(03:23):
They have a couple of radios being sold. This is
over stock and gigaparts are switching their uh five percent
off to points. If I think it's used tank at
checkout still you get five percent off, or it's my
call sign Kilo, Golf five Alpha, Hotel Juliette and you

(03:43):

Thank y'all for joining, And how are you all today?
Let's just start at the top left, Freddy, how are
(04:05):
you doing there?
Speaker 3 (04:09):
We go all right, let me let me edit my introom.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Beautiful phone.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
We're fixed, We're fixed, We're fixed. It's yeah, it's Windows Audio.
It's all kind of a little messed up on my
computer for of course, but I'll fix that later. Thank you, Paul,
Thank you for joining. Mike. Let's continue on. How you doing, Mike.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Well, nobody knows what the first two guests said, but.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
You can just say what we said they were.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
They were both giving stuff away.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, it's nobody's gonna know.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
I guess they said, put a one in the chat
and you'll get the seven seventy three mark too, And
nobody put one in the chat, so I'm getting it now.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
I'm doing good.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
Good to be back home after a long week of
primitive care vamping. But yeah, I did very little today.
I had every I woke up this morning with every
intention of PODA. I did a little q R p
Pote yesterday with the qm.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
X, and I wanted to go out again.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
But then I realized I had a slab of ribs
in the fridge that I needed to I spent the
day doing nothing while my tragger cooked the ribs.
Speaker 7 (05:22):
I'd bless the hate that thing.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
Tragger sucks. I hate it.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
I can't say, well, good. I like a good old
wood offset grill and smoker. That is my thing. But Mike,
I know you did a video on stuff you bought.
We'll go ahead and circle back around that here in
a minute. Ellie, I'm sorry, Ellen, Ellie, let l like
(05:53):
you are.
Speaker 8 (05:56):
I take I say I take three l's a day
because my name is Elle, and as it takes two
to spell it, there's always three l's in my day.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Well, thank you for joining. I was trying to get
an interview schedule for you. We'll do that later, but
I just thought, hey, it would be fun for you
to come on and hear what the what Huntsville Hamfest
is about and maybe get you out there one time
next year.
Speaker 8 (06:21):
Oh yeah, I'm definitely. I've got it like already marked
on my calendar for next year. I just need to
I heard the cabins already sold out now, so that's
crazy that already a year in advance, everything's already like hooked.
But definitely next year, I'm planning to get out there
for sure. But as far as what I'm planning on
doing next, I just bought a Chameleon antenna, the hybrid
(06:41):
micro with the you know, like the roll up antenna.
I needed something for Poda and Soda versatility. But because
as much as I would love to have like a
setup for each event, I just financially can't do that.
So I thought, oh why not I get a roll
up antenna for Poto and Soda I have yet to
feel tested, So that's on my list of things to
do for this week. I have two HF radios right now.
(07:04):
I have the eight ninety one from Jesu and as
I do sixty two hundred loan to me, so I'm
excited to potentially do a Poda setup this weekend. But
Dad's got a solar panel thing. He's got a big
old battery that I'm gonna borrow and try to get
something up done out there.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
And what's your call sign?
Speaker 8 (07:24):
Will Fast Keilo, Juliet five Lima X Ray Papa.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
So go ahead and put that in your ham alerts
so you can go ahead and we can go ahead
and find you and hunt you and get that park
activated fast. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (07:40):
I just signed up for PoTA too, so definitely we'll
make an announcement.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
It is fun. It's fun. And then running the pile
ups is amazing. I love I love doing it. Well,
let's go ahead and move over to Robert. Robert Man,
how are you doing.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
I am doing fantastic. I'm still basking in the news
of Icon, all the wonderful things that we learned from
Icon in the last couple of days. Thank you, Paul. Yeah,
thank you Paul for all the hard work there. I'm
sure you've got like I don't know. I'm sure there's
probably a term for that. It's not tennis elbow, but.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
It's super elbow tuber elbow eldo.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Maybe two.
Speaker 5 (08:29):
So Paul was you know his uh his live stream
was like two plus hours like around chasing people down,
speaking Japanese like a like a samurai.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I am ashamed that I did not see it live.
I'm sorry, Paul.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
It's okay.
Speaker 9 (08:50):
I uploaded the HD version from the go pro. It's
not the whole thing because the battery died. But you
can actually see things on the HD when I uploaded
last night.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
Nice Nice, I like that was a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Unlike another YouTuber out there that just you know, sits
at home and let someone else's carries the camera around.
Paul is actually at the hand fest looking at that.
Speaker 9 (09:16):
No, I actually caught on the on the flight was
when Josh's stream was I caught. I was able to
get the last half of it. The wife I actually
worked for me.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Yeah, it didn't.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Work for us. On the way back. Both Robert and
I were WiFi lists on the way back.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
That that was.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
We But the whole time we were flying, We're doing
mesh tastic back and forth. It was so much fun.
