Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, what is going on, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Frank
age G five AHEJ the second time. Been saying this
today because I started recording the next video and I'm
messed up in scheduling so bad, and I'm going to
tell you all about it. And it was nothing to
It was just Frank eighty D mis and trying to
get things right. Thank y'all for joining. I know this

(00:30):
month's meeting was a little short notice. On the movel
of the meeting, I had several people hit me up
kind of last minute. Hey, you know, it's Memorial Day
weekend Sunday. I'm like, no, so I moved it to
a Thursday. Thanks both of y'all for being flexible. But man,

(00:52):
oh man, I don't know what I've been doing with scheduling.
It's just maybe like time blindness, which that does happen
with A and like, yes, I really need to send
out that notification. Okay, I'm gonna do that in a
couple of minutes, but first I'm baring the ball with this,
and then it's after lunch. Then I'm like, oh, my

(01:13):
meeting's coming up. I didn't send that notification. Oh I'm
so sorry. Oh the things will being me. Oh man,
but how have y'all been. How's y'all? I've seen Jeff.
Were you at Dayton? I know Michael was, No, I
was not.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
It's a long guy from it's a long guy from Montana.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, I would agree with that. And ah, it's downstairs
because I was taking pictures of it. I have new merch.
This one was fun. If you caught Sunday stream over
on Yeah, there was my channel, the Cigar Hangout. We

(02:02):
launched a new merch item. Let me, oh, that's not
a chrome wind up. I could do it with the
same scene. This is just me treading water for a second.
I'm creating the proma pictures right now. At Tank Radio Pillow,

(02:22):
this was.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
I saw that. I didn't you award somebody one of those?
I can't.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I gave it to Mike. Actually, I gave it to
his cat Satan to have a because he always has
little stuffed toys behind him and I'm like, I'm gonna
make him a tank Radio pillow and I'm gonna see
Mike just be mad about it. So he opened up
it on stream last Sunday. They are released and for

(02:49):
all of y'all listening to the links in the description
belows over at Quirky qrp's website, and it is a
amazing pillow. It's actually really nice. And it's like die
cut around the tank radio as my stickers are that
that makes the barrel a little wonky. But hey, if
you notice on my channel, just like the oh I'm talking,

(03:12):
you can't see me. Just like my logo right there,
everything's askewed. Even the picture on the wall is slightly askewed,
because I don't like anything level. If nothing's level, that
means everything's level.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yeah, you got you gotta love it. Keep frying. Now
you're gonna put that mypillar dot com guy out of business.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
You really are, well Jeff made this for me or not? Jeff,
I'm sorry. James at Corky James's Quirky qrp's website over
on Etsy and me and him been kind of collaborating
about it for a bit and eventually, I don't know,
it's five weeks ago because he I was like, you

(03:58):
need to make a tank radio pillow and we got
to send it to Mike and he laughed and then
that was the end of it. And I was like, hey,
you still want to do that. He's like, sure, let's
just look at your logo. And he saw my logo,
my tank logo, and he said, no, I can't be done.
And then we waited another week and we started back
and forth again. I'm like, what's gonna take to make
this to happen. He's like, well, you're your antenna at

(04:22):
the back. It's too skinny. You can't do anything about it.
I said, well that's fine. I could just you know,
neuter the antenna. So I clipped the long tank antenna
and cleaned up some of the edging and and made
some of the parts more green so it looks better,
and whila, we have a pillow.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Now it looks like the tank has an end this
antenna on it.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Okay, it kind of does. Yes, right there you go.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
If you want to get one of those, you or
a dozen of those? What do you gotta do?

Speaker 1 (04:57):
It's just over on his Etsy page and I've been
poking at it trying to get the link he sent
it to me. I know it's up there. Let's just
search Etsy for tank radio pillow, Verify my device. Nope, yep, oh,

(05:19):
here we go. I'll go ahead and drop the link
to y'all in the chat. Boom. It's one of those
gross ones that looks like it never ends. But they're
on sale right now. Nice starting forty dollars, and the
bigger you get, they go up by ten dollars. There's

(05:39):
an extra large one. Oh how big is that? It
doesn't I don't see sizes off the bat here. Let
me fix the transition to show you the window I'm
looking at now. I keep forgetting you're not seeing what
I'm seeing. Boom. I think this will be second nature,

(06:01):
quirky QRP blah blah blah blah blah. I saw sizes,
item details shipping. Did you know somewhere earlier?

Speaker 2 (06:13):
It's his thickness on the I'm looking at the website,
not what you're putting on. If you go in details
any more about it, you say thickness varies from one
point nine inches to six point or sorry, five point
nine one inches?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Yeah, okay, yeah, so yeah, so you had to click
the details and then show more details, thank you. Let see.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
And then extra large twenty seven six yeah, twenty seven
point six.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
So that's two feet three feet, two feet two feet
and a half. What's just call it two feet and
a half. That would be huge. Oh. I just got
the medium for myself because I was going a little cheap,
but I wanted a larger one so I could take
both photos. I sent Mike the small one. If you

(07:11):
use there's a discount. What's the discount? See what.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
That picture? The text is right, but that picture is backwards.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, because it was showing one side and then the other.
So that's the inverse.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Oh okay, it's about Okay, it's a back the back view.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Okay, yep, yep. So yeah, first I thought of that too.
There is a discount code for five dollars off on
orders that are fifty or more. I'm gonna find it
in a bit, all right, I'm just going to search code.

