Talking Songs out has bought to youby the fourth figure just getting network.
You know, I hate the brag, but I did win eleven straight gold
gloves. I wouldn't have brought itup, but since you mentioned it,
I didn't mention it. Well Iwant him anyway. Well, so what
I mean you played first base?I mean they always put the worst player
(00:24):
at first base. That's where theyput me, and I stunk we lane.
You don't know the first thing aboutfirst base. Well, I know
something about getting to first base, and I know you'll never be there.
Oh me, I figure it.I've already been there. I plan on
round a second tonight at around eleveno'clock. Well, i'd watch the third
(00:50):
base coach if I were you, because I don't think he's waving you in.
(01:11):
Welcome to Talking Seinfeld, the podcastwhere we discuss everything we know about
the show about nothing. This week, we are here to review one of
the most iconic episodes of Seinfelt ofall time. Definitely one of the gross
definitely one of my favorites. It'sa two parter and we're gonna be doing
both parts here today. It isThe Boyfriend Parts one and two. I
am Dando and I am guying,Yes, we are doubling up today and
(01:34):
not only a favorite of Dando's,favorite of mine, favorite of one,
Jerry sone fans Yes Yeah, andKeith and And as one of Joe Seinfeld's
most favorite baseball players of all time. He said he was incredibly nervous going
into this, and I love howhis real life reaction to meeting Keith and
As he said, he looked inthe closet and he was like, what
am I gonna wear? I'm meetingKeith Ands today. That's basically the story.
(01:56):
I just I thought that was justso funny because that's what it's like.
We often say, oh, they'rejust people, but then when you
come the potential to come face toface with one of your heroes, it's
like, what do I say? What do I where? What do I
do? It's so nerve racking. But I just thought Jerry just absolutely hit
it out at the ballpark pun intendedwith this performance here with Keith. Nanez
(02:17):
thought it was so great. You'reabsolutely right, and look, focusing on
the clothing was a very smart moveon Jerry's part. I mean, because
because you're one correct and that youknow you are thinking about what you're gonna
say and how you're going to presentyourself. But really how you address is
such a big deal, whether it'san actual first romantic date or a mate
(02:39):
date like the like he's got withKeith here by the way, big shout
out to Keith Nandez a very likablenatural screen presence. I thought, did
a really really good job playing KeithNandez. Do you know what I mean,
Playing yourself not necessarily all that easy. I think you've seen people who
(03:00):
have like, hey, it's soand so playing themselves and I know they're
kind of stiff and a bit awkward. And Keith just I won't say he
fit right in. I mean,it's clear that he acting is not his
first first skill, but I don'tknow. He just he blended him very
(03:21):
very nicely. I thought, yeah, he didn't. He didn't stand out
like a guest star. He stundedout like a famous person who's now on
Seinfeld. Yeah it wasn't because sometimeshe said he get guest stars. I'm
just like, you can tell thatthey stand out because ay who they are,
but be when you put them nextto you know, really good actors,
as like, oh, he's notas good and they stand out performance
wives. Like he said, Keithjust felt like he just seems like a
(03:43):
yeah, nice guy. Yeah, just just of course Elaine likes of course
likes him. He just seems likea lovable guy. And he watched the
documentaries and stuff Keith and enders justseems like a great person. He just
seems like a lovely guy. Well, I'm thinking of the Simpsons episode that
has all the guest stars who aresporting stars, the baseball one, the
softball one. No, no,no. It had them with Homer,
(04:09):
Yes, from this yeah, Homerand hail Mary passed whatever it was from
season sixteen. Yes, yeah,And look none of them embarrassed themselves either,
but they weren't asked to do agreat deal. But you can tell
us something. Is this the wayI was supposed to say this line?
Okay? Fine? Also too, they probably weren't recording it with the cast
either, so you know, whenyou're on set feeding off the energy and
(04:30):
also helps. Maybe it's a littleeasier, maybe it's a little more difficult.
Who can tell. But all weknow is that, as you said,
yes, I'm going to borrow thatpun as well. Keith knocked it
down to the park. Good jobon his part, but you know,
I think pretty much everyone was firingon all cylinders over this two part or
it was a it was a reallyfun episode. You can tell they realized
(04:51):
ak because I didn't know who Keithand Endez was growing up. Still,
if you said to me, who'sKeith Anandez, I say, he's the
guy from Side And that's what Keithsaid. He goes so many people from
a generation who are a bit youngertwo who don't remember him being baseball player.
It's like, oh, it's theguy that kissed Elane. That's the
guy that Jerry was jealous over.Is the guy from Seinfeld. So to
(05:12):
my generation, he's kind of like, who aren't in America? He is
the guy from Seinfeld, But apparentlyhe was one of the biggest baseball players
of all time, one of thegreatest players of all time. Now they
always talk about their Game six inthe episode. So he's like, it's
kind of like Gary Ablett here forGeelong fans, like, you know,
we just we idolize the guy herein the AFL in Australia. But like
they realized the cast getting this guyon is a big deal. Everyone's going
(05:34):
to be talking about it. It'sa one hour episode, but Aaron Part
one and Part two together because therewas too much to fit into half an
hour. But you couldn't cut itdown to half an hour. You know,
you do it, Larry Davis says, sometimes you get episodes where it's
like it's a bit too long,so we just kind of bit and we
fit it into half an hour. This one it was like it's too long,
but you know, we're gonna adda little bit more and push it
(05:55):
too that hour because we can't cutany of this stuff. And that's where
they slotted in the Elaine or andthe JFK thing and things like that,
which we'll get to an a momentwhich I think is just incredible. But
the yeah, you can tell thatthe cast realized this is a big deal.
We need to hit this, hitout the ball part. We need
to make the most of the situation. We're gonna have a lot of eyeballs
on us for this episode. Let'smake sure we absolutely nail it. And
(06:16):
like you said, they all did. They all had but they all had
really good stories though. That's thething. Yeah, we can't use hitting
it out of the barking and Okay, mos done. They finished, But
you're right in terms of yeah, they expanded the Hernandez storyline about as much
as they could. You know, they didn't overstuff it. It feels just
(06:39):
right as it is, and you'reright, I mean it wouldn't. It
wouldn't fit in a traditional single episode, so they do have to expand.
What they've surrounded it with, thoughis not filler. It's all killer.
I mean, all all the stuffabout George's working so hard to hold onto
(06:59):
the doll, hold onto his unemploymentand shows, or the baby stuff or
what have you. Yeah, it'sit's all great. I thought the baby
stuff was the weakest point of theepisode. It's not substantial, there's nothing
to it, but it's just very, very funny because something I've written here
and it looked it's it's in oneof my favorite parts. But I'm just
going to cut do it anyway becauseI've got other favorite parts that we can
talk about. Some founds a verysmart show. You know, it's put
(07:23):
together by smart people and it's quoteunquote intelligent comedy. But one of the
smartest things about it is that itrealizes nothing is funnier than a funny walk
or a funny voice, you know, I mean you could sort of you
know, oh gosh, yes, that was very intelligent comedy. How droll
women ninety nine you'll do that onetime out of one hundred. The other
(07:46):
ninety nine times you're gonna go youhave gab to see the baby, and
you'll just start laughing at that, because there's nothing funnier than someone who has
a funny voice. And you know, this episode, it's not just not
just the parents or the mother ofthe child, but you know, also
also m Carrie, who George youknow, ends up sort of forcing himself
(08:11):
to go out on a date withand then it gets dumb, has it?
She has kind of it? Yeahthat's great, George, Yeah like
you George. Yeah, yeah,it's fantastic. So yeah, it's something
that I really really enjoyed about theepisode. How they I'm loath to say
padded it out him because it doesn'tfeel like padded at all. It just
(08:31):
feels like, no, this isa just a well stuffed episode. Yeah,
well padded. And I really likehow the stand up tended to play
into the story as well. Sowe start off the stand up about trying
to um was it was? Itwas what was the first time it was
it making friends? I know, the health club getting fit, they're working
out, you're getting fit in orderto be able to be fit. Basically.
(08:52):
I like that play. But Ilove the stand up about trying to
make friends. Like making a friendwhen you're a guy, it's impossible,
you know, when you're when you'rean adult, you just can't do it.
It's like, it's like, yousound like a lovable guy, but
you know what, it's just notgonna work out when you're take We're not
taking any new applicants, right,Yeah, but it like when you're a
kid, though, get out thefront. You're at the front of my
house. We're friends now. That'sexactly what it was like. But yeah,
the whole Jerry becoming friends with ahero of his I just thought that
(09:16):
the whole bounce him being nervous what'she gonna wear, and then becoming jealous
of a Lane because she you don'teven know who he is, Like,
like, that's exactly how people wouldrespond if I was friends of a girl
and she started dating this guy,and it's the fact that he canceled on
Jerry to be of e Lane. That's what started all But Jerry's jealousy.
As we said, Jerry Seifer thishe's really found his rhythm now with his
(09:37):
role on the show, and someof the writers that they know how to
write for Jerry now. But theway he fed off of Keith and Nander's
in the lane, just everyone inthis episode I thought was so good.
And I love I heard the storythat at the end, because you got
the George moment where he falls overflattened his face, pants around his ankles
and he walks in and he says, and you want to be my LATEX
salesman? That was improvised. Ohperfect. Yeah. So it's the first
(10:00):
time where it really felt like youwere watching like a legendary television show.
We've had great episodes before now,but this one felt like, Okay,
you're watching something that's going to betalked about for decades. All the pieces
are falling into place, absolutely, and they had they had before certainly.
