Talus Magic Talk Show brought you backTalus Master seas Food, he yet Dragon
Tealism put Hi, everyone, welcomeback to the show. This is your
tasy food right here. And threeis another exciting topic. So I got

(00:27):
some inspiration from TikTok's because people wereasking things and I was I witness how
people are confused about the religion Taoism. So I'm using this episode to talk
about what is Taoism in terms ofits history. Okay, so in the

(00:49):
history book, right, it doesn'ttells you everything. So don't look into
the history book because the history book, I mean China. The history of
China is a mess. Well notto say the history in the Western culture
is not a mess. Right,There are always time when history were like
made up, rewritten, added right, so you never know the actual truth

(01:15):
of what actually happened in China. You see, there are many different dynasties
that happened throughout times. And iflike one new ruler takes over and it's
not from the same family of theprevious one, well what do they do
when they become a king or theempire, They will want to change the

(01:38):
history. They will want to writesomething to bash the previous one and to
make themselves look better. So that'swhat happened all the time. And you
see in China, most of thepeople, like the average people are actually
farmers and they are powerless. Therewas a guy on TikTok and Do like

(02:00):
he's a Chinese guy and he doesa lot of nice research, like really
in depth research about China and thelife of China before. So he was
talking about like how most people arelike and he said, well, you
see, most of the people, like average people life spans is about like

(02:21):
thirty five years old and they die. And so yeah, why are people
like married so early and like givingbirth to children so early, like at
the age of fourteen or even sixteen. Why so early is because you don't
have time. At the age ofsixteen, that's like half of your life.
It's gone already. And what elsecan you do if you don't like

(02:45):
make babies right now? Right? So, most people are farmers and they
have like you know, you've gota piece of land and you need to
take care of that and farm.Right the government or the kingdom, they're
gonna send people over and take stufffrom you to tex And it depends if
they're like corruption or not, whichmost of the time there are corruptions.

(03:07):
So you are going to give alot to the rulers and you're going to
keep very little. And sometimes likeokay, let's say your daughter, your
son, you know, they growup and they are going to get married,
Well that whole year of income mightbe gone just for the marriage.
So it's pretty suffering in China backthen. If you're like a farmer,

(03:30):
and you know what, they wakeup like before the sun rise, so
it's like four o'clock in the morningsomething like that. They have to start
get ready, go out and thenwork in the farm in the field until
like a seven or eight when thesun goes down and they can go back
home and like yeah, finally theregoes home. And how many like how

(03:55):
much do they eat? Well, they have to like cut down on food
because you know, food is precious, so they only eat like one or
two meals a day, and threemeals a day is like luxury. There
no one eat that much, sothey eat so little. And salt is
very very expensive, so they cannotafford a lot of salt in their cooking,

(04:18):
right, So most people in Chinathey don't have enough salts to replenish
the stuff that they they have outputthroughout the day. It's like, you
know, right now you have water, mineral water, you know, with
electrolyte and all that to like replenishyou after you have done sport, so

(04:40):
you feel better, right, Butback then, no, they don't have
that. So it's very very hardand you know, facing the hot sun
all day and they're like working withthe stuff, like your skin gets rough,
your body warns out, and hey, you know what, that's life
in China. Why do you thinkpeople will have that luxury time, you

(05:05):
know to actually do other things. They don't. So they are kept like
that for a reason. You keptthe people like a machine, right,
Like China is like that. Theykeep the lower class in like they're like
doing labor work. They're like machines. They produce things, and well what
do you get returned? You canstay alive? Right, Oh what happened

(05:29):
if you don't like do that?Well, you know the corrupted ones and
come over and say hey we needpeople in the army and grab your away
and you're like doing slavery job, right, so you will not survive one
or two years in the army. And they don't care about that because you
die, they grab another one.Right, So yeah, life is tough.