(07:53):
Let me know if it to go takes blah blah blah.
Here you go. It's five h J quirky and that
would be five percent off I think any order over
fifty dollars. All right, everything's going to be in the
description and transition back. Boom, Paul's coming in.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Man, this nice proo.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
I'm looking at it. Good stuff.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Mm hmm. After I've been done with pictures, it's gonna
live behind me on the shelf somewhere.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I agree that the one of those sizes gets rid
of back pain, the other one gets rid of neck pain. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Right, then there were and I think the extra larga
gives you five dB. I love it, man, take it
to the park.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
How are you doing, Paul?

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Hey good? I just want to stop in.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
And say hi, howdy man. I just got back. I'm
kind of getting settled in and some stuff with the
way it thinks.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Just got back off of work.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
Yeah, from Japan. So yeah, the FTX was sitting here
waiting for me. So I was connecting that up.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Oh you got one of those.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Yeah, I'm not impressed.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Really well, you saw Jason's at Huntsville or not Huntsville Dayton.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
I mean, I like it, but I'm literally lost on it,
Like menu, how to pull a menu? I can't put
the battery in and keep the antenna plugged in and
the USB C charging on the battery.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
I think we can do that or is it what? What?
Because you can have the external battery and plug it in.
I thought I saw mister Yaz do that for us.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
So I have the battery, it has the USB C
you know, plug on it and charge just the battery
and plug it in. And I go to slide the
battery in and the antenna's in the way the USB
cable gets in.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
But but is there an external plug on the radio?

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Yeah, I can do the three point eight.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, so you plug that in with the external and
it charges both.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
From my understanding, I got to bring them a battery in.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
I guess I was trying to see if the battery
would charge because it wasn't really charged.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
And I think John showed us when we were doing
the quick demo at Dayton that you can have the
battery plugged in and then plug the external plug to
it and then it will charge the battery along with
power in the radio.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
I mean that would make sense.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
Yeah, you think, Yeah, it's been plugged into that USBC
charger and it's not charged at all.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
It's still one bar, so I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Well, pending which ones they implement, it can be slow.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
It's true, Mike.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Mike mentioned having problems with the USBC negotiation if it
wasn't a strong enough supply, so that could be noase
it didn't. The PD didn't work on it, so it

(11:12):
so I don't It was on Josh's after chat he
was talking about it, and I don't know. He said
he has a couple that it works with, and but
some of them it just doesn't work with. So it's
it's a very very finny key implementation. From what my

(11:36):
understanding is.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
I'll check the adapter. It may not be a fast
charging adapter, yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Definitely check if it's still one. My guess is it's
not charging at all.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Yeah, it's not charging.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
So the adapter may not have enough watts or amps
or something maybe, Yeah, but we'll see.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
How is this your first Yazoo radio out of curiosity?

Speaker 5 (12:01):
Yes, I've had all YESU until I bought the seven
O five last year in the seventy three hundred this year.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
So okay, So you're not unfamiliar with the menus, you
know how usually the deep menu system works and it
can be a pain.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Yeah, I've never really had a problem with it. Like
my one O one D is pretty easy. I think
the menu system the older ones weren't as good, but
the newer ones are better.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
So I mean it's not that it's like I couldn't
even literally find the menu button. There's no button that
says menu. I had to hold down the function button.
I think is what it was, and then it popped
up a button to push menu or something I can't remember.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Kind of weird.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
It brings nice though, It's nice, good size. I like
the angle that it sits at with just the battery.
I just got the field version because I've got a
Zayagu hundred AMP, hundred watt amp. I'm not going to
spend four six hundred dollars on another one, even though
even though it all fits and everything.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Well, that amp is mostly meant to be you know,
ran at the house.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
Yeah, you know it's nice, so to make it one unit.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
Jason's video yesterday, I think UH had it all together
there at the post.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Yeah, well, there's nothing to stop you for take that
whole thing. I take the whole easy FT d X
ten to the field, and people call me crazy, but.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
I think if I think, if I was to choose,
like let's say, Poda and home between uh the f
T one x and like a d X ten, I'd
take the d X ten.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yep, I've got one of those two. I like nice radio.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Yeah, I think I'd do that for both. If I
just wanted QRP, then yeah, I think it's a good one.
For q RP, but I'd rather have a d X
ten if I'm going to be having it for the
QTAH or PODA.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
But you can take the ultima out and then you
get a hundred watts.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yeah, you got.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
It's not that much more as weight and size wise
versus the ftd X ten.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
Yeah, I just yeah, I just think the capabilities of
the FD the FT d X ten is better to
the filter ain and everything. Really, you know, it's close
to what I have on my one on one D.
They say it's similar filters to the one on one D.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
We need to go PODA, I know, and you might
need to show me so I know all the basics
and how to change menus and I can get on
FTA and I could be fine with all that, but
I want to know how to turn on some more
of the advanced filters. I know some of them are
on always, but then how do you like tweak things?