And was it? Shane, one of the hrc C crew flew.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
With us, and he didn't have ginger Shane.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, like throw something at him, tell them to get
mess tastic.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
I can't affor word it. After buying you know all
those Motorola radios that he's you know, he's got like
a utility belt. I don't know. Oh my, did you
guys see him walk around? He's like the like the
Batman utility belt. It's got like, yeah, he's got like
thirty thousand dollars of radios strapped on his utility belt.
(10:19):
It's crazy.
Speaker 7 (10:21):
You can get mugged out a ham fest that way.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
So wow.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Well, if anybody else knew how to operate a motorola, maybe,
But when.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
We landed the I think it was William the air
flight attendant looked at him as he got up the seat.
He's like, did you use any of those radios when
we're on the flight. He's like, oh no, I was like,
but me and Robert were texted back and forth. Ups,
He's like, how is that working now? It's it's over bluetooth.
He goes, oh, okay, yeah, I didn't tell him this
(10:49):
bluetooth to the radio. Then nine megas out for that.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
But wait, let me get your advantage number and get you.
Speaker 7 (10:56):
Now on the no fly list.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Uh huh need American? I live on American Now.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
I would never say done the same thing.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
I never put my phone an airplane mode when I.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Fly, Mike, there's such a reb.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Is it like the icon?
Speaker 3 (11:14):
I do because it saves your battery?
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Yeah? Same, Yeah, I do it to save battery and
also I'm working on the laptop of the whole flight.
Let's start with Mike, Man, what what what did you
bring from Huntsville? What what did Good East did you
buy and bring back?
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (11:36):
Well, I did a video on that you did. I
think most people have have seen that. But one thing
I want to show the things that I forgot to
show in that video.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Yes, because several I've had this for a while.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
But okay, if Rob's wearing his icon hat and presumably
Paul that's icon in Japanese that you're wearing, I.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Don't know that sign one GBC, so I still don't
have any comment.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
You're missing out man.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
It adds six dv uh So, right after I bought
this terrible, horrible, crappy nightcore flashlight that I do not
recommend at the show, I bought something that I had
seen a few months ago and it was like back
ordered because I guess it just got released. But another flashlight,
(12:28):
This is a woobin.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
I got one in my bucket.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Yeah I think I saw yours there.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Pretty bad?
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Oh yeah yeah yeah, like a little you know it.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
Does that's a funky little flash light thing. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
It's got a mad.
Speaker 6 (12:43):
And then the clip comes out so you can like
put at different places and it's it does like RGB.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
And all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 7 (12:52):
So I was like, yeah, or your face, I mean yeah,
your front doesn't.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Have h do am I no?
Speaker 4 (13:01):
No, but it does USBC.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
PRS.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
So then Paul, being the the great person that he is,
knowing that I like sour stuff, and he goes to Japan.
Japan has these sour candies. So Paul got me two
bags of this. So whatever that says, whatever, we don't
know what flavor this is. Flavor was lemon, and the
(13:27):
lemon one like lemon is like I love lemon. So
that and then at At uh uh what's it called
Gigabarts on Thursday? Uh A fine, gentleman. I'm gonna talk
nice about Ohio for a minute. So Ohio people perk
up your ears. So they have these candies called Buckeyes.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
And he gave me a whole box of these buck eyes.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Now for the for the uninitiated, so story, I grew
up in Michigan.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
That's why I hate Ohio.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
But there their little peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate.
There were there were there were two layers.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
I shared a couple. I shared a couple. I think
literally too.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
But he shared one to a couple. They had to
split it.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
Yeah, So at Friday at the pavilion, a fine gentleman
came up and it handed me this.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Which I was nice enough to open at the thing.
Speaker 6 (14:44):
Literally poured myself, Josh and Jason just a little. We
all just wanted a little taste of it. And then
I like, I was kind of I was sitting on
the picnic bench and I just set it down behind
me and continued conversing. The next thing I know, I
turn around and it's half empty.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
No contribute.
Speaker 8 (15:08):
Scotch.
Speaker 6 (15:10):
It's a wheated Kentucky bourbon, Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey whiskey.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
A howeated whiskey.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
And then another fine gentleman came up to me. I
was I was at my car doing something I don't know,
but he came up to me and hands me this.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
Bag from Aldie. He's like, I got you something. And
I looked inside and there's a bottle of lands.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (15:38):
Did not even let anybody know I had it put
it in my car immediately because I knew it would
be gone immediately.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Did he say this is yours, Mike, I want you
to have this because then it's yours.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
He gave it to me out in the parking lot.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
Yeah, like I'm sure a lot of people, a lot
of people are like, yeah, I share it with every No.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Because here's the thing.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
Like I like whiskey, but I don't drink it, like Frank,
does you know? I'm like, give me a Jamers and Coke.