But yeah, it's hard to thinkof a false note in this exactly,
or they're meaning a bum note anywherealong the line. I don't think they
(10:24):
do. And Julius said that shedidn't even really know who Keith Endez was
it she knew it was a greatbait, like she knew of him.
But she said, all the guyslike it's like, she goes, well,
I'm filming this scene with him,and I'm playing off like I'm flirting
with him. Blah blah blah, which was fantastic. That flirting scene is
in one of my favorite moments.I thought it was so great. But
she said, all the guys ina set, I just like watching offset
off camera going oh my god.As Keith Nandez, they couldn't believe that
(10:46):
Keith Hernandez was here on this show. And Jerry has said by this point
here that he met a lot ofcelebrities. You know, it was a
really popular show at this time.He met a lot of celebrities, and
you realize, yeah, it's notthat important, not that exciting anymore.
And then Keith and Endez comes around. He's like, I was just I
just didn't know what to do.And Keith has said that Jerry was just
speechless for the first two or threedays around him. The guy just didn't
know what to do. I justthink that's so cute. It's kind of
(11:09):
adorable that you know someone you know. Because Seinfeld, I think has to
be has to have been relatively wellknown as a stand up, but even
before he gets his show, theshow lifts him to another level. So,
you know, here's a guy who'sclearly not short of confidence. Yeah
for him to, yeah, beturned into a little bit of a fanboy
(11:30):
by someone who's one of the best, one of the best of what they
do. Yeah, it's sweet andkind of funny as well. You know
what I also liked, I thoughtit was quite clever is the way they
had a big star like Keith herNandez endorse Jerry Seinfeld and the show at
the beginning. So when he comesin and says, I'm a big fan
of you, comedy very often toget like that plays into the story,
(11:52):
but they wrote it in such away that ate places into the story.
But be it's also this big, huge star coming onto your show and endorsing
the show to the view who mightnot have watched the show beforehand. They
might only be watching for the firsttime because they're baseball fans. But then
when the biggest baseball player of thattime one is saying, hey, I'm
a fan of this guy, youshould be too, It's going to be
a massive plus. Right Giving theseal of approval. Yeah, absolutely,
(12:16):
Oh my goodness, it's like,oh, okay, Keith Nander says,
okay, it's okay me yeah, yeah, And then we haven't even discussed
the JFK thing yet. It's definitelyone of my favorite moments in all of
Seinfeld. And they discuss this inthe Inside Look and I at it my
notes as well. You know,a show has hit the mark and is
absolutely just hitting firing on all cylinders. When you can take such a national
(12:37):
tragedy and turn it into comedy withthe assassination of JFK, that's the thing
that's you know, even to thisday, it's felt in America. People
don't like to laugh people people willnever laugh at it. But they managed
to get a parody of the assassinationof JFK and make it one of the
most iconic moments in the history ofthis comedy series. I think it's just
(12:58):
absolute genius the way they handed it. Well, the all of the Stone
movie JFK had been out, whendid this episode here? This is that's
the reason that they made this therebecause Wayne Night was in the film same
yea. But the j Yeah Stone'sfilm JFK really sort of brought it back
(13:18):
into the public consciousness in a bigway, and not just you know,
the whole legend of JFK and theKennedy's and Camelot and all that kind of
stuff, but the whole investigation andthe commission and then the court hearing and
the back into the Left, allthat kind of stuff. It was very
much on people's lips in the inthe early nineties. And yeah, I
mean back into the Left became nota catchphrase, but certainly a recognizable phrase
(13:45):
for a while. I mean, and you could use it as a bit
of a punchline. So you're rightin terms of it's pretty funny how they
repurposed JFK for for comedy. Yeah, but it's also you know, they're
they're riding that zeitgeist wave of everybodyhad of k Fever. Yeah, because
that came out in ninety one,and this would have added in what I
said late ninety two. This addedearly nine two February twelve, ninety nine
(14:07):
two. Yeah, So Tom Leopold, I wanted the stuff of Seinfeld saw
that way Knight was in the filmplaying a character called Numa, and it
was just like way Night's just like, what are the odds that I'm playing
somebody called Numa and then I'm playingNewman on Seinfeldt. I had brought him
back for that, But just theacting I loved. But nice game,
(14:28):
Pretty Boy. Just yeah, justthat slow motion look of night. It's
like, Oh, you look likethe kind of guy who'd sledge a sportsman
after a after a game, youknow, if your team went down or
whatever, if the you know, the result didn't go your way, you'd
you'd be that kind of person, wouldn't. Yeah. Yeah, And then
the way that when Kravit gets hitand I said I'm hit and it shows
(14:50):
him like screaming I'm here that itkills me every time. That even the
use of that that that's super eightfootage, like it's the Sopreuter film from
the Ja Assassination's just a really nicetouch. I mean, I won't say
that Sine felt so far has beenthat visually imagined of a show. There's
only so much you could do witha with a half hour sitcom in the
early nineties, but yeah, forthem to throw that kind of thing and
(15:13):
it's like, it's a nice touch. Yeah, it felt like this episode
was really put together with affection andcare. Yeah, and that's not the
disparaging of the episodes that have gonebefore, but it's like, I think
we've really got something good here.Let's you know, really, let's make
(15:33):
it a team ethod guys, becauseif you do that flashback and it's just
the standard usual visual of the ofthe sitcom or be HD now, but
just the usual, you know, clear vision, it wouldn't be as memorable
because it has that flashback. Whenyou even to see a screenshot of it,
you're like, oh, yeah,it's the it's the boyfriend, it's
the it's the spinning episode, butjust the nast game pretty boy. And
(15:54):
then it's just it slays me.Now let me ask you something. Yeah,
I don't think we've ever does Seinfeldusually have the title of the episode.
This is the only one that everdoes it. So it feels like
an event. It does, doesn'tit. Yeah. When I saw that,
I'm like, that's nice, different, unusual. So yeah, it's
(16:15):
again I think that indicates, yeah, we're proud of this one goes Yeah,
And I honestly do think this wouldhave to be top ten episodes of
all time. It's it's just soit's just great thing about it is,
you know, you're referencing JFK andthings like that, and a, I
know that the jksassination is something that'sjust generational, but they were referencing the
(16:37):
film in particular, the ninety onefilm. Even though that's that whole scene
still feels relevant and funny today. It's not like it's not it doesn't feel
dated by any means. It's justabsolutely love it. It's yeah, it's
not like a vanillarized cameo or something, you know, I mean, or
something some early other sort of earlynineties kind of signifia or whatever. No,
(17:00):
No, it feels natural and relevantand yeah and right and yeah it's
still yeah, plays well to thisday. If you're a fan of everything

Slash four figure discount link is inthe description of this podcast. That
is a good one. Still, what were your favorite moments from the Boyfriend?
Well, I think we've already reallymentioned a couple I mean, I
I've sort of talked about how, yeah, there's really nothing funnier than a
(17:45):
funny voice. I think that's Ithink that's very, very true. We
also talked about George running out ofthe toilet with his pants around his ankles,
just falling flat and just a grasicsitcom moment, doesn't it It really
does. Yeah, yeah, Imean almost a little low brow that in
a that you maybe wouldn't expect fromSinfield, But it also fits as well.
I mean, just just by virtueof Jason Alexander being very, very
(18:07):
funny but also just kind of uninhibited. You know, he'll he'll do It's
not the kind of needy humors likeI'll do anything for a joke, but
it's like if you are if youask Jason Alexander to do something as George.
I don't think there's many things hewouldn't do. I think he could,
you know, I think he's willingto humiliate himself for the sake of
(18:32):
comedy, for the psake of comedy, for the sake of a good gag.
Why I think that moment works sowell too as a viewer and as
an audience member, is that justprior they had Jerry answered the phone and
Vandale Industry's right, So it's like, everything's going to plan. You know,
it's gonna happen. It's gonna workout for George. George as a
character's relaxed enough to go to thetoilet, So as a view you're like,
yeah, yeah, it's gonna workit for George. You don't see
(18:53):
it coming. So Cramer just sortof sits down in the phone rings and
all of a sudden, you gooh. A view, you go oh,
and as and George is the samereaction that the viewers giving you,
like oh. And that's what makesit so funny because it sort of catches
you off guard because you're relaxed becauseyou've just seen Jerry making it, see
that everything's going to plan, butthen it doesn't. It's part of the
genius of sun Felt, really, because you would think, oh, it's
(19:17):
well, it's not going to gowell for George. It never goes well
for George. Of course this isgoing to fuck up somewhere along the line
somewhere, and it does, butyou're still kind of shocked or surprised by
it and amused by it when ithappens, like oh, I mean,
of course you saw it coming, but you didn't see it coming. Yeah,
yeah, it catches you off guard. Its white work so well,
and then Jerry walking in with theimprov and you want to be my lating
(19:37):
salesman. It's just like the absolutebest kicker. But yeah, anything else
that you liked, I had onethat I well actually too, that I
really liked. And they're both goodto see my girl Julia Louis Dryfus.
There's one bit where they're at thebar, Lane and Keith and and isn't
surrounded by clearly all these sports starsor people or fans or the fans.
Yeah yeah, yeah, but kicksclearly really telling one of his stories about
(20:00):
you know, oh it's one outsix. Wasn't he talking about game six?
He was talking about game six?Yeah? Uh, And Julia Louis
Drivers does this sort of ooh,I just I loved it because I thought
it was at least but also justremind him of something that lovely Luise would
do. If I'm sort of tellingyou story, Oh so yeah, I
(20:22):
really love that. But I findsomeone who looks at you like a Lane
looks at Keith Rnandez. Indeed, indeed, but it's just another bit after
the after they've had the dates andJerry's sort of grilling e Lane about well,
you know, did you did youkiss? All this kind of stuff.