(14:33):
And you got someone deep in the noisy? Oh that's easy.
And I know it's not the AI newer technology that
they have on the newer radios to denoise it, but
there's some on there that can really help.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
It has VC two right, the d X ten I
think I don't think the seven ten does.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
I think the d X ten has VC two.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Let me look, I don't remember seeing that thought.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
It's it's a ring on the back of the main
VFO nob.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Okay, Yes, there is a ring on the back of
No no, no, the ring on the back there's a
VFO nob and then there's the enter ring and that
enter ring just moves it one mega hurts or killer hurts.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Okay. So then you don't see a button that says
VC tune around it somewhere.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
I don't remember. See if we could pull a picture
of the front face FT d X DASH ten front panel.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
To you.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
I thought I did, and I see tons of videos
talking about it. Here we go, and I am just
going to share the image. O. Can we just open
this up in its own image in new tab? Look
at me? Oh, and that's going to be bad. We
can't see it here. I got stall blow it out.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
I don't see it. I see the notch.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
There's a notch, there's other gifts.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
There a fire h.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Q B M yeah, modes clear VFO. There's a zen
slash spot key. I don't know what that does. A
t x W I don't know what that does.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
Yeah, that's no. I guess it doesn't have it. You
got shift with notch on tour that all those things
on the far right, those two buttons and I guess
four knobs and enter and out of those are all filtering,
so that whole right side is filtering.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
But yeah, no VC tune, which is is just really
weird how the VC tune works.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
It keeps you on frequency, but it literally you can
watch the the waterfall move the noise away from the voice.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
It's very weird.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Well, yeah, I think that's there one of their newer features.
So it does make sense. It's not on the ftd
X ten and.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Then yeah, is that a hard button or is that
going to be hidden in the menu someone?

Speaker 5 (17:15):
Well, on the one O one because you got more space,
of course, there's more real estate. On the front, it's
got a VC tuned button, two of them, and then
the back ring. Uh so you're if you look at
it at that d X ten the front vfhon no
and then that back when is a ring that actually
you move it and it tunes the noise out.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
I don't think it's gonna have there.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
Yeah, well, I I remember reading that it had really
like if I was going to go between seven to
ten or d X ten, I do it's spend the
extra on the d X ten because of the filtering.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
From what I've read, it's better.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Well, I now see video saying yazy ftd X Oh
the one O one has it? This is the one
on one. Yeah, okay, that's that's what I'm Yeah, what's
makes sense. The one on one is a newer model.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
I'd have to I'd probably have to watch some videos
and see the filtering on the t X ten.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
I guess then, m h, very programmable buttons that maybe
a firmware update with when maybe enable that? Do you
think down the road?

Speaker 6 (18:19):
Just to god?

Speaker 1 (18:20):
It depends if that VC tune is needs specific hardware. Yeah,
if it's just a software thing, then they can, yes,
put it on there an update. But that's a pretty
advanced feature that they might just want to hold on
to the newer radios when the last time they didn't
update on the software.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
That's one thing to check a lot, especially the first
couple of years they come out with a lot of
firmware updates. I am reading here on the additional features
of the ten, it shows fifteen separate band pass filters
QRM rejection with the if DSP gift with notch d
n F d n R contour. So that whole wall,

(19:03):
like I've said, on the on the right side, all
those high quality super stable final amplifier utilizing the new
push pulls moss vet rd seven h U p uh
noise filtering f.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
R.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Yeah, I think I think you can just got to
play around with those filtering on the right an optional
three hundred hertz plug in roofing filter, but that's optional.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
So I just typed ft d X ten software just
to see if I can find their web page with
the latest firmware. And look at the first YouTube video
that pops up, how to update your a Zoo software
by Tank Radio.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Don't you love that?

Speaker 6 (19:45):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (19:47):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
See what I like to do is I go to.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
The products and I'll pull up see the x ten
and then you look at files and they just looked
down and says software you'll see. So for the d
X ten the last update was February twenty twenty four firmware.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I think actually there might be a new update then.
For me, I think the last my video shows twenty
twenty three mm, so there is an update. However, if
it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
True, unless an update has some feature that you want, Yeah,
you know.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yeah, if there's an obvious you know, thing that you're
running into that's not working, there's probably we can look
at the update info and it's probably just fix its
little things. An issue when sending PTT while decoding PSK

(20:56):
and reddy never use those features. I do f T eight.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
Use the repeater frequency shifty five hundred kills. Nothing major.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Yeah, there's just small tweaks. So if you don't see
an issue, then don't do it.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
Yeah, there's gonna be a lot for this f T
f T one X.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Well, yeah, brand new, go ahead, Backel.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Thank you said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it that.
I think they had that issue with the G ninety.
I'm not mistake. These updates came through that sort of
disabled a few other good things that people were looking
at it. I could be wrong with that.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Well, the G ninety had a there was an important
update where you needed to do it because it fixed
what a major issue. But then, like like you said,
I think an update or two they screwed the pooch
on like cloud flare and break a couple other features
and updating that G ninety is the biggest paint in

(22:01):
the butt. I did a video on that too, but
yay zoo is take XD card, drop this file on
the route of the XD card, then go into the
menu and say firmware update. Are you trying to update?
And out finds the file. You say yes, and boom done. Yep,
it was so easy. I don't even know why I

(22:23):
did a video on that, but I did, and so
many people like, well, this was the sole second nature.
But then I had tons of comments of hey, great video.
I did not know how to do that. I'm going
to see how many views it has now.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
Yeah, I just got to find a cablematic.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
For oh nice or fifty four hundred, fifty four hundred
and twenty comments.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
So.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Wow, It's seems obvious, but a lot of people are
searching for it. M But sometimes people just want to
watch a video on a step by step video and
I'm guilty of this too. I think this is easy,
but I just want to see someone do it and
talk through it once.