I'm happy, you know, so stuff like this will last.
Like I've got a bottle of McAllen twelve year old
that I've had. One of the contractors that I worked
with when I was in the tile industry down here.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
Gave it to me. I still have some.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
So these are like, you know, special things, and then
some sadist on I think it was Saturday night at
Jason's campground when we were all partying, came up and
gave me a.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Bottle of Oh I saw that good.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
Nothing good can happen from a clear bottle of clear Mason.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
This is straight up Kentucky moonshine. So you don't know.
I have not opened it.
Speaker 7 (16:51):
He's wearing glasses now.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Well I wear contacts, but I was too lazy to
put him in. Uh, there's the safety seal has popped.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
So you know what, let's maybe can I get drunk
just by breathing it?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Drink?
Speaker 7 (17:05):
You won't have to trim your nose hairs.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Yeah, it smells like really good with whisky and.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Like leather or something that's kind of interesting. So but
it smells it's actually smells really good.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
So I think that's all the stuff that I didn't
show on the on the video. So that's what I got.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
I'm gonna have to ask Elle, what did you just drink?
Speaker 8 (17:33):
I I think I don't know. It's whisky. We have
like a little shooter of the brand, and I just
don't know the name. I'm not picky when it comes to.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Alcohol, but so what what is your poison of choice?
Is it Bourbon? Is it? What? What? Gotch? Scotch?
Speaker 8 (17:54):
Definitely not Scotch. I've had Scotches and it's just it's
not for me. It's mainly bourbon.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
You'll fit in just fine.
Speaker 8 (18:03):
I love it, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
I also still have at my desk. That's how much
is left of that Carolina Reaper Caughton candy I've been eating.
So yeah, and it's starting to shrink because the air
interacts with it. So if I get a couple of
super chats. I'll knock that out. It's it's really good.
(18:28):
I don't know why people are be like, here, it's
a super chat. Frank, you'll just eat it. But we'll
knock that out later. Freddy, Well, what did you get
over at the.
Speaker 7 (18:39):
I'll tell you what I got in. Of course, y'all know.
We we get a press pass and we get in
a little bit early. And I ran over to the
flea market because I was looking for a y.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
And I, you're abusing your press pass.
Speaker 7 (18:54):
No, my camera was on the entire time. I had
to erase it because of the tears that came after.
Because I walked by one one hundred and twenty five bucks.
I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna go check this
one table and I turned around. I nope, I'm gonna
go back and get it. And the dude was handing
him the money. As soon as I turned around.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
I'm like, yeah, that said Witch model.
Speaker 7 (19:16):
The FT seventy nine hundred. It's a dual band but
it's single receive, but it's got the data port in
the back. They're great for all stalk. And then I
went to a table. Two tables away from that table,
and the guy was paying the guy for the two
that he just bought from him, and it was the
only ones I see the whole show. So I did
get lucky and I got I knocked a bucket list
item off and got an a linko.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
It's the what's that model number?
Speaker 7 (19:41):
Yeah, the d R two thirty five. It's the Alinko
two twenty mega hurts one hundred and fifty bucks.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
It's a good radio.
Speaker 7 (19:48):
Yeah, it's a really good shape, really good shape, and
I'm trying to get outside of my comfort zone with
the radios that I've been using for All Star links,
so I grabbed a Kenwood in a eight hundred K.
It's UHF but it does NXDN, which I'm gonna use
it for the analog side of things. But it has
(20:09):
a nice success report on the back so that you
can access all the things that you need for All
Starling got the software in the programming cable end today,
so be looking for videos on those and we'll see
if I can put my money where my mouth is.
So but that was all I got.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Thank you, Freddy. I saw this question asked earlier in
the chat. I forgot who asked it was Icon heading
out hats because we all had the Icon hat and
I had to dig mine up.
Speaker 6 (20:37):
No.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
I got this at Dayton this year. And I know
Mike got his at Dayton because it's the same hat.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
But I com no, this looks different. Does you just
have the little trucker mesh thing on the back?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
No, actually no, this no trucking mess. I got the
seventy five and that's what I thought. It was hell Ray.
Speaker 7 (20:58):
Rock in the old Icon throwing the variety out there.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
This might be the newest one.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
I got the seventy five one, and I think this
was last year or the year prior when they announced
the the new seventy five edition of the I'll ask.
Speaker 6 (21:15):
Him, Yeah, you and Robert have the E and Frank
Roberts what what.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
What does it say on yours? Paul?
Speaker 3 (21:23):
This one? Yeah, this is not Icon. This is my
call sign in Japanese. Oh, I'm sorry, it's my call
it's my Japanese call sign.
Speaker 8 (21:31):
It's your Japanese call sign.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (21:33):
Which I've been JA one GBC and I've been trying.
I've been letting my APR s go the whole time.
