(00:04):
By now, everyone, I wantyou to take a moment to think about
the last time that you truly listento someone. What if your ability to
do so was the difference between lifeand death. In today's matchup, a

(00:28):
twelve year old girl has forged apowerful bond with an ancient extra dimensional being,
learning many things about the creature's worldover the course of several months.
However, the shadowy government agency taskedwith capturing these creatures have their own method
of controlling them, a method thatdoesn't involve listening to a child. My

(00:55):
name is Aaron David Harris, andthis is Tales of Fists and Fireballs.
The mid sized classroom auditorium hosts approximatelysixty newly minted government agents, clad in

(01:19):
plain colored suits and neatly knotted ties. These recruits are young and fresh,
as evidenced by the constant and shallowchatter filling up the room. Undoubtedly,
they are all graduates from some prestigiousmilitary academy or exclusive university. All of

(01:42):
them had been chosen for something specialand highly classified. Suddenly, the wooden
double doors swing open. The chatterstops almost immediately as a woman power walks

(02:06):
her way inside mid fifties, shortgray hair, very serious. This is
Maxine berry Hill. She eyes theroom full of agents as she approaches the
center of the stage, her expressionbrimming with contempt and resentment. Maxine's antipathetic

(02:32):
energy is palpable. She takes adeep, long breath, as if she
were absorbing all the cocky, youthfulenergy out of the room and expelling it
through her nostrils. Then Maxine makesher address. Her haunting voice delivers with

(02:57):
a striking echo. In the lasttwo decades, we have discovered planes of
existence that produce no sound. Livingin these silent dimensions are sentient beings who

(03:19):
use sound waves as a form ofsustenance. These creatures vary in size,
abilities, intelligence, and threat levels, but they all share a common primal
instinct to feed, and so theycome to our world hungry for the sound,

(03:46):
hungry for the noise. Welcome toproject silence. An idyllic constellation of
glimmering stars illuminate the surface of asmall lake, as well as the modest

(04:09):
country home nearby. Contrasting the peacefulimagery are abrasive, chaotic voices emanating from
inside the lake house. A manand a woman argue it is the same

(04:29):
argument. The back door kicks open, a young girl runs out, twelve
years old, brown hair, completelydistraught. Her name is Julia. She
runs to the edge of the lakefrantically wipes her face with her sleeves.

(04:54):
Julia sits by the lake and spendsseveral moments trying to gather herself, and
then she speaks seemingly to herself,Well, I uh got suspended from school,
and big surprise, my parents arein there, blaming each other.

(05:15):
I try to explain, but theydon't listen. No one ever does.
It's the same routine. Dad's offto the bar, Mom is gonna go
to Aunt Laura's, and I'm aloneagain. The next few words from Julia

(05:42):
are a song, A strange song, her meek voice irrupting with something both
powerful and angelic. Me me,Me, And then, rising out of

(07:00):
the bubbling blue green murk of thelake's surface, a creature emerges eleven feet
tall, sandy grayskin, a long, sharp tail, orange glowing eyes.
The creature makes its brooch with slow, heavy footsteps until it reaches Julia.

(07:35):
It kneels in front of her,and she smiles, rubbing its face with
a gentle touch as she continues tosing. The creature's orange eyes flicker with
life, matching the cadence in Julie'svoice. Then suddenly, the creature growls

(08:00):
and turns its head, and Juliastops singing and pets the creature. I
feel it too, someone's here.Don't worry. I won't let them hurt
you. Seconds later, emerging fromthe large trees and thick bushes, clad

(08:35):
in heavy black gear, are theAgents of Project Silence. As they surround
the little girl and the big graycreature. A black car screeches towards the
home. When it stops, anagent opens the back door. Maxine Barry

(08:58):
Hill steps out. She surveys thescene with a pensive expression, her eyes
remaining fixed on the creature for severalmoments. Then, as her attention turns
to Julia, Maxine attempts to softenher severe gaze. Flanked by two soldiers,

(09:22):
Maxine flashes a badge and approaches thegirl. Good evening. My name
is Maxine berry Hill, director ofProject Silence, and you are Julia Beatty,
twelve years old, currently suspended fromHaven Valley Middle School. It would

(09:43):
appear that you have made contact withan SME. SME silent monster entity is
the official designation acronym, but sincewe government types love our alphabet, so
we just say sim And this iss Emy four, of whom we have

(10:11):
been pursuing for quite some time.So here's what's gonna happen. A couple
of my friends here are going toescort you to safety. We will take
SIM four into our custody. Andthat's not his name. Excuse me,
I said that's not his name. His true name translates as Song, his

(10:37):
true name. Why, because that'sthe type of sound the creature fads on.
Song has told me all about you, and I won't let you hurt
him. No one has to gethurt, Julia, not if you cooperate.
We have been monitoring your home forseveral weeks now, and the irony

(10:58):
isn't last on me. Just whenit seems like no one in the whole
world is listening to you, youfind a creature who literally needs your voice
to survive. I get it,I really do. But this relationship you

(11:20):
forged with the same it's wrong,Julia. It's dangerous. Song isn't the
one that's dangerous. You are,you and your agents and your scientists kidnapping
the sound creatures and playing with themin your lags. Song wants you to
let them go, little girl. Our primary objective is the detainment of silent