Speaker 6 (23:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
Yeah, And I don't mind when multiple people are doing
videos on the same thing, because some explain it in
a better way to understand for different people, and some
people catch things that other people miss.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
And you know, and that's why we say, when you
go to a ham Fist, film your point of view.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
Paul.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Yeah, I know. I did do two interviews, but I
don't know. I just I just enjoy.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
I don't have the mindset yet to walk around and
see like, oh I want to do video, this and this.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
I just want to enjoy it.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
I still have one more video to drop, and talking
about my scheduling mistake, I looked at the calendar and
I was like, oh, I need a main Monday video.
And I had one the creating the mass. I shot
that before Dayton and I had it in the pipe.
I said, this is going to give me a good
padding for it, and then I looked at the calendar

(24:16):
and freaked out. Sunday I was like, oh, I didn't
schedule a video for Monday. And I went ahead schedule that,
premiered it, did all the things. But then I sat down,
I looked at my calendar and started doing the live
stream main video livestream main video count for a upcoming
interview on trying to schedule I dropped that main video

(24:40):
right after my main live stream. I was like, no,
and now I don't have a video on the pipe
for this coming Monday, which I'm filming now. Yeah. And
then and then due to that Monday drop, I shifted
the live stream dates and I sent wrong dates to
Polo Hm. I forgot his name. It starts whipping a S.

(25:04):
And we're trying to clear that up now. Sebastian. Yeah,
oh sweet, he's able to overlook that. He said the eighth.
So he's going to be coming up in a couple
of weeks. We're gonna be talking about Polo.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
But yeah, I was just I just for two days.
I shifted the calendar the wrong way and I had
to put it in my fix it in the calendar
and get that right. I got one more video to
drop tomorrow. I didn't even drop a short today. It's Thursday. Nope. No,

(25:49):
I just been off. Yeah, I just just been off.
I have.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Even though you know you're not working. It's one of
the big things on your plate.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Yeah, the job. Michael and I were talking about that
this morning. I said about I did the job Searchest.
I got applied for insurance to the exchange. It's trying
to gather paperwork through that and all this other stuff,
and then it's finally nice enough, I molt the lawn,

(26:22):
and these things just slip away, And especially if AD
d my attention. When I think about it, I'm like, oh,
I should do that, but I'm not at the spot
of doing that. I do that in a minute, and
then it will never come back. And this is how
I get stuff stuff like this.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Join the club. Yeah, okay, I think we all do
a little bit about all of us. So there you go,
and it's not.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
A bad thing.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
It's just you just try to deal with it. But
you know your schedule. I think most people don't know
the amount of time it takes to film something, edit it,
do what you gotta do to make it, write and
get that thing published. I mean, that's a little bit
of worse if I'm not mistaken. And I think maybe

(27:12):
you're more used to it now than you used to be,
so it's easier for you.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
I think it was scheduling between the work. So when
I had a regular y'all y'all like mondays, I will
come home for a little bit, eat dinner, grab the laptop,
I'll go and I sit down at my cigar bar
and I pump out a couple of sorts from the

(27:36):
Monday video that just dropped, and I answer emails and
I can schedule those real fast. And then like Tuesdays,
I'm sometimes back at the cigar bar. Oh wait, things
are shifted, so Mondays I'm hanging out my friends. Now
I'm not doing anything tank radio Tuesdays or my days
in the cigar bar, and I do the sorts. Wednesdays,

(27:59):
I meet up with another frame group. Thursdays, I sit
down and edit again. But when I edit, I do
it to fruition. I don't have things stuck in a pipe.
I upload something, I make sure I put the description on.
I make sure I do the tags and schedule it.
If it's not scheduled, it will be ready to schedule later,

(28:21):
like the next day. But I'm getting this short dropping
now rope roller. But but it was since it was
just so structured, it flowed easier. Now I'm so loosey goosey.
I'm like, oh, I should do this, and I should
do that, and I do that after the other thing,

(28:44):
and it just plates are falling, and they needlessly falling.
They don't need to fall.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Well, you know, being in business with me, I run
from one fire to the next. And something's always broken
at one of the restaurants, always on a computer issue,
it's something else, but we don't have to update, you know,
a whole slew of cash registers.