So my entire trip is going to be tracked and
today will be the bullet train. It will be interesting
to see that.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Oh wow, Wayne. Icon usually does not hand out hats.
They have them at Dayton sometimes as a giveaways, but
they're not like Yazoo where Transition, where they had just
had them out at Avery ham Fest. Yeah, i'd know.
I'm backwards, James. When I put the camera back, I
(22:08):
did some new settings and it's flipped everything backwards. What
are you going to do, Robert, You're next? What w'd
you pick up?
Speaker 5 (22:17):
Yeah, let me let me show you, guys. That might
be the easiest thing to do. I got his hat,
by the way, in Kyle's Cahoots game at Dayton. Oh,
I won a around at Cahoots at Dayton and this
it was an Icon prize pack.
Speaker 8 (22:36):
What was the topic? Uh, Cahoot game?
Speaker 5 (22:41):
I don't even remember. I won two of the games.
I don't remember which ones they were.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
They're usually just general HF stuff or general radio things.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
It was early in the morning, so I think everybody else.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
Was asleep or hungover.
Speaker 5 (22:58):
Yeah, So so here's here's what I brought home. So,
first of all, at Mike's Awesome Giveaway at the Pavilion,
there were a few vendors that pitched in and gave
some things away, and the PoTA folks were one of
those vendors. So that green matt that all my junk
(23:19):
is on is one of the things that I that
I won in Mike's raffle, so that was cool. You
can see my sticker hall here and these are all Noos.
Well except for no These are all new stickers because
that's Carlos's new call sign. But you know, we all
(23:40):
get tons of stickers. I try to just get ones
I haven't had before, so that's what you're seeing there.
I've got myself a Rocket Machine Works entry sleeve. That's
this little thing down in the left hand corner, and
that's to help you know, I'm going to use that
as a pass through to bring cable into the house.
(24:01):
So I picked up one of those. Also.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I did talk to them this year. Go ahead.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
Yeah, they're good folks, you know they I give a
lot of credit. They've been at every big hand fast
since they got started. Right, They're just trying to they're
just trying to get a foothold, trying to get something
going with the radio community.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
I missed them at day Yeah, I think last year
at Huntsville was the first time.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
It was either that or two years ago it.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Was Orlando.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Orlando. This year was the first time they came out.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
No, I saw him a Huntsville last year. I did
a video.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
Yeah, they were Huntsville.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
They they gave me the they gave me the thing
to pass through at Orlando. But I met them at
Huntsville last year. Because they had a wah wah pedal
on the table. I'm like, why the hell is there
a wah wah pedal because I'm a guitar.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Like, you know, we got you to the table, musicians.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
Are like, and then I you know, I really scored
in Mike's giveaway. That's a that's an eight seventeen Explore
sleeve that you see in the top right hand. I
got one of those, Yeah, because I already had one
of those. I have an eight eighteen. And then right
in the middle you can see I picked up an
(25:14):
eight seventeen as well. So there's another another radio there
that I picked up. So now I've got two of those,
and I'm going to be doing some linear satellites with
two of those. And then the other cool thing is
that white object in the lower right hand corner. So
that's for the PSR one hundred. That's that portable satellite
(25:36):
antenna rotator kit. And don Wa four MCM who makes those,
originally created that for use with the with the Arrow antenna,
but he's also going to be supporting the ELK antenna.
So he had a prototype for that antenna and he
(25:57):
gave me one of those.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
I thank you. Then Kyle got the one of the prototypes.
Speaker 5 (26:02):
For that, and then you know, mass Strant they got
all crazy, you know, they they were given out blue
samples instead of yellow samples that they've been given out
for like the last three years. So I grabbed a
couple of those.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Nice.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
So that's my Haull's.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
That's a good haul, Yeah, not bad.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
Is it a paracord from Mastrant?
Speaker 5 (26:23):
No, that's a that's a mask. It's a guy wire, right,
it's a it's a it's a antenna guying wire. It's
really thin though. I pick it up because it's good
for so many different things. You can use it as
shoelaces for your boot. This stuff will not break either,
and I think it's got a strength of like I
don't know, like six hundred and fifty pounds for this
(26:46):
really thin filament that they use, so I do use
it for guying. I also use it for, you know,
just all kinds of miscellaneous stuff around the house. I
always have a couple in the truck and they.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Do the what he's showing on screen here, I'll make
him him big again. Is like a six foot section.
I think how long it is and yeah, something like
it's just free samples. So you could take that and
you know, like, oh that works really well. Let me
buy a lot of it so I can use it
on the forty foot mast I have.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
I think it's like three meters maybe, so I think
it's bigger than.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Six nine plus.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
I see myself getting some free samples at him.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
Every time I walk by. Every time I grab a couple.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Yep, so awesome, awesome, I think I got everyone. Let
me go ahead and show what I snagged. This is
my haul this year. I have was given to share
four bottles of bourbon, and I think two of these
are rye, so that's gonna be very much fun. I
(28:01):
have the my mouth showing maybe maybe not No. The
white little pipe that looks like a PBC pipe is
gigaparts in tell Atron forty five foot mast and I
can't wait to get that up in the backyard. And
then I was trying to get a full set of hamsticks.