I think it was like they weretalking about, oh, did you
have milk or something? And thene Lane says something like cookies, So
(20:47):
yeah, that we that were Thatwas some of my favorite bits. But
you know, it's hard to pickfavorites out of this episode. Out of
these uh, this big ass episode, there's so much the tushe um.
Well. I really loved the thirteenscene, as I mentioned earlier, just
the way that she plays along withit. Julia has a way of making
you buy into like you forget you'rewatching a performance here like she does you
(21:08):
watch it here like I'm watching Julialu Driver's flirt with this man like like
there's like she's so good that youdon't think she's acting. She's so great
just to look her mannerisms and justher delivery, like this's just she's just
so sexy. Oh yeah. Andthen we got as we discussed the magic
Lugie story and then Jerry being annoyedthat he hasn't called it's been three days.
(21:34):
Then Jerry being. They played Jodeup like he was a another female
friend of Elaine, just the wayquote quote women would react with a guy
doesn't call them back. Guide usthis just I love this episode. It's
so great. Well, just thatrecurring line, Jerry, he's a guy?
Could you spell that? Please? No? Next question? All right,
(21:55):

Jerry's you mentioned Jerry doing a bitabout a bit of stand up about making
friends. What is the drink thebest friends drink when they're little. I
(23:45):
didn't pick up on you drink? You drink this? I drink this?
Is it? Orange juice? Cherrysoda? Cherry soda? Okay? Friends?
How many hours a day does Jerrysay that George sleeps? Eighteen hours?
Yes? Great? Um? Whatis the phone number of vander Lay
(24:07):
Industries? Ka something? I dohave my notes coming by the finding it?
What is it? KL five eightthree eight three eight three A three?
When was the game six mets Phillies? Oh? What do you mean
the date? Oh god? Becausethey say nothing I was. Oh wait,
I'm haven't got the gaming. Maybethis is when the incident happened.
(24:30):
Maybe that's when the incident happened.Yes, sorry, Oh damn it.
I should have written this down.Um, okay, I'm just gonna throw
a hail Mary pass here to usea mixed sporting metaphor. August eighteenth.
It was June fourteenth, nineteen eightyseven. I think there might have been
when the spitting incident happened. BecauseI'll tell them the story Mets Phillies June
fourteenth, nineteen eighty seven. What'syour next one? When Jerry is doing
(24:53):
some stand up and talking about peoplecoming to see babies, why don't they
come and see older people? Howmuch does Grandpa way? Now it's seventy
pounds. It was one hundred andsixty eight pounds. Sixty pounds. My
wife thought seventy pounds. Seventy poundsnot much? All right? What is
the name that Jerry gives himself asan employee of Vanderley Industries. He is
(25:15):
cal Vanson? Correct, very hardname to say, cal Vanson. It's
just it's I keep thinking it's Carl. Yeah. Um, he's a noted
superman. Appreciated Jerry. I wonderif that's got to anything to a call
l possibly? Yeah, maybe? Can I ask you a question? Yeah?
(25:36):
Okay? What is the name justsurname of the woman handling George's unemployment
benefits? What is the surname ornat? What is it? She is
missus? So cool? So cole? All right? My final question is
how many pieces is Keith's couch? It's a twelve piece sectional, yes,
(25:56):
twelve piece, Yes, that wasone might as well? So let's call
it today on trivia. All rightthen, so that is trivia for the
Boyfriend. We'll be right back guysafter this short break with our review of
the episode. If you feel likehaving yourself a time, then check out
our new podcast, Going Down toSouth Park. Will be go back and

Friends fan I know, so whobetter to help me as we revisit every
(26:41):
single episode of the show, discussingthe characters, fashion trends, and how
this iconic series still relates to ourlives to this day. But One of
Our Friends is available now on iTunes, Spotify, or wherever you find your
podcasts. The original airdate of TheBoyfriends Parts one and two because air together,
was February twelfth, nineteen ninety two. It was written by Larry David
(27:03):
and Larry Livin and directed by TomSharonez. Yeah. The episode kicks off
with some stand up with Jerry discussingin the health club, knowing how we
put our dirty laundry away and wetry and keep it all locked up and
padlocked away, and also discussing gettingfit just so we can work out,
So we work out, so thatwe can work out. Starts off with
Jerry and George and Kramer in thechain room arguing over a basketball game.
(27:27):
Is that what it was? Well, there's dribbling, so yeah, I'm
assuming. Yeah, it's basketball wideo't I was wide open underneath. I
had three inches on that guy.Do you two were hogging the ball?
Me? It wasn't me. Inever even saw the ball. All you
do is dribble. I have todribble. If I give it to you,
you just shoot. You're a chucker, chuck, that's right. Every
(27:48):
time you get the ball, youshoot. You believe you called me a
chucker. No way, I'm achucker. I do not chuck, never
chuck, never chuck, never willchuck. No chuck your chuck. Cramer
remi a chucker. Oh you're aChucker' a chucker? All these years have
been chucking. You never told me. Well, it's not an easy thing
(28:10):
to bring up. You know, this is the first time we ever saw
each other naked. Believe me,I didn't see anything. Oh you didn't
sneak a peek, now, didyou? Yeah? I snuck a peek?
Why why not? What about you? George? Yeah? If I
(28:33):
have an issue with the episode, and it's a very very small one,
it's that whole bit with George sayingI don't chuck, never chucked, never
will chuck. It's like that's abit written. It feels so early Signfeld,
doesn't it? It does, doesn'tit. Yeah, it's like I
think you're trying a bit hard tomake fair ch happen there. But look
it's over and done with fairly quickly, and you know it has a good
(28:55):
payoff later on down the line aswell. It's gonna say they needed something
to pay off with so he knowswho George is. But but yeah,
I was watching this guy and yeah, this feels like it feels like a
curb your enthusiasm kind of line whereit's just like Larry David just likes to
drill certain words into your mind becausethat's just what he found funny that day.
But yeah, it's not terrible byany means, but you know,
what, do you tell me?I was a checker. It was not
an easy thing to bring up.And then this was actually great, so
(29:21):
that this is the first time I'veseen each other naked. Well you looked.
Yeah, I stuck a peak,and George a little. I didn't
see anything. It was a blurwent past so quickly, But yeah,
I stuck a peak. It remindedme because I'm at the Guns N' Roses
concept last Saturday here and here inMelbourne. I'm in Julya, Melbourne,
That's where it was, and I'mat the urinal and I'm thinking, I'm
(29:42):
wizzen. I'm thinking, I wonderif any of these guys next to me
right next I watched I did thereview notes before I went to Melbourne.
I was like, I wonder ifany of these guys are stuck a peak.
I mean, when I am payingat a urinal, I am straight
ahead. You never ever ever likedeviation, because if you turn your head
at all at a urinal, bigtrouble. It's just it's an unwritten law.
(30:06):
You do not peak at a urinal. I mean, I wouldn't look
at a guy wiz in anyway, but you know what I mean, like
you just you don't peak. I'msure there are people who that might be
their thing, but no, itis the unwritten law of the urinal that
young eyes straightforward. Having said that, I mean, I was thinking about
I don't know the first time thatI probably saw some of my friend's naked,
Like you know, when I wasat school and you have to you
know, hit the showers or whatever. Changing Yeah, yeah, oh well,
(30:30):
pubid. He's hitting faster for someof the other and slower for some.
So meanwhile some of us are juststanding up on the seats, windmilling
around. Whish I was hanging outwith your buddies. That sounds like it
sounds like good times. But youknow, a nice little bit of locker
room banter, the good kind oflocker room banter. Yeah. Yeah.
(30:52):
And then he Cram says he's goingoff to meet newman, and then they
see someone stretching in. At firstGeorge is like, who is this guy?
I think he is And that's kindof like when you go to the
gym. If you're not like bigand buff, you see some guy like
flexing whatever's like, who's that guy? I think? I think it's so
cool because I was walking when Iwas again walking to them to the concept
to the MCG, this guy waswalking down the street and he had those
you know, those single type topswhere they're really really thin so you can
(31:15):
see like basically their entire chest, and he had that strut of the thing.
And there was this couple in frontof me, and there was like,
no, just that does look likea nerdy couple. And as the
guy walks past, the woman turnsto him and goes like, does that
the fake like like marcho man balkAnd I was like, she gets it.
What a hero. When we aren'tbuff, we make fun of other
(31:36):
people for being buff or who's Ithink stretched and shote off their muscles.
But George realizes, actually it wasn'tGeorge, it was Joey realizes, holy
shit, Keith and andex No,by the way, we've got to point
out good stretching form from Keith. He just looked, yeah, you're a
pro woman. I haven't stretched fora long time. It's probably when my
(31:57):
back is so saw these days. But I forget when I played football,
right, It's a little things likestretching and just going for a quick run
amend the oval, things like thatthat I didn't see it as exercise because
I was playing football. But nowI look back and go, no,
wonder I was able to pick thingsup and I was fitting and things like
that, because twice a week I'dgo to football training, but it just
felt like I was going to Ididn't sort of see it as exercise.
(32:20):
It was just practicing for footy.People think this when they get older like
me. But you know, ormaybe even even at your relatively young age,
Danna, but you want to sortof go back and tell your youthful
stuff, your youthful person stuff like, am I want to do this?
Just do this? To keep doingthis? Yeah, I'll feel better,
(32:40):
you know. So you do thisnow and I'll feel good now. Um,
and you see this, you seethis, you want to be this.