Speaker 7 (29:13):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
The other guys put Windows IoT, Windows town IoT on
because they weren't ready for Windows eleven, which is you know,
Internet of things, I guess. But there's there's just all
kinds of weird stuff. And again, trying to keep up
is a life challenge that happens. So and I think

(29:36):
you've done pretty damn well, be honest.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
I did, okay, thank you. I appreciate that. And I'm
just gonna keep it up and.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
Just keep moving forward.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
Things there might be just dropping late.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
See this thing. See this, my wife, she made this
for me.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
I was at I like it.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
I love it, okay. And I do wear glasses the work, Okay,
I normally worried. I used to wear a necktie a lot. Okay.
I carried the briefcase the whole nine ords. So this
is me before hand. Radio got ahold of me, okay,
and it's just something cool. I don't know where she

(30:22):
gets these what's it say? Uh something pops something.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
That's a fun funko pop.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Yeah, they're kind of cool. Okay, And if you have
someone you want to get one of these four. I
don't know what you paid for, but she said, you
know this is you and shut up. So that's what she's.
Just a thought stuff like that, you know. You know
that used to be me and I was very focused.
Not so much anymore, so just a thought. Too many antennas,

(30:54):
too many radios, too many everything.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Yeah, oh oh, we got the other Michael coming in,
so let's it's kind of that time for me to
start thinking ahead for winter. And I'm thinking on trying
to do a black hoodie this year. I try to
change something on the hoodie every year. It didn't happen

(31:19):
last year. We had a new manufacturer, so I just
let it be. But what do you think about do
a black hoodie and use some of the same logos,
the gray style and just do the same kind of
blackout hoodie. So the great the gray patches, the gray tank,
radio down the arm, and my my crest, the gray scale.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
Yeah, gray, let's get on black.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
I love the shirt I got. In fact, I wore
it and smoking ape saw me with it, okay, so
I was more your stuff to him, okay, and it
was good. So, uh that shirt that shirts. I like
that shirt better than the last shirt, and so I'll
probably like the hoodie better than the last hoodie. Now,

(32:10):
are you gonna do zip up hoodie or?

Speaker 1 (32:12):
I like zip ups? I don't like pullovers because me
being a bigger man, usually when I grab it, then
my shirt comes up and I don't want to embarrass
everybody of my giant keg that monstrous awesomeness a. So
so I tend to wear I like zip ups because
I just I hate that whole pullover and then the awkward.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
I do all zip ups now.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
Yeah, yeah, Jason like likes pullovers and that's why his
is pullovers. But I I I.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Just like.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
The the the regular zip up hoodies. Why aren't you
correcting my spelling? Hey, Michael, how are you doing?

Speaker 6 (33:02):
Hey? Guys, I'll see everyone.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Doing good, doing good? Talking about the new blackout T shirt. Yeah,
we were just talking to Michael. I was thinking about
doing a blackout hoodie the same style.

Speaker 7 (33:19):
Yeah, Black's my color, not just my disposition and mood.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
I love it. I love it all right, then I'll
start working on that. But the great part is I
don't have to do any more logo work. I think
that's already done and the only thing major thing I've
changed would just tell her to do the tank radio
lettering just in that same gray as the main graphic,

(33:48):
and that'll be easy to grab at RBG value and
call it a day.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Yeah, well, we're all going to look extra handsome in
that hoodie.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
I believe I wear the shirt. My wife can't keep
her hands off of me. I'll just so everybody needs
to get one of those advertisement trust me, you guys
will be chick magnets, trust me.

Speaker 7 (34:18):
Okay, yeah, what's the under on that.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
I've got the shirt.

Speaker 5 (34:24):
I like it nice. I'll get the hoodie with the carabiner.
Do the carabiner the carabater.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
I'm gonna extra. We just did mugs. The lighters are
on indefinite hold because I have to I'm front up
front the money for him, and I am not in
the spot to do that, so I need a pivot
and find something else. That's why I'm looking at doing
like the easy, well not easy. I want to update

(34:59):
the hoodies every year. The blackout t shirts were an
easy update and I just needed kind of keep pivoting.
What what are some other like ideas for one off
tank radio merchandise.

Speaker 6 (35:19):
I don't know you guys, you have rocks glasses, We.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Got the ooh, I don't think I have any more
of these, the the whiskey tumblers. Yeah, yeah, those those
were one year.

Speaker 7 (35:34):
I just realized I could use the set of those.
I kind of got liking old fashions.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Oh, old fashions are amazing, right.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Didn't we talk about a beer glass with a nucleated
bottom on it?

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yes, that that's in the merch ideas. I got to
pull that up.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
That that nucleated bottom on that on that glass, and
I think Libby can do that for you. Libby will
make those glasses, okay, and you might be able to
get them to put a tank radio logo in the
bottom of that glass for me. H, I b b y,
I think it's Libby glass. I think it's I'll find.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
Out and might that Google Google about it?

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Yeah? So just that's what we use a word. And
they buy these bubbles and always come up and out
of the beard, out of the bottom of the beer glass.
It's kind of a cool thing, so and there and there.
They'll be unique to the hammerdio community because nobody thinks
or knows about that concept. So just a thought. I
can send you to do those glasses if you want

(36:41):
to see what we're using when me.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Do that, if you want, I've used glasses like that before. Okay, okah,
so that should be all right. I'm just gonna be
clicking through that and see what they can do. I
saw this another site I used to order those mugs
have the same style of glasses, probably not custom etching

(37:03):
at the bottom, but they will do logos and everything
on them.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
There you go, good.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Well, I wonder that would stress me out, just like
the whiskey tumblers. Shipping those oh Man, creating the packaging
and just that those tumblers stressed me a lot. Yeah,
it was just so thin walls. I was so worried,
especially after the first batch broke and shipping every one

(37:31):
of them broke. Oh wow, Yeah, she she redid them
and did a claim on them and handled all that
for me. Great, great lady. That was the the our
old distributor or fulfillment lady over in Huntsville. We got
a new person over now over here in Texas that's

(37:52):
doing all of our stuff, Jason and I.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
But when did they put the logo on? When did
said after the glasses made?