(28:22):
I got six ten and sixteen hamsticks. They were out
of twenty and forty hamsticks, and I really wanted to
get a whole set, but I'm gonna have to order
the other ones when they come back and stock the
I'm looking forward to kittting the masks in the backyard
up and I can't wait to use that because I'm
(28:44):
going to try to start using that for testing handhelds.
So I'm gonna put that up and then drive around
in the area and hit different yards away or miles away.
So that's one thing I'm gonna be doing, plus a
couple other ideas I have. But four bottles of bourbon
not bad, not bad at all.
Speaker 7 (29:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
What what at the ham Fest we like we enjoyed
the most or what's just so we just jumped to
talking about Friday, Like how much fun Friday was. Friday
we had the big meet up at the pavilion where
I think we had around one hundred and fifty people
that showed up and we were out there. There was
(29:30):
four three or four stations running Poda and the rest
of us were just hanging around talking and we had
a big old lunch cookout, which we're going to be
talking more in depth next live stream over on Jason's
channel at seven o'clock coming up. But we had so
much fun. But who wants to start with talking about
(29:51):
Fridays hangout.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
Well, let's not skip Thursdays hang out right, Thursdayursday, Giga Parts.
That was That was well.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
I was only there for an hour, so please tell
us what was going on there?
Speaker 5 (30:05):
Okay, So I was there a bit longer than that.
So there were a number of sessions, the anti forums
that were going on. So I did one on FM satellites,
Big Gene did one on three D printing. Mike, did
(30:26):
you do a PoTA one? I believe you did a
PoTA one, didn't you?
Speaker 4 (30:29):
It was on go bags.
Speaker 5 (30:31):
Okay, So Mike did one on go Bags, but I'm
sure he talked about Poda and they go hand in
hand literally, And you know, it was just a nice event.
There was you know, Giga Parts, I think sprung for
some pizza, so we had some things to nash on
(30:55):
in between sessions and everyone just got to hang out
there in some which was also pretty nice because it
was a hot day out there. But I think it
was a good day and a good precursor to the
weekends events. So a nice addition certainly what Teo and
the crew have been working on for four.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
Days in August and the keen I.
Speaker 6 (31:21):
At gigaparts would notice. And I don't have a keen eye.
Dave told me about it. They had a like an
aisle of just blowout stuff.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Oh yeah, only discounted stuff. Oh ok.
Speaker 6 (31:40):
Mrty got himself another rig expert for a good one
one hundred.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
And fifty bucks. Wow, what nice.
Speaker 7 (31:49):
I didn't realize they were that.
Speaker 6 (31:52):
Well, this is the AA fifty five zoom, so it
goes up to fifty five mega hurts so perfect for me.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
Yeah, like it was. It wasn't even a box, It
was just this.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
There was a sticker, a price sticker on the back,
and I think they were asking like one ninety nine
for it. They originally go for like two fifty or something. Yeah,
but I went up to Robbie, who's the owner of a gigaparts,
I'm like, what is what is my price?
Speaker 1 (32:14):
You can.
Speaker 6 (32:16):
I have lots of friends I send the gigaparts, so
He's like, let me go in the back and see
what I can do.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
And then comes he's like I can do one sixty.
I'm like, how about one fifties?
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Like all right, if you what's my arm?
Speaker 4 (32:29):
And don't even have batteries in it, like it just
turns on.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
So somebody asked me to do a comparison of this
and the rig Experts stick Pro that I use, and.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Oh, that would be a great video.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
I kind of like this one better.
Speaker 6 (32:41):
Yeah, still too early to say, like it's still got
the new analyzer smell on it, you know.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
But it is so fast just sweeping the bands and stuff.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
So yeah, that's the one I use.
Speaker 9 (32:55):
And I love the five five band at a time
as of your five bands and you can see all five.
Speaker 6 (33:00):
On but the zoom function on that, like the stick
Pro you can zoom in and out and stuff, but
not like.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Bill, what's going on? Bill? Nice scene? You our Thursday?
I was there for lunch and then Kyle Grad means like,
all right, we gotta go, and we went and shot
over at not Sam's Costco. And I'm not going to
name names, but someone got in trouble shooting video at Costco.
(33:29):
I guess they don't like shooting video. Uh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 8 (33:35):
It's because of the like the Costco guys like that
blew up on TikTok and his son. They would always
go to Costco and film. Yeah, I mean that's what
stopped it.
Speaker 6 (33:47):
YouTuber's ruined everything, right, Why would a business not want
free publicity?