We don't have to have this, you know, if you do this,
just wanted today really fun. Butjust stretching is one of them,
just a regular, a daily stretchof just you know, I don't know,
I think I think it be somethingI wish I'd done from my teenage
(33:02):
years onwards. I mean, it'sof course my teenage self the game piss
off, old man, I wantto sit down and watch TV and eat
them eat McDonald's, Apple pay.Just do a stretch kid. Come on,
man, what are you comparing yourselfto? Keith Hernandez. The guy's
a baseball player, Jerry baseball.I know what it is. I recognized
(33:22):
him. You didn't even notice you'remaking some wise cracks in a nightclub.
The guy was in game six,two runs down out facing elimination. It's
up. Very often you hear Georgebringing Jerry down a peg. Well,
that's I mean, I think justeven being in the proximity of Keith and
Nandez and Jerry's sort of first ofall thrown in the biff insult again.
(33:46):
You know, I think George isgoing to take it even more personally.
You know, when you're insulting mewhile Keith and Nandez is in the room,
Keith Nandez might hear you insulting me, and that's that's the impression he's
going to get on me. I'ma little man. Yeah, I can
understand why George would sort of arcup a little bit, and honestly I
felt bad for him when when keithA. Nandez don say, hey,
(34:07):
you're Jerry's I felt I love yourcomedy. Jerry's just like, yeah,
that's right, I mean little man. Yeah, I've felt a bit bad
for George. I'm going to say, he's just like, yeah, you
know, he wins World Series, you make a few worse cracks at a
night club. Yeah, And honestly, it felt like George almost had the
upper hand for a second there. It's like, don't get ideas above your
(34:30):
station, Jerry, You're just astand up comic. He's Keith Nandez.
And then no validation. Excuse me, I don't want to disturb you.
I'm Keith Rnandez and I just wantto tell you what a big fan of
I love your comedy. And thenhe fluffs it by asking an awkward question
because you obviously didn't know what tosay. It's one of that having more
(34:51):
plane crashes, all those teams flyingaround, and then it's like he realizes
that wasn't the right thing to ask, but I'm just gonna go with it.
Now back out of this one,and you know, an entire team
just wiped out and then they planto have a cup of coffee Jerry and
and Keith. It's only a matterof a time. Who is this chucker?
So there's trying to run it.Yeah, it didn't really work for
(35:14):
me. I thought the chucker wasa bit much. Yeah, you're right.
Went out at Monks and three daysand he hasn't called, and he's
like, well, you call him. I don't want to be over anxious.
I think it's a lane actually talkingto you. I don't be over
anxious since it is a lamb.Because she throws away the ashtrain, she
says that she hates cigarettes, andI agree. I'm not a fan of
smoking at all, never had I'venever smoked, but the smell of smoke
(35:34):
just not for me. It kindof sucks now unfortunately. I mean I
was, I was a smoker backin the day, and look, I'll
still sneak one very very rarely. But the lovely the reason I were at
this Christmas function on Saturday night walkingout, there were a few people on
the darts and maybe a couple ofvapes there, and she, because she
(35:55):
was a smoker as well, welooked at something Jesus stinks because you know,
when you were my age, youcould go out and have a meal
and the women would be pill It'slike, you're just getting used to the
smell of smoke being everywhere now thatyou have to literally go and seek people
who are smoking because they're separated.Once you get once you come into contact
with it, it's like, yeah, that's the thing here. I mean
(36:17):
again coming back to my youthful self. I mean, I'd hate to sort
of smell my youthful self. Yeah, where's the work in the office.
There was one guy who smoked, and you go out and come back enough
to lunch, and it's like,oh, because you close the stick for
ages, it's just it's gotten. But but yeah, so Elaine here she
drops the hint, which pays offlater again they're just suddenly dropping things in
(36:40):
the chucker and the cigarettes because it'snot sort of overstated here, it's just
gets rid of the ashtraas and likeour cigarettes. And Jerry asked, you
know, why don't you guys callwhat's going on here? And it's like,
I'm sorry, honey. So he'sjust there playing up there like he's
another female friend of hers, AndI think it was just very very funny
the way I was all acted.I don't think we give Jerry enough credit
too. He's also willing to sortof take the mickey out of himself.
(37:04):
And for example this one here, someone with a bit of an ego might
not want to put themselves in situationwhere they coming across like a what would
you a damsel in distress? Youknow, I can't believe he hasn't called
blah blah blah. But no,he's gone there for the second comedy and
it just works so well, Well, I'll never give him my number another
guy again. And he really handsit up to doesn't he Like, he
(37:24):
just really really sinks his teeth intoIt's so so funny. Elaine says.
Here, Well, sometimes you know, takes a guy a month to call
back when when I give him mynumber. Yeah, well he's calling back,
an he's got a prayer. Ohso great, Elaine says, maybe
he's just been too busy, toobusy pick up a phone. What do
you mean he's too busy? Thatwas a very sign to pick up a
(37:45):
phone. So Jerry, yes,and she says, you know, just
call him. We get the standup here. We're about as we discussed
earlier, hard to make new friendsand as the kids, someone's at the
front of your house. Hey withphones. Now that's it's what's so great
about it is it's just so truewhen you think your childhood, you go
to like on a holiday or whatever, and this is another another kid at
the camp site. It's like,we're best friends in for the next week.
(38:06):
You and I best friends forever.Once his holiday's over, I'll need
to see or think of you again. For the next week. You and
I best friends. I'm trying tothink, I mean, because I have
friends I've known for pretty much, you know, all my life. You
know, I met him when Iwas six or seven, But for the
life of me, I can't rememberexactly how I met I met I met
him at school. But you know, what was it that made us friends.
(38:29):
There was no sort of like Homerand Marge meeting Wodarly, no moment
like that. It's just we somehowfound each other became friends, and that's
that. But it's yeah, it'sfunny though, because I mean, I've
met people later in my life andyou know, it's not like I'm gonna
do you want to be friends ora word. But when you realize,
(38:51):
oh, look, I'm in asocial circle or whatever, but by work
or you know, you meet yourpartner's friends or something like that, and
there was someone there's one that youconnect with more. Yeah, even to
the point where it's like, hey, you want to hang out or you
know you're sending like a message viaFacebook or whatever. I've made a new
friend. You know, it feelslike quite an accomplishment. Well, I
(39:14):
remember, I will never forget. There's this one of my best friends now,
the guy who I went to theGuns and Roses Geeg with James Crabtree
Morton crab week On Uncle crab It'swhat Alie calls him in Holly. One
of my best mates, like oneof my agreements went at my wedding.
I love the guy to death.I still I actually remember the moment we
met. And because he was forsome reason like we've got four or five
(39:34):
new kids all arriving in our classat the same time, which is kind
of unheard of. It doesn't happenall that often. But it was I
think a school closed or something likethat. The school was shutting down to
the move kids throughout different school throughoutGelong, and these guys all started from
down like Ocean Groveway, and Iremember hearing like and I don't get me
wrong, it's a silly song now, I guess I haven't heard it for
like decades, but it's a songthat had Santana and Chad from Nickel back
(39:59):
the scene. They did a songto it together, kind of like the
way he did with Rob Thomas andthat what was that song that he sound
was smooth? Smooth? Yeah, kind of like that kind of combo you're
about to say, it's a songthat not many people know. It's Santana
and Rob Thomas and it's called Smooth. I'm like, man, that's smooth.
Everybody knows smooth. Everyone knows smooth. Okay, Because for some reason,
(40:21):
I feel like, and I don'tknow why I feel this way,
but I'm a huge Matchbox twenty fan, and not many of my friends were
Matchbox twenty fans because must first thatfirst album, Yeah three Am you know,
Push was on an album Long Day, Real World was on an album
like that album is incredible, right, and they like several albums. Now,
(40:44):
they sort of got more poppier asthey went on, as bands tend
to do. But I never reallyhad another friend who was a Matchbox twenty
fan, and he was listening tothis song that was that why didn't you
and I get together? With aSantana and Nickelback song whatever. I could
hear it playing three easier phones, and I was like, he likes us.
Okay, I like that song too, It's all right. And then
I saw the next song that Iheard. The next song was three Am
(41:05):
by Matchbox twenty, and I waslike, this motherfucker gets it. And
then the next one was Guns andRoses, and I was like, I
think I just found the love ofmy life. And then then we just
we connected through music. So heyou know, he loved guns and rose
He loves old school sixties rock, seventies rock on led Zeppel and things like
that. But he also was amassive Seinfeld fan, and I was like,
(41:25):
ah, I finally found a friendwho I can talk about with about
Seinfeld with and we've bonded over Seinfeld. And he actually showed me a few
weeks ago he still kept There usedto be a DVD set back when you
could buy a DVD collections that werelike themed boxes, and it was Jerry's
fridge that was the box, andall the DVDs were in He's like,
I still kept this because I stillwatched it to this day. He's like,
(41:45):
I really like you bought me thispresent when we were like year ten
or year eleven or whatever. Itwas like every episode of Seinfeld And I'm
just thinking at the time, it'snot the best person anyone's ever bought me.
You're just like a friend from school. What's going on here? And
then we've just become best friends eversince. But yeah, I know what,
I've a bit of a tangent there. But that moment we're discussing,
hey, don't meet friends, itjust I just realized Scie I was one
(42:06):
of the things that brought us together. The show is all about the tangents
and all. Honest. Yeah, they sound other shows on the full Finger
just got a network now. Sometimesthey where you just something reminds you of
a moment in your life that youhad forgotten about and you haven't thought about
ever, and you just have toget it out because it reminds me of
something. This is a moment ofmy life that was very important. I
haven't thought about it since. Thereyou go. It's good. We had
(42:29):
a breakthrough. We did have abreakthrough. I'll pay you after the session.