(11:45):
monster entities. We protect you fromthem now. I'm only gonna say this
once step away from the sme Hm. Noting the defiance in Julia's eyes,

(12:05):
Maxie nods, She's had enough.Have it your way. All units execute
Operation Alpha V six. I wantthat s ume. The quiet home by

(12:39):
the lake rupts. The agents attack, their high powered projectile weapons, whirling
to life, but they're no matchfor Song. The energy blasts from their

(13:11):
guns are ineffective. They bounce offthe creature's skin like rubber bands, popping
against a brick wall. The soldiersclose their distance, cautiously, inging towards
Song, brandishing energy knives and electsshot for tons. They pounce that Song

(13:37):
all at once, but he's toomuch for them, too big, too
fast, too strong. Once allthe soldiers are down, Maxine steps forward,

(14:13):
Bring me the asset. A largetank like vehicle screeches into view.
A handful of Agrians open the doors. Stepping out of the vehicle is another

(14:54):
creature, a bigger, chalky whitedoppelganger of Song with ominous white eyes and
long red spikes protruding from its shouldersand knuckles. Sharp bones shoot up from
the bottom of its head and threwhis chin, locking his face into a

(15:16):
permanent and gruesome smile. Julia's facedrops with dread. Julia, meet Simmy
three. I really didn't want itto come to this, but you have
forced my head. No, that'sScream, Its song's blood rifle. It

(15:45):
feeds on the sound of pain. You can't trust that one. Sure we
can. We have an agreement.Maxine nods at Scream. The vile creature
takes out out one of his spikesand jams it into the collarbone of one
of the soldiers. Scream's body pulsateswith dark red energy as the soldiers agonizing

(16:26):
cries bring life to the creature's body. See how that works. We give
him the sound he needs, andhe does what we tell him to do.
You don't understand, you know,Julia, You are the one who
doesn't understand just how much trouble you'reage. Song Julia aside with a gentle

(17:02):
push from his big hand. Songand Scream approach each other, gazing into
each other's eyes in a silent exchangethat tells the story of a blood feud
that spans generations. Julia whispers toherself, the Song and the Scream the

(17:25):
deadliest of rifles, the alphas ofthe sound dominion. Scream unleashous, a
terrifying sound that discombobulates everyone, includingSong. Scream uses the opening pummeling Song

(18:03):
with heavy punches to the body, his spiky fists digging into Song's abdomen before
Screen lands the final punch. Songevades the attack, then encounters with a

(18:26):
perfect palm strike to the face, but the attack is not effective. Scream's
perpetually twisted smile remains. Then Screamstretches his arms forward, unleashing a thick

(18:48):
stream of dark red energy from hishands that rips through the chest of his
rival. Orange glowing ooze, alongwith the sound of Julia's voice, spills

(19:15):
out of songs open veins as hegoes down. Julia turns her attention to
Maxine, completely disgusted, as Songlies there helpless. How many what Scream

(19:37):
feeds on the sound of pain andterror? How many people did you torture
in order to get him this stronglittle girl? The smart thing to do
right now is to keep your mouthshut. You finish him off now.

(20:00):
Scream charges up dark energy into bothhis hands, then he releases it.
When the blast hits the ground,it transforms into a large column of black
and red energy, fiery and concussive, launching Song high into the air.

(20:26):
When the column fades, Song fallsback to the earth with a hard thump.
Maxine and her agents surround Saul, who is unconscious. All right,
team, let's get this thing ina cage we can. Suddenly, a

(20:52):
spike runs through Maxine Maryhill the secondafter, and Scream removes his fist from
the woman's chest. As she collapsesto the ground. Scream cuts down the
rest of the agents like a wildmachete in a field of tall grass.

(21:26):
Julia, utterly horrified, approaches Maxie. I tried to warn you, Song
and Scream. Their rivalry is centuriesold. Scream was never going to share
its kilt. Then, with blindingspeed, Scream zips in front of Julia,

(21:52):
peering down on her with an evilgrin. Quickly, Scream grabs Julia
by her collar with one hand andlifts her off her feet. Screen glows
with violent energy. You won't needto feed you. Is that what you

(22:15):
want you never, I will neverfeed you. I will never feed you.
And then Julia begins to sing herstrange melody. He and then covered

(23:07):
in horrific scars, Song stands tohis feet. Scream drops Julia, then
throws a spiky fisted song. Thespikes shattered against Song's hard balms for the

(23:27):
first time. Scream cries out.As Scream reels back in pain, Song
jumps high into the air, flippingand tumbling, then stopping mid flight,
his hands glowing with a burning orangehue. He points his hands at Scream,

(23:49):
unleashing a searing beam of light, obliterating his rival into ashes. When
the beam dissipates, Song loses consciousness, free falling from the sky until he

(24:14):
plows into the ground near the lake. Julia runs to him. She takes
him into her arms and caresses hisgrayskin. Song's eyes flicker, his chest
labors, rising and falling in anuneven rhythm. I will I'll find your

(24:41):
friends, I'll set them free.I promise I'm gonna miss you. The
girl sings her strange melody one lasttime as Song takes a final breath.