Speaker 1 (33:53):
I don't know. Yeah, so that happened, and then we
went back up to the hill and hung out after that,
and it took us so long to buy all the
food for Friday's lunch cookout and fundraiser. But that's that's
why I missed a lot of the gigapart stuff. Thursday.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
Hey, I did get one more thing that I've completely
forgotten about because I don't have it in my hot
little hands yet. Yeah, I bought a I bought one
of the last five new Explorer bags with the custom
Ham radio two point zero red stitching. Took it home
(34:37):
for me and it's still at Jason.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
So oh, when you come by, let let me know
and we'll do it smokeout yep yep. Then then, of
course that Thursday night, I think we all just crashed
at Jason's camper and busting. We finished three bottles of
bourbon that night and one of them was eagle rare
like ah, it was amazing. Then Friday we headed over
(35:03):
to the pavilion. Renee made breakfast burritos for about sixty
people and those were really good. Plus she had this
spice it said be be brave or go easy on
the spices. And let me just say who I hope
someone picked that up because Renee did not end up
(35:25):
going home with it. So if you know where let
those spices ended up, reach out to me on discord,
will work something out. Then it was good. I put
it in my breakfast burritos. I put it on what
the hamburgers we had or something the other day, and
then it went into my beans because we ended up
(35:49):
not buying Holborn arrows because we couldn't find Hobby arrows.
Then we did the cookout over at the pavilion for
roughly I think we eskedmately did one hundred and twenty
maybe a little bit more people for the fundraiser for
the ABRL. Kyle and I did that and I'm not
going to announce any numbers. That's the live stream coming
(36:12):
up at seven over on hand Radio two. And who
what what other fun because that that's the the for me,
that's the main highlight of just hanging out at the
pavilion and hanging out for everyone. Mike's let's just jump
to you real fast. And you did a giveaway? What
was all involved in that?
Speaker 4 (36:31):
Uh? Mostly for selfish reasons, honestly.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
You know when when let's like cleans out, you.
Speaker 6 (36:41):
Know, you get all this stuff from companies, they want
you to review them, and you do the reviews, and
then like some things I use regularly, and other things
like batteries especially, you know, there's some that I use
and then the rest just kind of sit around. So
I had I think I had eight battery eight hundred
amp Hower batteries that I gave away. Two of them
(37:04):
were Bio n O and then like Power Queen and
Cycling bat and you know, the Chinese battery manufacturer of
the day.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
So I got to give a bunch of those away.
Speaker 6 (37:15):
And then last year at Huntsville, Jason Scoggins gave me
like every freaking Gigaparts, explorer bag, pouch.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Thing you could think of, and I don't really use them.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
I just throw my seventy three hundred in the explorer
bag and then I have one zipper pouch, and that's it.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
That's all I use.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
So I had all this stuff that I'd never used,
just sitting in a closet.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
So I brought that and gave that out.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
And then like Raynovac sent me a crap ton of
Icon shirts like a year ago, and I've slowly given
them out when I've been around people and doing.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
Events and stuff. So I brought the rest of those
and gave those away.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
When Jason and I went up to Iowa and visited
Power Film last year, they have this shelf of solar
panels that for whatever reason don't pass speck, like the
customer orders it and it needs to be.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Five amps exactly. Well, if it tests like.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
Five point one amps or four point nine amps whatever,
it's slightly out of spect So they just put them
on this shelf. So me and Jason were just like,
we're just grabbing every solar panel we can. So I
had a bunch of solar panels from power Film that
I don't use that I gave away, like a couple
of sixty watt ones and some twenty fives and ten
watts stuff and a lightsaber max. Like power Film has
(38:32):
just been so awesome to work with, you know, Seth
who's kind of their marketing guy, just emails me randomly.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
He's like, hey, how you doing. You need anything?
Speaker 6 (38:42):
I'm like, well, you got any more panels? You want
to just throw my way? So it'll just send me stuff.
And then I get to cause like, yeah, you know,
as a YouTuber you get free stuff. And sure I
could turn around and sell it, but I'm like, you know,
it's cool to get free stuff, it's cool to give
it away, So why not just load my car with
all kinds of crap and give it away?
Speaker 8 (39:00):
So how would you do the giveaway? People enter or
how did people get the stuff?
Speaker 6 (39:09):
We We gave out raffle tickets and and so I
would tear off one and give it to the you know,
to the person. Then I would throw the other copy
in a bag.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
And then Dave KB five U T I was kind of.
Speaker 6 (39:21):
My UH assistant, and he was doing the drawings as
I was, you know, I just picked something at random
and there, let's give this away. Dave would pull out
the ticket and we'd yell out the number and they'd
come up and receive their fabulous price.
Speaker 8 (39:35):
So, yeah, you get a car, you get a car.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
Yeah, pretty much. And what was one of the things
you gave away that that was notoriously living at your house?