(05:49):
So that's how life in China was. Okay, now you understand the
Chinese. The Chinese people then thinkabout it history who have time to write.
Most of them don't even know words. Okay, most of like I'm
talking about majority of the Chinese peopleback then, they are farmers, right,

(06:13):
they don't have education or they knowis farming, so they don't know
words. Whatever the king say,we believe, we have to believe because
in the law there is like thisnumber one rule and say, you cannot
offend the king, you cannot offendthe emperor, like the ruler on top.
If you offend, you're gonna getyour head chopped off. And not

(06:34):
only that, there's like nine generationsbeing killed, so it's you as one
generation, and then four generations down, four generations up. So it's like
your mother, grandmother and grand grandmothergreat grandmother. Right, Like basically everyone
who is alive and with you arekilled. You can be like totally eliminated

(06:57):
from this world like that, andno one wants that treatment. So everyone
will just you know, obey, and they're like slave, you know,
they just obey and follow whatever thekings say. It's fine, you don't
don't like do things that are notuseful for your life. If you have
time, you should farm, Okay. So that's how it is. China's

(07:20):
history is mostly like a game ofpolitics. Right, so people, the
rich class, the royal family, they are the one who writes. So
what they want the people to believeis what gets released to you know,
the books and all that, andhey, come on, you think about
it right now, right, likelike the China right now, it's about

(07:43):
the same thing. They have likesuper heavy censorship. They have like no
freedom on the internet. It's likeyou want to go on Google and YouTube,
No, we don't let you seethat. You know those American stuff.
You're not gonna see it. You'regonna let you see what we have
inside our own country only. Ohyeah, and back then you don't have
VPN, right so yeah, well, back in the old days, people

(08:09):
are farmers, right, so theyfarm, but nowadays there's like less farmers.
But what's the new farm or farmer? Factory worker? Right? You
get into a factory and then yourjob is like the whole day sit there
and then plucking in screws or puttingon a phone screen, you know,
like the whole day you become likea robot, and robots are brainless.

(08:33):
Right, do you know how warehouseworks in China? Go through some research.
I have seen it, like it'son video. Right. So in
the morning, everyone like line upand basically what they do is no different
from a prison. So they lineup and look at the wall, and
on the wall there are like afew boards with like rules, right,

(08:54):
a set of rules, and theyhave to chant it like like it's a
religion. They have the chanted everyonechanged together loudly read it once okay,
and then everyone done okay, nowgreet and then go to work. And
they line up and go to work, and then it's like wow, that's
how you start a day, right, like like prison every and then you've

(09:15):
got to have that memorize eventually. If you don't remember, you're like punished.
You get punished, you get hit, and you get you get to
like okay, now we're gonna lockyou here, and you're gonna memorize it
because you don't know the rule. It's very scary and people break down from
that, like you have you haveto see it. It's on YouTube.
There's like many university student who endup working in the factories and they break

(09:39):
down. It's like so stressful becauseit's like a prison. Right, but
think about it. Back in theold days, the Chinese people don't even
have cell phone, they don't haveaccess to any technology, so they don't
really break down because there's like nooption. There's no comparison. Right now,
you know that, like, oh, there's like other countries, there

(10:01):
are other styles of life, likeyou know, there are other things,
so you can compare. Right thenyou break down Back then it's like no,
that's how life is. You know, you get used to it.
It's like it's like your chicken insidethe cage. Your whole life is inside
the cage. You know, likethat you're normal, right, you get
used to it. You cant numbby it. There's no comparison. So
that's how you are. And yousee China, it's like that today.

(10:26):
It's no different from before. SoTaoism in China today is pretty much like
they regulate it to make it likeokay, if the government do not accept
or acknowledge your existence, right, whatever sect your talism is, it's not
Taoism because we don't register you intoour system and you're not licensed. Okay,

(10:48):
but you know what, the actualTaoism back then, in the old
days, okay, it's not likethat. Back in the old days,
Taoism is like a category cory. It's more like you can say Chinese religion.
Okay. So that's like that.Okay. So there are many villages
in China, right, every province, every village, they might have their

(11:11):
own believe For example, this villagebelieve in like a goddess. Story about
this goddess is like this, this, this, and they have a story
about it. So the whole villagebelieved it for many generations and they have
their own practice. Now in another village, they believe this general and

(11:33):
they were like, okay, we'regonna worship this general. Everyone had problem
go to the general and ask forhelp. But they that basically how it
is, and then they just believebecause you know what, there's like no
other options, right, so youdon't you don't compare. That's like what
we do. That's what your motherdo, that's what your grandmother do,
So you do it as well, and then you teach your son about it.
Okay. So religion in China islike that, and it's very alike

(11:56):
with other cultures, okay. Butthe point is religion in China, like
Chinese religion is pretty much like allfalls into the same category as Taoism.
And what is the property of Taoismis that they all believe in a tawel,

(12:18):
in a greater power that can helpthem in life and give them guidance
or help them make decision in life. Right, So what is that power?
Well, there are two types. One is that someone in the village
will have a connection with some higherbeings which they say as their God.