Speaker 1 (38:02):
The glasses made? This one's laser etched. Okay, what I'm
seeing here at this one's site is looks like it's
screen printed.

Speaker 6 (38:15):
Well, that etching would be much better.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
I wonder.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
He just looks like it's printed after the fact. Oh,
they do have laser.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
What if? What if we could send them a bunch
of blank glasses.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
I'm they probably won't to accept them, but there's people
around here that do laser etching. I could talk to.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
What I'm saying is you could you could buy those
same glasses. I don't even know what we're paying for,
but I can find out if you're interested, Okay, and
then and then etche them after the fact.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
I'll look into it. I'll look into it, Okay, all right,
So that this is a quest, I think the beer
glasses will be the next thing. It makes sense, right,
we got the tumblers and then we need the glass.
I thought about steins like a tank radio beer Stein

(39:20):
like German style with this, and then have someone custom
make the the German Stein with tank radio iconogragraphy on it.
I was like, Oh, that would be so cool, but
a lot of money.

Speaker 3 (39:36):
You know. We looked at a coming up with this
concept to sell like hot dogs and have beer, and
we we're gonna call it Frank and Stein's Frank. That's
your wait happened? Okay?

Speaker 6 (39:53):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
So the wing guy Michael being on the line here,
I need to send Mike a message because we did
the sour challenge right before Huntsville over on his channel,
he ate a bunch of sour stuff. I was like,
I am going to do a spicy one, and I've
been talking to my brother like what would be the
best format for it, because I was just gonna go

(40:18):
to Wingstop and get some wings. But it came up.
I was like, Oh, if I don't really care about
them being really hot as in temperature wise, they might
be cold, I can run a little farther north and
pick up wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, get a set
of five from Hooters, get a side of five from Pluckers,
get a said five from Wingstop, and make them all

(40:38):
the hottest and have twenty wings in front of me,
all the hottest wings. And that's called to compliment Mike's
sour challenge.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Oh, making me hungry.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
I'm making myself hunger. I already had hot dogs and
checking nuggets.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
Yeah, of this thing called the Blazing Challenge, and you
have to you've done it. Yes, we give awards out
and shirts and stuff for that, and there's a waiver
we made people sign, right, But I've never done it,
my sholf, but I don't think. I don't think.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
I did it with some friends when I was working
for a past company and we sat down at the
table and they brought us the wings. And my friend
has a videos like all right and go, and I'm
just sitting there eating the wing and the manas's standing
there and I get to the fourth wing and I'm
just eating it like normal and talking and having fun.

(41:38):
They're like, you're not showing any pain, Frank. I'm like, oh, ow,
it's hot. And the manager at that point walked away.
He's like, I'm gonna go eat your shirt. It was like,
you got this, just give me your shirt I accidentally ordered.
I don't know if I told this story here. I

(42:00):
think I did it on a live stream. I was
driving up to my cigar bar and I wanted, uh, wings.
I ordered it from Ringstop because their next door ish
to the cigar bar, and since I was driving, I
I thought I hit Cajun, but their Cajun was really
next close to their Atomic, which is their hottest level.

(42:24):
And I went through and confirmed and I picked it
up and I sat down and opened them up. I'm like,
those don't look like the Cajun wings. And then I
look at the receipt on the bag. It says atomic.
I was like, that's not what I ordered. And I
go to the email and the email says atomic and
I was like, well, that's my mistake, so I ate them.

(42:44):
I was like I just had a little beads a
sweat popping up. That that was it. I was like,
this is hot.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Yeah, how does go with the real robust cigar? That's
what I'm gonna ask.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
I actually waited twenty minutes. I was like, I'm not
gonna smoke a cigar right away, and the guys are like,
why aren't you smoking yet? I was like, I just
had atomic wings. I'm just gonna let this mouth cools
and reset while I go ahead and come back to it.

Speaker 3 (43:14):
Glass of glass of milk, glass of milk.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
Yep, yeah, well, the glass of milk. For me, it's
to help the stomach and other things later. So I've
done this the last several times I ate really spicy stuff.
I drank like a half court or a quart of
milk beforehand, and they're like, well, you're priming yourself. I said, fine,
I'll just wait here ten minutes, and I did, and

(43:38):
then I ate the wings. So it was like it's
already gone, enziyes are gone. I'm doing that to help
the stomach and everything else later.

Speaker 4 (43:46):
The later thing is the most important. That's the world.