Speaker 5 (39:50):
Oh the pillow.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Oh yeah, kind enough out of my own heart to
send you a radio pillow.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
I am a minimalist. I don't like a lot of clutter.
Speaker 6 (40:05):
Like I all this ship on the table I took
out because I thought this was just gonna be me
and Frank talking about what we got an amcasion.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
Yeah, I'm like, I.
Speaker 6 (40:13):
Already did a video on that, like nobody's going to
see it, so on my three D printer back there.
So Frank sends me this fricking pillow. One day, I
get a thing in the mail.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
I'm what the hell is this? And I open it
up and it's this tank radio polem. What am I
gonna do with that?
Speaker 6 (40:26):
So I just put it on my three D printer
and I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna give that
away too.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
So not a lovely lady won it, So I was like, hey, nice.
Speaker 6 (40:38):
Yeah, hopefully she's using it as a voodoo doll or.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Grab it and go the bands are dead.
Speaker 5 (40:51):
It's big enough that you could put it around your
head and cover your ears whenever.
Speaker 4 (40:55):
You see frass.
Speaker 6 (40:58):
You know I never tried that. Fortunately, Frank. I think
Frank's only been at my house once, so oh a
couple of times?
Speaker 4 (41:06):
Has it been more than one?
Speaker 1 (41:06):
So yeah, I drove by one time. We'll put stickers
all around your house, your cars, cigars, and uh, you've.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
Probably been there a few times when you weren't there.
Speaker 8 (41:20):
Definitely not trying to deter the subject from hands fat
ham Fest. But Mike, are you also in Texas?
Speaker 4 (41:26):
I'm in Huntsville.
Speaker 8 (41:27):
Uh, Huntsville, Texas? Okay, very cool?
Speaker 1 (41:30):
So so everyone on stream right now, Maya is Freddy
lives in Texas.
Speaker 7 (41:35):
I'm in occupied North Texas, Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
That doesn't count. Oklahoma is just the first loser.
Speaker 7 (41:43):
It's yeah, if your second, you're the first one to lose.
Speaker 8 (41:50):
Maybe what was Hamfest? I've never been to one? But
what was something that maybe could have been different? Or
what's something that's we're like, no, a little off or
maybe you don't want to talk about that, that's fine,
but something that struck you surprise you?
Speaker 5 (42:08):
Maybe Oh hmm, I can't think of anything negative. But
I'll give you I'll ramble a little bit and give
you guys a chance to think I thought it was
really cool the new prize barrel, the gyroscopic prize barrel
that they are.
Speaker 7 (42:26):
Yeah, seeing that was new.
Speaker 6 (42:28):
I could just picture Frank jumping in it like he
did at the at the Spaceship Museum thing and.
Speaker 1 (42:34):
Hunting the three the three Access turned Yeah.
Speaker 5 (42:37):
Yeah, like the lawnmower man. Yeah that was cool.
Speaker 6 (42:41):
But no, I think these shows, these shows have been
going on for so many years, like they got it
down to a t.
Speaker 4 (42:47):
And the people.
Speaker 6 (42:48):
Shout out to all the people who organize all the
events and.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
Also the volunteers because yeah, they a lot of work.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
And you know, every time I see Mark, who's kind
of the head organized for the Huntsville ham Fest, he's
always got a smile on his face. He's always happy
to stop and shake your hand and say hello.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
And they don't run off because he's going somewhere else
because there's a fire somewhere.
Speaker 6 (43:11):
Yeah, it really is all three hamm Cash and Dayton
and Huntsville. They're just very well oiled machines.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
One thing that surprised me is Dayton and the amount
of people that go to Dayton, because I think last
year it was thirty seven to forty thousand people at
Dayton Samfest.
Speaker 4 (43:30):
Wow, and it's.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
It's so large. Ell, there's the swap meey areas inside
a literal horse track and that's only a half of it.
Speaker 7 (43:40):
Yes, you ever get to go to Dayton, take cash,
trust me, you're gonna more than you mention that.
Speaker 6 (43:50):
Yeah, you want to say if you take cash, you
won't you will you will not leave with cash? Yeah,
cash is king Like nobody uses crazy. Well, a lot
of people use like the square absence.
Speaker 7 (44:01):
There's some motor folks out there in that flea market.
If you'd say I got cash, that price gets better.
It's always working.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
Yeah, if you really want to nitpick, you know, parking
at Huntsville isn't great especially, I mean it's not awful, but.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
It's just not great.
Speaker 5 (44:27):
And they're doing some construction right now, so we're we're
off a little bit there. But I mean that's really nitpicking.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
Wayne has it in our chat. The food at Huntsville,
that little concession stand is a little bit pricey, and
that is I think the major thing.