Yes, but I'm doctor Kats.George is now he's going to the
unemployment application office. He's trying toget an extended for another two weeks.
He's only got two weeks to gothree months. I'm assuming it something that
seems about right. I don't know. I think so. Yeah, I've
(42:50):
never I've never been on the dollprecisely for this reason. I hate the
paper I don't mind the idea ofmoney, but just the paper work that
you have to go through. Andas they point out, you know,
Jerry ponds out in some of thestandard like the work you have to do
to stay on the doll. Tostay on the doll is more work than
(43:12):
work. I love it when yougo watch Judge Duty and she's like,
what do you do for for work? And she's like an unemployment It's like
I have my wrist in nineteen eightyfour, and like they're perfectly fucking fine.
It's like that there's been they're findingways they're doing they're pulling a George
here, but this here just feelslike perfect comedy for Jason Alexander. You
would believe that he was improvising this. It just felt like it came out
(43:36):
so naturally, just I listen forwork, and let's assarily watch I listen.
It's a combination of things, youknow, and the thing that is
if he just stopped at listen oryou know, it's like that actually sounds
like a rational things like oh,like it's a smart thing that you know,
a job secure? Actually, howwell you know I'm not just looking
(43:57):
for work. I'm actually sort ofI'm listening for opportunities. Now he just
shut up, like you seem likeyou're putting in the air was or you
know, you're trying at least youknow you're You're pathetic enough that you know
I might take pity on you.But he just keeps going and going going.
He can't. He's his own worstenemy. George. Well, we've
discussed this on the subway. Rememberwhen the lady asked whether he works in
the in the stocks where where there'sa job, and he tells the story
(44:21):
about his dad worked. He's like, just stop now, like to say,
a good a job? Why areyou going on less is more job?
It's like he just he buys intoit as I was just telling the
story of my life when I metmy friend. Sometimes when he gets to
the ball rolling like the tongue's going, but he can't keep up. It's
just like, all right, it'scoming out, just al old bullshit.
He loves to lie, so hebrings up Van Delay Industries once again.
(44:42):
It's a latex manufacturer this time, and he was looking for a job for
a sales position and then he realizedthat's not going to work. She doesn't
buy it. Then he sees,I have a friend, you know,
in the gun business. I canget some gum, and then he does
his impersonation of Jose Jimenez, whois that that's also a baseball player,
but from an earlier era. Yeah, but I think I believe he did
have a very sort of thick Hispanicaccent. One of my favorite movies is
(45:07):
The Right Stuff. Do you knowthe movie The Right Stuff about exactly from
me talking about haven't watched it,but yes, yeah, but one of
the one of the astronauts in thatis constantly doing at Jose, hemana bridge,
men name him all day him isand ye much the consternation of the
Latino people at the facility where he'sstaying. So that's the main thing I
(45:29):
know from but apparently Jose Menz wasalso a baseball player. So where have
you been looking for work? Well, you don't want to discovered, missus
socle. It's not so much thelooking as the listening. I listened for
work. Now as i'm looking andlistening, I'm also looking. You cannot
discount looking. It's sort of acombination. It's looking and listening, listening
(45:50):
and looking. But you must notCan you be specific about any of these
companies specific? Uh, let's see, I've walked in and out. I've
so many bill things together. Butjust give me one name, one name,
absolutely. Um. Let's see, there's uh Vanderli Industries. I just
saw. Then I got very closethere, very close. Yeah, what
(46:12):
type of company is that? LatexLatex manufacturers? And you interviewed there,
Yes, for a sales position,Latex salesman, the selling of Latex and
Latex related products. They just wouldn'tgive me a chance. Damn it.
Now, I'm gonna need an addressand a phone number for this vand late
(46:34):
company. You like gum because Ihave a friend in the gum business.
I got a gum guy. Imake one phone call. I have boxes
of gum delivered right the address youjust he zay Venice, you recognize that.
No very funny, really very funny. The address Vandale is one twenty
(47:07):
nine West eighty first Street. It'sa very small industry, Vandale. It's
one of the reasons I wanted towork for their phone number, that's KL
five eight three eight three. Areyou planning on calling them soon? Because
very strange hour. As soon asI'm done with you, I'll check in
(47:29):
with you next week. I gottarun now because I got a full plate.
Everything right, really good too too. I know we always praised Michael
Richards for his physical comedy. Butjust a little thing of just as he
gets at the door, the scramblelike a fucking Looney tune and then running
off, you know, just littlethings like that just all add up.
(47:50):
And he grabs the kid and dragsme out of the phone box, which
pays off later as well. Youknow, all these things happen here,
all pay off later. So thenhe goes up. Krame is already on
the phone, so we can't getthrough. This is where Jerry shows his
shirt to a lane. He's aguy, by the way, that shirt's
too much. Oh, I wantto look that shirt. And I was
like, are trying to be whatwas happening here? But we all have
(48:15):
that shirt though in our closet whereit's like, it looks nice, but
I just personally can't pull this off. There's somebody out there that this shirt
will look fantastic on me. No. I bought a pair of shoes like
maybe four years ago, and Iwore them for the first time last weekend.
(48:35):
Yes, because you needed to buildyourself up the confidence to put them
on or a little bit. Yeah, And I was like, well,
this is kind of a beachy occasionor a beach club occasion, and these
shoes will look right for that. And I must admit, you know,
loose all them when they do,I'm bad like those I haven't seen this
as a validation. That's the validationyou need, isn't it. I shall
wear no other shoes ever ever washingmy feet again. But George, he
(49:04):
finally gets through. I thought,I thought this whole story sort of slush
scene, felt very nineties because thepay phone having to put more quarters into
the machine and blah blah blah blah. I like that, you know,
because we grew up in that era. And the couple arrives with the kid
because he shoved him out of thephone box Michael, and he says,
Michael and Carroll they one time theywanted to go see the baby who comes
back in the episode with the endwith a lobster and the shrinkage, and
(49:27):
then it got to see the babybecause it's a terribly ugly baby next time,
but you know time, Yeah,I guess, can't I just send
us a tape? And Elan says, you know, it feels like sometimes
you're watching this show and it feelslike you're just watching friends chat. So
when Eline says he just waited acouple of months and it would be too
old to be a baby, justwaited for to grow up, it just
it just felt like friends talking, didn't it. Oh yeah, And particularly
(49:50):
the way that Jerry and Julia sortof played that, because he'll be grown
up. Kraia walks in. Hesays that you're sitting in the catch that
shirt's too busy. You know you'renot you're not being yourself, you know
what grames saying his shirts too loud? Then you know, yeah, you
gotta get rid of it. Yes, yes, yeah, it's Keith.
It's just Keith, andanz And knewit. What over here's Keith Anez.
(50:15):
Then George George tells the taxi driverto change lanes. I feel sorry for
the driver here. Like there's gotto be moments where you're a taxi driver
and the person is telling you howto drive. I'll be like, sit
the fuck down. You're paying mefor a service, allow me to give
you this service. Sometimes if I'mSometimes when I was driving, not driving
home, but I was catching ataxi home from being out, I knew
(50:36):
the quickest way home, and Iknow a way that appears to be quicker,
but I know it's not. AndI'll always be like, when I
approaching it, We're like, seethat bridge there, yet, don't go
over that bridge, just go underit. And you can tell them it's
like, fack've got an extra threedollars out of this guy. But anyway,
but and they always give you theimpression like they're annoyed that you're telling
them where to go. But sometimesyou're just gotta tell them. It's like,
(50:57):
motherfucker, I know the quickest wayhome. Let's fucking go home,
right what your map says, you'retaking me the way I said. I
know where I live. I've driventhese treats before I know what's going on.
Kramer and Newman then fight over whogets to tell the Keith Hernandez story
just but also all time great entrancefrom from Wayne Night here where he just
(51:19):
saying, I despise him. Idespise him. He has so many he's
deliveries fantastic. Everybody eats broccoli lateron file weed Way Night's amazing. But
yeah, so he tells the storyNice game, pretty boy, But the
I'm hit is the bit for me. I ran him. That's so good.
(51:42):
And then of course I'm just gonnaplay that clip obviously. June fourteenth,
nineteen eighty seven, Mets Phillies. We're enjoying a beautiful afternoon and the
right field stands when a crucial Hernandezerror opens the door to a five run
Phillies ninth cost the Mets the game. Our day was rulin. There was
a lot of people, you know, they're waiting by the players parking lot.
(52:05):
Now we're coming down the ramp.Newman was in front of me.
Hernandez was coming toward us. Ashe passes us, Newman turns and says,
nice game, pretty boy. Nandy'scontinued past us up the ramp.
Then a second later something happened thatchanged us in a very deep and profound
(52:27):
way from that day form. Hespit on us, and I screamed out,
I'm at Then I turned and thespent ricocheted off him, and it
hit me. Wow, what astory. Unfortunately, the immutable laws of
(52:50):
physics contradict the whole premise of youraccount. Allow me to reconstruct as if
I made for miss Fennis. AsI've heard the story a number of times.
Newman r if you'll indulge me.According to your story, Hernandez passes
you and starts walking up the rent. Then you say you were struck on
(53:10):
the right temple. The spit thenproceeds to ricochet off the temple, striking
Newman between the third and the fourthrift. The spit then came off the
rib made a right turn, hittingNewman in the right riff, causing him
to drop his baseball cap. Thespit then splashed off the wrist, pauses
(53:37):
in midair. Mind you, makesa left turn and lands on Newman's left
thigh. That is one magic,Lucy, I loved Jerry's yea. The
(53:58):
immutable laws of physics contradict the wholepremise of your account. Well, that's
I mean, it's it's a completeriff on Kevin Costner in JFKA. But
even even though as someone growing upwho hadn't seen the film, someone who
just knew of the JFK scenario,it's still hilarious. You don't have to
be you don't have to be someonewho's seen the film to get this either.