(12:43):
Okay, so yeah, it couldbe anything, okay, But it's like
in the West you have like shamansand they are like mediums. Then they
can communicate with spirits and then peoplebelieve them, right, same deal with
the Chinese. So they have thistype, right, and then they will
believe in some sort of god andthey have built like temples and things like

(13:03):
that and people go and worship. So that like one form. Another form
of higher power is a grouped publicallygrouped pool of energies, like they build
a profile, for example, lestthey worship General Quan, okay or some

(13:24):
guy that is like famous in history. So they build a statue, right,
and then they worship it and thenthey say, okay, this is
what we believe. And anyone likeyou know, on the days when you
don't need help, you come andworship and do offerings and give food and
whatever. Right worship, and thenwhen you need help, you come and

(13:46):
you ask for help, right,And then you ask for help and you
get something from the temple to carrywith you, and there goes the blessings
and the help. Okay, soyou see how does this work? Well,
everyone shipping this statue is like actuallyinvesting into the account. They're investing
their heart energy, which is throughusing the faith power. Like the belief

(14:11):
power is like a kind of mentalor spiritual power that we all have.
You believe in something and you keepbelieving it blindly, your heart is going
into it. Does it work,Yes, it works, And it actually
how all the other religions work inthis world as well. Like you believe
in something, it doesn't matter asreal or not, and then you go

(14:33):
there and do the ritual, andover time the belief power becomes a form
of energy group together and you otherpeople all group their energy together, right,
so you're like all investing into thesame bank. Account. When you
need help, you go back thereand take from the bank account. So
simple, right, So that basicallywhat the structure or the concept of talism

(14:56):
is like. And hey, howdo the f armors have this idea?
Like how where did they get thisidea from? I mean, like they
are farming, they don't have money. How can they afford to build a
statue? Right? You know what, it's the ruler above that builds this
temple. It's always those rulers orthe rich people that want to control this

(15:20):
group of people, and then theybuild a temple for them. So it's
like, okay, this villageous flooding. Okay, now there's like this ruler
above. The emperor gives an orderand say, okay, we're gonna build
this god there to protect the village. So they use the money to build
a temple and tell everyone to goworship, and then as they worship,

(15:41):
right, the emperor above send theirpeople to fix the flooding, and they
say, okay, we are doingour job as human and then the gods
are also helping behind so that wecan actually do the job better. Okay,
so the job can't be successful, and then everyone go through the ritual
if they they have like successfully repairedthe problem and fixed the problem, then

(16:06):
everyone's like, oh, we thinkthe king above, the empire above,
and the God above. Right, and then eventually that becomes something that everyone
believed in. So when you guyshave like small problem, don't bother the
king, go ask the god forhelp. Right, If you have small
problem, when there's like bigger problem, you need the king than you call
the king. So that's how theking actually like take care of the people.

(16:30):
They give them like a peace ofmind by building a temple. And
like these there are like other peoplecopying the same kind of structure, but
without the king building the temple, they have like an in house temple with
a smaller statue and maybe a storyof their own version of a god that
maybe they came up with, ormaybe they have a connection with a real

(16:55):
higher being something like that. Right, all that stuff falls in just same
category, and that is they allbelieve that there's something higher than them,
something more powerful above, and theycombine their effort to worship and invest into
that, and then when they needhelp, they go and get help.
That's what Taoism is, right,That is like the real Taoism, which

(17:18):
I can say is like Chinese religion, it all falls into that thing,
that kind of concept. Well, does it like apply to other cultures and
you know, other tribes out there, Yes, it does. You know,
like you look at the African tribesor whatever, you know, natives,
they all have similar things. Soto me, like personally, Taoism

(17:40):
doesn't mean anything much. It's likeall the religions out there are kind of
like Taoism as well. So yeah, it's really hard to say like they
are not because they all fall intothe same category. But the thing is,
if you relate to like China Taoismas and like the government regulates that
once today, well then that's anotherthing. Okay, that's not Taoism.

(18:03):
That's like China Taoism Association, that'sthe government association. It's like they regulated
it, so if you're not insidetheir system, you're not counted as Taoism.
But in reality, that's not howit works. Like back then,
it was not how it works.Today it's not how it works too.
But is it a good thing tohave Thoism regulated? I think I need

(18:26):
to talk about it in the nextvideo, I mean the next podcast,