Speaker 7 (44:48):
The one inside of the von Brone sentence.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
Yes, yeah, it's horrible. I just never eat there.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
And I talked to kind of about that and they're
locked in. There's nothing they can do.
Speaker 7 (44:58):
Yeah, it's all contractual. Bit the food is horrible and
it's triple priced.
Speaker 6 (45:03):
There's so many good restaurants, like within a mile distance
of the von Braun Center, though, like to me, it's
not a.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
Big deal, like there's no reason to eat there.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
I've only eaten I've only eaten a dayton.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
Right, it says full down your antenna before parking.
Speaker 7 (45:19):
Yes, I had to take my antennas off before parking
in the parking garage.
Speaker 1 (45:24):
Okay.
Speaker 8 (45:25):
Not trying to detorge the conversation to like rag on
the Huntsfield, but these things, as someone who's never been
to one, I think it's really good to know that, like,
okay antennas, there's trees, there's maybe a little bit overprized food,
and parking was a struggle. So that's good like to
come in with that level of expectation.
Speaker 1 (45:41):
Big rundown between all of them, Huntsville Hanffest is one
of the bigger ones that is smaller. Saturday is the
large day Sunday. It's very very light, it's fun. They
have a great youth Louns. There's a lot of things
to do around Huntsville. We have our big get together
Friday night at Huntsville. Then Orlando is the second biggest
(46:02):
hand fest that's down in Florida in May, I want
to say.
Speaker 5 (46:07):
May February, February.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
One of those months. Then the one. Uh they have
good food down at Orlando, they have good vendors out there.
Then Dayton is the largest one up in Ohio, and uh,
that is just it's it's overload on everything. They have
everything and everything. There's lots of people there. It's fun.
(46:32):
So many get togethers and and meet up and high
in four days in May. It's it's it's amazing. So
that's kind of them in the rundown if you're going
to do your first one and you want to keep
it light. Huntsville, Huntsville, Huntsville. We saw Wayne up at
Huntsville and that was his first hand fest and he
had a blast just hanging out with everyone. And uh
(46:55):
going to the Hamfest.
Speaker 7 (46:58):
The air conditioning on Bronze Center was amazing. Yes, it
was so nice in there. And the YouTuber's form that
they host on Sunday mornings is that was a delight
actually was again, Yeah, I enjoyed that thoroughly.
Speaker 1 (47:17):
I wanted to show pictures of the three access price machine.
I just can't find it off of my stuff, and
I did copy all my photos over here.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
I think they had it on the website an image
of it.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
Anyway, and the kids that the Robotics Brown Coats team,
they built that over last summer, so they were not
just sitting around doing nothing. I'm trying to find it.
Dealer for Lee Market Clubs, volunteers events, door prizes. It's
(47:53):
probably be under door prizes.
Speaker 8 (47:56):
No.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
Oh, well, we're kind of coming up to the top
of the hour here, so let's just go around the horn.
Will Fast tell us where can we find more about you?
And what's coming up on the channel. Let's go Actually
we start with Robert this time.
Speaker 5 (48:15):
Yeah, so you can find me a digital rancher on
YouTube and my I think news is I'm gonna stream
on Friday nights. I'm gonna start streaming on Friday nights.
We're gonna do a late night starting at nine pm Central,
and we're gonna go as long as people want to
(48:37):
hang out. I did that kind of impromptu this past Friday,
and I was surprised how many people showed up, and
I was surprised how many people were still there two
hours into the stream. So it seems like we've got
some insomniacs and people that don't have anything else going
on late Friday night, so we're gonna do the late
(49:00):
shift Friday nights at nine pm.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
Nice. Well, thank you very much, Robert. I appreciate you
joining Elle. Where can we find more about you and
what's coming up on your channel?
Speaker 8 (49:13):
Definitely on YouTube with She's on frequency. I went to
a high altitude launch yesterday. I've got that filmed. I'm
sorry to edit it. If you've never been a high
altitude balloon launch, or if you don't know what they are,
it's more of a information about them and the purpose
of them. So I've got that coming up. I'm editing
(49:33):
it right now, and then I need to get my
first Phota activation and I haven't done that yet, So
hopefully sometime this week I will activate my first parks
on the air and maybe you do a film or
video on it and maybe live stream it. Not sure
yet on that though, That's what I hope to do
this next week.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
Awesome, Well, thank you for joining. I can't wait to
get you back on the stream later.
Speaker 4 (49:58):
Thanks.
Speaker 8 (49:58):
Thank you for having me. I first said that maybe
this couldn't work, but I appreciate it. So I'm a drink.
Speaker 1 (50:04):

time for me to go film a video on this
e bike that this company sent me a few months ago.
I've been beating the crap out of it ever since.
And it's really cool and it folds and it fit
in my car to go to Huntsville, and it was

the QMX. So Wednesday, so the bike WI the bike
video will drop tomorrow and then Wednesday and Friday we'll
(51:35):