(54:20):
No, no, no, Imean Jerry plays it very very well,
that whole sort of you know, the pomposity as someone presenting evidence in
court. Yeah, it's it's ait's a it's a well played scene by
Jerry. And he was so anxiousgoing into it because it's such a long
scene. And he said that whatyou see was the first take. He
nailed it the first time, andhe said once he once that was finished,
it went well, got a hugelaugh because they said it was a
(54:43):
bit sort of touchy. It's likedo we do this doing not do Will
people find this funny or will theyfind this insensitive? Insensitive? Yeah?
Yeah, yeah, but no,it was just a huge laugh. And
Jerry said the relief once he gotoff the stage, just like whoof it
worked great. I think it's fairlyclear that they're not taking the piss out
of the JFK assassination. They takethem all piss out of the all the
(55:06):
rigmarole that surrounded it. Yes,so look, I can understand why they
might be a little cautious, butI know I think they they did the
wrong thing. But they bring it. There's got to have been a second
spider behind the bushes down the gravellyroad. And Newman just leaves him,
protests he's had enough of it.He's not going to buy into this at
all. George and arrives. He'sall erratic, and he explains the vandalist
(55:28):
story. You know, you know, I know I hire you as a
Latex shalesman. I don't think so. So he's just basically pretending that it's
realized, just not happening, nothappening at all. Then Keith, Keith's
outside and they're giving Lane a rideinto whatever because they're on their way to
the coffee, giving e Lane aride to somewhere. And then who had
(55:50):
the motive? So then the dayis finished, and then that the date
sorry with with Jerry and Keith.Should I shake his hand? This would
actually give you went on a dateI would call it a date with like
a celebrity, like a sporting heroof yours. At the end of the
day, it's like, do Ishake his hand? That's that would run
through your mind. How do Isay goodbye? What do I do here?
Some we overthink things, that's justwho we are as people. But
(56:12):
I would go, I would gofor the handshake. Of course, you
go for the handshake. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but sometimes a handshake.
Have you ever given a handshake andafter you've given it, going,
oh fuck, that was a badhandshake. Yeah. Sometimes, like when
you're trying to like your garment andyou don't make the good If you fuck
it up the first time, it'slike, oh, the second one always
just feels like, oh, yeah'slet's let's let's slow it down easily.
Yep, right, we've got connection. Now, let's shake the hands now.
(56:35):
If you fuck up that handshake,I don't know. It's just I
feel so embarrassed if I don't shakethat someone's hand properly, which I shouldn't.
As I said, I overthink.Yeah, I had this the other
day with someone who was really Okay, you're letting us know who's who's the
boss here? Right? An youwith this with this handshake that you're given
me. But yeah, I remlike to think that I met with equal
force or and yeah, I didn'tdisgrace myself in the handshake. I wasn't.
(57:00):
I wasn't the beater in this handshake. It was like, No,
this was a meeting of two alphas. You can tell. Meeting of two
alphas. You can tell. Youcan tell when someone's going in for a
big handshit, like you said yourfriend there. Once you get that connection,
you realize then I've got to squeezeharder here. I've got a really
like at first you're like, oh, gentle, oh, what's one of
these ones? Is it all right? Motherfucker? Well here here's what I've
(57:21):
got. You should have told meyou wanted to arm wrestle buddy. Yeah.
So Jerry obviously goes for the handshake, a bit of an awkward handshake.
It's like, oh, yeah,it's whatever. Then he asked about
Elaine, and it's like, ohno, oh no, I'm going in
that territory because if you said tosomebody, tell us more about that girl
(57:43):
and they said, oh, she'smy ex me personally, I'm not gonna
be My next question is not goingto bed mind of my day, I'll
be like, okay, sorry, even though it's an X and just to
me, it just feels like hereputting that person in an awkward situation a
little bit. Yeah, I mean, because you're doing nothing wrong, but
still it just feels like making themgive the approval. It's like, that's
just a weird thing. I thinkit had to be. Spend a bit
(58:06):
of time with your new friend, build a good report, and during that
time you're still thinking about their theirex this woman. Then yeah, wait
till the relationship with your well yeah, it requires a bit of sort of
analysis and balance on your part togo, well, am I more interested
in being friends with this dude?Or am I more interested in this lady?
(58:28):
Or what have you? Yeah? And then okay, who do I
cut loose here? Or can Imake it work? It's a unique situation
where Joey in Elaine because they're stillgreat friends, right, they still see
each other every day, blah blahblah. But it still would be odd
if you just say, for example, Louise was best friends with one of
her axes, right, would yoube fired going out to dinner with this
person and have this person just hangingout Louise's house all the time and things
(58:51):
like that. If they are anax like, it's just a weird thing
a little bit. You know, they're just friends, but it's like,
yeah, but you know, sheliked him before she liked me. I
noticed there's that history there. That'sweird. I think lou and I talked
about this the other night about it. She mentioned a friend of hers and
and maybe something similar came up ona show that we were watching, and
you know, she mentioned a friendof hers who was who she really likes
(59:15):
and really respects and all that. And I don't think I'm a problem with
you hanging out with him. WellI'm not at tracking to him. And
I'm like, well that's okay. Then that's even better that supposed the homopistic
because of you were there's no fistraising, no fist raising in the Dando
or the David's households, but unlessit's Nicola thumping me. But then they
(59:39):
discusses with George how they they splitdinner and they didn't talk about Game six
yet. That's a very understated linethere, but so true that he discussed
Game six. It wasn't really timeyet to say we went and had lunch
with Gary Abblett. You don't talkabout football, you know, you talk
about everything else. There'll be timefor football about church, Yeah, they'll
be Yeah, exactly, it'll betime for football. We'll get to that
(01:00:00):
first date. You don't want tojust go straight for it, because then
it comes across like you're just friendswith them because of their status in the
footy field or the baseball field. But then Elane arrives and George asked,
um, did you shake his hand? What? What kind of shake was
it? What? Single pump? Not too hard? You're gonna see him,
You're gonna see him again, yeahthe weekend, um, and Jerry
(01:00:22):
is just he's spitting his knee like, oh yeah, yeah, look like
it's been a date. And thenwe get a lane. He's called her
already, so you know he calledme already, Keith called you. This
guy really gets around. Do youmind? No? What a mind at
(01:00:45):
all? Why should I mind? What do you say? He asked me
out for Saturday night? Are yougoing? I told him I was busy.
Oh really, So we're going outFriday Friday? Yeah, he's going
(01:01:08):
out with you on Friday. Yeah, he's supposed to see me on Friday.
Oh, I didn't know we madeplans, but I'll cancel it.
We don't cancel it. Well, this is a little awkward, isn't his.
Frankly it is. I've never seenyou jealous before. Well, you're
(01:01:32):
not even a fan. I wasat Game six. You didn't even watch
it. Wait a second, Waita minute. You jealous of him me
or jealous of me Anny Hannigan's aroundhere, and that would feel so deflating,
(01:01:53):
wouldn't it, Like, Oh,your hero has canceled on you to
go date or go on a datewith you your ex. Oh, this
is a bit awkward, isn't it. Frankly it is? And nice because
we've got a bit of a Hannigan'scall back then we did. Yeah,
good call back there. And thenare you jealous of him or jealous of
(01:02:15):
me? And he goes look forthe handegans Jerry, then answers as vandlay
Industries and you know whatever, andthen it's Keith though on the phone.
So it's not it's not the personyet, But this is where Keith cancels
and he Cramer comes in and asksyou, no, we're gonna go see
the baby or what He's like, well, I'm not doing anything Friday now,
so I might as well do it. And he sits down next to
(01:02:35):
a lane and answers the phone andthis is week at the George and he's
and his moment, as I said, you have Jerry answered the phone is
vandlay everything's going to plan. It'sgoing to be good. If you know
somewhere then line's going to fuck up, but not now, because Jerry,
it's all going to plan. Hereboom Cramer enters. It's there. You
should have seen that the second Cramerwalked in the room. Really, oh
yeah, because you're just inviting chaosinto the indoor apartment the minute he walks
(01:02:57):
through the door. So yeah, you're right, Yellow what Delay Industries?
Now you're way way way off.Well yeah, yeah, that's the right
number. But this is an apartment. Yeah how did you know that one?
(01:03:37):
And you want to be my latexsal I was also just a massive
fan of George's shuffle in like hispants from his ankles. Have you had
a moment where you you're on thetoilet and you realized there's no tilet paper
and you know, the some justin like the next room. It's like
oh, alright, I'm doing this. That's terrible. So it's something you
(01:04:00):
don't want to think about the statethat George is in when he's running out
of the bathroom and falls flat onhis falls flat on his stomach and flat
on his face. Oh was heWas he in the middle of something or
was he just you know, enjoyinga nice because he was reading a magazine?
Wasn't I think he brought the Excellentmagazine with him. As I said,
he was relaxed. He's like, all right, it's gonna be fine,
Jerry's here, Joey's gonna answer thephone, we all go to plan
(01:04:23):
and then as he goes he doesn'tsee the fireworks. That is Kramer entering
the room. So that's where itall goes, all unravels. But then
George is now at the unemployment officeand he sees the photo of her daughter.
Who is this? It's my daughter, This is your daughter? My
god, my god. I hopeyou don't mind my saying she is breathtaking?