Speaker 1 (43:50):
Oh man, But I love spiciness. There is a place
I know of in Arlington and also Richardson that has
spicier wings than all these places combined. It's Nashville Hot Chicken.
The place is called rix Ricks Hot Chicken, and it

(44:11):
is like there, their atomic level is like a level three.
I eat their level four when I go there, and
some days I'm like, where's the spice? And then I
eat their level five. I'm like, oh, yeah, that's why
I don't eat a level five. Like their level five
is like a Carolina Reaper and the scorpion pepper combined

(44:32):
with hobbin air on everything all the dust they do below.
It's it's unreal and I love eating it. I love
feeling like a dragon afterwards, you're walking around. Every time
you breathe out, your mouth gets hotter. It's just the
temperature in virgin irritates it more and it gets more intense.

Speaker 3 (44:57):
You eat the wings and it's deaf con five right there.
You go, Okay, what.

Speaker 1 (45:08):
Okay? But yeah, so there the the atomic and you're blazing.
I think that is settling around the level three for me.
I can eat them, and I will eat them. I'm
thinking that would be next Wednesday, So watch up for
a pop up stream. I'll tweet about it and post

(45:29):
it everywhere?

Speaker 3 (45:30):
Can I?

Speaker 6 (45:31):
Can?

Speaker 3 (45:31):
I say one more thing before? Yes, If you take
that blazing sauce at Buffalo Wild Wives and you take
an old beat up Lincoln panty okay all right, and
you put that sauce on it and rubber real good,
it'll look like the day was made.

Speaker 8 (45:48):
It will look like the day it was made. Okay,
So there, try it.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
So I just named this episode dropping hot plates. I
always try to like combine things that we talk about
to name the episode something funny. I just enjoy that
any any other thoughts coming out of Dayton. Michael, you

(46:22):
don't know how close you were to be on camera.
After we talked, I saw, uh, Mastro, Okay, thank you Mastro.
And I met up and we talked and I told him,
if I see you again, I'll put you on camera.
And I saw you three times walking through other buildings,
so we just did catch our eye and I was like,

(46:44):
all right, I let him go. I let him go.
I was like after the third time, I was like,
all right, if I see him one more time, I
am definitely gonna pull them and you're gonna get that question.

Speaker 3 (46:52):
Well and and help me again.

Speaker 6 (46:54):
I saw that.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
I saw the question get answered by a bunch of people.
I can't remember what the question was at this point.

Speaker 1 (47:01):
It was.

Speaker 6 (47:04):
The hobby thing.

Speaker 1 (47:06):
Yeah, what is your radio chase? That hobby?

Speaker 3 (47:11):
Great question.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
Yeah, And I let people kind of cheat a little
bit and be like, just just tell me your other
hobby if they if if you can't think of one.
So we had a lot of good answers. Do you
have one?

Speaker 3 (47:24):
Michael me, Well, yeah, I'm a pretty avid coin collector.

Speaker 6 (47:32):
Okay, cool, and I do a lot of that.

Speaker 3 (47:36):
Morgan Silver dollars is my weakness. That's me. I get
into the firearms thing. I do that, So that's me,
And I don't know. That's That's pretty much about it
with me. I'm sure these are I'm sure everybody else
on here has them too, Craig, So I don't know

(47:56):
that's me.

Speaker 1 (47:57):
Yeah, let's just go around the table. Let's do a
second Michael blackout, Michael napping, mapping.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
Napping, napping, sleepy.

Speaker 6 (48:09):
Napping hobby.

Speaker 1 (48:12):
That's an excellent hobby when I could take a nap,
now I have time to and I don't feel tired. Yeah,
naps are awesome.

Speaker 6 (48:21):
Give it another ten years, Frank, you'll feel tired all
the time.

Speaker 1 (48:24):
Right right, jeff Man, what is your hand radio adjacent hobby?
Or what is another hobby that you dabble in?

Speaker 2 (48:40):
Another hobby I dabble in and I haven't done it much?
Is uh rocket mass heaters, rocky mass stoves, types of
thing for it? Fully wood wood bringing, fey efficient wood
burning uhs and stoves. I'll go with that one.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
Nice. And did I get you on camera? Paul?

Speaker 5 (49:03):
Oh? I think I don't remember. I think so, I
know we talked a lot. Maybe maybe I know.

Speaker 1 (49:09):
Like we we this hand out a lot. What what
is your off real fast off your head?

Speaker 4 (49:16):
Silver coins.

Speaker 5 (49:17):
I used to, but they've doubled in price since I started,
so I haven't done that for a while. So I'd
have to say three D printing. Three D printing mostly
tabletop figures. That's something my son does for his business.
He designs them. Oh, I print more with resin than
I do filament, and I don't do it as much
as I would like.

Speaker 1 (49:36):
But yeah, nice, I'm going to take the joss Is
answer between you know, working at a regular job and
doing the YouTube for this is like my second hobby
is video editing photography, because that's that's all I kind
of got time to do well when I had a job.

(49:56):
Now I'm making sure the house is cleaned up and
mowing the lawns and that's almost a job, and it's outright,
I paid for that.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
I was thinking for you possibly be either whiskey or cigars.

