rip current risk drops to low, and the surf settles to 1 to 2 feet.
Midweek brings more sunny vibes with Thursday promising some bigger 4 to 6 foot waves - surfers, mark your calendars!