(01:04:49):
You think so? Would you takethis picture away from me? Just
take it away and get it outof here, Take it away and put
it away. Let me just I'mlisten. Go you know she doesn't even
have a boyfriend. Okay, well, what do you think you're talking to
(01:05:09):
it? What do you You're tryingto make a joke, miss Sole,
because it's not funny. I cantell you that I'm serious. She doesn't
you know. It's one thing tonot give me the extension, but to
tease and to torture me like this, there's no call for that. Would
you like her phone number? Thisis so cool. I don't know what
(01:05:32):
to say. Where should I signthis thing? No? No, no,
no, no, don't worry aboutit. I thought this was really
not cringey George, but it's justlike, oh, you're singing to this
level, George. Really, thisis this is the path you're going.
This is how bad that you wantto stay unemployeed, George D My note
(01:05:53):
is just oh, George, Ilike that. We get a sort of
a word drops here to take it. He calls her breathtaking. Right,
So in the episode later on wherewe get there you got to see the
baby right where they go to seethe baby again in a later episode where
the shrinkage and stuff, the doctorthere at the time calls a lane breathtaking.
So it's almost like those episodes areconnected in various ways. I like
(01:06:15):
that, but it's what he's justpatronizing her like she is. She doesn't
have a boyfriend. I refuse tobelieve this, and I'm like, fuck
off, George. It's such ayou're being your prick. I find it
her believe that mississ so called isactually sort of buying this, but clearly,
you know the other daughter carry Ibelieve the name is as you know,
just been bereft of mail company orrety a romantic interest for goodness knows
(01:06:39):
how long that her mother's just gonnago yep, yeah, no worries,
No, no, you shouldn't havebeen a rist. Let's go with it.
So she offers George the phone numberand then don't buy the signing.
You know you're taking my daughter out. It's all good. And then get
the stand up about the unemployment housesays on your check, So how does
how how degrading must to be gettingyour check and it says unemployment on it,
(01:07:00):
and discussing how friends he's got afriend who just desperately tries to avoid
works. So yeah, very good. It always the way this episode is
going, it's almost like you're seeingstuff unraveling. It's almost like you're watching
stand up that Jerry's been doing inreal time as the show is happening,
like George has been doing all this. Then we get some stand up about
it and things like that. Yeah, then at the bar, this is
(01:07:20):
where Elaine asked about Game six andyeah, as you were saying, they're
gathering around like you feel so importantwhen like you're telling a story and people
gather around like they want they reallywant to hear this story. And Kramer
and Jerry they go to see thebaby looks like Linda Johnson. Now I
feel like this. It was justweird to me, this whole story with
(01:07:42):
the baby. Right, So Michaelgoes off to get the camera and she's
such an idiot, and Kramer picksup the baby and we hear someone's scream,
right, Yeah, is that Michael'sscreaming because he overhears Kramer's about to
pick up the baby. Because wehear my goat or whatever or scream.
It's like that doesn't never see anything. I watched this on Netflix and it
said George screamed, But I'm like, but but then but after get back,
(01:08:09):
it was George on a date. That's the next scene, So what
the hell? Yeah, I don'tI don't know who that's who that scream
was. I mean, yeah,it's a it's a weird one. It's
we said before, no bum notesin this episode. This in the bum
note. But it's like, what'sgoing on. It's almost like there was
something cut there that didn't quite makesense. Yeah, but anyway, so
(01:08:30):
where now at the arter George's date. I haven't had a big Mac for
a long time, and you tookit a mac as you dog. I
just love that, you know,we's it's smart on the partisan fell on
the part of this episode that youknow, you initially are George, you're
a creep and you're still thinking that. You know, I think, oh,
this poor woman, but she she'skind of obnoxious and kind of terrible.
(01:08:56):
I mean, George is not doingright by it, clearly. But
at the same time, it's likeit would throw the episode off balance.
I think if you're like, oh, George is just being a prick here,
it's more like, no, he'skind of getting what's coming to him
here because he's no one's having anyfun here. Well, it's kind of
like the episode with the stroke, right, because it's important. Cipher does
it very well. Where if you'rejust watching this in real time, your
(01:09:18):
thoughts are, George, you're takingadvantage of this girl for personal gain.
It's you're a horrible, horrible,horrible human being. It's important that at
the end she's the one who breaksup with him, and she's the one
that sort of gets the final thing. It was the same with the stroke
now when the lamee was like,I can't be with anymore. It's a
pain in the ass the bitch tryingto get here. You know you you
can't do things. You're old, you've had a stroke, you know you
(01:09:42):
can't move anymore. Blah blah blah. She comes across like a real terrible
person. But then the next sceneshe sees she discusses how she says sorry
him on the street and he saidthat he was only using her for sex,
and it's like, okay, well, at least they got the final
laugh. So it's very important thatthey carry here gets the final laugh as
well. But he was George,it's pretty despicable what he's doing. Despicable.
Yeah, So she invites him upand he lies about you know,
(01:10:02):
you've got an early start you've gota job apportment at a hardware store.
It's like okay, And she saysthat we're gonna call me as soon as
you get home. Yeah. Yeah, that doesn't give a definite answer.
That doesn't give an answer. Yes, she wants to kiss. He goes
over the smoods with just the ugliestkiss face. It reminds me of when
Hahns Mama tried to kiss Selma ontheir date. And then I've got here,
(01:10:26):
Kramer drops the baby. Questioned Markbecause we don't actually see anything,
he's just assumed. Then he droppedthe baby. I guess say he's really
really sorry. But they get somestand up there. But he got to
see the baby, not the grandfatherthough, you know he's a he's a
thousand months old. Now after theElaine and Keith date, and she's wondering
whether there's going to be a kiss, Is there going to be a kiss?
(01:10:46):
Something? I thought. There's aline here from Juliart which is just
like you are so great at yourjob, Like Juliard so says, my
mum was caught acation, my father'shalf drunk. She just makes every line
so great. She's amazing, she'samazing as a lane. Um, so,
you know, he's trying to tellhimself that he can go in for
the kiss. You know, I'mKeith Hernandez. You know I can do
(01:11:09):
this. You're famous goes in forthe kiss? Who is this guy?
Think he is? I'm Keith? And apparently Keith has said that that was
the worst part of the entire episodefor him. It took eight takes to
get the kiss right. He saidit was so awkward he couldn't do it
eight takes. It took. Ithink he just wanted to kiss Julia eight
times. Personally, your cover storiesa bit flimsy there, Keith, So
(01:11:35):
did you too? Um? Whatmilk? No cookies? Did he kiss
(01:11:59):
you good night? I don't know? What do you mean to get home?
No? All right? He kissedme? Okay, Well what kind
of a kiss? Was it apeck? Was it a kiss? Was
it a long makeout? Though?Between a peck and a makeout? So
you like them? I don't understand. Before you were jealous of me,
(01:12:24):
Now you jealous of him. I'mjealous of everybody. Keith then calls and
he wants Jerry to help him movefurniture. It's a big step to make
in a relationship. It's like it'slike for men, it's like going it
all the way. I don't thinkit's that big of a deal, is
it. Like if someone says, can you help? If I'm gonna make
you haven't seen for a while poston Facebook need help moving furniture, I'd
(01:12:45):
be like, god, an,how I can help? So there was
a girl I was saying I helpedthem move twice. Yeah, I don't.
I don't see why. To me, and I picked it up like
a big deal, I'm like playingit up for the sec of the story,
that's fine. But to me Iwas watching his going I don't think
it's that big of a deal helpingsomebody move. I guess asking somebody I
(01:13:08):
don't know. I enjoy helping people, so I don't see it as a
big deal. But to someone likeJerry, I guess it seems like it's
a big deal. It does payoff a little later though, because I
mean, if it's just Keith andJerry moving all the stuff out of Keith's
apartment, you're Keith and Nan isyou really good as sprung for a mover?
Given all this all this stuff that'sgot to go and now awkward it
seems go on man, but alsois It's kind of like Jerry wants to
(01:13:30):
be friends of Keith, but he'salso thinking of reasons to not be with
Kick because it makes him sort oflike anxious. So he's like, you
know, he's been jealous at Lanespending time with Keith not him. Keith's
like, can you come and dothis with me? Joey's like finding a
reason why it's a bad deal becausehe just can't do it. It's too
nervous about being friends of Keith.Anyway. Yeah, we'll went at one
time, coming in a little toostrong. Then he Cramer enters and he
(01:13:51):
can't believe that he asked him tomove. Like Cramer just hates the guy.
He's just very, very angry. He's angry that he said yes.
And then George is say, candate and she doesn't want a call.
She breaks up with him. Gotno job, passpects Biff, Biff Lohman.
She just like Biff Loman. Yeah, And George begs, so please
don't mention this to your mother.Keith then braggs to to Lane about that
(01:14:15):
the twelve gold gloves, and Iwas like, oh, this is the
kind of thing you'd hate to seein like a famous sports star. If
they started bragg and give out theiraccomplishments, it's like we all, we
all know what you did. Idon't need to remind us. I watched
this great documentary last night. Um. It was on ABC I View.
It was an Australian story episode aboutLuke Longley, the Australian basketball who played
for the Bulls opposite Michael Jordan's backon the nineties when they had their great
(01:14:40):
run. Forgotten Aussie superstar, isn'the? Yeah, it was such.
It was such a good episode,Like The Boyfriend, it was a two
parter. If you've got ABC IView, I highly recommend you check it
out. And they show, youknow, he's got his his NBA championship
rings and I was looking and goingthere was some ugly ass ratings man,
(01:15:01):
And then about ten seconds later hesaid, yeah, these things are Gordon
disgusting, but you know the championshipsGordian disgusting. Yeah. And he was
such a cool dude in all honesty. Um, And you know they made
a bit of talk about how youknow he was really cut out of that
Last Dance documentary. That's exactly right. Yeah, yeah, And you know,
(01:15:26):
there's a bit of talk from Jordanand that about how, you know,
I had to give a Luke abit of tough love and all this
kind of stuff, and you knowhe's been, he's been, Michael Jordan.
