A reading from the book of the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah said,
I hear the whisperings of many terror on every side.
Denounce Let us denounce him. All those who were my
friends are on the watch for any misstep of mine.

(08:03):
Perhaps he will be trapped, then we can prevail and
take our vengeance on him. But the Lord is with
me like a mighty champion. My persecutors will stumble, They
will not triumph in their failure. They will be put
to utter shame, to lasting unforgettable confusion. O, Lord of hosts,

(08:31):
you who test the just, who probe mind and heart,
Let me witness the vengeance you take on them. For
to you I have entrusted my cause. Sing to the Lord,
Praise the Lord, for he has rescued the life of
the poor from the power of the wicked, the word

(08:54):

Speaker 14 (11:19):
But the heavens.

Speaker 9 (11:21):
And he heard praise him. The sees and whatever moves said.

Speaker 15 (11:27):
That a reading from the letter of Saint Paul to

(11:57):
the Romans, brothers and sisters. Through one man, sin entered
the world, and through sin death, and thus death came
to all men, inasmuch as all sinned. For up to
the time of the Law, sin was in the world.

(12:18):
Though sin is not accounted when there is no law.
But death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those
who did not sin, after the pattern of the trespass
of Adam, who is the type of the one who
was to come. But the gift is not like the transgression.

(12:43):
For if by the transgression of the one, the many died,
how much more did the grace of God and the
gracious gift of the one man Jesus Christ overflow for
the many.

Speaker 12 (13:00):
The word of the Lord.

Speaker 13 (13:20):
A master sit here, I need to says, try to so.

Speaker 16 (14:32):
The Lord be with you and with your reading from
the Holy Gospel. According to men Or, Jesus said to
the twelve fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will
not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.
What I say to you in darkness, speak in the

(14:54):
light what you hear whispered, proclaim on the rooftops. And
do not be afraid of those who kill the body,
but do not kill the soul. Rather be afraid of
the one who can destroy both soul and body. And
Gehinna are not sparrows soul for a small coin, Yet

(15:17):
not one of them follow the ground without your Father's knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
So do not be afraid.

Speaker 16 (15:28):
You are worth more than many sparrows. Everyone who acknowledges
me before others, I will acknowledge it before my heavenly father.
But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before
my heavenly Father. The Gospel of the Lord.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
H good morning.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Well, I don't know if you grasped hold of the
other almost there's a theme that runs through all the
readings today. But that the theme is that one of
those nice themes about fear. And of course you know,
all you do is have to turn the TV on today.
I mean, in our society, in our world today, there's
you know, there's the fear of terrorism, there's the fear

(16:33):
of of the Koreans, there's the fear of uh there's
also what you name it, and it's got you like
it'll it'll get you nervous. And we hear the symbol
not only of fear in the Old Testament, because that
the first reading was from Jeremiah. And of course Jeremiah
is telling telling the Israelite community. He's saying that the

(16:55):
Babylonians are right around the edge, they're going to be
taking us over. You got to change your act, don't
be fearful, put your faith in the Lord. And you
know what happened there They didn't and of course the
Babylonians just almost annihilated, took.

Speaker 17 (17:14):
Them as legs.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
And that's exactly what he is he's warning them about,
because he says, don't let that let that fear control you.
And that's exactly what we hear here in the Gospel
today as well. Jesus is telling he's sending his disciples.
This is right after you just send his his names,
his disciples, and he said he's sending them out, and
he says, do not fear.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Put your trust in me.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Now mind you, fear is a little good for us
every once in a while, you know, fear keeps you
from running arout, walking out and right in front of
the cars, right because you you know what what the
what the what the possibility is. I've lost many a
dog to that I have you with Fear puts puts

(18:00):
us in an understanding of what's good and what's bad.
But also we can be controlled, we can over take
care of it to an overabundance and have it all
control our lives. And that's what's certainly not what Jesus
is telling us. We have put our trust in God.
I have sat in many a hospital room with dying patience,

(18:23):
some form good friends that I can look at them
and as they were trying to breathe, gasping for air,
can see the fear in their eyes and my and
I was all my job to console them, to make
certain that they that they saw the love of God,
that they realized that no matter what, if you're with

(18:45):
the Lord, if you are and you are with the Lord,
to remember you have no fear for the unknown. No,
have no fear for what may happen. I as you
may some of you may know I've been some recent travels.
I have several airplane trips and everything else in the

(19:07):
past couple of weeks, and I tell you, I've had
some real bad cases with some of the air flights
because some of the weather has been horrendous, so you know,
flights missed, bumpy rides. You could see the looking on
the white knuckles of some of the people that were
sitting beside you. Have you ever been on one of

(19:31):
those flights several years ago? I remember, let me tell
you something. Several years ago, I was on a flight
and we were flying over the Grand Canyon and all
of a sudden, this was quite several years. It shows
you how old I am, because this is when they
would serve you dinner, and everybody had this tray of

(19:53):
food on their plate and our plane dropped like that.
Every all the food went up into the air and
hit the ceiling and came.

Speaker 17 (20:03):
Down on all of us.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
And here's the people were screaming like anything. I was
there laughing.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
I don't know why, because if you can't laugh at
these things, and it's like, oh, okay, would the person.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Be saying, we're can I die?

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Can I die?

Speaker 4 (20:22):
And I remember so vividly. I said, oh, we aren't, No,
we aren't. But the fact is is that so many
times we get.

Speaker 17 (20:31):
So fearful and that controls our lives.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
And Jesus is turning to us and saying, you know,
there's so many bad things that happened in the world.
We go through them over and over again. But how
many times does does the Lord see us through? And
even those times when when they are difficult, and then
when they and we don't seem to think that we well,
we really had to suffer, we had to really struggle.