Speaker 1 (50:14):
That that that's a passion that no, what yes, we
can say consumption is a hobby. Yeah, an excellent full
body cigar I like, and pairing it with a good
bourbon and then right after that, sitting with the guys

(50:35):
and see a cigar just forces me to stop for
an hour and a half and I love it for
that aspect. So I'm not bouncing around the house and
doing things here and there and never finishing a project
or tour. Just gives me a chance to slow down,
and I really like that. Then, bourbon, it just helps

(50:57):
you and enjoy the day. Now with drinking, I know
my close friends know this and a lot of the
other YouTubers is I have a rule no drinking alone.
So you know, you see me drink on camera a lot,
enjoy the beverage. As soon as that camera's done, I

(51:17):
might finish what's in the glass, but after that, no more.
And when I just sit at home and relaxing, no alcohol.
So I used to drink and I just did not
like when I was alone, where the headspace went. So
I was like, you know what, I just don't need
to do that, and I haven't that being said, there's

(51:39):
I got your other bottle sitting right here by in
front of me.

Speaker 5 (51:46):
On the cheaper sides, I didn't get it. I should ask,
I should ask Robert, but I thought.

Speaker 1 (51:52):
Our Japanese whiskey or yeah whiskey, not entrepreneur. What what's
the word I'm grasping for.

Speaker 4 (52:03):
Fishing something like that.

Speaker 1 (52:06):
What's the guy at a restaurant? I need the wine guy.
That's where I was trying.

Speaker 5 (52:13):
To pull like a like a concierge, but for cigar
or for what whiskey?

Speaker 4 (52:19):
What would that?

Speaker 1 (52:20):
It's We're gonna ask someone a someone who that's close.
There it is there you go, he's our whiskey. That
Robert knows a lot about Japanese whiskey. I'm like, uh,

(52:42):
Jason and I are writing his coattails. Bring us a
bottle whatever he says.

Speaker 3 (52:48):
Nice?

Speaker 1 (52:50):
Oh man, Well, we got a couple more minutes here.
Is there any other things or topics? Andy, y'all want
to bring up any other questions?

Speaker 3 (53:03):
I'm gonna ask next ham Fest for you, Fray, next one?

Speaker 1 (53:08):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (53:09):
Where do you think you'll be next? You do? Huntsville again?

Speaker 1 (53:13):
Huntsville? Yes, I say I'm a maybe on that, just
because money, on the other hand, Tank Radio Funds is
kind of good right now. So if I still keep
my head low, I should be there and able to
afford it through take Radio. There is a trip that

(53:36):
I'm also answered as a maybe for the YouTuber's trip.
The what we call ourselves the Overlanding Crew no National
Park Adventures, and that will be in mid July. That's
not really an open invite. We might announce where we

(53:56):
are going and if you just happen to be in
the area, great, but that that's kind of what's coming
up next. So we're finishing out the handfsts for this year.
We already did Orlando, we just completed Dayton. We got
two months of relax and then Huntsville. I will be
doing a field Day thing. I think it's going to

(54:18):
be me and Robert and Paul. We're always invited. Mike
told me today he's out. He had a family thing
come up, so he's going to be doing family over
summer field Day this year. Jason is doing a trip
with his wife over at field Day this year. Like,

(54:39):
how do y'all? This is like our one holiday for
amateur radio. And both of them have stuff pop up,
but it happens sometimes I'm not playing with them.

Speaker 3 (54:48):
You know why I had I had a daughter get
married on you know, for on field Day weekend. And
the guys in my club, we have a nice big club.
They're looking at me, says who gets married on field Day?
Who would do that. You know, guys, I can't make
it this year. It's one of those deals.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
So family, since you said married, my my brother is
engaged and they we're talking wedding plans with that. But
I was telling my friends some of the news and
stuff around that. They're like, Frank, if you get married,
you're gonna have a radio in there somehow. You're the
priest is going to be on the other side of
the radio doing your vowels, and you're just gonna see

(55:26):
a radio in front of them, and that's how you're
gonna get married. Frank and I just left really hard.
It's like, oh, I could do that. We could do
it over h F and then you know, he doesn't
have to be in the same state or a country.
And they're like, Frank, you're thinking too much about this.
This was a joke. I'm like, but it's possible. No, no, no,
she's not gonna want that if you get married. I

(55:47):
guarantee it. She's going to say no. As soon as
you suggest that.

Speaker 3 (55:52):
Maybe we get the pope, maybe we get the pope.

Speaker 6 (56:00):
That day is all about her, right right.

Speaker 7 (56:05):
You know what, when it came to my wedding forty
some years ago. I only asked to do one thing,
and that was picked the band. I'm still regretting it.

Speaker 3 (56:19):
That's what you get for hiring Van Halen.

Speaker 6 (56:21):
Okay, yeah, that's it.

Speaker 7 (56:24):
I you know, instead of going with the traditional polka group,
I went with a more rock band style and yep,
bad decision, Mike first, bad decision.

Speaker 1 (56:38):
Oh that's funny.

Speaker 3 (56:39):
You were sleeping on the couch from day one. Not good.

Speaker 1 (56:48):
All right, y'all, Well, thank y'all for joining. I appreciate it.
I'm sorry again for the short notice rescheduling for a
Memorial Day. I was and thinking when I set out
all the emails. I'm sorry, but we're here. We're having
this work for me. Yeah, but yeah, thanks y'all. Go

(57:12):
forth and conquer.

Speaker 7 (57:13):
Say bye bye bye.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
Thank you to all my patreon supporters. You can support
me on Patreon. There's a link in the description below.
And to all my tankers out there, go forth and conquer.
