La Resurrezione di Cristo inaugura un "nuovo giorno". I Padri della Chiesa lo hanno chiamato "ottavo" perché in esso trovano compimento i sette giorni della Creazione. Per estendere la gioia di questo "nuovo giorno", fin dal II secolo, si è prolungata la celebrazione pasquale per 50 giorni. In questo tempo la liturgia aiuta il credente a penetrare più profondamente nel Mistero della Resurrezione di Gesù. Ma perché 50 giorni?