(20:58):
We seem to sometimes for get that God was there
as well. There's a beautiful song out I and every
time I think think of fear, I always think of
this song. It's a it's a some of the one
of the Christian artists, of the artists of Mercy me
and it's called Fear. And he and they talk the
gentleman talks about he talks about it on stage. He's

(21:20):
there trying to help the needy. And then but right now,
who's not. He doesn't feel comfortable, he's he has questions,
he has hurts, he has fear, and but then he
has he sings the song.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
He says he proceeds to say, but you know, even
though I'm.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Struggling, even though I'm having difficulties, I know you're with me, Lord,
I know it, and I hold on to that.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
I realize that.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
And that's it's a beautiful song because it certainly puts
it into perspective. So many times where we as as Christians,
we get so scared, we get fearful to the point
where we we we were saying where are you Lord?
And deep down inside we have to we have to
pull out that that faith in our in our hearts
and says, I know you're here. I know you're with me,

(22:11):
and I know no matter what, you will protect me,
not him, maybe just here on this earth, but in reality,
I will be with you in heaven. And that's, let's
face it, when we face death, that's exactly what we
were called to do, to look at ourselves and say,

(22:31):
where is my relationship with God? So many times we
go through all sorts of things we see are so
busy for trying to protect our lives that we seem
to forget about our soul, our spiritual life. And that's
a reminder to us. Those difficult moments are a reminder to.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Us what's most important in our lives.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Jesus is speaking about this in is talk to the disciples,
because he realizes that any of those disciples are going
to go out into the world and proclaim the good
news and.

Speaker 17 (23:05):
Die for it.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
But he says, be strong, know that I'm with you
to the end of time, and to remember that. And
that's a call for all of us.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
It's a call for all of us to take hold
of that that fear cannot control us.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Because we are on God's side. What a beautiful statement.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
What a beautiful understanding about life, because let's face it,
it goes like that.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Let us profess that faith.

Speaker 18 (23:54):
Now.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, Maker of
heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Begod,
the Son of God, born of the Father before all ages,
God from God, Life from Light, true God, from true

(24:18):
God Begotten, not made unsubstantial with the Father. Through him,
all things were made for us men, and for our salvation.
He came down from heaven by the Holy Spirit, was
in carnival of the Virgin Mary, and became man for
our sake. He was crucified on your conscious pirate. He

(24:39):
suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the
third day. In accordance with the scriptures, he ascended into
heaven and deceived at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living,
him the dead, and his keeping them all had and away.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the paper

(25:00):
of life, the proceeds of the Father of the Son.
With the Father and the Son, he is fortunate. He
has spoken to the prophets. I believe in one holy
Catholic and Astolic Church. I confess one baptism for the
forgiveness of sins, and I look forward to the resurrection
of the God and the Life. Let us bring our

(25:26):
prayers and petitions before our God, who has taken away
our fears, giving us the confidence and courage to pray.

Speaker 16 (25:34):
That the Church may have the courage to witness to
Christ in every part of the world, regardless of the
obstacles in front of us. We pray to the Lord, Lord,
your prayer for world leaders who value the lives of
all the people whose lives they have been entrusted, especially
the poorest, and they alienated to up by our society.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
It is truly right and just, our duty and our
salvation always into everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father,
or my keen eternal God, for you laid the foundations
of the world, and have arranged the changing of times
and seasons, and formed man in your own image, and
send humanity over the whole world in all its wonders

(31:14):
to rule.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
In your name.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
Over all you have made forever praise you and in
your mighty works through Christ, our Lord. And so with
all the angels we praise you, as in joyful celebration.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
We acclaim.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
You are indeed holy a Lord, and all you have
created rightly gives you praise for through your son, our Lord,
Jesus Christ, for the power and working of the Holy Spirit.
You give life to all things and make them holy.
And you never cease to gather a people to yourself,
so that from the rising of the sun to its setting,

(32:49):
a poor sacrifice may be offered to your name. Therefore, Lord,
we humbly employ you by the same spirit, Graciously make
holy these these gifts we have brought to you for consecration,
that they may become the body and blood of your son,
Our Lord, Jesus Christ, whose command we celebrate these mysteries.

(33:13):
For on the night he was betrayed, he himself took bread,
and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the
bread and gave it to his disciples, saying, take this
all of you, and eat of it, for this is
my body which will be giving up for you. In

(34:02):
a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice.
I'm giving you thanks, he said the blessing, and gave
the chalice to his disciples, saying, take this all of
you and drink from it, for this is the chalice
of my blood, the blood of the New and eternal Covenant,
which will be poured out for you and for many

(34:23):
for the forgiveness of sins.

Speaker 17 (34:26):
Do this in memory of me, Oh mister ria faith.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Therefore, a Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the
saving passion of your son, his wondrous resurrection and ascension
into heaven, and as we look forward to his second coming,
we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice.

Speaker 17 (35:37):
Look, we pray upon the.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Oblation of your church and recognizing the sacrificial victim by
whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself, grant
that we, who are nourished by the body and blood
of your Son and filled with His Holy Spirit, may
become one body, one spirit in Christ. May He make
of us an eternal offering to you, so that we

(36:00):
may obtain an inheritance with Your elect, especially with the
most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph,
He's spouse, with your blessed Apostles and glorious Mantyrs, and
with all the saints on whose constant intercession in your
presence we rely for unfailing help. May this sacrifice of

(36:20):
our reconciliation, we pray, O, Lord, advance the peace and.