But at the end Jordan says, yeah, look, I owe not
that he owes him apology, butyou know, if I was doing that,
if I was doing this all overagain, there is no way I
would play without Luke Longley. He'sa he's a terrific player, and he's
a good friend and he deserves, you know, all the respect in the
(01:15:49):
world. Like god, damn, that's nice. But I just like Michael
Jordan is saying that, you know, you've achieved something. Yeah, I
mean, I don't think he's thekind of guy who's Dolan. Dolin had
compliments. He doesn't give Christmas cards. New fuck the kids, says my
daughter. But yeah, just uhyeah, the way you talked about the
(01:16:11):
the the NBA Championship rings, andI'm like, yeah, they're they're a
bit off. Like good on him. He just has had a really really
good attitude about about sport and lifein general. So yeah, that's something
I recommend that everyone check out. What's so great about this, um,
this flirting scene is I love howa Lane is deliberately saying that he wasn't
a good player, and just thisis this is this is classic flirting.
(01:16:34):
It's like it just it felt likeyou were just watching Julia flirt with Keith
and and it's just the whole well, you know, they put the worst
player at first base. It's funnythat the whole pick up artist thing um
that was in vogue there for awhile, and there was the technique known
as nagging, which is like, yeah, you basically insult the person,
(01:16:55):
and it was like, oh god, that's such a toxic behavior. I'm
like, that's flirting. Yeah youdo that the sort of show I'm interested
but not intimidated by you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You
don't want to be like, ohmy god, you're just the best?
Is like right, I guess becauseit makes it it makes it more exciting
for that person's like, oh,this isn't going to be as easy as
(01:17:15):
it normally is. Yeah you cannow you can be your dickhead about it.
Yes, you know you can takeit too far. Well, good
luck going home with me to nightor something like that. You know,
someone as fugg oh as you It'slike some people probably do go that far
and go home alone, and deservedlyso. But yeah, I mean,
yeah, this is this is reallysort of pitch perfect flirting. Yeah,
(01:17:38):
well played by j LD Keith.Yeah, exactly until she realized that he
smokes. And yeah, you thinkthat she would have known that he smokes.
He had a pass. They've hada pass and they've been on dates.
You don't tell me he didn't smokeat all, like this guy.
The guy was nervous and if you'resmoking, you're nervous, you smoke.
I don't know if he's a smokerin real I wonder if Keith nan Is
actually is a smoker realer, becausehe seems so awkward pulling out that pack.
(01:18:00):
Did he Okay, okay, itlooked awkward to me. We're out
at Monks and George's Jerry is tellingGeorge that, you know, she really
really likes the guy, you know, the kind of those brother and sister
couples that look alike. And then, um, this was I thought a
really fair point and it really addedemotion to the story that Cyber doesn't usually
do all that often. But Jerrysays, yeah, No, I just
(01:18:23):
I just never thought that she'd findsomeone that she likes like me, that
she liked like me, and Iwas like it kind of It gives the
story some substance, like why Jerrywas annoyed by Doors, not so much
that he canceled on her, aslike, oh, I thought I was
always going to be like the backupthat she really likes. Now she's found
someone that she seems to like asmuch as she liked me that I didn't
think I'd ever experienced this. That'swhere the reactions coming from. Yeah,
(01:18:45):
and they don't play it as aoh moment, you know, you don't
hear that kind of from the onehe's like, oh wow, this is
the designated serious moment in the funnyshow. No, but you're right.
It does add a little bit ofweight, a little bit of emotional heft.
You know what I'd like to do. I'd really like to have sex
with a tall woman. I meanreally tall, like like a giant,
(01:19:06):
like six five. Really, whowas the tallest woman you ever slept with?
I don't know, sixty three?Oh god, See this is all
I think about sleeping with a giant. It's my life's ambish, so I
guess it's fair to say you've setdifferent goals for yourself and say Thomas Edison
(01:19:29):
Magell at least tal Magellan. Youlike Magellan? Oh yeah, my favorite
explorer around the world. Come on, who do you like? I like
De Sodo de Sodo? What didhe do discover the Mississippi? Oh yeah,
like they wouldn't have found that anyway. I remember back in my clubbing
days there was, um, there'sgirl that I'd see around around the traps
(01:19:53):
of it who was probably about maybea head to half head taller than me.
And yeah, we got to talkingflat another thing ever came with it.
But I'm like, golly, golly, miss Molly. I say,
I can see where George is comingfrom. I'm the lines she said.
This girl, she was pretty tall. Actually she was a basketball and a
(01:20:15):
fan out in the end. ButI I remember I've buying trinks and stuff
and she's like, buy me onemore. I'll let you climb me like
a tree. And I was likeanother another drink, Say another drink.
I don't forget that I'll let youclimb me like a tree. It's one
of those moments where it's just like, you know, the gift from the
(01:20:38):
office. It's happening. It's happening. I just paddicked. But yeah,
but Joey says, you know,it's almost like embarrassed that he said yes.
I don't believe a couple of hesaid yes, I'm not driving him
to the airport. I'm just happeningto move. He's very embarrassed. George
is now back at the Unemployment ofUs and it's not going well at all.
He's given, he's given everything,you know, you know, I
(01:20:59):
gave everything to your door. She'spicky, you know. And then this
is where he sees the baseball andhe says he's good friends of Kitten and
this this is his last chance, his last ditch effort, and he needs
Keith to be there within an hour. And then he goes goes through the
whole routine again, gets to thephone box. Unfortunately it's a big dude
and nats. He doesn't move thebig dude. The same taxi gets told
(01:21:19):
to get out. We're now backat Joe's apartment. Keith says we'll take
about four hours, and Joe's justlike, I'm just not sure, You're
gonna say, just not sure ifI can go through with this, it's
too soon. Just getting worse. It's just getting worse and worse with everything
he talks about. I mean bedand box spring and let's connect to the
headboard. You got to disconnect thecat No elevators. Yeah storywe Oh my
(01:21:43):
god, there'll be plenty of pivotinghappened in that. Cramer then enters does
the spin and yeah, just sogreat. So they don't remember me,
and then Newman enters and he remembersNewman and they go through the story and
this is where he's like, no, no, it wasn't me. It
was Roger McDowell, who originally wasgoing to be Darryl Strawberry, Darrel Strawberry,
(01:22:04):
that's right, but he had someissues going out at the time.
And Keith and Anders himself actually said, because he was friends with Strawberry,
said, you know, I don'tthink the image of Darryl spitting on fans
is quite what he needs right now, so let's change it. They got
Roger mcdowe to go do it instead. Keith says, I've tried to scream
out and then why McDowell and Ilove that. It's like, I know,
(01:22:26):
we're making fun of him, youknow, during the game, you
know, our poor beer in hishead. He did, and then they
offered to help him move. I'llhandle it like a baby. So everything,
everything has a paper, even theship stuff of the episode all pays
off. In the end, alane then rings and she says that she
broke up with him. Me too, I broke up with him as well.
(01:22:47):
And then unfortunately for George, becausethey're all broken up, he's not
there anymore. You know, hewalks in he needs Keith there yells at
the window, all right, thechucker. I'm the chucker. This is
not happening, and I love it. Doesn't quiet any words from from Jason
here. That just that you canjust tell all the emotions he's going through
from the window to the couch, like, well, fucked, I'm off
unemployment. Now what I'm gonna do? And he says sort of sits down,
(01:23:10):
all deflated, and then he's like, well, well be if what's
next is where the tall woman entersthe room, offers in the wallet and
that's the end of the episode, which apparently wasn't the only ending to this
episode. There was an altimate endingyeah, where George she said anything else
I can give you note sends heroff and she wasn't my type, sort
of just playing off the George's extrapicky ye as well, But I think
(01:23:30):
this ending worked fine. We getsome stand up about you know, moving.
You know, when you're moving, all you're looking is for boxes.
You know, the world, yourwhole world revolves around boxes. We're gonna
need boxes. I need boxes. So The Boyfriend Parts one and two definitely
one of the greatest episodes of sinFat of all time. As I said,
for the first time on this podcast, I felt like I was reviewing
iconic, not just iconic signed iconictelevision. This it just feels like an
(01:23:55):
event. It feels like a bigdeal. It's a very special, a
very special episode here of sign Fair. Yeah. I just thought everyone involved
writing staff, the way they didthe film, with the with the with
the spitting scene, the acting, just oh, it's just it's not perfect,
but it's pretty fucking close. It'squite close. You're right. No,
it's a story so good. Wehad to take two episodes to tell
(01:24:18):
it, so yeah, and wehad to do an extra long episode of
talking Seinfeld to give it to It'sit's just desserts. Even to this day,
when you've got to show you writingfor comedy and it's like you bring
it on a guest star. Usethis as a model of this is how
you handle a guest star. Butthe various stories how they had Keith related
to all the four main characters,it was just done so well, so
(01:24:41):
naturally. Like you said, Keithjust blended into the show. He didn't
feel like I mean, as asan American view this would have felt like
a big deal because he was ahuge baseball star, but as someone who
wasn't really into baseball aside of America, it was just he was just another
guy. Yeah. That's just showshow great Keith was at what he was
doing. Like he just lendon ifhe felt like just another actor on the
(01:25:01):
show. He felt very very comfortableindeed, and we felt comfortable watching him
as little as Rolt. Yeah. All right, well that is our review
